Yk this actually started as a second pass at @ratblazer 's DTIYS but I got a little bit excited about light pens and ended up here. At least, I think that's what happened. I got the memory of a gnat, you know how it be
the temperature dropped, the clouds vanished, the light became cold grey, I could see the stars in the afternoon sky, and people all around me were screaming as a gleaming black void opened up above us in the dark
and
idk how to put it into words, but something feels really fucked up about going back to work after that lol
Q: there was a suggestion this week from someone that you don't have the hunger.
LH: there are people with very short, short minded [people], that make the comments that they do. not knowing the work that's being done in the background. one thing i hope, and i never want to do is in the future, when i one day stop and [am] looking back on the youth or the next driver generation i want to be encouraging to them. and let them know it's okay to make mistakes and just being inspiring rather than shooting them down. that's the kind of figure that i want to be.
You may be asking: what why? And the simple answer is this,, I binged the natm movies with my sister and finished reading Early Riser (7.5/10 pretty slay) and I draw too much so :/
Tired: Tom and Jerry are enemies who hate each other and only form temporary alliances when they want to achieve a common goal.
Wired: Tom and Jerry are best friends, but Tom has to act like he hates Jerry to protect them both from his owners.
Inspired: Tom and Jerry have a complicated and complex relationship that cannot be forced into restrictive parameters such as "friendship" and "rivalry". The term that best defines their relationship is "frenemy", but even that word simplifies their dynamic considerably. To say that Tom and Jerry are best friends, but act hostile towards each other simply to keep a façade for Tom's owners would be grossly inaccurate. There are many cartoons where Tom is mean, sometimes even cruel, to Jerry simply because he can (without his owners telling him to) or when Jerry annoys and/or tries to get Tom kicked out of the house just for fun. At the same time, stating that their relationship is based solely on hate is incorrect as well. Every single time when they finally managed to get rid of each other, Tom and Jerry have found themselves bored out of their minds and unable to operate properly. They need their chases, their dynamic, their typical formula (aka each other) in order to normaly function. For them, their relationship is both a source of familiarity (which they find comforting) and a source of unpredictability (which manages to keep things interesting). That familiarity and that unpredictability is what keeps them going and what keeps them coming back to each other everytime. To summarize, Tom and Jerry aren't your typical friends or your typical enemies. They don't trust, don't really like and don't really get along with each other (save for a few occasions). But, at the same time, neither of them would be able to live without the other, they wouldn't be Tom & Jerry then, and the thought of losing one another is equally terrifying and equally unbearable for both of them.
anyway about Miles G constantly getting told he looks/sounds bored/annoyed, i think it kind of grates on him especially after his dad’s death. because as he was growing up with Jeff around, it was generally understood that Miles just looked/sounded like that to people he didn’t really know, and was “warmer” around friends & family, which wasn’t a problem for Rio and Jeff. Like… bro is just chilling. But after Jeff’s death, Miles looks/sounds more lifeless in a way, and this sometimes gets mistaken as him not being sad or affected at all by the death. Of course, this accusation pisses him & his mom & uncle off to an extreme degree, so he actually starts behaving coldly and pushing others away/ignoring them so he doesn’t risk having to hear that bullshit again, which furthers the “Miles is always emotionless and distant” idea in some people’s head. These two things fuel each other, so by the time we, the audience, are introduced to Miles G, it’s kind of second nature to be that “emotionless” blunt/flat person. A note, I don’t think his dad’s death was a private thing, seeing as he was a police captain already, so it’s not like he could really escape random people giving their opinions about it and asking him about it.
Now, if u really wanted to (and this is unrelated to my hc above but it could tie in) you can start to consider the attitude people have about cops in E42, because then you could explore the idea of people being glad a cop died, and Miles not knowing how to handle that because that’s his dad, but as he’s working as the Prowler longer and longer, he’s realizing how useless the cops are for a ton of shit, and how corrupt a lot of them most likely are (since Fisk is involved im going off the assumption he has a ton in his pocket). So, he has an emotional journey and balance to figure out regarding his dad’s death, why he’s the Prowler, if this is worth it, etc etc, but now add the cop issue into the mix :3 normal teenage boy things
When I first moved from the USA to QC in autumn 2020, I was so disabled from my injury that I couldn’t even walk one block to make it to the grocery store.
Today I walked 4 kilometers.
My life is very different now. Sometimes I cry on the floor in front of the mirror because the person in there looks so alien to me.
But sometimes the alien stuff isn’t so scary. Sometimes it’s a bench in a park that I’ve never gotten to sit in before, because now I can finally get to it.
