It seems like only a year ago you attempted to break up with your partner.
No—my deepest apologies—you tried to break up with your partner.
You see, he was the kind of lover who made you feel trapped. A man a few years older than you, with a stable job and a steady income, who somehow managed to fall for a mere college student.
That should have been your first red flag.
He begged you to move in, claiming your co-ed dorms weren’t exactly the safest. Did you really enjoy sharing a shower room with strangers? Was that the kind of life you wanted?
So, of course, you followed the hand that fed you. You were young, naive, and far too eager to believe in happily-ever-afters.
You moved in—why wouldn’t you? He was handsome, older, and confident, and his apartment was immaculate, with matching furniture. A dream for any broke college student.
He made space for you. A little nook for your “silly toys,” he’d tease, smiling warmly over his shoulder. He even set up a desk for you in his office so you could “spend more time together.” That is, until you spent that time playing video games instead of working on your finals.
He’d always find a way to scold you for it.
And then he started paying for your tuition.
At first, you refused—it was too much, and you had scholarships to rely on. But those scholarships suddenly disappeared. The donor funding your education pulled out, no explanation given.
So he stepped in. Your dutiful boyfriend.
He even showed you a spreadsheet, breaking down the mountain of debt you’d accumulate if you didn’t let him help. What choice did you have?
You felt bought out.
You felt like you’d sold yourself.
Desperate to regain some independence, you took up a part-time job. But even that became a problem. “I have money, let me take care of you,” he’d say, exasperated. Or worse: “Why are you working so hard when I’m here to make life easier for you?”
Still, you pushed back. For a little while, at least.
Until the day they let you go—just like that.
These strange occurrences… they made you overthink—his words, not yours—as you sat across from him at the café.
Your hands trembled as you raised the coffee cup to your lips, the warmth doing little to steady your nerves.
“Let’s break up,” you said softly, your voice barely above a whisper as you glanced away from his piercing gaze.
You caught the flicker of heartbreak in his beautiful eyes, a pain so raw it almost made you falter.
“I’m the problem, not you,” you continued, your words wavering like the hand that held your cup. “I just… I just need to get my life together.”
For a moment, there was only silence. The bustling cafĂŠ around you felt muted, like the world was holding its breath. His gaze remained fixed on you, unblinking, unwavering.
“That’s not fair,” he finally said, his voice calm, but there was a tension in it—a barely restrained crack.
Your chest tightened as you stared into the dark swirls of your coffee, avoiding the weight of his eyes. “It’s for the best,” you murmured.
He leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, fingers threading together as if he were holding himself together. “For the best? For who? You?” His tone was soft, coaxing, but there was a sharp edge beneath it.
You nodded, though the motion felt hollow.
He sighed, running a hand through his perfectly styled hair. “You’re not making sense. You say you need to get your life together, but I’m right here. I’ve always been here. Isn’t that enough?”
It wasn’t enough. That was the problem.
You swallowed hard, daring a glance at him. His jaw was tight, his lips pressed into a thin line. Those heartbreakingly beautiful eyes of his—once so warm—now felt like they were cutting straight through you.
“I need space,” you said, forcing the words out before they could dissolve into cowardice. “I need to figure things out on my own.”
His hand moved across the table, fingers brushing yours. It was a tender gesture, but it felt like a trap. You pulled back instinctively, and his expression darkened, just for a moment.
“Space?” he repeated, as if the word was foreign to him. He leaned back in his chair, his arms crossing over his chest. “I see.”
But he didn’t. You knew he didn’t.
He wasn’t the kind of man who accepted things like this easily. You could feel it—the storm brewing beneath his composed exterior, the questions he was desperate to ask but refused to voice.
“You’re just… throwing everything away?” he asked, his voice quieter now, almost vulnerable. “After everything we’ve built together?”
Guilt stabbed at you, sharp and unrelenting. “I’m not throwing it away. I just need to…” You trailed off, searching for the right words, but they evaded you, leaving behind an aching emptiness.
The sound of a plate clattering in the distance made you flinch. He didn’t. He just stared at you, his gaze so intense it felt suffocating.
“Is there someone else?” he asked suddenly, his voice low but steady, like he was bracing himself for the answer.
Your head snapped up, eyes wide. “No! It’s not like that.”
He studied you for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Then he leaned forward again, his voice dropping to a whisper. “You don’t have to lie to me. You owe me that much.”
“I’m not lying,” you insisted, the desperation in your tone surprising even yourself. “This isn’t about anyone else. It’s about me.”
A bitter smile tugged at his lips. “It’s always about you, isn’t it?”
You froze, the words hitting harder than they should have.
“I guess I should’ve seen this coming,” he said, leaning back in his chair once more. His eyes flicked to the window beside you, watching the rain drizzle against the glass. “You always did have one foot out the door.”
The knot in your throat tightened, but you didn’t respond. What could you say?
For a moment, the two of you sat in silence, the space between you feeling insurmountable.
Finally, he exhaled sharply and stood, tossing a few bills onto the table. “If this is what you want,” he said, his voice void of the warmth it once held, “then I won’t stop you.”
But as he turned to leave, you couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t over. Not really.
You managed to find a new apartment—a cheap, incredibly cheap one. The kind of place where the pipes rattled and the paint on the walls peeled if you so much as looked at it wrong. You had to take out a loan just to secure it, and as you stared at the mountain of paperwork, you felt the weight of your choices pressing down on you.
What had you been doing for the past year? Locked away in some castle. You almost cried just thinking about it.
The move was exhausting. Box after box filled with remnants of a life you didn’t recognize anymore. You left some things behind—things he’d given you, or things you couldn’t bring yourself to touch. It felt like shedding skin, leaving those pieces of yourself in the apartment you once shared.
A month passed in strained silence. You hadn’t heard from him, but you felt his presence everywhere. The way your phone seemed heavier in your pocket. The way every knock on the door made your heart jump. You told yourself it was paranoia, that he’d moved on.
Until one day, your phone lit up with a call.
His name stared back at you, bold and glaring.
You froze. The room felt smaller, the air thicker. The phone rang once. Then twice. Then thrice.
You didn’t answer.
When it finally stopped, the voicemail icon appeared, along with a text. You hesitated before opening it, your breath catching as you read the message.
"Can we talk?"
That was all it said.
But it wasn’t just the message. Attached to it was a picture.
Your chest tightened as you opened the image.
It was of your desk. Your old desk. The one from his office. On it sat your “small little toys”—the ones he used to tease you about. The picture was perfectly framed, almost artistic in its composition.
He still had your things. Of course, he did.
You told yourself you should’ve picked them up by now. That you’d been putting it off because you couldn’t stomach the thought of seeing him again.
But now… now you weren’t sure if going back was an option.
Your phone buzzed again, and you jumped.
Another text:
“You forgot these. They’re waiting for you.”
Something about the message sent a chill down your spine.
Waiting. That word lingered in your mind, heavy and suffocating.
You stared at the screen, your thumb hovering over the keyboard. You could just ignore him, pretend you hadn’t seen the message. But deep down, you knew he wouldn’t stop. Not until you answered.
And the worst part?
You weren’t sure if you wanted him to.
You told yourself you were overthinking. The picture, the message—it was just him being thoughtful, wasn’t it? After all, he was a caring guy. Always had been.
You stared at the text again. “They’re waiting for you.”
Your things. That’s all he meant.
Still, you hesitated. The memory of his voice, so calm and steady in the voicemail, echoed in your mind. It wasn’t like him to sound so… subdued. You’d expected anger, bitterness—anything but that gentle request.
Maybe you owed him this much. A chance to talk, to clear the air.
You typed out a quick reply:
“Okay. When?”
His response came almost immediately, as though he’d been waiting for you.
“Tonight. I’ll make dinner.”
Dinner. Of course, he’d turn this into a gesture of kindness. That was just like him—always going the extra mile, always making you feel like you were the center of his world. It had been suffocating at times, sure, but it wasn’t bad. Was it?
The memory of his smile tugged at your mind, warm and genuine, the kind of smile that made you feel like everything would be okay. You wanted to believe in that version of him, even now.
So, that evening, you found yourself standing outside his door. The apartment looked the same as you remembered—pristine, welcoming, like it had been plucked straight from a magazine. You knocked hesitantly, the sound of it feeling too loud in the quiet hallway.
The door opened almost instantly.
He stood there, his face lighting up at the sight of you. “You came,” he said, his voice filled with relief.
“I—yeah. For my stuff,” you replied, shifting awkwardly.
“Of course,” he said smoothly, stepping aside to let you in. “Come on in. I just finished cooking.”
The smell of something delicious wafted out, warm and inviting. It made your stomach twist—not from hunger, but from the strange mixture of nostalgia and unease settling in your chest.
You stepped inside, your gaze sweeping over the apartment. It was exactly how you left it. No, that wasn’t right. It was better. Cleaner. More organized. Your things, the ones you’d left behind, were neatly arranged in the same spots they used to occupy.
It was like you’d never left.
“I made your favorite,” he said, leading you to the dining table. The plates were already set, the soft glow of candlelight dancing across the surface. It was the kind of effort he always put in, the kind that used to make you feel special.
But now, it felt… off.
“You didn’t have to go through all this trouble,” you said, forcing a smile as you sat down.
He chuckled, the sound warm and familiar. “It’s no trouble. I just want you to feel comfortable.”
Comfortable. That’s what he always said when you’d been upset, when you’d tried to pull away.
The dinner was good—perfect, even. He talked about small things, work, how he’d been keeping busy. He didn’t ask about your new apartment, didn’t press you for details about your life. If anything, he seemed… patient.
When the plates were cleared and the conversation lulled, he stood and gestured toward the office. “Your things are in there. I packed them up for you.”
You followed him, your steps hesitant. The office looked exactly as you remembered it, down to the way your desk was arranged. Your “small little toys” were lined up neatly on the shelf, untouched except for the care he’d taken to clean the dust from them.
“I didn’t want you to feel rushed,” he said softly, watching as you looked over the room. “I know how much these meant to you.”
You glanced back at him, guilt prickling at your chest. He was smiling, that same warm smile that always made you feel safe. But there was something in his eyes—something you couldn’t place.
“Thank you,” you said, your voice quiet.
He nodded, stepping closer. Too close. You could feel the warmth of his presence, the subtle shift in the air as he reached out to brush a strand of hair from your face.
“You know,” he said, his voice low, almost tender, “you don’t have to go. You can stay here, where it’s safe.”
The words were kind, caring. But they lingered in the air, heavy with implication.
“I can’t,” you said, stepping back. “I—I have to go.”
His hand dropped to his side, his smile faltering for just a moment before it returned, softer, gentler. “Of course,” he said. “Whenever you’re ready.”
You swallowed hard and turned away, focusing on the task at hand. You quickly grabbed your little trinkets, each one feeling heavier than it should as you set them into the small box he had left out for you. The edges of your vision blurred slightly, and your mind felt strangely… woozy.
“You feeling alright?” His voice was warm, almost teasing, and you could hear the smile in it even though you weren’t looking at him.
“I’m fine,” you said, but your voice sounded far away, almost like it wasn’t yours.
The room seemed to tilt ever so slightly, and you reached out to steady yourself against the desk. The surface felt cool under your fingertips, grounding you just enough to stay upright.
“I don’t know,” he said, stepping closer, his tone a mockery of concern. “You look a little pale.”
Your head turned toward him, but your movements were sluggish. His figure was close now—too close—and his smile, while soft, seemed sharper somehow, like it could cut you if you looked at it the wrong way.
“You’ve been so stressed lately,” he continued, his voice dripping with honeyed care. “All this running around, all this independence... It’s no wonder you’re not feeling well.”
“I just need to—” You stopped, the words slipping from your mind as quickly as they’d formed.
“Shh,” he murmured, reaching out to steady you, his hands gentle as they guided you back against the desk. “It’s okay. Let me take care of you.”
“I—” You tried to pull away, but your body wasn’t cooperating. Your legs felt like lead, your arms heavy and limp.
“There we go,” he whispered, his voice almost soothing as he adjusted his grip, cradling you like you might break. “Let’s get you back to where you belong.”
The words sank into you like cold water, and your heart pounded in your chest. “I don’t—”
But your voice was weak, and the edges of your vision darkened as your knees gave way.
He caught you, of course. He always did. His arms were steady, strong, and terrifyingly familiar as you seemed to melt into them.
“You’ll see,” he said softly, his lips brushing against your temple as the darkness closed in. “This is for the best. You’ll understand soon enough.”
The last thing you heard was the faint click of the lock turning.
When you woke up, it was in a bed you knew well—his bed. The familiar scent of expensive lavender laundry detergent and faint cologne clung to the sheets, grounding you in a way that made your head spin.
Your body felt heavy, but there was no immediate pain. Just a dull, aching tiredness, like you’d slept too long.
The soft shuffle of footsteps drew your attention, and he appeared in the doorway, carrying a tray of food. His face lit up when he saw you were awake.
“There you are,” he said, his voice warm and soothing. “I was starting to worry.”
You blinked at him, your mind foggy. “What… happened?”
“You fainted,” he explained, setting the tray down on the nightstand. “I knew you weren’t feeling well, but I didn’t think it was this bad. You’ve been pushing yourself too hard.”
“I need to go home,” you murmured, though the words felt weak, half-hearted.
He crouched beside the bed, his hand reaching out to brush the hair from your face. “You’re not going anywhere until you’re better,” he said softly, but there was an edge of finality in his tone. “I can’t let you hurt yourself like this.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but the sincerity in his eyes made the words catch in your throat. He wasn’t angry—far from it. He looked… concerned. Genuinely so.
“I made another one of your favorites,” he said, gesturing to the tray. “You need to eat something. Please.”
And somehow, you did.
The first week passed in a haze. He was always there, tending to you with quiet patience and a gentle touch. He cooked your meals, brought you tea, even read to you when you were too tired to focus on your own.
When you’d ask to leave, he’d smile, tilting his head like you’d just said something silly. “Why would you want to leave when you’re safe here?” he’d ask, his tone light, affectionate. “This is your home.”
At first, you resisted. You’d test the locks when he wasn’t looking, search for your phone, try to reason with him. But each time, he’d find you.
And each time, he’d reassure you.
“I know this is hard,” he’d say, holding you close as you fought back tears. “But I promise, I’m doing this because I love you. Because I can’t bear to see you hurt yourself.”
The way he said it—so tenderly, so earnestly—made it harder to argue.
Months passed.
Your protests grew quieter, your attempts to leave less frequent. He never raised his voice, never hurt you. Instead, he smothered you in kindness, his care so unwavering it became impossible to distinguish from love.
He brought you little gifts—books he thought you’d like, your favorite snacks, new clothes in your size. He’d sit with you for hours, talking about everything and nothing, his laughter warm and infectious.
And slowly, bit by bit, you began to feel it: the comfort of his presence, the safety of his arms.
You still thought about leaving sometimes. But every time you’d imagine the cold, lonely world outside, his face would appear in your mind, smiling, reassuring.
“I take care of you,” he’d remind you. “No one else will.”
And part of you started to believe him.
A year later, the apartment felt less like a prison and more like a sanctuary. Or at least, that’s what you told yourself.
You’d stopped counting the days a long time ago. The routine he built for you was too carefully crafted, too comforting in its predictability. Meals prepared before you asked, your favorite books always within reach, even the temperature of the room adjusted to perfection. He knew what you needed before you did.
But tonight, something felt different.
He sat beside you on the couch, his arm wrapped around your shoulders as always, his fingers idly tracing circles on your arm. The television played softly in the background, though neither of you were paying attention.
“You’ve been quiet today,” he said, his tone light, almost teasing. But there was an edge beneath it, subtle but sharp, like a blade hidden beneath silk.
You hesitated, the words catching in your throat. “I’m fine,” you replied, offering a small smile. “Just… thinking.”
He tilted his head, his gaze soft but probing. “Thinking about what?”
“Nothing important,” you said quickly, looking away.
His hand stilled against your arm.
“I hope you’re not thinking about leaving me,” he said, his voice so soft it made your skin crawl.
You froze, your heart skipping a beat. “I’m not,” you said, too quickly.
He smiled then, that same warm, reassuring smile that had once made you feel safe. But now, it felt like a mask. “Good,” he said, leaning in to press a kiss to your forehead. “Because you know what happens when you try.”
Your stomach twisted, memories flashing through your mind.
The first time you’d tried to escape, you’d woken up hours later, your body weak and trembling, with him at your bedside, his expression one of heartbreak. “You scared me,” he’d said, brushing a hand through your hair. “I can’t lose you. Don’t ever do that again.”
The second time, he hadn’t been so kind. His voice had been cold, his eyes devoid of warmth as he’d pinned you against the wall, his hand gripping your wrist just hard enough to bruise. “I love you,” he’d whispered, his breath hot against your ear. “But if you try to leave me again, I’ll have to show you how much.”
You hadn’t tried since.
Now, as you sat beside him, the weight of his arm around you felt suffocating. You nodded mutely, your hands curling into fists in your lap.
“I’m glad we understand each other,” he said, his voice bright again, as though nothing had happened.
He reached for the remote, turning off the television, and stood. “Come on,” he said, holding out a hand to you. “Let’s go to bed.”
You hesitated for only a moment before placing your hand in his. His grip was firm, steady, like an anchor pulling you under.
As he led you to the bedroom, his fingers intertwined with yours, you caught a glimpse of your reflection in the hallway mirror.
The person staring back at you was a stranger—someone small, broken, and unrecognizable.
But it didn’t matter. Not anymore.
Because as he closed the bedroom door behind you, the lock clicking into place, you knew one thing for certain:
You weren’t going anywhere.
And neither was he.

Lets talk about the not so pleasant parts of Autism
This post is not to say that aren't good things about being autistic or that every autistic will have my experience. Let's just not forget that this is a disability that needs to be taken seriously no matter the person. Any autistic person is welcome to add on the the list.
I'll start with my struggles:
Violent meltdowns
Public meltdowns
VERY poor hygiene the the point of needing teeth removed and hair loss
Constant loneliness and felling depressed from it
Co-occuring conditions like personality disorders, ptsd, depression, psychosis, etc
Mourning the childhood and friends you never had
Blatant bullying
Feeling like you will never make your family proud
Rejected by family, society, medical system, literally everyone
Being taken advantage of (including SA)
Constantly putting yourself in danger
EDs and malnourishment from dietary habits
Knowing that others are purposely leaving you out
Being called homeless and other names for stimming and wearing comfy attire
Sensory issues make you feel like your skin wants to remove itself
Sensory issues making you miss important or fun events
Knowing that you may never be independent
Being belittled
Self injurious stims and low self esteem from it
Embarrassment 101
No privacy
Constant painful state of confusion
Being mocked for how you communicate
Fear of being judged for alternative forms of communication
Needing assistance to just maintain a healthy shower schedule
Having to follow very specific routines to the point of possibly putting yourself in danger if you don't follow them
...and these are just some things. This is the not so pleasant part of what I go through on a daily basis as an autistic. This list can go on forever because autism comes in many "shapes and sizes". Any autistics of any level, if you want, please add on to this list to show that autistic isn't a quirk and can have some seriously hard to live with sides.

Proper Supervision
You never should trust a little unsupervised. Who knows what sort of trouble they'll get up to or what rules their break if they aren't properly watched or restrained? Nothing is worse than coming out of your bedroom to find your little one trying to sneak into the bathroom to use the potty for their stinkies rather than their diaper.
More importantly, constant supervision is an essential part of reminding your little that they are not and will never be an independent adult again. It's impossible to think of yourself as a person big and responsible enough to care for yourself when your caregiver doesn't trust you enough to leave you alone for a minute.
But, constant in-person, supervision by a single caregiver is impossible. Caregivers have adult responsibilities that littles will never understand such as work, social lives, and using the potty. So, that begs the question, how do we, as caregivers, fill that gap?
Babysitters
When you can't watch your little yourself, calling in back up is a tried and true solution. But, who do you call? The options are endless.
For instance, when in a pinch, you can always call in your little one's biological Mommy or Daddy. Who knows better (besides yourself, of course) how to wipe your little's stinky bottom than the people who have been doing it from the beginning?
But, Mommy 1.0, isn't always an option, so, who else can you turn to? Friends are always another great source of support. Do you have a best friend who you know your little diapered buddy has been nursing a cute little crush on for years? Make sure it's never acted on by calling that friend over to babysit while you're out on a date with a REAL adult.
But, you don't just have to rely on your own friends. Your little one's adult friends can be a great resource too! Nothing will eliminate the possibility of your little feeling like an adult again than their best friends, their only hope of escape, laughing at them as they squat down and load their pants with yet another stinky, brown load.
The options don't stop there! Does your little brat need taken down a peg? Were they prideful and mean prior to being forced to accept their rightful place as your adorable little bean? You can always find a babysitter who reminds them of just how far they've fallen.
Do you remember that attractive co-ed neighbor that your little used to babysit (and maybe torture) in their old life? They're an adult now. Nothing will put your little one back in their place quite like having their diapers changed by someone they used to care for themselves! And, if your neighbor decides to take out some well-deserved revenge, all the better.
But, none of these options hold a candle to my personal favorite choice for a temporary caregiver: a middle. A middle is one of those poor 'adults' who by choice or their own poor behavior who will forever be treated as nothing more than a moody little middle schooler by their partner.
Middles make great babysitters for a number of reasons. First, they don't let littles get away with anything. Whether it is a malevolent streak caused by the feeling of superiority they get from having a charge of their own or the desire to prove how 'big' and 'responsible' they really are in order to regain some semblance of adulthood, middles do a great job at keeping littles in line.
Second, and more importantly, using middles as babysitters also keeps the middles in line. There is nothing quite like the look of fear on a middle's face as they look at a little and learn that, but for a few different choices, they too could be crawling around in a messy diaper like the former adult in front of them. Plus, if things go wrong (or right, depending on your perspective), in a few short months, the middle you hired as a babysitter may be a little that you are arranging a playdate with.
Baby Monitors
Hiring a babysitter is not always a reasonable solution for when you just can't be physically present with your little one. Either the time frame you're out of the room is too short (sometimes you just need to take an uninterrupted trip to the bathroom) or you can't find help in time. That's where technology has kindly stepped in to allow for 24/7 supervision, even when there isn't a real 'adult' immediately around.
Getting the right baby monitor is essential to proper supervision. Of course, there are the classic models that only convey noise. They are cheap, but not very effective. Especially bratty and willful littles can easily overcome the modicum of surveillance that they provide. What is truly essential for proper supervision of your little one is a monitor that transmits both video and audio recordings. With that level of technological sophistication, you will always know precisely whether your little one is obeying all of your rules or trying to take advantage of your absence.
I would suggest a few features in addition to standard audio and visual surveillance, however. First, I would suggest that any baby monitor have the ability for the caregiver to remotely talk to their adorable, little pamper packer. Nothing will stop a naughty little brat in their steps like the disembodied voice of a caregiver calling them out for their bad behavior.
An even more important feature is the ability for the monitor to record and save what it monitors. Sure, being able to immediately check on your little one and make sure they are obeying your rules at that moment is good. What's better is the ability to go back and make sure that your little was following their rules during the entirety of their 'independent' time.
More fun, the ability to record, save, and replay segments of what your choice of baby monitor sees is a great tool to remind your diapered charge how little and pathetic they really are. Is your little one complaining about how they don't need diapers? Replay a compilation of clips showing them making stinkies in their padded pants. Are they telling you that they don't like being treated like a baby? Replay the last time that they made tried to make secret cummies humping their favorite stuffie. With the proper baby monitoring system, you can constantly re-enforce their status with audio and visual evidence.
For bonus points, create a 'best of' video of your little's most embarrassing moments. Replaying the video can serve as both an excellent punishment, as well as the perfect show to watch while cuddling with your little one just before bedtime.
Restraints
For particularly bull-headed littles, a baby monitor is just not going to be enough to keep them behaving when their caregiver isn't around. In that situation, there is always the old reliable method to maintain proper behavior: physical restraints.
When the fear of being caught just won't work, your supervision may need to come in the form of restraints. How much you lock down your little really depends on their behavior.
Does your little refuse to agree that they need diapers and refuse to wear them? A locking diaper cover and locks on the bathroom door may be enough to gain compliance.
Does your little pamper packer like being a baby a little too much? That same locking diaper cover supplemented by extra padding and locking mittens may be needed to keep your little one acting like the perfect little angel you know they can be.
Is your little just a naughty little brat who tries to get into trouble in any way possible? Being tied to a crib or locked into a crate may be the only option for you.
Proper supervision is an important part of the caregiver/little dynamic. Consider all of your options and use the ones that are best for you, so you can really see your little truly accept who they are!

I’ve read a few takes which view Izzy through a Marxist lens and paint him as a working class* hero. The premise being that this proletarian warrior is unfairly usurped in the affections of Ed by some upper class, monied, artsy type; and to not root for the grassroots character makes you somehow a bourgeois prick.
Izzy is never in Ed’s affections romantically. Ever. So the premise falls at the first hurdle.
But for the sake of argument…
If you’re truly going to view the show as a Marxist allegory, in which an individual overcomes horrendous class obstacles, then that character is Ed Teach.
Ed rises from extreme poverty to become the most successful and infamous pirate in history. It’s a rags-to-riches story.
The takes I’ve read on this completely ignore the fact that Ed is also ‘working class’. And the only conclusion I can reach is that Ed is ‘the wrong kind of working class’. Because what these interpretations do is separate the idea of the working classes into a ‘deserving’, romanticised, white, ‘salt-of-the-earth’ type, and non-deserving groups not worthy of recognition, usually representing people of colour.
And so we’re back to race. The Marxist lens as I’ve seen it applied here defines the white working class man as having had his toy stolen by the white bourgeois man. Ed is a just an object. And when Ed’s handed back rightfully to Izzy by the British Crown as payment, he is literally chattel returned to the correct owner.
A large part of the show is Ed’s fightback against an ownership narrative in order to claim his identity for himself. That to be with Stede is his choice; and Stede’s initial obliviousness is an extremely important part of that narrative. The agency has to lie with Ed first, and the writers clearly understand this. Else we might be setting up a power struggle over ‘who owns the brown man’.
Stede never lays claim to Ed because there is no claim to lay. He instinctively and intuitively falls into a reciprocal friendship with Ed, which eventually grows into an equal love and natural affection. Stede always sees Ed’s personhood. And it’s really important that Stede views Ed, at the very least, as an equal in terms of human worth. Societally they are not equal due to white patriarchy; however, Stede’s giving up of his wealth, his bourgeois status, is another step towards a truer equality between the two.
Meanwhile, Izzy views Ed as a valuable asset to be utilised for a certain masculine glory and riches. Izzy might not be bourgeois, but his worldview is certainly bent that way. He will willingly and violently take possession of another human being as an interpretation of owning the means of production - that isn’t exactly proletarian. It’s participatory enslavement and a bourgeois act.
We know nothing of Izzy’s past. We can presume he’s from a working class background because Occam’s razor would suggest as much. But we are never explicitly shown Izzy’s class in the way we are Ed’s, because Izzy’s class isn’t overly important to the story unless it serves the narrative of Ed and Stede. It has no independent meaning. He’s an antagonist. And let’s face it: he cosies up to Chauncey and the British establishment pretty easily when it suits him.
If you must apply a Marxist lens to this story, your working class hero is Ed. And if not, why not?
*I’m using ‘working class’ as a Marxist term. I realise in 1717, it was not widely used
Tumblr media
Ed Teach, finally co-owning property and a potential business. It’s not a fairytale ending entirely, but it is an important practical ending to a lifelong journey from nothing. And Ed might never have to go hungry again.

Had a dream last night that djenks and co had made s3 in secret independently somehow and then released it to us as a surprise. Anyway. All I remember from it was that Stede was wearing sluttier versions of his s1 outfits and he whacked a guy on the back of the head (Ă  la badminton) to protect Ed.

Personality Traits: As an INTJ, often referred to as ‘The Architect’, Luna embodies a unique blend of intelligence, strategic thinking, and an independent spirit. Her personality reflects a deep understanding of the world around her, often viewing situations through a logical and analytical lens. This makes her an exceptional problem-solver, able to assess challenges and devise effective solutions with ease.
Growing up in Kensington, London, Luna was immersed in a world of creativity and intellect. As an only child of a retired ballerina and an anthropologist, she was exposed to the arts and sciences from a young age. Her mother encouraged her to pursue ballet, starting lessons at the age of three. This early training not only honed her physical abilities but also instilled in her a sense of discipline and dedication. However, Luna often felt the pressure to excel, which led to her developing a strong work ethic and perfectionist tendencies.
Despite her outward confidence, Luna struggled with feelings of isolation. Her intimidating features and talent sometimes made it hard for her to connect with her peers, leading her to seek solace in books, art, and music. These experiences nurtured her introspective side, allowing her to develop a rich inner world filled with creativity and imagination.
During her training period, Luna’s INTJ traits truly shone. Her analytical mind enabled her to quickly grasp complex choreography and vocal techniques, allowing her to excel in evaluations. She was often dubbed the ‘Ace’ among her fellow trainees for her versatility and ability to adapt to various tasks effortlessly. However, this did not come without challenges; she faced moments of great pressure to live up to the title and of self-doubt, particularly in a competitive environment where she felt the weight of expectations.
Luna’s leadership qualities emerged during her training, as she often took the initiative to help fellow trainees improve. Her strategic mindset allowed her to navigate the often chaotic training schedule, and she quickly learned to manipulate situations to her advantage, especially during group activities or evaluations. While she maintained a somewhat aloof demeanor, her ability to connect with her peers through shared interests— such as crafts with Joshua or dance challenges with Hoshi— showed her capacity for forming meaningful relationships.
Now as a world known idol, Luna’s INTJ personality manifests in her strong presence and charisma on stage. She is known for her meticulous approach to performances, carefully analyzing each aspect of her shows to ensure they are executed flawlessly. Her strategic thinking allows her to anticipate audience reactions, making her a master at captivating crowds.
Luna’s intelligence also extends to her interactions with fans and the media. She navigates interviews and public appearances with ease, often using her wit and charm to leave a lasting impression. However, she remains somewhat guarded, finding it challenging to open up fully about her feelings, particularly in the context of her somewhat complicated relationship with Jeonghan.
While she is often seen as intimidating due to her ‘resting bitch face’, those who take the time to know her discover her warmth and loyalty. She is protective of her fellow members, particularly the youngest ones, and values the deep connections she has formed within the group. Luna’s ability to balance her independent spirit with her caring nature makes her a unique and multi-faceted character in the K-Pop industry.
Positive Traits: Independent, disciplined, versatile, charismatic, protective, strategic, analytical, ambitious, intelligent, loyal
Negative Traits: Perfectionist, aloof, stubborn, overly critical, reserved
╰ ౨ৎ HISTORY
1997-2011: Luna was born in Kensington, London, into a well-off family that nurtured her artistic inclinations. Her mother, a retired ballerina, introduced her to the world of dance, leading Luna to begin ballet training at the tender age of three. This early exposure fostered her love for performing arts and instilled a strong work ethic in her. Academically gifted, she attended Southbank International School Kensington, where she excelled in her studies and developed a deep passion for music. Despite her wonderful childhood, Luna often felt isolated due to her personality, seeking solace in her artistic pursuits and immersing herself in the creativity that surrounded her.
2011-2012: At the age of fourteen, Luna made the pivotal decision to move back to Seoul, South Korea, to pursue her dream of becoming an idol. This transition marked a significant change in her life, as she entered the competitive world of K-Pop. She initially trained at YG Entertainment for a year, where she faced the rigors of idol training and learned to adapt to the intense environment. Throughout this time, she was constantly approached by PLEDIS Entertainment, a smaller company that offered her a chance to further her dreams. After much consideration, Luna trusted her instincts and made the bold decision to switch companies, believing it would ultimately lead her closer to her goals. She has mentioned in an interview that her leaving a huge and well known company for a smaller one was one of the riskiest thing she has ever done and yet she does not regret it.
2013-2015: Luna trained for another two years at PLEDIS Entertainment, honing her skills as a lead vocalist in preparation for her debut. During this time, she faced various challenges, including rigorous practice schedules and the pressure to excel among her peers. However, her determination and talent shone through, allowing her to form strong bonds with the other trainees. She was supposed to either debut in a girl group or as a solo artist, however, in 2015, Luna finally achieved her dream of debuting as a member of the co-ed band SEVENTEEN, alongside thirteen talented male members. This milestone marked the beginning of her journey in the spotlight, showcasing her versatility and dedication as an artist.
2015-Present: Since her debut, Luna's life as an idol has been a rollercoaster ride filled with both challenges and triumphs. She has navigated the ups and downs of the entertainment industry, facing public scrutiny and the pressures of fame. Despite these obstacles, the joy of being with her fellow members, whom she considers family, has been a constant source of strength. Together, they have achieved remarkable success, creating unforgettable memories and sharing their passion for music with fans worldwide. Luna's perseverance and commitment to her craft continue to drive her as she embraces the journey of an idol, always striving to achieve her goals and dreams.

I honestly believe the gods want you to be independent. They do not want you calling on Them five times a day. They are not constantly hanging over our shoulder, telling us "make the bed, eat healthy, don't skip breakfast, work out, try harder on that math question, take the water instead of soda, do your homework right after school, shower, brush your teeth, go to sleep on time, etc"
We should be able to manage ourselves. They are there to support us, and They might help in certain areas, like if you have an ED then yes maybe They do push a little harder for you to eat healthily, but for the most part no. They are gods, not our parents.
If you rely on Them too much throughout the day, if you keep calling on Them out of loneliness and needing someone to tell you to make the right decision, you've got
✨ A co-dependent relationship ✨
Which means if that deity leaves, takes a break, or if your connection is severed for some reason, you will completely break down. That is not sustainable. That is not healthy.
And no god wants that for Their worshiper.

THE MOST HOSTILE TAKEOVER IN KPOP: MYDOL vs. ACIDIC RECORDS.
How Acidic Records Went From A Promising Company To Losing Everything.
In the bright and fast-moving world of KPOP, creativity seems to be hard to find nowadays. It's all about who can push out an album the fastest and hop on the trend until it's dead in a ditch. Acidic Records set out to change that.
Debuting a co-ed group in Kpop is a risky business most of the time. There's only been one somewhat successful co-ed group in the last ten years, and even then, their success is based on their international fandom as opposed to their domestic fanbase. Florian Sanico set out to change that with the debut of his first K-pop group in 2019: BRATPACK.
BRATPACK had tough competition debuting in 2019, competing amongst the ranks of Angelico juggernauts like L.O.L and SNS. Still, despite the odds against them, the public flocked to them, giving them one of the most successful debuts of the year with their unapologetically bold concept and sound.
Their successful debut year would unknowingly put a target on their back. A target in the shape of an Angel.
Angelico Entertainment was founded in 2010 by Son Jinhwa and Jeon Jihan, two former idols turned CEOs. Their promise was to make the industry a better place for idols and to focus on artistry. Barely five years into the company's establishment, this promise would prove to be a hollow scam, as most of the duo's endeavors ended up being.
Son and Jeon would establish The MyDol Label, also known as MyDol Entertainment, in 2020 with the massive success of both Venus and DeepDive. They needed to expand, and they did. MyDol would acquire three separate labels within 2020 alone: Dark Garden Company, Flowerbank Entertainment, and ITZCORP.
By 2024, Dark Garden Company and Flowerbank Entertainment would shut their doors, and ITZCORP filed for bankruptcy.
2020 would also be the year MyDol and Acidic Records would begin a partnership, often collaborating between groups and letting BRATPACK use MyDol studios and practice rooms. By early 2021, MyDol became the majority shareholder of Acidic Records. The label would retain its independence; however, its artists would now receive more significant financial support and global promotions. The Fair Trade Commission (hereinafter KFTC) approved the acquisition in February.
However, it quickly became evident that the promise of independence was a thinly veiled sham to acquire Acidic Records and its only group: BRAT PACK.
After the acquisition of Acidic Records, Son Jinhwa proposed a "restructuring" of the label, to which Sanico agreed, though Almanda Summers, the once anonymous creative director of BRATPACK and former COO of Acidic Records, was hesitant. She requested formal plans for what the restructuring would entail, but Son and Jeon denied these requests, saying the plan would help BRATPACK and MyDol.
The restructuring was approved, and BRATPACK was disbanded three months later.
This decision would shock fans, members, and the staff of Acidic Records, who were now suddenly out of the job.
Summers would be the first to take a stand against MyDol. She filed a formal complaint against the company, claiming they lied to both her and Sanico when becoming shareholders. Due to this formal injunction, Almanda, whose legal name is Amy Foley, would have to relinquish her anonymity, which she claimed MyDol also used against her. She claimed Son and Jeon would actively try to push her out of the label with bullying tactics and blocking every idea she presented to them. Foley also claimed Jeon attempted to pressure her into selling her shares to him multiple times.
A week later, Sanico followed in her footsteps, filing a formal injunction to separate Acidic Records from the MyDol label and for MyDol to release its shares in the company.
This legal battle would last several months, with both parties airing out each other's dirty laundry, such as chart manipulation, inflated album sales, sabotaging their competition, and mistreatment of their idols. The members of BRATPACK who remained loyal to Summers and Acidic Jiu, Chance, and Doe would take the stand against MyDol with moving testimonies on how their careers were sabotaged and the bullying they faced under the label.
The other three members of BRATPACK, Hajin, Sora, and Bridgette, would officially sign with Angelico just two weeks after the group's disbandment. Hajin would happily debut in L.O.L alongside two other members, while Sora and Bridgette would debut in Lunarix, a new Angelico girl group that would debut the following year. They were deemed traitors by BRATPACK fans and by Foley herself.
The way Foley conducted herself throughout this trial is a point of contention as many fans believe she didn't help the group's case with her dramatic interjections, reactions, or social media posts during this time. It's important to note that Foley was only 25 at the time of the trial, significantly younger than all the men around her. This fact, however, did not sway the millions of people watching, who would criticize Foley and Sanico for being "ungrateful" and "unprofessional" during the trial.
Despite the mounting evidence of mispractice, the public sided with MyDol, and so did the courts. They found Sanico and Foley's cases to be "personal" and that "no laws were broken" as they willingly signed an agreement with MyDol.
A month after the trial concluded, Amy Foley relinquished her shares and stepped down as COO of Acidic Records, giving both to Jeon Jihan. He would later appoint Jennifer Jeon, his wife, as COO. Foley has not been seen publicly since but remains active on social media.
Fabian Sanico still remains CEO, but it's unclear how much power he actually has over his own label.
In 2023, it was announced that BRATPACK would resurface from disbandment. The original three members, Jiu, Chance, and Doe, would regain their positions in the group, along with three new members, Daeseo, Jules, and Yuju.
Though their comeback was highly anticipated and successful, a dark cloud will always surround the group regardless of their successes.

To someone who doesn't live in the UK and has only a very basic understanding of the different parties involved, pray could you provide a very brief rub-down of the election situation? Also a side question, where exactly did Rishi Sunak and the Tories in general fuck up? I've been getting a lot of British politics posts on my dash and I was curious. You seem like a reliable fellow to ask :)
Btw you really don't have to answer this ask if you don't want to or if it's too much work. In that case, could you point me in the right direction for some online resources I can refer to? Thank ye very much, cheers!
for context, I recieved this ask the day after the election, and somehow managed to miss it for 3 weeks. oops.
if you don't know how British elections work, here are three youtube videos from Jay Foreman which I recommend: how elections work, how elections don't work, and the bit that isn't elected at all
very long post under the cut...
the british political parties
like the US, the UK is a two-party state. unlike the US, the UK has more than two relevant political parties. here they are, in order of seats won this year:
Labour Party (411 (63.2%) seats, with 33.7% of votes)
won this year's General Election.
led by kid starver, queer harmer Keir Starmer, namesake of this blog.
was the Big Left-Wing Party. has recently become the Big Party which Doesn't Stand for Anything, Really, Except for Winning Elections and Hurting Transgender People, due to Starmer's leadership.
oddly patriotic. wants to establish "Great British Railways" and "Great British Energy". Nobody really knows yet what they mean by this.
former leader Ed Miliband is the man in my pfp, pictured failing to eat a bacon sandwich. Some speculate that this photo was the reason he lost the election in 2015.
Conservative "Tory" Party (121 (18.6%) seats, with 23.7% of votes)
tonight's Big Loser.
led by fishy, dishy Rishi Sunak, but not for long, because they're electing a new leader on Halloween.
was the Big Right-Wing Party. is still the Big Right-Wing Party, but is now also an Embarrassment.
they were in power for 14 years until this election.
Directly responsible for this country's decline over the past... 14 years.
their colour is more of a dark blue, but Tumblr doesn't let me do that.
Liberal Democrat Party (72 (11.1%) seats, with 12.2% of votes)
returned to its rightful place as the Third Party.
led by Sir Ed Davey, who spent the election campaign bungee jumping, playing Jenga, and paddleboarding.
is the Centrist Party that Nobody Really Cares About.
somehow is more left-wing than Labour.
Scottish National Party (SNP) (9 (1.4%) seats, with 2.5% of votes)
tonight's Medium-Sized Loser.
led by John Swinney, who was also their leader like 20 years ago.
unsurprisingly, is the Scottish Independence Party. is also more left-wing than Labour.
their colour is yellow, but Tumblr doesn't let me do that.
Reform UK Ltd. (5 (0.8)% seats, with 14.3% of votes)
Fascist Cunts.
led by Nigel Farage.
not actually a political party, for some reason.
enough said. (for now)
Green Party (4 (0.6%) seats, with 6.7% of votes)
the one I voted for.
co-led by Carla Denyer and Adrian Ramsey.
the Actually Left-Wing Party. Their slogan is "real hope, real change" which sums it up.
Plaid Cymru (4 (0.6%) seats, with 0.7% of votes)
the SNP, but Welsh. (it's pronounced "Plad Cumry")
led by Rhun ap Iorweth. (pronounced "Rune app You're weth")
their colour is dark green, but Tumblr doesn't let me do that.
None of these parties run for election in Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, but not part of Great Britain. NI is an entirely different situation which I don't know about.
so what actually Happened? Now that the scene is set, I'll go through the events that transpired, from the conservative landslide in 2019 to the conservative demise in 2024.
2019
the Conservatives don't have enough MPs who want to vote for their Brexit plan, so they call a snap general election. in the UK, our elections aren't at regular intervals. ONLY the Prime Minister decides when they happen, within a 5 year limit. this is important later...!
they win a massive landslide victory, with Boris Johnson as their PM. the SNP wins 48 out of 59 seats in Scotland.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn (affectionately known as Jezza) resigns, as does LibDem leader Jo Swinson.
2020
Keir Starmer takes over as Labour leader, and is immediately very boring. Labour gets more unpopular.
Jezza is kicked out of the Labour party, as are many of his supporters, on false allegations of antisemitism.
Boris finally "gets Brexit done" (this was his slogan.) The Tories get more popular. The Brexit Party changes its name to Reform UK, but they're still considered right-wing extremists
COVID happens. Everyone rallies round the flag. The Tories get more popular.
Boris gets COVID and nearly dies.
top conservative politicians hold parties in Downing Street, breaking their own lockdown rules, but shhhh! nobody knows about that yet! these keep happening until April 2021
The NHS begins to collapse a bit more than it already had, due to Conservative underfunding. The Tories get less popular.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak announces a program giving people discounts to eat out in restaurants. COVID cases spike. The Tories get less popular.
It's revealed that one of the top Tories, Dominic Cummings, broke lockdown rules by visiting family. The Tories get less popular.
End of year - Tories and Labour tied in the polls.
2021
the Queen's husband dies. She goes to his funeral, socially-distanced, alone. on the same day, more Downing Street parties are held.
not much else happens?? until December, when
people start to find out that the Tories were breaking their own rules by partying in Downing Street. Immediately, the Labour Party gains a 7% lead in the polls.
2022 - shit hits the fan
people are MAD about the lockdown parties. it's named Partygate and the police start to investigate.
Russia invades Ukraine. Boris tries to distract everyone by supporting Zelenskyy.
the police conclude their investigation. Boris Johnson becomes the first Prime Minister to have officially broken the law. as a firm punishment, he is fined.... ÂŁ50. (so are Rishi Sunak, and lots of others.)
Everything gets expensive. Many people are now choosing between eating and heating their home.
Just after this happens, it's revealed that Johnson also gave promotions to a Tory who he knew had committed sexual assault. His cabinet revolts. He is forced to resign as Conservative Party leader. But because he is Prime Minister, he's the only one who can call an election, and he simply chooses not to! because he knows he'd lose!
The new Prime Minister is chosen not by the people, but by the Conservative Party members. people hate this.
Liz Truss beats Rishi Sunak in the final contest. She becomes Prime Minister.
The Queen dies.
Liz Truss crashes the economy. All hell breaks loose. The Labour Party now have a 25% lead in the polls.
The Daily Star starts a YouTube livestream - will Liz Truss leave office before this lettuce expires?
Liz Truss loses control of her MPs. She, too, is forced to resign, just 40 days after becoming PM! Because she doesn't have to call an election, she doesn't.
The lettuce won.
ONCE AGAIN it is up to the Conservative Party leadership to choose a Prime Minister... except nobody wants to be Prime Minister. Rishi Sunak becomes Prime Minister without being elected by ANYBODY
2023
not much extra happens, for a while. people are just sick and tired of the Tories
They decide it's a good idea to try and deport asylum seekers to Rwanda, because immigration is "too high".
Nicola Sturgeon gets bored of being a politician and resigns as SNP leader. Without a clear successor, the SNP destroys itself finding a new leader.
Nicola Sturgeon is also arrested on suspicion of having funnelled money out of the SNP to herself before she resigned! (she's cleared of suspicion, but the public gain a conception of the SNP being corrupt.)
Shit happens in Gaza. The Tories back Israel. Labour, having shifted massively to the right, also back Israel. People become unhappy with both of them, and still are today.
2024
A general election has to happen this year. The Tories are still 20% behind in the polls.
It's announced that the UK entered a small recession at the end of 2023.
Four asylum seekers are sent to Rwanda. They spent ÂŁ700,000,000 on this.
Rishi constantly dodges questions about when the general election will be, simply saying it will come "in the second half" of the year. Most people think he means autumn.
He did not mean autumn. He calls an election for 4 July, but forgets to bring an umbrella in the process, and gets rained on.
Nigel Farage immediately takes control of Reform UK. (He's allowed to do that because it's technically a company, and as owner of said company he can do what he wants)
Reform UK surges in popularity, reaching 17% in the polls, just behind the Conservatives at 21%
Rishi leaves a D-day event halfway through to give an interview with a TV broadcaster, in which the multimillionaire claimed his childhood was hard because he didn't have Sky TV.
The Conservatives decide to cure their election woes by sending all 18-year-olds to National Service. (ie. military)
It's also revealed that many top Tories placed bets on the election being held on 4 July.
The Conservative Party loses voters to Labour on their left, and to Reform on their right.
election result analysis
where did it go wrong for the Tories? uh, everywhere.
where did it go right for Labour, though? depends who you ask...
voters decisively rejected the Conservatives, choosing either Reform, Labour, or LibDem instead.
however, they weren't enthusiastic about Labour instead. many Labour wins came about as a result of Reform splitting the right-wing vote in half.
polling suggests most people who voted Labour did so to remove the Tories from power.
Fewer people voted for Labour this year than in 2019, but they doubled their seats in Parliament. Our voting system is fucked.
The Green Party quadrupled its seat share. They have won in every seat they have targeted.
Five leftist independent MPs beat Labour in what were "safe" constituencies. One of them was Jeremy Corbyn!! What this shows is that people don't really like Labour, or that people really don't like Labour. They want something better.
The SNP is nearly wiped out in Scotland, despite getting 30% of the Scottish vote. Labour wins most seats in Scotland with 35% of the Scottish vote.
The "Party of Women" (which is literally just TERFs) got fewer votes than the Monster Raving Loony Party. Lmao.
19 people voted for Elmo in Keir Starmer's constituency.
More people voted for the Conservatives and Reform UK combined than they did for Labour. If Labour doesn't get its shit together, we could be in trouble.
what's happened since the election?
7 Labour MPs have already been kicked out of the party for voting to adopt measures to lift 1.6 million children out of poverty
pressure from Greens and independents led to Labour accepting the ICC's arrest warrant for Netanyahu and stopping some arms sales to Israel's genocide.
what happens next?
the Tories choose a new leader on Halloween. other than that? fuck knows lmao. what the 2019-2024 parliament tells us is that anything can happen. as mentioned before, we don't even know when the next election is.
where exactly did Rishi Sunak and the Tories in general fuck up?
Tumblr media
you tell me
i also realise just now, after typing all that out, that you asked for a "very brief rub-down" of what happened............. yeah my bad

"Just weeks before the implosion of AllHere, an education technology company that had been showered with cash from venture capitalists and featured in glowing profiles by the business press, America’s second-largest school district was warned about problems with AllHere’s product.
As the eight-year-old startup rolled out Los Angeles Unified School District’s flashy new AI-driven chatbot — an animated sun named “Ed” that AllHere was hired to build for $6 million — a former company executive was sending emails to the district and others that Ed’s workings violated bedrock student data privacy principles.
Those emails were sent shortly before The 74 first reported last week that AllHere, with $12 million in investor capital, was in serious straits. A June 14 statement on the company’s website revealed a majority of its employees had been furloughed due to its “current financial position.” Company founder and CEO Joanna Smith-Griffin, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles district said, was no longer on the job.
Smith-Griffin and L.A. Superintendent Alberto Carvalho went on the road together this spring to unveil Ed at a series of high-profile ed tech conferences, with the schools chief dubbing it the nation’s first “personal assistant” for students and leaning hard into LAUSD’s place in the K-12 AI vanguard. He called Ed’s ability to know students “unprecedented in American public education” at the ASU+GSV conference in April.
Through an algorithm that analyzes troves of student information from multiple sources, the chatbot was designed to offer tailored responses to questions like “what grade does my child have in math?” The tool relies on vast amounts of students’ data, including their academic performance and special education accommodations, to function.
Meanwhile, Chris Whiteley, a former senior director of software engineering at AllHere who was laid off in April, had become a whistleblower. He told district officials, its independent inspector general’s office and state education officials that the tool processed student records in ways that likely ran afoul of L.A. Unified’s own data privacy rules and put sensitive information at risk of getting hacked. None of the agencies ever responded, Whiteley told The 74.
...
In order to provide individualized prompts on details like student attendance and demographics, the tool connects to several data sources, according to the contract, including Welligent, an online tool used to track students’ special education services. The document notes that Ed also interfaces with the Whole Child Integrated Data stored on Snowflake, a cloud storage company. Launched in 2019, the Whole Child platform serves as a central repository for LAUSD student data designed to streamline data analysis to help educators monitor students’ progress and personalize instruction.
Whiteley told officials the app included students’ personally identifiable information in all chatbot prompts, even in those where the data weren’t relevant. Prompts containing students’ personal information were also shared with other third-party companies unnecessarily, Whiteley alleges, and were processed on offshore servers. Seven out of eight Ed chatbot requests, he said, are sent to places like Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Australia and Canada.
Taken together, he argued the company’s practices ran afoul of data minimization principles, a standard cybersecurity practice that maintains that apps should collect and process the least amount of personal information necessary to accomplish a specific task. Playing fast and loose with the data, he said, unnecessarily exposed students’ information to potential cyberattacks and data breaches and, in cases where the data were processed overseas, could subject it to foreign governments’ data access and surveillance rules.
Chatbot source code that Whiteley shared with The 74 outlines how prompts are processed on foreign servers by a Microsoft AI service that integrates with ChatGPT. The LAUSD chatbot is directed to serve as a “friendly, concise customer support agent” that replies “using simple language a third grader could understand.” When querying the simple prompt “Hello,” the chatbot provided the student’s grades, progress toward graduation and other personal information.
AllHere’s critical flaw, Whiteley said, is that senior executives “didn’t understand how to protect data.”
...
Earlier in the month, a second threat actor known as Satanic Cloud claimed it had access to tens of thousands of L.A. students’ sensitive information and had posted it for sale on Breach Forums for $1,000. In 2022, the district was victim to a massive ransomware attack that exposed reams of sensitive data, including thousands of students’ psychological evaluations, to the dark web.
With AllHere’s fate uncertain, Whiteley blasted the company’s leadership and protocols.
“Personally identifiable information should be considered acid in a company and you should only touch it if you have to because acid is dangerous,” he told The 74. “The errors that were made were so egregious around PII, you should not be in education if you don’t think PII is acid.”

✼⠀⠀.⠀⠀⠀،،⠀SO S!CK⠀┉⠀is a fictional co-ed band formed in new england by its members as an independent act in january 2011. consisting of COREY, DEVIN, KIAN, and BILLIE, the band began playing college bars across the region while simultaneously posting song covers to youtube.
the early beginnings of attention placed on the band were first drawn from their respective universities. with corey and devin both attending yale university, they quickly became established as a popular college band, appearing across new haven before eventually being invited to perform at bars associated with other ivy league schools in the area. with kian joining the band's older members at yale and billie beginning to attended columbia university, their popularity would skyrocket, eventually allowing them to notoriety necessary to rent out a small studio for the formal recording of their first original body of work.
securing their manager, DENVER OWENS, would prove to be instrumental in so sick's rise in national prominence before the band would sign an exclusive recording contract just five years after forming.
though active in both the asian and western markets, the band has notably struggled to grasp commercial attention in south korea. despite this, members corey and kian frequently appear in korean programming due to their status as members of the highly influential kim family. similarly, billie, has become a rising star within vietnamese media, even securing a spot as a judge on vietnam idol in 2023.

CORNELIUS ALFRED KIM, better known by his stage name COREY KIM, was born the eldest son of business mogul charles kim and his wife, gemini inc. chairwoman, johanna yeun kim on july 27, 1993 in hamburg, germany. from a young age corey made it known that he was a square peg in a family of perfectly rounded circles. he was thoughtful to a fault, much too sensitive for the ruthless expertise necessary for the businesses he would inevitably lead in his fathers' stead.
a torublemaker at heart, corey's interest in the heavy rock records he collected on vinyl only initially served as a rejection of his impending responsibilities. convinced musical success could free him from his imagined shackles of affluence, corey was the one to first bring the band together in 2011. undeniably, corey continues to be the glue of so s!ck, often acting as the mediator between the ambitions of devin and the sober rationalities of kian.

born and raised the third of five daughters, CHRISTINA XIE has never been a stranger to inconsistencies. from her parents' secret divorce to the six cities she had called home before her 16th birthday, her family was never anchored anywhere long enough for devin to care much for anything.
from a young age, she was quite aware of her surroundings. aware of the tension between her parents, aware of her changing environments, but most importantly: aware of the pressure to succeed. the daughter of two celebrity lawyers, devin recognized very early on that she only ever truly fit in with the other misfit kids who stuck to the back rooms of the fancy galas she couldn't stand.
her family's move to new york city in devin's freshman year of high school brought not only new vices to get high off in the school bathrooms, but also a blossoming friendship with a dark haired boy with darker under eyes and an impressive vinyl collection to match. corey and devin's friendship slowly moved from listening to his grungy recordings of their favorite bands to crafting recordings of their own in euphoric stupors in the early mornings before classes.
though corey would never admit it, devin's slow source of joy in the music they'd made together would eventually lead him to assemble a band of their own the summer before their freshman year at yale. as so s!ck's lead guitarist, devin takes an active role in the composition of the band's music, drawing influence from bands like fleetwood mac, paramore, coldplay, and u2.

born the second son to charles and johanna kim on october 15, 1995, MARKUS KIM, usually referred to by his middle name, KIAN, often found himself happiest when he was on his own. the title, "corey kim's younger brother" never bothered him much considering the fact that his brother's peers would never be his own. if anything, in kian's mind, he often reversed the misconceptions people had founded about their family based on his older brother.
the overachieving, know-it-all of the family, kian never struggled with knowing what his place was within the family. frequently, he would even find himself picking up the responsibilities corey had left behind in favor of whatever it was he did in the early hours of the morning. he had his mind set on the future much earlier than most even decide what their favorite color was.
his initial interest in music was brushed off by his family who knew better than to believe he had found an interest other than the family business. but as he began to use music as a free release of negative energy, they all began encouraging him to pursue the industry in hopes of what opportunities it might present him. along the way somehow, corey managed to convince kian to join his band. although apprehensive at first, kian joined the band, figuring he would follow in corey's footsteps for once. currently, kian is the bassist of the group, often lending his talents to playing keyboard for the band as well.

WILHELMINA HUᝲNH was born to her parents on a quiet night in december. that quietness seemed to be a common theme throughout her young life. speaking very sparingly until the age of 5, billie always had an appreciation for stillness. it was often in the stillness that she was able to get away from the constant doting of her parents who were particularly protective over their youngest daughter.
early on, billie ventured into child modeling even being featured by major brands throughout elementary and middle school. although she loved getting all dressed up, it wasn't uncommon for billie to throw silent, pouty fits to her parents' dismay.
always a girl of very few words, her parents enlisted the help of a close friend to teach billie to play the piano. unknowingly, they ushered in a love for music within the young girl that would continue to determine her dreams for at least another decade.
becoming friends with kian kim and his older brother corey in her freshman year of high school proved to be the greatest decision billie ever made. particularly so when corey begged her to join his band after discovering her musical talent. continuing to be a girl of few words, billie is regarded as the most elusive member of the band and therefore, one of the more popular members.

League of Free Nations: Indigenous activists from Russia to fight for independence from Moscow

2022/05/24 - 00:00 • INTERNATIONAL, RUSSIA, RUSSIAN AGGRESSION
Article by: Christine Chraibi
Indigenous activists from Russia, representing six national movements, have announced the creation of the League of Free Nations– a political platform for the decolonization of indigenous peoples in the Russian Federation and the acquisition of each nation’s sovereignty.
With the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian war on 24 February, 2022, many Russian citizens of indigenous nations have been wittingly or unwittingly drawn into the ranks of the Russian army. However, most are there because they are trying to escape the horrible poverty they experience at home and see the military as the best or in many cases only way to improve their sorry lives.
Indigenous peoples have been under the Russian yoke for centuries
Back in April 2021, Sires Bolaen (Syres Boliayen), Inyazor (Chief Elder) of the Erzya people, addressed the 20thsession of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, drawing attention to the Kremlin’s policy of purposeful neglect and discrimination of indigenous people.

“Within the past 30 years, the Ezrya have been turned from a nation of a few million people into a small ethnic group on the brink of complete extinction.
Our neighbours in the Idel-Ural region – Mokshans, Udmurts, Maris, Chuvashs, Bashkirs and even Tatarsalso find themselves in a very similar position. Native peoples in Russia are forbidden to have their own political parties, or even to study their mother tongue in secondary schools. Only dancing in national costumes is tolerated. Those who stand up for their rights are persecuted as extremists and become victims of punitive psychiatry.”
The leader of the Erzya national movement is known not only for his anti-imperialist stance, but also for leading a group of Erzya volunteers fighting with the Ukrainian army. He is the co-founder of the Free Idel-Ural movement, which advocates the withdrawal of six Volga republics (Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Mordovia, Mary El and Udmurtia) from the Russian Federation and the creation of the Idel-Ural confederation.
In May 2022, Sires Bolaen once again addressed the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous People during its 21stsession. He publicly condemned and blamed Moscow for turning federal republics and indigenous communities in Russia into socially backward and under-developed regions where local young people seek to escape poverty by joining the Russian Armed Forces.
North Ossetia, Buryatia, Tuva, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chukotka and Idel-Ural are the regions with the highest number of dead soldiers per thousand population, he says.
Indigenous peoples gather in the League of Free Nations
In order to draw attention to the dire situation facing the indigenous people of Russia,Bashkir, Buryat, Ingush, Kalmyk, Erzya and Adyghe activistsdecided to set up a new organization – the League of Free Nations – and proceeded to issue a public announcement.
“These past few weeks, various media have been writing and talking more about the future of the Russian Federation after the Russian-Ukrainian war.
First of all, these discussions do not concern the organization of the federal subjects of the Russian Federation, but look more towards the paradigm ‘the future of the federal center is the future of Russia’.”reads the statement.
Vladimir Dovdanov, member of the Oirat-Kalmyk People’s Congressunderlines that his people have been experiencing colossal demographic catastrophes for centuries.
Tumblr media

“…This is due to the fact that we’ve always been treated as a colony ruled by a tsar. Later [during the Soviet period-Ed], the different general secretaries used the Kalmyksas disposable objects. Today, as a result of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, major global political changes are taking place, and this gives us the opportunity to become a subject state, and no longer be treated as an object. I see that many other peoples in the Russian Federation have the same desire.”
In their manifesto, the indigenous leaders proclaim the principle of “presumption of subjectivity/agency”, according to which the regions do not need to appeal to anyone to grant them sovereignty in the event of the collapse of the current political regime in the Russian Federation,.
All regions, by definition, can achieve and declare full sovereignty and full independence from Moscow. Then, acting as free territories, they can decide their own future: whether they want to remain independent, unite with other regions/republics, or create a confederation of states.
Sires Bolaen, Inyazor (Chief Elder) of the Erzya peopleassures that the League of Free Nations is open to new members and invites all those who share anti-imperialist views and recognize the right of peoples to self-determination to join the organization.

Activists of the Buryat national movement Dorjo Dugarov and Rajana Dugar-De Ponte, who co-founded the platform, believe that uniting different national movements around the struggle for freedom and political subjectivity will have a cumulative effect – in particular, open new opportunities for the members to convey their ideas on different international platforms.

Activist Ruslan Gabbasov from Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan, who fled Russia in December 2021 fearing for his safety and obtained political asylum in Lithuania, is a representative of the Bashkir national movement.
“I believe that all constituent subjects, as well as all indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation have the right to participate in the discussion on the future of Russian territories and to exercise their right to self-determination,”said Gabbasov .

The initiators of the League of Free Nations are as follows:
Vladimir Dovdanov, Batyr Bormongaev, Erenzen Doliaev(Kalmyks, Republic of Ralmykia)
Ruslan Gabbasov(Bashkir, Republic of Bashkortostan)
Sires Bolen and Vitaliy Romashkin(Erzyas, one of the peoples of the Republic of Mordovia)
Dorjo Dugarov, Rajana Dugar-De Ponte(Buryats, Republic of Buryatia)
Today, the members of the League of Free Nations call for the establishment of direct contacts with European, Turkish and Kazakh public organizations and political parties.

Editor’s Note
Background
According to its constitution, the Russian Federation is divided into 85 federal subjects, 22 of which are republics. Republics are administrative divisions originally created as nation states to represent areas of non-Russian ethnicity. The indigenous ethnic group that gives its name to the republic is referred to as the titular nationality. However, due to decades of Russian migration, each nationality is not necessarily a majority of a republic’s population.
During his long years in power, Vladimir Putin has launched several centralization reforms which steadily eradicated all autonomy the republics had, with the exception of Chechnya. All bilateral agreements were abolished and in practice all power rests with the central federal government.
In fact, some experts believe that Russia has ceased to be a federation.

In case anyone was wondering how things are going in Louisiana. Happy fucking Pride.
Pronoun and Name Regulation Law
HB121 — Act XXX from the 2024 Regular Session (Effective Date: August 1, 2024)
How This Law Applies:
Prohibits school employees from addressing students by a name/pronoun other than their birth name/pronoun.
DOES NOT allow for parents to request the use of their child’s chosen name/pronouns. Though the original bill did allow this, amendments stripped this piece, further restricting parental rights.
Applies to public and charter schools in Louisiana, excluding higher education institutions. Covers all public school employees, independent contractors, and students.
Defines "sex" based on the original birth certificate issued “at or near birth.”
Requires students to use the name given at birth regardless of any legal name change later on.
Schools cannot adopt policies that ask for pronouns or names other than those on birth certificates.
Respecting a trans* student’s name/pronouns is never required under this law. This law even protects employees and students from adverse actions for bullying trans/queer kids who ask for their chosen name/pronoun to be respected.
Don't Say LGBTQ+ Law
HB122 — Act XXX from the 2024 Regular Session (Effective Date: August 1, 2024)
How This Law Applies:
Prohibits discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity in classroom instruction and extracurricular activities.
Applies to public elementary and secondary schools. Excludes charter & private schools.
Censures discussions about personal sexual orientation or gender identity by school employees, even outside school activities.
Covers teachers, school employees, and any "other presenter" at a public school.
Requires pre-approval by school authorities for any content discussing LGBTQ+ issues.
Students MAY seek guidance from teachers or licensed mental health professionals only outside classroom hours and with prior parental consent.
Sports Ban Against Trans Students
SB44 — Act 283 from 2022 Regular Session (Effective Date: August 1, 2022)
How This Law Applies:
Bans trans girls from participating in sports teams that correlate with their gender identity by requiring an athletic team or sporting event sponsored by an elementary, secondary, or postsecondary educational institution to be segregated based on the “biological sex” of team members.
This law defines "biological sex" as what is found on the student's official birth certificate, issued at or near the time of the student's birth.
Allows for co-ed teams with mixed-gender participation to exist.
DOES NOT apply to any intramural athletic teams or sports
Any student can participate in any intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic teams or sports designated for boys or that are coed.
Schools can still form and maintain coed teams as long as they don’t disband the women’s team for the purpose of creating a coed team.
Penalties and Implications:
DOES NOT allow for students who are trans femme to sue in state court any school, school board, school coach, school employee, school board member, postsecondary education management board, or postsecondary education board member for following this law.
The only people who have a reason to sue according to this law are:
Cisgender girls who feel deprived of athletic opportunities or who have suffered or are likely to suffer from any direct or indirect harm as a result of a violation of this law
Cisgender girls who are subjected to retaliation or other adverse action as a result of reporting a violation of this law.
Any school officials or board members who suffer any direct or indirect harm for following this law, which prohibits trans girls from participating in a girl’s athletic team or sporting event.
Gender Regulation and Bathroom Law
HB608 — Act 436 from the 2024 Regular Session (Effective Date: August 1, 2024)
How This Law Applies:
Applies rigid and discriminatory definitions of "sex" across Louisiana state law and agency rules. These definitions focus on reproductive organs at birth.
Explicitly names that the definitions will apply to:
Public & Charter School Restrooms, Changing Rooms,  Dormitories, and overnight sleeping quarters during school trips
Domestic violence shelters
Adult and Juvenile Correctional facilities
Though the law explicitly names the above facilities, it could apply to any place that receives public funding, depending on its implementation.
DOES NOT affect private establishments unless they receive funding from the state, which is not common.
Allows single-occupancy restrooms, changing rooms, and sleeping quarters that are NOT designated by sex.
Exemptions for custodial, maintenance, medical, law enforcement services, natural disasters, declared emergencies, or threats to good order or safety, and young children who need assistance or anyone covered by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

okayy, but imagine every member of the horror house au.. in jail/prison!
I LOVE THAT!! I actually have considered this before, I love the idea and would love to explore it more!! Thank you for giving me the opportunity XDD
Horror House Horror Prison!
Tumblr media
Warnings: Like two gore mentions.
First of all, prison is not co-ed, so Chucky and Tiffany are separated- Though they are married, so they get conjugal visits. It is the worst day for everyone in the male prison, because Chucky comes back all smug and they all wanna kill him 😅.
Freddy is on constant suicide watch, because if he dies he can get back in the dream world and that make him very difficult to imprison 😅
No one fucks with Jason there (Apart from other Slashers), because he is huge and everyone knows better. Billy tries to stick around him for that reason XDD While Stu on the other hand has no problem because he's tall and fun and other prisoners just like him XD He makes prison fun! He befriends them and compliments their tattoos/crimes! Basically he's a natural there, extrovert that he is XDD
So yeah, Stu has a bunch of scary crime friends now and Billy is on very thin ice with them.
Bubba also sticks with Jason- but because he loves him, not because he needs him. Other prisoners will pick on him but no one actually touches him because he would go berserk.
Michael also doesn't get bothered but its not because of his size, obviously, he's not large- its because on the first day there he ripped someone's ear clean off their head. People give him a wide berth, apart from other Slashers (Unfortunately. Michael would love it if they would leave him be too but they always sit with him 😒😒 😅😅).
Michael, siting at lunch alone: 😑(But peaceful) Michael, when Jason sits down with his entourage (Bubba and Billy): 😑 (But frustrated) Michael, when Stu sits down, long legs knocking his own under the table: 😑 (But irritated) Michael, when Jerry, Pat and Pennywise sit down: 😑 (But questioning. Like why are you people here??) Michael, when Freddy and Chucky sit down): 😑 (But enraged)
Jerry, Patrick and 'Tad' (The name Pennywiseis under, pretending to be human so he can hang out in prison 🤣🤣) also hang out with the Slashers most of the time, but they're more independent.
Jerry is constantly fed only the tiniest bit of blood- enough to keep him 'living' but not powerful enough to escape. And he cant drink from anyone else around, because all the water has been blessed.
Also Jerry usually has the prison gossip. He walks around and charms people and they tell him what's going on (Who's coming in, who's leaving, who plans to shank Freddy or leave dog food in Chucky's bed later) and that is his addition to the group.
Patrick is pretty quiet here. He doesn't know how this happened. He was faking it so well! He covered his tracks! For this reason he kinda blames the Slashers though, because they dunno how to control themselves and got them all locked up for it (Which is true). Goes into rages and gets sent to isolation quite a bit.
Freddy is constantly bothering Pennywise about getting them out but Penny is just having so much fun here! Soooooo many fears... so many dark secrets... Its delicious.
Bubba gets really badly written letters from Drayton, Chop Top and Grandpa. Chucky and Freddy usually read them for him (I know, so nice. But they're nosy okay?? XD Allow me this). Jerry will read it if they blow him off though ^^
Michael gets visits from Dr Loomis and it can basically one of two ways- either the two men just sit there and glare at eachother for 45 minutes or Michael sits there and Dr Loomis lectures him for 45 minutes.
Okay over to the women's side of the prison!!
Just like her son, who takes after her obviously, Pam is the Big Boss and no one fucks with her around there. One sniff of disrespect and you will get a spoon in crammed down you throat.
Speaking of her son- Pam sends message with Tiffany to give to Chucky to pass son to Jason. She doenst truly trust that Chucky is doing his part-- but she has to believe ^^
And Pam is not the only one using Tiffany and Chucky's conjugal visits for her own gain XD Jennifer uses them to find out if anyone has been shanked. She has a betting pool going on with herself XD So Tiffany is just super happy, getting to go see her husband, and then Pam and Jennifer pop up just to harass her like
Guard: Valentine? Come with me, you're needed in Block 7 for your visit with Prisoner 1853. Tiffany: *Sighing happily* Oh Chucky... I'm coming! Don't wait up, ladies! Carrie: Have a good time ^^ Pam: Yes, and... if you would, could you please- Tiffany: *Frustrated sigh this time. What does she look like? A messenger pigeon??* Yeah, yeah, tell Chucky to tell Jason you love him very much and are thinkin' about 'em and hope he's doin' okay and to eat his veggies. I got it, hon... Jennifer: Yeah... Jennifer: -And before you fuck, find out if it was Freddy or Patrick that got shanked this time, K? Thanks. Tiffany: ... I swear-
Jen's just like what? I'm bored.
Maybe surprising?? But Carrie is the other one no one messes with around here XD They all heard about her massacring a whole gym worth of people and whether you believe she's magic or not-- that's still terrifying 😅😅 That halo is a trick. So there's just this adorable little blonde walking around looking nervous as hell and large terrifying women jumpin outta her way 🤣🤣
If anyone were to challenge Carrie still though, Tiffany has a shiv.
Pam has bitches. They are not Tiffany, Jennifer or Carrie... but yeah. Bitches. Women who are down bad for her and are at her beck and call. She doesn't pay them much mind, but they're there is she needs them.
