"Avengers Assemble" in New Comic

Marvel Comics has announced a new limited series Avengers Assemble, spinning out of Jed MacKay's Avengers run. Avengers Assemble is written by Steve Orlando, who will be joined by various artists throughout the 5-issue run like Cory Smith, Scot Eaton, Marcelo Ferreira, Valentina Pinti, and more. The comic will feature a new threat each issue.

During the Blood Hunt "a ragtag group of volunteer Avengers set out to change the tide of battle. And in the aftermath, Captain America will form the Avengers Emergency Response Squad! Steve’s handpicked team of veterans and newcomers live and train in Avengers Mansion, and when Captain America sounds the mission horn, whoever’s on base has seconds to pack up and deploy." The team consists of Steve Rogers / Captain America, Wasp, Clint Barton / Hawkeye, Hercules, She-Hulk, Photo, Night Thrasher, Lightning, Wonder Man, Shang-Chi, and Julie Power / Lightspeed.

The AVENG.E.R.S. first test comes after "the Red Skull’s daughter discovers a dangerous artifact, Cap, Wasp, Photon and Shang-Chi set out to stop her—while Hawkeye hosts a poker game for the late arrivals." (Marvel Comics)

Avengers Assemble #1 (of 5) goes on sale on September 11, 2024. The first issue will sport a main cover by Leinil Francis Yu, an Avengers Jacket variant cover by Cory Smith, a variant cover by Emilio Laiso, and a variant cover by Betsy Cola.

Here's 100 of the albums from 2024 that i''ve enjoyed the most: 50 hip hop records, and 50 albums in other genres. There's still a ton of stuff I haven't gotten to yet or need to revisit, but i'm feeling pretty good about this and don't think too much would change aside from the order. Insane year for music overall, and surely there will still be some big releases in the next two months. Biggest surprise for me was definitely The Cure making a comeback after almost two decades and putting out their best album since Wish. I'm also convinced that Robert Smith is an actual vampire. he still sounds great after all this time. Charts with album titles included Again, i'm sure there's plenty of stuff that has gone under the radar for me so as always i'm open to recommendations. Let me know what your favorite records are, i'd genuinely like to know. I'll post the list of albums below, and maybe at the end of the year will do some kind of spotify playlist with one or two songs from each. Peace.

New law aims to stimulate food production in Brazilian cities

Increased local food production, improved transportation, job creation, and enhanced food distribution to low-income families are among the potential benefits of the National Policy for Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture, signed into law by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on July 26. Experts agree that while the policy has significant potential, its success will rely on public incentives and effective coordination among federal, state, and municipal governments.

The newly passed law defines Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture (AUP in the original Portuguese acronym) as agricultural and livestock activities conducted within urban areas and their outskirts. The goals of AUP include enhancing food and nutritional security for vulnerable urban populations, creating alternative income sources and job opportunities, and supporting family farming, cooperatives, associations, and solidarity economy organizations. Additionally, the policy aims to integrate with supply programs and public procurement for schools, nurseries, hospitals, and other public institutions.

Jaqueline Ferreira, Research Director at Instituto Escolhas, outlines the sector's significant growth potential. “We’re discussing agriculture that already occurs in cities but remains largely invisible. Major cities and capitals across Brazil have such initiatives. However, because agriculture has traditionally been linked to rural areas, urban producers often lack access to public policies and support, as they are not recognized as agricultural establishments,” she explained. She noted that key challenges include accessing credit and formalizing these enterprises.

Lisbon Ripper

The Lisbon Ripper murdered and disemboweled 3 prostitutes in Lisbon, Portugal, between 1992 and 1993. The first victim was 22 year old Maria Valentina, who was found murdered in a cabin in July of 1992. She had been strangled, disemboweled and some of her organs has been removed.

The second victim was 24 year old Maria Fernanda, who was found by railway construction workers in January 1993, murdered in a cabin. Like the first victim, she was also disembowelled and some of her organs had been removed.

The final victim was 27 year old Maria João, she was found murdered near the same location as Maria Valentina and apparently, these 2 were friends. Like the previous victims, she was also disemboweled and most of her organs were removed.

The 3 women were all short brunettes named Maria. All 3 of them were drug addicts and prostitutes. It's rumoured all 3 women also had Hiv but no sources online confirmired this.

The murders suddenly stopped, which lead investigators to think either the murderer had suddenly just decided to stop killing, had left Portugal or that something may have happened to him. In 2011, one of the suspect’s son went on a reality tv show in Portugal called “secret story” a casa dos segredos. The contestants had to confess to a deep dark secret and this candidate confessed that he knew who the Lisbon Ripper was and claimed it was his own father. The Portuguese police arrested José Guedes and he was questioned. Although he could not be convicted for the murders, because the statute of limitations for murder in Portugal is 20 years. However, he was suspected of the death of another victim, Filipa Ferreira in 2000. He was kept under arrest for further questioning, but was eventually released from prison in 2013 due to lack of sufficient evidence.

The case of the Lisbon Ripper remains unsolved to this day.
