This is insane! It's a former carriage house built in the mid-1800s in New York City. They changed the street address to make it a part of the condo building next door. So, now it's a 3bd, 3ba condo priced at $7M and b/c it's part of a boutique condominium with 24/7 concierge services, a live-in resident manager, and only six units, you also pay a $6,777mo. HOA. (So, the concierge is in another building. How does that work?)
It has also been completely renovated.
Look at how tiny the living/dining room is. They also put in a huge skylight.
The kitchen is pretty nice. I like the marble (quartz?) backsplash and pale gray cabinetry. That concludes the 1st fl.
Then, you go up to the bedrooms.
The bedroom on this side is nice.
It has a lovely en-suite.
This is also a nice room.
And, it also has a beautiful en-suite.
So, apparently, the 3rd bd. is down in the basement.

AYS - Jeju trip /my recap/
Now that all of the Jeju episodes have aired, I've come back to quickly share my opinion. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion and speculation, you are more than free to disagree with me.
Overall, I managed to enjoy the episodes despite my initial hesitation. I was 50-50 about the first episode and I liked the other two. It wasn't a full love because while watching, I couldn't relax completely knowing how certain things would be twisted later on, but overall I enjoyed Jeju much more than I anticipated.
Let's start with the obvious difference between Jeju and NY, namely "the guest". TH's presence didn't add anything of value for me, apart from some cute Vmin moments and very few but still cute Vminkook ones. His being there didn't show me any new insight into their relationships, and there was no major change in either Vmin or Taekook. Even though Tae and JK spent a lot of time together in the first half of 2023, I didn't see any change in their dynamics or any new emotional depth to it. As many people have already said, JK and Tae together are two kids bouncing off each other's energies. They really bring out the immaturity in each other, and even if I tried, I could not get any romantic vibes from their interactions. Jk made it abundantly clear that TH being there was something he didn't choose and even seemed mildly annoyed by it the first day.
When it comes to JM and JK, this trip also didn't show anything new for me, but rather things I've always associated them with - their own private jokes, their being in sync with each other at all times, just existing in their own little world. They really do click. I loved their scenes at the pool, both days, I loved that JK is JM's personal chef, I loved that JM always pays attention to what JK is doing, even when driving, I loved their little joint routine at all times of the day. This really was JM and JK's trip through and through, and even a third party being there didn't really change anything. The only time we didn't have the signature JK and JM interactions was when JM was feeling unwell, after that they were back to their usual antics.
Jeju to me showed them being as close as ever. None of the tension and awkwardness from NY was present, which means that whatever issues they previously had, it was all resolved between the two trips.
As for them individually, I would say I am more and more and more amazed with Jimin with every new footage of this man I see. Firstly, he is just so naturally uniquely gorgeous. I kept staring at his bare face and wondering how one person could be so pretty even when sleeping, driving, and feeling sick. It's just like magic to me. More than that, he is just a class act through and through. He is polite, fun, considerate, energetic, just the whole package.
When it comes to JK, I would say he is a special person and probably a lot to handle in real life. He can be really sweet and his love language is definitely acts of service, but he also has an immature side to him. Maybe that comes from being the youngest and I think it was especially amplified because he was with the youngest members who always let him off easily. I think he is very kind-hearted, definitely not mean-spirited like some people make him out to be, but he is also a little bit impulsive at times. Personally, for me, he would probably be a little too much to handle in real life, but I can see that JM for sure knows how to handle him really well. As for JK's feelings towards Jimin, I think this boy lives and breathes for Jimin's attention. When JM is near, he is downright obsessed with having his eyes on him. He truly is like a big energetic, sometimes unruly puppy, wanting to be played with, praised, and loved upon. I can't really blame him, though. I, too, would turn into a clown or a personal chef, if it meant having Park Jimin's love and attention directed at me. In my opinion, nobody could truly deserve Jimin, but it is clear that Jimin truly adores Jungkook.
Jeju definitely showed that Jm and Jk have a very special type of relationship. The vibes between them were as weird as ever and it left me with more questions about the nature of their relationship than answers, but then again, this is also nothing new. 2023 Jikook remains confusing to me, but I am okay with that.
In conclusion, I liked the Jeju trip and I am not afraid to admit I love the solo parts between Jm and Jk the most. After all, this is what I paid for and wanted to see from the beginning and I am glad there were still plenty of JM and JK solo interactions. While these three episodes were better than what I expected them to be, I am the most excited about the upcoming Japan ones. I must admit I dreaded the Jeju episodes a little bit, which is why I actually didn't watch the first two right away, but I am fully, and 100% excited about Japan.

The pictures Tae posted were taken at a moment that wasn’t for fans entertainment but the choice to post it for fans to see could be because he knew fans would love to see it. Like you said it was a private moment and he had the pictures to look at for himself anytime he wanted to so what else was the need to post it to the public? He already had the memories, had the pictures for himself so what do you think was the reason to let millions of people see these pictures that were taken at a private moment if he didn’t do it with fans in mind? I didn’t say the moment itself was fanservice, I only said his decision to post the pics could be because he knew fans would love to see them which is fanservice. When ever the members spend time together without the knowledge of fans, that ofcourse isn’t fan service but the moment they decide to share some of those memories with us by posting pictures or telling us about their outings or hangouts, i believe that they only do that because they know we love seeing them or hearing about them together, that is what I meant.
Then about the travel show not being only for fans entertainment look at it this way. My friend and I decide to do a travel vlog and in that vlog we would be traveling and making memories for ourselves but also sharing those memories with the world. We have an experience that we love and that we would also like to share with the world. That is why I said I think the travel vlog was for them first and then for fans entertainment. I don’t think that when they spoke about it then, they intended for it to be produced by the company. I think they wanted to do something similar to what Jk did with GCF Tokyo where they travel around by themselves and just take footage with their go pros like we can see them do alot in the travel show, edit the footage themselves probably and then post it on youtube or something. In some of the clips from the teasers and trailers we can see that they don’t seem to be with any staff and all the footage we get from those clips are from their go pros which they hold themselves so I think that was initially the idea but maybe the company then decided to do it the way they did so they could use it for content to keep fans engaged while the members are away. Even the people who spotted them out and about last year in Jeju and NY mentioned that they were just the two of them with their go pros and no staff. We even have that clip of the girl who posted about seeing them come into her store to get frozen pizzas. Last year she said they were just the two of them with their go pros when they came in to buy the pizza and we have that clip in the show lol. The fan who spotted them in sapporro also said they were alone too with their go pros and drove to the airport by themselves and the manager and security only met them at the airport so I get the impression that, that is exactly what they wanted to do but bighit then decided to make it into a whole show. It’s just like we know that Friendcation was also just supposed to be Tae traveling with his friends but they decided to make it into a show but just because Jimin and Jungkook had planned to make a travel vlog doesn’t mean it was all just for fans entertainment. The fact that the idea to do the vlog also didn’t come from the company is why I said It was for them first and not only intended for fans entertainment.
Just wanted to explain further because it seemed like some people misunderstood what I was trying to say. 💜
Hi again anon!
In a nutshell, I disagree. Also, I’d like to point out that when it comes to Jkk you seem to focus on them doing it for themselves, while in Tae’s case you make this more about him doing this for fans. This is going in the direction of Tae doing things for attention (which might bot be your intention, but I do want to make you aware of how your explanation reads to me).
The bigger picture here, is that it’s always Jk who gets singled out by Tae. Unless you think Tae never meets with other members (which we know isn’t true) I think that is an important factor to consider. If it was merely a case of knowing army likes to see members together, we’d been seeing more diversity in members popping up in Tae’s Instagram. It is not a coincidence that it’s always Jk. It’s because to Tae, Jk is more meaningful. I know for a lot of people that is difficult to come to terms with, but holy shit.. it literally cannot get more clear. Sure a part of Tae also understands that fans will love to see that pic.. but it sure is more than just posting a member because fans like to see it. Also.. realize.. that those pics did not only get him/them love.. but a crap load of shit as well. If you’re a Tkkr.. it’s quite alright to say that they do things that are meaningful for them.. for their own pleasure and happiness. If you’re not a Tkkr, why is the possibility of this being something Tae did for Tae something that has to be countered with ‘fanservice’, while me saying the Travel show is company content is ‘them doing it for themselves first’? Tae is just as human as the rest of us, he does choose to do things for himself. Also.. to me, those captions he used firmly took this from a member posting a member to ‘I want to share how special this was to me’.
On the travel show.. what you describe goes against what Jk himself said on Suchwita.
Jm himself had the idea for a travel variety show. That indicates content creation. Jk says they suddenly arranged a shoot, which also indicates content creation. It also goes against us clearly seeing crew around them. I don’t really know what the problem is here, we don’t feel bad about In The Soop and Bon Voyage being for content, so why (!?) is it a debate when it’s about Jm and Jk? Is it because we’re Tkkrs talking about them and people feel the need to push back? Is it because to you the Travel show being content creation is less valuable because it wasn’t a private trip gone public? Jk and Jm didn’t plan a travel vlog. They agreed it would be fun to do one and never discussed it again until they set one up for them. If they had planned it Jk would not have been surprised about a shoot being set up during his own promo time.
Again, I am positive they enjoyed themselves. I think they look back at this time with real joy. It was an opportunity for them to spend time together. But in my opinion it would not have happened if not for army content.

Where's that Supernatural meme when you need it?
There was a second assassination attempt made against Trump this afternoon. Luckily Secret Service saw an AK-style
The biography of the man in custody is --hoping it's not too early to talk about these things-- frankly fascinating. The most comprehensive run-through I've seen so far is from the NY Post, so take all this with a grain of salt, but if what they're saying is accurate: he's a late-50s, white man from Hawaii, went to college in NC (.... yeah ....) and had a criminal record there. Critic of Trump but also Biden and bizarrely of Bruno Mars. Supporter of Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy. Actually tried to buy a rocket from Elon Musk so he could launch a missile at Putin's house. Tried to get the US to send Afghani vets into Russia to assist in the war against Russia and offered to go himself.
Somehow still managed to buy or otherwise get an AK-style rifle.
I really don't want to valorize him, but I'd also read the heck out of a fanfic involving him. He fascinates me.
All that said.... there's so much anger and fear in my country right now, and there's just such easy access to guns in certain circles. There really are better ways. This is where I tell all y'all to vote and get engaged in other, still legal and effective ways. But you probably know my schpiel on that point already.

Bound by Law (Matt Murdock x Reader)
Words: 3365 (chapter 40)
AN: pardon me for this chapter but... Yeah.
/slight smut/ minors dni!
40. running away is all I know
"Isn't it a bit too loud?" You shout to Pug, whose hand has been steadily keeping a hold of your wrist and pulling you forward through the sweaty crowd.
"What?!" Pug turns to briefly look at you, but then continues his journey towards the bar.
"Exactly!" You shout back, trying to not lose your purse and your friend by tightly gripping Pug's jacket with your other hand. You got out of your 5-hour flight just before noon, and now Pug was dragging you out for drinks, hoping that it would lessen your guilt and heartache over a certain someone.
"Oh, I see it!" He says excitedly, and finally you spot the bar, full of people lingering near the counter and others sitting on the high stools. The whole place reeks off rich people with big egos and you're a bit surprised that it changed so much since you left Los Angeles.
"Pug, it's full." You gently pull on his sleeve, but he still drags you near the left side of the bar, where a couple of guys were having a heated conversation, something about business and stocks from what you've managed to overhear in such a short time. Pug gestures something to the bartender and in a minute the guys are leaving their seats, grumbling something about rude service.
"After you, madam." He shows you the stool and helps you to sit down first, before getting comfortable on his stool beside you.
"You call me madam again, and I'm taking the next plane to NY." You send a threatening glare and Pug puts his hands up in defense.
"Okay, okay." He sighs then calls for a bartender. "'Sup Johnathan?"
"Pug, my man, how's it going? Haven't seen you here for a while." They shake hands like old pals and you can't wipe the confusion off of your face.
"I've been busy lately, but hey, I brought this beautiful lady today, it's been what..? a year since she last was here." Pug announces, suddenly making you feel old.
"Oh, nice to meet you, Miss...?" He extends his hand over the counter, waiting for your response.
"Y/n." You shake his hand and you're pretty sure that it smells like all the alcohol in this bar mixed together.
"Johnathan. You said you were here a year ago?" He smiles, the light of the bar illuminating his short, spiky hair.
"Yeah, and I honestly don't remember you." You say, squinting your eyes slightly. "Maybe you would've been a good catch for the night." You watch his eyes widen but then a mischievous glint changes the confusion.
"What about tonight?" He leans closer, trying to keep the conversation on low volume, despite the whole club going feral.
"Oh, Johnny, her heart is in another city, not a chance." Pug nudges his arms and John retreats back a safe distance. You only smile and order Vodka Red Bull, while Pug sticks to his usual Martini.
"Starting off strong?"
"Yeah, trying to forget some stuff." You huff a laugh and Pug eyes you knowingly. After you spilled all your heart in his apartment and in the taxi on your way here, he wasn't about to complain about your road-to-a-heart-attack drink order, because he knew how much you needed to get properly wasted tonight.
***
After the gala, you woke up the next evening, head pounding and a lump hanging in your throat. Your mouth felt so dry that you actually had to peel your tongue off of the top of your mouth. The first thing you saw upon opening your eyes was Foggy sitting in a chair next to you; actually, sleeping heavily, and you almost wished that Matt was sitting next to him, but the second chair was empty. Finally spotting the flowers on the table, you moved in bed, waking up Foggy.
He was beyond worried, immediately thanking God that you've woken up, and running around the ward like a little worker ant.
"Foggy... Please, you're making my head spin." You said, feeling restricted by all the tubes and needles attached to your body, "Can you lift the bed?"
"I don't think you should sit up so soon."
"Since when you're a doctor?" You asked, already annoyed that he didn't hurry to fulfil your wish.
"Since I-" He stopped, thinking about Matt resting in his apartment, "Okay, whatever."
"Thank you." You said when he finally fixed the pillow and you felt your body relax. "How'd you find me?"
"How'd you get here? What the hell happened? I mean Claire told me why you're here but how the hell did you get poisoned?" Foggy started wawing his hands around in the air.
"Who's Claire?"
"Your nurse. She recognized you from your old bilboard and called HCB and then got sent to us."
"Oh." You fall silent, looking at your fingers resting in your lap. "I...was at Fisk's party."
"What? Why?" Foggy looks at you intently, and suddenly you feel like a child who is about to get a lecture from their parents about a broken thing.
"I had to, there was no other choice. He gave me no other choice." You furrow your eyebrows angrily.
"Who? Fisk? Did he threaten you?"
"It's a long story, Foggy, I don't think I'm ready to talk about it..." You sigh, softly smoothing the covers with your hand.
"I'm so tired of all the secrets." Foggy grumbles under his breath, sending a look at the flowers.
"What secrets?"
"Nothing, just forget about it."
Probably for the first time since you and Foggy met, you felt him acting cold towards something, which was very unlike him. "Can you pass me my phone? Before the nurses come and send me through millions of tests."
"Sure." He comes close and hands you the phone, still looking at the flowers. You're met with at least 50 messages and 20 calls from Pug, asking where are you. All from yesterday. "There's a note for you." Foggy fidgets next to you and takes out the note, "is it from him?"
You take the piece of paper and read the words: "i wish it could've been different", written in nice cursive, although it was painfully evident that a man wrote it.
"Is it from that Wesley guy?" Foggy asks again, this time more demanding.
"I think so. I think he brought me here." You scrunch your nose when the hospital smell finally reaches you. "Remember that woman in art gallery?" You ask, eyes wide and, if Foggy wasn't wrong, a little bit wild.
"The one with dark hair? Who was telling me about that ugly painting?"
"Yeah, Vanessa." You say, somehow feeling strength return to your body, "she's with Fisk. There were all kinds of dicks in that Gala, all the rich people of the city, I don't even know half of them, but they're pretty high in power, I think I saw someone from the Station. Foggy, he has everyone in his pocket, we can't do anything about it. We just can't expose him because he's already three steps ahead and has it all covered." You sigh with desperation and notice a familiar face peeking through the small window inside your ward. You knew that face, he was one of the security men in the party. Marco notices your wide eyes and quickly disappears just like he appeared.
Foggy continues pacing around, failing to notice the unfamiliar person, much to his luck. "This is bad, this is so bad." He mumbles again, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm getting out of here. Tonight. I can't stay here any longer." You begin pulling out the needles out of your arms, quickly alarming Foggy.
"Hey, hey, are you crazy?"
"It's crazy to stay here, when Fisk has this place fully packed with his men, I have no doubt about that." You catch his hand trying to stop you and sit on the edge of the bed. "Please, let's just get out of here and I leave you alone, I won't bother you tonight. In fact, I'm going to LA for the weekend."
"What? After Matt had... The incident?" Foggy asks, making your hurried actions come to a halt.
***
"Oh, my favorite type of clients." Johnathan smiles and disappears in the other side of the bar.
"So, I've been meaning to ask you..." Pug starts, spinning the toothpick with olives in his glass.
"Yeah?" You take a sip of your drink and the burning sensation in your throat makes you feel alive again.
"What are your plans after what happened?" He looks at you, unreadable expression on his face.
"Try to stay alive?" You joke, hoping to avoid any serious topics, especially when you came here to get loose.
Pug doesn't get to ask any more questions when suddenly your world becomes dark - big hands on your face cover your eyes and you almost jump in your seat. "Guess who?" A deep voice says close to your ear, warm breath tickling the back of your head. Involuntary, you smile, ignoring the fact that a possible stranger put his hands on your face, most likely ruining your makeup. Your hands come onto his, slowly grazing his fingers and wrists, feeling the layer of hair and strong muscles. There was only one person in your whole life, who still did this childish game.
"Max?" You ask and feel momentarily blinded by the lights when the hands leave your face and rest on your shoulders.
"Bingo!" A voice with thick Australian accent exclaims behind you, and you turn on your chair to see a taller man standing with his arms open, smile on his face as big as the moon tonight.
"Max!" You shout and almost immediately pull him into your embrace, feeling the muscles under his dark green shirt when he presses you close into his chest. He pulls away slightly and takes your hand in his, leaning close to kiss your knuckle. You hold his gaze and shiver slightly when his lips touch your skin, disappearing just as quick as they made contact. Pug looks at the two of you, slightly surprised and almost shocked.
"Max? What a coincidence." He says, pushing his hand in front of Max and quickly greeting the man.
You quickly glance at his shoes and smirk. "Cowboy boots?"
He laughs, head falling back and exposing his thick neck. "You can take me from Texas, but you can't take Texas from me, baby."
"You're from Australia." You deadpan, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, I grew up in Texas, baby." He winks, looking around the place.
"Still got that cowboy hat in your apartment?" You take a sip of your drink, turning to Max again. Sitting in the middle of the bar side and managing the whole three-way conversation turned out to be a bigger challenge for your drunken self than it actually was.
"Even better, I probably have like 5 cowboy hats." He smiles, dimples visible on his cheeks, curls falling on his forehead. It's been only couple of years since you last saw him, but he has changed a lot. "Can't believe I met you guys here. I mean I'm here every weekend or so, but it's been too long since I was met with familiar faces."
"I'm not hiding anywhere, just getting drunk in less expensive places." Pug shrugs, side eyeing the bar for any signs of Johnathan and a new drink.
"Well... I've been busy with work.. in Hell's Kitchen." You cast your eyes down, watching the bubbles rise in your glass.
"That hole?" Max asks, not really surprised, but maybe a bit disappointed.
"Yep, that hole. It's just as bad as LA but a lot less fancy."
"Augustus you're still into the law?"
"More 'in' than 'into', but yes, still there." Pug replies, somewhat sourly. He wished to spend as much time with you as he could before you leave again for God knows how long but of course, Max was ruining everything.
"So, what are you doing here, Max?" You ask, saving Pug from another awkward answer.
"Oh, just making my way into the hierarchy of the prison." He says, eyes glinting, "I'm kind of an important person there."
"What, they let you sleep in the top bunk?" You ask, pretending to be shocked.
"Haha, very funny. I'm second to the head chief, so, you know, I can do whatever I want."
"No wonder you're so... Bulky now." You reply, eyes sliding down his chest.
***
You force him on his knees, locking the doors of his apartment behind you and leaning on the nearby wall. "Oh, I like it." Max smirks, kneeling in front of you, smiling. Leaving the club with Max and ditching Pug with a mysterious blonde was a huge mistake, but now you weren't thinking; alcohol was doing it for you.
"Wanna like it more?" You ask, fingers messing with his dark curls. He nods, eagerly placing his hands on your thighs and giving a firm squeeze. He looks at you, asking for permission and you nod slowly, because if you did it faster, you were sure that your vision would be lost. Strong fingers lift the end of your dress and Max starts kissing your thigh; you hold your breath, waiting for him to acknowledge the obvious under your dress, but when he continues teasing, you grab a fistful of his hair and push his face on your center. He looks at you from below, eyes unfocused from the alcohol, the sudden pull of his hair causing him to jerk his hips forward.
He knows how you like it. Or liked. It's been too long since he felt your body underneath his, tightly pressed together and desperate for more. Yet not long enough for him to forget how you liked your pussy to be eaten. Max eyes you one more time before lifting himself up more to grab the hem of your underwear with his teeth and starts pulling it down. You watch the scene unfold between your legs, still tightly holding onto his hair. As he pulls your underwear down to your knees, they fall on the floor on their own, making him smirk. You gently pull him back and he takes the hint, diving to suck your clit. You almost moan out loud at the contact, but swallow it harshly. Max sets a relentless pace, making you tug at his hair harder. He tries to hide it, but you can see the way he's moving his hips, trying to make some type of contact with his pants and you say something that surprises you both. "Touch yourself."
He finally pulls away, breathing heavily and looking at you with a dazed expression, your wetness glistening on his lips. You release his hair, pulling him up by his chin to your eye level. "What?" He asks, blinking more than necessary, perhaps slightly sobering up.
"I wanna see you touching yourself when you eat me." You say more confidently now, kissing his cheek for reassurance. You didn't want to kiss him on the lips and continuously refused to do so in the taxi. He puts his whole body weight on his palms on the wall to keep his balance.
Max groans when your hands start unbuckling his belt and unbuttoning his pants and you teasingly lick his neck. Max's eyebrows knit together, waiting for the desired contact with his cock, but you pull away, holding the hem of your dress instead. He looks at you in question, but then awkwardly pulls his pants down, exposing his already hard dick. "I want to see you cum when you lick my clit." You say, feeling slightly lightheaded when he spits into his palm and wraps his hand on his dick, groaning loudly at the contact, his breath near your neck tickling your skin. "Get on your knees." You say, watching him continue to stroke himself for a brief moment before you pull his head to your center again, letting his tongue do the rest.
You lay on the bed next to Max, ashamed that you just faked your orgasm, staring at the ceiling in thought. Both still fully dressed, feeling too hot for your liking after the previous incident (that's all it was in your mind), you were both looking at the same dried spot of yellow on one of the ceiling tiles. Max turns his body towards you, lying on the side, his head resting on his palm. You pay no attention to the shuffling beside you, still staring with an empty gaze. The alcohol was still buzzing through your veins, creating an unpleasant feeling in your head.
"What's on your mind?" Max asks, carefully inspecting your facial expressions.
"Everything." You simply say. Words were not enough to explain what was going through your mind, and Max, staring at your face, didn't make it all easier.
"I thought you hated Hell's Kitchen." He says and looks at you questioningly.
"I did." You sigh, closing your eyes, "still do."
"But he makes it bearable?" Max asks, his finger gently touching the scar on your arm, where the bullet grazed your skin.
***
"What incident? What happened?" You demand, watching Foggy stumble with an answer.
"He got into a car accident." He lies.
"What?" Your voice gets higher.
"He's okay now, pretty beat up but he's okay... At home." Foggy finishes awkwardly, eyes scanning the floor.
"When did that happen?" You pull up the jeans that Foggy brought. New ones. And they fit perfectly. If he wasn't a lawyer then he would've been a great retail worker.
"Last night."
"Were you even going to tell me?"
"The same way you told me about that party?"
Checkmate. Foggy has finally caught you in a corner. "Tell Matt if you see him that I'm really sorry about lying and... I hope that he's okay." You pull on a hoodie and grab your phone. "I'm getting out of here."
"Y/n!" Foggy shouts when you slip out of the ward, knocking the vase with flowers down on your way. You had to leave, you had to go to LA. You couldn't stay here this weekend, and once again, your gut feeling was right - it was best to leave Hell's Kitchen and Fisk, yet not the best decision to leave Matt wounded and alone.
***
"I think so." You reply, turning to look at Max.
"Jeepers, you're down bad for him." He laughs lowly, chest rumbling with the action.
"You weirdo, no one ever says 'jeepers' in a normal conversation."
"Well, in my defense, your Honor, this is not a normal conversation." He mocks and you slightly punch his arm.
"It's such a dick move from me. I didn't even visit him, and his best friend told me about the car accident. I think he hoped I was going to visit him."
Max looks at you intently, calculating his next words. "Do you think he'd want you to visit?"
"I don't know. I kind of wanted him to visit me when I was in the hospital... But at the same time I was glad that he didn't. I mean... We're nothing. We just work together and share the same fucking table in the office. And we had sex..." You rub your face and exhale loudly. "But it's not like we're in a relationship."
"Do you want to be in a relationship with him?" Max asks, a soft smile on his face.
"I wouldn't mind that... But you know me."
"I know that he's not me," Max begins, sitting on the edge of the bed, his back turned on you. "I couldn't win you, and I'm sure you've never had a thought about me that was similar to what you just said about him. So..."
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying that he has more chances than me, which means that you two can at least try to create something."
"You're somehow both making sense and talking complete nonsense at the same time."
"Hey, it's the alcohol talking." He smiles, leaning back on the bed, his head almost resting in your lap. "But seriously, you should try it."
"Try what?" You chuckle, slowly messing with his curls.
"Being happy."

Hurricane Helene and the Appalachian Trail
This is an excerpt from a recent NY Times article by Victor Mather. Although the PCT is not so vulnerable as the AT to the ravages of hurricanes, weather extremes can easily have an outsized impact on miles of the ribbon of trail that connects Mexico and Canada. This article serves as a grim reminder about just how fragile these National Scenic Trails are.
As the scope of devastation caused by Hurricane Helene comes into focus, an American landmark that dozens of towns benefit from is facing historic destruction: the Appalachian Trail.
The 2,200-mile trail along the East Coast and the Southeast attracts millions of hikers each year, and brings an economic boost to a host of towns along the route. But last week Hurricane Helene became the most destructive natural disaster the century-old trail had seen, uprooting trees, destroying bridges and washing away rock steps, making large portions impassable, according to the conservancy that manages it.
Damage from flooding, strong winds and tornadoes was present in many of the 14 states the route touches, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy said.
“The scope and scale is historic,” Sandi Marra, the conservancy president, said of the damage. Although it was not yet possible to T
The conservancy plans to assess the damage and prioritize the hardest-hit areas, Ms. Marra said, but the timeline for clearing and rebuilding the trail will not be quick.
“I cannot imagine it will be normal in 2025,” she said.
Some parts of the trail may need to be rerouted, forcing hikers onto roads, she said. Trailhead parking lots may have been washed away, and both small bridges for hikers and highway bridges used to get to the trail may be gone.
The conservancy’s website notes that many of the towns are also encouraging visitors not to come so they can prioritize recovery.
Throughout the region, the hurricane sent water and mud down from mountains. As a result of the deluge, some small towns have been virtually cut off from the outside world.
Some of the places where hikers stay, eat and form communities, can typically expect economic growth and a boost in tourism, the conservancy said.
“Nobody can hike the Appalachian Trail without these communities,” said Gary Sizer, who hiked the trail in 2014 and wrote the book “Where’s the Next Shelter?” about the trip. “The whole experience is a series of three-to-five day backpacking trips. You get to a town, you meet some people. Hikers form a community.”
The conservancy is advising hikers to stay off the trail in some areas. National forests through which the trail passes in North Carolina, Tennessee and southwest Virginia are closed.
Beyond the forests, the conservancy also urged hikers to postpone their trips through a southern stretch between Georgia and Rockfish Gap, Va. That’s more than 800 miles of the trail.
“People will say they’re not officially closed, and that’s true,” Ms. Marra said of the network of trails. But the storm has made parts of the path “precarious and dangerous,” according to Janet Hensley, who follows and helps hikers from a van every year and is known to many of them as Miss Janet.
“On the trail, you may spend half of a day getting through a cluster of trees blocking the path,” Ms. Hensley said of the damage.
For any damage to the trail, there is greater concern about the nearby communities. Ms. Marra cited Damascus, Va.; Hot Springs, N.C., and Erwin, Tenn., as among the hardest-hit places near the trail.
“You have people who are literally struggling for water and food,” Ms. Marra said of the residents around the trail. She suggested hikers travel to places where they would not put pressure on services. “Why strain a system that is already broken?”
For decades, the Appalachian Trail has had a special hold on hikers, with many attempting, and the most intrepid succeeding, in traversing the whole thing.
“It’s a very diverse trail,” Mr. Sizer said, explaining its popularity. “In Georgia, it’s lush and humid with rolling hills, somewhat easy going. North Carolina, that’s your first experience above tree line. By the time you get up North, you’re literally climbing hand over hand, you’re not just hiking.”
Still, the trail and surrounding communities are normally a happy and welcoming environment for enthusiasts like Ms. Hensley. She has become a well-known sight on the trail for 15 years, driving her sticker-covered van with its large smiley face on the roof to bring water, food and replacement equipment to hikers. During a phone interview, she was interrupted for a selfie.
“When they see the van, it makes them happy,” she said.
But the smiles for hikers and the trail community are muted now. “It’s just heartbreaking,” she said.

Feedist Kinktober Day 8- Vacation
We were both lucky enough that our jobs rewarded us with an all paid expense vacation. You put your bags down and your immediate thought is to order room service. You order fried chicken, steak, coconut shrimp, mashed potatos, oh you made sure you had a feast. I grin as the room service person comes up with all the food and alcohol you ordered. I crack open two smirnoff bottles and get this vacation started.
I start with the fried chicken. The spicy garlic scent coating both of our fingers. I moan as grease drips down both of our lips. I kiss you, sucking up whatever oils on your lips. I lick my fingers clean and moved onto the steak. I cut myself a piece and moan out softly. The steak was cooked to perfection. I fed you a piece as you savored the rosemary and herb seasoning on the meat. It was the perfect level of pinkness on the inside and cooked on the outside. You were beginning to slow down but that wouldn't stop me from stuffing that fat gut of yours.
Next I take a piece of coconut shrimp and dip it in this tantalizing sauce. There was a hint of pina colada and orange tang to the sauce. I immediately shove the piece into your mouth. I take half of the order and feed you the other half. I take a swig of Smirnoff and let out a soft belch. I giggle and lick my lips.
You're panting softly, your belly sticking up into the air. I graze my nails across the already forming stretch marks across your belly.
"Don't tell me your already full sweetie?"
You brush me off but I could see that dazed look in your eye. "Perhaps you need some... encouragement."
I shoved a piece of coconut shrimp in your mouth. I draw my finger down your belly and reaching under to grab at your fupa. You immediately sit up taller. You swallow the shrimp and open up for more. As one hand jiggles the fatty area the other shoves shrimp dipped in sauce into your mouth. You buck your hips and try to get me to move even further down.
"Ah, ah, ah sweetie that's not how this game is played. You get dessert after dinner."
With a frustrated growl you keep eating like a beast. Though, I supposed I shouldn't have teased you as much. I feel your chubby arm grab onto mine and pull me into your lap. The sudden motion leaving us both burping and rubbing our bellies. You suddenly shove mash potatoes into my mouth. I swallow thick, creamy, buttery substance without fail. When the bowl is done I'm a whining mess, pawing at my slightly chubby belly. Nothing compared to the gorgeous globe of fat you called your tummy.
You cut a piece of thick NY caramel cheese cake and feed me a forkful. After that I try to avoid the other forkfuls but you manage to get them into my mouth. I whine about being too full and rub my belly pitifully. You chuckle.
"Ah, ah, ah sweetie, that's not how this game is played. It's only day one of vacation. We still got six more days to get that gut up to snuff," You said in a slightly mocking voice. I nodded weakly accepting another forkful of cheesecake.
You smirk and chuckle. "Good girl."

Not saying you should out-conspiracy the vaccine complainers, but I’ve done it and it’s extremely funny to watch them glitch out
I find not engaging with crazy people to be far more rewarding because they hate that shit.
Crazy people is a list including, but in no way limited to:
People who tell others they need to get the COVID-19 vaccine
People who tell others why they shouldn't get the COVID-19 vaccine
Everybody in government, every country, every level
People who speak English as a primary language
People who do not speak English as a primary language
People who think they speak English as a primary language but can't fathom the difference between "lose" and "loose"
People who don't like cheese
People who don't like chocolate
@shriekingpotatos
People who think pumpkin is edible
People who think parsnips are edible
That one guy in NY who doesn't like ice cream
People who vomit their political/religious opinions around like anybody actually wants to hear that shit
Full-service restaurant non-tippers
Pretty much everybody in Cracker Barrel's corporate offices
The entire state of California and everywhere a Californian moves to
People with pictures of a shitty dark circle of the eclipse talking about how beautiful it was - your fucking picture wasn't
Pete Buttigieg
Mike Pence
The entire cast, audience, production crew, janitorial staff, and pretty much anybody in any way affiliated with The View
People that don't want to try my homemade wine and beer
The makers of Zima, clear Coke, new Coke, clear Pepsi, and all the god-awful clear beverages of the 90's that on a good day tasted like a rhino's expressed anal glands mixed with sweat
People who gave Unicorn Overlord bad reviews - your opinion is bad and you should feel bad
The IRS, especially those who decided auto-gratuity was a wage and not a tip
Those Just Stop Oil protesters that shut down roads so people sit there with their cars running, burning more oil
People who let their children run loose
Customers in general. Should have led with that.
Managers, especially the ones who think it's somehow motivating to have pay/hours/job threats constantly looming and that yelling is the best way to get what you want
I could have just said customers and left it at that...but I'd already typed too far and was too lazy to scroll back up. -J

I don't like paying overmuch for things but I don't think the people selling the things are going to pass on the savings from port automation to me, nor do I think longshoremen are the reason for prices going up. And I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to buy things if you automate away all of their jobs, since you're never in a million years getting UBI or barracks communism or whatever other idea you have in mind to fix that problem.
Indented text is AI generated, lazily verified.
The Port of New York and New Jersey operates under a landlord port model: - PANYNJ acts as the landlord, managing public infrastructure and port land. - The port authority leases infrastructure to private operating companies and industries. - Private companies handle cargo operations and maintain their own superstructure (e.g., buildings, equipment). Revenue Structure The port's financial structure includes: - PANYNJ relies primarily on revenue generated from facility operations, including tolls from bridges and tunnels, user fees, and rents5. - Leasing often accounts for about 50% of total port revenue. - The port authority maintains reserve funds, including the General Reserve Fund and the Consolidated Bond Reserve Fund
Okay so it seems like the port authority of ny manages a bunch of meta-port stuff and then leaves the actual operation to operating companies, but the unions have a strong lock on operating companies. To make things simple lets pretend other east coast us ports work like that.
The chain of logic goes
ports get automated -> operating costs for companies renting from port authority are lower -> their competitors also have lower prices -> port services are generally undifferentiated labor -> lowest bidder wins -> shipping companies have lower expenses -> shipping is also undifferentiated -> the savings are passed on to consumers in a competitive market -> you pay less money for, like, beans
As to that second point, about what the dockworkers will do if they're automated, why does it matter?
We do not run schools for the benefit of teachers.
We do not run fire departments for the benefit of firefighters.
We do not run ports for the benefit of dockworkers.
We have public infrastructure to benefit the public, and we should be interested in making it work as best as it possibly can. It is sad if some dockworkers lose their jobs in that process. But. These are by and large able bodied people in major metro areas on the eastern seaboard of the US. The vast majority of them will be able to find something else to do for money. We do not need to pay them to dig holes and fill the holes in again.

NYS RACES (radio amateur civil emergency service) had a member share this and I’ve been working thru the nets.
NBEMS (narrow band emergency messaging software) is using our widely available equipment (PC’s) to leverage software such as FLDIGI do manage communication in times of need.
Most PC’s have great sound cards and clocks and can encode decode (with software) data for transmission over radio. Back when I was a new ham in the 90’s this was pretty cutting edge and many of us had dedicated TNC (terminal node controllers) which were expensive and somewhat dedicated to particular modes. Clever people saw the potential of the sound cards to emulate the hardware and fast forwarding we have the means of passing traffic with fewer errors and better throughput speeds.
I’m all for CW but if you’re in ARES or RACES or some emergency comms group for your town/county/state it has to be about the message not the mode. I think we need to keep proficiency in voice and code traffic handling, different situations call for different approaches but, machine to machine will be faster and more reliable if we can maintain such a contact.
Check out some of these nets. Even if you can’t send you’ll decode if the PC can hear the radio. Olivia 8-500 and Thor22 are common modes. If you put the Rxid on it should change modes with the sender for you. When/if you get captivated by “sound card”modes there are kit and prebuilt interfacing devices like SignaLink or Eazy Digi for example. Our hobby can be expensive but adding to your station especially when you’ve got the time to build from kits is an investment in yourself as much as your gear. These modes still are peanuts compared to the TNC options such as PACTOR or the AEA TIMEWAVE PK232 PAKRATT.
If you search NBEMS ARRL there’s some nice posted PowerPoints to flip through to point you towards add on software (all free to download for various platforms) I run Linux and it was a little harder than Windows to set up I managed.
Good luck and best 73
