Cyrano blinks down at the cake for a solid five seconds before he breaks into a guffaw and slaps his leg. He can only assume that this was offered as a joke, given the nature of it, but he can't help but to appreciate the work that went into making something so ridiculous.
"You know, if I thought for a second that I would even be allowed to serve this in the first place, I might have told you yes. As things stand, however, I think the academy policy will most assuredly block me from giving this to my students."
It was definitely a good one, though. Provided he could remember it, this was definitely going in the books.

Cyrano could hardly consider an idea like that. For him ambition came before the four walls that surrounded him, and even his own culture took a back seat to the drive to succeed in the goals he had set before him. Friends could always be made, after all. But then again, he was speaking from the position of one who was now quite privileged and had had a full life behind him. Maybe the cultures set in his blood meant very little when they were now so deeply integrated into himself. And maybe this one was a little more like Clavell, who seemed to feel the need to slip into a skin more fitting for the world around him than to boldly be himself (granted, Cyrano really doubted that given their attitude up to this point). And really for some people, as silly as it seemed to him, maybe the idea of traveling into a new world and new experiences was just a little too much.
"Well, I could certainly do that, but given your reaction to the idea I don't think I will," Cyrano replied shifting his weight as he placed a hand on his hip. "I quite like my business, and it has never been the business of forcing people into situations they absolutely didn't ask for." This was a blatant lie. He had forced people into situations they didn't ask for all the time. Not that he could remember that at the moment. "Should you ever change your mind, you can contact me whenever and I'll be happy to accommodate you. Do you have a pokemon that can get messages over long distances? I know rotom phones aren't the norm everywhere, but I wouldn't want to leave you without a chance for you to get in touch."
Even now, he was being fairly pushy about it.
Ree canât help but scoff a bit.
âTreasured business partner ⊠as if. Iâm just some nobody kid thatâs good at fighting and syncing with my partners.â
Heâs trying to hype them up. Ree knows this, but somehow, they canât seem to acknowledge or accept it. Grownups always have a catch to these types of things.
Cautiousness is important.
âAnyway, if you really wanted me to attend this academy of yours, youâd have to talk to my dad first,â they add, shrugging their shoulders. âEspecially to some hoity-toity expensive place on the other side of the world. This is my home. I wouldnât have nobody in Unova.â

"Can't afford it?" Cyrano sounded shocked. "Does my Academy really rely on student funding that much?"
He probably would have known that if he thought about it for even a moment. As much as Cyrano enjoyed picking up talented battlers to bring into his school, the majority of his students paid a pretty penny to attend. The sad truth of the matter was that all of that high end tech and state of the art facilities required a lot of money to develop and then maintain. There was little anyone in the facility could do about that much. But Cyrano hadn't really started the Academy to make money. He'd wanted to support and develop the talents of battlers all across Unova and beyond. Speaking with someone not in a privileged enough position to attend just convinced Cyrano he needed to focus on bolstering his exchange program. He didn't want money of all things to be what kept a talented ace from reaching new heights.
"You certainly do seem to have what it takes to walk among the rest of my student body, though." he continued, deciding at once what he was going to do about this particular situation. "Should you ever feel a desire to join, you let me know. I'll be happy to find a place for a treasured business partner."
And he would work on the program when he got back home. He had to do what he could to provide an opportunity to others of such strong skill, even if they didn't have the funds to attend.
âYour academyâŠ? No way. I wouldnât be able to afford goinâ there even if I wanted to.â
which ⊠they donât. Theyâve got a lot going on right here in Alola. and besides all that ⊠they wouldnât have any support in Unova from Skull Gang.
Thatâs the worst thing Ree can imagine.
âIâm good at battling, though,â they add, unable to help themself from boasting a bit. âI completed my trials in less than six months, and then I challenged our champion. I lost, but⊠Iâm gunnin â for it this year too.â

The way that he suddenly opened his eyes and dipped his head low to gaze at her for a moment shifted the tone of the conversation on a dime. He wondered what could possibly be going on inside that head to cause a reaction like that. He would have expected her to be rather used to conversations like this but she had appeared to space out for a moment like something had snatched her right out of the moment... Not that he wasn't used to people being surprised by him, but it caught him just as off guard. Was it surprise that did that, or pain? He didn't have any real information that would give him reason to assume as much, and doing so verbally would be rude.
But the pocket of seriousness died just as instantly as it had come when Cyrano made the decision that whatever had just happened would probably be best dealt with by drowning it out with mirth. No one wanted to ruminate on past experiences. As much as he often missed memories he knew must have at one time been precious, he knew there were some things that probably were better off forgotten. If it was something sad, even though he couldn't be sure of it, he didn't want to pry too much or make the situation worse.
"Well, then!" he remarked, drawing out his rotom phone. "In that case I'll send you a form to fill out with your testimony. That way you can take all the time you need on it and send it back to me when you're done. I can't wait to see what you have to share with me."
Having her testimony that would be used in advertising? This was rather sudden; coming from the school that's in her home region and only attending it as a dual enrollment program between the two schools.
And then using that nickname in particular also caught her off guard.
"Uh...Y-Yeah...! Sorry...kinda got me out of my train of thought when you came over for a sec."

"You don-- Oh! Hahaha, you really are funny when you want to be, aren't you?" Cyrano would slap him over the shoulder if he didn't worry he might actually get himself banned from the battle subway.
The proposition set his eyes glimmering with excitement, though. Learning about and adopting technologies from places that were willing to work with him was all well and good, of course. However, the idea of just... Reverse engineering anything he wanted was far more interesting of an idea to him. To have the ability to simply create their own innovations just with some astute observations and a little bit of experimentation. And if it could prove beneficial for both of their facilities, he was sure any setbacks in the process could be... mostly swept under the rug.
"Ah, isn't marvelous!?" Cryano harped to the comment bout terastellization. "When I visited my friend Clavell in Paldea and discovered its existence, I could barely contain my excitement. I knew I had to bring that kind of experience in to Unova. If I could spread the same similar intricacies from other regions I absolutely would, but I'm still working on that one. But terastellizing is by far one of the more interesting of these, however. The way you can change a battle in your favor by altering the type of your pokemon creates such a thrill."
He wove his way through the expanse of the Terrarium and slowly the climate began shifting around them, making way for the tropical surroundings of this corner. It was a beautiful habitat for the pokemon that began appearing here and there, enjoying the greenery and the beautiful flowers. Just seeing the place flourishing was enough to make Cyrano beam with pride. None of this would have been possible if he hadn't taken the first steps.
His grin brightened and he seemed to stand a bit taller as Cyrano approved of his proposed picnic. Perhaps it was a bit silly to be so excited over something as trivial as that, but on the uncommon occasion that Emmet actually managed to actually slow down and relax, it was often some of the simpler things in life that he enjoyed the most. It was hard to slow down, but it was worth it for the little moments of life he'd miss out on otherwise. That could certainly wait until a bit later, though. Right now, he was much more interested in learning about and seeing more of the terrarium. And hopefully, they'd find the ideal picnic spot along the way! Food always tasted better at the end of a journey, too.
"...No. I do not believe I 'catch your drift'." He did air quotes around the idiom. "If you are further suggesting something- you will have to explain it to me. Clearly and concisely." A small pause, realizing that he might be coming across as a little too demanding. "Please." There. That was better! Though he was fairly confident Cyrano knew him well enough not to be offended, he still wanted to try his best to be polite while he was technically a guest in the other's facility- which he was only becoming more impressed and excited about by the second! He excitedly swung his arms as he followed the director, doing his best to keep his pace a bit slower than usual, to match the other's.
"If you would ever like assistance in remembering how something functions, feel free to let me know!" He sounded a bit too excited as he offered his assistance. "I do not know much about newer technology. But I like learning about it when I can! Between the two of us I am sure we can reverse engineer anything you need!" It was a win/win in his book. He'd help Cyrano remember something, and in return he'd gain further insight on how certain terrarium features operated and maybe be able to use some of that information on improving the subway. "I had actually never heard of terastellization until now! It makes battles really interesting!! Eelektross's terra type is flying. It is verrry handy for when mold breaker negates his ability to levitate. If Ingo and I were to challenge passengers here, I would not need to worry as much when he brings out Haxorus to use earthquake..." A tired little laugh. He'd been terrorized by that horrendous combination for far too long. "And I am excited to see what other strategies I can come up with too!!!"

"And at a price like that. I think the staff will be quite proud of me for this one." They wouldn't. "By the by, how is your battling skills? I can't recall if I've ever seen you attending my academy before, but I'd be interesting in seeing how well you do in the ring. Maybe bring some more cultural insight to my school?"
He didn't expect this particular line would get very far, to be honest, but it was worth the shot. He couldn't think of any students of his that were actually from Alola, and any way he could improve his facility by sharing knowledge and companionship across borders was always a good opportunity. He didn't have much of an idea of the battling ability of this kid, but that could really be figured out later when he had established an interest in the first place.
He was pretty sure that if Ree had any interest and skill to join in the first place they probably already would have.

â„« Cyrano and Sexuality â„
{It's that time of the year to talk about individual muse sexuality, so here's a post about Cyrano's as I portray him. This is will all be under a cut for nsfw and suggestive themes, so please keep that in mind going forward.}
â Cryano as I portray him is homoromantic and homosexual. I know it looks like he's wearing a wedding band, but until I get canon confirmation that piece, for my portrayal at least, is merely a fashion piece and not meant to indicate marriage. In my brain he's had the longest unending crush on Clavell known to man, but he's also long since accepted that despite all his very obvious efforts to romance him the feelings will never be reciprocated, and he's fine with that. He's still going to occasionally shoot his shot, but generally speaking he's quite comfortable how things are between them.
â That being said, Cyrano isn't completely off the table for other muses to ship with him either. He's fairly easy to get along with, and if he starts developing feelings for them he'll definitely do his very best to be what he considers very obvious and win them over.
â And if it hasn't really become clear yet, Cyrano's idea of very obvious flirting is probably not very obvious at all. He flirts with people he likes by lording over them and trying to coerce them in some shenanigan or another. Like his insistence that using premier balls would make Clavell look cool coming from a place of trying to get Clavell on to his style so he'd fall head over heels. Other examples might be "inviting" a muse onto a vacation trip by heavily insisting on it, being very determined that the answer is yes even if he hasn't gotten that answer, and then trying his very best to sweep them away on a trip they did not ask for and is in no way prepared for just because he thinks it's the perfect romantic getaway. Does he say things like, "I like you and I want to go out sometime"? Why, of course not. That much is already obvious, in his head.
â Cyrano is quite jealous and possessive of his partner, but not at all in an aggressive or angry sort of way. It doesn't bother him if his partner or potential partner gets a lot of attention or talks to other people or even becomes attracted to others. His jealousy and possessiveness doesn't come from a place of insecurity. Instead, Cyrano just likes to "brand" the things and people that are associated with him, as if to say, "look at this wonderful person! I found this wonderful person! I romanced this wonderful person! Don't you wish that were you?" And he gets frustrated (i.e. jealous) if other people don't notice how perfectly he's left his mark on this person. For him, his successful relationship is something like a trophy that he wants to show off to everyone around, just because he's convinced that everyone should be as amazed by them as he is.
â Cyrano would probably work really well in a polycule but he would become obscenely obnoxious about it. If you think all of his sounds like too much, imagine if it was multiplied by like, four.
â Cyrano, while likely easy to attract if you're working for it and very insistent if he's into you, doesn't jump into relationships without considering them extensively. Like, once he's sure, he's sure, but before that he has to write a whole dissertation on why this relationship needs to be a thing. He'll go over the pros and cons for ages, juggling the idea of it in his head before he finally lands on an answer. He might even be very sure of his attraction through all of this, but the logistics of the relationship are very important to him.
â And speaking of, Cryano doesn't take any particular role in the relationship or lean any specific way when it comes to being dominant or submissive. Either emotionally or sexually. He kind of just does what feels nice for him at the time and he expects that his partner will be more than happy to comply. He has about an even swing from taking charge to letting his partner take charge in both aspects, just because he likes experiencing all kinds of possibilities or because he's just more sure about some things than he is others.
â When it comes to behaviors in a relationship, Cryano really enjoys spoiling his partner with luxurious presents, and he takes pride in being able to lavish his partner in material wealth. That doesn't mean he lacks with the emotional aspect of it, though. He takes great pleasure in romantic evenings and quality time with his partner, and he really enjoys physical touch and affirmation as forms of love languages. That being said, he is not great with acts of service as a love language. He does not understand what acts are even really considered service, and whether he does something for his partner or not is often unprompted and usually unwanted and he has zero ability to read the room on that front. If he does something for his partner, it is almost always completely unnecessary and obnoxiously over the top and he thinks that's wonderful.

{Guess who's finally back, y'all? I have a ton of stuff to catch up on across all of my accounts, but before that I wanna make sexuality posts for all of the muses that don't have one yet. Abe, Saguaro, Cyrano, and Byron I think is the extent of it. I would make some for Kaoru and Souan, but I'm still kind of struggling to get any kind of muse for either of them so I think I should wait until I catch up on their blog, if that even happens. Right now I'm just going to focus on folks I do have muse for and do theirs.}
{Then after that I'll start trying to catch up on threads I owe.}

{Sorry about the absence, folks. I've had a pretty busy weekend and haven't had a chance to get online. It's the summer and Sibling hasn't gone on the road yet, so that's likely to be the case for a while longer yet.}
{But! If I get some time to pull out my computer I'll try to do something. For the meantime just be patient with me a little longer~ I might pop in and answer asks at some point, but activity will continue to be low until I'm no longer needed.}
{Oh, I should say, though, that you can always catch me on Discord if you need me. I can usually answer that one, and while rp might be shorter there I can do it! So y'all just lemme know if you need me or my disc. âąvâą}

A championship! How had he not been informed? Or... Had he been informed and simply forgot? Either case was very possible at this point. Oh, but what was he thinking? He had a business deal to manage. Not getting a large order was pretty unfortunate, but to be honest, he really hadn't even been able to get that many. It was one kid running a program on their own, and whatever help they were getting likely wasn't going to be enough to keep up with big demand like what he was asking for...
He could definitely take this out of the school funds, couldn't he...?
Fighting through every ounce of wild, off the wall thought speeding through his mind at a breakneck pace, Cyrano continued this cyclic internal monologue for some time, simply sitting in silence with his eyes closed, as if he were in very deep thought. When he did eventually come back around to his initial thought, which was honestly only whether or not he should make another purchase, he gave a firm nod as if some very big decision had been made instead.
"Very well, I think that will be perfectly suitable amount," Cyrano replied as if he hadn't been sitting there for a good four minutes just thinking. "And I'll let you know which flavors are the most popular among my students to help with your future decisions."
That was, if he could even remember which flavors those were.
âThis months flavors are watermelon warhead, lemon square surprise, takis hot honey â cos thatâs the flavor thatâs always in rotation â and baked sweet potato.â
The flavors are always unique, thatâs for sure âŠ
âRight now, I canât handle any big orders. The alolan championship conference is next month, anâ iâm gettinâ ready for that. But I can make a decent order for ya, if thatâs what you need.â

"Well, I do like to try to emphasize battling here at Blueberry Academy," Cyrano barked with a confident air. "I want to give young and talented trainers a chance to really flex their skills in a way that just isn't possible with a lot of battle leagues and gym challenges. I would argue that the fact you even have an outlet for double battles to begin with is rather forward thinking of your region! Oh... I'm rambling aren't I? If our clubs is a good way to drawn in students who have the battle skills but not the drive, I think I'll start using that in advertising... Hmm... "Well, that would depend on what kind of flavors you have now," Cyrano chirped back. "I might be willing to put in for something interesting. Your last batch was quite the hit among our students."
He twirled his hat and popped it back on his head, proud of himself for making such a good call on this young entrepreneur. They looked a little bit like they were about to implode, but that was just all the more reason to keep supporting them. And that very important... uh... goal they were working towards...
What was it they were trying to do again...?
Oh well, cookies were cookies.
"And I was wondering how large of an order you think you could handle. We ran out of them far too quickly last time, but then it was just a trial, wasn't it? I'd wager we could do an awful lot more now that you have a foot in the door."
@blueskilled approached!
"Back again," Cyrano hummed, adjusting the brim of his hat. "How did your fundraiser go? Did it take off or did you come back to try something new?"
Oh yeah. Ree remembers this guy â heâs the guy they sold some Skull Scout cookies to, right before the whole thing with ghetsis went down.
They had been so stressed and angry that they almost forgot.
But this guy made an impression. Ree looks up at him, and the eevee in their lapâs ear twitches.
âOh, yeah, it went great,â they say, a smile twitching at the corners of their mouth. âReally great. Sold a lot, earned a lot. Iâm makinâ new flavors every month now! Why? Did you want some more, old man?â

"Rescheduling," he corrected. "And I have some paperwork to fill out for, ah, adjustments to the... The, um... Well, I'm sure Miss Briar will handle it in any case."
Now that he thought about it he couldn't really remember what it was those papers were for, specifically. This time he felt it less likely his brain was behind the error, though. Those sorts of management things were terribly boring and he really couldn't care less if he remembered it or not. That's why he had assistants in the school in the first place.
He went to the front desk and got a visitor pass for his new friend. Oh! Did he get their name? He would have to get their name. Usually these passes were reserved for groups he was doing business with or coaches, but since he had someone here who might think about applying he didn't see any reason it couldn't apply.
"We can take a look at the school store and cafeteria first," he said, handing the pass down to Silva. "I can introduce you to our internal economy system and show you how things get done here at Blueberry... By the way, what is your name?"
she loved it when she didn't have to illegally enter somewhere!!! it made her life so much easier and alleviated the amount of actual crime she had to commit!! unova seemed really good about that sort of thing as well--better than other regions--and being enabled to do illegal activities only made her like the region more!!
silva let out a little laugh at the mention of maybe changing her mind. she found that unlikely, but know knows!! she liked making new friends, and schools sure were full of them! though if the matter of family got involved...or really needing to stay in one place.
not much her style, or for comfort. she can't remember the last place she stayed for longer than a month.

Oh! Alola! Now he remembered exactly what Po Town was. There had been a lot of terrible things to be said about that place. Some run-down crime town with no inhabitants but delinquents that wanted to see the world burn. He felt like he could say from relative experience that that wasn't always the case, and even if a place was heavy with crime and terrible people, it was often living on the backs of people who simply had no other choice.
And frankly, he had no trouble believing Reese's version of events.
Odds are, a couple of boxes of cookies really wouldn't do much for a place like that. The whole system had to be upturned and modified to better support the people there that really wanted to do good and give them a better chance. He couldn't change the world that they lived in, but that wasn't to say every little bit wouldn't help.
"Now that is far more compelling for a man like me," he replied, nodding to Ree. "You sound like you have a lot of work on your shoulders, so I'll go ahead and take four boxes. I can afford that much at least. I'll serve them at my next party for fun! And something else..."
He tipped his hat back on his head, and then he reached into his coat for his money. A grin pulled over his face as he extended the cash to Ree, eyes softened at the other.
"You have any talented trainers where you're from, you send me a note, eh? Blueberry is always in need of strong trainers."
so itâs a challenge, huh?
This guy is actually not as much of a pain as Ree had initially assumed. In fact, it seems like heâs giving Ree a chance to actually win him over.
What he doesnât realize is⊠Reeâs been pulling these sort of stunts since they were eleven, and tugging at heartstrings is something they refined as a craft.
ââ okay.
Mister, Iâve been usinâ the script cos thatâs the most effective way to do business, but the truth is? Most of the people livinâ in my town are runaways or people rejected by Alola, and that includes me. I donât got a mom or nothin, and I work hard every day to help bring in money to help everybody in town.
we all care about each other a lot. Some of us donât have nobody but each other. We had to do a huge renovation recently cause there was tons of mold in the house but that costs a lot! Iâve been battlinâ and puttin aside money for help with that, but ⊠I really want to do more! And thatâs why Iâm doing this.â
(the fact that theyâre mostly telling the truth is ⊠helping.)
âI wouldnât be sellinâ these if I didnât need the money, mister.â
