Every year on the anniversary of DDay, French citizens take sand from Omaha Beach and rub it onto the gravestones of fallen soldiers who gave their lives to liberate Europe. It gives the letters a golden shine. They do this for all 9,386 American soldiers buried there.

Republicans in 2024 see Hitler and Nazi Germany as aspirational.
Trump would have praised Hitler in 1938 and bragged about love letters.
History has the facts of fascism. It was horrible. It targeted and killed millions. It was crushed by democracy. The end of fascism and victory by the US in WWII, along with strong domestic social policies like social security, GI bill, and tax rates that provided all the spending with no deficits or borrowing, ushered in the strongest economy ever seen.
80 years after D-Day, lazy, crass Republicans have failed so horribly at personal growth and histroical awareness that they want to regurgitate fascism. Fcuk that.

" I had it bad. The empty camera trembled in my hands. It was a new kind of fear shaking my body from toe to hair, and twisting my face. Remembrance of landing on Omaha Beach, D-Day. "

AT REST BETWEEN CHANNEL TRIPS
This charcoal drawing by Coast Guard Combat Artist Russell S. Dickerson, of Springfield, Illinois, depicts two cutters of the Coast Guard Invasion Rescue Fleet tied up at an English port. This fleet of 83-foot ships saved more than 900 Allied Invaders from perishing in the English Channel on D-day and during the critical days that followed.
