Daily Struggles of Misk’s Family – 2❗️

Hunger doesn’t wait. It doesn’t knock.

It comes quietly at first — then loudly, through the cries of a child with nothing in her stomach.

Yesterday, Misk asked me, “What does bread taste like?”

I couldn’t answer her.

Because it’s been days since we had any.

She’s four years old — and already familiar with the ache of an empty belly.

We tried boiling water just to feel warm.

We broke a stale biscuit into tiny pieces and called it “dinner.”

She pretended it was enough. She always pretends.

No parent should ever watch their child fall asleep hungry.

No child should ever feel guilty for asking to eat.

But this is our truth.

And every day, it gets harder to lie to her.

Harder to smile. Harder to survive.

If you can help us eat — just a little — you are not saving one meal.

You are saving dignity.

You are giving a father hope.

You are telling Misk: “You matter.”

This. I have not seen ANY videos/pictures/media showing destroyed buildings in israel like I have seen in Palestine. We have seen Palestine being totally leveled: bombed hospitals, houses, schools, everything. But you know what I have not seen? The same in israel. And do not even try to say "oh khamas controls israels media!!!". How? Because thats makes you sound like an antivaxxer flatearther 💀 so your opinion is automatically worthless and waste of space.

Like people make it sound like what happened on oct 7 was like The Rumbling yet I havent seen anything of that level. Yet you could think that it happened in Palestine because of all the evidence.

Bisan's recent post. I think it's important for you to read it. Tonight 03.12.23, journalists in gaza share their last messages. There are no words to describe the horrors unfolding in gaza right now.

I no longer have any hope of survival like I had at the beginning of this genocide, and I am certain that I will die in the next few weeks or maybe days. I have been sick with severe viral infection for days and cannot move from the mattress!

I suffer from nightmares that are so closely resemble reality that I no longer differentiate between reality and dream.

I live in a world other than the one I claimed to be building! I am a community activist who lived on the fantasy that the world was free and just, and I sought to bring rights not only to my people, but to many men and women in third world countries!

I was shocked that I was not from the third world! Indeed, we are the most humane and moral! Yes, because the world approves, supports, and finances the genocide we are being subjected to, legislates it, and gives reasons for for 58 days! While we are a people who have been living on occupied land for 75 years and are still searching for our rights and communicating our voice to the world!

My message to the world: You are not innocent of what is happening to us, you as governments or peoples that support Israel’s annihilation of my people. We will not forgive you, we will not forgive you, humanity will not forgive you, we will not forget, even if we die, the history will never forget .

A Message to friends: Thank you and the supporters around the world. You have been compassionate and very strong. We ask you not to lose hope, even if the world seems completely unfair and your efforts have not yet resulted in a ceasefire.

Water💧

Something so simple — yet here, it’s a battle.

Every drop we find feels like a treasure.

Most days, it’s dirty. Sometimes salty.

Always not enough.

Misk cries when she’s thirsty.

I try to distract her — with stories, with songs, with silence.

But nothing replaces water.

We go days without a proper wash.

Her tiny hands are always dusty.

Her hair hasn’t felt shampoo in months.

And when she asks me, “Why does it taste funny, Baba?”

I lie. I tell her it’s magic water.

But there’s no magic here.

Only thirst. Only disease. Only slow suffering.

Imagine brushing your teeth with polluted water.

Imagine giving that same water to your child because there’s no other choice.

This isn’t a disaster that passed.

This is a disaster that stays.

And we’re living in it — dry, desperate, forgotten.

If you can help bring us clean water — please do.

You’re not just quenching thirst.

You’re giving us back life.

It is 18 months since Israel declared war on Gaza, following the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel in October 2023, which killed more than 1,200 people. At the time of writing, more than 51,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 100,000 injured from a pre-war population of 2.2m.

That high level of fatalities has also slashed the average life expectancy of Palestinians, according to a study in The Lancet.

• For Palestinian men, the drop in average life expectancy has been 51.6% to 40.5 years during the first 12 months of the war - that’s a loss of 34.9 years of life

• For Palestinian women, it has been a cut of 38.6% to an average life expectancy of 47.5 years - a loss of 29.9 years The authors of the study concluded: “Our approach to estimating life expectancy losses in this study is conservative as it ignores the indirect effect of the war on mortality… Actual losses are likely to be higher.”

That the true number of dead has been under-reported was echoed in a separate study in February 2025.

It calculated that the death tolls issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health were likely to have been under-reported by 41% from October 2023 to June 2024.

Instead, it put the number of dead as close to 64,620 (compared to the ministry figure at the time of 37,877).

The study’s authors said that part of the discrepancy was due to issues with collecting data. The figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health were “more likely to underestimate than overestimate mortality” because secondary causes of death, including lack of food and sanitation, had been excluded.
