Floral designer Louesa Roebuck shows you how to make transcendent eco-luxe compositions with seasonal flora foraged from the West Coast
"The way of the flowers” has been studied for centuries, but as acclaimed author, artist, and floral designer Louesa Roebuck demonstrates, one needs to understand the rules in order to bend them. In Punk Ikebana, Louesa composes stunning arrangements and installations that unite the cultural traditions and elegance of Japanese perspective with exhilarating freedom from convention. Working with seasonally foraged, gleaned, and sourced flora from various regions of California, Louesa reveals how cinematic floral sculptures can be created by embracing the abundance right outside your door. Inviting nature’s often-overlooked treasures into your space means improvising in a moment of time, in a particular place. Exuberant compositions are created with what is on hand, establishing a harmonious dialogue with the flora, space, color, vessels, and textiles readily available. Aligning her deep commitment to the environment with her love of foraging, gleaning, and sourcing regionally, Louesa inspires you to cultivate your own vision and invite the wonders of the natural world into your home.

Wanted to do something like the official MM art for him, and it ended up being another perspective drawing lol. His design is so complicated but I love it so much (and also the curiass is easier to draw hfgdhdjd)

So uh... Immediately after Wrestle Kingdom, the big show that brings in both new and lapsed NJPW fans, and Wrestle Dynasty, the AEW crossover show that was intended to bring new overseas fans to NJPW... New Japan management decided to take the only commentary staff member who speaks any Japanese at all off commentary for two months? So the only remaining English language commentator will just not have any clue what anybody is saying during the entire show? Right when a large influx of new English speaking fans is expected? And they're doing all this just as Kidani, who owns NJPW's parent company, was complaining to Tokyo Sports about how NJPW isn't getting enough overseas fans? Have I got that right?

"Spamton...? Were you like this when you were the same as me? You are so handsome. I love you..."
A naive White Addison woman shares a dream with a former White Addison man, his hand hovering over her slender neck.
I will not lie: I wrote this in Japanese because the vertical text looks better than the horizontal English text. It should be read right-to-left. I rewrote the second sentence many times, and I hope it's OKAY!
My White Addison OC, Theta, sharing a dream with Spamton, but from her POV. During this dream, he is already BIG SHOT. They never meet while he is still an Addison. His SOUL projection still resembles his Addison self since he sees himself in her but negatively.
Spamton's version of the dream is wildly different. Distorted and darker, he lowers his left hand to strangle her neck but cannot bring himself to do it. He does not see her as a figure of comfort and beauty as she does for him but as an unsettling anomaly who fills him with disgust. However, she surprises him by feeling his face, blissfully unaware of his dark intentions.
For my psychological horror AU, LoveLetter.

i should have never dated an iranian person like i told myself i would never do it bc it would be too much intensity all in one place and i was RIGHT now that i've experienced it (smn who can engage in poetry in a similar way, talk in the same language, making all the cultural stuff gay and hot, etc) i feel like without those aspects things will just be missing Something like from now on . idk . let's drink black tea w saffron and then make out . i've never celebrated the solar new year or leapt over a fire the wednesday before or read romantic hafez poetry w someone who loves me romantically and now i crave it . so much

the more i learn about gyaru and its origins the less i subscribe to that basic definition of it being this super revolutionary super counter cultural thing
not that i think that that definition is entirely false per se but it’s definitely not the whole truth
two things can be true at once. the gals were standing out, yes, but there was still conformity within their anti-conformity
within the subculture there was a perceived age limit for how long one should be gyaru before they “return to polite society.” that in itself is not very counter cultural
then there’s the added pressure to be thin
which brings me to another thought
if you’re a gal in your late 20s and older it becomes painfully evident that the style was originally for teens and early 20somethings because the brand clothing is simply not made for a developed woman’s body. there’s also the added factor of them being asian brands and thus run “small” to begin with but my point still stands
i’m not saying all of this to belittle gyaru and of course there are gyaru who went/go against the grain even within the subculture
i say this because it’s a lot more complex and i think it’s worth talking about

sorry. I just saw another video with some guy being "hurr durr Japanese has two syllabaries plus kanji so why don't they just ditch kanji and one of the syllabaries and start putting spaces between the words" idk man why does English retain spelling patterns from a bajillion different languages instead of reforming spelling so that everything looks the way it sounds. that stuff fossilizes language history that no one's thinking about otherwise, it's really hard to convince a whole country or multiple countries full of literate people to change everything about the way they read and write, and, yeah, it does carry semantic value that you're underestimating the importance of as well. shut up. I don't ever want to hear about this again
#pickle pontificates#sorry. if your platform is even slightly educational/fun fact adjacent I don't ever want to hear this again about any language ever#like if you're learning and frustrated that's one thing but if you're trying to convey info don't do it through the lens of#''isn't this weird and stupid''#no. no it isn't. not to an extent that any other language isn't at least#not like I think japanese is in any particular danger because of these dudes the rhetoric just sucks#and you see people applying it to languages/cultures that ARE undervalued too *cough*welsh*cough*#language#gonna clarify more now that it's not 4AM while I'm trying to get ready for an appointment:#this guy wasn't the worst version of this take I've ever seen#like he was sorta half joking#the issue is that a lot of people tend to look at complexities in language from the perspective of a learner and say ''that's not logical''#''that's hard. why would they do it like that''#and the answer is ALWAYS because language was not crafted in a laboratory for maximum semantic efficiency#it's cobbled together out of history and blood and violence and love and emotion and a desire be understood#billions of people making tiny contributions over thousands of years#it's a living shifting beast and millions are actively redirecting its flow every second#of COURSE it's not perfectly logical#but if you can just look at those seeming inconsistencies for more than a second and consider where they came from#slowly it becomes more and more logical#you realize that you're not tracing a simple mathematical equivalency where x=y#you're picking up a story thousands of years in and it's full of references to previous plot points

Look, I'm not interested in playing Palworld and I've been actively avoiding the drama/controversy so I'd be perfectly happy with forgetting it's existence and moving on with my life if it weren't for just how obsessively UNHINGED the Palworld fandom is, barging in on EVERY. SINGLE. recent Pokémon post on multiple platforms just to pick fights and shill the hell out of their game to (most of the time) confused Pokémon fans who are wondering what Palworld is and where these people came from.
I saw this wonderful art of the Kamado battle in Legends Arceus and the Champion battle in Sun and Moon on Instagram and I shit you not, a good 70% of the comments are entirely Palworld people just ranting and yelling about how Pokémon sucks, Palworld is going to kill Pokémon, anybody who likes Pokémon is a bootlicker and are riding Pokémon's 🍆, how anyone who complains about Palworld is a (and I quote) """"saviourf*g""" for Nintendo etc
Like, I just wanted to share my nostalgia about Sun and Moon and so did a lot of other people considering that there were still people talking about it, but it was hard to find those comments because they were drowned out by the Pals Vs Pokémon warzone.
And the second someone says something a Pal fan doesn't like, it eventually devolves into the Pal fans throwing homophobic slurs around and calling the Pokémon fans neckbeards, and shills and basement dwellers and such.
I'm sure there's probably sane fans who are just happy going about and making their Pals break rocks or whatever, but a majority of the Palworld fans I've encountered so far are like edgy screaming 4Chan people. Like, holy shit I wish they would just go to their own Palworld fan pages instead of invading Pokémon and turning every comment section into the embodiment of this meme.
Tumblr media
(And I just want to address the whole "Pokémon Company is posting a lot more often recently because they're obviously scared of Palworld, lmaoooo why else would they suddenly start actively posting after months of radio silence 😎" argument that I've seen dozens of times.
First of all, the Pokémon channel/profile is always posting random game/anime/art screenshots. There hasn't been a sudden drastic increase of posts.
Second of all, it's A MONTH UNTIL POKÉMON DAY. THEY DO THIS EVERY YEAR. The influx of Snorlax posts is a promotional thing for Pokémon Sleep. Pokémon's just carrying on with their regularly scheduled hype building/ promotional stuff and the Palworld fans think it has something to do with them.(
