i'm the kallus jovan anon again, never apologize for writing what is basically an entire angsty fic, it was an amazing raed. can i ask you more stuff about these two? like how did it go from kallus pov? tell me more about his youth in the underbelly of corruscant? why doesn't he have a family :( and what does he think about jovans parents and all of their lifestyles?
HI I'M ANSWERING YOUR ASKS OUT OF ORDER BUT WE BALL (also i love you thank you so much for letting me yap)
Okay, so Kallus' upbringing is so interesting to me and I have ALOT of thoughts about it
I have a another post thats kind of about this (but it's specifically about his sister, Anya (that I made up) so you can find that here, BUT i want to get into the nitty gritty of his upbringing anyways so HERE WE GO
Kallus' father passed away in a work related accident shortly before he was born, and his mother, unable to bear the stress of a dead husband, a newborn, and Coruscanti housing prices, prompty fucks off. Kallus' older sister, Anya, who is 16 at the time, takes it upon herself to raise her baby brother.
Tumblr media
They had lived in the mid-levels for a number of years (all of which Kallus was too young to remember), thanks to Anya taking up a ton of different jobs, but the Coruscanti housing prices rise like NOBODYS buissness and eventually they end up in the lower levels.
Although they were dirt poor (except there was no dirt because it's Coruscant) they were as happy as they could have been. Kallus was, by nature, an energetic, gritty little kid with undeniable ambition and drive, and Anya-- who at this point is more mom than sister-- worked hard so that she could give him to opprotunities he deserved.
Anya was a strong believer in getting a good education and she managed to get Kallus into the mid-level middle/high school that she had gone to (and graduated early from!) in her teen years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Coruscanti housing prices are still rising.
Kallus gets his first job when he's 12 (they dont gaf about child labor laws) as a dishwasher at one of the diners his sister works at because the owner had a real soft spot for "the sweet girl and her skinny kid." (Eventually he gets promoted to server but that's really besides the point) ANYWAYS
So basically, teenage Kallus, who is fighting tooth and nail to get THE HEELLLLL out of the lower levels via education, has a daily schedule that looks like:
4:15 AM - Wake up
4:30 - leave the house
4:45-6:45 - take the lift up to school (do homework on the way)
7:15 - 3:00 - School
3:30 - 5:30 - take the lift down (do homework on the way)
6:00 - 11:30 - work
12:15- go to bed
Dont get it twisted though, bro had HOBBIES (which included, but were not limited to, fixing broken droids, bad graphiti, pickpocketing, going clubbing, and just kind of running around with whimsy) (All of which he would do on his singular day off per week)
So basically this man has NEVER known rest in his entire life
It's after Kallus turns 18 and graduates that his sister passes away at 33. The lower levels are polluted, the air so smogged up and toxic that nearly everyone deeper than level 2000 gets sick at some point. Anya had lived the average length of a lower-level citizen, but that didn't console Kallus whatsoever.
Landlords are assholes, and the 2 year lease on his shoebox apartments name was under ANYAs name, not his, so landlord decides that he should kick this greiving 18 year old kid to the curb so that he can bump up rent for the next person.
Kallus, as any person would, spirals. He's couch hopping, he may or may not be partaking in mind-altering substances that may or may not be considered illegal, he is losing his goddamned mind. This is his rock bottom. And he realizes that he'd better get his shit together or else he'll be stuck in the lower levels swimming in alchohol and greif for the rest of his life (which would not be long).
And then news finally gets down to the lower levels (a month after the fact) that the Republic is gone, and that the Empire has taken its place. And the Empire doesn't want a clone army anymore, no, they want people to enlist. And do you know what enlisting means???
Free room and board
So Kallus hops THE FUUUCCKKK on this opprotunity, because who wouldnt????
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when he goes to enlist, he finds out that since he went to a school in the mid-levels he's elligable to test-in to the academy. Which he does, and succeeds at.
So now he's at the academy after the most insane and miserable month of his life, and there are all these rich ASSHOLES, who have just been living up here??? In the sun??? With money??? This whole time???
So he, of course, hates them all
But then Jovan shows up.
The only real kindness Kallus had ever known had been from Anya, his sister (mom?) who devoted her entire life to ensuring that he had a better one. Other than her, everyone Kallus had ever met was after something, weather that be money, a favor, ect. So when Jovan shows up, all smiles and niceness and whatever, Kallus doesn't trust him. Eventually, though, he realizes that Jovan is kind just for the hell of it. He's kind because he can be.
So he accepts Jovans friendship.
And Jovan teaches him how to fit in. How to dress, how to talk, how to act, ect ect. It's all a bit overwelming, of course, but Kallus is glad, because at least people arent looking at him all weird in the hallways anymore.
At the end of the year he finally properly meets Jovans parents after Jovan offers to bring him on their family vacation. And goddamnit, so wonder their son is so sweet, they are too.
Jovans mom takes him shopping for new clothes to wear on vacation, she buys him lunch, and when they come back she shows him all the embarassing baby-photos of Jovan that she had stashed away.
And when they go on vacation (on Naboo, ive decided) Jovans dad tries to teach Kallus how to fish, even though Jovans dad is not good at fishing, and really just wanted to wear a fun hat and sit by the lake for a few hours. (Kallus discovers that catching fish with his bare-hands actually has a higher success rate than when he tried with the pole)
Yeah, theyre rich upper-level-ers with soft hands, and they have no idea how bad things can get down in the lower-levels (and probably never will), but they're just so goddamned sweet. They're not like the kids in his classes at the academy who made fun of his unkempt hair, or his perpetual sunburn, or the way his accent was a bit off, theyre kind.
And Jovan is kind.
It's kind of a no-brainer that Kallus fell for the guy

I’m not done with the Kallus headcanons because he is my blorbo and I will make shit up about him if I want to
He’s an only child. While he wasn’t an accident, per se, his existence made his parents realise that actually they weren’t that into having children after all, and they never got any more.
After they parted ways when graduating the Royal Imperial Academy, he occasionally visited Jovan when he was on Garel for a job. These were short, uncomfortable visits.
He hides it well, but he’s a bit of a control freak. If he can’t oversee a situation, he gets panicked. With the Empire this rarely happened, because with his rank and capabilities he was often the one in command, and if not, he knew exactly what the command structure was and what protocols would be followed. When he joins the much more free and chaotic Rebellion, however, this becomes much more of a struggle for him.
Though born and raised there, he has no real affection for Coruscant, and wouldn’t care in the slightest if he would never return there.
He loves rain; loves hearing it slam against the windows of wherever he is staying now, loves standing outside and letting it fall on his face. Realising that most people around him hate rain, he has never shared this feeling with anyone and hardly ever acts on it either, contenting himself with soldiering on through rainy missions when most of his squad is groaning about it.
He is fluent in multiple languages (and proficient in a lot more). Because he is self-taught, learning from datapads or occasionally droids, he tends to have a rather thick accent, but his grammar and vocabulary are always flawless.
This is actually very unusual for an Imperial; in general everybody was expected to speak Basic, and they’d leave the lesser languages to translator droids. Knowing very well that droids can be unreliable — they can be tampered with, or simply malfunction —, preferring to stay in control himself, and having seen the effect not needing to rely on translation has on people (citizens tend to trust people who speak their own language more easily, and he has read up enough on Thrawn to have found out about his peculiar connection to his translator Eli Vanto) Kallus opted to ignore convention on this.
In the midst of the chaos of the Rebellion, sometimes he finds himself missing the Empire — at least things were organised and understandable there. He is terrified to admit this to anyone, afraid to have it be seen as wavering loyalty.
Much though he pretends otherwise, from the moment he joined the Rebellion the highlight of his day has been whenever Zeb visits him. Zeb always knows when he’s spiralling again, and how to pull him out of it. He’s the only person with whom Kallus feels truly safe, which is a completely alien feeling to him.

Headcanon: if Jovan and Kallus were lovers in the past, Jovan used to call him “Kal-ico” (like calico cat) because of the different color bruises and hickies he’d leave on him.

I think sometimes people forget just how old Alexsandr Kallus is.
Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide, which came out during season one, refers to him as “late 30s.” Season one of Rebels is set 5 BBY; if Kallus is 36-39 then, that puts his birthdate at 41-44 BBY, and makes him about a decade older than Kanan.
The Republic fell in 19 BBY. Kallus would have been 22-25 years old. The Clone Wars started in 22 BBY. Kallus would have been 19-23 years old. Academy service starts at age 16. Unless Kallus was a very late bloomer, it is extremely likely his recruitment and training happened not under the Empire but under the Republic.
I know Wookieepedia says “Kallus attended the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant, the main campus of the new regime's military training program,” but its source for that is the comic “Kallus’s Hunt,” and I have the comic right here and it never says that. Kallus talks a lot in the comic about what it means to serve the Empire and Imperial justice, but when he’s discussing his backstory with Jovan, it’s “We arrived on Coruscant and graduated from the main academy at the same time.”
Not “the Royal Imperial Academy”; “the main academy.” We know from the High Republic books that there has been an academy on Coruscant since at least the High Republic era. There is no particular reason to believe from this comic that the academy was under Imperial control at the time Kallus attended it, and in fact his backstory with Jovan (they were friends at the academy, then had a philosophical difference later in life about what it meant to serve the Empire) makes a lot more sense if the “serving the Empire” part comes after their time at the academy together.
The other time Kallus references his academy days is in “Through Imperial Eyes,” when he asks Yularen if he remembers him “from the academy,” and Yularen says “Of course… I keep tabs on all my star pupils.” Again: “the academy.” Not “the Imperial Academy.” And we know from Clone Wars that Yularen’s career starts as a Republic Navy officer; why assume he was teaching Kallus under the Empire? Given how busy Yularen was in the early days of the Empire, it makes a lot more sense if his time teaching at the academy predates the Clone Wars. You know: back when Kallus was the right age to be at the academy.
Tl;dr: like Yularen and Tarkin, Kallus is probably a former Republic officer who stayed to become an Imperial officer after the change of regime. His intensely pro-Imperial feelings in early Rebels don't come from being indoctrinated from childhood; they come from having served under both the Republic and the Empire and concluding (or convincing himself) that the Empire is better. And I find that much more interesting as character backstory.

WIP Snippet!
I Know You Can’t Hear Me (But Baby I Need You to Save Me Tonight)
Kallus and Zeb were hiding from the hot sun beating down on them in the shade of a large tree that sat near their sparring ground.
“There was one person I don’t feel bad about arresting,” Kallus was saying. “His name was Jovan, he was a classmate of mine in the Academy. We were friends until we became rivals. He liked me but not more than he hated that an orphan from the underworld was going to take the  top spot. He tried to cheat on the final tests to get ahead and got caught. His parents saved him from getting kicked out but he was stuck with being a supply officer in the outer rim. I arrested him for smuggling Imperial property around the same time I met you all. He tried to convince me to let him go, claimed I owed him for helping me get through the Academy.”
“Oh please,” Zeb cut in, “that snob didn’t get you anywhere. I saw your test scores when they pulled your Academy file after you joined, you were running circles around those nerfherders.”
Kallus snorted softly.
“You should’ve seen their faces when I was selected for the ISB program over them.” His smile faded quickly. “In retrospect, I suppose I got addicted to that feeling… it made me accept a lot of things I shouldn’t have.”
Zeb nudged him out of his guilty thoughts.
“Hey, you’re not that guy anymore.”
The smile returned to Kallus’ face, grateful this time.
“Had a similar experience, actually.” Zeb reminisced.
“Really?”
“Yeah, there was this guy I went through Honor Guard training with. I guess my great-great-great-great-however many greats grandfather beat his when the first Queen of Lasan was choosing a Captain of the High Honor Guard. The family never got over it an’ it became a blood feud or somethin’. All through trainin’ we were neck and neck, and the whole time he was sayin’ I wasn’t fit to be the next Captain. Didn’t stop when we were Guards either, an’ he was pissed when I did take my father’s place.”
“What reason could he have besides envy to think you’d be unfit for a role you’d prepared for your whole life?”
Zeb scratched the back of his neck self-consciously and mumbled, “Well, I was a bit of a trouble maker as a kid.”
“You? Nooo.” Kallus smirked as Zeb swatted his shoulder good-naturedly.
“Quiet, I’m telling a story. Yeah, there were a lot of expectations for me but it ain’t like my family was strict. Suppose they figured I’d find my way to bein’ the next Captain at my own pace. But it was hard to imagine me taking over for my adan when he was the perfect example of what the High Honor Guard should be.” Zeb’s playful demeanor sobered. “Then he died…”
The other man placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. Zeb patted his leg gratefully before continuing, “He took a bad hit defending the Queen. Lasan was peaceful but there was still the rare assassin every few reigns. The last thing he told me was that it was time to become the Honor Guard he always knew I would be.”
Old self-doubts started worming its way into the back of his mind. Was father wrong about me? I failed to protect Lasan. The royal family, our people, they’re all gone while I’m still here. Maybe Pike would’ve been a better Captain… maybe they’d’ve lived.
Kallus flicked one of his ears.
“Stop that. If I’m not allowed to feel bad about myself than neither are you.” He went on more gently, “You were an exceptional Captain and you made your father proud.”
Zeb looked at him dubiously but couldn’t hold back a grin.
“You didn’t even know me back then, Sasha.”
“And you didn’t know me when I was in the Academy. Maybe I cheated on those tests too.”
“Hah! I think I’d like you even more for scammin’ the system like that!”
Kallus stared into the distance thoughtfully for a moment.
“Do you think we’d have been friends if we’d met as children?”
“Absolutely.” Zeb answered without hesitation. “A snarky street punk who learned to talk fancy from readin’ old books and knew how to throw a punch? We’d’ve been thick as thieves, mate!”
“In my case, I actually was a thief. I doubt your parents would think me a good influence on you.”
“Nah, my mum and dad were never judgmental like that.” His expression was wistful as he stared at Kallus.
“They would’a liked you.”
It was an impossible fantasy. They’d grown up a galaxy apart from one another; one with high expectations and looming responsibilities, the other trapped in sunless poverty beneath the weight of a corrupt and uncaring world. But it was a beautiful dream nonetheless…

DEFECTORS, DEFECTORS, DEFECTORS-
For you? Always friend 🫂💙💙💙 😘😘😘🥰
(Stars, I badly need to organize our docs for Defectors. I'm scrapping together to see what im pretty certain I haven't shared or gone into detail of yet.)
----
The main story of defectors will be split into two or three main parts, I think. (All of it will be in the same fic, though. The chapters will just be grouped into the parts.) Probs 3.
[I have a feeling I'm going to ramble a lot in this one so I'm going to go ahead and place a cut here😅]
The Bridgers//part i
There's going to be the first 5 years, from the night of the Bridger Raid, when Ezra is 7 in 12bby through to 7bby. This is the time span in which Kallus is taking care of Ezra, slowly losing his loyalty over the span of 4 or 5 years.
Year I
Kallus is loyal during the first year, and is conflicted about the exceptions he makes for the bridgers. For Ezra. It does and doesn't go against what he was trained for. To him, the situation is much more complex than the empire would view it and he wasn't prepared for that. His training hadn't included young children and he himself being young at this point doesnt know what intitive to take. So he's figuring things out. And he reasons it with himself, convinces himself that while he's crossing into a grey area in the eyes of the empire, that the goal of this is to establish order, therefore he is still carrying out his duty.
This first year is him trying his best to learn how to take care of a child and gain that child's trust. (Because if Ezra can't trust him, Kallus won't be able to take care of his needs. Lack of trust will mean lack of desire to communicate needs.)
Through the year, Kallus also works on some of the cases Mira and Ephraim give him while they do as promised and integrate into the rehabilitation program. He quickly realizes that they aren't the type of people he had thought they'd be, but more similar to the person who had taken him in when he was young. He isn't sure if he's taking back some of his judgment from objective observations he makes about them or because of how much they're hitting one of his soft spots and he's becoming bias.
So he turns his focus to the work they give him. Which is releasing civilians who were arrested due to a misunderstanding or without any real proper cause. Ones whose cases would have sat in some officer's desk for months, or even years, before being gone through properly. All while the civilians in question would have still been in detainment. Busy work, but Kallus is helping them and it's motivating Mira and Ephraim so he doesn't mind doing a few extra hours of work every other day.
•Before the Bridger Raid, he had done quick work of climbing ranks within the ISB branch. Having finished top of his class already put him farther ahead. By night of the Bridger Raid, he is either ranked 101 or 100. So not to double digits yet, and him being there on the cusp is the end of being able to quickly climb ranks because of how further more ruthless the shark competition is.
•Kallus enlisted to the academy when he was 14 in 21bby. He lied about his age to get in because the bare minimum requirements is that you had to be at least 18. The recruiter knew he was full of shit about his age but still allowed him to join because Kallus was eager [desprate].
[The idea of Kallus enlisting at such a young age is inspired from a conversation we had awhile back with @heart-of-a-rebel16 💙🫂]
•Jovan had been a major help to him in the academy, and because of his help in finding footing, Kallus was able to qualify for the new ISB training program that became available a year later. Kallus graduated sometime around 18 or 17bby, still top of his class. It would be very soon after that that he was on Onderon, when he was around 18.]
•Kallus’s parents had died when he was very young. He barely even remembers them. For a few years he was treated as a feral alley cat; a sewer rat. When he was around eight or nine, a miralukan chef from a restaurant a few levels up slowly worked on trying to gain Kallus’s trust. And they eventually did. They took Kallus in as their own and looked after him. Kallus had slowly built trust with them, and even looked up to them. However both Kallus and the chef became sick when an virus swept through the lower levels- Kallus had just turned 14 and barely survived. Most who were sick didn't, the person who took him in among them. So when recruiters swept their way through the lower levels, Kallus seized his chance immediately, was willing to do anything to ensure his basic needs would be met and that he could dedicate himself toward a worthy cause.
Year II
The second year Kallus has grown more confident in his ability to take care of Ezra and unknowingly more attached. There isn't anything anyone can't adore about this sweet kid. By this point, Ezra has started coming out of his shell and Kallus has visibly become much more relaxed and gentle.
During the second year, Kallus works on trying to build good relationships with Tseebo and Morad. They have vital roles in Kallus’s ability to make the deal with the empire/the warden feasibly work. And for that to be done smoothly, it would be best if he also has their trust. It's hard for him to try and be friendly or personal; the loss of the squadron he had been a part of still unpatched.
He's opened up more to Mira and Ephraim, has seen how similar Ezra truly is to them. He decides to start negotiating with the Warden on shortening the sentence. He does manage to get it cut down, but he isn't satisfied so it's something that he goes back and forth with him on.
He's also realized a pattern between the behavior of imperial officers and wrongfully arrested civilians and has been working on correcting that behavior. Try and fix the problem at where he thinks the source is.
He learns more about lothal and some of it's traditions. Mira loves to talk about it and some of the ways she would suggest the empire change in order to best change and support lothal. Kallus takes notes of that and in his down time does research on that.
Kallus learns that Ephraim had also lost his parents at a young age, but the town he lived in endlessly supported him. And that's the type of community he wants to help build and maintain for Ezra to have and be a part of when he's older, for Ezra and for the future of Lothal. Kallus includes that in his notes and has a moment of curiosity- if the lower levels of coruscant had the resources to take care of themselves, would they have had the same compassion that lothalites had for each other?
Mira and Ephraim add in cases in which citizens were arrested simply because of not having resources. Of those who aren't able to take care of themselves. Or those who have people they needed to take care of. Kallus begins on helping them as well.
Year III
Kallus has taken initiative of helping establish systems of support on lothal by giving ideas and leeway to Governor Azadi and Minister Tua. They're both thrilled, and with Kallus helping back them to the other branches of the empire by advocating that if these changes are made, rebel activity will be lowered. They've been implementing these systems in short bursts, but without approval of the empire, the programs will die off or be reported since it isnt official imperial regulation.
He keeps getting ineffectual and half-arsed responses on the situation concerning the bridger's hearings. Mira and Ephraim have been exceptionally patient. Far more than he is. He was able to lessen their time, but by the time they're to be released, Ezra will nearly be an adult himself. It's not soon enough. Not for how compliant the two have been to everything asked of them.
Kallus has also been getting draw back from his superiors, been met with resistance for the changes he'd been trying to implement. That he can do as much extra altruistic work in his time, but not to bleed that over and confuse it with enforcing the regulations and mandates. They don't want to allow Kallus to reason with them on it. And many of the officers have been more and more distasteful and unaware. He hates that he's starting to feel seeds of resentment, so he carefully keeps attempting to get his reasoning across that this produces the best results. There's so much back and forth and near the end of the year, he sees how Ryder is also getting pressed into a similar corner. He starts to wonder if the empire is simply making mistakes that they're choosing to stick to or if they might actually not have what's best in mind.
Year IV
Kallus still has some hope at the beginning of the year, but as the year goes on its harder and harder to believe it. Near the beginning of the year, Ryder was accused of treason. His replacement seemed to have been aware of it before either of them were. Kallus met her months before and she's worked around on operations with him. He doesn't trust her and starts to lose trust in Tua when she seems to attempt to get into Pryce’s good graces. Kallus is much more careful about what he says around either of them, especially the months following azadi's arrest.
His impatience and anger toward his fellow officers has increased as they continue to ignore his corrections, saying that it's not protocol or not their job to take into account.
Kallus wishes to speak to Mira and Ephraim about it, but he worries that he could put them in harm's way since none of them can speak freely. He's been fighting harder to get Mira and Ephraim released as soon as possible. But he's run out of strings to pull. Over the past few years, he'd accepted several promotions in hopes that having a higher standing will give him more influence over their case. But now, instead of being met with weak responses or excuses, he's being downright denied.
At one point he was offered that if he stops fighting the front of keeping Ezra from being enlisted into the academy, that Mira and Ephraim could be released on probation. Kallus shoots that down immediately. He is not even going to entertain that notion. Ezra is too young. And he isn't even going to bring it up to the kid, because Ezra will feel that it's his responsibility to give his parents the chance for their freedom. Kallus will have to be dead for that to happen. He isn't going to allow it.
He's not out of options yet. So he's going to keep trying.
Things on lothal have been getting worse. He can't keep up with the cases of citizens being arrested and detained. The empire is choking lothal and its people. This isn't what he thought the empire stood for. When did this happen. [It's been like this and slowly getting worse, he realizes.]
Year V
By this point the only thing keeping Kallus in the empire is the fight for the Bridger’s freedom and the fact that if he simply walks away, he's putting not just Mira and Ephraim indanger, but also Ezra and Tseebo and Marida and Morad. Anyone he's grown close to. The empire would not just detain him, but go after them as well. He isn't sure what he's going to do, but he can figure that out once he's freed Mira and Ephraim. Near the end of the year he realizes that he'll just have to free them himself. He'll talk things out with the Sumars once he return from a mandatory operation across the galaxy. Once he returns, they'll make a plan of action.
-But Lasan happens. And in the same point as does Mira & Ephraim being rerouted to a prison off lothal. He tries to act quickly, if he doesn't persue Mira and Ephraim now they'll be lost but he can't bring Ezra with him deeper into the Empire.
Tseebo disappears, and Ezra refuses to be found, Morad tries to reassure him that he and Marida will find him. Kallus tries to work as quickly as possible to find Mira & Ephraim and bring them home. Stars, let him find them within a couple months.
^^^^^ [this is an organization of thoughts I've been trying to figure out and finalize for months now. ]
The Search for Mira&Ephraim//part ii
The next section will pick up right after that and through to s2e11, the era of Kallus searching for Mira & Ephraim, becoming more and more desperate as time goes on.
He helps any rebel cells when he has the chance and smuggles imperial captives away. He works with Morad and Marida when he has the chances.
Over the course of this arc, he grows closer to Marida. She's still very reluctant. Morad has helped Kallus from completely neglecting himself. He tells Kallus how they have been able to find ways to make sure Ezra is getting food and proper clothing, but any time they even see him, Ezra disappears. Steadily avoiding them.
Kallus makes himself blend back into the empire. Figures out how to produce results by framing imperial supports who actively commit crimes themselves. This aids him in gaining ranks, the higher his rank, the more classified information he's given access to.
Though, he's moved up to ISB-051 and still can't find the Mira & Ephraim.
I'm thinking of having Kallus fake Tua's death. Passes her more information to give to the rebels in addition to what she has.
Fulcrum//part iii
This would be everything from after Mira&Ephraim's deaths up to the liberation of lothal.
---
Epilogue
And then the epilogue was originally just going to be maybe a couple additional lengthy chapters of afterwards.
But I thank @mystical-salamander for going back and forth with me so much in the comments of this post because Defectors will be getting an entire spinoff as an epilogue.
So there will be
-The Concept Dump of Defectors AU
-The Fic Itself
-The Epilogue Spinoff
-and then collection one-shots that aren't part of the main story or that explore possibilities that didn't make it to the 'canon' of the au.

Oooooh all those WIPS look so good! Share about the pre Kalluzeb hate sex, the accidental spicy comm call, and whichever you're the most excited about?
Lol, okay
•Kalluzeb hatesex is pretty much just smut. Fight after fight, Zeb starts poking fun about how Kallus is too pretty to be in battle all the time, he might hurt his handsome face etc. And Kallus starts to get super agitated about it because hes still trying to capture/kill this guy, but also realizes they both have a pretty noticable physical attraction to each other. Eventually it boils over and Kallus is like, "I will only offer this ONCE" and Zeb accepts. They proceed to take out out their frustrations on each other quite intimately.
•Accidental Spicy Comm is inspired by a post made by @bearboyboy in which somehow Kallus accidentally pocket-dials a comm that happens to be in Zeb's possession while having some personal time. Zeb listens in to hear some rather lovely sounds, thinking the breathy voice seems familiar. It ends up that Kallus finds out he's being listened to by the guy he's thinking about while pleasuring himself but doesn't hang up immediately. Zeb is like "idk who you are, but you sound real nice, and since we both have some privacy, how about a helping hand/voice" prompting Kallus to make even LOVLIER sounds.
•I'm actually weirdly excited about Agent Kallus: Academy Student. It's meant to be a side-story that ties into my longfic Sweet Adventure, but can be a standalone. It follows the life of Kallus while he attends the Coruscant Royal Academy with Jovan under the tutelage of Yularen. The vibe of it is intended to feel like attending college with a dorm room and campus, but still in-universe and canon-compliant. Think typical college kid struggles, roommates are insane, car breaks down all the time, food is questionable, studying is exhausting, etc.

Oh, look at me! Another sneak peek in less than a week! Crazy but it's true 🤣 Enjoy!
“Make no mistake,” he says, “you will break. Even you have a limit, and I know how to get you there. It’s up to you how much you suffer in the meantime.”
Kallus doesn’t deign himself to reply to Prumell, just glare at him pointedly. At this point, his stubborn silence is as powerful as any insult he could spat. Prumell seems to forget that Kallus is just as skilled in getting under people’s skin as he is and knows how to flip the situation to his advantage. He knows how prone to anger Prumell is. Despite his drugged state, Kallus notices the tells on him pointing out that he’s halfway there, such as how tight he holds his fists behind his back, the octave lower in his seemingly dispassionate voice, and the subtle but noticeable pulsing vein on his temple.
“You’re stubborn, Kallus, I’ll give you that. And loyal to those who gives you scraps of attention. I thought you finally had overcome that flaw when I heard you arrested your pal Jovan, but I guess I was wrong.”
For much that Kallus wants to stay passive toward Prumell’s words, his fists tighten. His history with Jovan is a sore spot that he doesn’t want to revisit.
“I remember how you followed him in the Academy like a puppy. It was a pathetic sight, but an understandable one, I suppose. How else a scum of the lower levels like you could’ve behaved? The only reason I can think of for Jovan to take pity on you is that you were good at sucking his cock. His depraved exploits with other students were hardly a secret.”
Kallus can’t almost contain his satisfaction for the opening Prumell just gave him. On the record, Prumell is the perfect heteronormative image of an Imperial officer.  Married to a high-class woman with two point five kids and a pet. But Kallus knows a whole different side of him. Jovan’s adventures in the Academy pale in comparison to the ones Prumell indulges in from time to time.
Back in the Academy, Kallus never figured out why Prumell hated him so much. It’s true that aside from Jovan, the cadets never were friendly with Kallus, but Prumell was the most bullish of all. It’s now that dawns on him why that could be.
“Oh!” Kallus says. “You were jealous!”
Prumell stops in his tracks and glare at him. “What?!”

I love the Kallus & Jovan lore so much!!! Can I ask, how much of it is Zeb aware of and what does he think of... aaaaaaall of that? I can imagine him having like three or four different reactions and can't decide what makes the most sense

For the wip game pretty please:
I Care About You/Cared For
Come Back Home
Heart Of A Rebel
Yessss thank you, here we go!
I Care About You / Cared For
Set quite soon in my Kalluzeb series (according to the current chronology there are only two parts in between this and the last one I published), this story features Zeb falling ill and Kallus, noticing his absence, looking him up and looking after him. It has two titles because it's gonna be two parts: I started it from Kallus's perspective but then found myself figuring out Zeb's so often that I ended up mapping that into a full companion story as well.
I don't have any of the prose written yet, so here is a snippet of the scripts of each:

Come Back Home
A little further down the line, this takes place shortly after the events of A New Hope and has Kallus decide to re-infiltrate the Empire as Fulcrum because he was most useful to the Rebellion like that. He does well, shooting through the ranks of the Imperial military and in the meantime securing amazing feats for the Rebellion, but he finds out that he isn't as Imperial as he thought anymore, the way the Empire works deeply sickening him.
Once again here is part of the script for lack of actual prose:

Heart Of A Rebel
This is my Kallus prequel, detailing his life from when he was sent to the Republic Children's Military Academy at the age of four up to his adventure on Bahryn with Zeb that changed everything. The first chapter of this, set in the time of the Republic, is already published, but I have three more mapped out, about his time at the Imperial Academy and mission to Onderon, the mission to Lasan, and his work at the ISB.
Here's a snippet from the second chapter:

And that's them!

Writing Kalluzeb Every Day for a Year - Day 27
Idea: (February Writing Challenge 2023: Day 9 – First Flight)
Alexsandr’s first flight into space was shortly after joining the Imperial Academy. The cadets were being taken off world to another facility for two weeks to expose and familiarize them with operations in other outposts. To get used to the idea of transition and adaptation in a short time period.
Many of the cadets like Alex had never left the Lower Levels of Coruscant, let alone the planet.
Alex tried not to be too obvious about wanting a closer position to the view-ports but he wasn’t the only one subtly fighting for a position.
He felt the transport lift off and his eyes snapped to the nearest view port, Jovan’s condescending chuckle next to him.
“Calm down, Kallus. You act like you’ve never been in a transport before. It’s no different.”
But it was different. Jovan didn’t understand.
Yes, the sensation was the same, but the view was different.
He watched as the buildings, the Upper Levels that once towered over him and his kind, were falling away beneath him. He was leaving behind the, supposedly, untouchable and unreachable and going even higher.
All the corruption and indulgence of the upper classes were falling away from beneath his feet and he was going somewhere higher. Somewhere bigger and greater than all of them.
He was going somewhere clearer and with greater meaning.
Kallus’s eyes shone with determination as the atmosphere of the planet faded away to the dark and light spotted expanse of space and his path into a greater galaxy.
-
Garazeb’s first flight into space was the day after Lasan fell.
There was fire and rubble, screams and crying, the palace was gone and so were the people he’d sworn to defend.
His people were destroyed, his planet was dying.
And he meant to die with it. To die with honor taking as many of the enemy out with him.
But the explosion had knocked unconscious. He wasn’t there to defend anyone. He failed.
A few other survivors had grabbed him in his shock and grief and dragged him to a transport. Some wookies had come around and assisted on taking them away, to retreat.
Zeb hated every second of it.
He gripped his hands into fists, claws digging into the flesh of his palm. His head spun from the strange movement and possible head injury.
He was leaving, he was retreating, he was running away, and it was all they could do.
Garazeb looked out the nearest view port at the devastation below.
He’d never seen his home from so high up, had always meant to, to see the sprawl of beauty that was his home and his duty to protect. Now he was seeing it and it was all gone. Blackened, smoking, and scarred.
His vision blurred and his eyes burned. He couldn’t look anymore at his failure.
He fell back against the bench of the transport staring at nothing, his head spinning with loss and uncertainty of what to do now, of what was to come.
His eyes vaguely registered the change from atmosphere to the cold, star-speckled, dark expanse of space for the first time.
