It's just episode 2 and I'm in love with how this show does intimacy of any sort, let alone sex. I get why we're all losing it over how wandee is okay with the necklace thing but not with kissing, but that's the perfect example. First we see Wandee make it extremely clear that kissing is out of bounds because it carries a certain emotional significance for him. The fact that he calls it silly but still enforces it strongly is an excellent way to put across that yes, he doesn’t think kissing is always carried romantic connotations and such, but it is special for him. He isn't assuming that Yoryak's desire to kiss him is a sign of romantic feelings either (and imo neither is yoryak at this point). They're not using a rulebook or scale of what various sorts of intimacy mean, they're assuming nothing and communicating what they want and do not want at each step. And when Yoryak puts the necklace on him and kisses that instead, it's a new thing for them. For Yoryak, it scratches the itch of wanting to kiss him. It doesn't have the emotional weight in Wandee's mind that a kiss has, and maybe that allows him to explore this brand new relationship, test its shape and its boundaries in ways less burdened with expectations for him. There's time yet before their own newfound intimacies take on a new meaning as their feelings for each other change, and I can't wait to see how well they communicate about that.

It's so fitting that Amethio was present when Liko's Nyahoja evolved given that he's been involved in most of Liko's important steps as a trainer so far.

He is the reason Liko's pendant activated its powers for the first time in the series (when it had been dormant for decades before that point) which made Liko want to know more about its mysteries, Nyahoja managed to use her Leafage at full power against him back in HZ002 (and with her backstory from HZ040 in perspective, it was significant that Nyahoja stopped holding back at that moment).. Their narratives kept being intertwined every step of the way, Liko catching her first Pokemon and deciding the kind of trainer she wants to be in HZ021 was immediately followed by Amethio being woven back into the story and appearing in contrast.

In fact, Liko wanting to become stronger in the first place was in relation to Amethio, too.

Liko specifically brought up Amethio in HZ007 and the fact that not being able to do anything against him left her frustrated (in comparison, Roy's motivations were tied to Rayquaza). She learned that feeling of frustration for the first time because of him, which gave her the resolve to grow stronger.

Even now at the end of the first year, Amethio is still acting as a source of motivation of sorts to Liko, albeit differently.

Liko asks Friede how they can use Terastal, and Roy brings up that Lizardon was amazing, to which Liko adds that Amethio's Soublades was amazing too! She thinks of Soublades positively and was impacted by the experience, and may see it as a kind of inspiration.

Amethio went from someone Liko couldn't trust, to someone she can thank and maybe consider as someone she wants to reach too. I wonder if Amethio will be involved somehow if Nyarote evolves in Masquernya in the future.

Another Random TADC Theory

While I was ruminating on the trailer for episode 2, a thought occurred to me: Since a shotgun was shown in the shot of the gang inside the candied eighteen wheeler…

…Perhaps this is the episode where we get to see Kinger go completely gun toting crazy!

Originally I thought the clip of Kinger with a shotgun being framed in shadows implied that he would get the firearm in the ghost episode, but now I’m convinced he’s going to get his hands on it in the upcoming episode and just completely wreck Gummigoo and his gang.

I could be making something out of nothing given how I really want to see this middle aged chess piece snap and just start blasting, but it’s at least something to think about.

its so hard for me to not gush abt how much i love hermitcraft and the hermits like every day. I was watching a rendog stream and somehow it got onto the topic of Titanic and he went on this tangent about how its a story about your first love, and how its the most wonderful love you will ever experience, but it can only exist in that moment and the only way that love could have been preserved is at the bottom of the ocean. and im like hes so right and i'm crying and also hes playing minecraft.

These screenshots do not do justice to just how comforting Game is in this moment. His voice is so, so soft and kind and he doesn't try to pretend like Diew didn't just completely bomb the presentation, but he's also offering very honest and practical reasons for Diew to feel better. Sometimes when friends try to comfort you and they tell you that it's not a big deal or it wasn't as bad as it seems, it feels more like they're downplaying or not acknowledging how awful you feel but I like that Game isn't doing that.

But most importantly, he's not letting Diew face it alone:

I know everyone has things on their plate and so sometimes it's not always possible to offer to walk with someone through the difficult thing, but when someone DOES offer, goodness it can feel so, so good!

MND is so good at portraying genuinely good friendships. God's entire friend group, while chaotic, is just so enthusiastically supportive of each other. And I love that Diew and Game's friendship is built on these genuine moments of connection and common interest. You can really see why they're friends. Sometimes in shows there's a sense that if these people weren't just in the same class/thrown together by the situation, they may not really be friends but Diew and Game's friendship feels like they'd've found each other even if they weren't in the same class(es?) together (probably through seeing each others names on the same books they borrow from the library or some other cute shit like that). Literally every time they're together its just wholesome and lovely and good. <3

First thoughts on Love in the Air Koi

The production quality is really good, probably better than the Thai version. The episodes and series itself are shorter, but you hardly miss what is cut. Some parts actually feel better streamlined. The series feels a bit more realistic in parts like the underground race. Even if it's in the book, it never felt realistic to shut down an entire freeway section. The part where Arashi takes Rei back to his apartment feels more like an oops moment where he thought Rei was a willing participant and less cringe. (Said with all the love of the Thai series I have).

I think the one criticism I have is that the actors need more energy. Especially Hamaya Takuto. Noeul might have spoiled me for the role, but I think Rei should be feistier. Especially in the apartment scene.

All in all, the show does an excellent job of making me feel like I am watching something new, especially with the cultural differences.

Seeing blitz trying to apologize to stolas the best he could, even though he’s severely out of his element, while also being at a yearly party created for all the people he hurt messed me up.

Kudos to stolas for finding the words to express how he feels, about wanted to be wanted, wanting to be loved. AND ALSO FRICKING SLAYING HIS HEART OUT AT THAT SONG! I’m so dejected I’m currently clogged in one ear so i couldn’t hear it fully. That what the rewatch is for~

Verosika looked absolutely stunning this episode! and her reasoning for hosting the party, not just for her, but for everyone else blitz had hurt is so wholesome. AND finally getting some backstory on how blitz and her had broken up. She got so much character development this episode and I’m so happy for her. 🥹
