Shrek 2 (2004)
Tumblr media
If there's a kind of movie that's rarer than a good sequel, it's a good sequel to a comedy. That alone makes Shrek 2 noteworthy. Better looking and funnier than the first, this follow-up is a must-see.
Newlyweds Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz) return from their honeymoon to find an invitation from Fiona’s parents, who live in the kingdom of Far Far Away. As Shrek predicted, King Harold (John Cleese) and Queen Lillian (Julie Andrews) are shocked by their green-skinned son-in-law and their daughter’s appearance as an ogress. With the Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders) under the assumption that her son, Prince Charming (Rupert Everett), would be marrying Fiona and King Harold none too pleased with the situation, an assassin (Antonio Banderas) is sent to deal with Shrek and his friend Donkey (Eddie Murphy).
Visually, Shrek 2 blows Shrek out of the water. It's a little shocking, actually. The human characters, in particular, look much better but it's more than just that. Peel your eyes away from the foreground and you’ll see many subtle jokes thrown in the background: funny book titles, posters on the walls, and more. There’s always something on-screen to keep you laughing.
Over and over, Shrek 2 displays perfect comedic timing. A joke will lead into another and then come back with a snap that catches you off-guard. There are so many great, quotable, memorable moments you’d be tempted to list them all but then you’d be simply writing a synopsis of the whole movie. These are not cheap, throwaway gags either. They tell you about the relationship between Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and her parents. They serve double duty by advancing the story and the same can be said about the songs. The soundtrack is no mere collection of top-10 hits; they have been carefully selected to establish the mood, make you laugh and emphasize what you see on-screen. You can feel and hear the enthusiasm the cast and crew had for Shrek 2 in every frame.
It's now time to address the film’s one flaw: the pop culture references. Spider-Man, The Fellowship of the Ring, Alien, The Wizard of Oz, Garfield, Cops… the list goes on. Some will say it gives this great film a limited shelf life. Let me counter with this: from the beginning, Shrek has been built on comedic references. Did the first picture explain who Robin Hood was? Did we pause to clarify why there were three blind mice, or a wolf dressed up in ladies’ pajamas? Anyone unfamiliar with the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales will see dozens of jokes fly over their heads. Why criticize the film for having a mix of winks to old and new stories? The gags are still funny whether you get every aspect of them or not and they come so quickly that it doesn't even matter. Alternatively, if you don’t get the Zorro reference, go watch The Mask of Zorro!
Shrek is so good, so funny and full of so many good moments you almost don’t want to say Shrek 2 is even better. You feel as though saying you like this sequel more than the first will diminish the success of the first. Let’s just say they’re both the best. It’s a perfect choice for the whole family and with time, you only grow to appreciate it more. (On Blu-ray, March 22, 2019)

Newsies forever!
Newsies opened on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre for a limited engagement starting in previews on March 15, 2012, and officially on March 29, 2012. On May 16, 2012, Disney announced that Newsies was an open-ended engagement. The engagement was extended through August 19, 2012, after the first previews.
The original cast of the Broadway production featured Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly and John Dossett as newspaper tycoon Joseph Pulitzer. The cast also included Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, Lewis Grosso and Matthew Schechter sharing the role of Les, Tommy Bracco as Spot Conlon, Ryan Breslin as Race, Andy Richardson as Romeo, Garett Hawe as Albert, Ryan Steele as Specs, Aaron J. Albano as Finch, Mike Faist as Morris Delancey and Jordan’s understudy, Mark Aldrich as Seitz and Kevin Carolan as Nunzio and Theodore Roosevelt. The Broadway production cost about $5 million to stage. I was listening to Seventeen from Heathers and my brain is so FitPac crazy that I started thinking who would be who in a Fitpac Heathers AU? thing? story? This is based more on the musical than the movie and not everything fit's 100%. idk, im deranged and these are my thoughts. lyrics that come to mind for the character choices will be in italics.
------------------------------- Veronica Sawyer - Pac I think qPac would also be good at forgeries, and the other character dynamics would make more sense with Pac in this position. He is really good at manipulating things and can stand up for himself, but I can also see him getting sucked into being apart of the Heather, and accidentally leaving Martha (Mike). J. D. - Fit Fit as the loner who's the emo kid, and defends Pac with everything he can. + JD's dad have a demolition company explaining his knowledge of explosives. Cares a lot but it can get misdirected (into murder that Fit would 100% know how to cover up). HEAVY leaning into 'protective Fit' with the violence.
Heather Chandler - Cellbit Leader of the Heathers. Very manipulative and knows how to control people and get them to do what he wants, plus the red coloring. And totally would haunt Pac after the murder. Heather Duke - Bagi Constantly challenging Chandler for power and when Chandler dies she takes the opportunity to be the leader. And though it never gets brought up after the first song, Duke is the head of the yearbook committee. Heather McNamara - Tubbo Some of the stuff that McNamara says I can totally imagine Tubbo saying. 'If I had a meat cleaver down the center of your skull i'd have matching halves, that's very important' (Beautiful) I also like that this means that Pac saves Tubbo during the 'Shine a Light reprise' song. He would be confident but under the surface he's scared and finally breaks in 'Shine a Light Reprise' Kurt Kelly- Foolish 'He's the smartest guy on the football team, which is kinda like being the tallest dwarf' (Beautiful) I know Foolish is really smart, but I think his playing dumb really works for this character. If he dialed up the teasing to an 11 and was an asshole I could see him being like Kurt. Ram Sweeney- Bad Gonna be honest, Bad is here cause having Foolish and Bad being these best friends that get murdered together and get written to be gay lovers in a forged suicide note works way too well. I don't think anything else that Bad does fit's this character at all. Maybe it's just his teasing and pranks but more and mean. Though i think it would be funny if he still doesn't swear, but he's still the school bully. This is mostly just here for Foolhalo content. Kurt and Rams' parents - Phil and Missa 'Im talking you and me. In the summer of '83' (I love my dead gay son) They are Kurt and Ram's gay dads. That it. that's the only reason. Martha Dunstock - Mike 'My best friend since diapers' (Beautiful) Pac and Mike are best friends. I don't really know how to handle the crush on Ram and the whole Kindergarten song. But I don't think anyone else could fit the role of the best friend. Mrs. Flemming - Baghera This is the hippie teacher and I feel that Bags would totally be crazy and try to be the fun teacher in the 'Shine a Light' song. Obviously qBags is better at this, but imagining a peak Purgatory Bags as this teacher. She's trying her best. I'm probably not going to do anything with this i just needed to get my thoughts out. A fun thing, If you have any other ideas for who would be who, or if you have more thoughts on my picks, please feel free to discuss.

Sorry this is long↓ I don't own these memes. I've never claimed to do so. I just come across them on Pinterest when I'm on break at work and think they're funny so I like to share them. If I mistakenly put one on here that I shouldn't have please let me know! I like to respect people's wishes. And if you could add the creator names too that would be great so the same mistake isn't made twice. Sorry for the inconvenience that my sharing may cause. I hope you have a good day.

Cabinet Endorsements
One thing that's flown a bit below the radar in this election is that former cabinet members haven't been acting like they usually do. Normally, former cabinet members will automatically endorse their former boss for re-election, but Trump's have not been doing that.
This is of particular interest because, while we, the voters, get to see the President give speeches and the like, we don't actually work with him. Presumably a cabinet member is someone who agrees with the president and who the president trusts and who gets to work closely with the president, so their opinion of the president is an important benchmark.
With that in mind, let's take a look at the 44 former cabinet members of the Donald J. Trump administration and the 2 former cabinet members of the Joseph R. Biden administration. I'll put an (E) next to the ones that have endorsed their former boss, an (H) next to the ones who haven't yet, and an (R) next to the ones who have outright refused to do so.
Cabinet Members of the Donald J. Trump Administration (R) VP Mike Pence (H) Sec. State Rex Tillerson (H) Sec. State/CIA Director Mike Pompeo (E) Sec. Treasury Steven Mnuchin (R) Sec. Defense James Mattis (H) Sec. Defense Patrick Shanahan (nominated) (R) Sec. Defense Mark Esper (H) Sec. Defense Christopher Miller (acting) (H) AG Jeff Sessions (R) AG William Barr (H) AG Jeffrey Rosen (acting) (E) Sec. Interior Ryan Zinke (H) Sec. Interior David Bernhardt (H) Sec. Agriculture Sonny Perdue (E) Sec. Commerce Wilbur Ross (H) Sec. Labor Andrew Puzder (nominated) (H) Sec. Labor Alex Acosta (H) Sec. Labor Eugene Scalia (H) Sec. HHS Tom Price (H) Sec. HHS Alex Azar (H) Sec. HHS Pete Gaynor (E) Sec. HUD Ben Carson (H) Sec. Transporation Elaine Chao (H) Sec. Transportation Steven Bradbury (acting) (H) Sec. Energy Rick Perry (H) Sec. Energy Dan Brouillette (H) Sec. Education Besty DeVos (H) Sec. Education Mick Zais (acting) (H) Sec. VA David Shulkin (E) Sec. VA Ronny Jackson (nominated) (H) Sec. VA Robert Wilkie (R) Sec. HS John Kelly (H) Sec. HS Kirstjen Nielsen (H) Sec. HS Chad Wolf (nominated) (E) US Trade Rep. Robert Lighthizer (H) DNI Dan Coats (H) DNI John Ratcliffe (H) UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (H) OMB Directory Mick Mulvaney (E) OMB Director Russel Vought (H) CIA Director Gina Haspel (H) EPA Admin. Scott Pruitt (H) EPA Admin. Andrew Wheeler (H) SBA Admin. Linda McMahon (H) SBA Admin. Jovita Caranza
Cabinet Members of the Joseph R. Biden Administration (E) Sec. Labor Marty Walsh (E) OMB Director Neera Tanden (nominated) (H) Office of Science and Tech. Director Eric Lander
The first thing we notice, obviously, is that there are a whole lot more former Trump cabinet members. This is partially because Biden is still in office so his 23 current cabinet members are not counted (it'd be a huge surprise if they didn't endorse him and they probably wouldn't still be working for him if they didn't), but it's also because Trump had way above average turnover for cabinet officials, 19 in the first four years not including the 5 who resigned due to his handling of the 2020 election results (not included because Biden hasn't reached that point in his first term yet), while Biden has had far below average turnover, only 3 so far.
So a lot more people shuffling in and out of the Trump administration, but we also notice a ton more H's than E's there. Heck, there's almost as many R's among Trump's people as there are E's (5 to 7). Meanwhile, Biden's shooting 2 for 3 and the third one hasn't (at least not that I could find) ruled out endorsing him.
Keep in mind, endorsing the nominee of your party is pretty much the bare minimum that any party operative needs to do. Imagine if you applied for a job somewhere, the first question was "do you think this company should be in business", and you answered "no". You probably wouldn't be getting a job there. In other words, refusing to endorse has some big consequences for the people doing it, not just costing them a job in the potential next Republican presidency, but locking them out of the party entirely, and yet a good deal of the people who worked for Trump disliked working with him so much that they're doing it anyways.
As I said, this tends to fly below the radar because it's kind of a formulaic ritual; of course members of the President's party who are closely tied to him are going to endorse him for re-election! That's why you should pay attention now that most of the people who've worked with Trump aren't doing so. It says something, something big.

Speaking to the NHL Network's Mike Kelly and Jamie Hersch on the red carpet, Matthew Tkachuk reassured everyone the injury wouldn’t cause him to miss any time next season.
“I’ll be good,” he said when asked about his status for the upcoming season. “Stuff like this, you start to reflect on the year and then realize that it's over because, during the whole run, you’re just having the time of your life, you don't want it to end, and when it does, I think it's more shocking that it's over,” “I think weekends and events like this, and once the draft and everything is over, I'll be able to sit back and realize what a great year it was.” “I would have never imagined being in even the same sentences those guys let alone be up for an award,” “It’s two guys that I admire so much for what they do on the ice and it’s so cool being able to play against them. I really feel very honored and really humbled to be in the same conversation.”

Trump shooting task force demands documents from top Biden officials in probe kickoff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The House of Representatives is kicking off its formal probe into the attempted assassination of former President Trump on Monday. The bipartisan Trump shooting task force sent a pair of letters announcing its investigation will now supersede several other ongoing House investigations into the matter and asking for all information sent to those committees about the July 13 shooting so far.One letter was sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and acting U.S. Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe; the other was addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.Lawmakers are seeking staff-level briefings from each agency and department, to be scheduled by Aug. 16 – a signal that the task force is serious about its pledge for a short investigatory timeline. BUTLER DISTRICT ATTORNEY SAYS LOCAL SNIPERS WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ROOFTOP SHOOTER FIRED FROM “We, as the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump (Task Force), write to request documents and information related to the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024,” wrote Reps. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and Jason Crow, D-Colo.There have been multiple Congressional inquiries launched into how a 20-year-old gunman was able to position himself on a rooftop just outside Trump’s rally perimeter last month, opening fire and killing one rally attendee. Trump himself was shot in the ear and rushed offstage by Secret Service agents. The task force is a push by House leadership to consolidate those efforts. The panel is armed with subpoena power and wide-ranging jurisdiction to probe the shooting, with the goal of producing an end-of-year report.TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT VICTIM SAYS HE IS ‘SAD’ WITH STATE OF ‘POLITICAL DIVISION’ IN US Kelly and Crow asked that the Biden administration officials they wrote to “should produce documents and information directly to the Task Force from this point forward, including any documents and information that are in process in response to pending requests.”Lawmakers also asked for “all documents and information that have been produced to date, to any committee of the House or Senate related to the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump” and “a briefing for staff to review DHS and USSS’ responses to Congress to date, and to discuss the Task Force’s priorities with respect to documents and information moving forward.”The task force, comprised of seven House Republicans and six House Democrats, was formed after a unanimous 416-0 vote last month. One senior House Republican told Fox News Digital last month that House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was inundated by House GOP lawmakers’ requests and arguments to be on the panel. IRAN THREAT PROMPTS QUESTIONS ABOUT TRUMP GUNMAN’S UNCRACKED ENCRYPTIONBoth Kelly and Crow have stressed that the investigation must be apolitical. Crow, a former Army Ranger, told Fox News Digital earlier this month that he and Kelly were discussing a possible trip to the Pennsylvania rally site where the shooting took place. Kelly, who was at the rally in Butler, represents the surrounding district.”Chairman Kelly and I have discussed that, and we do think that would be an important thing to do if we have the support to do it,” Crow said.
