2024 Rumor Round-Up
It's been awhile since I did one of these. Let's catch up!
These are rumors resolved from January to mid-June 2024. Dates in parentheses are when the rumors first appeared.
Confirmed
Charles to make decision about Sussex children's titles after Harry's memoirs are published. (September 2022; BP concurred with Sussex PR that the kids are using Prince/Princess titles in March 2023.)
Harry's book finishes him in the UK and with the BRF. He's done. (November 2022; no invite to the Grosvenor/Westminster wedding, Harry was excluded from the Sandhurst book, no invites or PR for Christmas and Trooping.)
Sussexes to get Edward/Wallis treatment following publication of Harry's memoir - invites to funerals only, no private relationships. (January 2023; only Harry has been allowed back to Britain, no Meghan.)
Harry's book to be a financial disaster, Harkles to lose a lot of money/end up in more debt. (January 2023; per the 2023 year end reporting, Spare sold significantly less copies than projected. Industry insiders hinted that Harry didn't make back his bonus and isn't earning profit from Spare until he earns back his bonus.)
Meghan not invited to the coronation and will not attend, nor be allowed a private audience with Charles. (January 2023)
Kate had 2 dresses for the coronation service. (May 2023; Embroidery detailing on the skirts.)
Meghan crashed the special forces ribbon-cutting; only Harry invited to attend. (November 2023)
Meghan and Harry not invited to the King’s Birthday Party. (October 2023)
Sussexes not invited to Westminster wedding. (December 2023)
Meghan didn't want Charlotte (and maybe George) to be a bridesmaid or involved in the wedding. (2018; confirmed in one of the 2023/2024 exclusives, or maybe even Spare.)
Harry admitted military kills to justify need for private security, IPP lawsuits. (January 2023; Harry continues to claim that he's unsafe in the UK because of al Qaeda/the Taliban each time he comes back or his RAVEC lawsuit gets in the news.)
William to get Order of Bath from Charles. (March 2023)
Meghan to name Kate as the racist royal to undermine her work and reputation. (July 2023; Scobie wrote it so in Endgame.)
Harry to go to the UK to visit Charles and Kate while they're unwell. (January 2024; 24-hour visit in February after Charles's cancer diagnosis. Harry was able to see Charles but William refused Harry's call to let him see Kate.)
Harry and Meghan to change their surname from Mountbatten-Windsor to Sussex. (February 2024; interview at the Vancouver IG kickoff events.)
Kate to be on medical leave through end of summer; announcement at Easter time when she doesn't reappear. (February 2024; BBC video statement.)
Sussexes not attending Grosvenor wedding. (April 2024)
BRF to make public actions towards Harry (eg take him back or officially excommunicate) soon. (February 2024; demoted on the website.)
Partially Confirmed
Harry and Meghan to give second Oprah interview following public backlash from jubilee and funeral events, will name the racist royal. (September 2022; no Oprah interview but they did inform for Scobie's book Endgame, in which the names of the racist royals were leaked.)
Superinjunction on Sussexes to expire around May 6, 2024. Surrogacies to be revealed and kids will be removed from the website. Harry and Meghan will rebrand the family as Sussex, but BP will ignore it and continue calling the children by their Mountbatten-Windsor names. (February 2024; no superinjunction or surrogacies revealed. The family did rebrand as Sussex, BP has ignored it, and BP doesn't call the children by their new titles.)
William to attend Sandhurst's passing out ceremony in December. (April 2023; he attended the Naval Academy passing out in December.)
Scobie's book will pick up where Spare left off. His new book is being "ghostwritten" by Meghan and Harry, who intend to use it for more attacks on the BRF. (November 2023; the book involved more than Spare's events but it was clearly influenced by the Sussexes to attack the BRF.)
Sussexes to announce they've sent flowers and gifts to Charles and Kate following their health announcements. (January 2024; Meghan's PR claimed they sent well wishes.)
Meghan to name the racist royals = Kate and Jason Knauf. (November 2023; Kate named in Endgame, Jason wasn't.)
Plausible
No evidence totally confirming or busting, but enough clues suggest it's true.
Netflix docuseries was meant to be about the Archewell Foundation's work but scope changed to reflect behind the scenes/daily activities. (October 2022; Archewell posted an "impact video" in December 2023 of work they claimed was done in 2023 but many of the clips are from appearances they made in 2022. Meghan made the "impact video" to be able to use the footage for acclaim.)
Sussexes banned from Carlyle Hotel for past behavior. (May 2023; they never stay there, despite it being one of Diana's favorite hotels and that's hinky.)
Sussexes plan to use Scobie's book to highlight how awful the BRF is to bury the 'Harry's Nazi uniform' storyline on The Crown. (November 2023)
Meghan was never invited to the coronation. (May 2023; hiking papwalk has echoes of her 2016/2017 MO - while the royals are royalling, she's papwalking.)
Busted
Charles won't meet personally with Harry until he leaves Meghan. (April 2023; he met with Harry in February 2024. It was only 12-15 minutes, but it was a meeting nonetheless.)

In her 13 years as creative director of the French jewellery house Boucheron, Claire Choisne’s mood boards have featured some unusual suspects.
This January, she introduced the latest high jewellery collection with a picture of Prince Philip waving at crowds during the coronation in 1953.
He’s decked out in his Admiral of the Fleet finery, decorated with military medals and orders of chivalry, white ribbons fluttering at his shoulders.
‘OK, Prince Philip is not my absolute muse – but I love this picture,’ says Choisne via video call from the Tucson Gem Show, where she is shopping for the stones that will feature in the house’s 2026 collections.
She was drawn to the unexpectedly feminine details of the late Duke of Edinburgh’s ceremonial uniform.
‘You feel the power and the strength, but at the same time, there are all these couture details: bows, ribbons, embroidery. It’s a paradox.’
She decided it was the perfect way to interpret the well-trodden high jewellery theme of ‘couture.’
‘I didn’t want to do something too girly or cheesy. I wanted to give strength to the pieces. When I saw this picture, I said to myself, “OK, now I know how to manage the creation of this collection.”’
The resulting 24-piece collection, The Power of Couture, is the latest chapter in Boucheron’s annual Histoire de Style series, which sees Choisne reinterpret designs or themes from the house’s 166-year history.
Its founder, Frédéric Boucheron, was the son of a draper and so the archive teems with diamond-set bows, ribbons and lace, with gold worked into supple-as-silk scarves.
A lace-like shoulder adornment made circa 1880 was a Belle Epoque predecessor of today’s white gold and diamond epaulettes, whose overlapping loops were inspired by a tiara made in 1902 for the Princess of Wales, later Queen Mary, Prince Philip’s grandmother-in-law.
Clipped across the shoulders, they’re a precious take on the traditional tasselled gold epaulettes of naval uniforms.
They also transform into cuffs; such versatility is a hallmark of the collection.
A set of 15 medal brooches can be strung into a bib necklace of epic proportions.
A rock-crystal and diamond bow can fasten to the shoulder or chest, or be fashioned into a multi-wear necklace, while its central diamond can be plucked off to become a ring.
A braided aiguillette can be worn military-style across the chest, draped around the waist, or disassembled into brooches and a bracelet.
‘In ceremonial attire, there are so many rules that you have to respect. For the collection, I wanted the opposite,’ says Choisne.
‘I wanted people to be able to play freely and design their own style.’
She sees the collection as a ‘kit’ with an almost infinite number of styling combinations.
Her dream, she says, would be for one client to buy the lot. Whether that client is male or female is of little importance.
‘A long time ago, the people who wore high jewellery were men. The maharajas, the tsars, the kings. The biggest and most beautiful pieces were designed for men.’
One of Boucheron’s most famous clients was the Maharaja of Patiala who, in 1928, had his guards cart some 7,571 diamonds and 1,432 emeralds from The Ritz to the Boucheron boutique, to be set into 149 extraordinarily opulent jewels – a commission that inspired New Maharajas, the house’s 2022 Histoire de Style high jewellery collection.
Sir Bhupinder Singh, Maharaja of Patiala, GCSI GCIE GCVO GBE (12 October 1891 – 23 March 1938)
'Today,' continues Choisne, 'I don’t want to do pieces for men or for women. I want to make beautiful and meaningful pieces. And I want to show that it’s beyond gender.’
She says that men do buy and wear Boucheron high jewellery, but she doesn’t know the precise proportion of male customers.
‘I almost don’t want to know exactly, because I’m sure of my idea. And maybe we have to show them that it’s a good one.’
Three years ago, Boucheron’s art deco-inspired Histoire de Style collection was photographed on male and female models – a first among Place Vendôme’s traditional maisons.
‘I knew that some of the pieces were even stronger on men. But the idea of it was almost weird at that time. People asked me, “Are you sure, high jewellery on men?” And my answer was, “Yes, definitely,”’ says Choisne.
The Power of Couture collection, conversely, was exclusively photographed on and modelled by women; another deliberately defiant move.
‘When you think of ceremonial attire, you naturally think of men. So I wanted to show the opposite. It doesn’t make sense for me to choose between men and women. Nowadays we can do what we want.’
A pair of embroidery-inspired diamond ferns have an ethereal, Greek goddess-like beauty when worn as a headpiece.
But one can also imagine them pinned to a tuxedo, echoing the actor Regé-Jean Page, who wore a feather-shaped diamond Boucheron brooch at last year’s Oscars.
Although it may take a Liberace-channelling peacock to carry off a lacy diamond collar, even the most bling-averse gentleman could be tempted to affix a few rock crystal and diamond buttons to his dress shirt.
Choisne says Boucheron’s clients span the whole spectrum.
‘It’s the same for men as it is for women: some are more classical, and some are super edgy.’
Culture plays a role. ‘Maybe European men are a bit more traditional, whereas in Asia men can be more open-minded when it comes to style.’
It was important that the Power of Couture collection wasn’t too literal, says Choisne; it couldn’t feel like fancy dress.
A restrained, all-white palette of rock crystal and diamonds helps; she champions texture and detail over bold hues or glitzy brilliance.
The pieces are labelled with their carat weight along with the hours involved in their creation – many run into the thousands.
‘If you put a lot of little diamonds everywhere, it’s easy. It will shine, so you have no doubt that it’s precious,’ says Choisne.
‘But I prefer to find preciousness with purity of design and elegance, which come from the craftsmanship. It’s not about having lots of diamonds. The number of hours is what makes it high jewellery.’
The transformable Noeud bow, for example, is crafted from hundreds of individually cut lines of frosted rock crystal, threaded together through their diamond edging to evoke the texture and fluidity of grosgrain ribbon.
‘It would be much faster and easier to engrave a single piece, but I wanted it to be really flexible. So they cut every little line by hand. Each one is a different length. It’s crazy work to achieve that.’
That’s 2,600 hours of crazy work, to be precise.
Elsewhere, sandblasted rock crystal is knitted together into the flexible, five-strand Tricot choker.
’The idea was to give an illusion of knit work,’ says Choisne. ‘The unpolished rock crystal gives the feeling of softness, like wool.’
The Médailles feature grosgrain-effect rock-crystal ribbons, from which hang 15 medallions of sculpted rock crystal overlaid on to beds of brilliant-cut diamonds.
‘We cut the rock crystal with the glyptic technique – it’s much more complicated than engraving. Then we set diamonds underneath so they are a bit blurred. For me, it’s more magical.’
It’s clear that Boucheron’s craft workers relish Choisne’s technical challenges.
They are currently making the pieces that will launch in July 2025 (Boucheron presents two high jewellery collections a year), while Choisne is finalising designs for 2026 and developing her ideas for 2027.
It’s not always easy to sleep with so many different concepts buzzing around her brain, she admits.
Her approach to design mirrors the demands she asks of her atelier. ‘I don’t love it when it’s too easy.’

IMAGES: Last F-18 Hornet training squad is deactivated in Miramar marking the end of an era
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 10/01/2023 - 20:11in Military
An air squadron that has been training pilots to fly the F/A-18 Hornets fighters for 50 years was deactivated at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego, California, during a "t sunset ceremony" on Friday, marking the end of an era for the Department of the Navy.
For more than 50 years, the instructor pilots of the Navy 101 Fighter Attack Training Squadron, or VMFAT-101, "Sharpshooters" have qualified combat aviators and sent them to squads around the world. The " Sunset" celebrates the history of the squadron and the contributions to the readiness of the Marine Corps since its commissioning in 1969, when instructors first taught pilots to fly the F-4 Phantom II.
“As a former commander of the Sharpshooters, I can attest to the direct impact of the squadron on the operational readiness of the Marine Corps today,” Brig said. General Robert Brodie, assistant commander of the 3rd Marine Air Wing. "VMFAT-101 has shaped a critical element of naval aviation for half a century, and the marines and squadron sailors continue to be instrumental in preserving this combat legacy and transitioning to the next generation of combat aviation."

The ceremony began with a tradition called "Flying the Barn", where 18 F-18 fighter pilots performed maneuvers in formation in front of a crowd of spectators. The "t sunset" ceremony followed and included comments from Brodie and others. Observing were retired squadron commanders and others from the air wing.

The event also included a traditional colorful casing where the honors and awards that the squad received in various conflicts and wars were ceremonially guarded. The squad also received several awards for its safety record flying thousands of hours without accidents.
Its decommissioning marks the end of an era as the last squadron of the Navy Department to train F-18 pilots
“Thousands of our crews passed through the corridors of '101',” Brodie said. "They learned air-to-air combat and air-to-ground combat. Many were launched from an aircraft carrier in the middle of the night from a deck."
Squadron personnel and aircraft will transition to the U.S. Navy Fighter Attack Squadron 323 in Miramar and will continue to train F-18 Super Hornets pilots as Navy Squadrons complete the transition to the new era F-35 fighters. The air wing has two F/A-18 Super Hornets fighter squadrons and six F-35 squadrons.
The F-18 Super Hornet fighters are scheduled to continue in service until 2030. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense continues to invest in the maintenance of the famous fighter, which, according to U.S. Navy officials, is complementary to the F-35.

King Charles joins veterans at D-Day 80th anniversary commemorations
Rishi Sunak’s election campaigning and King Charles’s convalescence from cancer will be put on hold for 48 hours, as the two men join veterans to mark the 80th anniversary of D-day on the south coast of England and in Normandy.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, who has pledged to ensure D-Day lessons are taught if he becomes Prime Minister, also attends the event.
The King greeted the crowd gathered in Portsmouth with a wave of his hand as he and the Queen took to the stage. He told the audience:
“The stories of courage, resilience and solidarity which you have heard today and throughout our lives cannot fail to move us, to inspire us and to remind us of what we owe to that great wartime generation, now tragically dwindling to so few. It is our privilege to hear that testimony, but our role is not purely passive. It is our duty to ensure that we and future generations do not forget their service and their sacrifice in replacing tyranny with freedom.”
Prince William said he was “honoured” when he spoke on stage at the Remembrance Day event.
Wednesday’s UK commemorations, which included readings, music and reenactments from the period, also featured recollections from D-Day veterans, mainly in pre-recorded videos.
However, Roy Hayward — who was aged 19 at the time — took to the stage to speak of his emotions eight decades on. The veteran, who later in WWII lost both his legs below the knees to amputation, said:
“I always considered myself one of the lucky ones that survived, because so many of us didn’t. I represent the men and women who put their lives on hold to go and fight for democracy and this country.”
Rishi Sunak also turned to the words of a soldier to make his contribution. He read out Field Marshal Montgomery’s address to the troops before the D-Day landings.
First Minister John Swinney represents Scotland at the ceremony. Mr. Swinney paid tribute to the “brave men and women” who took part in the military operation during the World War II before attending the commemoration.
The event was hosted by Dame Helen Mirren, with military musicians and special guests leading the opening ceremony.
In Normandy, the Princess Royal will join British and Canadian military veterans for the commemoration. Princess Anne is taking part in a series of events to honour the sacrifices of Allied troops on the anniversary on the eve of the decisive invasion of Europe.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden landed in France to take part in commemorative events to mark D-Day. Mr. Biden will spend five days in the country. He is due to give a high-profile speech and hold an official state visit with President Emmanuel Macron.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky is set to deliver a speech to the National Assembly on June 7, the last day of the European election campaign. This manoeuvre makes the opposition shudder.
Olivier Marleix, chairman of the Republicans (LR) group, denounced the visit as “regrettable 48 hours before the European elections” in the National Assembly on June 4. Visiting Paris as part of D-Day commemorations to which Russia was not invited, Zelensky will appear before the Assembly for the first time in two years.
Troops from Britain, the US, Canada and France attacked German forces on the beaches of Normandy in northern France on June 6 1944. The Normandy landings were the largest naval invasion in history, and the World War II battle laid the groundwork for the Allied victory in Europe.

Veterans Day, Remembrance Day, Armistice Day
As someone who comes a from a military family, veterans day is important to some extent. But knowing the history of Veterans Days and the military is also of great importance. This is something I remind me children of each year.
Regardless of politcal leanings or attitudes, am I sure we can all agree that the military does have an important part to play within and without a country. My family tends to be apart of the Marines on both sides (mother's and father's) and two are veterans. My brother broke unspoken family "rule" and joined the army. But we celebrate them and others who joined and lived through different wars.
A brief history of the military is important to teach ourselves and our children in order for them to learn where is came from and why it was created. Violent conflict, and the organization of society for such conflict, has always been a vital part of history. No matter what country you are in, there is a history of the military and why it was needed from the oldest battle accounts of the Egyptian king Thutmose III to Mongols. Armed force is a constituent element of a country’s combined military services. Modern armed forces are commonly divided into specialized branches dealing with land, naval, and air warfare. The military is a socialist program that citizens pay for members and their families to be well taken care of so that citizens are protected from potential threats.
The most amazing thing about the military, at least in the USA, is that it is one of the most diverse groups you will ever see. There are different races, cultures, lgbtqia, religions, political leanings, etc and they are able to forget those differences and just be together in a symbol of brotherhood while watching each other's backs. It would be amazing to see this outside of the military.
November 11th was chosen for a reason. In 1921, an unknown World War I American soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This site, on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River and the city of Washington, D.C., became the focal point of reverence for America’s veterans. Similar ceremonies occurred earlier in England and France, where an unknown soldier was buried in each nation’s highest place of honor (in England, Westminster Abbey; in France, the Arc de Triomphe). These memorial gestures all took place on November 11, giving universal recognition to the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m., November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). It's significant.
Here are some ways to teach children about veterans day:
1. Let them speak to veterans. It could be someone in your family or simply someone you know.
2. Read a book about veterans and what it means to the people of country you live in. The website Teaching With Children’s Books has a number of options for kids of all ages.
3. Raise money. I have noticed within my country that many veterans are forgotten about and forced into situations such as homelessness due to health issues from war that they don't have control over. It's saddening to see. Find veteran organizations near you amd have your kids give some money to those organizations. Our veterans need to be cared for.
4. Talk about the freedoms that the country has due to the military. Discuss these with your child to help make them aware of the everyday liberties they have thanks to veteran and explain how many of those in the military often cannot see family members due to fighting for the country.
5. Watch a Veterans Day video for kids. A great way to impart Veterans Day knowledge on your little one while providing visuals is to show them a Veterans Day video for kids.
So let us not make this day about something political. Make it about the ones who survived the horrors of war and who deserve to be recognized for that. Make it about the history of the day and of the military what it represents to us and why it something worth having. Make it a teaching moment for our kids about the history of the military and the history of the day and what it represents. The sacrifices of each nation’s military are big and small – made up of heroic moments that define a person and lifelong concessions for the sake of defending freedoms.

RAF activates second F-35 squadron in Marham
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 12/12/2023 - 22:23 in Military
A second frontline squadron was formed to pilot the RAF's F-35 Lightning stealth fighters in Marham. The first stealth jet landed at RAF Marham in Norfolk in 2018, arriving from the USA, where they are manufactured.
Squadron 617, famous as Dambusters, was the first to be equipped with the F-35 aircraft.
Now, a second squadron, the 809 Naval Air Squadron (NAS), which is known as "Immortals" and has a phoenix on its crest, has been reformed to also fly the jet.
The squadron was originally formed in 1941 and operated most recently in 1982, flying during the Falklands War, before the squadron was deactivated in December of that year.
As part of the ceremony, former 809 NAS commander Tim Gedge presented the new commander Nick Smith with the coat of arms of the squadron.
Air Marshal Harvey Smyth, RAF Air and Space Commander, later said that the plan is to be able to “ promptly deploy two Lightnings frontline squadrons at sea, up to 24 aircraft” by the end of 2025. “It's about adding more capacity to our combat air force,” he said.
He continued: "The main role of the Royal Air Force is to obtain air control at any time of conflict.
"We are seeing this clearly happening in Ukraine, at this moment, where neither side has been able to obtain air control.
"As they didn't, they ended up falling into a trench war in the style of World War I, a war of friction, and this is mainly because neither side controls the airspace above.
"This really highlights the incredible importance of air control and a vital part of it is the F-35, the fifth generation capabilities."
The squadron will go through a “very intensive preparation period” for much of next year and will continue to grow in size with the arrival of new jets and more personnel.
The Air Marshal said they will be ready to be deployed on the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales in 2025.
