In Football, when the offense declines a defensive penalty in the final 2 minutes of a half, the offense should have the option to add back any elapsed time

When it's in the defense's interest to commit a penalty because the elapsed time is a bigger benefit than a few yards, that's not fair to the offense.

For instance, there is 10-12 seconds remaining in the half. The offense is approaching midfield. They are just trying to get into FG range. Trying for 2 quick 10-15 yard sideline routes that will take 4-5 second each.

If the defense commits a holding penalty that prevents a WR from getting open, the offense only gets 5 yards but often loses more than 5 seconds.

Offense should get the option to decline that penalty and get the time back as if the play never happened. I'd even be open the offense getting the time back and the penalty yards, but that's not necessary.

Theories and Headcannons Pt.11

So this theory is basically how Real Life is Third Life created by the Watchers as a punishment for Grian and his group of friends or the other contestants.

After the success of the previous Life Series games that provived enough pain, anguish and drama to satisfy the Watchers, they decided to create a rendition of Third Life to torture Grian once again as afterall by lore standards, it was Grian who first created Third Life.

The twist the Watchers decided to implace onto Real Life where to incoporate compeititors such as Pearl who had a persona who would be easily influenced by bloodlust and dispose of the competitors that they had deemed too weak or ineffecient. This was all done in an attempt to replicate the feeling of torture and anguish at Grian and the other original contestants during Third Life.

But this ultimately failed as Real Life ended quickly through the combined efforts of the contestants crowning Cleo as the new victor. Completing the sextet of winners all linked together through their soul-link bonds. And having the Watchers fail in their endeavour to replecate Third Life as another death game punishment.

Six Sentence Sunday/Creative Proof of Life

This WIP post is basically a proof of life statement. I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted Chapter 1 of the Haunting of Simon Snow. I'm so overdue for chapter 2, BUT... instead I finished writing the rough draft. I've been attempting to outline, because when I rough a draft, I really rough it up. Ahem.

So I have been working on it, even if there is zero evidence on AO3 as of yet.

How about some sentences? I haven't sliced up chapters yet, so not sure if this is from chapter two or three, but here's a snippet of Simon on the phone with Penny expressing some smooshy sentiments:

I curl up on the couch a bit more, maneuvering myself so my wings aren’t crushed. “I went flying last night,” I confess then, in quiet tones. Like someone might hear me. “You— Oh, but… You can’t! What if someone sees you?” I can actually hear her biting her lip. She wants to spell my problems away, and she can’t. “But I can,” I say, smiling a bit more. “There’s no one around for acres. No one will even willingly drive here on account of the house being haunted. It’s empty. And I’m flying at night.” I say flying in the present tense and realize I fully intend to fly again tonight.

Penny huffs. Her specialty. “I don’t like it.” “I do,” I say easily, warming up to explaining, hoping she’ll understand. “It’s so freeing, Pen. Like the weight of the world can’t hold me down, anymore. I feel… It’s like… It’s like I’m closer to the stars. Like I’m close to stirring up the milky way.” I let out a sigh, my eyes closing as I drop my head back, indulging in that recent memory. “I don’t hate it as much, when I’m up there. You know?” There’s a few seconds of silence, and I open my eyes again. “Pen?” “Hate what?” she asks quietly.

Fun facts about my ineffecient writing process:

I spent more than one or two hours clearing asterisks from my rough draft this morning. (Because discord has trained me to do *this* when I write instead of this.) Because I'm trying to listen to my draft via screen readers, but it keeps sounding like "asterisk-impossible-star-fuck me" (that's my favorite one honestly, it's supposed to read "Impossible. Fuck me.") which is really annoying (more often than amusing). ANYWAY… what this has revealed to me is that I use "Fuck" a lot, as well as "So good." Ahem. Take from that what you will.

BTW, I'm sure there's an easier way to do that than manually. Please don't tell me for at least a few days, or I might lose it. I am but a mortal being, with a tattered heart and patience worn thin. (Or something.)

Civilian Tim shoots Joker on live television.

It's a whole daydream thing that started with Joker Junior though actually in this AU, there was no Joker Junior, it's just comics Wayne major-shareholder Tim Drake picking up a gun, Joker grinning at him, opening his mouth, and Tim just shoots him.

Something about 'not Robin so does not compromise the symbol and standards the Bats and Birds should always uphold' and it's just ineffecient to let him keep running around.

Like Joker being killed by a 'random Gothamite', which Tim Drake is. No personal grudge, no close family victims more than the usual Gothamite, just some guy in a shirt and pants and a gun on the ground, the Joker in front, and enough 'whatever' vibes. Just another case of, someone has to do it and if no one else is going to be that someone, then yeah I guess Tim can be.

Like, seems like no narrative theme or reason, no poetic justic or irony or a punchline for the Joker, he doesn't know this boy and he couldn't be Batman's civilian ID, was he even old enough for facial hair, just a boy out of the left field.

But ALL the consequences and after effects of it.

On Sisyphus (And why Camus imagines him happy)

The story of Sisyphus is one that hits particularly close to home, and I'm sure I don't need to explain what it's about.

Similarly, Albert Camus' interpritation of the story, the one that ends with "One must imagine Sisyphus happy" has become pretty famous too, albiet more of a meme. There's a lot to unpack here, but I litterally have nothing better to do, so let's find out why Sisyphus is one lucky guy.

Sisyphus attempts to outsmart the gods, and as punishment, he must roll a boulder up a hill, knowing that it will roll back down once he reaches the top. Not only is that pretty funny, it also seems disgustingly similar to how modern life works. Doing laundry, waiting for the weekend, you name it.

It is a common thought that these things are tedious and eat up our limited time on earth, thus making us miserable. With that mindset, you would imagine Sisyphus as the most miserable human on earth. After all, he has been condemned to spending the rest of his life only working a menial task without any reward or meaning with the task at hand.

This was undoubtedly what the gods had in mind when they handed out this punishment, but Camus claims that it isn't all that bad. Personally, the line in "The Myth of Sisyphus" (which is the essay Camus wrote on the matter) that sticks with me the most is: "One always finds [their] burden", which I try to remember before I make a decision that supposedly will make my life easier.

After all, the people wealth large enough to never have to partake in work or laundry or any of these things do not enjoy a perpetual state of bliss and unconcern (unconcern is apperently a word). Their burdens simply lie elsewhere.

What am I getting at with all this? Well, I'm saying that, provided he was given enough time to accept his situation, Sisyphus wouldn't actually be happier if he was one day let back into the world and relieved of his boulder hauling duties. He would probably be happy for a while, but he would eventually find his burden, and go back to hauling a now metaphorical boulder.

So far we've established why Sisyphus would be equally miserable with or without his boulder, but why then is Sisyphus supposed to be happy?

Well, it basically boils down to a misleading segway. See, Sisyphus doesn't have to be miserable when he hauls that shitty boulder. It sounds insane, and Camus even states the absurdity of it. But if Sisyphus wanted to defy the gods one last time, could he? Could he end up happier than before he even got his punishment and end up with the last laugh? Yes, he could, and here's how.

The key is not to recognise the abusrdity of the situation. Instead of thinking about what a waste of time and how meaningless this task is, Sisyphus must instead do the opposite: Attempt to do the task to his absoloute best ability, without yielding to the idea that this task is, inherently, meaningless.

Should he succeed in this fundemental rework of his way of thinking, he will start enjoying the work. See, humans have a deep need to do a good job. When you procrastinate, or cut corners, or whatever, you will feel a tiny hit of misery (probably shame). That's just how we work. But the opposite applies too. If you truly commit to your task, no matter how meaningless or ineffecient it is, you will get a tiny reward.

If Sisyphus decides to push that boulder with all his might, every day, knowing damn well it will roll down again, he will be happy. He has defied his own misery, and found meaning in the most meaningless of tasks. And when the boulder rolls down, he will breathe a satisfied sigh, and walk back down to start pushing again.

Sounds pretty absurd, huh? One must imagine the people that are free to do menial tasks everyday happy? Well, you are free to imagine anyone any way you like. But I certainly imagine Sisyphus happy, along with any garbage worker and bus driver that find joy in their work.

It’s odd that omega/omega is so taboo, when a male omega can still get a female omega with child. And that’s what their society loves right, lots of children! I might be misquoting you, but I recall there being a post where you mentioned something along the lines of Terry liking that Daniel had never been with an Alpha before, and finds omega/omega hot. Would it have been an issue to Terry if Daniel had been with an Alpha before him? What if he’d gotten with child?

Instinct wants survival of people above all else. Alphacentric society values exclusivity much more. Maybe being ride or die for every person alive, as an Alpha, is ineffecient - that's why they mark omegas and are, by and large, faithful. So Alphas being so possessive of omegas is their instinct too. Still, betas, omegas and even Alphas feel in their gut that two omegas can make a puppy, which nature wise is Good, but Alphas wanting to possess omegas is also Good, which drives Alphas spare with inner conflict which makes it taboo and hot.

Alphas may need to Go So Hard on the ownership because while for them, wanting to focus on one mate who they will be able to knock up regularly is beneficial, this whole exclusivity thing is not so great for betas and omegas. Betas don't get pregnant or impregnate that easily, they need to sleep around to increase their chances of success, and omegas have the superpower of both being able to impregnate or get pregnant by nearly all genders. Yes, heats are very good for snatching Alphas and getting pregnant almost 100% of the time. Alphas are the quickest way, but not the only way, and with no Alphas around an omega body will find another partner to reproduce with, eventually. Omega/omega pregnancies happen, but rarely, because they want an Alpha or beta protector too. Still, put two omegas together long enough, with no one else around, and a puppy will be born. And especially in harems with a strong Alpha presence and lots of omegas - a lot of those omega babies are fathered by fellow omegas, not the Empress or Emperor, because the protector role is filled, they're safe and they're free to get to it, ahem.

So if Danny boy had been with another Alpha...was he claimed? Then Terry wouldn't have him, not as long as that other Alpha was still alive since Terry would have to kill the other Alpha to claim Danny. Huge deterrent (though for Danny Boy? Maybe!) Was he claimed but that Alpha was dead now? No problem. Was he not claimed, but would have still had sex with another Alpha? That means baby would have been left unsupervised and unprotected, which is nearly impossible in this world for rich omegas like Daniele LaRusso. But had he been abducted and impregnated but not bitten, Terry would gleefully be the one to claim him for good. Claim the pup as his too. People adopt more readily because an Alpha who can raise a pup is a good Alpha, and again, helping pups survive brings status no matter whose they are. Alphas want to claim omegas, but the puppy does not have to be theirs genetically. They just need to accept the Alpha as head of the family. Again, see John Kreese and adopted omega pup Johnny Lawrence.

Would Daniele have been impregnated by a beta or omega, that would be a complete non issue. Proof of fertility, excellent! Terry would claim both Danny and the pup as his without a second thought.
