Critically Endangered Language Introduction:
Ainu Language
アイヌ・イタㇰ
Photos provided by AMNH
Some information about the Ainu language:
It’s critically endangered, meaning there are very few native speakers left, who are also elderly, and young people are not picking up the language. Ainu doesn’t have its own original writing system, so Latin script and a modified version of Katakana are used. For this post I will be using both Latin and Katakana script. You can read more about the Ainu language and people on Wikipedia, here and here.

I understand that literature nerd Jason Todd is kind of overblown in fanon compared to it's actual presence in canon (a few issues during his pre (and post?)crisis Robin tenure that highlight it) BUT consider that I think it's hilarious if the unhinged gun toting criminal has strong opinions on poetry

Episode 6: FadelStyle vs. Beginnings and Endings
In the past one and a half-ish weeks we've discussed at length just how good the last scene at the diner is and how Style drawing tears on Fadel at the rock concert was foreshadowing to Fadel ending the episode crying real tears. What I haven't seen discussed yet, however, is how that ending scene is actually a counterpart to Fadel and Style's conversation after the rock concert. And I think that makes the scene in the diner even more poignant. And it also makes the scene at the rock pub even more painful as well. Because they are basically the same scenes, just flipped. And I desperately need to talk about it or else I'll explode.
Part 1: "Tonight I am very happy"
In this scene Style knows something that Fadel doesn't: This will most likely be their last chance to be happy together like this. Tomorrow Fadel will go on his mission where the police will be waiting and then Fadel will be taken away from him.
But Style already loves Fadel, he is already worried about him and he really does not want to lose him. So he keeps trying to subtly talk Fadel into staying home from the mission and spilling the beans about the mission so he can explicitly ask Fadel not to go. But Fadel keeps his mouth shut. And as happy as Style is together with Fadel this evening, he is also very upset. He doesn't want the night to end, but there's no way around it. For Style this is a goodbye.
And for Fadel? Fadel went from I'll tell her this will be your last job to Ruerat is the last jerk we have to kill. After that, we can live however we want. Even in this episode, right before he goes to the concert with Style, Fadel tells Bison "Once we’re done with Ruerat, I’ll talk to Mother again", when Bison says it's time for them to quit. Fadel is on the same page as Bison now. Ruerat is their last victim and after that Fadel wants out. For Fadel, this is the last night where he's still stuck in his hitman life, but once he is done with his mission the weight will be off his shoulders and he can finally truly be with Style. For Fadel this is the opposite of a goodbye.
In the words of my mother: For Style, when the night is over life will end. For Fadel, when the night is over life will begin. Style is ending something and Fadel wants to begin something.
And another thing my mom pointed out is how they're standing in front of a pink sky:
And at what time of the day is the sky pink? Either at dawn or at dusk. The beginning of the day or the end of the day. And for Fadel this scene is only the beginning of the day while for Style this scene is the end of the day.
Part 2: "I think I already love you"
In this scene Fadel knows something that Style doesn't: Style has played him, has made him lower his protective walls, has made him fall for him only to turn around and betray him.
Style told Fadel he hoped that Fadel wouldn't get any more scars and yet here Style is, stabbing Fadel right in the heart and jeopardizing his life. Here Style is, bursting Fadel's bubble that he's finally started daring to dream about, a dream of a future where he wasn't lonely, a future where he was happy and himself with someone, Style, by his side. Style is a danger to him. Style can't stay. As happy as Fadel has been together with Style, he needs to let go of him. For Fadel this is a goodbye.
And for Style? He has just spent a full week worrying sick about Fadel after his mission went wrong and went completely MIA. Style has likely (definitely) spent a week checking the restaurant every single day for any sign of Fadel's return, not giving up hope of seeing him again. And then Fadel is back. Style is overjoyed. The heavy metal concert wasn't their last day together, Fadel is pulling through on his promise to have many more nights like that with each other. The concert may have been the end of the day, but now against all odds a new day has come. For Style this is the opposite of a goodbye.
And so we're left with the exact opposite situation from what we had at the concert: Fadel is ending something and Style wants to begin something.
Conclusion
These two scenes go together, they're flipped parallels of each other.
At the concert Style is internally saying goodbye to Fadel because he thinks their relationship will be over when Fadel gets arrested at the mission and the police take him away. At the diner Fadel is internally saying goodbye to Style because he thinks their relationship is over now that he "knows" that none of it was real on Style's part since in reality he was working with said police.
At the concert Fadel is truly happy, because once his mission is over he'll talk to mother and when he's managed to convince her that him and Bison will be out, then Fadel can go and start a new life, a new future with Style. At the diner Style is overjoyed because he thought he was about to lose Fadel, but Fadel has come back and now Style gets a second chance at a future with Fadel.
At the concert, Fadel is happy and he can tell something is kinda off about Style ("What's wrong? You act like we’re not going to see each other again."), but he has absolutely no idea that Style is in the process of bidding him farewell. At the diner, Style is happy and he can tell something is kinda off about Fadel ("You were just calling me out for being affectionate. Now you wanna be romantic?"), but he has absolutely no idea that Fadel is in the process of bidding him farewell.
It's brilliant writing, really. And both scenes are flawlessly performed by both boys.
#the heart killers#stylefadel#fadelstyle#thk#thk ep6#thk meta#my meta#thkmetamine#adrm#i meant to finish my ep6 style meta#and i was actually gonna write about how these two scenes are parallels#but then i watched the ep with my mother#and then after we watched the concert scene my mom went#fadel denkt sich ''wenn die nacht vorbei is dann fangts leben an.'' style denkt sich ''wenn die nacht vorbei is dann hörts leben auf.''#style beendet was und fadel will was beginnen#<- those were her exact words#(transl: fadel is thinking ''when the night is over life will begin.'' style is thinking ''when the night is over life will end.''#style is ending something and fadel wants to start something)#my mom said that and i was like OUCH. tumblr needs to read these words#but i'd already written about the concert scene in my meta and the way i wrote about it made it difficult to properly incorporate her words#so now i went FUCK IT and wrote a whole ass separate meta post about it instead of finishing my style meta whoops#i'm probably dropping my ep6 meta on sunday tho#i might write another paragraph now that i've cleared up a language question and i also need to write the introduction and make some gifs#and then i'm gonna take a day to proofread it all and then i can finally post it#did i do my uni assignments? no‚ thanks for asking :)

claudia’s birth allows louis to believe that he and lestat have become The Parents (equal status) and so the teacher-student power dynamic has gone away, but really it’s just been repressed and it comes up again like wack-a-mole
#clearly he wanted kids and he adored her but also the introduction of a literal child#makes him no longer occupy the position of ‘child’ in the house#in a way that is a relief to him#all that language like fledgling pupil student baby bird is dropped#he’s daddy! they're daddy and uncle :)#and then once claudia is an adult and trying to assert her own equal status#it becomes clear how much that original power dynamic had at best just become latent. bc now there's nobody to transfer it to anymore#'blame the teacher not the student'#addressing louis and claudia as a unit to tell them to clean up the corpse he left#and claudia is obv really aware of this#but like. ‘could the children murder the father’ is something present-day louis says#i think at the time he was still unable or unwilling to look that idea in the eye#anyway. hell hell hell#iwtv#vampire posting

La Tarea Prohibida (Spanish film from early 2000s??? M/S) (submission)
Hi, Shipcestuous. ShipCestFan here to talk about the Spanish film, “La Tarea Prohibida”.
TL;DR:
A film student employs his hot mom to star in his college film class’ final project – a film that has to be shot in one take and which cannot be edited. It has a sex scene. The sex scene spirals out of control. Now what?
DETAILED SYNOPSIS:
(WARNING: NARRATIVE AND GIFs CONTAIN SPOILERS)
I had messaged you previously about this film because I thought it was listed on your master lists. But you had clarified that the one on your list was a short called, “La Tarea”. So lets talk about “La Tarea Prohibida” which is just under 90 minutes and contains a canon incest plot around a mother and her biological son.
I had a hard time finding an English subtitled version of Prohibida, and with the Spanish being spoken so fluently (and quickly), it was hard for me to fully comprehend the plot and what was happening? But I tried my best. I did find an SRT file but it was horribly off sync, so I tried to correct the timing and this is what I think is happening. I think, LOL…
Maria and Santiago are mother and son. And although you get the sense that there is something unusual about this relationship at the beginning of the movie, it’s not readily apparent until later in the movie that they are related. The viewer gets the impression that when not at school, Santiago lives back home where his beautiful mother, Maria – who oozes sexuality - lives with Santiago’s stepfather and their young daughter. Santiago is Maria’s biological son from a previous marriage. The movie makes a strong point of Santiago’s father being the love of Maria’s life, and I think this is a subtle hint to why Maria is so attracted to the, now, adult son they had together who apparently looks much like his father.
The home in which they live has an outdoor, rooftop living space. So it seems Santiago has asked his mom to help him finish his final film project so he can pass (or graduate?). And there’s a requirement that it all take place entirely in one take (i.e., no cuts). The plot of Santiago’s film project is such that Santiago plays a young movie director who meets a beautiful, older woman and offers her a part in his movie which has something to do with God’s omnipresence. He mentions to the woman that there is nudity and a sex scene but they are discreet and mild. The older woman agrees to star in this young man’s movie, despite the nude and sex scene. Remember, the “older woman” in his film school project is being played by, Maria, his biological mother in the actual movie, donning a wig and having several outfit changes. Ahem.
So Maria decides to help her son with his project and play the beautiful, older woman. And it seems she does not tell her husband that she is doing this as she has sent him and their daughter away for the weekend. She’s even put up a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the front door. Um..mmmkay. I had to snicker when her young daughter innocently asks mom why she put up a 'do not disturb’ sign, and Maria responds, “I was helping your brother with his homework.” Yeah, mm-hmm… sure let’s go with that. LOL.
So the actual movie starts out with Santiago’s movie starting and his mom playing the woman he had met arriving at his rooftop location shoot to film their scene. Mother and son – acting as the older woman and the young director - spend the entire duration of the real movie filming their movie. But in the process, they do some serious flirting with each other; teasing each other and, perhaps inadvertently (or perhaps knowingly), raising each other’s libidos. Remember, they’re not supposed to be mother and son in Santiago’s school film, which makes the heavy flirting and teasing…acceptable?
So the “planned” sex scene between “the woman and the younger man” in Santiago’s movie is uneventful, but it obviously aroused them further because after the simulated sex scene, things get interesting. Afterwards, passions are still running high, and in a revelatory moment where mother and son gaze at each other like “I want this. You want this?” They fall to the floor and make passionate love again…only this time for real.
Even though no nudity is ever revealed in this film, the passion and enthusiasm displayed by mother and son during the real sex scene was off the charts for me personally. There’s no holding back their enthusiasm, and it’s loaded with passionate moaning, smooching and multiple orgasms it seems. I was half expecting to see Maria’s eyes roll back into her head at one point. LOL
The aftermath of the unexpected real sex plays out somewhat bittersweet. Both, mother and son, are a bit shell-shocked that they let things escalate, but neither seems repulsed or regretful. Yay! In fact, Maria tells her son it was one of the greatest moments of her life. But now they have a problem. Santiago’s recorder was running the whole time, and if he wants to turn the project in, he cannot cut the scene out. Rut-Roh. He and his mother seem to be at odds whether or not to destroy the videotape. The film wraps up with Maria’s husband and their daughter arriving home unexpectedly and making their way to the rooftop, where mother and son are both acting nervously. After they lie to her husband about how it’s going, Maria, her husband and their daughter head down to the first floor for dinner.
Maria has stolen the videotape of the movie and burns it in her kitchen sink while trying to act normal around her husband who questions her behavior. I couldn’t help feel like it wasn’t entirely shame that Maria was feeling but continued desire for her son. And her desire is evident when Santiago appears from upstairs with his coat and hat on; suitcases packed. Presumably, he is heading back to school?
The passion between mother and son is still running high, so Maria tries to scurry past her son, but he grabs her and spins her into his arms like a classic, black-n-white romance scene! And with Maria’s husband preoccupied in the next room, Santiago kisses his hot, biological mom passionately just like the lovers in those black-n-white movies! Sex scene aside, this kissing scene is the best scene of the movie, in my opinion, because it’s veerrry romantic/classic.
But best of all, during the kissing scene, Maria goes from reluctant and tensed up to relaxed and returning the kiss with fervor. And her husband is just in the next room! One reason I loved this film is because it makes no effort to hide that mother and son are biologically related, yet the flirting, teasing, kissing and sex…especially the sex… are all off the charts. Nice.
Santiago leaves, leaving his mother in tears watching him leave. Is she crying because he may never return after what happened? Or is she crying because she really enjoyed the experience but knows it can never happen again? She returns to her husband who makes a comment about “cutting the umbilical cord” with mama’s boy. I found the comment ironic considering what happened between them. What’s also interesting is that Santiago seemed unbothered that his mother burned the film, leading the viewer (at least this viewer) to wonder if he didn’t’ plan the whole fake thing just to bed his mother? Maria alludes to this possibility earlier in the film but it’s never confirmed.
A final caveat: The movie begins with a crowded film set and crew on the rooftop. The Director on set yells action and Santiago moves into his “film school project” waiting for his older female star. We never see the film crew again, so it was unclear to me what part they play in the movie? This is what I meant that this might have been a movie within a movie within a movie.
I wondered if the film crew is Santiago in the future as a successful Director? It’s important to note that right after mother and son have sex, his mom mentions that she believes Santiago will become a great and famous director. So maybe the movie starts out in the future with an older, Famous Santiago yelling action and then cuts to that (memory of the) fateful night years earlier and the rooftop-film-project that changed his life? Maybe it gave him encouragement and he became famous from his mother’s words of encouragement and sex with her?
Maybe someone who fluently understands the Spanish spoken in the film can explain it for us! The movie is not that difficult to find across the web. I think Dailymotion has the full movie for free but without subtitles. There are other sites, too, but all of them were no subtitles or in other languages besides English. I encourage folks to seek this out and post their thoughts!
Here are a few moments from the film with (hopefully somewhat accurate) English subtitles that I added along with my comments in yellow text.
--
Thank you as always for the detailed synopsis and all of the gifs. Boy, that was a fun one. When you mentioned this movie before after the La Tarea mix up, I never would have guessed it had this much to deliver. What a happy find!
Even if it is a movie a within a movie, that’s OK. Either people made it up, or people made up characters who made it up. It works for me.

Some information about the Chulym language:
It’s critically endangered, meaning there are very few native speakers left, who are also elderly, and young people are not picking up the language. In writing, Chulym seems to use Cyrillic and or IPA and Latin script. You can read more about the Chulym language and people on Wikipedia, here and here; and on Living Tongues here.

Dose # 1 - Introduction
Facts about the language
It’s a Semitic language, which is a branch of languages that includes languages like Arabic, Amharic, Aramaic and Hebrew among other languages.
It has millions speakers worldwide. People usually refer to 22 countries as “the Arab world” but I personally prefer to talk about “Arabic speaking countries” since it gives a better representation of the countries that speak the language and have Arabic as one of the official languages which are 25 countries in the Western part of Asia as well as Northern Africa.
The 25 countries are: Saudi Arabia, Chad, Algeria, Comoros, Eritrea, Djibouti, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Bahrain, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
People might want to learn for a variety of reasons, whether it is to live in an Arabic speaking country or environment, for work purposes, or for religious purposes. Muslims Arabic holds a special place since it is the language of the Holy Quran.
Variations
Since many regions speak the language. There are a lot of variation in the language which I try to summarize.
To put it simply, on one hand we have the Standard Arabic, which is the formal Arabic. The older variation of Standard Arabic is Classical Arabic, among is the Holly Quran which is the most eloquent, inimitable form of Arabic.
Here is a small post I made about MSA and Classical Arabic.
I will focus on the modern variant of Standard Arabic which is “Modern Standard Arabic”, or MSA. Nowadays, this variant is used in official correspondence, books, magazines and writings in general. It is important.
There are also dialects which are the “spoken Arabic”, each region has their own dialects but they are usually grouped per region and similarities:
Gulf dialects; Levantine dialects; Maghreb dialects; Nile Valley and Egyptian
Some dialects are not within these groups per se but they are somewhat close like Yemeni and Iraqi (which I would associate with the Gulf dialects).
I could also place Djibouti, Somalia, Mauritania and Chad in a separate category as well
These groupings over simplify the variety of the dialects but it’s to make the concept closer to understand especially for those who are not familiar with it. I spoke about dialects in a post I made a where I tried to provide an explanation for the difference in dialects, if you’re interested read it [here].
Usually, people learn Arabic to be able to speak a certain dialect, I recommend studying the standard Arabic first or at least having some sort of knowledge before delving into the dialects.
In my lessons, I will focus on Modern Standard Arabic, but I do make dialectal posts on my blog as well which can be found [here].
Arabic alphabets
Arabic is written from right to left, and the letters connect to form words. The letters are read as they are written in 99.9% of the cases, except for only very minor exceptions. It's also very phonetically consisentent, very similar to Spanish for example when comapred to English were different letters can be read differently according to the word.
Arabic has 28 letters, and because the writing connects the words together to form sentences, each letter can be written in 4 ways: the isolated form, the initial form (how it would look like if it came at the beginning of the word), medial form (how it would look like if it was in the middle of the word), and finally, the final form (how it would look like if it were at the end of the word).
However, it is important to note that not all letters connect with other letters, for example, the letters (ا / د / ذ / ر / ز / و) do not connect to each other, and only connects if the other letters in the alphabet comes before it.
The Arabic letters are simple, and many letters resemble one another, I usually refer to letters that are similar as “sisters”. The resemblance in shape doesn’t necessarily mean that the sounds are similar though.
There are two types of vowels, short vowels or harakat, and these are the diacritics or little accents that can be found on top of each letters; and long vowels or mudood which are three letters ا (which makes the sound “aah” ), و (which makes the sound of “oo” like “pool” ) and ي (which makes the sound “ee” like feel). Usually, when talking about “vowels” people are referring to the long vowels.
The vowel is twice as long as the haraka but it has the same sound.
Grammar & vocabulary
Arabic is a very well structured language, and it has a very consistent grammar, exceptions are not very common and it’s very logical.
A notable thing to note about Arabic grammar is that first of all, there are grammatical cases, like Turkish and German for example.
This means that the end of the word changes according to its role in a sentence. In the case of Arabic, the harakat of the end of the word changes depending on the place and role it plays in a sentence.
So don’t be surprised when you see the same word ending with different harakat. Because it is a language that has this grammatical case system, the sentence structure is flexible.
For example تُوتُ (berries) is the same as تُوتَ and تُوتِ . The difference here is the place in the sentence.
Another thing is that Arabic has a root system, most words have a root (most likely made up of three letters), the root has a certain meaning and all the derived words will contain the same three letters of the root as well as a certain meaning that is carried with the derivation.
For example the word كَتَبَ is the root and it means “to write”, we derive words like كَاتِب (writer or author) مَكْتُوب (written) and كِتَاب (book) and مَكْتَبَة (library). If you know the verb (root) it’ll be easy to guess the meaning of the word or have a guess on what the word is about.
Arabic letters : how are they arranged?
There are two ways that the letters in Arabic are arranged, the first one is called التَّرْتِيب الأبجَدِيُّ attartīb alʾbǧadiy. This is the old order of the letters, it was based on the order of the letters in Semetic languages, the order is also used in numbers (similar to roman numerals, how a letter can have a numerical value like (i) which is the number a).
This order is still used when making lists, for example if you’re saying point a) point b) , people are more likely to use this order.
For point c) in Arabic people will say ج) and not ت.
The letters are grouped in these words, in this same order
أبجد هوز حطي كلمن سعفص قرشت ثخذ ضظغ
التَّرْتِيبُ الهِجَائِيَ attartīb alhiǧāʾiy is an order that was later introduced. This order arranges words in the alphabet according to the similarities between the way the letters are drawn. It’s the one used when studying Arabic.
This is the order of these letters
أ ب ت ث ج ح خ د ذ ر ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ع غ ف ق ك ل م ن هـ و ي
For simplicity’s sake, I suggest focusing on the second order, but it’s good to know that it’s not the only one.
I hope this has been an interesting introduction to read!

Little fandom vent; sometimes I get annoyed at the way fandom reduces Damian down to stabby child who only cares about himself and does murder. Like yeah while I get fandom almost always reduces characters down to their funniest or snappiest traits Damian's just doesn't make sense.
Like his whole character is about how much he DOESNT want to be those things.
Damian cares so so so much about other people he just struggles to express it bc it takes a lot for him to trust someone enough to believe they're not going to pull the rug out from under him or betray him somehow. If he didn't care about other people he wouldn't have spent months trying to find Martha's pearls in the sewer, risking his life bc there was a bounty on his head at this point and further ruining his image with Bruce (who thought Damian was just sneaking off and putting himself in danger). He wouldn't have denounced the league and everything he knew to protect a man he'd met less than a year ago. He wouldn't have purposely failed a timed test as Robin to get across the city as fast as possible (a test that would've allowed him to go out alone as Robin and given him more independence one of things Damian values very highly) instead he went over the allowed time by more than 10 hours BC he helped old women with their shopping and walked women home after they were robbed and he sat with a man he saw crying in his apartment for more than 2 hours just having tea with him. I could go on and on about all the genuinely kind things he does bc Damian's empathy and kindness is one of his defining traits actually.
And yeah he used to kill people and he was more prone to violence than the other Robins but he was literally raised in an environment where his worth and by proxy his survival was tied to how well he did murder. I'm pretty sure if you raised any child in an environment where since they were born they were rewarded for killing and violence but punished for showing mercy and told them that it's for the greater good, that they're special and that there's nothing wrong with killing if the ends justify the means they'd end up the same.
Not to mention Damian fights so hard to not be violent bc he doesn't want to be, the people Damian admires most in the world (Dick and Jon) both based their entire personality around Superman (also it's confirmed Supes is his fav justice Leaguer in supersons). Damian wants to be like them so bad and wants to be kind and outgoing and as pacifist as you can get as a vigilante. Damian struggles so much to be that person but it's not as easy as just stopping when you've been conditioned your whole life that killing is the right move and that your worth as a person and the love of those around is dependent on you doing it. He literally keeps a sketch book where he just draws out all the intrusive violent thoughts he gets while fighting villains to get the anger and compulsion out so that he DOESN'T do those things. And Damian feels immensely guilty about all of his past murders which is shown over and over. When he kills no-body (an action he did to protect Bruce) he asks Bruce afterwards how he's supposed to make amends, how he's supposed to live with it.
Which leads me onto the other thing (and hopefully the last cause wow this is getting long) even Damian at his absolute worst only performs extreme violence out of either self defense or logic to him. He doesn't do it out of maliciousness (or at least that isn't the motivating factor). His worst actions were probably in his introduction where he 1) He accosted Alfred and stole the key to exit the batcave 2) Decapitated a villian 3) Attacked Tim
So let's get background on these events from Damian's pov. Damian has never been told who his father is and has to duel his mother every year on his birthday for the chance to find out. And then on his 10th birthday he wins and then that same night he's taken on a plane to go live with this man who he's told about on the plane ride over, then his first impression of him is Bruce fighting a bunch of manbats. His mother says she's leaving him with him indefinitely not telling him when she'll be back. And then this man who he only found out about hours beforehand takes him on another plane to a foreign country where he knows no-one and he finds out his father has other children as well. He's then locked in a small room adjoining a fucking cave full of weapons and told virtually nothing with no-one really talking to him except for them telling him that oh yeah everyone you know and trust is evil and your whole world view is wrong. And then when he yells at Bruce and has what's honestly best described as a temper tantrum (BC oh yeah he was literally 9 years old until a couple hours ago) Bruce in a bid to try and control his anger (since he's not sure how dangerous he is yet) uses league tactics on Damian telling him that he's dishonouring those who taught him. So the literal child whose spent his 10th birthday being flown around the globe to be a dumped in a foreign country with a man he's never met and only knows is a good fighter with a family consisting of an unknown amount of other allies who are similarly trained and then was locked in a room after being told his whole life is a lie might be forgiven for latching onto the only familiar thing here and going 'oh! Now I know how this works'
With the knowledge that Damian definitely decided from this conversation that the bats operate the same as the league it's pretty clear his reasoning is
1) Accosting Alfred and and stealing the key - a) I don't think you'd wanna be locked in a space by a bunch of strangers either no matter how nice the space is b) he probably assumed it was a challenge to see whether he was able to break out and a way they were testing his worth/ability
2) Decapitated a villian - once again assuming this is a test and trying to prove his worth/help his father in the mission to stop crime he was just told about
3) attacked Tim - a) Damian assumes that since Tim is home that he must be the current favourite and it's already known that in the league the way you replace someone is by killing them thus proving you were better than them. B) in the league if you were not the favourite/the best you were disposable c) the only way Damian knows how to earn/receive love is by performing violence, it's pretty reasonable that a 10 year old would try to go above and beyond to earn their new father's love (especially for a child like Damian whose always looking for that unconditional love he's been denied)
From Damian's perspective here he's being the best son anyone could want, he's doing the most past the point he'd be expected to and only being met with anger and disgust. Not to mention that from his view he's literally ensuring his safety since once again in the league Damian was one of the only people whose safety was ensured by proxy of him being the heir/favourite, we literally see them kill other leaguers as part of training.
Like this isn't to excuse what he did or say it's right but it is to point out that it WAS right from Damian's point of view and that he doesn't do what he does out of malice or blood thirst he's just a small child who quite literally didn't know any better.
(also him being mean is similarly a self defense thing, it's fairly common in abused kids. It's the logic of you can't hurt me if I hurt you first/you can't hurt me if I don't let you get close enough)
#damian wayne#honestly i feel like most ppl have only ever read his introduction and it shows#so while we're here read his run with Dick's batman and also born to kill#also supersons and gotham academy bc omg wholesome#batfamily#batfam#fandom#fandom analysis#meta#slightlyslothspeaks#dc#dc robin#damian al ghul#tbh too damians canon personality is already pique comedy without just making him a murder baby#boy is literally just a tsundere#like no he wont say outright that he likes maps and hanging out with her#but he will set up an entire scavenger hunt and detective game AS ROBIN to gift her a first edition D&D book#i think what im trying to say here is just that Damian's main love language is gift giving and acts of service

Intro Post!
Well, guess who finally made a tumblr after thinking about it for ages and observing it second hand through youtube/pinterest for years! Meaning I know the lingo but am still learning the etiquette of actually posting on here haha Big into fanfic and fanart, and most of my posts will be that in the blue moons I actually get anything done. Current fandoms are Murdle, Ace Attorney, Murder Drones, Ninjago, Zelda: BotW and TotK and Hetalia (in the year 2025, I know, you can shame me. I'm not proud of it) Should be it for now! See y'all around!
#intro post#introduction#pinned intro#i'd say i'm excited to be here but i don't know if that's the right mentality for tumblr dot com#but real talk i'm looking forward to seeing how it goes on here ^-^#also if y'all want to drop tumblr tips feel free! i feel like a visitor to a country for the first time after just doing language classes

Welcome To The Baatt Cave
Hello all and welcome to my new language learning blog; You can call me fruitbaatt or baatt, since I don't particularly like attaching a proper name to my tumblr blogs
This blog was created to document my progress on learning Gáidhlig from absolute beginner to hopefully one day being fluent. You can expect me to make various posts here in both English and Gáidhlig as I begin to understand it well enough to write in it. I will likely often post some things I've learned in a day, and eventually maybe post about random things I like in Gáidhlig, writing or diary entries just to practise. It will inevitably be a bit clunky at first but please bare with me
As well as my own posts, I will also reblog any resources I've found helpful either about Gáidhlig specifically or language learning/self-teaching in general
In terms of my interests outside of all that I love Outlast, House Of Wax, Saw, Invader Zim (TV + Comics), My Little Pony (G4), Moomins (90's + 70's), Fight Club (Film + Book), Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, Good Omens (TV), Our Flag Means Death, What We Do In The Shadows (TV + Film), Hannibal (TV), Interview With The Vampire (TV), and my hobbies include writing, art, knitting, sewing, guitar (a little rusty), gaming and DIY; If You're into any of that and happen to be learning Gáidhlig too, You'll likely feel right at home here
I don't have much of a DNI because I don't believe they work very well, but I do block freely and for any reason I feel like so be warned. I can only ask You to be kind to Yourself and others on my blog, but even that isn't guaranteed to work so I'll curate my online experience on my own whenever necessary and I ask that You don't take it to heart
Asks are always open (anon is on if You're shy, and You can request anon tags), as are messages. I might take some time to get back to You but I will, just be patient. I'm always open to converse in English or Gáidhlig once I understand more of it
That's pretty much all for now! Slàn leat :3
