I need to show off my country a little bit! P'tit Belliveau is an artist from Canada, singing in chiac. What is chiac? It's actually a variant form of canadian french, spoken in the east of the country. It's honestly pretty cool sounding, and sadly not valued enough. Anyway, his videos are very 80's/90's graphics inspired (with a lot of weird ass CGI lately hahaha) and he just seems really friendly I love him

Of course a lot of people here will know them, as they were selected for eurovision 2020 (I have been following them since like 2014 and I was HEARTBROKEN when esc 2020 was cancelled I wanted them to win so bad haha). I have to speak about him because he's the person who started me on this weird music journey all the way back in 2009 (my mom HATES him for that HAHAHA I haven't been normal since). DJ Ozma was the pop side project of rock band Kishidan's lead singer, Ayanocozey Show. It lasted only for 3 years but oh boy what incredible 3 years they were. He was mostly doing japanese covers of kpop songs, with some original ones from time to time.

Momoiro Clover started as a fairly standard jpop idol group back in 2008 (I've been following them since then, it has been a while lol). In the following years, one of their members decided to leave to pursue an acting career instead. They switched the group name to Momoiro Clover Z and all the videos took such a turn, it was quite the whiplash. And it was for the BEST, they're aliens in the idol world, including the fact that some members are pushing 30 now! Their style is mostly back to normal nowadays, but they've still produced gems

Theory/Over-Analysis: "...Infinite Pleasure Spawning" Part 1: Overview/Review

While I was waiting for the listing of the Wazubela "Duo" R18 appendix booklet to come back up, I managed to get my hands on Annouu_ronpa's "Yokubou Tamago Club". The story in question to-day is the second section of the book.

Full Title: "A Mixture of Mystery and Blasphemy ♥ The Infinite Pleasure Spawning Drama". Somehow even longer than "A Certain Sage…"'s full title. I'm writing this three-parter about this doujin just to get it out of my head. I feel like if I ever see another egg, I'm gonna go crazy. Part One will just be a review, Part Two will be random observations, and Part Three will be the Pandora's Box theory I've hinted at and other miscellaneous theories I thought of afterwards.

Either way… Have I finally found a doujin that made me think, "Wow, what the hell was the author smoking?" when I read it? Yes. Yes, I have. It's this one. If you think "A Certain Sage…" is weird, you have seen NOTHING yet. NOTHING.

PLOT: Believe it or not, it has a plot. Belaf starts laying eggs. Repeatedly. Can it be stopped? And if so, how? …Wazukyan to the rescue…? Again, I'll avoid spoilers here, but Parts Two and Three WILL spoil the ending (because a few of my theories hinge on the final few pages).

Thematically, it's very similar to "A Certain Sage…", in the sense that it's Belaf getting tormented for fun and Wazukyan continues to have one braincell to his name.

But, there's just something about this doujin that makes me feel really, REALLY weird, but I can't put my finger on what. It's not the art, nor the narration. Not the tone, either. It's not so much the ending, or even the egg-laying concept. There's just something about it that's… "OFF". Not "off-putting", but just… "Off".

It's like the doujin equivalent to "The Twilight Zone". Somewhere beyond mortal comprehension. As if I'm reading something that I'm not supposed to; that I've gained knowledge that I shouldn't know. That I'm seeing something that I shouldn't be seeing. I have no idea.

At least it came with this cool bookmark.

8/10. Mostly for the art. The art is beautiful. But, it's just so damn weird that I can't justify giving it a 10/10.

(Also, I just realised the impeccable irony of reviewing the EGG doujinshi so close to Easter LOL).

The Magnificent Century

I guess most of DoD readers have also watched Muhteşem Yüzyıl (The Magnificent Century). Truth be told, I have never watched it because it's too cringey for me. Those harem ladies with their perfect beach waves and dresses made from cheap-looking fabrics and knock-off jewelry is not something I would like to see. While it has some very good actors and actresses, I can never sit through those long-ass Turkish dramas anyway. But there are things I like about it.

- Suleiman's absolute repulsion in this gif. I don't even know the context, but this gif is sometimes perfect for expressing my feelings.

- Hürrem's angry outburst and meme videos I keep seeing on Instagram and Youtube.

- Hürrem's actress' accent. Meryem Uzerli was born and raised in Germany, so she speaks Turkish with an actual accent, not a fake one. And that gives accuracy (and cuteness) points to this production. As you know, Hürrem learned Turkish after she became a slave, so she must have spoken Turkish with an accent -like most of the harem ladies-. Actually, we kind of have supporting evidence for that. I can't read Ottoman Turkish so this is second-hand knowledge, but there is a visible difference between the letters written by her scribe and by Hürrem herself. While the former has better ortography, prettier handwriting and a much more formal tone, the latter is more intimate and kind of reflect the way she spoke. Suleiman praises her for improving her writing in some of his letters too. From what I can tell, they used a different manner of speaking in the harem 500 years ago which sounds cute to me. I can totally picture harem ladies speaking that cute Turkish with different accents.

- This series of PVs for the Japanese broadcast of Muhteşem Yüzyıl:

Osuman Teikoku Gaiden - Ai to Yokubou no Haremu-, which roughly translates to "An Ottoman Tale - Harem of Love and Desire-" looks so dramatic that I love it. I wish it had a Japanese dub; now that'd make me watch this show :)

I'm still surprised that it aired in so many different countries, and even on Netflix. I know that many people started reading Drops of Dreams thanks to Muhteşem Yüzyıl, I hope you are enjoying your stay.

Things I found out from reading the sarazanmai novel

Otone is a soccer nut too (she’s tomboyish and sporty) and the advisor for their school team

Enta has a bad habit of buying a lot of things online (the anime just made it sound like Otone was yelling at him in general)

The Sarazanmai vortex makes you /feel things/ like... pleasure... yokubou...

Reo pulling Mabu’s heart out also makes him feel pleasure (????)

Nyantaro is a female cat (though this was shown at the end of the anime but implication went right over my head)

There was a boy costume for the male pair too in the Hanayshiki Bee Couple event but Toi just refused to wear it (I should have realized this cuz Enta had worn one)

Haruka’s dad is a designer and renovated the house so it’s wheelchair accessible

The Yasakas all wear matching striped clothing. Kazuki used to wear them until he found out about his real parents. He doesn’t wear it them again until after he saves Haruka from the Otter Empire.

Kazuki is actually the son of Haruka’s dad’s brother. So neither of the adults are his biological parents. (Glad that’s the case because it gave Kazuki more reason to feel disconnected from them)

Miyano Mamoru's Radio Smile (30 March 2019)

Fan-mail from Sachie: I watched the anime, Sarazanmai. that is a hot topic right now. In the first episode, the police officers Reo and Mabu who had a meaningful appearance, stated to sing a song, Kawausoiya, in the second episode to my surprise! What is that song!? Because of it's impact, I listened to it a couple of times, so it remained in my ear and has been playing in my head for the whole time at work! Mamo-chan's and Hosoyan's 'Kawausoiya!' harmony after 'Yokubou no tebanasuna'. It's awesome. There are still a lot of mysteries in the story, so I'm looking forward to see the relationship between the Kappa and the officers. There are a lot of co-starring with Hosoya-san, such as Free! and Bungo Stray Dogs, it wouldn't be weird to have a character song duet, so I had expectations. Congratulations on being able to make it come true from an unexpected part.

Miyano: That's right.

Sachie: I would like to hear the recording's backstage stories with Hosoya-san or your first impressions of 'Kawausoiya'.

Miyano: For real, my wish! My wish for singing a duet with Hosoya-san! It finally became true. 

Because you know, we have been doing almost every best friends. In Show by Rock!!, we have been acting as best friends. Yes... Valvrave. We could have sang as X-eins and H-neun. We acted in a movie called Hal too... It's nostalgic...

I like Hosoya-san’s songs very much. I even listen to his character songs on my own. I always wanted to sing together with him... Then my wish came true. I always thought "I want to sing a duet very much". I really feel happy that it finally became real. And it's Kawa- it's Kawau~soiya~~!, you know! The song is too entertaining! I think it's a very exquisite song. It's fun while singing too, and when I first heard the demo song, I thought "What is this?! It's so entertaining and interesting!. So I'll be able to sing this with Hosoya-san", I thought. I felt extremely touched...

The recording itself was done separately, Hosoya-san sang it first. As expected it was great. Mabu is a very straightforward character, a cool person type of role, so Hosoya-san sang it in a cool and straightforward way. He sang it as a serious character.

That's why I though I should do Kawausoiya. I added a bit of seasoning. The director was there, so I did it while discussing with him. So I'm the one who mostly made it go overboard. Like Kawau~ Like soiya~ -ga- There is no ga though. 

Please expect things from these two from now on...

This song was originally released as a joint digital single (arranged by Yuasa Kouichi)  by Berryz Koubou and C-ute for their joint stage play Sengoku Jieitai, which later got remade as a Berryz-only musical. However, both groups later released a physical copy of the song in their respective albums (Berryz’s album arrangement was by Uesugi Hiroshi and C-ute’s by Takahashi Yuichi), hence the sheer number of credit tags.
