My Hero Academia: America Headcanons

Here are just some headcanons I'd come up with for the Hero and Quirk system in the US of My Hero Academia.

There is a LOT less restriction on quirk usage. It's still illegal for untrained people to use powers to fight villains, but there's way less restrictions on quirk usage in differing fields including construction, art, medicine, emergency rescue, and even everyday life. It's not uncommon to see people using their quirks for more mundane stuff. People with mobility quirks use them instead of vehicles, chefs who have fire quirks use them in restaurants, and there's even specialized units of police, emergency service workers, and Firefighters who are allowed to use their quirks in their jobs to act as backup to Heroes.

Corporate superheroes, while a thing in other countries too, are much more prevelant in America. Lots of companies scout out heroes and offer them resources like equipment, training facilities, and nice offices in exchange for endorsing their products or organization. They especially focus on heroes from low income backgrounds but with skills and charisma who might have more of an interest in the money.

Emblems are a big thing in American hero society. All the top rated pro-Heroes have their own symbol, and many heroes try to make their own to catch on. What the symbol is depends on the hero. Sometimes, it's a letter of their hero/real name or an icon that represents their powers. Corporate heroes generally use their companies logo. Most hero schools have their own logos that the students usually put on their costumes until they graduate.

Since Rhode Island is the birthplace of the Hero system, Rhode Island is a pretty big tourist destination and hero capital, on par with places like New York or Tokyo. The American equivalent to U.A., the Rhode Island School For Heroic Individuals, is also located there.

Team ups and Hero teams are a lot more common in America. They're usually treated like celebrities or musicians signing on with certain labels or studios. Lots of kids who want to be hereos dream of getting recruited to join their favorite hero teams after they go pro.

So I’ve been joking for a while about how Inko manages to afford all of Izuku’s AM merch

But I decided to nerd out and look closer, and I’m pretty sure the only expensive piece Izuku owns is the poster he got from Sir

You might think his dorm looks absolutely stacked

but that’s only because it’s a very small room and he brought every piece he owns

If you look in his old room it’s all the same posters

so he’s owned it all for at least a few years, he’s been working up to this for god knows how many years, just to be the proud owner of 5 posters so basic even he would put tape on them

All of his figures are less than 50$

One of which he’s had since he was a child

And it doesn’t look like the other unidentified figures are anything special either(except maybe AM in his yellow suit)

Izuku only has generic fanboy shit, like maybe one of the posters is a custom but I honestly I don’t think he owns a single special anything

The dead guy poster is 100% the coolest thing he has, no wonder he’s so reverent about it 💀

So yeah Inko isn’t dropping stacks on merch, I’m pretty sure those sweaters were a 2 for 1 deal because they’re almost identical 💀

Exchange StudentToshinori, who arrived in America and was immediately greeted by you the class rep. Toshinori who was loud, eccentric and always smiling immediately taking your hand to shake. The action making you scowl slightly as you mumbled a halfhearted welcome, yawning afterwards.

Exchange StudentToshinori, who followed you around everywhere, always appearing, always shouting something and always finding you. You secretly pretending to be bothered but enjoyed the one on one attention

Classmate Toshinori, who noticed you were always alone, class rep and everyone said hi to you but always ate alone, studied alone. Toshinori who joined you every chance he got. You were the first to great him! And in return he believed you needed company.

Classmate Toshinori, who was impressed by your quirk and your ability to use it so well, begging you almost every day to train with him. You would always say no and tease him before finally relenting.

Toshinori, who was saved by your quirk in the midst of battle, caught of guard by the building falling down atop him till you formed one of your spheres round him, keeping him safe.

Toshinori, who brought you out everytime he went somewhere different in the city whether it was out for food, a walk or to shop. Toshinori who paid for everything you wanted to get, whether it was food or just glancing at a dress in the window, leaving your face red but very appreciative.

CrushToshinori, who made you nervous when he came round, never having spent so much time with someone or had much interests from boys. Toshinori who loved hearing about your day at lunch after school.

CrushToshinori, who had to go back to Japan but promised to call you everyday and told you to come over when you both graduated in the summer. Toshinori who told you you could stay in his house.

BoyfriendToshinori, who smiled as he greeted you at the airport entrance. Toshinori who was swamped by paparazzi calling him All Might but all he focused on was you as he grabbed your waist and lifted you up, that big grin on his face as you hugged him back.

BoyfriendToshinori, who trusted you enough to tell you about his quirk’s history knowing one day you would see him in his old state and understood if you no longer wanted to date him. Toshinori who peppered you with kisses and a big hug when you told him you didn’t care what he would look like. He’d always be your hero.

BoyfriendToshinori, who when interviewed whether professionally or on the street always wound up talking about you and how amazing you were, leaving you blushing as you watched it later on Tv.

So. Imagine something absolutely tragic happens, I’m talking like a person comes home with a birthday cake to find their partner dead or dying on floor.

They drop the cake (obviously) they call emergency services all that.

Okay, now, pretend you are one of the police arriving on scene. Everyone else has a job, you are a little bit superfluous but still. You look to the side… the cake dropped is an ice cream cake.

If left on the floor, it’s going to start to melt, leaving even more of a mess for this horribly traumatized person to clean up when they return.

Or you can put it in the freezer, but will they want to still have the cake after? Would it be a reminder of this horrible event?

Should you throw it away then? That’s such a waste of cake and the money they spent, especially if they don’t have a lot of money.

Should you leave it there then? But what about the mess?

Came in standing on a high speed jet, literally clapped the main villian, nuked the villian, sacrificed herself give the world a chance, weakened the main villian significantly and made him shit his pants and then dipped from existence while saluting and smiling.

Absolute peak. American muscle mommy for the win. All might would be fucking proud. Rest in peace Cassie. You Absolute hero.

watched the epic bakudeku battle where katsuki learns about one for all but there were people in the room with me so now I'm rewatching it the next day, by myself, where no other noise or movement can cause a distraction and I can give it my full attention and fucking sob my goddamn eyes out without judgment from my peers
