i used to be a Ravenclaw and recently discovered (after healing from some things) i’m a Gryffindor!

i thought this test was the perfect thing to test my theory on (bc FUCK jk rowling and pottermore)

i got gryffindor and then re-took the test how my younger self would have answered, and got ravenclaw. i bolded the part of the ravenclaw description that made me make this post bc it was just so on the nose to my situation

Gryffindor - my result

Gryffindors believe in innate worth, innate characteristics, sort of your personality is that way because That Is Who You Are. Similar to hufflepuffs in this way, anti-slytherin experience haha. Gryffindors, unlike Hufflepuffs, are an external versus internal change maker. Because of this, they are often more broadly idealistic than hufflepuffs (think range, although they both hold their core values very deeply, hufflepuffs are on a smaller more condensed scale whereas gryffs will spread themselves thinner. Puffs do not have to change the world, rather they create a Home in which to put their world into, whereas a lot of Gryffindors struggle with feeling that they aren’t doing Enough, not Enough good, not Enough love. That the failures of the world are in part because they haven’t done enough to help personally). Gryffindors are very solid with their identity. While slytherins/ravenclaws will see their body/their reflection in a mirror, a scientific fact of life or something they wish they could/can change and shape, Gryffindors (with some exceptions for gender, trauma, and mental illness) tend to be confused that there are answers other than “I see myself in the mirror.” However, Gryffs can be performative, because while they see themselves, they need to be told that they are going in the right direction, they need to be loved, they need to help. Gryffindors will lose themselves a bit in an empty room, in isolation, moreso than hufflepuffs or ravenclaws. They create and change the world around them FOR the world around them, and so the world can look at them and say “okay, you did it, its okay now.” In this way, they are closest to slytherins, seeking validation, seeking a legacy, even though they may not even do it/realize its for themselves. They do good, or they try to, based on how they have defined it for themselves. They will care for you with all of them, if you earn it. They will hold you. But the voice in their head says “am I sure that this is what good looks like. Am I sure that this is enough.” From your friendly neighborhood Hufflepuff, sometimes doing what you need to take care and save yourself is the best thing for the world. Maybe cook something, have a lil dance party. You are an important part of the world. Start small, and love that part the most. You can add on from there c:

Ravenclaw - result when taking quiz as my younger self

Ravenclaws shape the world around them, and create, in order to create a world that better suits themselves and their goals, rather than Slytherins who shape and create/recreate themselves to suit the world, meaning they are an external house, creating and impacting in the world around them rather than in themselves. Unlike Gryffindors, the other external house, Ravenclaws do not feel as much pressure to be seen in a sort of grand legacy or entirely shape the world around them. They give and seek knowledge and creation because, in a very basic sense, they feel like they need to. In a way I’ve said it “I could not write poetry for 30 years and that wouldn’t mean I’m not a poet. I am a poet. That does not change.” But Ravenclaws will get restless if they don’t create if they don’t learn. Their legacy doesn’t mean that the whole world will remember them forever. Its that they will create/make/do something that will matter to even one person enough that they will be remembered. A lot of Ravenclaws feel tied to their Ravenclaw identity because they don’t quite know who they’d be if they weren’t the ‘intelligent one’ if you will. But Ravenclaws sometimes forget that they create beauty every day, learn things new and small every day, without even meaning to. Ravenclaws believe identity is created/forged/remade constantly as information is gathered, and often try to seem neutral, scared of sharing an opinion unless they’ve thought it through completely and are certain they should stand by it. Ravenclaws are often searching, looking for something bigger than them, as almost to prove they are small in comparison. Sometimes the best thing a Ravenclaw can do is realize that all those wonderful books and poems and pieces of art that make you dream of a fantasy world were made in this world. This place, so full of love, that gave them to you in order for you to love it back. A lot of ‘gifted kids’ put themselves in Ravenclaw, without realizing that it was the rest of the world that put them in Ravenclaw, and not something that they chose. If that’s the case, maybe now is the time to ask yourself who is it you want to be? The self is a construct loves, and a uquiz doesn’t define you. You define you. You’re so good at creating Ravenclaw friends. Create you. You’re already magnificent. You’re already worth it. Now its time to look at yourself and give some love to that self, to ask it what it wants to be. You are, more than anything else, your greatest masterpiece.

JUST FOR YOU ANON, I am going to compile the sort of Final Breakdown of every house, in my opinion, that you get at the end of the quiz now. Theres more in-depth analysis of specific questions under each house’s tag on my blog, and you can feel free to ask more specifics of course bUT here is the masterpost of that c:

A Hufflepuff is, unlike a Ravenclaw or a Gryffindor, an internal house. I know what you must be thinking, “how can you be the house of loyalty if you’re an internal house?” Puffs have a small network, Their People, maybe friends, maybe family, maybe friends who are family, maybe an assortment of small pets or animated characters. While Slytherins also have Their People, they have resources and associates to draw from when their bored, whereas the term associates exhausts a Hufflepuff. Spending time with people they don’t love doesn’t ever sit quite right, although they will often do it in an attempt to make folks happy. Hufflepuffs yes, are a house of kindness and of love, but unlike Gryffindors when it comes down to it they don’t have to go out of their way for kindness and love. Gryffindors will seek out situations in which they can do good. Hufflepuffs good is smaller (not lesser) in which they will do as much good as they can for the people directly in their line of sight, but when granted with the great expanse of the world it is easy for them to shrink in on themselves and not be able to cope. That said, they have so much love to give out, and will often want all their love in one place, slightly selfish but mostly excited collectors of people. If your version of the ideal future is a vague image of all the people you love in your house for [insert holiday] that is a very Hufflepuff sentiment. Hufflepuffs, like Gryffindors, are inherent/intrinsic worth folks. Hufflepuffs know who they are, or at least how they define themselves. Their moral code may not be their local government’s law (and actually very often isn’t), but it does exist and is rigid, and puffs won’t go against it unless incredibly pressed. This is a point of contention with Slytherins and Ravenclaws, and even Gryffindors who feel like they have to perform/validate their identity and choices through others. Hufflepuffs are themselves, and no one else, completely and quietly. They love their People. They want to build a home for them. That isn’t to say that puffs are necessarily gentle pushovers. A huge component of Punk and Anti-fascists align themselves with Puffs because they are So themselves and So invested in the safety and well-being of their people and community. Like slytherins, hufflepuffs often know/feel they’re weird, and tend to relish in finding people as absurd and lovely as they are. They will forgive people, possibly too much. But quietly, they will shift the little orbit of the world around themselves to be a little kinder, a little gentler, for them and the people they love. Be kind to yourself. You do not have to be any bigger than you are.

Slytherins are linked to identity, changing themselves to meet their needs and the wants of the world around them. They have specific people that are Theirs, and their circle of Actual Trust may be rather small, even if their friend/associates/resources group is a wide network. Slytherins are tied to wanting, craving, and not necessarily in a bad way or in a way that’s “ambition”. Slytherins are a house made up of people who want something or someone or some goal desperately or are made up of a myriad of little wants, but also struggle with the idea of worth and whether or not they have done enough to deserve the things they want. Sometimes, these wants are secret. Slytherins are often caught up in this wanting and this worth, and cannot see that they are already loved, completely and wholly, for who they are. When you care for someone you care for them with all of you, you are inherently a protective house like hufflepuffs for those that you care about most, and for all your wanting so so so many of you are beautiful creators (the worlds and story ideas slytherins have just roaming around in their brains?? amazing!). My advice to slytherins, if I can give some without being asked hahaha oops, is to recognize that for all the shapeshifting of the self you do, you can be exactly who you want to be, if you just give yourself permission. Who would you be in a dark room without any mirrors? How would you dance? How would you dress, for just yourself? Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to change your life tomorrow. It just means, sometimes, starting in little ways, take back a little bit of ground from the world. “This part is me. This part is mine. You aren’t allowed to have it.” It can be quiet. But you are worth so much, and you are yours. You are just as much of a person as anyone else, and have already earned love, because you never had to earn it in the first place.

2021 was like a breakthrough year for me as a writer, when I finally decided that in order to refer to myself as a writer, I needed to write! I’ve been blessedly welcomed into two beautiful fandom communities this year, Irondad and Severitus, and it all makes me so happy 💛 I posted 17 fics on Ao3 last year which is kinda crazy to me and it was a little difficult to narrow them down, but here we go! I’m bad at tumblr so I’ll just link all works at the bottom of this post 👇

1. Scissors

this is hands down my favorite work of mine, because it comes from a very personal place for me. I think that the main reason it’s so dear to me though is because of the tremendous amount of support that community has shown me, like just the outpouring of love towards my personal story and then the people in the comments sharing their own stories and struggles with mental health… it’s a fic I was very nervous about posting because of what people might think and in turn I feel like it’s become such a safe place to discuss the sort of things that the story is focused on and it just really means a lot to me that strangers on the internet are not only willing to be so kind to me but also brave enough to share their journey as well.

2. Illicit Affairs

this is kind of a dark story presented in such a light tone lmao I was super excited when I first started writing this and boy it flopped so hard, for like five solid chapters I didn’t think that anyone was reading it and I felt so discouraged but at the same time, you gotta write for yourself, right? I figured that this was a story that I wanted to read so I’d better write it. About midway through writing the original ten chapter layout one idea crossed my mind and pretty much changed everything, and so it took me awhile to finish but I’m so proud of it and the response it’s received now is mindblowing to me and while I was so relieved to finally finish that final chapter, I just couldn’t seem to let go of my innocent Hufflepuff Harry so I’m continuing the story as a series with one-shots, one of which is already posted and there’s a couple more in my docs just waiting to be polished up.

3. Itsy Bitsy Spider

only Irondad fic listed here? Okay… yeah XD there’s like four other ones that I posted this year are okay, but I feel like this one is a lot better. I was so excited to hop on the Friendly Neighborhood Gift Exchange, but I also had no idea what to write and was so nervous as to what my giftee would request… luckily @asyouleft said that they were cool with anything and so that somehow ended up here XD I had been reading a lot of Homeless Peter fics and identity reveals are always cool, and I thought I could have something like that occur around Christmas and while it’s barely mentioned in the fic, it does happen 😂 I almost didn’t do the whole repetitive “there was a spider” thing at the beginning of each scene but I mean… there was a spider XD

4. Calamity

gahh… I look back on this fic and see nothing but a contingency mess, but it’s one of my most popular fics and I guess I have to appreciate it for being the first real fic I’ve written. I mean I’ve been writing fic for several years but it was very, very bad and I didn’t really even seem to realize it which is the sad part 😂 I started when I was thirteen tho so let’s just say this was my first fic as an adult. Uh, anyway, I start to feel self conscious about my work after about six months (or hours but like whatever) so I haven’t actually looked over it in quite awhile, but I guess it’s what kickstarted me into really writing fic so yayyy!

5. The Boy Who Swung

this is a chaotic mess and I’ve never had more fun writing anything. I always like to incorporate humor into my stories bc that’s my coping mechanism or whatever but I never imagined that I would write a full on crack, or a crossover fic, but here we are. the best works to me are the ones that teach you how to write more and/or differently, and I feel like this one taught me that I don’t have to try quite so hard in order to achieve my writing goals because it didn’t take me long to write and it was perhaps the first time I really actually enjoyed writing something lmao

“I’m sorry I dragged you into this,” You said softly. “I really can get there myself.” When he glanced at you, he found your glossy eyes were still on him, and for a second, he wanted to tell you to watch where you were walking. The unsteadiness of each step you took made him uneasy, but you hadn’t fallen yet. Not completely, at least.

“I already told you,” He said, trying to sound kind as opposed to annoyed. “You’re wasted. There’s no way I’m letting you go on the subway by yourself.” Without warning you, he began to cross the street with you jogging to catch up to him.

“I promise I’ll try to be quick at the house,” You told him, panting slightly. With his long legs and you current slowed down body, it was easy for Bucky to be a few strides ahead of you. “Just grab my stuff and get out. You won’t even have to come inside.” At this, he let out a laugh.

“Are you kidding? Of course I have to come inside.” He didn’t realize he was still laughing until his words came out slightly staggered. “I have to go through Quill’s medicine cabinet to prove he takes those dick enlargement pills that are advertised on porn sites. Steve and I have a bet going.” The sound of your footsteps behind him slowed down. When Bucky couldn’t hear them at all, he turned around to find you about five yards behind.

“There it is.” It was so quiet in the distance that he almost didn’t hear it.

“There what is?” He grew even more confused when you laughed slightly, looking up at the sky as you began to walk again, your body swaying with every step.

“I’ve been asking myself for however long it’s been since we left the bar, you know, why we’re not closer? You’re being so kind to me and caring. Why haven’t we gotten along in the past?” You shook your head as you pointed at him. “And I’ve thought that a lot before when we’ve hung out with the group. But then, almost on cue, you dump on whatever guy I’m dating at the time and I remember when you say shit like that, it’s literally the reason we can’t be friends.”

You walk into the District and wave at Trudy who buzzes you up. You notice how quiet it is when you walk up the stairs to Intelligence, only Kevin acknowledging you with a head nod as you enter the bull pen. You get Kim’s attention and mouth “Where’s Voight?” She jabs her thumb towards his office, and you walk towards the closed door, and open it not bothering with manners.

“Y/N Halstead. What brings you here?” He asks, leaning back in his chair. “You. You fucking coward.” You say, seething, as you fold your arms, staring at the man.

“Coward? I’m the coward?” “Yeah. You are. You told the love of my brothers life that he wasn’t fighting for her anymore, which isn’t true, and it’s caused her to fucking break.” “I didn’t…” Voight begins, rising.

NO! Shut up, sit down, and zip it.” You say, glaring, as he reluctantly does as told. “You. You caused all this shit that you can’t see but everyone else can. Why do you think Jay left? Cause he’s not in love with Hailey? No. It’s cause he was turning into you and it scared the shit out of him. Why do you think everyone in that bullpen is dead silent right now and they didn’t stop me from barging in here? Cause they know you’ve gone too far.” You exclaim, taking a breath.

Voight goes to speak, but again you stop him. “What you’ve done is despicable. You’ve had every single member of this team, except Torres do some form of dirty work for you! Remember Roy? Yeah, Jay and Hailey handled that shit for you. Everything. Adam, Kim, Kevin, Antonio, Erin, Jin, HELL EVEN MOUSE HAS BEEN COVERING UP FOR YOU CAUSE YOU CAN’T GET YOURSELF TOGETHER.” You yell, and you stop to gauge his reaction.

He stares, and begins to speak. “You don’t think I know that? Cause I do. I’m well aware.” “Doesn’t matter cause you’re not changing a damn thing about how you work. It should be Jay sitting in that chair, lecturing me on shit. Not you. I shouldn’t be lecturing you. You should’ve left years ago.” You spat out, running a hand through your hair.

It’s silent, except for shuffling in the bull pen. You stare at the man in front of you, who remains still, anger in his eyes. You wait for him to start yelling, bracing yourself for the impact. He doesn’t do anything, only stares behind you. You glance behind and see Kevin, Torres, Kim, and Adam all staring at both you and Voight.

They seem to be daring him to speak, knowing that if he did and came after you, all hell would break loose. “Fuck you Voight. Fuck you.” You say, giving him the bird and walking out of his office and down the stairs.

Trudy stops you before you head out the door. “You did good kiddo. Proud of you.” “You heard that?” “Most of it. You can yell.” She says, grinning slightly.

“Shit.” You mutter. “It’s alright. No one down here is gonna say a word, cause they’ll have to deal with me. Now get back to Hailey and give her a hug for me, and tell Chuckles to get his ass back home.” She says, going back behind her desk. You give her a thumbs up and walk out the door, phone in hand, sending a text to your brother as you head to your car and start the drive home.

I’m one second away from taking my physiological psych exam and I decided to procrastinate by doing this but no way in HELL did I expect that.

“Gryffindors believe in innate worth, innate characteristics, sort of your personality is that way because That Is Who You Are. Similar to hufflepuffs in this way, anti-slytherin experience haha. Gryffindors, unlike Hufflepuffs, are an external versus internal change maker. Because of this, they are often more broadly idealistic than hufflepuffs (think range, although they both hold their core values very deeply, hufflepuffs are on a smaller more condensed scale whereas gryffs will spread themselves thinner. Puffs do not have to change the world, rather they create a Home in which to put their world into, whereas a lot of Gryffindors struggle with feeling that they aren’t doing Enough, not Enough good, not Enough love. That the failures of the world are in part because they haven’t done enough to help personally). Gryffindors are very solid with their identity. lincoln took to performing at a very young age. she started out by taking dance classes when she was young, and then she took on just about every performing opportunity she could. she began participating in local youth theatre, taking voice lessons, and taking any chance she could to get in front of a crowd, including small sets in coffee shops, the national anthem at little league games and singing on side stages at the county fair. it was at one of these small shows, performing simple covers by other artists, that lincoln got discovered.

from the minute she stepped foot in los angeles, lincoln’s entire career and persona was curated. a large staff of managers, stylists and producers dedicated to creating a pop star from a small town girl. the initial image they intended was one very near to the truth, a kindhearted small town girl plucked from obscurity and tossed into the exciting world of a big city. she released a small ep right out the gate, a little collection of happy go lucky pop songs, met with mixed reviews. the general consensus seemed to be that she didn’t look like she had much to offer, talent to spare, sure, but she lacked depth.

from that moment on, everything shifted. taking lincoln’s career in a new direction meant every moment was scripted, from heartfelt songs she didn’t write, to vulnerable revelations that weren’t her own. her career blew up by playing the best friend and confidante to her adoring fans, singing someone else’s songs about the pains of adjustment to the spotlight, and listening to fervent confessions from admirers after every show. the pressure felt like far too much while the guilt weighed constantly on her mind. the irony is, the bigger she gets, the more she relates to her own music, and the more muffled she feels. the performances are honest but the words are never her own, and giving someone else’s explanations for the songs only leaves her feeling more lost than ever, unable to process her emotions organically.

lincoln is a very friendly and kind gal and she loves to meet new people, but she's started to struggle with it more and more lately, worn down by her guilt and the fear that people won't like the real her, or will hate her for lying. she's just a sweet soft gal who deserves love.

also, side note, lincoln is gay! she's not out publicly at all and depending on timeline, she might not be out at all.

benji valenciano. ghost writer. a mess of a situation, lincoln and benji had hardly met before any chance at a friendship had been compromised by their record label. there’s a serious tension between them as a result of their less that favorable work situation, coupled with media pressure to make appearances together. still there’s almost a kind of kinship there as a result of the secret they share.

lilly fletcher. sister. lincoln’s sister and built in best friend. the only person she feels like she can be 100% herself around 100% of the time. only about a year apart in age, the two girls had always been close, but lincoln’s launch to fame as a teen only cemented their friendship. when lilly applied to universities she made a point of applying for schools in southern california so she and lincoln could move out west permanently together.

so 2019 is officially here and i for one am super grateful for that because last year was definitely a struggle. i had a hectic year in terms of job drama trying to be successful while realising i picked a tough career, my writing motivation dropped dramatically and i found myself feeling a little lost overall, not to mention a bunch of health issues that threw me off and caused me to pull back from a lot of things i loved. but despite all of that, i always feel welcome on here and that has been because of you all lovely people.

so i want to give a special shoutout to some people who helped keep me sane in 2018!

@chlobenet ally the angel of my life???? you are literally one of my closest friends and even if we don’t chat all the time i love our chats. you’ve always been so incredibly kind and you help motivate me when i’m stressing over stories or life in general (not to mention all the chats about our love lives woooo bless us). i know we had plans to meet up this year but life got busy for both of us which is fine because i know it will happen soon! you’re such a good human being and a literal piece of sunshine and i just hope 2019 brings you lots of happiness and creativity!

A lot to learn

Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago are good friends since they met the 1st September on the Hogwarts Express on their first year at Hogwarts. In spite of their friendship, they have always been rivals, and on their sixth year at Hogwarts everything begins to change for them, and for the squad, with a simple, and probably stupid bet.

Chapter I: The Start

Amy Santiago has always loved the 31st of August. As long as she remembers the last day of Augusts means books and quills and parchment, she doesn’t remember the first time she went to de Diagon Alley with her family, but she has perfectly kept in her memory the first time they went to buy her own school supplies, which actually only consisted of her wand and some parchment, as she already had several quills and her older brothers’ books at home.

Amy lets a sigh come out of her mouth as she seats down on one of the few free tables on the Leaky Cauldron, the most popular bar of the Diagon Alley, the link between the muggle and magical London, and also the place where she is supposed to meet the squad. But, as always, she is the first one to arrive.

Just as she orders a pumpkin juice she sees Jake and his mother entering the bar with Gina. She smiles at the sight of her friends and gets up to say hello. Gina sees her first and hugs her.

“I’ve missed you Gina!” Says Amy after letting go.

“Aw, I would miss me too.” She smiles. “But yes, I’ve missed you.”

Amy lets out a laugh and turns around, facing Jake, her best friend, although she would never say that in front of him or out loud.

“Santiago.” He calls her, a smirk in his face.

“Peralta.” She answers, with the same expression.

They share a short embrace, smiling at each other when they let go.

“Hello Amy.”

“Good morning Ms. Peralta. I mean, good afternoon, I’ve-I’ve already had lunch.” She smiles awkwardly, regretting talking and wanting to punch herself in the face.

“So did we, Amy. And I’ve told you many times you can call me Karen.”

The girl nods slightly looking anywhere but Karen’s face.

“I’ll let you all say goodbye. I’ll wait, at the table.” Amy points at their table as she turns.

The Peraltas and Gina watch her sit down and smile at the waitress when she gives her the pumpkin juice.

“She’s a shy girl, but charming.” Says Karen.

“Oh, she’s only shy around adults, believe me.” Answers Jake, looking at his mother.

“But she’s awkward all the time.”

“Gina!”

“What? Don’t scream at me Jake. I love Amy but her awkwardness is… you know… one of her charms.” She looks at Karen.

The woman smiles at her children. Not that Gina is her biological daughter, but she’s definitely her child.

“Give me a hug kids.” The three of them enclose their arms around each other. “I will miss you. Write. And be good. Go put your trunks in your rooms before I regret not staying tonight in London.” She kisses of both teenagers one last time. “I love you.”

When Gina and Jake come down the stairs of the Leaky Cauldron they find Charles and Terry already in the table. They say their hellos and seat down. The waitress arrives with five glasses and Amy thanks her with a smile.

“You ordered for us, Ames?” Jake asked

“Well, Charles and Terry arrived so, why not?” She gets up to distribute the drinks. “Gillywater for Gina, exploding lemonade for Jake…”

“You know me.”

“Of course I do.” Amy rolls her eyes. “Dragon milk for both Terry and Charles…”

“And the fishy green ale for Rosa.” Finishes Gina. “Where is she, by the way?”

“Right here dummies!” She only hugs back Gina and Amy, but lets Charles embrace her.

“And for us only a nod and a little smile Terry, do you feel hurt? ‘Cause I do” Jake puts a sad face at Rosa.

“Terry knows Rosa’s style. And I accept it.”

They all laugh. The feeling of being reunited one more time makes them feel warm inside, they might not say it a lot, or at all (except for Charles), but they do love each other.

After more than an hour of catching up and talking about the summer Amy asks the question she has been holding since Terry and Charles arrived.

“So, how do you guys feel about your last year?” She’s weirdly excited about them being in the most difficult year at Hogwarts.

“Santiago! Was it necessary to go academic?” Jake stares at her with his eyebrows risen.

“Nerd”

“Don’t laugh at me Rosa! And I’m not even gonna speak to you Peralta.”

“You just did.”

“Ugh.”

“Well,” begins Terry, breaking the friendly tension “I can’t speak for Charles but I am quite nervous about this year being my last at Hogwarts.”

“Yes! We have to take the finals, and the subjects are harder, and it is our last chance of winning the quidditch season.”

“Yeah, like Hufflepuff’s gonna win.” Laughed Rosa. “We all know that Slytherin will win the cup this year, just like the last one.”

“I’m sorry to tell you that Gryffindor will kick your butts this year.”

“Don’t be naive, Peralta, Ravenclaw is wining this year. We might have lost the final match last year, but at least we got to the last match.”

“Burn!!” Says Gina. “But seriously guys, stop talking about quidditch, you know I don’t play.”

“But you like it, and you are Slytherin’s mascot!” Rosa puts an arm around her housemate and squeezes before letting go.

Before they know it it’s the morning after and they are already wearing their uniforms in the Hogwarts Express, about to arrive to the castle.

Jake is talking about a quad that he bought in summer with the money he made working. Gina and him are the only muggleborns from the group so he is trying to explain what a quad is.

“It’s like a motorcycle but with four wheels.”

“What is a motorcycle again?” Asks Terry.

“See Jake? You’re terrible at explaining things.”

“Well if you’re so good at it, go on, Santiago, do your thing.”

She smiles at him smirking, proud of herself. “A motorcycle is a like bike with an engine, basically.” As Amy’s mother is a muggleborn half of her family is so, which means she knows everything that there is to know about muggles. “It is a vehicle with four wheels that allows you to go through places that a car doesn’t. And, in fact, it’s pretty more dangerous. You should be careful, Peralta.”

Terry nods, still not understanding completely.

“Jake told me about it,” says Boyle “apparently muggle girls love his quak.”

“Quad Boyle! And everyone loves my quad.”

“I don’t, it makes too much noise for me to sing Beyoncé peacefully.” Intervenes Gina.

“I highly doubt that girls from your neighborhood like your quad.”

“Oh you bet they do Santiago! You’re just jealous because you spent your summer alone and I didn’t.”

She looks at him like she can’t stand him. Jake gives her that cocky smile that he only has for her. He loves how easy it is for him to tease her. He’s probably the only person that really gets on her nerves.

“I have seven siblings, it is impossible for me to be alone.”

“I didn’t mean that kind of alone.”

She rolls her eyes at him. “Okay, you may be better than me at flirting, but I’m better than you at everything else.”

“Everything else meaning academic stuff.” Clarifies Rosa.

“Well yes,” answers Amy quickly “Hogwarts related stuff.”

“I am sorry, but we are even at Defense Against the Dark Arts.”

“Okay, that’s right.”

“And I’m better than you at quidditch.”

Amy opens her mouth and eyes surprised, rising her eyebrows. “Excuse me?”

“I am.”

“Prove it. Let’s see who scores more at the Ravenclaw-Gryffindor match. We’re both chasers after all.” She stands up. Amy can’t help being competitive.

“Okay.” Jake stands too. “But there’s no fun if we don’t bet anything.”

“Alright. But no money, because I like your mother and I don’t want her to be in debt.”

“Crushing debt if so, but you’re not wining.”

“Still, no money.” They both nod.

“What about Jake’s quad?” Asks Jerry. “If Amy wins, she can do whatever she wants to it.”

“Yes please! Burn it, Ames!”

“I though you were on my team, Gina!”

“Don’t me so innocent, pinapples.”

Jake snorts, but doesn’t say anything.

“But about if Amy loses?” Says Rosa. “She has to give something or do something.”

“Rosa’s right.”

“I won’t lose Terry, but that’s fair, I’ll do something.”

“If losing his quak…”

“Quad Boyle”

“If losing his quad” Charles clears his throat “is the wort thing to Jake, what’s the worst thing to you, Amy?”

“Being one of those girls Jake seduces.” She answers, mocking him.

“Ooooh okay okay okay, Santiago. That hurts.”

“Ha ha”

“So it’s settled.” Says Terry. “If Amy wins she gets Jake’s quad, and if Jake wins he takes her on a date to… Hogsmeade?”

“Agreed.” Jake and Amy say at the same time, shaking hands.

Xia Catch-Up Q&A's

Follows are all of the backfill Xia Q&A questions, behind a cut as to not destroy anyone's feed.

• What is your character’s patronus?

Gan, her Chow Chow dog. Oh, you mean, he is real and is not a Patronus? EVEN BETTER. Xia will reward him for being so beautiful and handsome and loyal with tons of hugs and also leftover pork.

• How does your character react to sudden and unexpected hugs?

Like a lot of people, it depends on the context. She is used to catcalls and weird people propositioning her, so if she thinks you are a creep she will shriek and cry in public, and chances are the creep will get beaten up (the people in her neighborhood are quite fond of her, and will not abide by people who make her sad.).

If you are NOT a creep, and are perhaps a strong or beautiful or dashing or etc, it is not unlikely for Xia to accidentally swoon or ‘lose her footing’ around them.

If you are a friend she is going to hug you, a lot. She will cling off of you dramatically, like you are a tree in a windstorm. She wants cuddle puddles. She wants it now and will hug Gan if nobody else hugs her. The need for friendly touch is super real for her.

• What incredibly dorky thing does your character do while thinking that it’s actually super cool?

Xia………...makes fanart. She draws her favorite celebrities, usually musicians or actors, on little porcelain cups with very small brushes, and then coos over them. When she meets Sousuke she is going to cry because she left her cup of his at home, and would have loved to have his signature on it. Would he please sign this paper, and she'll just transpose it later?

If a crew of people went over to her house for tea, just saying, the tea cups might be a bit weird.

• What is the craziest thing your character has done?

Usually she is super-obedient when she is at a job, and will dutifully hang out with the servants in case her client needs a touch-up during the party. But there was one party she was at where her absolute favorite Selan singer was playing! So Xia did the most radical, face-changing makeover on herself she could manage, and snuck into the back of the party to see her idol sing. Xia’s worries and anxiety got the better of her about 20 minutes in and she snuck back, but she cried the rest of the night at home because she got to see her favorite!

• What are some of your character’s weaknesses?

Xia is super duper poor at introspection or self-evaluation. Because she thinks so poorly of her abilities, she is late in realizing how useful she could potentially be. She also frightens very easily, and right now is far more likely to be a liability than a help during tense times.

This all limits her creatively as well - she holds herself back from creating a lot of the colors and the art that really happens in her mind, because she thinks that people will find her strange. Xia will be really encouraged if Meilan ever brought back art from our world - out where Meilan lives, people make all sort of strange and wonderful art without reservation! There is even a place called “deviant art” that stores millions and millions of pieces of art for everyone in the world to see. Isn’t that splendid?

• What’s your character’s biggest secret?

This will be hard for her to articulate to the other Suzaku, but Xia really thinks the Governor of Hongnan, Tan Yawen, is a wonderful woman, and would not want to see her hurt. Even though Xia gets so nervous whenever she goes to the Governor’s mansion, Governor Tan has been nothing but kind and encouraging to Xia. There hasn’t been anyone in the world who makes Xia really feel like she can do anything. So even when it turns out that Governor Tan uses some less-than-noble governing techniques, Xia still would not abide by the Suzaku hurting her.

1) What parts of your character’s personality or livelihood do you think reflects their patron deity?

The cornerstone of Xia’s character is the word “passion”, specifically the passion you feel when you are honing a craft you really love. When thinking about Hotohori’s power to be good at any one thing, I had thought it would be ironic if the Hotohori’s chosen skill was a creative passion that would at least seem 100% useless in the context of a war and rebellion. It has to do with a lot of the stuff we deal with in real life - I am really passionate about writing, but it is ‘useless’ compared to the skills I have that pay the bills, so you almost feel guilty about your passion. I imagine the Suzaku-sponsored lesson behind Xia is - do what you love, and the rest will work itself out.

2) If your character could pick any Star Warrior to be based on their power, which one would the choose? (they can’t pick themselves if they ARE a Star Warrior, that’s CHEATING)

Without a question, Tokaki’s teleportation skills. The summer days in Rongyang are THE WORST and so sticky and makes her makeup all gross. If she could just BOOP from one place to another, it would be so cool! Plus she could just pop into whatever theater show or concert she wants to see!

3) If your character could live anywhere else in the Three Wishes world, where would they like to live?

Xia rather likes Selan, and really likes it whenever a wealthy patron takes her that way. The people are just so beautiful and elegant there, and she thinks the towers are so pretty. She loves looking at the rainforest during her train ride through. And those mecha polo athletes! Talk about HOT. She has probably actually fainted in the audience during a match.

• IF YOUR CHARACTER WERE AN ICE CREAM SUNDAE WHAT WOULD THEY BE? (damn you Sage)

Grilled peach sundaes with praline sauce - the kind with vanilla ice cream scooped into actual grilled peach halves. • Does your character have any guilty pleasures? (nipped this from Ingrid!)

Xia is exactly the kind of person who is like “you know what, I had a hard day, I’m going to treat myself!” EVERY SINGLE DAY. It is like she has to reward herself for surviving any given day. Xia’s obviously guilty indulgence is food - she loves custards and tarts and red bean paste treats the absolute best. Her second big indulgence is her rotating door of paramours - on a particularly hard day she might be desperate enough to go door-to-door between them until she finds one down for ‘comforting’ her.

The only indulgence she actually feels guilty about is her Secret Stash of makeup. A lot of the makeup she has was purchased, but there is a secret special stash that she has made herself. Like, grinding-her-own-minerals sort of making. But this hobby is expensive and time-consuming, and so the makeup she creates tends to be so Special that she almost never uses them. These include some unorthodox colors and mixes she is afraid to use because they are so weird, like a dark green lipstick with gold leaf flecks, or a neon yellow eyeshadow. But she loves them, they are her Precious.

• Hogwarts House. Not even a question. This is perhaps the most indulgent prompt of all. Everyone wants to know.

Hufflepuff. She likes the idea of living behind the kitchens. And Xia doesn’t realize it, but she is an incredibly hard worker, and has been her whole life. So she fits in well as a Hufflepuff.

• Likewise, what nation and bending style from Avatar fits them best? This one is indulging my own curiosity, and it kind of goes with the HP question!

This is hard, but I think she would be an Earth Bender artist. Oh shit, specifically, she is an Earth Bender who does the makeup for the Kyoshi Warriors.

• FINALLY, think of a time your character’s wants have conflicted with their needs, and do tell.

It hasn’t happened yet, but Xia actually doesn’t want to leave home to adventure around with Team Suzaku. Her life has been a bit of a whirlwind in the last year, but finally she is doing what she loves - instead of a shitty job, she has a great job that she manages herself, and the money to both continue her creative work as well as her mom and grandmother’s. Xia love Team Suzaku, but she is also afraid that she is going to suddenly lose everything she’s gained. And worse, what if her family gets hurt in the meantime? So that will be a hard deal for Xia - she needs to go traveling to protect Meilan, but she wants to just continue her life as it is.

Well, and the hardest part is going to be telling the Governor that she needs to take time off. The Governor may not accept her resignation, after all.

• What is your character’s favorite beverage?

There is a very new sort of tea in Hongnan now, white tea, and Xia totally loves it! She particularly loves white tea when it has floral infusions, like floating petals or rose water. Additionally, Xia really REALLY loves ice, and will drink just about anything that has an ice cube or two in it.

• How do they feel about alcohol and other mind-altering drugs?

Xia likes herself some alcohol, particularly the HARD STUFF. She dislikes sake and wine, and shoots straight towards hard-hitting drinks like baijiu (vodka) or peach liquor. She is more tolerant to alcohol than her sweet personality implies, and she gets rougher and more forward the more she drinks.

Drugs aren’t really her bag, but she sympathizes with people who go that way. It’s hard for Xia to resist the urge to drink more than she already does - day-to-day life is just so stressful, so she gets why people use drugs just to try to get away from it all. Specifically, I think Xia would be a good, non-judgmental friend for Yuhan to have regarding her drug use.

• What is your character’s preferred form of entertainment? e.g. radio, books, pooh sticks, destroying ant hills?

Xia loves her radio and would like to be buried with it when she dies. When she is at home, usually she is painting or practicing makeup, but she always has her radio running. Xia loves listening to radio dramas (to the point where she gets really pouty and sad if she has to miss an episode) and she loves listening to music. When Xia is outside, she loves playing with Gan, which is anything from throwing sticks to racing to just napping in the shade. She also gravitates towards street performers, and can sometimes spend hours watching people in the plaza perform.

• Is this character extroverted, introverted, or somewhere in between?

Xia leans very strongly towards extroversion. She really thrives around other people, and wants nothing more than to make the people around her happy. She is chatty and can effortlessly make small talk, and likes to gossip with her friends. Even in social situations that make her nervous, like doing the Governor’s makeup, Xia expresses her nervousness by chattering even more (the Governor must find Xia’s chattering endearing, or else she is very good at zoning out). Only in the absolute worst of her anxiety will Xia shut up completely.

• How do they deal with situations counter to their socialization preferences? i.e. how does your introverted character deal with crowds/social events; how does your extroverted character deal with solitude?

Xia is capable of being alone for hours at a time when she is working, but even then she likes to hear the voices on the radio while she works, or have Gan sitting on her feet. If she was REALLY alone, like “I have to walk a day alone in the countryside”, she would get freaked out and anxious, but also really jumpy and needy for socialization again. She would dive into the arms of the first familiar face she sees.

(If/when Xia starts wandering around with Team Suzaku, she is going to miss her friends and family at home very much. To their bewilderment, she’ll even be morose and quiet! It is going to take a little bit of time before Xia can think of them as a replacement family.)

Based on these suggestions, I want to hear about AT LEAST two times your character has been wrong (ha ha, only two?) in the past… or COULD be wrong in the future! How wrong? Anything from slightly wrong (”should’ve taken a left turn” ”okay so dolphins are mammals NOT fish”) to WHOLE WORLD VIEW WRONG.

You know that phrase, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take? Those are the kind of mistakes Xia tends to make.

1) In school, the only subject she was good at was calligraphy, and unsurprisingly she was REALLY good - some of her work is still at her public school as part of a student mural. She probably had teachers who tried to encourage her to keep up with calligraphy and even specialize in it in later school years - but Xia at the time was more concerned with making money to help out her family, and didn’t pursue calligraphy because she didn’t see how it could be lucrative. But she could have saved herself a few years of shitty retail had she continued study and taken a job as a transcriber.

2) Xia has made a few mistakes in her makeup artist career - even though her god power makes her really good at styling, it doesn’t make her immune to stupid mistakes. The worst was when a client was at a masquerade and instead of a cloth mask, Xia suggested a mask made of flower petals that would be glued directly onto the client’s face. While the flower mask ended up looking beautiful and stunning, at the end of the night Xia removed the petals to find her client’s face underneath bright red and swelling. Turns out her client was allergic to rice, and Xia uses rice-glue as her go-to adhesive. Xia cried and refunded her client and even though the client thought the stunning flower mask made up for the subsequent rash, Xia still feels horrible and any job she has done for this client afterwards has been at a deep discount.
