It is a good prompt so I can't blame you for swiping it. That said, I apologize for only being able to do Luvia's side. I couldn't think of anything that didn't feel like it was just a remake of Luvia's side for Karin. My aplogies. If I ever get the idea for Karin I'll be sure to write it!

This had to be Tohsaka’s fault.

She didn’t know how, or why.

Luvia just knew that it was.

Especially with the trio of thugs telling her to hand over her bag.

The bag filled with her recently purchased materials for Magecraft.

Any other day, Luvia would just deal with them herself.

Unfortunately, some of the materials in her bag were… Volatile.

The blowing an entire city block sky high type of Volatile.

Personally, Luvia would prefer that not to happen.

And so, Luviagelita Edelfelt was in a pickle, her back against the wall of the alley, and highly explosive materials in her bag.

Needless to say, she was very limited on what she could do to get out of this.

But then, a Deus Ex Machina entered stage right.

The Deus Ex Machina?

You, walking in from the side alley and right in between the two factions, a toothpick in your mouth, wearing a raggedy jacket with patched up pants and beaten up sneakers.

“Hmm, I do believe I have gotten in the middle of something I probably shouldn’t have…” you muttered, reaching up and taking the toothpick out of your mouth, a slightly irritated expression on your face.

This was Luvia’s chance to escape!

“Please! Help me! These HOOLIGANS are-” Luvia began to screech before she was suddenly interrupted.

“Zip it Goldilocks!” you shouted, slightly turning towards her.

“Wha-! Can’t-” Luvia started to shout in indignity and annoyance before she was promptly interrupted by you again.

“ZIP! IT!” you shouted.

Luvia bit her tongue and nodded.

In any other situation, Luvia would deal with you herself.

Unfortunately, this was not any other situation and she would be a fool not to accept the help.

No matter how… crude the help is.

It was around now that negotiations began to deteriorate.

Well, Negotiations is what Luvia called it, it was more accurate to call it an exchange of words that could only ever lead to violence.

Which, of course, it led to when one of the thugs threw a punch.

Or tried to at least.

He was interrupted by a toothpick being tossed into his eye, his leg being kicked out from underneath him, and a knee being slammed into his face, knocking more than a few teeth out and breaking his nose before he crumpled to the ground in a heap.

Needless to say, the other two thugs did not take too kindly to this as one pulled a knife as the other charged you with a wild haymaker.

The one that tried to hit you with a haymaker was promptly kicked in the genitals, sending him to his knees where he received a plentiful serving of the heel of your shoe directly to his mouth which laid him out on his back, blood pouring out of his mouth from the broken and missing teeth.

That left only the one with the knife.

This one required you to be a tad more cautious.

Or that’s what Luvia would have thought.

The actions you took were far more aggressive, rushing forward, stomping on the ribs of the first thug and using him as a springboard to launch yourself upward, both legs drawn back to hit the last thug with both knees at full force.

And hit him with full force you did, your knees connecting cleanly with his chest, making a sickening crack resound down the alley from ribs snapping.

Though, not without receiving a knife to your side.

Luvia smugly drank her cup of tea as she watched over you in one of the guest rooms.

She was going to have her revenge for you calling her “Goldilocks”.

Right now, she was just waiting for you to wake up.

Then, almost as if on cue, you groaned and Luvia smiled.

It was… disappointingly easy to talk you into becoming one of her Servants.

Specifically, a bodyguard.

Sure, you were nowhere near as genteel as she would’ve liked.

Not to mention you fought extremely dirty.

Nonetheless, Luvia found your attitude and own particular way of going about things… interesting.

Rather than letting the staff toss something out and replace it, you’d find a way to stretch out its use for as long as possible which, over a few months, saved a nice chunk of change when it came to her being a tad… emotional at times when it came to the aftermath of her less successful magecraft experiments.

Now, if only she could get you to wear a full suit and tie, as opposed to just the shirt, shoes, and pants, you’d be the perfect-

“It seems not.” Luvia muttered, her previous thought coming back to her.

The sound of something barreling down the hallway was certainly noticeable, it was almost like someone had unleashed a pack of wild things that were trampling everything on their way, a true warpath if he had ever heard one. Curiosity stirred, prompting Shirou to cautiously open his door and peer outside. ❝ Luvia-san ? ❞ Like a blue and golden hurricane, the Edelfelt heiress was on his doorstep like she had wrestled a small army – or perhaps only the red devil with pigtails –on her way to see him. The poor present wasn’t in better shape either. When the situation seemed it couldn’t get any weirder, it was like all strength finally abandoned Luvia and she started to fall like a powered-down doll – thankfully Shirou was fast enough (or perhaps just in the right place at the right time) to catch her. That was…certainly a memorable way to make an entrance, especially to celebrate someone’s birthday. Cautiously, Shirou made sure that Luvia was properly being held as he moved to his room and placed the girl on his bed. The poor thing seemed exhausted.

❝ Sweet dreams, Luvia-san. ❞ he smiled fondly. The always so energetic mage certainly looked peaceful sleeping like that. And cute. Still, he was a gentleman and would be taking the couch tonight.

I am tired of the misconceptions around nasuverse magi.

The consensus around fate tumblr, reddit and other such places is that every single mage that isnt the protagonist would kick a puppy and eat a baby. Tbf, there are elements of truth in it. But its to the point where, people, if they see that the character in question is mildly related to the clock tower they will instantly dismiss them. Its simply too much of an exaggeration. I remember when people said that having some of the crypters in FGO being genuinely alright people a retcon, because they were supposed to be the evil magus that opposed our plucky protagonist.

There is just a blatant refusal to critically examine magi characters like Kayneth or Tokiomi even when the story talks about them positively. It gets very embarrassing at times

When Mash and Leonardo gave the crypters glowing, five star reviews to our self insert protagonist, there were people who would rather believe tamamovitch in that they were somehow jealous of your accomplishments.

There were people who claimed Goredolf being a good man deep down was a retcon, and Kirchstaria being a gigachad was false, despite the part 2 prologue and crypter interludes showing otherwise.

When a magus character is given character traits beyond being a power hungry megalomaniac, it is talked about as if they are the exception to a rule. It prevents any discussion about magi from going anywhere.

People than ask why is there so many magi villains then? Its pretty fuckin simple. Nasu and other writers needed a villain, and there was an easy pool of unnamed characters they could pull from.

The problem with making exceptions out of protagonist magi characters is that they don't hate magi society. Rin still desires to be a part of the clocktower and study there. Luvia is an amazingly fun character, and has a frankly adorable crush on Shirou. Even her family can be designated as generally cool people, given Luvias younger sister is marrying for love rather than genes.

Luvia still threatens to kill Waver if he reveals her family's magic to the clock tower. Waver, despite being fate tumblrs pet boy who cant do magic very well, despite their idea that, wow wanting magic in this world is the worst thing ever, still thinks that being a magus, and reaching for the root is an incredibly noble goal.

Why cant it be down to the culture that magi were raised in? Why is it that these people are the exception, and the rest of magi society should burn? Why are so called good Magi thought of as protagonist/good person first, and Magi second, and why are antagonist magi hit with the magi first, shitty person second? Hell, even Touko Aozaki bounces from role to role depending on what story you are reading. Shes the villain of Mahoyo, a wise mentor in Kara no Kyoukai, and just somebody having the time of her life in Case Files: Grace Note. Aoko was planning to kill Soujuuro for witnessing magic, only stopping when he helps her fight against toukos puppet.

Even the traits that people like to shit on magi for are just traits prevalent in all Nasu villains, magi or not. Arrogance? Gilgamesh, BB, tamamovitch and Kiara have it in spades.

Sociopathy? Lio and Ryuunosokeare serial killers, as well as Jackie and Reika from apocrypha. Kirei is literally just like that ™️

Not caring for human life? Shirou Amakusa, Twice Pieceman, Kiara, Goetia, The Lion King, all grand visionary villains.

You could do the reverse for magi villains as well. Manaka was connected to the root and fell in love with Arthur. Shinji is an asshole and he cant even do magic that well.

Speaking of the root, there are very few magi villains who do anything to get to the root. Zouken, before he went bug man dementia guy, wanted to reach the root so he could help humanity. He lost touch with his goal and simply wanted immortality. And he is the example most people point to for evil magi stomping on anybody to get to the root. His treatment of Sakura was because he wanted to get back at their ancestor which he knew.

The Einzbern are barely even human anymore, just Homunculi following the directives of their long dead creators. Im not kidding, even irisviels father is another homunculus. There are no living magi in the Einzbern family.

Roa fell in love with Arcueid, which is what drives him in tsukihime. Cornelius Alba was a fucking incel who fell in love with touko, but was also jealous of her, which made him want to kill her. Zepia wanted to help humanity and save the world, but went insane when he couldn't figure out how. He decided to become an antagonistic phenomenon, in the hopes that might change the fate of the world. Dust of Osiris wanted to save humanity's future (and her girlfriend) by preserving it as a record, frozen in time in the philosophers stone.

What magic weed do they smoke, that most Magi villains want to save the world?

Touko is a villain in Mahoyo, she wants to kill her sister out of jealousy. Atrum Galliasta doesnt care about anything except the benefits magic can bring him. The american magi from Strange Fake and the japanese magi from Type Redline want to use their magic for nationalistic purposes.

The only magi who fit the popular image that I can think of are Souren Araya, Darnic Yggdmillenia, Nigel Saward, and some of the antagonists of Case Files, specifically from volume 1 to volume 3, including the original villains of the anime.

Even with Araya, he wants to destroy the root and find the happiest moment in human history to preserve it. Just like Goetia, Dust Of Osiris, and The Lion King.

Darnic wants to reach the root so he can gain enough power to make his mega family/faction secede from the Mages Association. The other guys are doing their thing so they can do their experiments in peace. They are escaping sealing designations, which are only leveled on the people who may expose the magic world by experimenting on random non magic people.

So, that talks about a general fandom perspective on average magi. But what of the Mages Association? The organization that will gladly turn a blind eye to the extermination of innocents, as long as you dont get caught?

Or they would. If it wasn't against their fucking laws that crime by magic or involving innocents were incredibly punishable. Its more a problem with the western fandom having a lack of official translations, but there are unofficial ones.

This may not be out of the goodness of their heart, as these are in place so as to not expose their existence to the rest of the world.

But, they still take care of these problems. They handled Jack the Ripper, and took care of mages like Heinrich Zepter whos experiments affected many civilians. Why dont they do anything in japan? They dont have much surveillance there. Its a whole plot point in garden of sinners.

Even in fate/stay night, the reason the grail war takes place in fuyuki is because it is so far from the watchful eye of the association.

I mean, it's good but it does feel slightly disappointing in that this romantic relationship that is about Hakuno and Nero, we have to shove Ritsuka into it and make it about them and Chaldea. Like, the biggest issue I have with all of this is how Hakuno just decides not to go there themselves to save Nero, instead relying on Ritsuka to do so and the only excuses we get are that Draco likes the journey undertaken by Ritsuka and Chaldea and that Ritsuka has dealt with more Evils of Humanity than she has thus making him better qualified. And even if Ritsuka has to be includes, it doesn't mean Hakuno can't go there herself to at least help Ritsuka come to understand who Nero is as a person as they wouldn't have the understand of Nero to the extent that Hakuno does. It's bad enough that Hakuno didn't even get a cameo in the SERAPHIX Epic of Remnant Chapter and remains the only master to have a collab event and not get put into the game (seriously every other collab event has had their series protag be put into the game), but in this story where Hakuno appearing in person to help save Draco like Nero has done for them several time and the best we get a last minute cameo. And I'm just left wondering why? We got two pseudo-servant Rins in Arc 1 with Ishtar joining with Babylonia and Eresh coming during Christmas 3, we got Sakura-pseudo servants with Parvati in EoR, Kama during the prelude for LB4, and Durga and Kali with Ordeal Call 1, we got Shirou with Muramasa being an NPC for Shimosa and LB5 before becoming a summonable servant for new years, same with Kirei and Rasputin, Luvia and Astrea, Taiga and Jaguar-Man, Caren and Amor, Reines and Waver as Sima Yi and Zhuge Liang, and so on. We even got Jinako with Ganesha and Kiara as herself and yet Hakuno gets nothing but a cameo where we don't even get to see her full face.

Part of me wants to hope that Nasu is cooking something big to keep Hakuno out of FGO for this long but, at this point, I feel like whatever he's cooking is burnt at this point. We are entering the final story chapters for Arc 2 and Hakuno is still nowhere to be seen while FGO goes about grabbing every other possible Fate protag, the most recent being Iori from Samurai Remnant, a game that only came out almost 5 months ago. Hakuno should have finally stepped in by now or, at the very least, a god or goddess should have take note of Sovereign Hakuno, seen their potential as a vessel, then take one look at the several instances of living Hakunos (I.e. Living Hakuno, CCC Route Hakuno, hell even School Life Hakuno) and yoink them to be a vessel but nope nothing. Is Lilim Harlot and Draco's story really good? Yes. Is what role Hakuno got better than nothing? Sure. Did the relationship between Nero and Hakuno feel important here? Absolutely. Ultimately, I can't get over 2 things that keep this event from truly being an event I love: 1) Hakuno's role being purely cameo and doing background work rather than having an upfront and personal role in the actual story and 2) This being a story in FGO and thus has to tie into Ritsuka and Chaldea because they have to be the most important people in the room, even when dealing with affairs and plot threads that ultimately have nothing to do with them.

In Fate Extra, where Hakuno can only wait for death despite how much they struggle to live, Nero comes not summoned by Hakuno, but her summoning herself to Hakuno to save them.

In Lilim Harlot where Draco can only wait for death, Hakuno saw this and pull Guda there to help Draco, just like how Nero saved Hakuno back then. Hakuno who knows Nero very well must be aware that despite what Draco said and intend to do, she still has burning desire to live as shown by her alter egos Bestia Coccinea.

The best thing about Lilim Harlot is that Draco was saved by a love story that spans through 5 series for a decade (Fate/Extra, Fate/Extra CCC, Fate/Extella, Fate/Extella Link, and Fate/Extra Last Encore). The emotional payoff is just amazing when you think about it.

@more-than-a-princess is there a muse that you wish gets more attention? what is something everyone should know about your muses before interacting? can you sort your muses from youngest to oldest?

1. is there a muse that you wish gets more attention? Let me see... Besides the Code:Realize ones? I feel I could use my OCs more, or Gray. They are all good beans that deserve more love. Gray is an interesting although her mindscape can be a little unusual to get to – still, leagues and bounds easier than Angra (that one when it isn’t for memes can be harsh on my mental health if done properly). Hilda is an interesting muse to work with, although I feel her voice is still uncertain at some spots. She is barely mentioned in canon and is defined as “Luvia’s softer twin sister” but even so I believe she should have a strong personality, to be assertive and exuberant in her own right – perhaps I should think in FGO terms and give her a pseudo-servant status like her sister and see if I can get an inspiration from some deity? I don’t know yet. Kuzunoha is also other rather elusive muse: a divine kitsune, a “benevolent trickster”. She was saved from a hunter by a onmyouji (monk) and, as a human, was by his side and tended his wounds, eventually getting married, having a son together but leaving once the husband found out her secret. Their son eventually grew up to become Abe-no-Seimei, Japan’s most famous onmyouji and mystic, who protect people from evil spirits and other mystics. Remember that mystic rock that broke out of nowhere last year? It is the stone that it is said that Seimei sealed an evil youkai within. tl;dr: elegant kitsune who likes to see people striving but still has a playful bit in her.

12. what is something everyone should know about your muses before interacting? I think the one thing people should know about my muses is that most of them have a modern verse (as I rambled here) and I’m also always open to make crossovers/AUs/verses to accommodate my rp partners. Hell, I even had a Star Wars verse with the Big Bad Wolf with a friend for shits and giggles and it was so much fun. I also usually hold back some of my muses when I don't know much about my rp partner. For example, you'll never see Angra being inappropriate and doing innuendo jokes without permission, or Archer sassing people without consent. Same goes for ships: even if there is a ship in canon, I won't assume there is one between our muses unless we talk about it. I'm all about 'em healthy communication and relationships out of character.

15. can you sort your muses from youngest to oldest? Technically speaking, my youngest would be Sieg, he is a homunculus so when he jokes “I was born yesterday” it isn’t too far-fetched. Special situations aside, the youngest would be Gray, followed by Soma Cruz (Castlevania) and then Komaru Naegi. Then comes Amami, Kirigiri, Aiguille, Shirou, Hajime, Narukami and Nero. And when it comes to oldest it also have the special cases like Dracula and Valvatorez, who are vampires, Kuzunoha that is an immortal youkai, but the oldest among these, I kid you not, is Angra. Muramasa died as an old man and was brought with the mentality of the time he died, so mentally speaking he is the oldest. Saber Emiya also died as an old man, but not as much as Muramasa and his mentality is younger. Proto Arthur’s aging was stilted thanks to Excalibur so he is also another one with ambiguous age along with Archer.   Now, to the more “reasonable” ones: the oldest is Romani Archaman (FGO) who is mentioned to be mid-30s in the game, followed by Kiritsugu (who died at 34) and Waver, who is 29.  Then comes Van Helsing and Rufus in their mid-20s.
