With Ubuntu: Drivers not found during Windows 11 Installation. Here is how!

PROBLEM:

So I was trying to install a fresh or clean copy of Windows 11 Professional on my computer, and everything was pretty straight forward with the obvious. Basically you just download the ISO and flash it to a USB stick. The problem is, when you boot up the Windows 11 setup, and click "Install" it literally cant find any storage drivers. Meaning it cant see any hard drive capable of installing Windows on. But what the heck!?! Its windows 11! Till this moment, I dont know why, and was disappointed. But I do have a high-end latest built computer, so maybe that played a factor!

ANYWAY! I FOUND A SOLUTION!

SOLUTION:

WoeUSB! Using WoeUSB actually is designed to prepare a Windows Installation on a bootable USB from Linux, in my case, Ubuntu 22(23 has issues)

With Terminal: (INSTALL THE Pyhthon-pip for Installation)

sudo apt install git p7zip-full python3-pip python3-wxgtk4.0 grub2-common grub-pc-bin

(INSTALL WoeUSB with pip3 command* NOTE THAT PIP3 ONLY WORKS ON UBUNTU 22, NOT 23.)

sudo pip3 install WoeUSB-ng

Once that's install, its pretty self explanatory. Find the app in the applications section and launch.

Have a copy of windows in ISO, or you can Download a copy and its native website. Follow the on screen and boom! I hope that helped someone!

so this is gonna be a little something that’s been stirring around in my mind for a bit, especially since i’ve recently been lurking around a fandom i left a few years ago and it’s gotten me to think some more about things and specifically about stories.

when creating media, the first and foremost priority ought to be creating a cohesive story. with things like the star wars sequel trilogy, the frozen movies, and every other exhausted franchise that gets three too many sequels, i think that the drive to make an enjoyable story for oneself has long ceased to be a factor in a lot of storytelling.

in the book market, publishers look for what’s hot and then proceed to follow the trend instead of publishing genuinely good stories. moviemakers start a trilogy without any idea of where it’s going and switch directors twice in the space of three movies because they don’t have direction and base their creative choices on the response. frozen 2 had so many issues because the d-biz knew it could make money but neglected to actually present the world with a story that made sense given what was set up in the previous movie. and now a third movie is in the works because it’s such a money-maker.

i think we need to do better. the most consistent advice i’ve heard when it comes to writing is to write the stories you yourself want to hear. when there’s a story you want to see made and you proceed to make it to the best of your ability, people will connect to it. Not everyone will like it, but because it’s a story from beginning to end, it’ll be, at the very least, understandable. i think fans want too much say and i think media creators listen too much to the vocal fans.

this isn’t anything new, i know. but i do think that both sides are a little responsible for the regurgitation of poorly told stories and unnecessary retellings. consumers want their expectations met and creators need an audience and so they cater. so many of the books i enjoy these days are independently published because indie authors publish the stories that they want to write and most of those stories are either not trendy or weird in their premise. and you know what? they’re amazing. a lot of these authors write their hearts out, improving their craft while building up loyal fanbases who’ll buy just about anything they write because they’ve learned to trust that the author will write something with all they’ve got. a favorite author of mine recently set up a kickstarter where her goal was like $5k and by the time the kickstarter was finished, there was like 6 times that much.

please. write your story. put it out there. people will find it and love it. stop caring about every little thing. stop pandering to the whims of everyone else. write what you want. make your movie or your tv show the way you want to and trust that there’s someone else out there who likes the type of stories you like. because with nearly 8 billion people on this planet, that’s not a far-fetched assumption.

Any advice for getting into a creative groove? I really like what I've seen of your work, I have a degree in art but I haven't made anything in a long time and I really want to get back into it

Honestly, a good chunk of it for me is watching other people do creative stuff, often stuff I don't do. I have to be careful when I watch Project Runway reruns because it makes me start frothing and I start doing interior design projects. Sometimes finding an artist who's really engaged and excited to be working on whatever it is that they do is enough to trigger a similar creative fuel, even on something totally unrelated.

Sometimes when I'm in a creative slump, what I need to do is just clean, organize, and pretty up my workspace. I have some dedicated space in my home now, but even before then, when my workspace was portable or just a corner of my apartment, getting all my tools and desk space ready, with no project in mind, helped me feel more excited about creating. If your workspace is uninviting, your mind is not going to feel invited to work. You don't have to spend money on this, just take what you have and get it set up nicely.

Also just...make something stupid and low-effort and silly. If it's been a while then don't start with something big and serious. Get some pipe cleaners and googly eyes and go to town with em. Make a little cardboard marionette. Get one of those five dollar craft kits and turn it into something it's not supposed to be. Just make something. It doesn't need to be good. It doesn't need to be important; it doesn't need to be interesting. You just need to make something, and the process of doing the work is likely to spark some other idea in your head.

Work with a buddy! Schedule yourself an evening with a friend to do a Bob Ross painting together, or to watch a movie while you both sculpt something out of air-dry clay or do whatever art you're both into--again, doesn't have to be good--and the social pressure is likely to help you along.

But overall--don't wait for creativity to strike; don't wait for a perfect idea. Just make something; then do that again. The rest will follow.

I totally understand where some of y'all are coming from when you say that The Lost Boys shouldn't have died or they should have gotten a better ending, but that's kind of the whole point.

Their deaths were pointless. It didn't do anything, it didn't help anyone, it was meaningless, and that's why it happened.

I've talked a lot about The Lost Boys (1987) and how it relates to queerness, but as a refresher: it was directed by a gay man and came out during the height of the AIDS epidemic when queer people were left to die because they defied societal norms.

AIDS was medically recognized in 1981, but because it was primarily affecting queer people (sometimes referred to as "the gay plague"), it was left completely unacknowledged by the Reagan Administration until it took the life of Reagan's friend, the famous American actor Rock Hudson, in 1985. It still wasn't until 1987 that the epidemic was addressed because, as Reagan stated, "maybe the Lord brought down this plague."

(I fully believe that The Lost Boys (1987) is a criticism of the Reagan Administration, both their response to the AIDS epidemic and the ideal of the perfect nuclear family, and I WILL write an essay if prompted, but that is completely beside the point.)

Leaving queer people to die didn't get rid of AIDS or solve any of the world's problems because we were never the source of the problems. It was pointless, and that's part of why The Lost Boys also had to die. Because it solved nothing. Because we died, and we put ourselves in our art to highlight the injustice of it.

While I'm very pleased that we want justice for imperfect victims (because let's face it, The Lost Boys were NOT good people), I think that we should still recognize that the same message wouldn't have been conveyed narratively had they lived: we died and it was pointless, so take out the old man in charge to start fixing shit.

Funniest thing I've seen recently, and not funny in a ha-ha way, more funny in a "the endless entropic void gnawing at my will to live" way, was somebody asking around for alternatives to Neil Gaiman, in the light of Neil Gaiman's ongoing fall from grace. As though what we're currently sitting through isn't the collapse of the carefully curated "Good Guy Neil" image that caused people to parade Gaiman as the same kind of preferred progressive alternative to, say, Rowling. As though we won't be in the same goddamn situation in a few years or months, with some number of the new progressive sci-fi/fantasy darlings- not all of them, to be clear, but at least some of them- when their impeccably-curated marketing implodes in on itself and they're revealed to be the same kind of sex pest or abuser. Can you not see the wheel to which you are strapped. The game of human pinball you are condemning yourself to with this mindset. Maybe you do see, and you're just resigned to taking it one soul-crushing disappointment at a time, one "I never would have guessed" after another.
