Well this got dark as expected. Lot of lore for Jinshi and his family in this one. Maomao solving the case in almost record time was funny, but it let us get to learn about Anshi’s mental state and the full story with the previous emperor.

I can’t say I blame Anshi at all for hating the previous emperor. First of all, her dad sold her off as a little girl, then she has to sleep with a pedophile and bear his kid only for said pedophile to forget about her when she aged out of his tastes. She never got to have a normal life or do the things she wanted to do. I’m a bit confused on her “tormenting” the emperor tho did she end up raping him that night to pay him back for what he did to her or did she just tease him into a mind break?

After seeing the flashbacks I’m definitely convinced the previous emperor was severely autistic and liked little girls because he was mentally a child himself. Doesn’t make it right or ok, but just a psychological explanation. He never should’ve been in a leadership position from the start with his mental problems. Unfortunate situation all around.

Love the little mother-son esque bonding moment at the end. Anshi peeping that Jinshi clearly has a thing for Maomao.. maybe this’ll make him a bit more aggressive with her going forward. 😋 good on Anshi not letting the fucked up shit in her past make her give up on life. Even with all its ups and downs it’s still worth it.

I really really really love Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan/From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated. I am a sucker for all things villainess but this is just the cherry on top! I love the twists its done to the villainess and isekai genre.

I LOVE that he’s not dead and in a coma, he’s still connected to his first/original life. I like that he mentions and thinks of his first life. That there’s a chance he can go back to living his life as Kenzaburo Tondabayashi.

So often it feels like they just kill off the person and have them completely move on detached from the life and experience they lived as an excuse to make them op. Sometimes I wonder why not just have them be born in the fantasy world and just make them op?

I LOVE that it shows the perspective of his family! And that they can see what he’s doing AND CAN HELP HIM! I love that! I think that's such a unique and brilliant concept for this genre!

Usually with villainess manga the one reincarnated is a business woman/salary woman in her 20s or 30s so the fact he’s a middle age man is a fun twist. He acts like it too.

Also the elegance cheat is absolute gold!!

I really love this manga and the anime is doing a fantastic job recreating it! I was so excited for this week’s episode and I can barely contain myself for next week’s!

I hope to buy this manga soon (hopefully for my bday). I can easily say its one of my top favorite manga! I'm gonna reread the chapters available to tide me over until next week.

First Impression: Zenshu

Natsuko Hirose is a young hotshot animation director who skyrocketed to fame with her first production that was so relevant it became a cultural phenomenon. Her next series is set to take the world equally by storm—except that she’s suffering from writer’s animator’s block. Time is getting tight and her hair is getting long (she’s sworn an oath, Nazirite-style, not to cut it until she’s finished storyboarding), when, during a lunch break starring suspiciously colorful seafood, Natsuko collapses to the floor, choking, her face turning as iridescent as her ill-fated lunch. When she looks up, she’s in The Tale of Perishing, a failed anime from Natsuko’s childhood, and her single favorite work of art on account of its sheer incomprehensibility. Natsuko barely has any time to do herself and all otaku proud by geeking out appropriately over her surroundings and beloved cast, when the enemy strikes en masse, and a vital plot point—the critical death of the OG series—is set to unfold. But what can a lowly animator who looks like Cousin It in a purple hoodie do in such a scenario? It’s not like she has magical powers or anything…right? Right?! Wait, what is that in her pocket, glowing gently? An animator’s peg bar ruler?!? Queue transformation sequence montage!

AN OTOME SERIES WHERE A GUY GETS ISEKAI’D AS THE VILLAINESS???? HE’S LIVING MY DREAM!!!

This is already one of the best villainess shows of all time just because of that alone. It instantly differentiates itself from pretty much every other one besides maybe Tsunliese where they were playing the game in the real world while the events played out in the anime lol.

Close enough, welcome back Claire Francois. But it’s not just Grace’s appearance that makes this similar to Wataoshi. Anna reminds me so much of Rae lol. That awkward moment when you accidentally trigger the yuri route.. 😂 poor Grace just wanted to set up Anna with the princess, now she’s got an admirer

This episode was a riot all the way through. The animation is surprisingly great and the humor really lands. The MC being a 52 year old dad and salaryman with two adult daughters in his old life makes for a really interesting dynamic with he and the other characters here. He actually ACTS like a middle man too. Not perving out over the girls or getting all flustered. Just doing his best to be a villainess while doting on the people in this world, like a proud parent.

This has the potential to be an all timer. Again, HiDive don’t license a lot of stuff, but when they do they’re always bangers

Zenshu is the New Anime to Watch for Winter 2025

This is a love letter to animation as a medium. It is beautifully made and a delight to watch. Burnt out and struggling anime director Hirose Natsuko dies and reawakens in the world of the film that made her fall in love with animation "A Tale of Perishing" a dark fantasy about a dying world that ends in tragedy, but through Natsuko's powers of animation, she can rewrite and reanimate the story.

So far, each of her animations that save the day have been icons of anime history, which I won't spoil here. Bit I will say I am so excited to see what she draws next!
