font-size Limbo
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/font-size-limbo/
font-size Limbo
You might recall that Alvaro suggests bumping up font-size to 1.25rem from the default user agent size of 16px. Sebastian Laube pokes at that:
I wouldnā€™t adopt Alvaroā€™s suggestion without further ado, as I would waste so much space on a smartphone, for example, and many users would probably be irritated by the large font.
I set a font size ofĀ 1.2remĀ from a certain viewport size. But this also has to be done carefully, because then grey areas arise in which media queries suddenly fall back into another areaā€¦
I personally agree with Alvaro that the default 16px size is too small. Thatā€™s just how I feel as someone who is uncomfortably close to wearing the bottoms of actual Coke bottles to see anything clearly on a screen.
On the flip side, I professionally agree with Sebastian, not that many users would probably be irritated by the large font, but to openly question an approach rather than adopting someone elseā€™s approach wholesale based on a single blog post. It may very well be that a font-size bump is the right approach. Everything is relative, after all, and we ought to be listening to the people who use the thing weā€™re making for decisions like this.
The much bigger question is the one Sebastian poses right at the end there:
Should browsers perhaps use a larger font size on large screens from the outset if the user does not specify otherwise? Or do we need an information campaign to make them aware that they should check their system settings or set a different default font size in the browser?
Fantastic, right?! Iā€™m honestly unsure where Iā€™d draw the viewport breakpoint for 16px being either too large or small and where to start making adjustments. Is 16px the right default at any viewport size? Or perhaps user agents ought to consider a fluid type implementation that defines a default font scale and range of sizes instead? Itā€™s great food for thought.

I don't know if you're trolling or not, but it feels that way. Whether you meant harm or not, continuing to post about a ship and even going as far as to putting up a poll about "which ship is the best" isn't something you should do when trying to "apologize".
It especially doesn't look good when you admit the tags of your posts that you haven't seen the anime. Posting about it an anime or the ships you don't know is something you shouldn't done in the first place. From my experience, people who have done that do it to cause trouble.
You could have just deleted the first post and called it a day. And if you were going to put out an apology post, you could have just said "I'm sorry for posting that, it won't happen again" and then nothing else.
I'm not here to preach to you or anything, but just saying going forward, maybe stick to the fandoms you do know and are genuinely interested in. Don't get into the anime or the ship just because of this situation or like a ship because of research.
How do I even begin.
You have clearly misunderstood EVERYTHING I stand for. You are lucky I am good at containing that strange Jeff the Killer feeling (the feeling he feels when he is angry) or else you would be HUMILIATED in front of my followers. Take ONE LOOK at my blog and you will see that I am not trolling.
First off, I did not delete the post because I believe in accountability. I will not scrub my past sins from this earth and act as if I am an angel upon it. I am flawed. I am human. I am Wormchamp72. Look upon me and despair.
My apology post was 100% /SRS. If you had even an OUNCE of reading comprehension, you would understand that my post was embracing ALL ships and fans. I could not simply have said "I'm sorry for posting that, it won't happen again" because that would not have been enough. And it would not have reflected my change of heart.
As for the poll---DID YOU EVEN READ THE BOTTOM TEXT??????????????? Because I'm assuming you didn't, here it is:
Now, take a nice, long look at what you picked and think about why you did. Did you think the other ships were "cringe"? Did you think yours was superior because it isn't "problematic"? Shame. Shame on you.
CLEARLY this is encouraging people 2 reflect on their own biases and baseless hatred towards others based on their shipping preferences.
And yeah. I haven't watched MHA/BNHA (it is not personally interesting 2 me). But I respect the passion that fans put into their art. I respect their grit. Especially I respect the fans who aren't afraid 2 go against the grain...like Bakudekus.
I am not interested in MHA. But I am interested in starting a movement.
SO THIS STOPS NOW. No more shaming others for their interests. No more calling others "cringe" for liking things like Jeff the Killer or Slitherio. No more bullying. This is a promise. And Wormchamp72 never goes back on his word. I will never betray others because I know firsthand the sting of betrayal (RE: Maximus P.).
This is about breaking norms. This is about radical acceptance.
Even if you do not ship Bakudeku, you can BE a Bakudeku. We are ALL Bakudekus.

Far in the distant future, humans are an endangered species preserved by god-like aliens. Humanity has reached a utopia, albeit a meticulously micromanaged one. Amber Shakya is inclined to disagree. Her parents died when she was a child and couldnā€™t be sent to digital heaven like everyone else. Misunderstood and rejected by her peers, she grows into a cynical, aloof smartass.Ā
She gets a chance to see the real world when her history expertise lands her a unique job offer. A map has been uncovered, and it will show the way to the hidden home of a long-gone civilization. Amber gets to work on translations alongside Lullaby, an archeologist with their own dark secrets. To her utter surprise, she finds herself getting attached to another person.
During her stay, Amber learns that her own tragedies are no match for the Universeā€™s suffering. Sheā€™s supposed to return home once her work is done, but ā€œhomeā€ feels more suffocating than ever. Instead, she and Lullaby embark on a planet-hopping quest, following the deciphered coordinates. Amber is convinced that solving the ancient mystery will somehow resolve her existential crisis. Her only fear is that her moment of Enlightenment might finally break her instead.

I don't know if anyone knows coding but I need to ask and I don't wanna ask on Stack but do media queries not work for borders?
I'm trying to get this vertical line to disappear when the window is under a specific size but it just refuses to work.
.vertical-line { border: 0; }
@ media only screen and (min-width: 963px) { .vertical-line { border: 0 1px 0 0 solid;} }
Added a space between @ and media so it doesn't actually tag. Like I tried border-left too and others but it just doesn't want to work
Edit: found the solution. I just had to put the CSS in it's own file rather than in-line on the same HTML file because the stupid site is old as shit

As a fellow aroace, I did think it was romantic, but also all my preexisting ideas of romance come from other ships and none of them are as interesting as this (aside from madoka/homura but all my favourite ships are some variation of that) anyway I'm eating your sifloop interpretation with ten spoons. Have you considered writing fanfic because if you did I would read it on loop
aroace people will look at a pair of characters who are this šŸ¤ close to mutually assured destruction and yet fundamentally cannot exist without each other and go : . yeah that's romance? right ? ?
(also god. i think i last watched madoka when i was what? 13? i need to rewatch that its been over 10 years my god. i never even got to any of the movies.)
also no i do not write fic !! not confident enough in my prose outside of dialogue if im honest. i play with prose in my little noncanon oc sandbox on toyhou.se where there's no pressure to be halfway decent. maybe i'll be strong enough someday, but also as ive said prior this is the first fandom in uh. over 5 years if not more. that i've really made actual fancontent for. and the first one ever where anyone's noticed me. so i've no experience in the medium. i will continue putting way too many speech bubbles in my comics though don't worry about that.

i'll sound completely insane if i explain to anyone irl how fucking fandom drama is making me feel, but i also can't exactly talk to people in the fandom about it. i feel like i've lost friends with all of this and i feel like one of the only things that has been consistent in my life for a while is falling to pieces and i don't know what to do or how to deal with any of these emotions. this is such a completely unrelatable problem, if i could even call it a problem in the first place.
You absolutely can call it a problem. Just because it's fandom drama doesn't mean it's insignificant or doesn't have an impact on us. This is a space a lot of us spend significant time in, that matters to us--so when discourse and drama happens, we react. That's entirely reasonable and normal.
It's hard to deal with, especially when you're also beating yourself up for feeling this way because they're "just online friends" or it's "just fandom drama" or similar. These are real relationships we've built that are being strained, tested, or broken. This is a constant, a comfort that's being challenged and changed, and its uglier sides revealed that we can't unknown and have to grapple with.
There's no one right thing to do. Though I would encourage if it's a significant source of stress to take a breather. Give yourself a day to focus on something else--watch a fun movie, funny cat videos, read a book you loved as a kid, go outside if you can, talk to someone about something else.
I am absolutely not immune to getting super worked up and invested. I've kept my cool better this time around that I have in the past, but don't let that fool you. The IG vs Keepblr drama we had a while back practically consumed me, and I was getting frustrated even with people I considered solid friends because I felt like they were making things worse. I was anxious, only thinking about it despite having homework/other responsibilities, and it felt catastrophic. What was going to happen? And who was I going to tell? No one irl knows about my fandom presence, and I was annoyed with both sides of the fandom, so who would I talk to about it there??
Part of how I got through that was taking those breathers. It put me in a better state to process and deal with it. I was less of a mess, had more patience/energy, and could be better composed in my posts/approaches--which in turned help keep me from escalating anything.
Of course that's just something I do to help myself with drama and discourse. It can absolutely be important to you, but having other important things/things outside of that makes it easier.
And this is not to lecture you, just me sharing my experience since you said you didn't know how to deal. If you or anyone else would like to talk to me about it (not that you have to), anons are always on and my DMs are open <3

after a long few days of bugfixing i think that animal's den 3.0 is finally stable enough, along with a new domain name (http://chimera.pet) and landing page. this update includes:
(mostly) incorporated responsiveness on pages that i'm currently able to update (DID makes this complicated, so some older pages are untouched and buggy, but should warn you ahead of time)
reworked navigation to shy away from iframe-based sidebar
implemented netfriend's html loader as a temporary solution to make my life easier in terms of website layout (though this will change as i aim to eventually learn and incorporate a ssg, primarily 11ty), and other JS-based solutions to daily updates
iframe-based pages now include melonking's frame-link system, enabling specific pages to be linked out (i.e specific journal entries or pokemon pages)
if you've viewed my site before, make sure to press ctrl + shift + r (or whatever hard refreshes your browser) to clear your cached version of my site if things appear broken. feel free to send any bugs you may find on other pages to my askbox or email on the site's footer!

Please šŸ™ tell me abt all of your auā€™s omg omg pls, I wanna hear all abt them and the lore you got for them /gen
A,,all of them,,?? *stares at paper* I-,, okay,,??
So weā€™ll start with my main two since theyā€™re the ones Iā€™ve made known and will be easier to sum up first
Homeless!AU
Based on the ā€˜what ifā€™ question of: ā€œWhat if Vegan-Su didnā€™t help out Sheriff & defended him during the scene where their locked in a cage & Sheriff being a mutant has been revealed to the whole groupā€
Basically, Iā€™m this Au, Vegan didnā€™t help out Sheriff in convincing the others thatā€™s heā€™s still the same person regardless of being a half mutant. So once theyā€™ve escaped & gotten the mushroom they just..kick him out. No real remorse or empathy. They donā€™t try to hear him out or anything. They just make him leave.
He does leave without a fight or anything, after all heā€™d unfortunately been expecting this outcome. And itā€™s not like he can really go back to the life he lived before so he hangs around the abandoned city.
Nothing is being done to prevent his mutation anymore aside from the occasional stealing vegetables from his old friends so it spreads (slowly) up his arm. He also ends up being able to understand the mutants unique language & speak it.
With a growing addiction to coffee beans, a hoodie that he found in the dumpster and no friends he lives his life in the city for a few months, at some point during that Shooter starts coming to the city to try and find Sheriff, feeling incredibly bad. Sheriff doesnā€™t particularly blame Shooter (though he still does partiality) he actively avoids Shooter and any potential interactions.
Iā€™m a bit unsure on how to go about the group seeing Sheriff once more and the angst that will follow with, Iā€™ve tried writing out some possible drafts but nothing seems to stick yet.
ZA!Au
My most recent in this list actually, itā€™s basically a post apocalyptic world filled with zombies and thereā€™s no saving the world or anything like that, the story mainly just focuses on the group slowly building trust and a family they care about.
It starts off with just Sheriff, a 20 year old man whoā€™s a known wanderer, never staying in one place for too long and never getting close to people, he stops at one town to stay the night and thatā€™s where he meets Shooter where, against his will he enjoys the company of and quickly sees as a friend. He pushes those feeling down for the time being though.
The story (imo) truly kicks off once Shooter decides itā€™s a good idea to steal from this town. The townspeople are not fond of this at all and find stealing punishable by death because of scarce resources. So theyā€™ve got Shooter at gunpoint, on his knees begging for some kind of mercy (itā€™s around the middle of the night I feel the need to add). Sheriff who was previously asleep sees this shit going down and it sets him off. Iā€™ll spare most details but just know he gets his hands on a lighter, a car and a shitton of gasoline.
Shooter and Sheriff run (drive) off and end up at Brutuxā€™s place, a guarded lighthouse. Going against anything theyā€™ve ever heard about this guy they enter seeking refuge for the night, which they get. Itā€™s pretty calm despite everything.
Until the next morning when the trio wake to yells of guards down below and a lot of crashing. Turns out two people (Vegan and BP) are stealing supplies and are getting away with it too. Brutux drags Sheriff & Shooter along to catch them to pay off him letting them stay the night.
They catch BP and Vegan at some point, probably when their in the fortress/lab thing. Surprisingly the sibling duo offer to let the trio stay with them since itā€™s high up and much safer. And despite the suspicion they agree.
Thereā€™s a lot of mistrust in the start but slowly. Like snail pace slowly they build up trust.
In this Au, Ryan and Dr. White are both dead fully, both being turned to zombies. With Ryan being killed by a 15 year old Sheriff but not before biting him, leading to Sheriff cutting his own arm off with an axe. And Dr. White being killed by Began & BP, having forced his children to kill him.
Time loop!Au
This one is a little under a year old.
Itā€™s an AU where Sheriff is forced to repeatedly die during the final confrontation with the SM, the SM killing him each time (before the reveal of him being Ryan I should add) heā€™s got no idea why heā€™s being forced into this, at first being in denial, thinking heā€™s dreaming up until the fourth loop.
He keeps track of his deaths on a wall in his room in the ship, carving into it with a knife. Thereā€™s hundreds of marks, each signalling another death. Thereā€™s a small corner in amongst his tallyā€™s. For when he ends the loop early.
Any scars that mayā€™ve been obtained during a previous loop stay with him for all other loops and becomes normal in future timelines. How does he figure this out? When in one loop the SM fully takes his eye out before killing him. He wakes up and can only see out one eye. No one asks him about it.
Eventually he tries telling someone (Iā€™m still not saying who šŸ˜ˆšŸ˜ˆ). He tells them everything, about the loops and his deaths. They think heā€™s crazy at first. At least until he shoots himself infront of them and they come running into his room, panicked he was dead. So now two people know.
Thatā€™s as far as Iā€™ve gotten with this one, itā€™s been awhile since Iā€™ve thought about it, might needa dust some cobwebs from my mind.
Hero!Au
The Au title speaks for itself. Itā€™s a hero Au. In a world where powers exist, heroā€™s and villains do also.
Sheriff and Shooter are popular vigilantes, both being the laws nightmare and best friend. They help out with things though their method of doing so is sometimes questionable.
Sheriff has electricity based powers and pretty powerful ones at that, people with electricity powers are pretty high up on the danger scale given just how much they can do with their abilities, though it differs depending on the person.
For Sheriff he has to constantly have electricity in his system and so more often then not you may catch him sticking a fork in a socket and just,,absorbing the electricity. Heā€™s capable of causing power outages if his powers are too much on the fritz. So yeah, not someone you want as an enemy.
Shooters abilities (if he truly has any) is unknown to the public, heā€™s Sheriffs partner in crime vigilante work and is responsible for all their tech and weaponry. Some people theorise that his ability lets him create almost absurd things from pretty much nothing (ima spoil it, it isnā€™t that)
Vegan Su, BP and Dr. White are all heroā€™s, top ones at that. Well less so Dr. White since heā€™s more focused on science and things rather than being out there actively saving lives. Iā€™m yet to decide on hero names for the sibling duo and abilities for them.
Brutux is a villain but not your standard super villain, more so a criminal who deals with illegal things like drugs and certain weapons. He actually gets along quite nicely with our Vigilante duo and doesnā€™t tend to bother them as much.
Max and Jim are Sheriff and Shooter when their not out being vigilantes, the two work at a fairly small grocery shop (think IGA small- size wise I mean) and their manager is Brutux playing civilian (known as Alex to them) obviously Shooter, Sheriff & Brutux arenā€™t aware of each otherā€™s double life identities since they do well to keep ā€˜em hidden. The truth may eventually come out though.
Thereā€™s a little bit of betrayal in this Au because at some point, Vegan pretends to be a vigilante to get close with Sheriff & Shooter- either to recruit them as heroā€™s or arrest them for several crimes.
Thatā€™s all Iā€™ve got so far for this Au, like the time loop itā€™s been awhile.
Okay this is a very long post holy hell. And thereā€™s one or two that Iā€™m yet to talk about but currently my hand is cramping from typing this all up on my phone so Iā€™ll do them tomorrow after school. This took like,, an hour to write ā˜ ļøā˜ ļø
Anyways though, hope youā€™ve enjoyed my insanely long ramble on my Auā€™s that I would never have shared if not asked to (I donā€™t really mind, the only reason I never shared them is because I came up with them all and thought itā€™d be too many & people would get annoyed at me for having so many but this fandom is starving, I donā€™t think people mind if Iā€™m Au centralā„¢ļø/hj)

Responsive Web Design: The Ultimate Guide
In todayā€™s digital era, a website must be adaptable across various devices to ensure a seamless user experience. This is where Responsive Web Design comes in. Businesses, designers, and developers must prioritize Web Design to stay competitive in the online space. This guide explores everything from fundamentals to advanced strategies, providing actionable insights for businesses looking to implement Web Design effectively For Moreā€¦
How Does Responsive Web Design Work?
Responsive Web Design (RWD) is a design approach that ensures a website adjusts seamlessly to different screen sizes and resolutions. This adaptability enhances usability and improves engagement, making Responsive Web Design essential for modern websites.
Key Elements of Responsive Web Design
Fluid Grids: Layout elements resize proportionally rather than using fixed units like pixels.
Flexible Images: Images scale within the content area without distortion.
Media Queries: CSS techniques allow different styles to apply based on screen dimensions.
Mobile-First Approach: Websites are designed for smaller screens first and then scaled up.
Why Is Responsive Web Design Important?
Enhanced User Experience
Seamless navigation across devices enhances usability. Responsive Web Design ensures that users can browse content effortlessly, regardless of their device.
Lower bounce rates and higher engagement lead to better user retention. By implementing Web Design, businesses create an intuitive experience that keeps visitors engaged.
SEO Benefits
Google prioritizes mobile-friendly websites, improving rankings. Since Responsive Web Design ensures mobile optimization, websites rank higher in search results.
Boosts organic search rankings and improves indexing. Proper implementation of Web Design leads to better crawlability and search visibility.
Cost Efficiency
Eliminates the need for separate mobile and desktop sites, reducing expenses. Responsive Web Design streamlines web development by maintaining a single, adaptable site.
Reduces development and maintenance costs in the long run. With Web Design, businesses save money by minimizing the need for duplicate versions.
Cost-Benefit Analysis of Responsive Web Design
Initial Development Costs
Requires experienced developers and designers for proper execution. Investing in skilled professionals ensures that Responsive Web Design is implemented correctly.
Higher upfront investment but long-term benefits outweigh costs. Though Web Design requires an initial investment, its long-term advantages justify the expense.
Maintenance Costs
Single website simplifies updates and bug fixes. With Responsive Web Design, businesses avoid the hassle of maintaining multiple site versions.
Lowers long-term operational expenses by consolidating site management. Web Design reduces time and effort spent on maintenance.
Business Growth
Attracts a broader audience by ensuring accessibility on all devices. Implementing Web Design helps businesses reach more users across different screen sizes.
Encourages repeat visits and customer loyalty through a seamless experience. A well-optimized Web Design boosts user satisfaction and return rates.
Competitive Edge
Keeps businesses ahead in the digital landscape by improving adaptability. Companies using Web Design gain an edge over competitors with static layouts.
Improves performance metrics and user experience, leading to increased conversions. Well-structured Web Design ensures high engagement and better conversions.
How To Design a Responsive Website in 8 Steps
Plan the Design: Define objectives, user needs, and layout structure. A well-thought-out plan ensures effective Web Design implementation.
Adopt a Mobile-First Approach: Start with small screens before scaling up.
Use Flexible Grid Layouts: Implement fluid grids for adaptability. Fluid grids help maintain the structural integrity of Web Design across devices.
Incorporate Scalable Images: Ensure images resize without distortion. Scalable images prevent content breaking and maintain visual clarity in Web Design.
Utilize CSS Media Queries: Adjust styles dynamically for different screens.
Test on Multiple Devices: Ensure consistency in functionality and design. Testing different screen sizes ensures a seamless Web Design experience.
Optimize Performance: Minimize code, leverage caching, and optimize images.
Implement Continuous Monitoring: Track analytics and improve usability. Regular analysis ensures the effectiveness of Web Design.
Challenges of Responsive Web Design and How To Overcome Them
Performance Optimization
Large images and scripts slow down loading speeds. Responsive Web Design requires compressed images and efficient coding for fast performance.
Solution: Use compression, lazy loading, and efficient coding practices. These techniques improve Web Design speed without sacrificing quality.
Browser Compatibility
Different browsers render elements differently. Responsive Web Design should be tested across multiple browsers for consistency.
Solution: Perform cross-browser testing and use standardized coding techniques. Ensuring uniformity across platforms enhances Responsive Design reliability.
Trade-Offs in Implementing Responsive Design
Speed vs. Functionality
More functionality can slow down website speed. A balance between design elements and efficiency is necessary for Responsive Web Design.
Solution: Balance aesthetics with performance optimization. Optimized Design ensures both usability and speed.
Responsive Web Design Examples
Amazon: Fluid grid layout for a seamless shopping experience.
Apple: Consistent design across devices with a mobile-first approach.
Dropbox: Adaptive UI with smooth scaling on different screens.
