I’m so pressed about how evil this company is that I’m reposting Alex’s gofundme over here. They’re trying to bury Alex under so many legal fees that they have no choice but to give up their ip… and they’re only one of many many people (and pets!) that have been harmed by this company.

THANK FUCKING GOD
"The Supreme Court on Thursday [June 13, 2024] unanimously preserved access to a medication that was used in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year, in the court’s first abortion decision since conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago.
The nine justices ruled that abortion opponents lacked the legal right to sue over the federal Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the medication, mifepristone, and the FDA’s subsequent actions to ease access to it. The case had threatened to restrict access to mifepristone across the country, including in states where abortion remains legal.
Abortion is banned at all stages of pregnancy in 14 states, and after about six weeks of pregnancy in three others, often before women realize they’re pregnant.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was part of the majority to overturn Roe, wrote for the court on Thursday that “federal courts are the wrong forum for addressing the plaintiffs’ concerns about FDA’s actions.”
The opinion underscored the stakes of the 2024 election and the possibility that an FDA commissioner appointed by Republican Donald Trump, if he wins the White House, could consider tightening access to mifepristone, including prohibiting sending it through the mail...
Kavanaugh’s opinion managed to unite a court deeply divided over abortion and many other divisive social issues by employing a minimalist approach that focused solely on the technical legal issue of standing and reached no judgment about the FDA’s actions...
While praising the decision, President Joe Biden signaled Democrats will continue to campaign heavily on abortion ahead of the November elections. “It does not change the fact that the right for a woman to get the treatment she needs is imperiled if not impossible in many states,” Biden said in a statement...
About two-thirds of U.S. adults oppose banning the use of mifepristone, or medication abortion, nationwide, according to a KFF poll conducted in February. About one-third would support a nationwide ban...
More than 6 million people [in the U.S.] have used mifepristone since 2000. Mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone and primes the uterus to respond to the contraction-causing effect of a second drug, misoprostol. The two-drug regimen has been used to end a pregnancy through 10 weeks gestation...
Biden’s administration and drug manufacturers had warned that siding with abortion opponents in this case could [have] undermined the FDA’s drug approval process beyond the abortion context by inviting judges to second-guess the agency’s scientific judgments. The Democratic administration and New York-based Danco Laboratories, which makes mifepristone, argued that the drug is among the safest the FDA has ever approved."
-via AP, June 13, 2024
--
Note: A massive relief and a genuine victory - this will preserve access to the medication used in 2/3rds of abortions last year, for at least another 2 years. (Probably minimum time it will take Republicans to get their next attempt before the Supreme Court.)
Still, with this, a sword that has been hanging over our heads for the last two years is gone. There will be a new one soon, but we just bought ourselves probably at least 2 years. The fight isn't over, but this is absolutely worth celebrating.

yes house md as a show is outlandish and insane. house is literally a truman show of his own show. background characters are made out of cardboard, the walls are glass, he is just allowed to bully patients and his coworkers for funzies. but like there is also a deeply realistic element to house as a character. his actions are in line with his life, his backstory, and with his predicament. his chronic pain which lead to an opioid addiction, his childhood trauma, his trust issues that have definitely been shattered throughout his life leading to his cynicism, his refusal to seek mental support. of course the one constant and true trusting relationship in his life will also be codependent. this all makes sense. but this is also a show where house gets shot, gets recruited by the CIA for an episode, goes to jail multiple times. but it’s also a story about a deeply damaged man making the best of what he has and also learning to accept love? oh yeah and this is also a sherlock adaptation.

honestly, House's 'I have tenure' attitude is one of the funniest aspects of the character. He comes in late, leaves early, doesn't read his mail, doesn't write reports or do any paperwork, doesn't do conferences, regularly skips out on clinic time and even when it comes to meeting his regular 'one patient per week' quota, he'll either just hide from Cuddy after curing one or if she tells him to do his job he'll just be like "no❤️" and go to his office to play with his yo-yo or bounce balls against the wall or hang out with Wilson on company time. 'I've been through three regime-changes at this hospital'
Anti-work king.

lowkey i feel like the aro community focuses a lot of effort on trying to change people's opinions on us without wanting to actually do anything about the societal structures that prioritize romance and nuclear families

I love how they set taub’s biggest issue up to be the fact that he cheats on his wife. like that’s the only thing wrong with him really. and everybody dunks on him for it. meanwhile wilson has been causally dropping the fact that he’s a serial philanderer since season 1 and nobody bats an eye because there’s just so much else to unpack that it might be the most normal aspect of his personality

Tommy has been in a Lavender marriage for ten years and since his cousin does his taxes he actually kind of forgot about it. He's pretty sure she lives in Florida now?
Tommy gets an email from Alicia letting him know that she's thinking she might actually come out to a few of her friends, and not even thinking about it says something offhand to Buck about his wife finally coming out of the closet. "Apparently it's a good year for that."
Buck reacts to this news super extra normal-like, as we would expect.
(He spirals for days and ducks Tommy's calls and begs for advice and finally it comes to a head when he blurts out something to the effect of "Well you can't marry me if you're ALREADY MARRIED TOMMY.")
Tommy, licking powdered sugar off his thumb: Evan, you haven't even told me you love me.
Buck, flailing, halfway through his tirade, pauses and blinks: You should get a divorce.
Tommy, who has already contacted a lawyer: Do you consider it less like cheating if the words don't cross your lips?

Okay jokes aside let’s look at the reality of what the ‘happily married’ line would entail:
When we got home we were talking of the old time—which we could all look back on without despair, for Godalming and Seward are both happily married.
For one, if Art and Jack married random unnamed women, what would that have to do with the first half of the sentence?
But let’s add up a few details!
They they said that despite all their documentation, they didn’t have any actual evidence, but feel no need to prove their experiences to anyone. This means that if Art and Jack married random unnamed women, they didn’t even *attempt* to tell them about their experiences.
Second, while I could see Jack repressing the hell out of his trauma, I can’t see Arthur “happily married” in a relationship where he has to keep the circumstances of the loss of his best friend, his grief over Lucy, and his bizarrely intimate friendship with this random lawyer’s wife a complete secret. And on a more literary level, it would fully contradict the heart of the book’s themes of openness and trust to have someone’s Happily Ever After be about bottling up the most formative experiences of their life, good and bad.
Third, the secrecy option would be a contradiction to the first half of the sentence—why would Jack and Art marrying people they can never confide in lead to “we can all look back on those times without despair”?
THEREFORE. The only possible conclusion—logically, thematically, or emotionally—is that Art and Jack married each other.

To this day when Jacob visits, bruce, due to force of habit, has the urge to sit on his knees by Jacob's feet
I feel like jacob used to make him "know his place" constantly by controlling many specific things
It’s very much possible!! The way I envision it, the terrible thing is that it’s all so unintentional.
The authority figures in Bruce’s life, aside from Alfred, got off on bending him till he broke. And he didn’t. And Jacob does it, but there’s no vindication in it.
He wants Bruce strong; Not docile, or submissive, or controlled. You don’t make it in Gotham without any teeth, and he helped Bruce grow his.
Joe Chill thought Bruce tragedy, but Jacob thought him fear, and one is significantly stronger than the other.
But still.
It’s the second nature of war, controlling things. Maybe a part of you doesn’t want to. The other part of you does it anyway, and that part survives. Jacob will always be half man, half war.
Bruce is in love with mankind; That, no one can dispute.
There’s just some things you don’t unlearn. Tying your shoelaces. Riding a bike. Walking, running, fighting. For Bruce, it’s always, always yearning. He wants a warmth from Jacob because that’s his mother’s blood. And Jacob can’t give it to him.
It’d make me even sadder if Damian imitated that, thinking it’s an affectionate custom, but it’s not, and Bruce is horrified.
“No— Dami, don’t do that,” he doesn’t want to see his baby kneel by him. Ever. “That’s not good.”
“Then why do you do it?”
Bruce still looks for an answer to that.
