Matt Casey- Home Pt1
Things were obviously tuff after my brother Andy's death. Heather my sister in law got a DUI and ended up in prison for 15 months. During that time I looked after hers and my brothers kids, when she was released Heather took Griffin and Ben to live away in Florida. She suddenly stoped phoning me and anytime I would phone her I was cut off. Eventually I was blocked. This was heard on me because all I wanted was to speak to my nephews. Matt and Gabby got divorced then I started dating Matt.
Then one day Griffin appeared on mine and Matts doorstep telling us how his mom keeps moving him around and now is in prison again. Of course after a lengthy conversation Matt and I made the decision that I'd moved in with Griffin, Ben and Heather until I know that she can cope again.
I was gone for a long time, but Matt and I made it work doing long distance. He would also come and visit me any time he could, but it's tough. And unfortunately Heather kept getting into trouble, so Matt suggests that the kids just move in with him and I, that way Heather can sort herself out and the kids would have a stable environment. Plus with Gabby leaving I was offered to become PIC of ambo 61. I'm not just coming home because of that, it's also my best friend Kelly's wedding.
I walk into the fire house holding on to my nephews hands hoping to surprise everyone. Of course Matt and Kelly know I'm coming home, but they think my flight gets in later
"Geeze, thought I'd at least get some banners for my return"
"Babe?" Matt looks over a little shocked "thought I was picking you and the kids up later"
"Eh flight changed"
"No it didn't you said you wanted to surprise everyone"
"Thanks Ben"
"YN. It's good to have you back" Herrmann pulls me into a hug which is followed by everyone else
"YN thank you for coming back for the wedding"
"Well that's not the only reason I'm back" I say replying to Kelly
"Well don't leave us all waiting" Brett encourages
"Well I'm coming back permanently, Ben, Griffin and I. I'm gonna be the PIC of ambo 61 again"
"Yes!" Gallo fist bumps the air
"Bless our saviour"
"Oh thank god" Brett hugs me again
"What did I miss?" I chuckle
"The person who replaced you temporarily, well she's not the nicest"
"Emma just creates a lot of drama" Gallo replies for Capp
"She's been after the PIC job since you left"
"Oh well don't worry about her anymore. I'm back next shift"
"Perfect" Brett once again hugs me tight
"Right we best get you guys fed. You hungry?" Kelly asks me and the kids
"I'm starving" I reply chuckling. The kids follow Kelly to the kitchen while I get stopped by my very handsome boyfriend
"Hey"
"Hi" I smile up at him "don't be to mad at me for trying to surprise you"
"Just glad your here and staying" he places his hands on either side of my face and presses a kiss against my lips
"Oh Errm sorry to interrupt" we break apart and see Emma "was just coming to collect my things"
"No hard feelings right?"
"No course not" she smiles but I can see how fake it is
"Come on let's grab something to eat" Matt wraps his arm around my shoulders and we head to the kitchen
"If we had known you were coming back we would have made a nice spread"
"It's ok. Don't worry about it"
"Engine 51, Truck 81, Squad 3 , ambo 61. Structure fire 336 Arlington"
"I'll see you guys later. Matt I'll see you at home"
"Home. I like the sound of that" I give him a peck before he shoots off
"Ok let's get you guys home hey?"
On the way home the taxi driver starts to drive passed where the fire. I notice Emma outside getting shouted at, but no Matt, Stella or Sylvie
"Hey can you stop a minute?" I ask and get out
"Hey. Boden things ok? Where's Brett?"
"Inside. Woman's giving birth and Jacobs left her"
"Chief send me in?"
"What. You don't start till...."
"I know but if someone's giving birth up there Brett's gonna need help, please?"
"Ok go"
"Ok boys I want you to stand over there with Chief Boden. Ok don't leave his side"
"Ok" the boys leave the car while I run into the burning building
"Brett? Kidd? Casey?" I shout running up some stairs
"YN?" I hear Brett yell and follow her voice
"Holy shit" I notice the room on fire
"She's crowning" Brett tells me "YN give me the bulb suction" I hand her what she needs while I tend to her wound on her shoulder "ok big push" Brett says. Thankfully we hear crying from the baby
"Ok Kidd Casey carry her out. Brett you got the baby?"
"Yeah"
"Ok when we have them in the ambo I want to put oxygen on the baby just in case as well as the mother. Let's go" I grab the bag and follow the others out. When we get outside to safety I hear Emma getting told to clean out her locker
"Welcome home YN" Brett smiles giving me a side hug once the baby was in the ambo having oxygen thanks to other paramedics that just arrived.
We arrive back at the firehouse, everyone excited for my return when I see Gabby. My old best friend
"Hey" she smiles and Matt and I
"Hi Gabby"
"Well this is awkward" Mouch mumbles earning a nudge from Gallo
"I'm not here to cause drama. Just here for the wedding"
"Errm it's good to see you Gabby. Matt I'm gonna take the kids home. I'll see you later" I give him a kiss and leave the firehouse feeling a little uncomfortable about Matts ex being here. Yes we were once friends and yes ok I'm the bitch that dated her best friends ex husband, but doesn't mean that I'm not a little worried.

—— “Ready big bro? Boden’s about to carve the turkey,” You asked, leaning on Kelly’s doorframe.
“I’ll be right there, just finishing this run sheet.”
“Better hurry up, you know how Boden likes everyone to watch his magic.”
A small chuckle left your mouth as you walked towards Matt’s quarters.
“Turkey time, Baby,” you smiled, leaning over to give him a secretive peck on the lips.
“I’m ready for another kinda time,” he smirked.
“Not right now baby, Boden’s waiting, something about turkey magic.” You pulled him away from his desk and practicality dragged your husband to the common room.
“Casey, Severide, finally,” Boden groaned, “where’s the other Severide?”
“I told Kelly it was chow time just a m-“
You were cut off by your brother slipping in behind you and taking a seat at the table.
“Let’s eat before these damn bells go off,” Boden announced.
As the firehouse passed around the bowls and platters of the thanksgiving feast truck prepared, Matt couldn’t help, but keep smirking in your direction.
“Severide,” Joe called out.
Both you and Kelly popped your heads up from your plates.
“Which one?” Kelly joked.
“PIC Severide. Pass the potatoes.”
You passed the potatoes as Matt kept smirking in your direction.
As the firehouse finished their meals, you called out, “squad’s on dish duty, right?”
“Thanksgiving doesn’t count, that’s a team sport,” Capp argued.
“I say it still counts,” Joe smiled, getting up from his seat.
“Works for me,” Herrmann announced, pushing away from the table.
Truck and Engine, along with you and Shay quickly left the common room as to not be recruited to dry what seemed like millions of dishes.
“Got a minute,” you asked Matt, a devilish grin across your face.
“Hell yeah I’ve got a minute.”
Pulling you into his quarters, he closed the blinds and locked the door behind you as you pulled him into a very passionate make out session. Your hands in each others hair giving you flashbacks to you at 16 with the boy down the road.
With you pulling his shirt off and him pulling off yours, you were fully in the not safe for work category. You were unbuttoning your pants as there was a knock on the door.
You quickly threw your shirt back on and through the blinds, you could tell the shadow on the other side of the door belonged to your brother.
“Casey, you seen my sister?” He knocked.
Matt panicked and threw on his shirt and opened the door before you could tell him he put it out inside out.
Kelly looked at Matt’s shirt and the flushed look on your face.
“Well aren’t you two celebrating the life of that bird?” He shook his head.
“What’s up Kelly?” You asked, attempting to fix your hair.
“Boden wanted to see you, but it’s not urgent if you want to get back to what you were doing.”
Fixing yourself up, you walked out of Matt’s quarters, only to hear Kelly laugh behind you.
“You’re doing it at the firehouse now?” He chuckled.
“We didn’t do anything, you interrupted us,” Matt fired back.
You were just out of earshot now, so you couldn’t hear them, but when you looked over your shoulder, you could tell they hadn’t changed topics.
Just as you were reaching the bullpen, dispatch announced your next call, “Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3, car accident, 555 West Halstead.”
You turned around and started your jog towards the app floor. Shay was already in the drivers seat when you got there, pulling 61 into the street before you could even get your seat belt on.
About two minutes before the accident site, you hit traffic. Heavy, After-dinner, thanksgiving traffic. Lights, horns and sirens weren’t enough to make traffic move even an inch.
“61 how far out are you?” Matt called over the radio.
“Two minutes, but we’ve hit stand-still traffic,” you sighed.
“Call for another ambo, we’re in bad shape over here.”
“61 to Main, we’re stuck in traffic and unable to take in the West Halstead call. Requesting another ambo for truck and squad assist,” you radioed into dispatch.
“Ambulance 90 is 20 minutes out,” dispatch replied.
“Casey, did you get that?” You asked.
“Yeah, do what you can to get here quickly. We’ve got a victim in labor,” he replied.
You motioned to Leslie to try the horns and siren again.
“No luck,” she announced, frustrated and banging on the steering wheel.
“How’s she doing?” You asked Matt.
“Contractions are about two-ish minutes apart.”
“Matt she’s going to need to start pushing. Get all the blankets and the med kit from the truck. You’re going to have to deliver there.”
Leslie looked over to you, shocked at what you just said.
“Are you sure you want him to do that?” She whispered.
“We don’t have much of a choice,” you whispered back, “plus it’s Matt. He’s a natural.”
“We’re ready here,” Casey told you.
“Ok on her next contraction, I need you to tell her to push. Keep her focused on this baby.”
“I don’t know if I can do this, Severide.”
“You have to.”
Several minutes went by without communication from Matt. Finally, over the radio, you could hear screaming from the laboring mother.
“How’s she doing, Matt?”
“Baby’s about half way. Next contraction is about to start.”
The traffic in front of you started to ease enough so Shay could maneuver around it.
“Casey, we’re on our way. A minute out,” Shay announced.
“I shouldn’t stop right?” He asked.
“Keep going, Casey. We’ll take over when we get there. Once the baby is born, dry it off and hand it to the mother.”
Shay was focused, her knuckles white from the amount of force she was putting on them, trying to make sure you got to this victim.
Pulling up to the accident seen, you saw Matt by the passenger door of a mangled car.
“Baby is here,” Matt called out over the radio.
Grabbing the jump bag, monitor, oxygen and stretcher, you and Shay rushed to Matt’s side.
“Casey, we’re gonna load and go,” you informed him.
“We didn’t have anything to cut the cord,” he was breathing heavily.
As you truck helped you with loading the victim, you reassured Matt.
“You did good. Congrats, Casey,” you smiled, shutting the ambulance doors behind you.
——
Arriving back to the house late, you flopped into your bunk and fell right to sleep. You were blessed with no overnight calls to end the shift, so you could actually get a little sleep, a rarity on shift.
When you woke up, you quickly packed your duffel bag and met Matt out front.
“Ready?” He asked.
“Yeah, let’s go,” you smiled, “maybe some uninterrupted time?”
Matt shot you a look.
“Is that a yes?” You asked, getting in his truck.
“Definitely,” he grinned, starting the truck.
As you arrived back at your apartment, Matt had a look on his face.
“What’s on your mind?” You asked, plopping down on the couch.
“That call.”
“The car accident?”
“Yeah. I delivered a baby on a road today,” he rushed.
“I’m so proud of you.”
“I think we should have a baby,” he paced.
“What?”
“Yeah, you and me. We could do it, I know we can.”
“Matt, I-“
“Baby, we’d be so good-“
“Matt!” You yelled, cutting him off mid sentence.
“What?”
“I don’t know if I’m ready to have a baby,” you admitted.
“What?”
“I’m finally in a good spot at 51. I finally made PIC. I don’t want to take time off right now. I know you want to have a baby.”
“Yeah, I do,” he said, firmly.
“I don’t know if I can have a baby with you right now.”
He grabbed his duffel off the floor and started walking towards the door.
“Where are you going?” You got up from the couch.
“You can’t drop a bomb like that on me and expect me to just sit here. I’m going to Kelly’s.”
The apartment door shut with a bang. All you could think was “was this a mistake?”

Speaking of threesomes, do u have any recommendations to read?
there are so many great ones on this app but here are some of my favourites that I could find right now!
OUT WITH A BANG by @holy-pucks (jt compher x reader x tyson jost) - this overall was really hot and well written, I haven't had a chance to finish it yet but I do know that there is a part two for those interested!
TOUCH ME LIKE A SUMMER NIGHT by @senditcolton (casey cizikas x matt martin) - this was actually my first introduction to both of these players and I have to say that it is still one of my favourite things that I have read to this day.
ADDICTIONS by @drysdalesv (trevor zegras x jack hughes) - you guys are getting the entire series linked here because of how much I loved it, this is honestly the entire reason why I started writing threesomes too!
↳ honourable mentions from this author
THE AFTER PARTY by @comphy-and-cozy (brady skjei x andrei svechnikov) - this one had me KICKING my feet I loved it so much, the whole new fling x old flame pairing had me rolling on the floor.
IN A BOX by @babydollmarauders (trevor zegras x jamie drysdale) - this had such a good progression that not only had me feeling like a puddle but also beyond speechless in the best ways possible.
DIGITAL ANIMALS by @burreaux-drys (ethan edwards x rutger mcgroarty) - THIS ONE, im still not over. literally if you're a reader for college boys go read this right now.
THE ROAD WIFE by @cellythefloshie (tampa bay lightning) - I put this at the end because I am not entirely sure that it counts as a threesome but like literally if you don't mind a bit of cheating then. you gotta get behind this one.

Masterlist
One Chicago
******************************************************************
“I can’t wait to get this baby out.” Y/n said as she walked over to sit on the couch from the kitchen. It was nice to have her husband and their bestfriend home after a long week.
“You done y/n/n?” Kelly asked amused at his pregnant friend. He did feel bad for her, the pregnancy hadn’t been an easy one.
“Yes, Severide. I am.” Y/n narrowed her eyes playfully at the salt n pepper haired man sitting across from her.
“Are you still coming over to help set up the nursery after shift tuesday?” Matt asked coming into the living room, handing Severide a beer before sitting down next to y/n.
“Yeah. of course I want to help set up my nephew or . . . Niece’s room.” Kelly smiled, hinting obviously at the certain information he has yet to be told. Kelly has been the most excited besides Y/n and Matt for the baby to come and he’s been trying to get the gender out of them since he knew the couple found out.
Y/n laughed at his antics, before turning her head to face Matt. “Come on Matt, I think he deserves to know. He is an uncle and Godfather right.”
Matt smiled nodding, giddy about finally letting his best friend know the gender of his baby. “Okay, okay. Let me go get the thing.”
“Thing?” he asked with confusion all over his face as he looked at Y/n since Matt left the room.
“Yes, thing. We planned a way to tell you.” Y/n smiled, also excited for Kelly to know the gender of their baby. Matt and her both knew Kelly was going to be very included in their child's life.
Matt came back into the room with a small gift bag with tissue paper coming out the top. Once he handed Kelly the bag he sat back down next to his wife, both smiling at the Squad Captain as he stared at the bag in his hands. “Go on, open it.”
With the encouragement Kelly did as told excitedly digging into the bag. “No!” he looked up towards the couple across from him with pure excitement lit up in his eyes. “Are you kidding?!”
Y/n nodded with watery eyes, loving his reaction. “We’re having a baby girl.”
The rest of the night was filled with so much happiness from all 3 of them. And Kelly knew Stella was gonna be so pissed she didn’t end up coming that night.

Hi! Could we get a smutty and fluffy follow up to the Sev x Jay x Reader story as it ended with “let’s put a baby in you”. The fun night and then afterwards about loving being together and having a family. ❤️
yes, yes we can
here is the one anon is referring too
a/n: i apologize. this is the first smut i’ve written in a while
notes: you’re a graphic and interior designer that worked from home; you decided to hyphenate jay and kelly’s last names, and are all severide-halstead (throuples are known and legal), but co-workers will call them their respective last names still sometimes
this was longer than i intended but i hope this is what you were wanting! i don’t mind going more in-depth into any of the topics i covered in this, as well as the other thouples i have listed here
when you finally got home, you were pushed up against the door by kelly while jay locked said door. jay came up behind you and started kissing your neck and you let out a moan when he hit your sweet spot. kelly tapped your legs and you wrapped them around his waist. when you and kelly broke apart, jay was the first to speak,
“c’mon babes, let’s take this upstairs, so we can worship our milf properly.”
kelly maneuvered you so you were thrown over his shoulder and took you upstairs with jay. once on the bed, everyone started stripping. they gave you a few orgasms before alternating coming in you, and once when they were both in you at the same time. the whole night was moans, profanities, statements, and screams.
“look at you, all ready for us” “i cannot wait until these are filled with milk” “i/we can’t wait to make you a mommy” “i can’t wait to make you daddies” and so on.
next shift, they would both get teased.
intelligence
“well looks like halstead got some after defending his wife”
“oh shut up ruzek. i think its sweet”
“what can i say? i love my wife and husband”
51
“damn severide, you look like you got mauled by a lion”
kelly just looked at casey confused
“your back?”
kelly goes to the mirror and looks at his back. there were fingernail scratches all up and down it.
“this stays between us, matthew”
matt just laughed and kelly sent a text to your group chat.
a few months later you weren’t feeling well and realized you were late so you went to the store to get tests. all six of them were positive. when kelly and jay came home, you gave them a bag each with a test. when they opened it, they both looked at you then your stomach then back up at you. kelly was the first to speak
“you’re pregnant?”
you just nodded, with tears in your eyes. both came and hugged and kissed you. throughout the pregnancy they were at your beck and call. when you went to find the gender, you not only found it out, but you also found out you were having twins, both which were girls. once everyone found out, they were so excited and helped in any way they could.
when your daughters were born, after a very long and painful labor, it was hard to take them away from jay and kelly. they wanted to protect them from the world. they would thank you for giving them your daughters and you were just in awe at how quickly they became professionals.
you named them fallon james severide-halstead and blakely jade severide-halstead.
they loved being at home with their girls and loved helping when you would get clogged ducts and in general. when the doctor cleared you for sex, will and connor took the twins and they went at your pace.
a year later you got pregnant, again.
life with them was amazing, and once your third baby was born, jay retired from working, and helped with them while you worked from your at-home office, and when you were pregnant with your fourth, kelly moved to ofi for consistent hours, and a less dangerous job, and you couldn’t be more grateful.
your last pregnancy you got pregnant with twins, again, and once they were born, you all decided that 6 was enough.

~~~~~~~~~~
You and Matt have been married for three years. Despite once being in a relationship with Matt, you quickly befriended Gabby when you were her partner on 61. Now, Gabby is a firefighter under Matt and you are partnered up with Brett. Through all of the awkward moments between you and Gabby when it comes to Matt, you are still best friends. Gabby was one of your biggest supporters when you were pregnant with y/s/n. You and Matt had recently broken it off because of his alderman duties when you started getting violently sick. As your roommate and fellow paramedic, Gabby was obviously very concerned until she connected the dots.
Now, a little over three years later, you and Matt are married with a baby girl on the way. The morning sickness has definitely been the worst during this pregnancy, but Matt, Gabby, Kelly, Brett, and Stella have been nothing but supportive. As of right now, you are laying in Matt’s office with a trash can by his cot while Brett and Gabby are trying to calm you down as Matt rushes around to grab a few things. Kelly finds Matt pacing in the locker room, running his hands through his hair.
“Woah man. What’s wrong?” Kelly asks, coming to stop Matt and try to calm his best friend.
“God Sev.” Matt mutters, tears threatening to spill. “She is just so sick and I hate seeing her like this. I mean, I was talking to Gabby the other day and I don’t know.” Matt said, shaking his head and lowering himself to a seat on one of the benches.
Kelly sighed as he lowered himself to the bench beside his best friend. “You don’t have to be afraid Matt. You are already such a good husband and father. Adding one more will be a piece of cake.” Kelly soothed, patting Matt on the back.
Matt shook his head. “I never really had a father figure growing up. I’m scared I’m going to mess up and they are going to leave. Gabby tried to talk me down too and nothing…”
“Excuse me?” You croaked, leaning heavily on Brett as she helped steady you on the way to the bathroom while Gabby stayed behind to change Matt’s sheets.
“Y/n.” Matt sighed, standing slowly and coming over to you.
“No. You talked to Gabby and Kelly, but not your own wife? The mother of your TWO children!” You exclaimed, starting to shake as you began to yell.
“Baby. It’s not like that at all.” Matt plead, hands out to steady you, but you tumbled back, only being caught by Brett.
“You don’t get to be scared Matt Casey.” You whispered. “You and I are suppose to be in this together. I’m terrified every single moment since I’ve been pregnant. You know I have a fear of vomiting, yet I go through this because I love you and I love y/s/n and I want him to have a sibling.” You wept, closing your eyes as the world stared to tilt.
“Y/n!” Matt, Kelly, and Brett yelled.
You pushed back at Matt when he tried to touch you, letting Brett and Kelly lower you to the floor.
“Go get a sick bag, a water, and Gabby. Have her bring the go bag.” Brett said, feeling for your pulse.
“Shhhh. Breathe.” Kelly instructed, taking your face in his hands. “Everything will be just fine.”
“What if he leaves?” You sobbed, grabbing onto Kelly for dear life. “I need him. I’m just really hurt that he won’t talk to me but I need him.” You sobbed, not realizing that Matt was standing behind the three of you as he waited for Gabby clutching a sick bag and a bottle of water.
“Baby, no.” Matt whispered, coming to crouch in front of you, handing what he had off to Kelly. “Yeah, I’m scared and yes, I should have talked to you. But understand this: I. Am. Not. Going. Anywhere.” Matt emphasized, looking you dead in the eyes. “Both Gabby and Kelly found me in a panic and that’s why I told them. You are dealing with so much right now and I don’t want you to worry about me too.” Matt explained, wiping the tears from your face as Gabby came in with the go bag, slipping the pulse ox on your finger and the BP cuff on.
“How we doin?” Gabby asked, seeing your heart rate elevated and your oxygen levels at 95.
“Nauseous and dizzy.” You explained, leaning into Matt’s hands as he held your face.
“BP’s low.” Brett announced, grabbing the Iv kit from the bag. “I think you’ve got yourself dehydrated. I’m going to place a line.” Brett said, already prepping your arm.
Your eyes widened as you looked between all of your friends and your husband. “No way. Nope.” You said, trying to stand, but quickly falling back down into Kelly with Matt guiding your decent.
“You aren’t going anywhere. Relax.” Kelly said, squeezing your upper arms.
“Matt, please.” You begged, tears streaming down your face. You were starting to turn grey as the nausea built along with your anxiety.
“Shhh. It’s gonna be alright.” Matt soothed, kissing your forehead before turning to Kelly. “Switch with me. Let me hold her, it normally calms her down. Get the sick bag ready.” Matt instructed, quickly switching with Kelly as the man did what he was instructed to do. Matt sat with you in between his legs so that your back was pushed to his chest. He rested his chin lightly on your shoulder as he whispered in your ear. “Shhhh. It’s for the best. I’m sorry baby. I’m so sorry. I love you. I’ve got you.” Matt whispered as you began hyperventilating from the panic of the rising nausea and the impending IV.
“Look at me. Just look at me.” Kelly said, kneeling in your line of sight. He waited until you opened your eyes to meet his own. Kelly smiled at you as he started breathing in time with Matt. “Just relax. We gotcha. We gotta do what’s best for you and the little princess, right?” Kelly said, smiling wider when you nodded. “That’s right. Just breathe. Follow us and focus on us.” Kelly instructed.
Matt noticed you starting to follow, but saw Brett going in with the needle. Matt and Kelly made eye contact as the needle pinched your skin. Kelly saw your change in color as Matt felt your gasp and then gag harshly.
“Shit. Okay, here sweetheart. Hang in there.” Kelly said, placing the bag under your chin as Matt pulled your hair back once more and held you steady around the torso.
“I’m gonna flush this, then give her some Zofran. We gotta get this under control. You cool with that and then some fluids for her Matt?” Brett asked, flushing the IV as she spoke.
“God yes. Whatever you have to do.” Matt instructed, hating how you were squirming and panting in his lap. You shook like a leaf as Matt held you on the cold tile floor.
“Gabby. Can you run and grab a blanket and a wash rag? She’s shaking like a leaf.” Kelly asked, not daring to move the sick bag too far. You were only panting right now, but you had no color to your face.
“On it!” Gabby replied, hurrying off.
“Alright. You know this might sting just a little. Then I’m gonna flush it and then run the fluids, okay?” Brett warned, speaking directly to you now. Once you nodded, Brett administered the medication and did everything else she said she would do before standing up with the bag of saline.
Gabby came running back in as Brett stood up. You were still shaking, but you felt comfortable enough to push the sick bag away. Once Gabby helped you clean your face and wiped the sweat off of your face, she wrapped the blanket around you. A silent decision was made to move you, so Kelly pulled you up and steadied you until Matt stood back up and picked you up, carrying you back into his office.
You groaned, throwing your head back. “Can someone PLEASE get me some mouth wash or my tooth brush. I can’t take this taste anymore.” You whined, shoving your face into Matt’s neck as he sat with you in his lap on his cot.
You didn’t notice Kelly depart from you guys as the lot of you left for Matt’s office. He came back in seconds later with mouth wash, your tooth brush and tooth paste, another bottle of water and another sick bag. “I figured you would want to get the taste out.” Kelly said, confused at the laughter coming from everyone else.
“Thank God. Someone with some sense.” You muttered sarcastically, making grabby hands for the items.
Matt and Gabby muttered “I beg to differ” at the same time, causing everyone to laugh. God, you couldn’t do this without them.
If you are still taking prompts:
Matt (Brettsey) + How could you move on from me so easily.
Okay, so. Welcome to angst town. I also had a huge Hallie part written but decided to make it its own thing because it didn't NEED to be in here. Anyway. The angst is big in this one, sorry lmao. But also they get some closure. Enjoy 2.5k of Matt being the most depressed person in existence.
(also, i'd like to say now- they are both at fault for the break up, it wasn't solely Matt and it wasn't solely Sylvie. I see a lot of people saying she was the bad guy for breaking up with Matt, but her reasons were all completely valid. If I were in her shoes I think I might have done the same thing. They both needed to work harder at it, and while I think they might have been able to save it, I also think that maybe it was needed? Jesse leaving for real fucked everything up, but like duh he deserves a break and deserves to be with his wife and daughter and at the end of the day that's what matters most. so yeah, this fic might seem like it's not the best to sylvie at first, but I promise there is closure for them, and it's written in matt's pov so keep that in mind too!)
X X X
He spots her with a man the second he walks in, clean cut but with a beard, who looks at her kindly and smiles along with her. She’s laughing at something he says and Matt can’t tear his eyes away. She looks happy, like she genuinely wants to be talking to this guy across from her, and then he notices their hands- sitting on top of the table, intertwined. Any thought that this guy might just be a friend is shattered, and he realizes then that she’s on a date. A date that obviously isn’t the first, because who holds hands on a first date? Certainly not Sylvie Brett, that much he’s certain of. It’s not as if he’s searched for her, not really. He’s back in Chicago to visit for the weekend; the first time since their break up, and he’s only stepped into the pizza place to pick up a pie to take back to the loft for he, Severide and Kidd to enjoy. Seeing Sylvie on a date is so out of left field he feels like all the air in the small hole in the wall has been sucked out of him. Turning quickly so she won’t spot him, he debated leaving, but Matt Casey won’t be a coward again. Instead, he walks up to the counter and orders, then steps to the side to wait, resolutely not looking to his right. Except.
Except he can’t. He’s been pulled to Sylvie for years, no matter how much it might hurt at times. He glances over as subtly as he can, watching both of the beautiful people laugh and smile. His chest aches. He’s almost home free, almost out without being noticed, when the worker ruins it all.
“Pizza for Matt Casey!”
He knows she looks up, he can practically feel her state boring into the back of his head, but he keeps his eyes fixed ahead of him, walking up and grabbing the box hastily, barely managing a ‘thanks’ before bolting. He doesn’t look back, doesn’t turn to catch a glimpse of her shocked face, or the way the guy squeezes her hand a little tighter and asks if she’s ok. He has to get out and back to the loft.
Unlocking the door to the loft, precariously balancing the pizza box in one hand, Matt rushes inside, feeling dumb. It’s not like the paramedic would have followed him. They’re not together anymore. She’s on a date with what he can only assume is her new boyfriend. He drops the pizza box on the island in the middle of the open kitchen, ignoring his best friend's confused look.
“Dude, you okay? You look like you saw a ghost…”
Matt’s about to reply when Kidd walks up, phone in her hand. Her brow is furrowed and she looks at the dark blonde with an unreadable expression. Severide looks from one to the other.
“Anyone wanna tell me what’s going on?”
Silence, and then-
“Nothing.”
“Brett was there.”
The words all ring out at the same time and Severide sucks in a breath.
“Oh shit.”
“Look,” Matt rubs a hand through his darkening hair. “It’s fine, I’m fine. She’s on a date? It’s none of my business. Good for her, I’m happy for her. She deserves someone who makes her happy.”
The words sound oddly hollow and so familiar it’s like he’s back in the past. Jesus, how many guys has he watched her try to date? How many guys has he pushed her towards? She must have texted Kidd to tell her what happened. The room feels suddenly too warm.
“Yeah man, you sound elated.” Severide raises an eyebrow.
Swallowing down a snarky comment or two, Matt forces himself to shrug. It’s not like he can break them up; not that he would ever do that, and he’s not even back in Chicago yet. This is a four day visit, not a homecoming. Flipping open the box, he takes a plate and slides a large piece onto it.
“Can we just drop it? We’re not together anymore, she’s welcome to be with whoever she wants and do whatever she wants. We broke up seven months ago, I’d be surprised if she hadn’t found someone by now.”
The couple in front of him share a look.
“What?”
“Not to overstep Casey, but have you found anyone, or even tried?” Kidd’s voice is cautious but he can hear the curiosity.
The truth is, he has tried. He’s tried twice, but both times were a disaster and he walked away from both doorsteps knowing it was one silly date with minimal chemistry and was going to fizzle out before he could even try to do damage control.
“I’ve tried, yeah. Both times just didn’t work out.” He keeps his voice level, the idea of sharing all of his thoughts uncomfortable. “Who knows, maybe I’m just not meant to be with someone,” he tries to joke, but it falls flat and brings more silence.
“Well that’s depressing,” Severide sighs, shaking his head.
“Right, so,” Kidd bites at her lip, rubbing the back of her neck. “I may or may not have invited her here tonight, to kind of take her mind off of things? A girls night. So….”
Jesus. H. Christ. Logically, Matt knows it’s a normal thing to do- two best friends having a special night when one of them is upset, he witnessed enough of those with his sister, but why the firefighter thought it was a good idea to do it here, while he’s here?
“Great, so I’ll be going…anywhere else, then.” Matt presses the heels of his hands to his closed eyes, trying to calm himself down.
“Dude, stay, we can-“
“I don’t think it’s very smart to stay and be around when I’m the reason this is happening. He stares at his slice of pizza. He’s not hungry anymore. Putting the plate in the fridge, he makes sure his phone and wallet are in his pocket then gives what he hopes is a smile to his friends.
“I’ll be back later, don’t wait up, might be a while,” he says with a tight smile. When no one stops him, he nods and heads out the door.
It’s almost eleven o’clock when he walks back into the apartment building, heart heavy, eyes rimmed red and puffy from crying. He’s tired and emotionally drained from having gone to see his sister and then to the cemetery to visit his late fiancé. Talking to Hallie was always emotional, and today was no exception. Six feet hadn’t ever felt so far away. Sylvie’s always been more of a morning person than a night person, so surely she’s gone by now.
The moment the door opens, his brain starts yelling at him to abort, to shut the door back and turn around. Sitting there on the couch, curled up next to Stella and under a big fuzzy blanket, is Sylvie, blonde hair pulled back into a ponytail, wearing a too-big sweatshirt that Matt doesn’t recognize. He blinks hard and steps further inside.
“Hey, sorry, I-“
“We’ll shit Casey, way to undo all my hard work of making her forget everything,” Kidd groans.
Matt kind of wants to punch something. How is it that she gets all this special treatment, that she gets all this sympathy from people and he’s treated as if he’s the bad guy? Everyone at fifty one seems to have come to the consensus that either the breakup was mutual or he’d done it. At least, that’s the vibe he got after stopping by for half an hour the day prior, while ambo had been out (not that he’d done that on purpose).
“Sorry. I have a headache, so I’m going to head to bed, I’ll see you in the morning. Sylvie, it’s uhm, it’s nice to see you.”
Somehow his voice doesn’t waver for which he’s grateful. He knows he sounds like he’s been crying, his head is aching behind his eyes and his nose is completely stuffed up. That plus how he looks is probably giving them both the wrong impression. The Captain makes the familiar walk down the right hallway to his old bedroom, shutting the door quietly before letting out a large sigh. Wonderful.
He’s just finished changing into an old pair of grey sweatpants and a fire academy shirt when there’s a knock at the door, no doubt Severide being asked to make sure he’s alright. When he opens it, he stops dead and feels his heart pick up speed. Sylvie is standing there with her big blue eyes, her hand on her watch, twisting it. She’s nervous to talk to him, and now he feels like an asshole for no logical reason.
“Hey.”
“Hi, I just,” she clears her throat and blinks. “I just wanted to make sure you were alright. I didn’t know you were back in town.”
The atmosphere is awkward and Matt isn’t sure if he should ask her to come in or not. He stays planted in his spot, feeling unable to move. The area behind his eyes gives a throb.
“Just visiting for a few days. Hallie’s birthday is next week and I haven’t missed one yet, but I’m on shift so I thought I’d come early,” he explains, giving a weak smile. “And I’m fine,” he adds. “I hope you’re doing well. I saw you earlier today, obviously. You seem happy.”
Sylvie nods, giving him a small smile. It looks half pained and half something else, maybe pitying? Guilty?
“I’m,” she pauses, thinking. “I’m trying, to be happy. I’m working on it. And I hope you are too.”
Matt contemplates telling her that he’s glad she’s happy, that he’s trying also, that he’s even found someone, just to make that sad look on her face go away. Instead, words start tumbling out before he can even realize what they are.
“Can I ask you a question? How…how could you move on from me so easily? From us?”
Silence. It’s so loud that Matt has to swallow and then continue just so it will stop. “You don’t need to answer that. I’m sorry, that was out of line. You don’t owe me anything, or any explanation,” he rushes to get out, hands starting to shake from adrenaline.
“I haven’t, I don’t think. Gotten over you, I mean. But if I don’t try then I never will. And it sucks and it hurts, but I can’t just pause my life and wallow in it forever, you know?”
Her eyes are shiny and Matt hates himself for once again making this wonderful, beautiful, funny, smart woman cry. Her words sting. It’s obvious just from the question that he hasn’t moved on either, but unlike her, he’s not really making much effort. He’s pausing his life, wallowing in the fact he and Sylvie aren’t together. He feels nauseous. Some tiny part of him had selfishly hoped that maybe once he came back for good their stars would align, like she had said. He doesn’t think they have stars anymore. Maybe just a big black hole sits where they once were.
“I wouldn’t ever expect you not to move on,” he explains slowly. “I uh, I know you have that guy? He seemed nice from what I witnessed. I’ve always said you deserve happiness Sylvie, and that hasn’t changed. I just want you to be happy. And I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to provide that for you when you needed it most. All of it was unfair to you, and I understand why we didn’t work out. It does suck. But if you’re happy then I’m happy.”
Sylvie stares at him and then steps closer. Suddenly her arms are around him, hugging him tightly. He hugs her back, suddenly realizing this is most likely the last hug they’ll ever share.
“I’m sorry. I know you’re unhappy Matt. I know you’re trying. I know Portland’s been hard, and I know I couldn’t give you what you needed either. It’s not just me who suffered. And I’m sorry,” tears are falling down her porcelain face and Matt feels tears on his own too.
He pulls back just enough to stare into her eyes and for a moment all he wants to do is have one last kiss, one last moment of feeling her and tasting her and having her. But he won’t be that person who kisses someone that’s taken. He doesn’t want to harm her new relationship. The words are washing over him and it feels like something in him has cracked open. Sylvie has always seen him, more than anyone- more than his sister, his mother, Hallie, Gabby. Sylvie’s the only one who’s ever been able to tell exactly how he’s feeling, even during the times he’s locked his feelings down as deep as they can go.
“Thank you.” It comes out as a half sob, and he hugs her tight again, then finally, the spell is broken and they step apart at the same time. Matt’s a mess, Sylvie’s still beautiful, and he’s now certain that no one will ever come close to Sylvie Brett. She was it for him- the ring that’s still in his dresser drawer is proof of that.
But they are over and Matt will eventually come to terms with that, at least he hopes he will.
“You should g-get back to Kidd, she’s probably annoyed now,” he gives a watery laugh.
“Yeah. Thank you, Matt. For everything. I’m sorry we ended up like this.”
“I’m sorry too. Thank you, Sylvie.”
She walks back down the hall, and he can see her swiping at her face. He turns and sits back on the bed that once used to be his and starts desperately trying to compartmentalize all the hurt and sadness. Sylvie changed him in so many ways, but this particular part of him won’t ever change, and he’s aware of it. Even she didn’t scratch the surface of this particular issue of his, but she also never got the chance. He hears her voice talking to Kidd and shuts his door, suddenly angry, not for a specific thing, but just angry.
Before he can stop himself, before he can calm himself down or remind himself he’s not who he used to be- an angry kid, an angry teenager, an angry man in his late 20’s who lost a best friend or fiancé, he moves. He doesn’t think about the fact the wall isn’t dry wall like every other wall he’s punched, but he comes back down to earth quickly, blind anger turning into pain as his knuckles hit brick and cement. The pain radiates from his knuckle through his wrist and he lets out a quiet, strangled noise.
At least that’s something he can focus on instead of his never ending thoughts about the woman forty feet away.
'When Christopher Nolan's historical epic "Oppenheimer" made its way into theaters, it did so fronting serious A-list energy in stars Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., and Florence Pugh. Impressive as those names are, "Oppenheimer"'s extended cast of supporting players whom Nolan assembled is truly jaw-dropping, with names like Casey Affleck, Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Quaid, and Rami Malek topping the list. If you scroll far enough down the "Oppenheimer" IMDb page, you'll even see the name of Mr. James Remar, who played U.S. Secretary of War Henry Stimson in the film.
If you've seen "Oppenheimer," you know Remar's character doesn't garner a ton of screen time. Like most of the film's supporting team, however, the actor more than made the most of his moments. He even added to one of the film's most powerful scenes, reportedly improvising the line of dialogue where Stimson removes Kyoto from the list of possible bombing sites in Japan in part because he and his wife honeymooned there. It's a powerful moment, to be certain. And it's just one of many Remar has delivered over the years.
Fans of 1997's "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" hardly need a reminder of Remar's skill, as the actor put just as much energy into playing super-powered kung fu fighter Raiden in the film. Of course, given the video game adaptation's critical and commercial shortcomings, "MK: Annihilation" hardly ranks among the actor's biggest hits. And yes, Remar has contributed to quite a few hits in his decades-long career.
Mortal Kombat is but one of many intriguing entries on James Remar's resume
To be fair, the general shortcomings of "Mortal Kombat: Annihilation" hardly rest on the shoulders of James Remar, with producer Lawrence Kasanoff claiming in the 2017 book "Lights, Camera, Game Over!" that studio bosses forced the filmmakers to release the movie before it was actually finished. Lack of polish aside, "MK: Annihilation" has become a low-key cult hit over the years, with certain fans now embracing its schlocky, B-movie energy.
As it happens, that cult status is sort of fitting since one of Remar's first big roles came in Walter Hill's 1979 cult hit crime thriller "The Warriors." Remar was quick to capitalize on that early success, scooping up roles in hit '80s TV shows like "Hill Street Blues," "Miami Vice," and "The Equalizer." He'd also appear in celebrated films like William Friedkin's "Cruising" (opposite Al Pacino), Hill's Eddie Murphy vehicle "48 Hrs.," Francis Ford Coppola's "The Cotton Club," and Gus Van Sant's landmark indie "Drugstore Cowboy."
Remar has continued to split time between the film and television realms over the years, making notable big-screen appearances in "Pineapple Express," "The Blackcoat's Daughter," "RED," "Django Unchained," and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," as well as contributing to the "X-Men," "Transformers," and "Fast & Furious" franchises. On television, Remar has turned up for roles on "Sex and the City," "The Vampire Diaries," "Gotham," "Animal Kingdom," "Yellowstone," "The Rookie," and the recent Arrowverse hit "Black Lightning." Still, Remar is perhaps best known to modern TV viewers for his series-long stint on "Dexter," where he portrayed the title character's murderous adoptive papa, Harry Morgan.'
Matt Casey- Fight For Us Pt1 (rewritten)
YN and Matt have been married now for 5 years. They have a little girl together who is the spitting image of YN, but has her dads mannerisms . They love one another, they truly do, but after their best friend Andy Darden died they drifted apart. YN Andy and Severide all went to school together. They've known each other since kindergarten and been best friends since. Matt really struggled with the loss of his Andy, blamed himself for his death, your best friends death, which led to pushing his wife away.
Things have been getting better for the pair and for the first time in 2 months they are finally in a good place again. Of course they're both still dealing with the loss of one of their best friends but they know that together they will get through it.
"I wish you and Kelly would sort out what's going on between you both" I sigh washing up the breakfast bowels while mine and Matts 5 year old daughter is getting ready for school
"Yeah well he's blaming me for Andy's death"
"I know and I'll speak with him, but we were best friends. All wanted to go through the academy together. If it wasn't for my asthma I wouldn't be a paramedic"
"The best paramedic" I pass the bowels to Matt to dry and raise my eyebrows
"Dont change the subject. Look all I'm saying is Kelly is angry, upset, hell we all are, but he needs to blame someone and if it's not you it will be himself. At least you can take it"
"Momma I'm ready" Ella calls from the hallway
"I'm coming" I call back "I'll drop Ella off at school. I'll see you in a bit" I peck Matt on the lips and turn to move, but before I can get to our daughter he pulls me back to him
"We're good aren't we?" he asks looking into my eyes
"Course we are" I give him another kiss then leave the house with Ella.
Almost immediately after I arrive at the firehouse we're on a call, a huge car accident has happened. I run over to one car where there's a little girl inside just a little older than Ella
"Hi sweetie I'm YN. Can you tell me your name?" I ask
"Madeline"
"Ok, listen, Madeline, I want you to see if you can
turn your head toward me" the little girl does as I ask. She has a huge gash on the side of her head. Once the mom is out I jump into the car through the drivers side "hey, your going to be ok"
"It's dumping gas" mouch shouts as the car in front starts to flam. Madeline starts to whimper
"We're ok. Look my partners coming now to help me get you out" Leslie opens up the door and starts to move the little girl out
"Wait. Her jugular" I take out my stethoscope "Muffled heart sounds.It's Becks triad" I give Leslie a worried look as she picks Madeline up
"Come on, sweetie" Leslie puts Madeline in the back of the ambo. I jump in with her while Leslie shuts the doors and speeds towards Med.
Thankfully we get her to the hospital in time.
"Was the little girl ok?" Ella asks
"Yes luckily she was"
"My momma and daddy are superhero's" this makes me chuckle. I glance at her in the mirror, she's sat in her car seat swinging her feet with a huge smile on her face. I pull up the the fire house when Ella asks "will grandpa be here?"
"Yes angel he will" I reply turning the car off and jumping out. I open up the car door and help her out of her seat
"And daddy?"
"Yes and daddy and uncle Kelly"
"Daddy and uncle Kelly don't like each other any more. Why?" Ella asks taking my hand in hers as we walk past the trucks
"They do like each other, it's just their jobs make it a little harder to be friends. Remember Kelly was my best friend before I met daddy"
"And uncle Andy" she stops and points to a picture we now have up of him. I lift her up into my arms
"Yes and uncle Andy"
"I miss him momma"
"I know, so do I. And. So does uncle Kelly and daddy. Which is why they are having a little argument now" I place a kiss on her forehead when I hear a familiar voice
"YN you best hurry up, Casey's cooking" Severide says smiling with hands on his hips
"Uncle Kelly!" Ella practically jumps out of my arms and into her godfathers arms
"You hungry little one?"
"Yes! Momma can we have some food?"
"Yes angle. Course we can" I follow behind Severide and see Matt behind the kitchen counters. Dad, also known as chief Boden gets up from the table and walks over to me giving me a hug "hi dad"
"I'll bring a plate over for you and one for Ella" Matt says to me grabbing 3 plates. Severide places Ella down and she runs holding my dads hands to sit next to him. I then watch the awkward interaction between Severide and my husband. Not only is Matt blaming himself for Andy's death, but so is my best friend. I look over at my dad for some guidance, but he just sighs and gives me a small smile
"I bet uncle Andy would have wanted us to all be friends" the room falls silent. Trust the child to make everyone uncomfortable. I watch as Severide takes an orange and walk out of the room "momma did I upset uncle Kelly"
"No angel. He'll be ok"
Later that evening were called out during the night to a building fire. Matt and Herrmann both are knocked out during their search but thankfully Kelly manages to get them both out with the help of the others. So the rest of our shift was spent in the emergency room waiting to hear how Herrmann is doing since he was worse off.
Matt surprizing his wife with a puppy 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Pairing: Matt Casey x Wife!Reader
Word Count: 340
Warnings: none
A/N: Sorry for taking so long just to give you this drabble LOL.
MATT CASEY MASTERLIST
“Y/N?” You heard Matt’s voice travel into the house shortly after the sound of the door opening.
You smiled to yourself, glancing up at the clock. Matt was a little late but you’d timed dinner just about right, as the oven dinged.
“Kitchen!” You answered, turning towards the oven to take the roast out, just listening quietly to the familiar sounds of your husband putting down his bags and settling back home after a long shift. Until there was an unfamiliar sound - it sounded like a little patter.
You glanced around but Matt wasn’t looking at you, so you headed out around the counter to check out what was going on.
“Matt? Is everything…” You paused mid-sentence as the puppy he’d been looking at shot towards you, its tail wagging furiously as it fought for your attention now.
Your eyes lit up, as Matt smiled and you glanced back up at him. “Matt. I thought you said…”
You’d had this conversation with Matt not a few months ago, about adding a little furry kid to the house but between the shifts both of you had at each of your jobs, Matt hadn’t seemed to be too keen on it. So you’d dropped it.
But now here you were, standing in the middle of the apartment, a little golden colored puppy jumping at your legs as you smiled, and Matt looking back at you, echoing your smile.
Matt shrugged. “I know this family and they were leaving Chicago and couldn’t take him with them. So I thought…”
You smiled, picking the puppy up with one hand and pulling it close to your chest.
“You thought right.” You answered, smiling, as the dog licked your chin affectionately.
Matt smiled, stepping towards you and pressing a kiss to your temple. “As long as you’re happy.” He whispered.
You smiled, turning back to glance at him. “Matt Casey and a puppy? What more could a girl want?” You answered cheekily, grinning as Matt leaned in closer now to press his lips onto yours.
The sound of the door opening, made Matt look up. Seeing his wife walk in the door. [Son’s name] was asleep. Cuddled into Matt’s side fast asleep. The fireplace was lit with fire. Giving them warmth as well as a blanket that was on them.
You walked closer to him, till you reached the back of the couch. Leaning down and kissing Matt.
You pulled away from him. Smiling at him.
“Hey,” You spoke softly.
“Hey, y/n,” He softly spoke.
“How is he?” You ask. Gently touching his forehead with the back of your hand. He was a bit warm.
You ran your fingers through [son’s name] hair gently. Worrying about him.
“He is doing okay, still throwing up,” Matt spoke. Looking at you. he could tell you looked tired.
“I got some new medicine for him,” You spoke.
Matt smiled at you. he shuffled over a bit, making space.
“Why don’t you cuddle with us,” Matt spoke. Giving you a pleading look.
“You don’t need anything to drink or eat?” You asked.
“No, I just want to cuddle with you and our son,” Matt spoke.
Making you smile. You took your bag off and put it on the floor.
Going around the couch. You went to Matt’s side. The one [son’s name] wasn’t hugging. Matt moved the blanket, so. You could sit beside him.
You snuggled into Matt’s side. Closing your eyes. Matt pressed a soft kiss on the top of your head, before resting his head on top of yours…
Request: Matt x reader : Matt’s wife ending up giving birth prematurely after an accident, he’s at the scene with the rest of 51 and delivers his own baby boy, wrapping him his firefighter jacket 🥺
Anon I literally haven’t stopped thinking about this. It was literally in my dream. Like vividly I kept seeing our favorite Captain Casey, so I hope you enjoy!
Just like any other day, Matt and Y/N woke up to the sound of an alarm clock. Both groaned at the rude awakening from a peaceful sleep. Well peaceful for Matt anyway. Y/N was 35 weeks pregnant and couldn’t sleep well most nights. “Was that my alarm or yours?” You ask as you feel the bed move with Matt’s shifting. “Mine. You go back to sleep, hun.” “Can’t. Mini Matt has said no to that. Dad is up, so I’m up.” You say as you bring his hand to the swell of your belly, where you both feel your son move. He leans over and gives you a peck on the lips before getting out of bed.
“You know he can’t be Mini Matt forever, right? We need to pick out a name soon.” “I know, I know. I was thinking of Dallin for a first name. And maybe Matthew as a middle name.” You reply, slowly getting up and walking to the dresser, wrapping your arms around your husband, your head resting between his shoulder blades. “I like the sound of that. Dallin Matthew Casey.” He replies, turning around to face you. “Dallin Matthew, it is then!” You say, a smile on your face. “As nice as this is, one of us does have to go to work.” Matt laughs as you pout, not wanting to leave his warm embrace. He holds you for another minute before getting ready for the day.
You said goodbye to your husband as he left for 51. You mentioned that you would be over to visit, and Matt couldn't help smiling at you. The house loved you, and you loved them right back. “Whelp, little man. It's you and me for the next 24 hours. How bout we see dad later today and then run some errands?” You say quietly, running a hand over your belly, feeling a sharp kick in response from your son.
At the firehouse, it's business as usual. Calls, drills, reports. Matt heard a commotion from his office in the common area and investigated. The sight he saw warmed his heart. You, Mouch, and Hermann were sitting on the couch going over some last-minute adjustments to the nursery that they said they would come over and do after shift. “Hi, love!” you exclaim, seeing him walk over to you. “Hi. Why don't you come to my office.” He whispers into your ear, helping you up from the couch. You wave goodbye to Mouch and Hermann, linking hands with Matt as he leads you to his quarters.
You reach the door to his quarters when a sharp pain runs down your body, making you gasp. “Y/N everything alright?” Matt asks, concern lacing his features. “Yeah, I’m good. We’re good. Just Braxton-Hicks like last week.” “Ok, well, I don’t want you standing more than you have to, so come on and sit down. We don’t have to talk or anything. I want to make sure everything is good.” Matt replies as you sit on the edge of the bed in the small room.
After spending some time at the firehouse catching up with your friends, you decided to head to the store to pick up some groceries and stuff for the baby. You were making a left-hand turn, and the next thing you know, you felt something hit you. It took you a moment to realize what happened, but then it came to you that you were in a crash. You were hit on the driver's side, and you couldn’t move. You felt pain in your abdomen, more intense than what you felt earlier, and you knew something was wrong.
The bells rang out in the firehouse, and everyone jumped into action, not knowing what the damage was. “Captain, are you ok?” “Yeah yeah, I’m fine.” Matt lied as he knew this was the route you took from the firehouse to home, and the store was in between. He didn’t want it to be you. He couldn’t lose you and Dallin. It would kill him.
They arrive on the scene, and everyone’s hearts sink. They see your car, driver's side crumbled. Matt jumps out of the truck and sprints to the vehicle assessing the situation, trying to keep calm and not freak out. “Gallo! Get the jaws! It’s Y/N. She’s not moving!” He yells as the young truck member grabs the equipment and the rest of the team helps to get everyone out. “Y/N, sweetheart. Can you hear me?” “Yeah, I can hear you. Somethings wrong. I think the baby’s coming.” You reply, tears in your eyes, as pain rolls through you again, as Matt watches helplessly. “Alright, we’re gonna get you out as quick as we can.” “Hurry. Please. I’m scared.” “I know. We’re doing what we can as fast as we can.” He replies, his hand on the window, trying to mask the fear on his face.
Gallo arrived with the Jaws and got to work. “Casey, do we need the saw?” Cruz asks, running forward. “Not sure. But grab it just in case.” He says as he watches the team try to get you out. “Y/N, we’ll need to get the saw to get you out the rest of the way. I will put my jacket over you, and Sylvie will be here, ensuring you don’t have any serious injuries.” Stella says as you grab her hand and Sylvie’s as the jacket is draped over you, so debris doesn’t fall on you. Matt watches as Severide and Cruz remove the car's roof and as Stella and Hermann extract you from the car and onto the stretcher.
“Matt! We need you!” Foster yells as she helps you sit up. He runs over and wants to cry when he sees the pain you’re in. “Hey, hey, baby. You’re ok. Dallin is ok. I’m here. You’re safe.” He whispers as you hold onto him, shaking from fear and pain. “My water broke after I got hit before you guys came. Dallin is for real coming.” You say, pulling away as you search Matt’s face. You see shock and fear, and you grip his hand as a contraction takes over. You both scan Sylvie and Foster's faces and realize you aren’t going to make it to Med in time.
“Kelly, get over here! And bring Stella!” He yells to his friends as you squeeze his hand harder than he thought you could. “What’s going on?” “Baby’s on the way, and there’s no way we can make it to Med,” Sylvie says, watching you and Matt. “What do you need us to do?” “Be with them. Be their support. That’s what you can do.” She says as the three walk over. “Hey, so Brett gave us the rundown. We’re here for you and only you. Foster is letting Boden know.” Severide says as you reach for his hand. “Son of a bitch, this hurts.” You say as you feel your son move down. “Ok, he moved down. Shit.” You groan in pain, and Stella gets onto the stretcher with you, helping you sit up a little more.
“Y/N, how you doing, sweetie?” Sylvie asks, walking over. “Well, everything hurts like a bitch, and I feel like I need to push,” you reply, fear lacing your voice, gripping your husband's hand and Severide’s for dear life, your contractions getting more intense each time.
“Hey, babe, look at me. Look only at me.” Matt says as Sylvie lifts your dress, covering you with a blanket, checking you quickly. “Matt. I can’t do this.” You cry, tears running down your cheeks. You feel Kelly press a kiss to your temple, and Stella rubs your arm, trying to comfort you. “Y/N, Matt. I can feel the head. It’s go time.” Sylvie says, giving you and your husband a soft smile. “Next contraction, I need you to push, ok?” “Ok. I think I can do that.” You reply with a laugh, reality sets in, locking eyes with Matt as he smiles at you.
You feel a wave of pain roll over, bring your chin to your chest and start pushing. You gasp at the intensity of everything and feel Matt’s hand rest on your knee, helping to ground you. “You’re doing great. There you go!” “God, this hurts. I’m not doing this again anytime soon.” You pant, taking a break, as you grab Matt’s free hand with yours. “That’s ok. I don’t mind. Let’s just focus on you bringing our son into the world.” He says as he tightens the grip on your hand as you start pushing again. You can feel your baby move forward and back for several minutes, and you hate it.
You lay your head back onto Stella in exhaustion. “I can’t do this anymore.” “Yes, you can, Y/N. Look at me.” Kelly says, gently turning your head towards him. “You deal with Matt Casey and the rest of the house daily. You can birth a baby.” He says with a grin, making you snort. “Excuse me! I’m right here.” “We know.” You and Kelly laugh while Matt shakes his head. “Y/N. I can see hair. This next contraction, I want you to give me the biggest push you can, ok?” Sylvie asks as she moves your legs apart some more. You give her a nod and wait for the pain again.
You feel the most intense pain and push as hard as possible, and you feel burning. You moan as you feel his head come out. “His heads out!” Matt exclaims, rubbing your knees. “I thought it was a foot.” You quip back, panting, and Matt guides your hand to your baby's head, and you feel the fuzzy hair and start crying. “Ok, now we have to do little pushes. This part will suck, but once we get his shoulders out, it’s smooth sailing.” Foster says as she takes over for Sylvie, who runs to the back of the ambo for supplies to clean the baby once he is out.
“Little pushes? Oh, hell.” You reply, giving her a look. She just nods and prompts you to push little by little. Stella lifts you, and Kelly rubs a thumb over the top of your hand, whispering encouragements in your ear. You can feel his shoulders come out, and he starts to turn. You feel as Matt’s hand leaves yours and your knee and can’t help but watch as he takes his turnout coat off, his white polo clean as can be. “Matt. What’re you doing?” You ask, voice quivering, wondering what the hell had gotten into your husband's brain. “Grabbing our son. I can see he’s almost here.” He replies as he places the coat on the stretcher.
You groan as you give a final push and feel your baby finally slide out. You lay your head down in exhaustion and feel tears run down your cheeks as you hear him cry. Kelly kisses you on the top of your head, and Stella does the same before they head to the ambo giving you guys a moment together. You look at Matt, who’s wrapped him in his turnout coat, walking to you, tears in his eyes. “You did it, baby. He’s here. Dallin is here.” He says softly, placing the bundle in your arms. “Yeah, he is. Our Dallin Matthew Casey is finally here.” You say, running a finger down the newborn's nose, lifting your head to kiss your husband.
You stay like that for a while until Sylvie and Foster come over with a clean blanket for you and a smaller one for your newborn. They gently lift him out of Matt’s coat and wipe him off and swaddle him. Sylvie gently makes sure you’re clean and ok and makes sure the blanket covers you. You don’t realize Boden had walked over until he speaks. “Congratulations, you two. I’ve gone ahead and called Med to let them know of the situation and that you were on the way. And before you ask, the other driver has been arrested for drunk driving. Not a scratch on him.” He says, voice gruff. Matt gives his chief a look having a conversation with their eyes. He receives a nod of confirmation and helps to make sure you and your son are in the ambo safely.
You arrive at Med and are taken to a recovery room while Dallin is taken to the NICU to be assessed. You can’t help but worry that your baby is ok. You know he’s early but wasn’t sure how it would affect him. “He’s going to be ok. I know he is.” Matt says, holding your hand, moving his thumb across the top of your hand. “Matt, he was early. Five weeks early. What if something isn’t developed all the way?” “Y/N. Brett and Foster would’ve noticed and mentioned it in the field. Trust me. I overheard the nurses, and they’ll be bringing him back in about 30 minutes.” He replies, giving your hand a light squeeze. You squeeze his hand back, letting him know you trust him.
After a while, the nurses return with the newborn, letting you and Matt know that everything looked normal and that he was the cutest patient. The two of you look at him fondly, his little body bundled up in a blanket from the hospital and a little hat on his head.
“Do you have a name for him? So we can write it on his bassinet card?” “Dallin Matthew Casey.” You respond to the nurse as a second nurse places him in your arms. “Just so we know, how are you wanting to feed him?” “Bottle. Definitely bottle. I can pump, but the thought of trying to get him to latch doesn’t feel right for me.” “Alright, we can work with that. I’ll get one ready for him with what we have, and we can go over the next steps in a while.” The nurse replied cheerfully before the pair left the room.
The small family is left alone until a knock on the door removes them from their thoughts. They see their family from the station and beckon them in. They quietly enter, and Y/N notices that Hermann and Mouch have paint on their clothes and tears in their eyes. “We made something for him. Last minute at the station after we got back.” Hermann says, voice breaking, as Mouch opens a small package and brings out a miniature wooden horse painted in a soft blue with everyone’s names written on it. You try to speak but burst into tears as Matt carefully takes your son from your arms, rocking him gently.
You eventually stop crying and wipe your tears away. “That’s so sweet. You didn’t have to do that.” “Yeah, he’s family, and family’s there for each other,” Hermann replies. “Plus, we’re going to head over to the house and get that ready for the three of you.” Ritter pipes up, earning the stink eye from Mouch. “Ritter. That was supposed to be a surprise!” Mouch says in exasperation. You and Matt both laugh, feeling the love from your friends.
Eventually, Foster asks his name since she realizes it’s never been mentioned, and Matt says it with pride. Dallin is held by his honorary aunts and uncles and only makes a sound when he needs to be fed. Y/N gives him his bottle and holds him for a moment.
“Hi, sweet boy. I’m your mom. You sure gave us a surprise today. But your dad and I are so glad you’re here. So are all those crazy people who just held you. Those are your aunts and uncles, and they might love you more than they love dad and me. Based on your surprise today, I feel we’re in for more over the years, but not anytime soon, ok? Mama needs to breathe from the first one.” You whisper to him as he stares at you with his dad's bright blue eyes.
You feel your husband staring and call him out on it. “Quit being a creep staring at a woman and her baby.” You grin at him as he sits on the bed next to you. “Mmm, I wouldn’t say I’m being a creep. Just falling in love with you more and more.” He replies, kissing you and placing a hand on Dallin’s head. “And seeing you today made me fall in love even more. I’m grateful for you, and I know Dallin is too.” You reply, leaning into him as he wraps an arm around you. You stayed like this for hours, not a care in the world. It’s just you, and your family, and that’s all that matters.
Matt Casey
Y/n is Matt Casey’s wife like she have been for the past four years, and they have a baby girl together.
Casey wakes up early in the morning, and he is feeling sick. So Casey call Boden and tells him that he can’t come to work for a new shift because he is sick.
So Casey stays home with a fever, and his wife decides that she will also stay home just to take care of her husband.
The rest will I let you decide!
Nurse Casey- Matt Casey
Authors note: sorry this took so long! I honestly have had such a hard time writing anything recent with the stress of the holidays and dealing with personal sickness. I’m sorry if this isn’t my best work, but I hope you enjoy it!
Warnings: shouldn’t be any! Just pure fluff!
Mentions: Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton
~~~~~~~~~~~
You shot up in bed as the mattress violently shook next to you. You quickly glanced at the clock on the dresser opposite of the bed. The red numbers read 5 am. Your first thought was an earth quake in your sleep muddled brain, but in reality it was your husband.
“Matt.” You whispered, leaning over and placing a hand on his back as you sat up behind him. You could immediately feel the heat radiating off of him.
Matt groaned, still hunched over with his head in his hands. “Something’s wrong.” He slurred, reaching a hand back for you.
You grabbed his hand, sliding up to his back and pulling him into your chest. He was a little taller than you, but his fever ridden body easily melted into your own. “Shhh. Your running a fever.” You cooed, immediately trying to comfort your clearly uncomfortable husband.
Matt never gets sick. A sniffle or cough here and there is the extent of any sickness for Matt, so this had to be bad. Normally the roles were reversed since you have the crappy immune system and your constantly exposed to stuff on the ambo , but now it’s your turn to take care of your husband.
“What’s going on?” You whisper, brushing his sweat soaked hair back to get a good look into his eyes. His whole body is wracked with chills, practically shaking the whole bed.
“M’ head and my stomach are killin me.” Matt moaned, curling into himself as best he can.
You nod, rubbing his back in slow circles. “Alright. I’ve gotcha. Let me go check on Clary and get some stuff. You think your gonna be sick?” You asked, mentally preparing yourself for the worst.
Matt stilled and then shrugged. “Not now.” He whispered. “Everything just hurts. I’m so tired.” He whimpered, looking up at you with tears in his eyes.
You hummed in sympathy, slowly laying Matt back down so that you could get up. “Call Boden. There is no way you are going in and neither am I. I can’t leave you like this.” You instruct, handing Matt his phone.
Matt nods and dials the number as you walk out. You quickly check on your baby, satisfied that Clary seems to be sleeping soundly. You quickly dial Hailey as you grab some supplies from the master bathroom.
“Upton.” Hailey answers groggily, not even bothering to check the caller ID.
“Hails. I’m so sorry to wake you. I need a huge favor.” You start, praying that her and Jay are at her apartment a few floors up.
“What’s up Y/n?” Hailey asks. You can hear Jay asking what’s wrong and shuffling on the other end.
“Matt is really sick. I know it’s like 5 am, but could you guys take Clary today?” You ask, pacing the bathroom after you have everything set on the counter.
“Of course. Is she awake now?” Hailey asks.
“No. She normally wakes up around this time though. Can I bring her up and her stuff? I’ll warm a bottle.” You offer, desperate to get everything situated so that you can focus on Matt and hopefully keep whatever this is away from your daughter.
“We will come to you. Just get everything ready, okay?” Hailey says, sensing your distress.
“Thank you so much.” You breathe, hanging up and getting all the supplies. You quickly walk into the bedroom and place everything onto the bed before grabbing the trash can and moving it closer to Matt’s side of the bed. “Hey babe. Jay and Hailey are gonna come down and get Clary.” You inform your husband, quickly taking the ear thermometer and placing it in his ear. “Your almost at 103. I’m gonna go get Clary’s stuff ready and get you some Gatorade. Just relax. I’ll be back.” You say, quickly kissing Matt on the forehead as he nods slightly to show his understanding. You lay the cool cloth you grabbed across his forehead before exiting the bedroom.
You run around, quickly opening the door as Jay gently knocks. You usher him in, hugging him as soon as the door closes.
“Breathe. Matt will be fine and I will take Clary. I told Hailey to get the pack and play ready so that she can go back down.” Jay soothes, holding you to his chest in the entryway.
You and Jay have been best friends for most of your life. Him dating Hailey and Hailey living in your building was the best thing that ever happened to your small little friend group. You and Jay have always been tight knit, so he knew exactly what was going through your head.
“I know. I know. I’ve just never seen him this sick.” You whisper, pulling back and wiping at the tears that have come to your eyes. You’re stressed and Jay can tell.
“Well, let me go get my niece. You got her bag and bottle ready?” Jay asks, smiling as he turns to walk toward Clary’s nursery.
“Yeah.” You breathe, grabbing the requested items as Jay grabs your baby. You meet back at the entryway, handing the bag to Jay and tucking the bottle into the pocket. Somehow Jay has managed to pick up your daughter without waking her. Apparently small miracles do exist. You kiss Clary on the forehead before opening the door. “Thank you so much. You guys are life savers.” You whisper.
Jay turns, sending you a small smile and a wink. “I’d take my best girl any day.” Jay replies. “Tell Matt I hope he feels better.” Jay adds before turning on his heels and heading into the elevator.
You smile and nod before closing the door. You sigh as you scrub a hand down your face. Now that your daughter was taken care of, you could solely focus on Matt. You run back into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water, a Gatorade, and a ginger ale before slipping back into your room. Matt has his arms thrown over his face as he lays naked, save for his boxers, atop the covers.
“Hey baby.” You whisper, placing the drinks down on the nightstand, careful not to spill the glass of water that lays barely touched next to the lamp. “Jay has Clary now. Told me to tell you to feel better soon.” You murmur, lightly rubbing his arm.
“I hope I do.” He groans, taking one arm off his face to grab onto you. “I really don’t feel good.”
You sigh, holding his arm to your body. “I know sweetheart. Think you could stomach some fever reducers?” You hum, lightly rubbing a hand through his hair.
Matt grunts, peaking at you from under his slightly raised arm. “Took some while you were out since you left it all here. It’s not settling well.” Matt confesses, dropping his arm back over his eyes.
You hum in sympathy, lowering your hand to lightly rub his stomach. “Just try to relax. Boden good with everything?” You asked, trying to distract him.
Matt gives a thumbs up. “Said to call if we need anything.”
You nod, though you know he can’t see you. “Well, Clary is taken care of, and I think I can take care of you just fine, so hopefully we will be alright. Just gotta get this fever down I think.” You muse, smiling sadly at Matt’s grunt of agreement. “Let me turn the AC down a tad and I’ll come lay with you. We can watch a movie if you’d like.” You offer, wanting to do anything you can to distract your husband. You can see the discomfort in his body, which is ram-rod straight on the bed. He doesn’t even bother to try and curl in on himself anymore in fear of putting too much pressure on his turning stomach.
“Okay.” Matt murmurs, not really caring what you both do to try and pass the time as he attempts to keep the fever reducers and last nights dinner where it belongs.
You frown slightly as you slowly stand, careful not to jostle the bed. You quickly turn the AC down to 68 before going back to your husband and slipping into bed. You allow Matt to adjust himself into a semi comfortable position as you scroll through your queue.
Matt lays his head on your chest, curled slightly on his left side with a leg thrown over your own. He secured an arm around your waist after placing the now warm cloth onto the back of his neck. You can feel the heat radiating off of his head through the thin fabric of your shirt, but you could care less about any discomfort you could be feeling right now. Once you pick a movie, which is one of Matt’s favorites, you settle in and rub his back, lightly scratching it as you move your hand up and down. You know this relaxes him more than anything and you smile slightly as he lets out a tiny snore barely 10 minutes into the movie.
