i realize this looks finished, but technically i'm still deciding whether to add a background or not lol. still, for the sake of sharing a proper WIP, here's a line or two from an araleyn brainworm WIP that i started reworking yesterday (mild tw for religious guilt and period-typical internalized homophobia from aragon's pov):

She remembers sharing her bed with Anne at Henry's behest, remembers the nights of tossing and turning and trying not to think about Anne asleep next to her-- remembers waking up to dark hair spilling across her pillow and the press of blood-warm bosoms against her own, softer than sin, as hot as the Devil, remembers lying still as death, mouthing prayers into the heat of Anne's neck like an act of penance.

WIP Wednesday (1/15) | Arsonist Neil / Firefighter Andrew AU (Part 273)

Gradually the sun starts to slip beneath the buildings on the other side of the street and the cafe starts to empty. But Andrew is in the middle of an anecdote about college, so Neil pays all that no mind. He stares at Andrew and listens to him bitch about exy and Kevin Day and his brother and everything else.

Eventually, the place is completely deserted and the lights in the back shut off. A moment later, a woman in a cheerful yellow sweater comes to inform them that, "Hey fellas, I'm glad your date is going well, but we closed five minutes ago so I have to ask you to leave now. We open at eight if you need somewhere to sit tomorrow."

Neither of them argues and neither of them denies it's a date. Neil wonders if Andrew agrees with her assessment. If he thinks it's going well. Neil thinks it is. But his experience is severely lacking. Andrew must've done this a hundred times and here Neil is on his first fucking date. It's almost embarrassing to think about, but Neil pulls his hood up over his head and follows Andrew out of their booth.

ANDREW

On their way out to the cars, Andrew is grateful for the beanie 10 gave him. The wind is vicious and he doesn't see how 10 can stand it with only a light jacket. He stops in front of his car, trying to decide what to do next. The obvious thing is to say goodnight and go their separate ways, but some part of him wants to drag 10 into his car and do unspeakable things to him.

"Hey, uh," 10 begins eloquently, startling Andrew out of his conundrum. He's rocking on his heels beside Andrew like a child with too much energy. "Kiss me again."

"Why?"

"Because I want you to." 10 answers. And that's a good reason, Andrew thinks. He pulls 10 in by the back of his neck and kisses him stupid, until he's got 10 pinned against his car and a pair of scarred hands on his head.

Speaking of his head, Andrew nearly loses it somewhere between the kisses and the tiny sound 10 keeps making. By the time they break for air, Andrew is in need of a cigarette. Or a bullet to the brain. Something, anything, to make him feel normal again.

Because he wants to get on his knees. He wants to suck 10's soul out. But they're in public. And Andrew couldn't pull the Aaron card on something as indecent as a public blowjob. He almost asks 10 to come home with him, to go anywhere with him that has four walls and a ceiling so he can drag more noises out of him. But he chokes on the question.

UNWANTED thoughts? like they can be conscious, it isn't always just a random out of left field thing. it can be thinking something and then being like hey what the fuck that's fucked up and not a thought I want in my head why is that there? I guess just trying to convince myself that my worries and spirals affect my subconscious, which affects the things that pop into my head AND that I end up thinking, and that it isn't a reflection of some deep evil inside me
