Here's something I haven't seen anybody bring up. I was wondering if this particular line of Irumyuui's was just a translation error or not… Because now, I don't think it is???

When talking about the Abyssal Curse in her native language, Iru consistently says "Mazya", but Belaf says "Maja".

This means either one of two things:

1. Belaf, perfectionist as he is, has been pronouncing the very word for "Great Pit" wrong this whole time OR 2. Irumyuui speaks in baby-talk even in her native tongue!

Because this is consistent even in the original Japanese!!!

���So... I don't know which is more likely?!

Has Belaf blanked on his pronunciation or does Irumyuui have a lisp??? Who knows!

For some reason, I had the urge to draw *him*, and it was initially just gonna be a sketch, but then it turned into a full piece, haha- I miss drawing Made in Abyss characters, especially my boy Belaf and his crew 🥲

The worst part about writing until like 3am is waking up and having to edit everything because your writing looks like

I was asking the group chat I'm in for drawing requests and @goomyloid gave me the idea to draw any of the MiA characters as a blessed narehate and I thought it'd be good to do Vueko : ) she must be.... and she will be stinky too

I also used my blessed Belaf design on the last drawing! Because he HAS to be blessed too... everyone has to!!!

A question to those who are more familiar with Made in Abyss than I am (contains mia spoilers for season 2)

Belaf was horrified when he found out that he was being fed cooked infants of Iru and suffered tremendously because of this knowledge, never recovering from it. When he asked Iru to punish him for eating her children (even when it wasn’t his choice), Belaf was turned into the snake monster, who ironically is a cannibal to survive.

Was Belaf turning into a cannibal monster Iru’s punishment or Belaf “wish” coming true, as I understood the Abyss (through Iru) fulfills the wishes of the things we value the most? For Belaf, the value was in some way the lives of Iru’s children, which he didn’t want to consume but now needs to continue cannibalism to stay alive.

He clearly didn’t like it either, as Belaf was so eager and hasty to accept - with any price - the immortal infinite source of food instead of needing to kill his fellow people for his food.
