Velvet yarn is the glitter of the fiber arts world. I hate it. I’m donating all of the stuff I bought to my local thrift store and never buying it again

To anyone who is queer and likes to read, there is an online library that you can get a card to with access to hundreds of books by/for/about queer people!
It's called the Queer Liberation Library! (Linked below)
My current queer book recs:
- What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
- Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott
- An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green
- Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle
- Wilder Girls by Rory Power
I'm not sponsored or anything, just an avid reader living in a conservative area that wants to spread the word! Let me know if you have any queer book recs!
Happy reading :)

My favorite wrapping paper is the one with the grid on the back. It makes things so much easier
#friendly neighborhood hufflepuff speaks#I’ve been wrapping presents while I’m the only one home and eyeballing a half off crease isn’t fun#I can’t fold straight so that’s also part of my issue#but it’s done for the day and I don’t have to fight wrapping paper

i was in a thrift shop the other day and they were playing the most unsettling variations of normal christmas music, culminating in this rendition of the 12 days of christmas except it was like 12 guys all singing over each other and going “no!” and interrupting the lyrics with random other phrases until they deadass just started singing 5 golden rings to toto’s africa. can anyone confirm that this is a real song and not that i stroked so hard i astral projected into a universe where everything is somehow worse than it is here

Ok kinda personal post here, but I just remembered when the first Inside Out movie came out, I was 16, not yet diagnosed with major depressive disorder and I was on a family camping trip, and one of my aunts had the audacity to say in front of me and my mom that I was like sadness from the movie. And ya know what my mom did? Nothing. You know what I did? Kept that in my memory and never once forgot about it. I’ve had uncles say I need to be more adventurous and less like my mom. Like that shit stays with you and it’s stuff you should never ever say to a teenager. My own mother has said im selfish and yeah sometimes I am but I also drop everything I’m doing to help people like god let me live. Basically it’s one of those days where im remembering how much it hurts to this day years later to have heard that.

So apparently last year the National Park Service in the US dropped an over 1200 page study of LGBTQ American History as part of their Who We Are program which includes studies on African-American history, Latino history, and Indigenous history.
Like. This is awesome. But also it feels very surreal that maybe one of the most comprehensive examinations of LGBTQ history in America (it covers sports! art! race! historical sites! health! cities!) was just casually done by the parks service.
