a/n: I know some people said not to write this but I desperately want to :( I think this is really self-indulgent but I hope at least one or two people will enjoy this post and maybe find it comforting or relateable. Latina!MOA, I love you !!!
yeonjun
the first thing that came to my head was him getting along with any siblings/cousins you may have
hispanic families are pretty big and he really enjoys being around everyone and getting to know your family
all the tias also try to steal him away from you and like to ask him all kinds of questions about his jobs
they're all impressed with him and he's all red because all the attention makes him shy
later on, they text you being all like "congrats mija, you picked a good one"
I also feel like he would want to impress your parents so badly
he wants to make a great first impression so he bring your mom a pretty bouquet of her favorite flowers and a necklace ("ay no! pesto es de marca buena!")
for your dad, he brings him a fancy liquor bottle and something else he has an interest in (he begs for your help to find the perfect gift and you're all like, "don't worry! he doesn't worry about being gifted things"
ends up buying him fancy watch and your dad is just in shock with the Rolex in his hand
he makes a great impression for say the least
you mom texts him to check on your when you haven't checked in and they even hang out by themselves when you visit home. she called him "hijito"
your dad is a little skeptical (because who's dad isn't) but eventually comes around when yeonjun invites him to a sporting event together. they have a couple drinks, get to talking and he expresses that his intentions with you are serious, which pleases your dad.
soobin
he's so shy when you tell him that your parents are coming to visit because he hadn't thought it would happen so soon
he was only doing practice schedules for that week so he was able to spend time with them when he got home
he begs you to teach him some Spanish so that he can make a good impression and try him best to connect with them, even if they also speak English.
he comes home one night and they're in the living room, you in the kitchen fixing up dinner...he's frozen but manages a small wave and a little "hola~"
your mama finds him very sweet looking and gets up, going him a hug and squishing one of his doughy cheeks.
your dad on the other hand...not very impressed...(latino dads like the mach types for their baby girls and soobin isn't very...yknow)
he notices this and walks over to shake his hand, which your dad reluctantly does
you come into the living room and call everyone for dinner, which happened to be pozole since it was super cold out
soobin loves the meal and it impresses your parents (you've been feeding him mexican dishes to prepare him for their visit and he loves them so you gave nothing to worry about)
you have to facilitate the conversation but the night ends without incident
the next day, you and soobin take your parents out to some sights
he does his best to explain where they were in the little English and Spanish he knew and you're parents appreciate his effort
he buys meals and pays for all four of you and they urge him not to but he insists because he wants to prove that he cares about them and takes care of you on the daily
they enjoy their trip and overall approve of him
beomgyu
he knew that you were hispanic when you first started dating and also begged you to teach him some Spanish so he can impress your parents when he eventually meets them
once you express your family dynamic with him, he becomes a little more understanding
he knew that you struggled to get along with your family because of the choice you'd made to move abroad but never fully understood it until one day when your parents had called you
he had just come home from filming a To Do with the boys that day and he heard you on the phone, so he sat next to you
you let him say hello and he got up and walked off to take a shower
the conversation, like it so often happens to, switch to the topic of you moving away and when you were going to come back
when you let them know you're not coming back and they you were established and had a boyfriend, your mom and dad started to get upset, once again
something a long the lines of "Hija, you can't seriously want to live there forever? What about your family? We miss you? Plus, you should really date someone a little different. Ese muchacho no es hombre."
you go off about how it's not fair how they try to guild you like this and immediately hang up
beomgyu heard a little bit of it and vaguely understood what they'd said so he comes to you to try to help you calm down a little
he holds you while you cry to him about the argument you just had and how they want you to go home and leave him for someone else
he comforts you so well
"I may not understand why they think it's okay to try and tell you what to do, but you're old enough to make your own choices and choose whoever you want to be with. I understand your culture is a little different from mine but I try to understand. we're gonna work this out and I'll make sure they like me."
your smile up and him and go about your night, making dinner and having a nice self care night since he knew you desperately needed it.
taehyun
this guy is so supportive of you, especially because he knows there are struggles that come along with being a foreigner
he is so interested in learning Spanish
he will sit there with you, textbook and notebook on the table, and go over grammar and vocab and everything
he loves practicing with you by saying sweet things and integrating vocab into everyday conversation
he really wants to impress you, and eventually your family
he also wants to connect with you on a deeper level
back to the being a foreigner thing...he really supports you and gets so angry when people say stuff about you in public
you were both at a cafe one time and an older woman kept staring at you
taehyun noticed and tried to move you behind him but she kept looking in your direction
she eventually comes up to you both and starts asking you a bunch of questions that weren't so kind and tyunnie was so annoyed and upset
you, being the nice person you are, patiently answered her questions even if they bothered you as well
once she left, tyun looked at you with his big pretty eyes and asked you if you were okay
you've also had younger girls, around your age, make snarky comments about you In public but taehyun knows exactly what to do in these scenarios
he pulls you in by your waist and kisses you just to shut them up
she loves your differences so much and celebrates them any chance he gets
huening kai
baby loves the food and when you speak to him in spanish
she loves the pet names in Spanish and says they somehow seem more sweet
his favorite would def be "mi amortico"
when you call him that he just melts into a puddle
his favorite one to call you is "bebe" because he thinks it perfectly captures you
like I said, he loves the food
when hes hungry, he now has the habit of just making a simple quesadilla just the way you taught him
he burns himself the first couple tries when flipping the tortilla with his bare hands but he gets the hang of it eventually
he hates that there isn't more Mexican food/ingredients in Korea but whenever its possible, he orders stuff online and surprises you with it!
he will want to learn all of the recipes you know and calls them your cooking dates
oh my goodness...when he meets you parents
they think he's kind of goofy looking (something my parents would say) but they would ultimately deem him a sweet boy
I feel like he is a grandmas boy so he is sticking to your grandma and you the whole time
your grandma feeds him tortillas with limon y sal and he is just so happy eating them
he also wants to learn Spanish so he can communicate better with abuelita (and you ig LMAO)
he loves your culture and how lively it is
he loves dancing with you at these family parties

Yay another fellow Hispanic! Happy Hispanic heritage month love! Please feel free to ignore this if you don’t want to answer but…
How do you think some of the twst characters would react to some of our “horror” characters like la llorona or the duendes or even the isle of the dolls?
I personally think they would get freaked out that some parents used these characters as a way to get us to behave or else lol
My dad would always tell us that he heard the llorona when he was little and that he saw her and it left me traumatized every time I went to Mexico as a little kid
Happy Hispanic Heritage month! I actually prefer latino over hispanic, but I do use both from time to time.
I think different folklore would probably have an equivalent in twst, though I can only talk about Mexican folklore. La llorona is probably one if not the most famous spirit from Mexican folklore (and has a very interesting history in how she developed), but she has a lot of iterations in different cultures, usually referred to as a Lady in White, so i imagine that twst has some sort of equivalent. I think people who would appreciate her and her story would be Vil, Rook, Lilia, Malleus, and Silver.
La isla de las munecas is probably one that most of the cast would find really creepy, but cool too. The quickest way to summarize the story of the island (a chinampa) is that a man found a girl that had drowned in the water, and the next day found a doll in that same spot. He hung the doll to appease her spirit in her memory and to ward off evil spirits; slowly he would collect more and more dolls to appease the girl, until one day he was found dead and drowned in that same spot. Now people worship the island and go to make offerings to the dolls for miracles and blessings. It very much is an unsettling story, but I think Leona, Jade, Floyd, and Ace would be interested in hearing more about it.

People should not kid themselves. Trump hates Latinos and has a history of considering them to be less than human.
The MAGA Trump Hispanophobia was on full display at Madison Square Garden in New York City – a city whose population is 28% of Hispanic origin.
This type of rhetoric and insults was nothing new for Trump...
'Drug dealers, criminals, rapists': What Trump thinks of Mexicans
Ana Navarro: Trump 'putting a target' on Latinos with 'not people' comments
Trump's new pitch to Latinos is predictably insulting
'Poisoning the blood': Trump’s ugliest moments on immigrants
Trump particularly has it in for Puerto Ricans. Perhaps he's too stupid to understand that they are American citizens and can vote in the 50 states.
Apparently Trump wanted to sell Puerto Rico during his term of office.
New York Times: Trump considered selling Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria, former acting Homeland Security chief says
I'm guessing that one of his totalitarian bros in Russia, North Korea, or Saudi Arabia would have been the most interested in such a sale.
If Trump and his pals blatantly speak like this at public rallies, it's likely that what goes on privately in their minds is even more dark and disturbing.

I feel like your criticisms of how She-Ra handles race could also apply to The Owl House. 3/5 of the main kids are POC (or at least coded in Willow and Gus's case ig??) yet no mention of how that relates to the main villain literally being a guy from the 1600s who literally colonized an entire realm and set up institutions that were stifling so he could more easily control the people??? Any mentions of Luz feeling like an unwanted comes purely from her being a 'weirdo' and aside from her saying a couple Spanish words nothing about her gives nods to her heritage much less her being Dominican. I've seen plenty of fans assume she was Mexican, Cuban, etc because she's just that vaguely Hispanic to viewers. Idk I'm Latino and I love the Owl House but it just doesn't feel right to me if that makes sense??
I haven't watched the Owl House (I really should, I'm just busy and preoccupying myself with niche stuff lol) so I can't say much about it, but I've definitely heard a good bunch of the inter-community criticism regarding how that show represents certain identities.
That mention of how Luz speaks a few Spanish words just not being quite enough to specify her as Dominican is interesting to me. From personal experience for my Clois comics, I knew Lois would've been mistaken for Malaysian (because our languages are similar) in the Dyslexia/Typos comic, but I was always planning for Private Interview to make it clear that she was Chinese Indonesian specifically. I think it's telling that Owl House thought those few Spanish words was enough, in comparison. It does make me glad that folks like you are critical enough to not just accept that as representation, because indeed, it's not enough if she could still be read in a monolithic way.
I do get bummed out that a show like Owl House (and to an extent Steven Universe and She-Ra) can get popular for its proximity to whiteness while things like Kipo and the Wonderbeasts isn't talked about as much.
#askjesncin#media criticism#<- bitesize#i will come back to this ask and understand the context once I watch the show. I'm sure it's good even!#I just have a bad habit of not being into anything relevant or popular lmao...I thought maws would fix that for me but Well.

I see that “Latina” in your bio…😔 my Hispanic heart is craving a Hispanic! Reader x Abby or Ellie PLS
【 abby and ellie with a latina!reader hc's 】
a/n: AKJSHFAKJEFNJAN i gotta do it for my latinas. okay to preface, i talk about learning/speaking spanish for a little bit, but i just want to mention that speaking spanish is not integral to latino/hispanic identity and there is nothing wrong at all with not being able to speak spanish. i just wanted to include it because i love learning languages and teaching someone spanish always makes me very happy/excited, so i thought i’d talk about it a little bit. not to mention not all latinos speak spanish as some of them even speak other languages bc latinidad is very diverse! i have hc’s included for those that don’t speak spanish so dw! i also included hc’s about learning portuguese and haitian creole :))
《 ABBY 》
abby is actually quite familiar with spanish because of her friendship with manny. she can speak a little with you, and is more than happy to learn more from you in order to fill in the gaps of what she doesn’t know.
we see in the game that she understands manny when he speaks in spanish to her, and she even uses spanish words here and there.
i feel like even if she were to struggle with speaking she is still really good at understanding.
abby is that one white partner who’s really good at spanish that you look at and think “okay white girl i see you😏”
if you never learned spanish from your family you asked manny to teach you and learned from him just like abby did.
she’s willing to learn about your culture from you and whatever traditions you may have had growing up so you can do them together; i feel like she’s especially interested in different sayings and dichos. but, of course, she’s also interested in swear words and slang.
if you aren’t mexican like manny, you two argue over which words are the right ones to use in front of her while she stares and wonders what the difference is and why it matters.
“i don’t get it. i mean, you both have your own ways of saying that word. what’s the point in arguing about it?”
“because, abby, who says that?”
“i do, cabrona!” manny yelled.
LOVES to be called spanish pet names because she thinks they’re so sweet and romantic, more than english ones (mi vida? mi alma? mi luz? mi mujer? they just have a sort of comfort and love that can’t be found in english)
if you are mexican, she is very familiar with mexican culture and spanish because of manny, so she has a sense of familiarity when you talk about your culture and experience.
if you’re brazilian, she is completely unfamiliar with portuguese but is so excited to learn more about it from you. it's something the two of you can share together, and that's what she loves the most about it.
if you’re haitian, she loves the sound of how you speak french and/or haitian creole and of course asks you to teach her. she thinks it’s important to understand and know the languages you speak if she’s in a committed relationship with you. they’re a part of who you are, so why wouldn’t she want to learn them for you?
learns how to make your favorite dishes because she feels it’s the least she can do; she wants to give you a piece of home because she knows how often you feel homesick and the way you mourn the pieces of your culture that have been lost due to the apocalypse.
listens when you tell her how you wish you could’ve gone to bailes like your mother and father did, that you never got the opportunity to listen to all the styles of music like they did, that there are certain foods you’ll never be able to try.
she listens and rubs your back and comforts you, knowing she has a mission to fulfill. she knows she’s just one person and can’t bring the world back to the way it was before, but she’ll do what she can to help to take away what parts of your pain she can. she asks people in the WLF if any of them have CD’s from the music genres you told her about like cumbia, salsa, bachata, reggaetón, even more traditional music. she goes as far as to go on a day mission to an old store manny’s dad said would have them, even borrowing whatever tapes she can from him.
《 ELLIE 》
she knows the few spanish words she’s always heard people throw around in casual conversation, but she’s never been able to speak or understand it because she’s never had extended exposure to it.
i feel like she’s really curious about the dialect of spanish you use (as in what kind of accent, noticing how sometimes you skip over s’s when you speak, or how maybe you use or sos or vos instead of tú, or that you use more slang/casual words over formal ones) she just wants to know all about it and understand it.
she may have trouble picking up on spanish especially when it comes to conjugation, but she’s still willing to try and wants to learn from you.
if you’re someone who uses spanglish more than just plain spanish, then i feel this is something she DEFINITELY picks up on more easily and uses regularly with you.
or if you’re someone who never got the opportunity to learn spanish but always wanted to, trust that she will somehow, some way, find books while out on patrol that you’ll both be studying from.
if you’re brazilian, she is immediately curious about portuguese and how to speak it. she learns from you earnestly and learns well enough to understand you perfectly even if she struggles with her pronunciation.
if you are mexican, ellie was very touched when she learned about día de los muertos. when she was finally in a better place and able to talk about joel’s death, she asks if she can put a photo of joel on the ofrenda, and even puts sarah’s photo up as well. it made you happy to see her talk about him and to honor him when it’s always been really hard for her.
ellie has always been curious about french but felt like she’d never have the opportunity to learn, but as soon as she hears you speak it she begs you to teach her. she’s more than happy to also learn haitian creole from you because she wants to speak it with you and it makes her happy that you want to share your culture with her.
asks you about any famous songs from your culture you like and scours music store after music store to find a CD or cassette in order to learn them on her guitar for you.
she surprises you one night when she’s practicing her guitar, playing it out of nowhere, and you felt your heart warm and your eyes tear up. it was so comforting and sweet to hear after you hadn’t in years. it meant the world to you.
(don't judge me but as someone who likes these nicknames) she would call you mama or mami if you ask her without hesitation. anything for her girl.
(let’s pretend this is before joel dies or that he never did) when she learns of colombian coffee and how your family used to love it, she IMMEDIATELY goes to ask joel if there’s any way to get her hands on it, to which he tells her that most likely not. he explains that the beans used to be grown in colombia, so there’s little chance of them getting their hands on it all the way in jackson unless they find some old, old, old coffee beans from before the outbreak. she’s literally crushed and doesn’t want to accept it.

What is the problem with Latinos in the media?
In the midst of Hispanic Heritage Month, I think it’s very important to acknowledge the problems and faults of Latinos in media. When many people think of a Latino influencer, they may thing of this stereotypical “copy paste” Latino that encourage or try to normalize problematic behavior. Now, while this “type” of Mexican or Latino identity in and of itself is not necessarily bad, it does portray Latinos in a bad light. That is where I would like to bring up the question, “What is the problem with Latinos in the media?”.
The types of people we chose to allow to represent us are the people we are showing to the world to say, “This is what Mexican is”. In hindsight, many of these people represent an uneducated, toxic, and sexualized culture. Again, just to preface, there is nothing wrong with being less intelligent, or having faults, or being a sexual person, however, I do believe that it isn’t fair to the people that try to represent Latinos as hard working, strong, smart, creative, and accountable. These issues are what the problem is with Latinos in the media.
Many of us Latinos tend to feel underrepresented in places like Hollywood, most of the biggest names in the entertainment industry playing a lot of the same roles. Instead of embracing this “copy paste Latino” we should embrace the differences we all have. All Latinos are different, we have different interests, we look different, we pursue different jobs. A single visual trait does not define what you are or what you aren’t. Curly hair, straight hair, blondes, brunettes, redheads, big noses, small noses, tall, short, skinny, fat, and others are all traits that any Latino can have. One characteristic does not “make you Mexican”.
The big issue with Latinos in the media is the people we chose to let represent us. Women like Antonia Hernández, the first Latina staff to the counsel of the Senate Judiciary, and men like José Moreno Hernández, a Mexican American engineer and astronaut are forgotten and marginalized. Famous names like Jenni Rivera, Selena Quintanilla, Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez, and Ana Gabriel, represent so much of our culture and our struggles as a community, but are slowly being drowned out by modern influencers that want to normalize high school dropouts, sexualizing minors, toxic relationships, and people who want to misguide our youth.
Hispanics make up a large chunk of the students that drop out of school every year. Latinos throughout history have always prided themselves on being hardworking and having grit. However, our education rates don’t reflect that aspect at all. There are many Hispanics who have reasons as to why they are incapable of finishing school, but so many of us have the facilities and resources to help us complete our lowest levels of education, but for some reason we ignore them. We choose to embrace this stereotype that Latinos are dumb or uneducated.
Our youth are being sexualized and preyed on before our eyes, but these issues go unnoticed by our community because we are so caught up in toxic influencer culture. These are the harmful pieces of representation that we are choosing to let represent our community. 12-year-olds online have grown men and women sexualizing them and shaming them for being themselves. These destructive routines create unpromising futures for our youth and future generations if these are the experiences that kids from today are having.
The rate of domestic abuse in Hispanics is getting higher and higher, and the number of influencers that regularize abuse and toxicity is not going to help bring that rate down. Domestic abuse is a serious issue that isn’t spoken about very often. Teaching kids and other adults the things to look out for is what will help our community break through this cycle of generational abuse and trauma.
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we should use platforms to spread kindness, to embrace the positive aspects of our culture, and reform the way that Latinos in media are being represented. We can all bring unity back to our community, but it all starts with yourself.
Happy Hispanic Heritage month, and si, somos Latinos!

do you even understand how bad it is to turn the brutal and violent spanish colonization of south america into a father/child dynamic?
dude, i am half mexican, I know a lot about the history of Spain and Latin America (I am a student of Hispanic Literature/Linguistics) I've been in the Hetalia fandom for 8 years in spanish speaking side of the fandom.
English colonization was brutal as well (i mean, all European colonization in the Global South) however in Hetalia we still have England and several countries that represent its ex-colonies (Australia, the United States, Canada and even India and more) also the same happens with Portugal that has coexisted with Macau and the most recent example was with the introduction of Indonesia, which he had certain vignettes with Netherlands. But why would there be a problem with Spain and showing his relationship with his ex-colonies? I understand that Himaruya has never really been very interested in world history beyond the Western perspective.
I've been in the Hetalia latino fandom for more than 8 years, mainly Spanish speaking, and you should explore the "Latin Hetalia" hashtag here on tumblr or on FanFiction.net/Ao3 and there's so much fan-made material, mainly from people from Latin American countries that wanted representation of their countries in Hetalia, often making amazing OCs (I seriously love the design they did of Argentina, tqm Martín Hernández) and this whole fandom of PEOPLE FROM LATIN AMERICA made their own fanfics, OCs of their own story with representatives of their countries and often within this material they included Antonio/ Spain.
Hetalia has dealt with much more controversial topics in a comical way, I mean the protagonists literally ARE the axis powers in World War II, but we understand that this is A HISTORICAL PARODY, not the reality, so believe me that the Latin American fandom has been creating their fanfics/their videos/fanarts of our countries for years BECAUSE WE WANT REPRESENTATION OF OUR HISTORY and also because we love Hetalia, so believe me, we would not be offended if they mentioned more the historical relationship we had with Spain and all the content we have created in the fandom shows it.
My main point is with England, he can have this "pseudo fraternal/paternal-half awkward-half "affectionate-half son/father/big brother"" relationship with America, Australia, Canada, India, etc. Even France with Canada, Netherlands in some fanarts with Indonesia, China with Japan... Why not Spain? In the end this is what many people from the Latino fandom have done or created AND WANT (the people who mainly "should be offended")
Anyway, this is just a sample of the lack of representation of Latin America in Hetalia and that's it.
#aph spain#hetalia#antonio fernandez carriedo#hetalia headcanons#hws spain#and you should study more Latin American history away from the Anglocentric perspective please#hws Spain#sorry for the rant#Things that people in the Latino fandom haven't said or that we've already resigned ourselves to#let the people have headcanons darling;)#latin hetalia

Any HC’s concerning Dallas being Hispanic/Mexican American? Like maybe he isn’t SUPER tied to his roots the way the Shepards are.
OoOoOoOo this dally is a hc ive never heard before im giddy over this!!!!
OK BUT BEFORE WE START☝🏽☝🏽u said hispanic/mexican but idk if u meant SPECIFICALLY mexican or hispanic in general so the hcs i got could fit for any hispanic ethnicity im ngl, just keep that in mind😭
•first off lets get it out the way, i think he would b mestizo🗣️🗣️, but second place after that i say let him b a black hispanic
•like u said, hes is NOT connected to his roots, like at all, he doesnt know jack about it bc he didnt grow up w ppl who taught him about it, dont quiz him on it he WILL fail
•w that being said, he cant speak a LICK of spanish, maybe he knows SOME words and phrases, but at the end of the day, cant do it, even w the spanish words he can say its w an american accent</333
•hell, i dont even think he can mumble a curse word in spanish without feeling like hes forcing it, and its crazy bc he curses sm you’d think he grows into it but nope
•if we DO wanna go that mexican dallas route however, i DO hc johnny as half mexican, so maybe johnny could be his small introduction into mexican culture???
•like johnny gives dally some mexican snacks/snacks from a store, leftovers from his familys dinner, that kinda thing!!! dallys hesitant at first however
•but at the end of the day, i dont think he’d actually CARE to learn his culture, not that he hates it, he just doesnt care to practice anything in it cause he has “other things” in his life to b doin, as he puts it
•my shepards r latino but not hispanic and dallys latino (assuming we aint makin him spanish) and hispanic but cant speak spanish, ik theyve joked about it before, if not them, its two bit
•but if u r a #hispanicshepardsbeliever, the shepards especially tim would talk shit about dally in spanish knowing damn well he cant understand jt and that would piss him off so badly
•i could see pony reading about some urban legend from dallys culture and dally hears it and is mildly interested, just goes “hm” and is half listening
•dallas winston i think u would love horchata actually
•i still see him as bein a lil pale but when summer roles around hes brown skinned, but bc of the fucking OUTFITS HE WEARS, he gets tan lines😭😭

hello, mexican here. brace for a lot.
a thing many of us latino/hispanic hate is the whole nationality vs ethnicity debates. many of us are not born in our homeland so our nationality and ethnicity are not the same (unless we have dual citizenship) but we are still so proud of our ethnicity and heritage. however depending on the country we are born in, mainly in europe, we might not many acknowledge that we are in fact latino/hispanic until it benefits them. we are forced to assimilate since it’s safe for our family due to r*cism in the country, or more benefits we get if we are non-latino.
a thing i’ve noticed in alex, now this might be a bit biased since i cannot stand this, is when something goes wrong like her being called a r*cist that is when it’s release she is mexican and therefore can’t be. or when she was trying to gain fans or positive feedback since the entire time she was in the mexico grandprix was not a good for her. she was constantly criticizing for her clothes, body language and how she spoke spanish (many were saying you could tell she learned it in school with how she sounded) but after the video of her stating she was mexico that is when it turned over for her. many mexicans became her fans, idolized her, coping her clothes and makeup style.
however, many of us notice she only claimed this part of her for its benefit. since she might be born and raised in france that might have something to do with this, since many french do not like us latino, especially mexican. and while growing up it was better for her to deny and bury this part of her so she could succeed in the society but now since her being latino is very beneficial that is why she’s slowly coming out with it. like why she won’t let the man post the video of her stating where she is from BUT can comment on it. there is no prove of where she was born in or her ethnicity (it is all speculations, we know she went to school in monaco and live and visited france a lot during the time but nothing else) and since that video she’s gained more interest since “Oh alex is argentinian” or “is she mixed, is she half mexican and argentinian” this is cause more people to go to her page which it great for her influencer career.
i do not like believing this, but it’s extremely common for people to do this. but there is many people that parents or even grandparents are latino but since they are ambiguous looking, they can pass off as anything which lets them deny they are latino and are another ethnicity until it benefits them. like receiving scholarships for latino, diversity hire, deny r*cism claims, or able to be exotic.
if this is alex, i find it quite sad for her. she has been denying part of herself for who knows how long and might not know who she truly is, especially with the claims she changed herself for charles, and many won’t believe her when she comes forth as latina since she’s been essentially lying for years about it.

can you tell us more about darksasha headcanons please im interested now that you said they were latinos, from which country are they :3
Certainly I'd be happy to share
DarkStripe would be Mexican-American, but he's incredibly disconnected from his culture (A lot of the clans are in general)
He can't speak/understand Spanish at all and is completely unaware about Mexican culture. He only understands a few words that TigerClaw would often say (Tiger barely understands Spanish as well)
Sasha would be Colombian-American. Unlike DarkStripe, she has a strong connection to her culture.
She helps DarkStripe understand his Hispanic/Latino heritage, teaching him Spanish, latino foods, etc
Onto general headcanons
They both suffer from bad nightmares, often involving the Clans or TigerStar in some way
Tadpole, Moth, and Hawk ADORE DarkStripe. Moth and Hawk were a bit iffy about him at first but warmed up to him, Tadpole on the other hand latched onto him day 1
They're both very strong, they like carrying each other around a lot
DarkStripe has called Sasha the following names on accident: Zaza, Salt, Sha-Sha

So Trite & Contrary
I am one. The Magician, the first card in the tarot. An important card, for me, especially. I lost myself in high & mighty Ifá studies and forgot my core. Magic! And always, always necromancy & necrosophy. I was told to stay away from necromancy by a higher power and it fuckin felt wrong to me. Nobody tells me not to work with my muertos. My muerto was suspicious of the ATR'S.
Rodolfo wasn't very happy when he learned I was cutting down my time with him & the other muertos. Rodolfo is very special to me. My first successful extraction from the graveyard, into my Record Keeping quartz, then into my vessel. It was called a "spirit pot" and I wrote the book on those...years ago. I lost my muerto when I disassembled my pot about 12 years ago. Two years ago, my friend Angel told me how to get Rodolfo back & into a vessel - this time a old, decorated tequila bottle. Got the right herbs, bones, and a certain type of pact - worked like a charm!
Rodolfo died at 35 years old. He was in a motorcycle club known as the Free Souls. They are a 1%'er, outlaw MC that originate here in Eugene, Ore. He is Latino and proud of it, he prefers terms like Hispanic, Latino, or Mexican. I asked him about the new "Latinx" terminology after explaining it to him. He laughed at this, very jovial at first and then a sinister snicker. He said, "What bullshit, man. Don't fuckin say it cos like, what's the X stand for? Experimental? Fuckin dopes." He is old school, a bit biased about other races but not racist.
I have a photo of his grave. He does have a difficult last name to pronounce. He is a Taurus. I usually don't get along with Taurus folks. Hmm!
I'm sure ppl may not believe me & the shit I talk about. That's fine, but I'm not a liar, nor do I write fiction. Not a fan of fiction anyway. I'm also not afraid to stand up for what I do & stand for. Basically, I'm no shit talker. Everything I do is real & it works for me & others I've taught. I've got 32 years of magic experience and I was born a necromancer. It was written in my stars (astrology). I can see it in anyone's astrological chart. It's all placements. Saturn, outer planets, and houses. Yes, you can still be a necromancer if it's not in your astrological chart, but it's quite a bit harder. I recently had a client with a perfect chart. Just couldn't teach her because her personality didn't go with mine. I'm not a fast teacher & I don't hand out participation trophies. Lessons & tests require field trips to graveyards frequently. Necromancy & necrosophy does not require lots of reading books, but it does require WORK.
Teaching is open, but I've already posted the class fee. Not cheap. It's not only documents that you get. I also send many things for the class that I do not sell. Oils, incenses, polvos (powders), special concoctions - like my Wallbreaker brew. That's a very potent mixture that breaks down blockages in your life. I only *give* this stuff away, or if I do sell it, it's at $35 for 1/2 ounce. It's gold, baby. Pure gold. Yes, it does work that well. Many clients still look for it. The only bottle I have is the LAST bottle. I can make it again but it takes about 5 years. A special root is mixed with a Spanish leaf in grain alcohol and must steep for at least five years. The odor is interesting, sort of like leather and booze and it's brown in color.
I also have a checkered reputation. Ppl don't care for me. I'm sure you can tell. I'm a facetious bitch but I'm very patient, giving, and fair. And I'm a good necromancy & necrosophy instructor. The students I've had are satisfied though one had to go fully back to her mom duties. Another student excelled so much, she didn't need the rest of my teachings, but she's welcome back anytime she wants. Other students graduated and moved on to be successful Necro-Workers.
We are few & far between, but those of us who work the Necro Arts are honest, capable people. We're the little folks in the shadows that pray to elevate the souls of muertos, comfort them when they're in anguish, feed them with water & light & food too. Necromancy & necrosophy aren't about asking the muertos random questions and being **spooky** on Halloween. Woooo!
**This field should be respected but I don't expect it.** Those who really work with muertos don't ask for people's regard, opinions OR help. We realize that most ppl *DO NOT* care about the dead (yes, dead) - just bury & forget, right?
I'm done. Hope someone gets something out of this ramble. Don't go round thinking I have this huge ego, cos I don't. It's average.
Memento Mori!
Oluwa (Jen) 💖💀💖

I can't imagine Gamora being recast in the MCU. Zoe is fine with it, but I just can't imagine anyone else in the role. Gamora is a character amazingly written by James Gunn, but Zoe's acting is what really made the character so loved.
When Wakanda Forever came out, everyone was excited about the hispanic representation, myself included. But not enough people talk about the fact that Zoe is latina, too. Despite being born in the US, her parents are latinos and she moved to Latin America as a kid. That means the first latina in the MCU was Zoe. Sure, she wasn't giving us actual representation since she was playing an alien. But I remember being so happy, all hispanic kids were happy in 2014 to have a latina in the MCU, even those who didn't look like her. This does not undermine the beautiful job they did in Wakanda Forever but I do feel like it goes unnoticed a lot. Everyone was suddenly hyping up latinidad and hispanidad in WF and rightfully so but I feel bad because Zoe does not deserve to go overlooked. Gamora is not a latina character but she was played by the first latina in the MCU.
Any of us could have a conversation with Zoe in Spanish. We consider her a queen and I'm sure there are many talented women out there who could also make an amazing Gamora, but the thought of Zoe not being Gamora anymore brings tears to my eyes as well as many other hispanics and latinos. We adore her version of the character. Fierce, but loving, very much like actual latinas and hispanic women. There is this sense of fellowship between Spanish-speaking countries. Latin America has 21 countries and there is also Spain in Europe. We don't really fight each other like Americans do. Sure, sometimes we call Spaniards colonizers, or Mexicans mariachis or Argentinians wannabes, but it's to share a laugh. We like having a sense of humor, we make fun of ourselves and each other, we share memes, we listen to each other's musicians, we focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. We call it "hermandad". We live happier this way and one of those things we all agree on is the amazing job Zoe did as Gamora. And yes, we were very happy with what was done in Wakanda Forever, we just wish that Zoe's role as Gamora got more praise as well.
If they recast her I'm sorry but I don't think I will be interested. I am not prepared to move on from her portrayal.

Is there any reason why "hispanic" is only applied to South American and not the Phillipines, Western Sahara or Equatorial Guinea (and the Canaries) despite them also being former Spanish colonies? I'm assuming because of the language, but they also speak it in Equatorial Guinea and Western Sahara (and the Canaries). I say "hispanic" because obviously I'm guessing 99% of Latinos would never use that term to define themselves.
As far as I know, "Hispanic" is mostly used in a USA context, (I don't remember if it's an official census category.) It means "Spanish speakers", and that definition would include any Spanish speakers, that means yes, people from Spain, Hispanoamérica, and the countries you mentioned, yes. In fact, if you see maps about Spanish, they are indeed included as part of the Spanish-speaking world, because they are:
(note that Perú, Bolivia and Paraguay have native languages as co-oficial, and while only New Mexico has it as co-oficial, Spanish is spoken all over the US Southwest)
In my experience, here in Argentina we use "Hispanohablantes" or "Hispanoparlantes" to refer to Spanish-speakers in general. I am not sure how is it used in the USA, though, I think some people think "Hispanic" is interchangeable with "Latino". In my opinion it is not, because it excludes Brazilian Portuguese speakers and native language speakers who are Latinos, and it includes Spaniards who are well, not Latinos. Latino is more of a regional, even pan-national identity, rather that something defined by language or ethncity, but that's another debate.
The Phillipines is an interesting case, because they had a high proportion of Spanish speakers and Mexican Spanish and culture had a huge influence on the country which is still seen today, but after the Usamerican takeover of the Phillipines, the use of Spanish decayed to a minority (still large in number but a minority nevertheless). There is also a Spanish-derived language, Chavacano, which has at least a million speakers. Equatorial Guinea (which was actually administered by Buenos Aires during colonial times, but that's almost forgotten) and the Sahrawis are majority Spanish speakers, but my knowledge of these countries does not extend beyond the basics.
There is a concept of "hispanidad" or "panhispanidad" that used to be popular in the XIX-XX centuries, but I don't see it that often nowadays and personally I don't feel identified by it, not only because I think of myself as both Argentine and Latino rather than "hispano", but because it's often talked about by Spaniards "WE CIVILIZED THOSE SAVAGES" far right types.

Spanish-language Univision is becoming more MAGA-friendly despite Donald Trump's histrionic talk of vermin, concentration camps, and how immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country".
The famous Trump Univision interview by Enrique Acevedo has some interesting backstory.
During the hour-long interview, Acevedo allowed the former president — who as recently as 2020 called Univision “a leftist propaganda machine” — to openly pander to Latinos' “entrepreneurial” spirit, and to threaten his political opponents by insinuating he would weaponize the Department of Justice against them if he is re-elected. This interview adds to concerns that the Spanish-language news giant – which in 2016 cut business ties with Trump and his Miss USA beauty pageant after his racist remarks against Mexicans – is shifting its stance on the former president. The Washington Post reported that “Trump is treating Univision and its new corporate owners like long-lost friends. He hosted a trio of its executives at Mar-a-Lago last week during an hour-long Univision interview that was notable for its gracious tone.” The report also indicated that TelevisaUnivision Mexico co-CEO Bernardo Gomez Martinez, who has a “long working relationship” with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, was responsible for facilitating the sit-down.
Yep, you may have thought Jared had moved on from his working relationship with El Douché but he's still pulling strings for Trump.
[I]n the days that followed Trump’s interview with Acevedo, some network pundits made the case that Trump has “softened” on immigration in an effort “to repair his relationship” with Latinos – flying in the face of the network’s own reporting about his explicitly stated policies and stance on the issue. In the days that followed Trump’s interview, Univision regional and national prime-time shows like Al Punto California, Noticiero Univision, and Linea de Fuego have hosted numerous conservative pundits, including former personalities from Americano Media — the Trump-aligned Spanish-language network that ran out of money earlier this year — to defend the former president and argue that he is aiming for “a change in strategy” on Latinos and immigration.
Either those Univision pundits are living in an alternative reality or word came down from the patrón to go easy on El Douché.
Of course Univision's blatant pandering to a virulent racist and hatemonger is not going unchallenged.
Latino backlash grows over Donald Trump’s friendly Univision interview
The nation’s largest Spanish-language media company, Univision, faced growing backlash Friday for its handling of a recent interview with former president Donald Trump, as major Latino advocacy groups delivered a letter of protest to the network’s executives and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus prepared to request a meeting with the network. Actor and comedian John Leguizamo, who recently took a turn as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” also posted a video on Instagram on Thursday night calling for a boycott of the network until it stopped its rejection of Biden ads, some of which were canceled just before the Trump interview aired. “I am asking all my brothers and sisters who are actors, artists, politicians, activists to not go on Univision,” he said in a message in English and Spanish. [ ... ] Joaquin Blaya, a former president of Univision who created its signature news show in the late 1980s, told The Washington Post in an interview this week that he worried the network had moved away from its founding mission. [ ... ] The Mexican media company Grupo Televisa, which has long had a close relationship with political power brokers in that country, recently merged with the owners of Univision to take joint control of the company. “This was Mexican-style news coverage, a repudiation of the concept of separation of business and news,” Blaya said of the Trump interview. “What I saw there was batting practice, someone dropping balls for him to hit out of the park. I think it was an embarrassment.”
What Trump tells MAGA-friendly interviewers from Univision is not what he is telling everybody else. And that interview was heavily edited to make him seem less unpalatable to the audience.
This is the same Trump who called Mexicans "drug dealers", "criminals", and "rapists" and never apologized for his insults nor took them back.
The View conducted a good journalistic dissection of the way the Univision interview took place.
