HE'S A ROBOT!! HE'S JUST KINDA FASCINATED ABOUT THE WAY HE'S BUILT...It's the Wingdings brain being like... "Woah, what an amazing piece of engineering.........................WHAT"

Hey, What's This?

My Brainrot <3 This is Kingswap: Also known as 'Hey lets swap The King and Siffrin's roles around in this play, and go from there'. There's more to it than that, but that's the premise. While 'The Guy Who Would Be Siffrin' has their life derailed in such a way that leads to them becoming the Main Villain, 'The Man Who Would Be King' likewise has his life play out in a way that has him in the shoes of a Saviour of Vaugarde.

WARNING This AU chatter post has spoilers for pretty much all of 'In Stars And Time', including stuff from 'Two-Hats'! and 'Start Again: A Prologue'. This is the Spoilers Zone. Also any Content Warnings that apply to In Stars and Time also applies to this post, just to cover my bases.

Let's Take a Look at The Stranger Who Could Have Been Siffrin:

Meet The Stagemaster. Potentially known as 'Sulking One'/SM/Don't Call Me Shirley Siffrin'. While the King and Siffrin in baseline ISAT woke up on a beach with no memories, i've decided it would be interesting to put 'Siffrin' in Corbeaux as a young adult when The Island disappears. He wakes up one day with no memories of his past, no name, and only a vague idea that he had a community in the city...that has forgotten him completely. He takes this Very Normally over the next 10 years (alongside some other...complications) and after some travelling, returns to Vaugarde to be a Menace.

He's also got some funny 'Craft Hands' that let him do things even when he has his hands in his cloak. These hands are also capable of conjuring wires/strings that allow him to physically bind/control people as an added bonus (For the Puppeteer motif) Watch the hands, Heroes!

But Wait, I thought The King Was Big, Why Isn't Stagemaster Big?

Because this tiny form isn't their 'true form'. THIS is what the Stagemaster ACTUALLY looks like, trapped in the House of Dormont by the Orb Door.

The Stagemaster...really isn't a person anymore. It's sort of debatable he was still human even before Big Mode. He can fly like this, and can control his cloak as though it's a part of himself (But he can still remove it) If you are looking at this going 'hey, he looks like a boss out of Kirby' then I did my job right. A theatre kid isn't very fun to watch unless seen, so, even before the Party gets to Dormont, it seemed fitting for SM to have a presence in Orbquest. So...Stagemaster controls a crafted avatar from afar - like playing a character in a game. There's a metaphor about disassociation from the self here. I personally love the idea of this nasty little guy interfering with the Orb Quest and antagonizing the Heroes - he is not NEARLY as powerful as his Big Form when he's Little Guy, so there's enough back and forth for Stagemaster to both be a threat, and also give some wiggle room for the Party to bully the Villain. Build up some rapport for funsies.

Stagemaster's a real piece of work. Imagine if Siffrin took all his self loathing, and then transformed that into outward loathing. If you took the WORST impulses from Loop and Act 5 Siffrin and put them in a blender, and then added a huge chip on his shoulder against the Universe, you might get the rancid creature you see here. Wet Meow Meow has transformed into a Feral Cat With Mange. And Rabies. And an impulsive urge to monologue. He doesn't even like puns!! Horrible!

The Party eventually calls him 'Smaster' for short before arriving in Dormont.

So if 'Siffrin' is in Kings place...Who or What is travelling with our beloved Party?

Meet Clovis (Named after an old King of Franks because I am very subtle). While Siffrin was a wet meow meow stray cat, Clovis is more a nervous dog. The King's explanation behind why he called himself The King seemed very utilitarian to me in ISAT, like he wanted to embody his role completely. So...here, Clovis puts all his eggs into his identity as 'Knight'. He doesn't serve anyone, he's just really into the idea of a brave, heroic persona. He's...very awkward and nervous, and often falls back onto 'what would a more brave, knightly sort do?' to make up for the fact his entire life was carved out of his skull with a spoon.

Look at this, took a perfectly good villain and made him a blorbo. Look at him, I gave him anxiety and sword autism. Like Siffrin, the party grows to love their weird wet dog. Mirabelle bonds over swords and anxious 'do it scared' behavior, Isabeau shares a 'battle bros'/'two bros sitting in a hot tub' dynamic, Bonnie treats him like a Substitute Teach ("yeah this is fine for kids c'mon lets go' 'uh, if you say so, boniface...') and Odile merrily bullies him (Paper beats rock)

Of course we need the Don Quixote reference. (He lost the fight, for the record.) Clovis is more than just a cute face, of course. Even he has his secrets.

Something is wrong here. Something wrong with him, maybe. Maybe he isn't supposed to be here.

Much like the King, Clovis also knows he's missing important things from his life, and has taken great effort (and personal injury) to keep what bits he can close to him - even when he really shouldn't.

The Party keeps Clovis from the Headache books not because they don't think they matter, but because the party doesn't want Clovis to hurt himself. They joke that he's an amnesiac prince from a far off land, but, well, at a certain angle, that's sort of the truth, isn't it? Clovis isn't a trap master like Siffrin, (or nearly as fast) but tends to walk as the lead of the Party because he's a Very Durable guy with some armor and protective Craft, so, any traps that explode in his face are easier to shrug off, and those that aren't...well, he's got quick reflexes.

But Wait! If The King is the looping hero, and Siffrin is the Big Evil Bad Guy, who does Clovis get as a Guide?

It's good ol' Loop! Our Loop, the Loopert we love and adore. SURPRISE! I fooled you!! This AU isn't meant to be a thought experiment, it's actually an overly elaborate way to give Loop as much psychic damage as physically possible!!

What's worse than having Another You take your place? Having a Tiny Version of your Nemesis take your place, earning the love and affection of your beloved family instead of you!

Needless to say, Loop and Clovis' dynamic is what we call in the scientific community fucking atrocious. Clovis wants to put his trust into this Guiding Star, and Loop is far, FAR worse to Clovis than Loop would be to a Siffrin. Loop may not be able to guess every single thought Clovis has, but any anxiety that is a reflection of Loop/Siffrin will be mercilessly picked apart with a smile. It's hate at first sight. At least Loop can take solace in the fact that Clovis is just as clueless as Loop/Siffrin was in their loops.

Clovis meanwhile is just intimidated. A guiding star of the universe?? And they hate him already??? 'Ohh...I really messed up already, haven't I? What'd I do???' Anyways, that's all for now. I just really wanted to get my initial brain worms out of my head and into the world. Please enjoy. Random Musings on Gale and His Relationship With Mystra

I find Gale's relationship with Mystra to be one of the most fascinating parts of his story. It’s a dynamic that can be viewed in many different ways, depending on how you approach it and I think that’s part of what makes it so compelling. While some might see it literally, I’d like to explore it through a more allegorical perspective, though I want to be clear: this is just one way to interpret their relationship, and other viewpoints are just as valuable. This isn't even the only way that I personally interpret them haha. (I just have to be nuanced, it's a compulsion truly.)

In literature and mythology, take Greek mythology, for instance, relationships between gods and mortals can often carry deeper, symbolic meanings. The gods aren’t always just powerful beings they can represent larger forces like nature, fate, or human desires. This approach, called allegorical interpretation, is something I find really enjoyable! It adds layers to a story.

Consider the famous story of Paris’s judgment of the goddesses. The goddess Eris, seeking to sow discord, throws a golden apple inscribed “for the fairest” into a wedding attended by Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. They decide to have the mortal Paris judge who deserves the apple most out of the three of them and is thus the fairest.

Each goddess offers Paris a gift in exchange for the title. Athena offers great tactical ability, Hera promises leadership over vast kingdoms, and Aphrodite tempts him with the love of Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world (who happens to already be married). Paris chooses Aphrodite, gains Helen as a lover and this leads to the Trojan War. Beyond the literal reading, this story can be seen as desire (Aphrodite) overcoming both wisdom (Athena) and marriage (Hera). Paris's fatal flaw is his lust for Helen. The story can also be interpreted as Paris losing due to declining to accept both of the other offers. He fails strategically in the ensuing war and also causes the collapse of his own kingdom.

Mystra, as the living incarnation of the Weave, can be interpreted similarly. She isn’t merely Gale's ex-lover. She is magic itself, the force that gives Gale his entire identity. Their relationship transcends romance; it’s more like that of a man consumed by his craft to an unhealthy degree. Like a mathematician to mathematics, or a physicist to physics, he's in love with something that can't love him back.

His attempt to give Mystra a gift she's never received before, something truly incredible, is due to his belief that transcending all limits to somehow earn Mystra’s (and thus, magic’s and his life's work's) recognition is both possible and necessary. It was 100% done with the best intentions but tragically any all-consuming passion carries the risk of blowing up in your face. (Just look at Alfred Nobel, pun intended) And, due to the aforementioned "blow up", his emotional low and his measurable low in his abilities correspond quite directly

There is a cut dialogue from early access about how much of his power he lost after this:

You see, this fire – there was a time that I could make it come alive. That it would take the shape of a dragon and roar in delight. There was a time I could silence a Beholder with a word, and lift a tower from its foundations with a flourish. There was a time I was all but one with the Weave. But no more – a mere shadow of the wizard I used to be. Why? Because I’ve lost.

A key theme in their relationship (in my opinion) is not just Mystra’s rejection but what her rejection represents: The collapse of Gale’s identity as a powerful magic user. (An identity he's built his life around and sacrificed for ever since he was a child)

Without this, he starts self destructing. He has to make do with consuming scraps of magic rather than the all encompassing sort he used to receive from Mystra's presence.

While Mystra’s treatment of Gale is undeniably harmful, I think it’s important to recognize that she is not cruel in a personal, calculated way. She is so out of touch with normal people that she’s more akin to a force of nature. As an arbiter of natural laws, she wants to control him/kill him because he represented a destabilizing influence, not out of any targeted animosity. (Which is arguably worse than outright hate depending on your point of view)

Now for a bit of a change in topic I wanted to go over his different endings:

His "good" ending comes from the realization that magic, or any external force, cannot be the source of true self-worth. The deeper theme here, beyond just getting over an ex-relationship, is that Gale must learn to build relationships with people and and find a healthy balance between his work and personal life, rather than devoting himself wholly to impersonal things at the cost of his well-being. He has to learn that he is "Galenough," as @ekansbot once put it. Ultimately, his growth in this regard is best shown with his choice to embrace his ordinary, human last name "Dekarios", rather than defining himself solely as the archmage "of Waterdeep."

More evidence about the meaning of names to him, earlier during the conversation with Mystra in the tabernacle, she will either call him "Gale Dekarios" if she's displeased to remind him of his humanity, or"Gale of Waterdeep" when pleased to inflate his ego with a title. This shows how revolutionary it is for him to willingly forego having a title at all in this ending as it had been something he sought in the past.

Alternatively, and more fun for my tragedy-loving psyche, he can totally succumb to his flaws and lose himself. In this case the orb's desires fully supplant him as a person. He becomes a power hungry god, doomed to perpetuate the same callousness Mystra showed to him. His grand dreams of bettering the world fades, and his only goals shift to slowly gathering more power and followers and eventually challenging the rest of the gods. He entirely gives up on being a "person" he's the god of ambition now, and you can see it in the way he speaks how much he has mentally separated himself from the mortal world. He has fully given up on having a life outside of his obsessions. It’s quite dark. (Though not quite as dark as my absolute favorite, the Absolute ending, where you use thousands of mind controlled innocents to become Kratos.)

Something that's extra sad for you. If the player character chooses to break up with him after becoming a god he says "so I'm still not enough for you" Aghh it's horrible. His insecurities only get worse as a god.

Or... he could kill himself. Literally destroying his darker hungers (the orb) for an altruistic purpose, but he also, obviously, destroys himself in the process. Very sad indeed.

Now, here’s something I find fascinating:

If Gale chooses not to use the crown, nor to surrender it to Mystra, but instead lets it remain in the water, the orb stays within him but rather than being a catastrophe it actually becomes harmless and inert.

Why does this happen? Gale speculates that it's because he has found contentment due to the player character's romance with him.

This reveals something crucial: the orb, from the very beginning, was tied to his own emotions. It was basically an extension of him all along. He was inadvertently the one driving the orb’s power. It was his own despair and obsession that were indirectly killing him the entire time! It's very tragic but also supremely interesting!

It is this somewhat gut wrenching realization, though, that makes this the best "good" ending. He doesn't have to apologize to Mystra to get a happy ending out of pity. Instead, it is his own emotional catharsis that resolves the problem of the orb internally, rather than it being fixed through external means. It also has a sort of Jungian quality to it that I really like. With the idea of integrating and accepting all parts of oneself (allowing the orb to remain, but becoming settled and integrated), rather than trying to shed them being a theme I think fits his character well. Additionally, he keeps the orb scar, which looks pretty neat. :)

(in other words, can we see Alastor in a dress, Vaggie can't be the only one who gets to see him like that)

The sort of outfits and ways she'll get him in said outfits will vary. Vaggie for the most part does genuinely try to find and put him in feminine clothes of his time (so she more than likely has gone to cannibal town for dresses). But she's definitely not opposed to putting him in more, shall we say... skimpy attire. Or things that perhaps don't fit quite right on him.

Other residents have 100% seen him outside his normal attire because of Vaggie. And have perhaps gotten a bit more of a show than Alastor would ever intend for anyone to see (though that's never Vaggie's intention).

I'm becoming sick over the mad scientist AU and it's negatively impacting how I view everything in life (I was in Psychology and I started thinking about how Wen Ruohan would so take a look at Milgram n fucken Bandura n Skinner n be like "how can I use this to fuck up everyone around me") so I'm fuelling the addiction. Wei Wuxian. Whipped, recovering from a fever, slowly starting to ponder the reliability of what the Wens have been telling him, as well as the implications of it. Turning to Wen Qing while she's rebandaging his wounds after he opened them during sword practice - she's not allowed to heal them, they're supposed to be a message - and asking her if she would tell him the truth if he asked her something someone else had lied to him about. She pauses, and he isn't able to see her expression as she tells him that no, she wouldn't, not if it meant the rest of her family being in danger of death. Of course, this is more than answer enough, and he doesn't ask her any more questions; he can't have his family getting hurt in his hunt for the truth, and he can more than definitely find out everything without having to get any of them involved.

He starts his hunt for knowledge with a carefully timed trip; the moment that his back is given a (sort of) all clear by Wen Qing, he's back to his regular self, bounding around the place and telling Wen Ruohan that he wants to go back to the cave of the Xuanwu of Slaughter to see if there's anything cool to be found in its remains. "After all, it was built off resentment!" He explains, carefully not mentioning the fact that there was anything in particular so that the man doesn't get suspicious. Wen Ruohan allows him to go, but Wen Zhuliu (who is basically assigned to him, much to Wen Chao's chagrin) has to go along, 'just in case'. That's fine - Wei Wuxian's used to getting things past him at all times, so it's easy to get a messenger bird to start following him from a distance on the travel there, and embarrassingly easy to get a message attached to it under the guise of climbing a tree just because. Wen Zhuliu doesn't question it when a bird flutters off, obviously just startled by the boy disturbing its home.

Then there comes the actual searching of the corpse - it absolutely reeks already, but he's more than used to the smell of rotting flesh and doesn't even blink twice before he's diving into the water to search for that sword he lost earlier (yes, Wen Qing did tell him not to get his wounds wet). Wen Zhuliu watches carefully from atop the shell of the corpse, but a well-timed talisman that sets off a crumbling near the entrance to sound like someone slipping or something sends him darting off to check it out just as Wei Wuxian locates the sword half buried beneath the corpse sludge pouring out of the shell. He shoves it into his qiankun sleeve and then grabs a couple other old weapons that could be used for some experiments to appease Wen Ruohan and beams at Wen Zhuliu as he returns with a "look what I found, Zhuliu-ge!! These are going to be so fun to work with!"

It's a few days before he gets a response; he's just glad that the messenger bird managed to make it to his chosen correspondent without getting shot down or lost, and it's made better by a response from the boy (he shouldn't feel so surprised, Nie Huaisang most certainly owes him after what he's been through after letting him escape). He just asked him to tell him about the different clans, and Nie Huaisang has gone above and beyond with a letter detailing the basics of each main clan, and then going into extra detail about what the Nies are like. It's different to how Lan Wangji talked about his home, much more excited and enthusiastically proud of Qinghe compared to the other boy's quiet pride of the Cloud Recesses, but they both just have so much love for places that Wei Wuxian had been raised believing were literal hellholes of their own special kind. Not fit for someone like him.

I should keep talking about how Wei Wuxian becomes more aware of the surrounding world and how he corroborates those answers with different books smuggled in by Xue Yang (who found all of Wei Wuxian's correspondence with Nie Huaisang and demanded to be included because heeeyyyy :[) He's obviously leaving a paper trail so that in case of something going wrong, nobody else can be blamed for Wei Wuxian finding out about the lies the Wen have been raising him on. I actually don't want to because I'm tired and this part is boring me - it's basically just hyjinks mixed with Wei Wuxian slowly starting to break apart because he's learning that he's been assisting the real monstrous sect all along. He's killed people, innocent individuals that had not volunteered to have different resentful energy pumped into them and their organs be systematically taken out. He's really not doing well because of it while trying to act So Normal around everyone else.

I think this all comes to a head when Wei Ying finds out about his parents. He's just received a new letter from Nie Huaisang, yapping on about how honestly, he thought that Wei Ying would "not be this chill at all!! You know, considering all of the horror stories and the experimenting and the blood and the fact that you work for the guys who killed your parents-" W h a t . What. What. He keeps rereading this sentence, over and over again, but it doesn't seem to stick. He feels colder every time the words slide through his brain. No, his parents were killed on a night hunt. The Wen had...but why would they? It's become clear that they don't care about things that aren't useful to them. This teenager, this boy who is already emotionally unstable right now, snaps. Qi deviation mixing with the resentful energy crawling through his body just grab him all at once.

Wen Zhuliu is standing outside Wei Wuxian's experimenting rooms as usual, ignoring the noises coming from inside as usual, until there's a particularly large crash inside. At this point, he can't ignore it anymore and opens the door to be greeted with Wei Wuxian obviously qi deviating and covered in blood which would be normal if not for the fact that he just got new robes and there is no corpse in this room. So it is his own blood. His breathing is heavy and uneven, his fingers are curled inwards with Suibian ever faithfully in his hand. Raw qi and resentful energy crackles around the room and Wen Zhuliu is ready to call for Wen Qing when their eyes meet and he realises that they are clear. Focused. They look upon him and they are filled with a visceral, feral hatred of what they see. The man of course tries to brace himself for an attack, gearing up to crush Wei Wuxian's core, but he is not ready for the power coursing through the teenager's veins in his distress.

When other guards (and Xue Yang) come running at all of the commotion, they are met with Wei Ying sat in a pool of blood, using nothing but his bare hands to rip at Wen Zhuliu's already mutilated body, chunks of flesh and muscle dropping around him and different shredded organs splattered around the gore stained room. The man's throat lies next to his head. When Wei Ying notices the other guards, the only thing stopping him from attacking them as well is the fact that Xue Yang is the one standing in the doorway, staring down at him with actual, real concern and horror - not for Wen Zhuliu, but for Wei Ying.

Thanks for the tag, @endwersed!💗 I'm shaking with the need to share this wip that I've been writing for @hotgirlstiles and as it won't see the light until I finish it, I thought I'd treat all of you lovely kittens with this piece

Carefully, he inspected Stiles’ face since the omega refused to meet his eyes. “Do you want a second date?”

Stiles was silent for as long as he could afford, and then murmured a quiet and guilty, “No.”

Sharp satisfaction splashed upon Derek’s insides like burning acid.

“Want me to reject him for you?” he asked with his head inclined.

Stiles stiffened with one steak lifted above the plate. He turned his big eyes at Derek.

“You’ll do that?” he asked in awe-filled disbelief.

Derek clenched his teeth so as not to blurt out all the things he was ready to do just for that gaze alone.

“Yes,” he said simply.

Stiles bloomed with a breathtaking smile. For the first time that day, it was completely genuine, fresh like the first rays of sunshine on the morning dew. His eyes shined and his cheeks went pink with pleasure.

Derek couldn’t look away, even if he wanted to.

“Thank you,” said Stiles with a true shyness this time trembling in his voice.

Unable to speak, the wolf nodded.

He wanted to run again. Not away, but just run to expel the energy, the rage, and elation that built in him from being near Stiles. All his senses were on edge, strung tight like a cord, ready to snap and take.

How much would Stiles fear him were he to know how close Derek was to wolfing out? Would he run? Would he scream when Derek inevitably chased?

The tips of Derek’s fingers shook with restraint. He clenched them into fists.

He didn’t talk much after that, closer to his wolf than usual. He couldn’t tear his gaze — most certainly intense and uncomfortable — from the now relaxed omega. Derek waited until Stiles took the first bite before taking his own — something that was easily missed by the omega who hardly knew any of the werewolf traditions and what it meant when the alpha steps aside and let you lead.

Stiles crawled under his skin where the fur lay hidden, waiting for a chance to burst and growl. He went further, through Derek’s muscles and his veins — his very flesh — to settle there as if he owned the place.

Derek tasted the food that the omega made for him — god if only he knew — and hungered for the taste of the future with him.

He wasn’t alone in that hunger, though. Oh, no. Those filthy vermin wanted Stiles, too. In fact, one of them sat not even an hour ago across from Stiles, just like Derek did now, and fantasized about the same things.

Yet, Stiles came back to him. He came back because he knew Derek could provide for him just like he wanted. Stiles came back and asked the wolf to get rid of his rival.

If only Stiles knew.

One detail I find weirdly bittersweet is how both Orion and D-16 were curious young bots who wanted to learn more about their world. It's more obvious with Orion, who wanted to sneak into the archives to learn about Cybertronian history. I think it's mentioned in the novel that Orion would often ramble about Cybertronian history so much that D-16 would act disinterested, which surprised Orion since he couldn't understand how anyone could not be fascinated by it.

Yet, Dee was always interested in his own way. In the storyboards, his dream was to lead an expedition off Cybertron to explore uncharted worlds and locations for Cybertron’s progress. That boy was just as curious and eager to learn—both of them shared the same curiosity and thirst for knowledge, just channeled differently,he never even wanted to become something even remotely close to a soldier,he never wanted to pick up a gun at all and that makes me so sad.

This fits so well within the narrative sense of how they started with the same goal in mind—bringing down Sentinel and rebuilding society with the power Alpha Trion entrusted to all four of them. Yet, the paths they took to achieve that goal were starkly different. Orion saw how broken the system was under Sentinel and sought to create a better system. D-16, on the other hand, wanted to kill Sentinel, destroy everything he built, and rebuild from the ashes.

To think that, in a better world, their initial dreams could have actually been realized... it's just so sad. I need someone to write an AU where Dee gets to lead that expedition he always wanted and Orion to get that opportunity to learn about Cybertronian history,maybe in a world where Sentinel never succeeded in killing the Primes by a deux ex machina they survived so the two of them were able to grow up and live normal fulfilling lives 🥹.

Also I think it was also mentioned in another storyboard that Elita's dream was always to become a soldier imagine in this perfect scenario she gets to enlist in the High Guard or something like that,since they were the army of Cybertron before Sentinel took over, (although honestly I feel like she'd still try and overwork herself either way for a promotion, she's still very much a perfectionist)

I wonder what B-127's dream was I don't believe it was ever mentioned,he did say he wanted to work for the government but I'm not sure of an exact profession for him.
