i mean it's not like aang didn't get completely bodied by azula, hell he almost if not straight up died, but it didn't take him 3 years to recover, and he wasn't locked away in some shitty asylum for a couple of years and left with basically nobody who gave a shit about him/disabled for long amounts of time like... why do writers subconsciously brutalise the shit out of female characters make it make sense what IS the reason hmmmmmm makes you think huh. i get it like female and male characters die horribly pretty much equally but then again the most brutal character deaths were female as well now that i think of it in lok canon (i mean wtf p'li got her head exploded by suyin and ming-hua got electrocuted to death... go figure)
