The dog was huge, like could have easily toppled Brooke over huge, so the fact that he'd stopped and hadn't barreled her over was certainly appreciated and she happily rewarded him with pets. A small chuckle left the blonde at his words and she shook her head slightly. She couldn't recall the last time someone had called her that and her brows rose for a moment, but she was distracted by listening to his explanation, and by his handsome face. "That's okay." she offered, a small chuckle leaving her as the large puppy rolled over against her for her to pet his belly and despite the other's look she obliged. She'd always loved dogs though she'd never been able to own one herself. Another light laugh left her as she patted Ice's belly before moving to stand. "Well, thankfully he seemed to spare me the tongue treatment,," she said, just as the dog stood and moved to lick at her hand, eliciting another laugh from her. "Spoke too soon." she pulled her hand away only to pet at the dog's head before holding her hand out. "I'm Brooke, by the way, y'know, instead of Goldie." she teased, mentioning the moniker he'd dawned on her moments ago.

Initially, Rachel had been relieved; a six hour round trip for prisoner transport is a decidedly unfun assignment. The annoyance had only been lessened by Art deciding it was best that she and Tim go together.

But instead of the good company she'd expected, they've spent the trip so far in silence.

Her fingers flex around the steering wheel. "You haven't said a word in an hour," she observes, voice tight. It's not anger that laces her words, though she thinks she'd be perfectly right to feel it, but there's no denying something complicated lurks in her tone. "And the first thing you imply that it's my fault?"

Rachel doesn't bother pointing out that he'd been late, he hadn't been waiting on the front steps like she's come to expect whenever she picks him up. He hadn't answered his phone nor did he rush out the door when she honked. Using the key was the logical next step.

"Do you really think I would've gone into your apartment if I expected to see Raylan spreadin' you six ways to Sunday?" She shudders, fingers flexing again. Rachel could have survived Raylan sneaking out in a state of undress, but well, when did he ever do anything by half measure.

Lingering near the S section of the vinyls, flicks passed Sublime and is pleased to find Flood by Submergence nestled between them and Suede, taking it upon himself to assume that the singular copy meant it was selling well in the uptick of promo for Tsunami.

He wanders to the next section, perusing then for new records to listen to rather than his band, when the attendant catches his eye. He looks familiar to him not because he knows him but because he knows of him, and it spurs him to strike up a conversation.

Brooke couldn't hide the annoyance on her features when he finished speaking and in her tone when she responded. "I'm sorry, you're seriously canceling our vacation and taking a business trip with your dad on our two year anniversary?" The fact that they'd been together that long was pretty much a miracle in itself. Half the time it felt like they were just putting up with each other, but she did love him, and she was pretty sure he loved her; neither of them was just the best at showing that. Unless they were in the bedroom, physicality - easy, communication on the other hand, not so much. "You're joking, right?"
