lowkey the funniest thing about religion in my rewrite is how much these bitches (the divine warriors) were flandarised.

A random headcanon of mine is that Nekoette actually takes most after Gene appearance wise. It's really hard for Dante to explain to Nana, since Nekoette to an unknowing eye would look like a perfect mashup of her two parents.

But there's something in the shape of those brown eyes, the same shade of her Mother's, alongside the way her hair parts at the side and curls at the ends, with a ever so slightly crooked smile, that keeps Dante up at night. Because no matter where he runs, Gene will always be with him in memory, blood, or shadow.

i get how this might be out of character for garroth. using towns funds to buy a dress of all things?

this might be me pushing the garmau agenda. BUT i think this would be an interesting look on how garroth would be grooming aphmau to become a proper lord. She already has leadership abilities and a way of reasoning with people. that's what got her this far and how she rose to power (forming allegiances with those around her, helping them, standing her ground). But shes foreign to playing the part, she doesn't have any prior knowledge on how to "look" the part.

which, unfortunately for her, matters a whole ton, especially in relations with other lords. Something that she doesn't realize at first, but garroth does. He came from that life, he knows the sick opinions they have of people, the rumors that go around if a lord is caught looking "unkempt", especially one that doesn't have any lineage.

while aphmau just views the purchase as a waste. becoming what shes fighting against. she doesn't want the village to look up to her because she has authority, she didn't want them to look up to her at all! but she can't just leave them like this. it isn't out of obligation, its more she's found purpose in rebuilding this town. As a lord though? wasn't quite what she had in mind.

aph has heart in the game but doesn't know how to even fit into it. garroth does. everything he does is for the sake of the village. buying those seeds or even trying to push aphmau into lordship. he wants to secure phoenix drop in a time where its safety is constantly being threatened. appearance in this game is everything; a shield even.

so if it means spending his life savings on a stupid dress is it really all that bad?

I think a lot of people tend to forget that the reason Laurance flirts so much is because he canonically doesn’t know how else to talk to women 😭. They fucked him up in PDH by taking the loser out of him. LIKE YEAH, it makes sense that everyone ELSE would view him as this cool suave guy but there should’ve been a point in the story where he reveals the truth like he does in MCD. The appeal is that he’s a sopping wet cat of a man

I'm on my 100000000 rewatch of MCD and wow. The inconsistencies in names is so funny to me lol

The two most notable ones are Dale's kid going from Ryan to Brian and our beloved casanova going from Laurence to Laurance. Laurance's name change is only funny cuz of how stupid it is.

But no one ever talks about Hayden's guard going from Luna to Glenda or Phoenix Drop's previous lord's wife going from Milfina (as seen in his journal) to Matilda.

I choose to believe that this series actually is a diary and all the names are actually being written down in messy script and also Aph doesn't know how to spell every name because why would she? There's too many ways to spell Laurence so if you're not telling her how to spell it when you first meet, she is not going to spell it correctly in her diary later. Also Aph tries to spell his name ambiguously (thats probs not the phrasing im looking for) and makes the letter look both like an a and an e, like if you're trying to spell gray/grey and don't remember which version is the American version.

A beautiful bright green, the color of emerald.

Post Nether / Blind Laury:

Cloudy and grey, pupils are no longer visible.

Healed / Laury as we generally know him:

Still cloudy, but less grey than before. A greyish, blueish, green color. Pupils are still not visible however.

Something about Shadow Knights..

I feel that we, as a village (fandom if you’re boring), forget that while yes, Shadow Knights are trained to be soldiers, they are trained as assassins first and foremost.

Yes, they are trained for big battles, for hitting hard, for being brutal and violent. They are taught war tactics and how to work together, and how to leave each other behind should it benefit them in battle.

But they are first trained in the art of being sneaky. How to walk, breath, exist silently. How to be truly stealthy. How to blend in with a crowd, how to kill quietly, how to disappear into the night without a trace. How to work alone, how to be efficient.

They are taught how to use the stealthiest weapons first, like daggers and poison. Then, range weapons, archery and throwing knives. Then after they’ve learned all they need to become a great assassin, that’s when they are taught to use weapons of war.

And while yes, most Shadow Knights were guards in life, meaning they’re already trained many of these things mentioned, nearly none of them have the skills required to be a great assassin.

Guards don’t need to.

Shadow Knights do.

Gene is so powerful, and naturally first in command, do to his memory manipulating magicks. A Shadow Knights with mind magicks is rare and HIGHLY valuable to their cause. Stealth is all about not being noticed, and when you have the ability manipulate a persons mind, it doesn’t matter much if they notice you.
