Travis Scott Concert Ends in Tragedy After Rapper Accidentally Kills 1,000 Fans With Flamethrower
Tumblr media
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - What was supposed to be a night of high energy music and pyrotechnics took a dark turn last night when rapper Travis Scott, known for his adrenaline pumping performances and elaborate stage effects, accidentally unleashed an industrial grade flamethrower on the audience, resulting in the tragic deaths of 1,000 concert-goers.
Scott, who is known for pushing the envelope at his live shows, has been experimenting with flamethrowers as a part of his “Blazin’ La Flame”tour. Fans were ready for the usual fiery spectacle, but they were not prepared for what would follow when Scott took things a bit too far. Sources at the scene say that the “Sicko Mode” rapper was seen wearing what he described as a “super enhanced pyrotechnic backpack,” which he reportedly told fans would “take the show to the next level.”
The accident occurred as Scott shouted, “Let’s turn up the heat!” and pulled a level on his flamethrower rig. According to eyewitnesses, a massive blast of fire engulfed the crowd within seconds. At first, concert-goers thought the flames were just special effects to enhance Scott’s performance, but when thousands started screaming in agony for their lives, people realized that this wasn’t just part of the show.
“Honestly, I thought it was just part of the show at first,” said concert-goer Jake Alvarez. “Like, he’s always doing some crazy shit on stage, you know? But then I saw people actually on fire, and I was like ‘Oh shit, this is getting a little too real.’”
In a hastily organized statement to the media, Scott expressed “shock” and “disbelief” and what happened at his concert. “I just wanted to give my fans a lit experience, but I guess I misjudged the limits of ‘lit,’” he explained, visibly shaken. “I didn’t mean for things to get THAT hot.”
The rapper’s PR team has gone on to issue their own clarifying statement, claiming that the flamethrower was intended to only be used on stage and had been mistakenly pointed at the audience due to a “malfunction in the rigging setup.” “Travis is deeply saddened by this incident and is currently in discussions with his team on how to prevent such tragedies in the future,” Scott’s manager, David Stromberg, told reporters. “We will be revisiting our definition of ‘lit’ for all future shows.”

Todays rip: 26/02/2024
Shopping on Star Road
Season 2 No Album Release (Read More) Game Over (OST Version) - Super Mario World
Ripped by sadkey
youtube
Requested by bobthetacocat! @bobthetacocat
There's a part of me that really doesn't quite know how to approach this rip in particular, for a few reasons. Sure, I've covered hip-hop themed rips on the blog before, including other lo-fi ones like Yoshi's Cookie World and Stickerbrush State of Mind - but with those and others, I've felt like I've had a story attached to them to tell, to sort of make up for my lack of knowledge on the rap scene in general. I still heard the name "Lil Peep" around from time to time, but knew nothing about the guy or his work - and further wasn't even aware that he's now been away from us for close to seven years, after his passing in 2017. Like I said with Through the F-F-Fire and the F-F-Flames, there's an added difficulty in talking about someone's legacy after the fact when you never really felt like you knew them to begin with. Those were, at least, the thoughts I had when receiving the request to cover Shopping on Star Road. And then I listened to it - and then, I dug deeper.
On SoundCloud's official Wikipedia page, Lil Peep is one of ten artists listed as examples under the "SoundCloud Rap" sub category, a label many of you are likely more familiar with than I've ever been. I recognized the names of several of the other listed examples, of course - XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, Juice Wrld - yet never put it together that they were all born under the same umbrella, the umbrella of SoundCloud as a platform. This community formed of creators expressing themselves with as much honesty and raw emotion as possible, a sort of re-emergence of emo expressions as told by individual rising stars...The more I read, the more fascinated I became - and, of course, given my brainrot, I couldn't help but draw parallels to the SiIvaGunner channel itself.
Much of the joy of SoundCloud as a platform is how...unrestricted it is, as a platform. There's little in the way of licenses, little moderation, no reason for quality control - from what I've gathered without using it, its able to act much like your average social media in that you can post practically anything (that isn't hate speech) and have a chance of getting noticed. There's little pressure to perform, little direct monetization: it is, in its purest form, an audio playground. The idea of "SoundCloud Rap" came about from that culture as a result, to just perform and release something without the pressure of a perfect mix, of perfect vocals and mastering, effectively "venting" in the form of music. There's an aura of sincerity to rap music like Lil Peep's Star Shopping, with a simple beat that sets an immaculate vibe alone, with vocals that speak from the heart, with flow carried by emotion despite the music's simplicity.
And, like, I know it sounds a bit insincere to draw a connection between this thing that I'm not very invested in, and the thing this blog is about that I am VERY invested in, but...that sort of sincerity has always been a huge part of SiIvaGunner's appeal to me. Be it in stupid bits where the mask of the parody occasionally slips with a laugh, such as Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday - as performed by Bob Dylan, or mashups where you can feel that each source was picked out with affection like vs SAYU (Based Version), there's an aura to many SiIvaGunner rips that make you feel...connected to the people behind them. A connection not all too dissimilar to the one formed between the artist and listener with music as unfiltered as SoundCloud's often is.
There's that, and of course that several of the team's oldest rippers, such as toonlink of Dr. Soulja fame, initially got their start doing the very same thing they do now on SiIvaGunner, but on SoundCloud. It was this messing around with other "rippers" as part of what was then called the "SoundClown" community that SiIvaGunner creator Chaze the Chat cites as the primary inspiration for starting the channel all the way back in Season 1. With this shared history in mind, Shopping on Star Road gains a new sort of meaning - a sendoff from one side of SoundCloud's old guard from another, in tribute to a rapper who passed just as SiIva's own first season ended. It obviously helps that ripper sadkey has a fantastic ear for what he does, and would later go on to make one of the channel's most underrated rips of all time in Unstable Connection. sadkey, Lil Peep, the sentimentality born from the shared history on SoundCloud, and the Super Mario World Game Over theme itself, come together to make Shopping on Star Road one of the most soul-healing listens on the channel.
I never knew much of Lil Peep, nor know much of just how much he impacted people. But I can feel a connection to both him and the people who miss him through Shopping on Star Road and its comment section alone.

DURKALINI ANNOUNCES NEW SURF GANG-PRODUCED LP CHURCH & SURF – OUT 08/15 VIA SURF GANG RECORDS
Tumblr media
Following the release of lead single "BOTTEGA BOOTS", Alabama-grown newcomer Durkalini has just announced that his new SURF GANG-produced LP CHURCH & SURF will arrive later this week on August 15th. An artist hailed for his off-the-wall bars and rapturous flows, the announcement follows Durkalini's previous collaboration with SURF GANG headmaster evilgiane on the Fergie-interpolating, Woesum-assisted "GLAMOROUS" from evilgiane's critically-acclaimed #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1 project, released earlier this year.
Known for his genre-bending pluggnb sound that blends elements of Atlanta trap and Milwaukee bounce, Durkalini first exploded onto the scene with breakout single "BMF 4", which earned the former championship-winning University of Alabama football player co-signs from the likes of Doja Cat and Rx Papi.
CHURCH & SURF arrives on the heels of an exciting year for SURF GANG and evilgiane — after receiving a 2024 GRAMMY "Best Rap Performance" nomination for his work on Kendrick Lamar & Baby Keem's"The Hillbillies", he's since released both a collab album with Slimesito, EVILSLIME, as well as January mixtape #HEAVENSGATE VOL. 1.
The project boasted features from the likes of Rx Papi,454, Xaviersobased, Nettspend, 03Greedo, and FLEE and was instantly met with critical acclaim from The FADER, Stereogum, Hypebeast, and Pitchfork. Recent months have seen SURF GANG join forces with Massachusetts singer LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) on their collaboration tape JACK & THE BEANSTALK as well as Inglewood artist Bbyafricka on new EP HARD COPY.

I'm not great at these kinds of posts but I'd really like to help a friend out! Especially since I'm versed in Tumblr where some people might not get much advertisement.
I have a coworker friend who's a small musician and I'd like to help him grow his stuff because in my opinion his music is fucking amazing and he's criminally underrated.
If you're interested in trap and rap music and you'd like to find smaller artists to support please go check out his work.
Link to his insta is here, and these are some of my favorite songs

Brawl Erupts At Delaware Prep School Over OTF Vs 4KT Argument
Tumblr media
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE - In what school administrators are calling the most senseless act of violence in the school’s history, a full scale brawl erupted at Wilmington Prep Academy yesterday after a heated argument about what collective reins supreme in modern Hip-Hop: OTF or K4T.
The incident reportedly began in the cafeteria, when tenth grader Oliver Robinson claimed that the Hip-Hop collective OTF, led by rapper Lil Durk, had “way more street cred than 4KT.” Not one to let his favorite artist be slandered, fellow student and avid NBA YoungBoy fan, Tyler Simmons, fired back by allegedly saying, “Nah, YoungBoy is way more real than Durk — he stays in his lane, and he doesn’t need features to remain relevant.”
According to several eyewitnesses, tensions had been building for weeks, with students divided into two camps: those loyal to Lil Durk’s OTF and those who were in fierce defense of NBA YoungBoy’s 4KT crew. Classrooms, lunch tables, and even the gymnasium had become unofficial “debate stages” for the two groups. Teachers even reported confiscating notebooks filled with “diss tracks” penned by students.
However, the cafeteria dispute would quickly escalate when Simmons attempted to end the argument by yelling, “YoungBoy better!” Oliver would respond to this by shouting, “it’s OTF for life!” This exchange reportedly ignited a chain reaction of chest puffing, territorial stomping, and eventually, a full a full on brawl, with both sides being alleged to have thrown punches and even some chairs.
One teacher, Preston Burns, described the scene as “like a scene out of 8 Mile but with suburban, white high schoolers.” He added,” “It’s wild that these kids have such loyalty to these rappers that they’ll never meet. I mean, they don’t even know what either of those stupid acronyms stand for.”
The fight was eventually broken up by several aides, but due to the pure size of the brawl, this proved difficult as the fight quickly spread across campus. When asked why students felt so strongly about these Hip-Hop affiliations, Oliver explained, “OTF is all about loyalty — you gotta stand with you nig- uh, I mean, people. We’re all part of something bigger than this school. It’s a movement, you feel me?”
All students who were involved in the fight have been permanently expelled from Wilmington Prep Academy, and a new ban on “gang-like affiliations” has also been put in place, effectively banning all discussion on OTF and 4KT.

OMFG by Lil Peep
youtube
Honestly I wish that I had any interest in rap outside of Post Malone and anything made past 2007 when I was a teenager (despite not being part of the age bracket that was old enough to appreciate the latter in the height of its popularity).
I think I would have had an easier time in high school had I had any interest in Lil Peep (or Juice WRLD, or XXXTentacion). But of course since they were wildly popular with the popular kids in school, I refused to have anything to do with the music because I didn't want to associate myself in any way with those twats. They barely understood the music as it was and just thought it was about having as much sex as often as possible, partying, and glorifying all the most horrendous parts of addiction... including watching all your friends overdose and die while you're too high to realize what's happening.
They all thought
"man"
"that's the life I want to have"
"just too high to care"
"and everyone thinks I'm cool for being on too much lean, xanax, and cocaine to care"
It is horrifying not medically being able to care. It feels like being trapped in a cage, but anything outside that cage scares the shit out of you. And they wanted that. Not in the warning signs of someone potentially being an addict one day, but in the way of a dumb kid who's gonna go out and buy coke but end up dead and alone, abandoned by their friends at a house party because it was cut with enough fentanyl to kill a horse.
I just hope that none of them end up doing that, as angry as their misinterpretations and glorification of addiction made me. Nobody deserves to become addicts, and no one deserves to overdose.
I'd rather they have grown up to become dickheads rather than not grow up at all.
