"Namibia rejects Germany’s Support of the Genocidal Intent of the Racist Israeli State against Innocent Civilians in Gaza On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions. The German Government is yet to fully atone for the genocide it committed on Namibian soil.
Therefore, in light of Germany’s inability to draw lessons from its horrific history, President @hagegeingob expresses deep concern with the shocking decision communicated by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany yesterday, 12 January 2024, in which it rejected the morally upright indictment brought forward by South Africa before the #InternationalCourtofJustice that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in #Gaza. Worryingly, ignoring the violent deaths of over 23 000 Palestinians in Gaza and various United Nations reports disturbingly highlighting the internal displacement of 85% of civilians in Gaza amid acute shortages of food and essential services, the German Government has chosen to defend in the International Court of Justice the genocidal and gruesome acts of the Israeli Government against innocent civilians in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Germany cannot morally express commitment to the United Nations Convention against genocide, including atonement for the genocide in Namibia, whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and genocide in Gaza. Various international organizations, such as Human Rights Watch have chillingly concluded that Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza.
President Geingob reiterates his call made on 31 December 2023, “No peace-loving human being can ignore the carnage waged against Palestinians in Gaza”. In that vein, President Geingob appeals to the German Government to reconsider its untimely decision to intervene as a third-party in defence and support of the genocidal acts of Israel before the International Court of Justice."

Namibian Presidency (official account), 13 Jan 2024
this comes after germany announced that they, in defense of israel, intend to intervene as a third party in the ICJ trial
in the official government statement, they argue that the accusations of genocide against israel "has no basis whatsoever," and declares themselves to be experts on recognizing genocide by virtue of the fact that they're the ones that committed the holocaust (yes, seriously)
small problem for our self-declared genocide experts though — it wasn't until 2021, over a hundred years after germany killed and enslaved tens of thousands of herero and nama people (in what is now present-day namibia), that the german state was willing to officially recognize that they had committed a genocide; a genocide where, about 80% of the indigenous population of the herero and nama people were wiped out, thousands were enslaved in concentrations camps (with death rates between 45 and 75 percent), and many hundreds medically experimented on.
here's a good article from al jazeera which lays out the history of the genocide, and why germany's offer of "reparations" were met with disgust and anger in namibia
this part, in particular, is worth highlighting:
Today, German Namibians make up 2 percent of Namibia’s 2.5 million population but own about 70 percent of the country’s land, most of it used for agriculture. Multiple state-led efforts to legally restore ancestral land to Indigenous peoples by buying land from private farmers have only partially succeeded because it has proven too expensive for the state. Although the Namibian government sought to transfer 43 percent (15 million hectares) of its total arable land to landless communities by 2020, it has only succeeded in acquiring about three million hectares.
#palestine#israel#gaza#south africa#germany#icj hearing#there's literally no country in planet earth that's less fit to speak of what constitutes a genocide than germany

Genocide Remembrance Day went ahead this weekend at Lüderitz despite being snubbed by some officials.
The event was hosted by the Ovaherero Traditional Authority and the chairperson of the Nama Traditional Leaders Association (NTLA).
...
“We will be unveiling this memorial stone to commemorate the lives of these men, women and children who were forced to scrape the skulls of decapitated bodies, removing brains, hair and eyes from the skulls for racist scientific experimentation,” he said.“However, we were told by the National Heritage Council (NHC) that we must remove the memorial stone after the event, as erecting a stone there still requires consultation by stakeholders and approval.

[BBC is UK State Media]
A vessel suspected by the Namibian authorities to be carrying military cargo intended for Israeli use in the ongoing war in Gaza has been blocked from docking in the southern African country.
Namibian Justice Minister Yvonne Dausab told state media the ship was stopped because it had “explosive material destined for Israel".
The MV Kathrin, which set off from Vietnam, had requested permission to dock in the port of Walvis Bay – before sailing north, on a suspected route towards the Mediterranean via the Strait of Gibraltar.
Rights groups had warned that Namibia could have been implicated in potential human rights violations had it allowed the vessel to dock.[...]
The MV Kathrin, which was set to dock at Walvis Bay on Monday from Vietnam, was stopped in accordance with Namibia's support for the Palestinian people and the country’s call for an end to the violence in Gaza, Ms Dausab told the state-run New Era news website.
Citing a police investigation, Ms Dausab said the vessel was "indeed carrying explosive material destined for Israel, and was therefore prohibited from entering Namibian waters". “Namibia complies with our obligation not to support or be complicit in Israeli war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, as well as its unlawful occupation of Palestine,” she said.[...]
Namibian human rights organisation the Economic and Social Justice Trust (ESJT) welcomed the move.
"We are pleased that our government has decided to respect international law and decided not to be complicit to genocide," ESJT's Herbert Jauch told the BBC[...]
Namport has not responded to the BBC for comment about the MV Kathrin.

Germany is consistently allergic to being on the right side of history and human rights
This, then decriminalizing CSEM, not putting 9 gang rapists in jail, age of consent is 14, putting foster kids with known pedophiles, and referring unemployed women to work in brothels, as well as complete decriminalization of the purchase of sex, which has exploded sex trafficking and the wider rape economy, Germany is increasingly becoming a hotspot and utopia for all things sexual abuse.
Then consider it commit the Namibian genocide, then the European Holocaust which killed 6 million Jews and millions more Roma/Sinti, Slav, disabled people, LGBTQ, etc. And is now defending Israel's genocide of Palestinians and implemented fascism level restrictions on criticizing Israel. Consider Germany also forced women into sex slavery in both genocides it commit.
What the fuck is wrong with Germany? This place is rotten at the core. German economics is rape economics.

“On Namibian soil, #Germany committed the first genocide of the 20th century in 1904-1908, in which tens of thousands of innocent Namibians died in the most inhumane and brutal conditions,” Namibian President Hage Geingob said in a press release posted Jan. 13 on X, formerly Twitter. “The German Government is yet to fully atone for the genocide it committed on Namibian soil.” Geingob wrote that he was shocked by Germany’s decision, announced a day earlier, to intervene as a third party in defense of Israel after South Africa brought a case against Israel in the International Court of Justice. South Africa accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, where thousands of civilians have been killed after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel. “Germany cannot morally express commitment to the United Nations Convention against genocide, including atonement for the genocide in Namibia, whilst supporting the equivalent of a holocaust and genocide in Gaza,” Geingob said."
