#Modern minecraft

Here's a couple of my recommendations about this:

Quark contains a "Game Nerfs" feature that, if activated, can remove iron golem farming, make Mending more balanced, remove villager zombification trading exploits, and even disable boat ice roads if you want. There is even an option to make the Elryta only work in certain dimensions (i.e. the End) or disable it outright

For a modpack built around these challenges, I'd recommend the pack "Musketeer". I personally got bored in that pack eventually but it is a nice change of pace if you want a lile alternate universe vanilla-like experience.

I've also heard good things about the modpack "Reminiscence", which exists to emulate the feel of the beta versions of the game without sacrificing the game engine's improvements.

And, it may be worth looking into games outside Minecraft, like Vintage Story or Satisfactory.

Yes. That's the point. That's GOOD actually. My little brother needs to be able to play minecraft as much as I can. It's a sandbox game, not an RPG. You can create difficulty and add challenge and modify files! Those are features in the game and regularly adjusted for just that purpose. But the base game is meant to be accessible and universal.

Especially when a lot of "content" comes in the form of professionals, people who earn a living being good at the game and have hours a day to put into it, our perspective is skewed. I love the hermits, but any time they say a farm "only took two hours" to build? I cringe. When hypixel pvp creators talk about how lame netherite makes vanilla gameplay, I sigh. And when someone complains that it's too easy to cheese a mechanic or obtain a villager trade I kind of want to scream.

It's easy *for you*. It's boring *for you*. It's not that it needs to change drastically, you just need to approach it differently. You have a moral objection to how "easy" it is to get a mending villager? Make the rule for yourself that you can only get mending from the loot table. You think elytra take the fun out of travel? Don't use it.

And before you say "well can't they just use accessibility features to make it easier?" NO. That's not the point of those features. Accessibility features that disable quicktime events or remove puzzles aren't to make a game easier, they're to make a game PLAYABLE. Accessibility features in minecraft are to disable view bobbing, change the visual distortions, add directional subtitles....things that make the game playable to people who need them.

Basically, please chill the fuck out about minecraft being easy. If it's too easy and you can't come up with a solution for that, maybe it's just not a game you enjoy playing. Download a mod pack or go play something different.

I’m just gonna self proclaim myself as a Minecraft Boomer. I started playing in Early 2012 and I still prefer those versions compared to today’s versions.  Not that there’s anything wrong with what Minecraft is currently, its just more or less a different game compared to when I first watched and played it. The game is more Adventure game with Survival and Sandbox elements (when not including Creative mode) these days compared to 2012 when it was more, Sandbox game with Survival elements.  Heck I downloaded the BetaCraft launcher to play the 2011 and older versions to see how they were and I found that I enjoy the Pre 1.8 Beta (Beta 1.7.3 and older) versions more.  I liked the feeling of being alone in a strange world, there was no objective besides survive and build to your hearts content, you made your own. While you can still do those things today, it isn’t the same when there is a definite end and actual objectives for you todo.  The vibes that Modern Minecraft and Pre-Release Minecraft have are totally different and that... that’s fine. Its been a decade and while I do miss the vibe of the older MC I grew up with, modern MC is other people’s childhood now and people still enjoy it plenty, heck with all the stuff with it I’ve seen pretty large leaps in the modding community too. As of late the community that prefers Beta and Alpha have revived the modding community and new mods are being developed for those versions as well as finding and archiving mods from that era. I find it cool that MC is a game that caters to multiple communities and is enjoyable for a wide variety of people. It has a long history and while I no longer enjoy where Minecraft is headed, I’ll still be keeping an eye on it from time to time just to see where its headed next. This post went places but its what happens when I get going. In short, I’m a boomer that prefers older MC but can appreciate what modern MC does and is doing even if I don’t personally enjoy it anymore.

In the Beta community there is a popular opinion that Beta Minecraft is better than modern but IMO, the two aren't really comparable. Modern and Beta are so vastly different experiences and neither of them are bad, neither one is better than the other. They're both fun in different ways. You just gotta know how to make the fun happen, yannow?

HOTD-Modern AU

Aegon has been caught trying to buy stuff in his father's computer. The only thing he could come up withas an excuse was that he was trying to download Minecraft to play with Daeron while his little brother is in boarding school.

To make it believable Aegon shows Viserys how to play. His dad is unimpressed until he finds out tou can build stuff.

It is a success and has the unitended consequence of Viserys enjoying the game a bit too much and inviting his best friends to play with him.

Lyonel is retired and has nothing better to do. Otto, although retired, will take any chance to get a bit of his influence back. Rhaenys forced Corlys to go and socialise with people instead of tinkering the whole day with his boat.

Things go out of hand soon. By the time Lyonel voiced the moral quandry of messing with the villagers both Otto and Corlys already had enslaved them, and were breeding them for the best trades. They have monopolized the emeralds, their power is getting to their heads.

Viserys is very damn excited to fight the Ender dragon and would like for his friends to focuss and follow the plan.

Corlys has been exploring the sea and raiding underwater temples.

Otto has built a light tower and is mining his heart away (he sells the diamonds for outrageous trades but it's still better than searching for them yourself).

Lyonel is just happy to keep his animals and build them little houses and penns.

Aegon doesn't know how he ended up having to hang out every Sunday morning with a bunch of sixty year olds, but now he is too invested to back out. (Viserys gives him pocket money afterwards because he forgets Aegon is no longer fifteen so it works out)

it’s an immortal aphmau who’s been alone for the past 1000 something years, standing in a museum staring at portraits and statues of all the people she’s loved and lost.

she looks at the artifacts and remembers when they were shiny and new. garroth’s helm is rusted to hell and laurance’s sword is broken in two, no longer it’s beautiful shade of emerald green.

maybe someone recognizes her, standing next to a portrait of irene. maybe it’s a child. maybe she smiles and winks before walking off to see the next exhibit. the one about her children. the children she misses every day.

Httyd and Minecraft

Hiccup:

A master at redstone. The sound of trap doors, doors, pressure plates, pistons etc. are a constant at his base.

Astrid:

Always mining for ore to upgrade her weapons and armor even though she already has a chest of netherite weapons and armor.

Tuffnut:

Is an animal farmer, mostly with chickens though. He still lives in a dirt hut.

Ruffnut:

Griefs and annoys everyone on the server. You can find “Ruffnut was here” signs everywhere.

Fishlegs:

Plays on peaceful and explores the world and makes graves and memorials for all the pets he loses on the way.

Snotlout:

Constantly gets stuck in the Nether and nobody helps him.

Dagur:

Owns an anarchy server. He only got the IP to the gang’s server cause he told Snotlout they would be BFF’s if he gave it to him. He lied.

Heather:

Kills Dagur and steals his loot before she leaves the server for like, 2 weeks.

Stoick:

“What is mine craft?”

Viggo:

Is secretly Notch.
