The Hour is Coming
Yes, I assure you that a time is coming, in fact has already come, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and when they have heard it they will live! — John 5:25 | J.B. I was tagged by @simplegenius042 for “the worst ship chart ever” (which can be found here). Thanks :)
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: While everything about Taylor is “canon” because she’s my character, most of what I wrote about John is based on my headcanons and interpretation.
Transcript of the “Tell me why your ship is interesting.... GO!” section under the cut.
What draws them together?
“The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of”, but there’s also the realization that they have more in common than they initially believed and that they aren’t scared of being their true, vulnerable selves around each other. It’s their looks too, but mostly mutual understanding and acceptance.
What stands in the way?
At first, almost everyone and everything, including their own fears and morals.
What are their good traits?
Faithfulness, caring, and commitment, but also (and maybe, mostly) the trust that these are qualities their partner possesses.
What makes them hopeless at romance?
Taylor, maybe just the “normal” fear of getting hurt.
My headcanon is that John has never been in a romantic relationship before since love is a concept he simultaneously doesn’t fully understand and is terrified of. The other problem is that, the moment he finally experiences it, he becomes dependent, so he then has to learn to temper his passion.
Describe them with one trope:
Enemies to lovers!

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” —John 14:26 (ESV)
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.
But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” —Galatians 5:16‭-‬25 (NLT)
“Who Is The Holy Spirit?” Devotional Day 5 - “Is that You, Holy Spirit?” By Switch (Life.Church):
“Remember the magic of radio we talked about a few days ago? It feels magical, but if you understand a little bit about radio waves, towers, and antennas, some of the wonder fades. Hearing the Holy Spirit’s voice is sort of the same way. We never really lose the wonder, but when we learn how God speaks, it can start to feel more natural.
So, how do we know it’s actually the Holy Spirit’s voice in our head? It’s not as hard as you think. Remember that God wants to speak to you, and He built you to hear His voice. When you hear or feel something you think might be God, you can run it through a few simple tests to be sure.
First, test it against the Bible. Is that voice in your head asking you do something that doesn’t match up with God’s character as described in the Bible? If so, then it’s probably not the Holy Spirit. God never lies. And God will never direct us to sin or to make wrong choices. He loves humanity deeply, even the people that you don’t like.
So sometimes, He’ll ask us to do things that we’re sort of uncomfortable with, like giving someone a second chance after they hurt you or going out of your way to encourage someone you’d rather ignore.
That’s why reading the Bible is so important. The Holy Spirit can use what you read in the Bible to teach you about God’s character so that when you hear His voice it sounds familiar.
Next, you can test it against your own selfishness. As humans, we’re naturally selfish. So, when that voice in your head says to do the unselfish thing, or to think about someone else first—that’s probably the Holy Spirit. You know how it feels when a parent or a teacher encourages you to do the right thing, and you really don’t want to do it? On the inside, you resist it. That little rebellious voice—that’s not God. But, the voice that’s asking you to do what’s right instead of what’s easy—that just might be the Holy Spirit.
One final test—does it sound like something Satan would do? I know this one’s probably obvious, but if you haven’t read much from the Bible, it can be easy to confuse his voice for something good. Satan always makes things sound good, but one of the Holy Spirit’s jobs is to give you something called discernment. Basically, that means the Holy Spirit will help you recognize when something is coming from Satan instead of God. So, if the voice in your head is asking you to do something that sounds a little off, but you can’t quite pinpoint the reason—that’s probably the Holy Spirit helping you recognize the wrong voice.
Sometimes, people can throw God’s name around like a badge to do and say some ridiculous and sometimes hurtful things. Don’t do that. If you ever feel like God is telling you to do something that could hurt someone else, it’s probably not God.
There’s actually a great bonus test we find in the book of Galatians. It talks about the fruit of the spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. The Holy Spirit’s promptings will line up with those outcomes. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit asks you to be a little more loving. Or patient. Or kind. But He’ll never ask you to be the opposite. He’ll never ask you to be impatient or hateful.
And the great news is that if you aim to please God, He will honor the intent of your heart and make His voice obvious. Jesus said, “My sheep know my voice.” So don’t worry. When He speaks, you’ll recognize Him.
Tomorrow, we’ll bring this all together. Now that you know who the Holy Spirit is and how He speaks, it’s time to start a conversation with Him.”

"PRACTICE SPIRITUAL WARFARE FOR YOUR MARRIAGE"
If I were to choose the most important thing as the key that has kept my marriage united and healthy, I would have to say it is loving my husband and family more than myself and practicing spiritual warfare EVERY DAY! Since we are spiritual beings, we cannot direct our combat against a human person. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, “For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and…

by Joseph Philpot
"For whoever is born of God overcomes the world -- and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith." - 1 John 5:4
If we are to be saved our faith must gain the day; we must have a faith that shall triumph over death and hell and gain a glorious conquest over every internal and external and infernal foe. This is just the state, then, in which the matter stands -- we must either conquer or be conquered; we must either gain the day and be crowned with an immortal crown of glory, or else sink in the strife, defeated by sin and Satan. But none of God’s people will be defeated in the fight; and yet they often seem, as it were, to escape defeat by the very skin of their teeth; yet faith will sooner or later gain the day, for Jesus is its finisher as well as its author. He will crown the faith of his own gift with eternal glory. He will never allow his dear family to be overcome in the good fight of faith, for he will give strength to every weak arm and power to every feeble knee, and has engaged to bring them off more than conquerors. Thus as the Lord the Spirit is pleased to work in the soul by his living energy, he strengthens faith more and more to believe in the name of the only begotten Son of God, to receive more continual supplies out of his fullness, to wrestle more earnestly with God for a spiritual blessing, to stand more firmly in the evil day against every assaulting foe, to fight more strenuously the good fight of faith, and never cry defeat until faith gains its glorious end, which is to see Jesus as he is in the realms of eternal day.
