Various close-ups from Maria and younger sister Consuelo pictured, according to Margarita Vicens, in 1934. If the date given is correct (which I assume it is), Maria would be 22, and her sister Consuelo (according to Maria, she was born in 1925) would be 9 years old!! which is clearly impossible!! I think Consuelo is a teenager here.

It's interesting to note that in Margarita Vicens book "María Montez, Su vida", the sibligs are listed as follows:

So Ada, Consuelo and Luz have no birthdates in neither of these two books.

Jaime is listed he was born in 1925 in Antonio Perez Arnay's book while Margarita says in her book that Jaime passed away in 1979 aged 51, that would meant he was born in 1927 or 1928, so the date given in the book doesn't fit, but if you go to GENI Family tree site, you'll find he was born the 28th September 1927 and I do really believe this is the correct date of his birthday since the person who admins his profile at this website is surnamed Pombrol, and The Pombrols are distant cousins from The Gracias.

With Teresita we have a similar "problem", in Antonio's book it's written she was born in 1932 but she passed away in January 2023 aged 93, so it's very probably she was born in 1929 rather in 1930.

About Lucita, we have a similar problem... in Margarita Vicens book it says she passed away in 1979 due to a cancer, but there is no information about her birth date, I've read in some sources that she was born in 1929. If you look at her pictures, she looks very young, even younger than her sister Teresita!! but we all know and agree that Teresita is the youngest one, so it's very likely that Lucita was born in 1926.

Now here it comes very interesting information about Adita. According to GENI, Adita was born the 24th December 1924, in 1946 she was 22 years old (that's a fact) and she was married twice! She got married the 11th May 1957 with Otto R. Nemeth, when she was 32 years old. When she passed away, the 8th February 1993, she was Ada Teresa Thomas. It's not known if she had any children.

So as you can see, Consuelo couldn't be born in 1925, my guessing is that she was born circa 1917, so in that photo she was 17 years old. That would make so much sense.

So the updated list would be as follows:

Walking in, you saw your bestie Bianca with the Street Profits & B-Fab sitting at one of the tables. The EST saw you & cheered "There she is!! You went over to their table & sat down.

"Thanks y'all, but I wouldn't be too sure. The line up looks pretty good & any of these ladies could win. I mean, Chelsea Green, Zoey Stark, Tiffany Stratton, Naomi & Lyra. I'm nothing in front of them." Causing Bianca to roll her eyes "girl, are you doubting yourself again? Uh uh, you got this! We literally grew up together & you're a bad bitch in that ring! You & Bianca turned around & saw the group of men walking in, wearing all black. Yup, it was them The Bloodline. Although, this one seemed more intimidating, no Roman, no Usos, and sadly poor Paul got triple power bombed by the group at the end of the show. This version was serious, now Solo Sikoa was taking over as the leader, calling himself 'The Tribal Chief .' He had his cousin Jacob Fatu whom he recruited last week from the Indies & the two Tongans from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa.

Yup, they were a dangerous bunch. You were a bit terrified by them, especially seeing them jump the roster after Roman & Jimmy left. You even got along with the original members of The Bloodline & had get togethers with them since Naomi is also like a sister to you. You spoke to Solo once in awhile too, but that changed after Roman left & he stopped talking to you. Somehow there was a certain member of the group whom you couldn't keep your eyes off of, Tonga Loa.

Something about him was different to you. You've watched a few matches of him during his run in New Japan; he seemed to have a different aura & wasn't all over the place like his brother & the other Bloodline members. You've seen his Instagram as well, he was always smiling so bright & posting up with his dog, nephews, nieces, friends, family & even Krispy Kreme. You felt like he had a bright personality under that mysterious one. You were getting lost looking at him while he was grabbing food & chatting with Solo at the Buffet, until a body stepped in front of the pair & snapped its fingers at you.

Your gaze broke off & you looked up to see his older brother Tama giving you a stern look, cocking his eyebrow at you. He wasn't impressed. "Whatchu looking at little girl?" Loa & Solo stopped talking & turned their attention to you. Your face burned up & you felt embarrassed that he called you out like that. The room went quiet. Bianca scooted her chair closer to you in case you needed backup, you were a sister to her & she knew their game, they've messed with her husband & his friends & she wasn't gonna let them mess with you.

You felt the tension in the room rise & finally replied "nothing...I was just looking at the food being served today. I haven't eaten yet so I was curious-" "Bullshit!" He cut you off, "I know you weren't looking at the food, you were looking at my little toko, what's your deal huh? Hasn't anyone told you, it's not polite to stare? What do you want from him?" "Tama, shut up!" yelled Bianca "leave my sis alone! She ain't done nothing wrong. She was just minding her own business until you came yapping along. Not everything is about y'all" Tama widened his eyes at her. "Toko...it's okay! Take it easy!" said Loa while putting a hand on Tama's shoulder.

Montez stood up in front of him "Boy, what the f-ck is your problem? She can look wherever she wants, it's a free country. What are you gonna do? Fine her? The girl just wanted some dang food & y'all are in her way." That's when Solo stepped in; you knew it was about to go down, he spoke "Oh, so it's our fault now?! Why doesn't she be woman & come & get it herself?" Angelo stood up "Aye! The woman can also make decisions for herself too & the last person she needs advice is from someone who dresses up like The Weeknd every week." Everyone bursted out laughing. Solo looked embarrassed.

You swore you saw Loa trying not to laugh, and quickly looked away. That's when Jacob came in & stepped in front of Angelo in Solo's defense, "Oh, so you think you're funny big guy? How about we settle this?" "I'd love to see you try." he challenged. You realized this isn't gonna end well, you didn't want to see Angelo getting hurt because of you. You quickly stepped in between Angelo & Jacob "please, don't fight. If you want to, do it in the ring or something next week, but not here. Tonga Loa, I'm so sorry if it looked like I was staring, I wasn't. I should've gotten my food as soon as I got here. I'm sorry it looked that way," you pleaded.

He gave you a look which looked sorry, was he feeling sympathetic towards you? " You have nothing to apologize for Y/N" he said. " WHAT?! Are you feeling sorry for her?!" questioned Tama. "It's okay bro, just leave it. She just wanted food. You're making something out of nothing. We don't need to get banned from catering again. Let's just go & eat, I'm hungry." said Loa, leading his brother away from the scene & towards a table on the far end. Solo gave everyone a warning glare & followed the brothers. Jacob gave Angelo one last look "see you in the ring next week." he said before walking away with his group.

Angelo smirked at him. "Oh my God Angelo, are you okay? I'm so sorry y'all. It's all my fault!" you cried. Angelo hugged you "sis, it's okay. We'll be okay. We're a family remember? Tama's the one who caused this shit & me & Tez wanna teach him another lesson, this one's for messing with you. We'll be okay. Just keep your distance from them, okay?" He assured as he rubbed your back. You nodded, you were so worried about him & Montez. "Will y'all be okay?" asked Bianca hugging her husband. "We'll be good, they need their asses kicked good. We'll have back up too. KO is here so we'll be even" said Montez earnings smiles from you & his wife.

"Y/N, you didn't eat anything" said B-Fab. "You know what? I'll grab Sushi on the way back. I'm not that hungry. Plus, I don't want to eat here. The energy is pretty off " you answered. "True, let me & Binky take you to that sushi bar around the corner. Get all the Cali rolls to celebrate the big win tonight, my treat. Go pack your things & we'll meet you at the car." said Tez. "I still think you should grab a snack, something to occupy your stomach on the way there, cause your qualifying match was brutal. You must be starving" said Bianca.

Bianca & Montez are like the big brother & sister you never had, they cared about you so much just as much as you did for them, you were grateful for them. You nodded & thanked them & went towards the buffet table, grabbed a paper plate & placed some spring rolls. B-Fab came up to you putting both of her hands on the sides of your arms, holding in you place. She glanced behind you, and quickly looked back at you & whispered "Girl, I know you're pissed off at them cause of what they did, but Loa won't stop looking at you ever since you got up from our table." Your eyes widened, you gotta admit you liked him even more after he calmed his Gremlin brother down when he went berserk on you for no reason. "B, I gotta tell you something, but not here." you said. You looked over towards Bianca & The Street Profits who were talking to Jade Cargill. You snuck a look towards the Bloodline's table to see Loa quickly turning his head away from looking at you & to his family who were too occupied in the conversation & their food to notice him looking anymore.

You grabbed her hand and lead her to your locker room. You shut the door, "Okay, I don't know how to tell you this, but I really like him. I just don't know if he feels the same. But, you caught him looking at me." B-Fab, raised her brows in response "I had a feeling you did girl, you were staring at him in catering weren't you?" She teased, you blushed in response & nodded. "But what will Bianca & Tez say? They can't stand The Bloodline & The Bloodline can't stand us either. Plus, the way Tama was being a dick to you for just looking at him? They're dangerous." she said. "I know." you frowned "that's the sad part, his family seems to hate me. Solo & I were chill too until Roman left. I guess it's whatever. He'll probably find someone else who's better. Someone that they'll all accept & like & get her to manage The Bloodline." you sighed.

She placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, "don't feel that way, you're gorgeous girl. Any guy would be lucky to have you. It's just a matter of time, maybe they'll turn babyface a year later? Then we can forget about it all." she laughed. You finished your spring rolls & took a while to pack, you were the type of person who would bring everything with you not to only help yourself, but others so you didn't want to lose anything. The arena was mostly empty by now as the show ended,it was mostly just the backstage crew & tech packing up. You were nearing the exit when you heard a familiar voice call out your name. You froze, could it be him?

Terry Solar-Opposites: Hello. Oh wait wait wait! Meet us down! Jesse and the others and I made a plan to escape! Don’t worry about us! Just meet us down here!

The six heroes then head down to where the prisoners are at. The scene the fades to Miss Frankie waking up and then finds herself trapped in a tube as she gasp.

Principal Cooke: appears right beside Miss Frankie on the left and Kevin on the right Huh? Where are we?!

Jamie: appears between Darcy and Randall I don’t know…

Randall: I don't like this. starts to panic I can't take this! I'M RUNNING OUT OF OXYGEN!

Ms. Perez: appears next between Miss Frankie and Mia Ugh, my head…

Sherbet: appears next to Darcy Am I home yet?

Mia: Oh no! I think they’re gonna test on us!

Miss Frankie gasps.

Miss Frankie: Oh shit! Guys! We have to get out of here!

Darcy tries kick it so it can shattered, but the glass is too indestructible.

Randall starts panicking and breathing in and out.

Terry, Jesse, Monica and the other humans nod at each other for the signal and finally decided to use their escape plan.

Bullet: Hey! Keep it down over there! Or points to some unconscious prisoners you’re all gonna end up like them!

The three captured Mighty Solars and their human allies look at the prisoners and gasp.

All: Ooh. Ow. That’s not fresh. That’s gotta leave a mark!

Cherie: Sir, please. Have mercy. Can we please have some water? There are children and a baby here!

Bullet comes over to give the prisoners some water, but luckily, Monica secretly uses her speed to wish the keys away from the guards.

Bullet: Oh, so you have come to attack me?! Fine! Now nobody gets water! walks away I can’t believe I was forced to stay here and keep on some brats while the others ware watching a crazy woman get destroyed. I can fucking hold a bowl of mercury.

Monica quietly hands Cherie the keys as she hands Pezlie over to Terry, who starts holding her carefully as Cherie uses the keys to unlock the chains on her hands. It worked, until…

Bullet: Hey! What do you think you’re doing? suddenly gets hit by a purple lightning beam

Vil-Gil-An-T appears along with Qausarblast, Mighty Pupa, Starburst, Nova and Montez as Qausarblast uses his invisibility to outrun some of the guards. The guards were defeated once Montez uses an electric pole to knock out the last one.

Cherie: Montez! Phoebe! You guys are okay.

Montez: I was so worried about you.

Phoebe: Me too!

Phoebe hugs Cherie. Vil-Gil-An-T and Qausarblast then unlocks the chains and helps free the prisoners.

Jesse: hugs Vil-Gil-An-T You’re alive! I can’t believe it!

Yumyulack/Vil-Gil-An-T: So? I got knocked out of the sky! You think that’s gonna get rid of me permanently!

Jesse playfully punches Vil-Gil-An-T’s shoulder as the two siblings smiled.

Terry: Wait?! Where’s Kevin and Sherbet?!

Korvo/Qausarblast: sighs I’m sorry, but the Silver Blades got them!

Kevin’s Wife: What?!

The Accused - Mini Plot Drop 2

With the interrogations underway and weeks counting down until The Tribunal begins, an official dossier of the criminals accused has been released to the public. Up until this point, the criminals at hand had yet to be linked to their specific crimes. However, through the determination of litigators for the upcoming Tribunal, the below information has been uncovered:

Duke Gabriel Cuvelier (from France) - Age 62, former advisor to the French King, accused of ordering the hits against The King of Ethiopia & both Scottish rulers (and personally funding the assassinations). Refuses to give any information other than the simple statement - “It is not yet over.”

Duchess Adele Cuvelier (from France) - Age 59, wife to Duke Gabriel, Close comrade and confidante of Prime Minister Nicolette.  suspected of being the lead organizer of the reckoning attack at lal qila. May be responsible for a number of ordered hits.

Apolline Lefrancois (from France/now Florence) - Age 30, former lady-in-waiting to the Queen of France until marrying years ago & moving to Florence, suspected of being the assassin responsible for the death of the Dowager Queen of Ethiopia. Her husband cannot be located & their Florence residency seems abandoned, though signs show that the King of Norway (oldenburg) may have been held there for a time.

Sabino Montez (from unknown/believed to be Spain) - Age 55, a new cook for the royal Ortiz court, arrested upon arrival in Brazil. Accused of the poisoning & murder of Queen Martina Bonaparte, evidence of correspondence with both French & German rebellion leaders, and evidence of involvement in the reckoning. Is a known loyalist of the Ortiz reign and has been suggested to have ties with the French rebellion leaders.

Takuda Toshiko (from Japan/Hong Kong) - Age 32, distant cousin to Emperor Kaito, suspected of involvement in the assassination of the former German King (pre-Elias reign), believed to be the assassin. Former resident of Hong Kong and known dinner guest of the Viceregal. Evidence points to a spy in the Japanese court still working for Takuda due to recent correspondence written in extensive code from the Toshiko court.

Madhavan Parkash (from India) - Age 40, former financial advisor to the Empresses of India, evidence romantically links them  to 1 or more of the Empress’ lovers, suspected to have been behind the poisoning of the Sharma line. Possible involvement in the attack on Thailand’s heirs based on correspondence with Madagascar.

Rishabh Sundar (from India) - Age 29, evidence found to associate them with Takuda Toshiko, believed they are in a relationship. Suspected involvement in the attacks on Germany, may have been involved in the German Tribunal tampering with evidence.

Peter Herrmann (from Germany and/or Scotland) - Age 51, former groundskeeper for the Stuart's in Scotland, had been working in Germany once more before the attack on the Scottish rulers, evidence suggests they were largely involved in the reckoning. Likely to  have been involved in both Scotland’s & Germany’s tragedies. 

Lao Patalung  (From Thailand/now Madagascar possibly): Age 62, former governess to the Thai King & sibling as children. New evidence places them as the last person to visit the deceased heir’s nursery before their untimely passing. Recent ledgers show payments from the Rakotoson’s accounts into their personal accounts, and evidence supports their residency in Madagascar for the last year. 

Pascal Rakotoson  (From Madagascar): Age 43, Former royal advisor to King Mendrika & the Ratsifi family until banished for the misuse of the royal bank. Since their banishment, Pascal was sighted in both Thailand and Japan courts at the time of attack on their royal families, and is believed to be involved in both.

Kaiden Nelson (From Cardiff): Age 22, soldier for the Scottish army and trained under Commander Cailean for a time. Has since  turned into the “golden boy” of the Scottish rebellion. Evidence found of large sums paid to foreign mercenaries, tied directly to the death of the King and Queen of Scotland. 

Meryem Aydin (From Turkey/now China): Age 68, Long-time mistress to the former Sultan of Turkey (pre-Rahmi’s reign) and figurehead of Turkish court. Disappeared shortly after Rahmi’s trial began, only to reinvent herself under a false name in Chinese court. Confessed to falsifying evidence against Shah Khan of Persia to spearhead the order of his death. However, her confession appears too convenient to be trusted. 

While some mysteries remain, including why they had gathered in Russia & what they were planning there, the information in the report is generally considered to be believed, though some may know that not all accusations are true…

To the knowledge of neither Lynns nor the Bat, however, the partnership between Lynns and Dr. Blazedale also resulted in an unexpected pregnancy. Dr. Blazedale named the boy Benjamin, Benji for short. She raised Benji in the East End, near Park Row, up until she was arrested and sent to Blackgate a year ago. Now Benji is living with his friend Blake’s family. Eventually, Benji decides to sneak into one of Lynns’s old hideouts and steals the Firefly equipment. Benji initially wanted to use the Firefly suit to gather enough wealth to afford a trade school or college. When Benji realized that he couldn’t follow through on an attempted robbery, he decided instead to become a vigilante a la Violet, stopping crime while taking some of the haul for himself. It isn’t glamorous or honorable, but honor won’t get Benji a better life.

It sucked that Bendis aged up Jon. I want Sunshine Jon back as much as anyone. But I can acknowledge that there are some things about the aged-up Jon that I’d like to keep around (namely his relationship with Jay). So I thought, ¿por qué no los dos? We had two versions of Clark Kent running around for years back in the day, and Jon’s entire origin is based in multiverse shenanigans, so who’s to say that Sunshine Jon couldn’t be written back into the comics without erasing the aged-up Jon? Certainly not me.

One day, Sman!Jon encounters Mxyzptlk. Mxy, being who he is, isn’t a fan of Jon’s recent growth spurt. He intends to simply rewrite Jon’s history so that he never left with Jor-El, but Jon appeals to Mxy’s love of drama by explaining how Jon’s current existence as Superman has caused a lot of controversy in the nation. Mxy thinks about it, then decides to just have it both ways. He creates a duplicate timeline, from the beginning of Jon’s existence on Prime Earth to the moments before he decides to leave with Jor-El. Mxy then manipulates the alternate Jon to decide not to leave with Jor-El. Mxy then merges the alternate timeline with the main timeline, resulting in both Sman!Jon and Sunshine Jon existing simultaneously. Mxy then leaves them with a cryptic warning, hinting that only one of them will be able to remain in the main timeline. This story will alternate between the two Jons, exploring their perception of each other and the bond they end up forming, but other characters, especially Damian and Lois, will receive POV chapters as well. Kon will also get involved.

when meliha was in their pre-teens, they moved to gatlinburg, tennessee from istanbul, turkey. their family is far from rich. their mom worked two jobs to make ends meet. meliha got a job in high school to help take care of their younger siblings. they worked at the public library, putting away books, using their break time to work on their studies.

meliha waited a few years after graduation to start college. they took this time to work full-time to help provide for their family. when she applied to ogden, she was awarded an academic scholarship for their achievements while they were in school. their mom had pushed for meliha to go to college, to do something with their life.. to enjoy their life.

it was a relief on their family to not have to worry about paying for their college. however, meliha couldn't help but to worry about her family back home. it wasn't her first choice to be so far away for college, but they couldn't pass up the opportunity. meliha works part-time and sends as much as they can back home. most of the money they make is spent on necessities.

became an education major to make a different to today's youth. although they may be incredibly shy and quiet in their everyday life, when they are teaching/in front of a classroom, she is a whole different person. it's an out of body experience for them. they imagine teaching for the rest of their life. meliha wishes to teach middle or high school math.

part of meliha knew that they didn't wholeheartedly identify as a woman. although their features and style were primarily feminine, there is a part of them that feels genderless. they came out to their mom in high school. their mom didn't exactly understand what that meant - they haven't really spoken about it since then. they are still trying to figure out the world themselves. they joined the queer alliance to hopefully meet people who feel similar to them, or have had similar experiences to them.

imagine a freshman meliha - painfully awkward and not knowing how to make friends. imagine the limelight of greer, basking in the sunlight as it seemed like she had so many friends. meliha and greer were in two opposite circles, well - if you could call whatever friends meliha did have as a friend group. greer took her in to try and help her open up more. meliha was the tiniest bit envious of how easy it seemed for greer, to be able to socialize without stumbling over her words or making something awkward. the other part of meliha wished they would never have what greer had - how exhausting it must have been to be socializing at all moments of her life. greer invited meliha to a few parties where meliha tried to grow her social circle. she would stick close to greer like a lost puppy. one night, meliha gets drunk at a party. realizes that this is not the life that she wants, she would much rather be in the safe place in her room. meliha would rarely be spotted at a party after.

montez phillips was born and raised in a wealthy but humble household, both his parents working in the field of education, father, matthew phillips, a basketball coach and a physical education teacher whilst his mother, kalina phillips, the deputy principal, both working at the wardwell academy, where the two have also met before, became close friends, eventually fell in love, got married and had montez and his siblings, malachi and melany. it was like a common love story, a picket white fence home, with the occasional problems, either of their kids getting into light troubles, of course, but that’s how it usually was. their family was tight, not just within their unit but also their relatives, especially ones who lived nearby. everything was perfect, if you ask a young montez, or monty, as his parents would like to call him. the phillips family was everything he could ask for, and was grateful for everything that he has with them.

though, like any other stories, montez’s life took a turn. one day he was pulled out of class by his mother himself, his father was rushed to the university medical center due to him suffering a heart attack while he was teaching one of his classes. he was dead on arrival.

and just like that, everything fell apart. his mother grew distant, and even when both him and his brother both went through their rebellious stages just to get her attention, it did not do much, only a lecture and a conversation with anyone that would get them out of any kind of trouble they’d make. the brothers then grew closer than ever, realizing at a young age that nothing they do would bring their mother back, the woman they loved and looked up to when their father was still alive, the light of her life isn’t there anymore.

though as he grew up, he had this girl who would instantly become one of his closest friends, somehow someone who made what he’s going through sufferable. lunara kaplan, she was someone he grew up with, and became comfortable talking about anything and everything. of course, he does have his brother, but in a way, it feels good to have another person in his life whom he didn’t have to be related to for him to lean on. she was one of the very few people who knew he wanted to follow his parents’ footsteps, that in an early age, he developed his love for teaching, and throughout the way, lu supported him, encouraged him throughout the years, in fact, she was one of the few people he talked about getting the job at this school his parents used to work at. and before he knew it, he was falling deeply in love with her. it took a while for montez to muster up the courage to tell her, scared that he was going to lose their friendship if he messed it up. yet everything felt so organic, everything falling into place from the moment he poured his heart out to the other to when they found out they were expecting a child.

montez was thrilled, that it was something he prepared himself so much for, not just because he was going to be a father, but also, he was about to take a huge step, share this part of his life with his best friend. it was something he couldn’t stop talking about, lu sometimes finding him reading a book about pregnancy in his down times. he wanted to be there with her every step of the way.

but, as usual, his life, then again, would take another turn. good things don’t last forever, he realizes. the day lu lost their baby was also the day he lost her, and before he knew it, lu vanished. however, montez clung on the little bit of hope left in his heart, searching for the woman, driving around the city to search for her, at least for a goodbye if that’s what she wanted to do, leave, he will respect that. except, the endless and exhausting search leads to another unfortunate thing to happen, as lunara kaplan left, so did a lot of their memories, too.

it has been a month since the accident, and montez is on the road towards recovery, being decided that he’s not yet fit to go back to teaching, though he’s trying to life his life as normally as he possibly could, still not a trace of any memory of his relationship with lu and it’s bitter end, or is it?

Eight favourite films!

As tagged by @onigiri-dorkk, let me begin this amazing challenge! I'm only 28, and sadly I fall asleep with almost every movie I see, so my favourite movies are the ones that: 1) Keep me on edge, 2) Aren't too long, 3) Animation, because I believe those are the true evolved masterpieces from Cinema (and often musicals too).

I also tend to forget films a lot, so maybe here I feature some of the films that I have lastly seen and loved!

When I watch films, I tend to focus on the narrative (not the plot so much, but how it's done), the graphics (I... don't like... SFX...) and the portrayal of themes or leitmotivs throughout.

In no particular order, here we go!

HERCULES: This is SUCH AN UNDERRATED classic. The heroes story goes from point A to point B in a flowing script, full of jabs and references to the modern viewer ("somebody please call IX-I-I!" "Would you like a Solex?"). Graphically, the redundance of the clouds in all human forms (the biceps of Hercules, the hair of Megara, Hades' chin...) offers just an aesthetic, cohesive landscape. And don't let me started on the music... I can't believe how this movie flopped so bad with such MASTERPIECES! There is no one miss, not one.

TANGLED: Oh, my god, talk about underrated masterpieces again. Tangled features what I like the most about animation films: magic feelings (the bit with the lanters? Beautiful), great animation (Mother knows best! And the I have a dream sequence. Also when the water comes through!). And it features one of the least toxic relationships I have seen, with two characters struggling to be themselves and feeling guilt all over. An amazing masterpiece.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (I would say HSM 3 would be my favourite, but they are all). In an age where the good ones where the blondes, it was so refreshing to see Gabriella Montez, a brainy student... a brainy, HISPANIC, DAUGTHER OF A SINGLE MOTHER STUDENT completely smash everyone! HSM is such an underrated films because it features what I liked about this tad of Disney first: it was inclusive naturally, without trying to force them into pieces. It spoke about toxic masculinity (Troy gets laughed at for "wearing leotards"), about toxic parents (Sharpay and Ryan), about jealousy between siblings but utter love, about the toxic separation of gangs in High School. And—AND! It has amazing music. What I like about HSM3 the most is that they completely acknowledged that they had the cast and the talent to do an incredible musical.

500 days of Summer: Ah....The love... The pain... Let me start by saying that I love films you can see over and over and get little things and pieces and new information. It's been a while since I haven't seen it, but I remember thinking that the character of Summer was "the bad one" when I was a teenager, only to find out years later that the boy was kinda scary and what Summer felt, completely valid. I'll be rewatching soon. The scene of the bench just broke me.

Koe No Katachi (A Silent Voice): I CAN'T SAY THIS ENOUGH, WATCH THIS. I cried for 30 minutes after the credits roll. I love the stories about bullying, about redeeming yourself of your past, about difference and friendship. This story is heart-wrenching with such good animation and lighting (no need to show a bunch of landscapes). It's so deep and profound but without the need to metaphor lots of things, and the resolution is just as real, just as how life normally is.

SHREK: ...An instant classic. 1 and 2. The Puss in the Boots dubbed by Antonio Banderas is undoubtedly one of the best additions to the cast. I love how as an adult you can get all the jokes (my my, Shrek is full of sexual jokes) and all the stereotypes and toxicity that they are trying to subvert. Because Shrek is this: SUBVERSION at its best. It never, ever gets old.

INCEPTION / SHUTTER ISLAND: I watched them at the same time, almost, and those two films blew my mind in terms of narrative, plot twists and tension. I think they are incredibly useful to see the pace, but I also think that Inception opened a new whole genre of films that obliterated the normal sci-fi of the time (quickly forgotten to send half of the next films to space... such a shame). All the interpretations are amazing, and the fact that it has an open ending... THANK YOU SO MUCH.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE: Ultimate comfort film. I like all the franchise but I do think that GOF is above the others. It's not the best adapted book to film but let's remember that I think it's the longest book, so to adapt that in 2 hours and a half and make it for kids to understand, while it's incredibly dark for children... We have so many iconic things: the dragon's egg, we have Ron and Harry getting angry and jealous, we have Viktor Klum and Hermione dating, we have the Yule Ball ("Can you dance like a hippogriff nanana ananna anna), and Cedric Diggory's death. This is incredibly difficult to put in a film in terms of pacing and adapting to kids. I love that the Harry Potter films don't use a chroma for the most part, and rely on physical goods to recreate the magical universe.

SPIDERVERSE: ....What an incredible masterpiece of animation!!!!!!!!!! I could rant and rant about it. But I think this is getting too long. You will never find a film like this, no matter what they want to make you believe ("from the same studio that did...")

And that's it, folks! Also, special mention to: Hookwinked! It was one of my favourite films as a child and it's a masterpiece about POVs, narrative and script too.
