so ive been thinking abt the epithets of the divine warriors a wee bit recently. specifically abt shad and his epithets.

ive already mentioned that im probs gonna be maiden/mother/croneing irene in my rewrite(s - thisll be smth that extends into my eventual mys rewrite). and the other divine warriors have epithets too - although xaviers official title in ashes, ashes is "the justiciar", he also has his "admirer" and "loyal" epithets, and esmund has an "earthshaker" epithet denoting his capacity as a god of earthquakes. stuff like that.

i dont think shads title was always the destroyer, though. i think he wouldve gone by another name prior to his descent into madness following the whole "ur powers r given to u by ur deceased daughter who ur wife sacrificed" thing.

hear me out. i think that, before he became "the destroyer", or, maybe, "the devourer", i like to think that people worshipped him more as a psychopomp of sorts. someone who looked after souls as they made their way into the underworld, someone who guarded the barrier between life and death. yeah, hes got a lot of connotations around war and bloodshed and loss (but, given that the divines rose to power during a period of incredible strife and probably have a lot of war connotations too, who fucking doesnt), i think that there were also a lot of aspects of him that emphasised his roles as a father, companion, and protector.

which leads me to propose a title for shad before he became the destroyer. i think that, before he became who we know him as in mcd, he was known as the warden.

To be contrarian I think it’s a good thing that so many rewrites are dark especially for diaries.

Despite being tonally very light the actual subject matter of diaries is really dismal and I think it’s a good sign when the fans pick up on that and decide to shift the tone to better fit the content. It shows not only an ability to look past the vibes and into the actual writing but also a genuine interest in portraying these events well.

Along the same vein I think it’s also good when the events and lore of diaries is changed to fit the lighter tone. It shows the same understanding just a different preference.

This isn’t to say that it’s bad when people mix and match the tone and content to be lighter or darker than the other just that all of these complaints I see aren’t looking on the brighter side of it all. People in this fandom have a non-zero amount of comprehension skills. And skills are good!

Out of all of the lords we know about in MCD, I feel like Cadenza would be the most knowledgeable about other cultures. She is the only lord (besides Aphmau) to have a know creative outlet and fashion is one of the best insights into a culture and objectively, the best one for a lord to have. Music, writing, and painting are all great but knowing exactly what to wear to an important event and what colors to avoid culturally is SO beneficial as it shows both knowledge and respect. She knows to avoid wearing colors deemed unlucky or colors associated with the other peoples enemies.

TLDR: Cadenza liking fashion makes her a better diplomat

I think the funniest possible explanation for the Chicken Shaman being the only character with a voice actor in early MCD is that he’s running his own Minecraft roleplay series when all of a sudden his video is crashed by a terrible chicken house builder asking him for potions

I refuse to believe that MCD!Travis has good handwriting. That man should have the most atrocious scribble of handwriting that only doctors could read. He is a genius and a fast reader, don't get me wrong, but as someone who has examined the writings of highly literate smart folk, IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT!

He needs to have the most chicken scratch margin of note on books writing ever.
