“Ian, might I trouble you for your pipe?”

“Oh! Um. Of course, lethallen.” His satchel, ever close at hand, rests behind him in his chair. He turns, tugging it into his lap. The pipe is easy to reach, a dedicated pocket keeping it from bouncing around in the detritus that gathers in any well-loved bag. He hands it over, along with the parcel of dried elfroot.

Solas accepts his offering, rising to his feet. “Ma serannas. If you need it back, you know where to find me.” He lingers for a moment, as though the statement is half an invitation, before taking his leave.

Ian watches until the door closes in his wake, the conversations of his companions a low hum that fails to break through the sudden haze of his thoughts until Varric nudges him.

“Sorry,” Ian says, looking aside at his friend. “Did–Did I miss something?”

Varric follows where his gaze had left, the path Solas had walked still clear of other patrons. “Not yet,” he answers, dropping his own eyes back to his cards with a smile tucked into the corner of his cheek. “I just asked if you wanted in on this next hand.”

Deep down, Bruce belives in Superman. His split second, gut instinct is that Clark Kent will save the day. Oh he has contingency plans and threat assesments up the wazoo, because he's Batman. He stockpiles Kryptonite because years of trauma and self-doubt have left him convinced that everything will go wrong and it will be his fault. But when the cards are down, when he's falling, Batman trusts that Superman will be there, Bruce sees Clark and in his heart of hearts he knows he'll be safe.

God I am OBSESSED with this panel. The sheer amount of yearning in Jason's eyes, looking almost shy. Sneakily stealing a glance at Dick. Dick smiling a little, staring up at the ceiling, completely unaware of Jason's stare.

This feels, like, CLASSICALLY gay. This feels like a scene you'd see in a movie or show where two characters are clearly pining for each other but haven't yet confessed (but it's clearly heading that way).

Like, there is ZERO way to interpret this as platonic or as "just hero worship". Especially in the context of the entire annual. It feels like a 150k slowburn fanfic the way this annual is written. This entire thing threw me off so badly when I just joined the fandom bc this doesn't at all feel platonic.
