God damn weeping Papa used the Devil’s bullet to find a weakness that can’t be found and break an almost impenetrable shell, because the bullet always hits whoever you love with the last shot in the chamber, and he loves me. On the ground. Couldn’t use the Devil’s bullet in Shinjuku in the end and let himself die so he wouldn’t hit me, uses the devil’s bullet to shoot through to open a way out by aiming for me in this singularity. And he IMMEDIATELY dies from it again on the ground on the ground weeping

I think the Patchwork London Singularity is based not only on MC's memories, but also on Mnemosyne's feelings and experiences. And while Reines nicely explains the culprit's whydunit from detective novel perspective, I believe there is another angle you can see Mnemosyne's actions from. Namely, stages of grief.
Tumblr media
Let's start with our location, Patchwork London. At its core, it is similar to the fourth Singularity, and we all know that in Japanese words "four" and "death" are homophones. Mnemosyne's grief for Da Vinci's passing is a big part of her character.
Our first stop is at the museum where people search for someone they don't remember. The loss of memory is so strong that even the person they look for doesn't remember they are actually a person. This corresponds to denial: as long as you don't acknowledge something it's like it never existed. And just how Nursery was one of the books in the library, Mnemosyne was only a program before gaining awareness.
The second patchwork is about a masquerade. This one has a strong identity motif (masks, different facets of Tower of London history, Salieri in two different ways, we meet Gray at the end…), but in the stages of grief theory this translates into bargaining: masks make everything interchangeable, so it is easy to replace things and find compromises. M and Shakespeare wanted Salieri's music to be heard, so they turned an automaton into the closest thing to Salieri they could. And a similar thing happened to Da Vinci: even if the original died, the new one continued her work.
The third patchwork is the ideal world of steam. As Babbage explains, he and this world of his dream are mutually exclusive, which is very depressing. I think it symbolizes Mnemosyne's awakening after Da Vinci's death and the realisation that she can never be together with her creator.
The last area is fake Rhongomyniad, and, as the place of the final confrontation with the culprit, it easily corresponds to anger. Fittingly, the tower itself represents Mnemosyne's motive: just how the Lion King was collecting righteous people because she believed only they deserved to continue existing, Mnemosyne's plan was to manipulate the MC's memories so that they would only have the good ones.
Finally, there is Rail Zeppelin outside of the Singularity. It shelters the part of Mnemosyne that accepts Da Vinci's passing, which was discarded because she wasn't ready for it. It actually tries to do its intended job, which is why it summons Faker to act as an observer for the part of the Master that ended up on the train.
And the theme of acceptance neatly ties into Faker's arc. As she tells us in the beginning, she doesn't accept Ionioi Hetairoi, and is unwilling to see Iskandar. However, thanks to her experiences from this and the previous summonings, she finds her closure, which culminates in her summoning the Hetairoi herself and fighting alongside Iskandar with muffled You Are My King playing in the distance.

Guys what do you do when a grieving machine tries for forcefully tamper with the memories of the person you swore to be loyal to?
Bedivere's answer is: stay alive out of sheer spite and smash it to smithereens.
He didn't do this alone, Osakabehime was actually tanking this fight and healing up Bedi with her NP until the last couple of turns. I originally had Summer Okita, a borrowed Koyanskaya and Osakabehime on the front row, and they lasted fairly well with Osakabehime healing them up (Mnemosyne being multiple hit here works against her, since Osakabehime can fill her NP gauge up easily, and add DEF, Quick and Buster buffs to boot).
Honestly, the only thing complicating this fight was that Mnemosyne summons a Caster, so Assassins can't freely move in for the kill. Even so, Osakabehime was actually healing herself up fast enough and her own Morph skills let her shrug off most attacks, but I got unlucky when Osakabehime was hit by Mnemosyne's NP, clearing her buffs and letting the Shadow da Vinci deal a finishing blow.
I didn't expect Bedi to hold on as long as he did, only needing a Command Spell heal at the end, but that's lv 120 stats working for you, and he even got the Shadow Servant and Mnemosyne together at the end.
Oh, and Bedi wasn't equipped with a decent CE for this one, I just put a Bond CE up on him (the one with Kadoc) so he wasn't at his truest damage potential here, but he's just so damn strong and his HP is big enough to let him survive and still deal ridiculous damage with his NP.

Acolyte Spoilers #1
Okay so -- of the many, many, MANY things about SW canon that are both hilarious and horrifying in light of episode 1 of the Acolyte, this is the one that's sticking out to me now: So, apparently, in canon, Anakin and his "unorthodox" training that everybody in the Temple yelled at him for has officially now saved Ahsoka's life approximately 1033 times over instead of just 1032. Why? Because Osha out here, Jedi dropout, working for the Trade Federation on a case-by-case basis (who are talking over comms about how disposable she is!) because, and I quote/near-quote: the Jedi skills aren't transferable. And apparently, they don't really teach you anything else, not officially. If you don't have a master who cares about that kind of thing, maybe you don't get any kind of training that way at all. AND, evidently, if you leave or get kicked out, they don't give you any kind of job training, stipend, or post-Order care, as we saw with both Ahsoka and Osha. So that particular fun little fanon sop to the Jedi just died a lonely death LOL. So Anakin, by teaching Ahsoka an actual, marketable trade (mechanics) (why is that the only trade in Star Wars?? Guys, learn some basket-weaving) absolutely saved her life. (Again.) So, to recap: You're taken to the main government-sponsored (literally, from what I can see) cult, the Jedi Order, often as a baby so you have no say in it. There are laser swords, telekinetic space monks who have lived in power for centuries, a planet-city full of corruption, and absolutely no child endangerment or child labor laws. Your "brethren" can and literally do invade people's minds and control them without asking if it's convenient. You are ostracized for forming any kind of attachment; apparently, if you blink in vague confusion while a fascist green lady asks you if you're down with murdering your young former padawan for political convenience, you're too attached. (AND that is a whole hilarious post on its own). Key salient details will be left out of your file to aid in a coverup about your origins. The minimal amount of critical thinking will be done at all times, if you're lucky. And then, of course, if you dare to leave or get kicked out of this utterly Benevolent Cult in which you had no choice in spending your entire life, you...will have no resources, no job training, and be left to sink or swim. And then at any point the Jedi will have free rein to pop back into the life you've shakily managed to construct for yourself, arrest you immediately on the testimony of one (1) (non-human guy who might not be able to tell the difference between one human and the next!), and then get you crashlanded onto an icy death planet and hunt you down, laser swords out and ready to slice and dice you to death. Yep. Sounds about right. (Wait till you get to the human clones manufactured to die, Osha! That'll be fun.) Sooo -- any sane person's reaction to the Jedi Cult here should be:

Come to think of it. The connection between Ritsuka and Avenger class servant had always been strong.
There's Angra in his bound 10. Jalter with accepting her as real despite being counterfeit. In Lady Reines case file, recognizing that Salieri was playing the piano on hearing alone and even instinctively realizing it's not complete. Gorgon interlude where even when she was threatening them that she's a monster and will eat them, they simply say "Thank you for coming to Chaldea". I don't think I need to talk about Count.
that also applies to Servants outside of that class too

I decided to do this challenge quest when I saw a comp that I could use and with some luck I managed to do it in five turns!! Yay!!!! O(≧∇≦)O
I only ever tried some challenges quests and only completed a handful at best. But most of them I didn’t try cause it’s hard and I didn’t wanna use my brain. So I feel very proud of myself for this, kind of lol

I have two possibilities for Fate AUs with Aiba.
In Fate/Grand order we see the supercomputers with advanced AIs, one of them is an unfinished AI that takes centerstage during the Lady Reines Case Files event. Autonomic Observational Existence Verification System (aka Mnemosyne, the Titaness goddess of Memory) is a subsystem designed to ensuring confirmation of a Master’s existence and gained sentience. Ironically it was installed with many Mystic Eyes that Marisbury had won at the auction held at the Rail Zeppelin, which also reinforces the “eye” imagery. While Mnemosyne watches over the Master’s memories, maybe Aiba would watch over the dreams.
In the Extra/Extella series everything happens in a large-scale simulation on the moon and during the events of Extra CCC some AIs gain sentience and are based on emotions, along with merging with goddess. So perhaps originally created to modulate the people sleeping inside the simulation, to have AIBA to becoming an AI containing the personification of people’s dreams, sleeps and nightmares and to be a combined existence with the likes of Hypnos, Morpheus, Nidra (Hindu), Mamu (Mesopotamian) and maybe something like a Baku (Japanese dream-eater) while also having domain over the  Zaqīqu (the Babylonian realm of the sleep) would be pretty interesting. These aspects could also be used with the previous concept.

Patchwork Haze, Yet Memories True
Kinda just what I think Ritsuka and Bedivere would have talked about after the Lady Reines's Case Files event in F/GO.
Admittedly this isn't a fully finished fic, just some ideas of what they would have talked about.
Anyways: fic is written with established BediGuda in mind, BediverexFemale!Ritsuka/Gudako. Spoilers for the event and all that, too.
Case Files Epilogue
The simulator was set to a peaceful flower field on a sunny day, a tea set and picnic blanket laid under a tree.
A tranquil setting, to ease one's mind.
Ritsuka was used to this sight - Bedivere often arranged for their little dates to be like this, a quiet spot and some tea on hand. But she was grateful for it, especially after yet another adventure, and one that heavily involved losses of the past, too.
However…
Her most recent adventure also brought up memories of the Sixth Singularity, and some happenings related to it. So it was just natural to talk to Bedivere about it.
And, in any case, she also wanted to ease Bedivere's mind of any worries he had for what happened to her. But before all the rather heavy topics...she wanted to ask something, something casual to start their date off with.
"Say, Bedi, have you met our new additions to Chaldea? Professor Reines, Astraea…and Gray?" Ritsuka asked as he handed her a cup of tea.
Bedivere nodded, settling down beside her.
"I have met them, in passing. I spoke briefly with Lady ah, Reines, was it? She saw me handling the tea service and asked me about Chaldea's supplies. And the Lady Justice…"
He paused, eyes twinkling.
"I may have seen her tackling Lord Batholomew in the halls. What superb technique, I have to say," Bedivere said, a ripple of mirth in his voice. Ritsuka laughed - Astraea had wasted no time in bringing some order to some of Chaldea's rowdiest bunch, and was especially happy to give Bartholomew Roberts a vicious suplex when the pirate got too loud with his admiration for hidden eyes.
"He he, she's not one easy to miss. But I bet you won't have any, ah, impromptu judgements with her," Ritsuka giggled.
"I hope not. I don't think my spine can take it," he said, more pleased to see her laugh than at his own joke.
Ritsuka took a sip of her tea - a warm, sweet one, with a mellow fragrance. Perfect for unwinding.
"Mmm, absolutely wonderful, Bedi," she said, looking at him.
He beamed back, then picked his own cup.
"Oh! How about Gray, and Add? Have you met them?" Ritsuka asked. "The Lady Gray is the one who wears a hood, right? And Add is that, um, cube? That accompanies her? I think I heard he is her weapon, and that he talks. I have not conversed with that pair, no. Although…" Bedivere paused, thinking something over.
Ritsuka paused as well, waiting for what he was about to say. She was wondering if Gray reminded Bedivere of Artoria.
"Hm. I've only seen her from a distance, but…something about the weapon she carries. I cannot pin my feelings on it, but…I feel…a tinge of uneasiness, almost," Bedivere said.
Ritsuka paused - Besivere always spoke very honestly with her, and Ritsuka knew there was a lot of the trust in that, his confiding in her, even of small details. So, she wanted to be open and honest with him, too, as much as she could while respecting other Servants's private matters.
She decided to confirm something with him, at least.
"About that, Bedi…I wanted to say, Gray carries a form of Rhongomyniad," Ritsuka said, putting down her cup.
His eyes widened in surprise, and he also put down his cup.
"She carries the sacred spear as well, yes," Ritsuka said.
"Ah...that must be why. To think I will keep coming across the Tower at the Ends of the World…" Bedivere mused.
…was it just him, or the number of people wielding that spear here in Chaldea were...quite a lot?
Ritsuka also had the same sudden thought.
"…huh. It does keep popping up, doesn't it," Ritsuka said sheepishly.
Bedivere actually laughed, a short chuckle of amusement. In a moment, Ritsuka joined him - theirs was just an absurd situation, really.
"Well, it gladdens my heart we have such forces on our side, if nothing else," Bedivere said.
He nodded, picked up his cup again. "Yes - it is good to see, that such a force can be used to peotect you, Ritsuka."
Ritsuka smiled. "Yeah…we have lots of strong friends on our side."
She looked down at her cup of tea, taking in its scent, before taking a drink. Seeing this, Bedivere readied the teapot for a new cup, and also reached for a box of treats.
"New friends, hm. The circumstances of the last Singularity must have been quite eventful, for you to meet new allies," Bedivere said.
Ritsuka nodded - now onto some more difficult topics.
"New allies, yes, but also, memories of..." Ritsuka put down her cup. Bedivere noted the change in her demeanor, her becoming more somber.
Ritsuka took a deep breath and put down her cup, not even picking up a single cookie to eat.
"Well, that's just the thing. This whole adventure - was about memories. When I got there - I couldn't remembered anything. Or, I woke up not knowing anything."
She bit her lip and brought her hands together, twisting her fingers together. Concerned, he scooched closer, putting a hand on her back.
~~~
(sorry, this part is unwritten, here's another segment)
~~~~
He took her into his arms, and she burrowed her face into his chest, taking comfort in his presence.
"Mnemosyne - she wanted to help me by erasing the hurtful memories…to forget those who died," Ritsuka said, her voice muffled, but Bedivere heard very clearly.
"But forgetting would have been -"
"Worse," Bedivere mouthed, but didn't say the word.
"It would have been so much worse. Maybe it would have stopped the hurting, but it would hurt in a different way," Ritsuka said, her voice trembling.
He hugged her close, pressed his cheek to the top of her head.
"It would. But still - Ritsuka - that you would refuse -"
He stroked the back of her head.
"It still speaks strength of heart. And - this may be selfish of me to say, but -"
He drew back, and she raised her face to meet his eyes.
He drew his hand over to her cheek, cupping her face.
"Thank you. For not wanting to forget any of it. To not forget - me," he whispered.
"I never would. Promise."
He ducked down and she met him, their lips pressing together.
Kisses, soft and sweet, and this, warmth and solidity of his arms. A true comfort after the patchwork haze that was tampered memories.
"My own promise, to you, Ritsuka. Though Servants may lose memories between incarnations - and though I myself may never even be summoned again -"
"So long as I am Sir Bedivere - my heart remains yours. No matter what."
~~~
Sorry, this is just a messy drabble and doesn't really go anywhere, lol. I feel like recounting the events is just me rewriting a summary anyway.
...I do wonder if Bedivere finds it concerning that Chaldea has a few Rhongomyniad users running about, heck, including Morgan in the mix now. I imagine it brings back bad memories for him, but he tries not to let it bother him and he just tries to think it's great Ritsuka at least has that firepower protecting her.
moriarty was able to shoot through the fake rhongomyniad, something that astraea wasn't able to do, and he did it with one bullet.
now, archer moriarty that we summon in chaldea is still fused with the phantom spirit of max the freeshooter like the archer of shinjuku - which is why he's even able to have a gun in the first place
the condition of max's final bullet is that it goes towards the one he loves. to go back, moriarty shattered open the sacred lance that guda was inside. it was the last bullet he fired in the singularity before his spirit origin fell apart
his love for guda is ingrained in his spirit origin that without memories, the freeshooter myth is able to shatter a hole in rhongomyniad with the intention of the bullet was used to help guda instead of kill them.
papa moriarty i love you
