🌟 …someone my muse trusts.
"That's a hard one, as I have so many people I can trust. I'd probably say Lucky though. I feel like he's that guy I can always rely on, and I always seem to have a laugh with him. Everything is ten times more fun when he's around, and I know he'll always support me in whatever decisions I make. He's good like that, doesn't judge."

💩 …someone my muse dislikes, but admires.
"In some aspects, my brother. He is who he is and he is how he is, he's never made an apologies for that unlike me. I feel like I'm always apologising for the way I am even when I'm not saying it. I think he sleeps better at night than I do."

Talk about - lucky
"Have you ever had someone be so jealous of you before? That's Lucky. He hides it well, but I'm pretty sure he wishes he could be me. I have the boy he clearly wants, and I've seen the way he looks at my hair - he envies my lushious locks. Sorry, we can't all be perfect. He seems alright though, I suppose. Again, I think I've said this before, but he seems like a good friend to Finn. His daughter's pretty cute, guess she got the good genes from her mom. I mean, not to say he's bad looking, because he's not... he could easily pass for a model, or like, I don't know, a Greek god. If you're into that. Shame his personality ruins it. I mean did you see him trying to pull off Patrick Swayze's Jonny at Halloween? Pft, who does he think he is, he can't even dance. I'll be staying firmly in this corner, thank you very much."

"Can I?" Lucky asks, seeking permission from the shortest person in the room who delighted in taking her time to think about it. She grants it by scooting over to make space for her father, a purple crayon accompanying the green light that he took with a thanks and a kiss to her forehead as he joined the pair of them.
"Look," Theo points to the ears Leo speaks of and Lucky gives an approving nod to the size and shape of them.
"Those are some mighty well-drawn ears. Some of the best I've ever seen."
When Theo angles the paper toward him, he takes his cue to colour in some purple on the white parts that had been missed by her, careful to remain inside the lines so his colouring-assistant rights weren't revoked.
"Still, you're a lifesaver and I owe you big time."
He found himself saying similar words to several people in his life since moving back and being a part of Theo's, the help a necessity that left him even more in awe of everything that Tabitha had managed to do by herself.
"They were little--" He looks directly at his friend as he mouths the word 'assholes', "--Angels. As always. Hopefully there'll be less angelic puppies and kittens in my future if this job search goes well."
@leomlarson
"All good, man. Gives you some time to draw with us for a bit." Leo waved the hot pink pastel he was holding to beckon Lucky over before putting a final touch on the Theo-as-Lavagirl portrait in front of him.
He'd put it on for them earlier, complete with the old Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D glasses that came in the case of his truly worn out DVD. He'd needed an Advil for the headache the 3D had given him — god, was he getting old? — but he was certain that that was going right into the rotation.
"No, no, that was all you," he said, pointing the pastel at Theo. "I might've given a few pointers on how big the ears should be, but other than that," he pantomimed an explosion over his head, "she rocked it."
"Oh, dude, you know it's never a problem. It was great," he said, picking up on the subtlety Lucky was angling for and keeping it vague so that Theo's attention didn't turn. "We had dino nuggets as a snack earlier. Not too much, though, didn't wanna ruin her appetite for dinner."
Focusing on the details of Lucky's face now, he picked up a dark blue crayon and started to sketch the outlines of Sharkboy. "How were the pups today?"

The news of an affair takes Lucky by surprise, the blink of his eyes giving that away as soon as the word was used. It wasn't that he necessarily thought their marriage was on such solid footing that he believed something of that nature couldn't occur -- he wouldn't assume as much of any relationship he wasn't involved in -- but he was reminded of the crumbling months of his parent's marriage.
Mabel had been the one to step out on the union and not Liam, but it had felt like a betrayal of the entire family when he finished high school with a fracture to his that still hadn't healed to this day.
"On your birthday?" Lucky says like it's one of the worst things he's ever heard, shaking his head. No one deserved that, Aylin even less so.
"That's awful. I'm glad you're not in that anymore, you deserve better."
He hopes she finds that too.
Lucky feels a little guilty talking about Mac in the wake of what Aylin had confided but he doesn't want to dwell on what he assumes she doesn't want to speak too much on.
"We met here as kids. Her family moved into the house beside mine when were seven, maybe eight. Her and my twin sister actually became friends so we grew up together really. I liked her in high school but we never really explored and then she ended up in London when I was studying there. We were seeing each other for a year but we never defined what it was which I regret then she went on tour with a band she was working with and it was pretty over. I met someone else, she met someone else. I moved back here in February 2023 and she ended up moving back that summer and we just sort of hit it off again. I was smarter about it this time though, I asked her to be my girlfriend this summer."
( Smart-ish given it had taken him a year to. )
"It's going pretty good. I like her a lot, she's great. Way cooler than me so as long as she never discovers that we'll be doing alright. Keep your fingers crossed for me."
@aylinxc-s
A look of surprise splashed across her face. She probably should have known what he'd studied, they'd likely even talked about it at some point. Internally, she tried not to punish herself for forgetting such a fact. Her mind wasn't what it used to be these days. "I think you've more than done your time there," Aylin agrees. Although working with animals was rewarding in it's own way, she could understand how it could feel exhausting.
"It'll be good for you to get out and start doing what you really want to do." It sounded like everything was working out for Lucky and she couldn't but feel as though no one deserved it more. He'd worked so hard in the time they'd known each other.
"It's okay," she dismisses, as she has with every apology that she'd recieved about it. "It hadn't been working for some time and I just couldn't let it go on." Finding out about Ari's indiscretion was a bitter pill to swallow when she'd tried so hard to be better for him, for them. "He had some kind of affair with someone else. Not physical, at least that's what he says." Her tone implies that she wasn't exactly sure that was the truth. "I found out on my birthday." Only adding insult to injury.
Desperate to change the subject, lest she start crying yet again. "But it's okay, I'm okay." She wasn't sure who she was trying to convince, but Aylin was the master of putting on a brave face. Clearing her throat, she gave Lucky a forced smile. "Now, tell me about this girl. How did you meet?"

"Third-first-kiss-aversary," Lucky repeats, the last syllable trailing off as he's distracted by her mouth. He's never happy with just one kiss so he chases another, both his arms around her waist as he manned the task of making sure neither of them bumped into a person or a piece of furniture in Melodies.
He's a little cocktail tipsy and a lot love-drunk, a combination that easily bested his social anxiety even when he hears a throat clearing next to them.
With regret, he ceases the kissing so he could relay the private room she had booked, giving Mac's name that was initially confused for Mack's due to how often her lanky older brother frequented the place.
"Right family, wrong one," He corrects, head nodding towards his girlfriend, "Macaulay."
With the mix-up sorted in an 'ahh' and the tap of thumbs on a screen, Lucky follows the host as she leads them to the space that was theirs for an hour.
@macaulaymontgomery
"I don't know what you meeeeaaaannnn," Mac replied in a sing-song voice of faux innocence as she tugs him along further into the venue.
"Because I certainly didn't time this perfectly so we could show up to our reservation for a private karaoke room to belatedly celebrate our third-first-kiss-aversary."
She pulls his arm around her waist and raises on her toes to kiss him.
"Just kidding. I sure fucking did."

With four years in London under his belt, there was one non-negotiable in any kitchen that Lucky spent any decent amount of time in -- an electric kettle. With a Yorkshire tea teabag already sat in his mug along with a teaspoon of sugar, Lucky leaned against the counter edge mindlessly scrolling on his phone while he waited for the button to click and signal that the water was boiled.
In an instant, the appearance of his friend provides a far more interesting way to pass the time.
He waves back at her with his free hand, deliberately remaining silent to let her speak, intrigued to find out how she was going to explain being in her ex's apartment while dressed as her ex.
"No, Mac's dead to the world with a Squishmallow in her arms right now. No one's going to see her until noon at the earliest."
Except for Lucky that was, who would miss her by eleven and try to coax her awake.
"Is that why you're here? Mac?" He asks, letting Cricket choose whether she wanted there be a k on the end of that shared nickname. He has a pretty good guess about it, but this was more fun.
"That's an interesting outfit."
The sound of boiler water sloshing within the kettle reaches a crescendo as he falls silent, the click of the kettle he had been waiting for following and going momentarily unnoticed by him.

All Cricket had wanted to do today was stay in bed.
So maybe it'd initially been for a different reason than why it was all she wanted to do now, though both had everything to do with a certain someone whose half-blonde head was currently slumped against and blowing hot breath across her stomach.
It'd been almost two years since she'd last woken up in Mack's bed, and a little less than that since she'd last slipped out of it. Despite the time, untangling herself from him is all muscle memory; a slow, careful dance as to not wake him as she shifts out from underneath his weight and tiptoes towards his bedroom door, but an effort that is very quickly disregarded when finds herself unable to resist returning for a kiss to his cheek and a whispered promise to be right back.
It wasn't like she was going far. The kitchen was only down the hall and all she'd gotten up for was a glass of water anyways, fully prepared to bee-line it straight for the cabinet she knew the cups were kept in and crawl back into bed before he could even miss her.
(But if he did anyways, that was fine by her too.)
Attempting to rub both the sleep and the slight headache out from behind her eyes, Cricket pauses with her hand still pressed to the side of her head when she realizes she was not the only one awake in the apartment.
"Good morning…" She offered Lucky an awkward wave from the doorway, catching a glimpse of the time displayed on the microwave behind him. "Okay, wow. Or afternoon, I guess. Are you, um--Mac, is she, like awake yet or…?"

"What is it you think I'm capable of that's worthy of this kind of clawed wrath?" Lucky asks with a grin, hoping to find himself one step closer to an epiphany on why cats generally didn't tend to vibe with him. Two years at the vet's had shown him that it wasn't just some cats and it wasn't just some of the time.
"I'd love to know why cats seem me and see a scratching post with eyes."
He fixes the strap of the bag on his shoulder as he took the turn into the station, making his way towards the unmissable red of the doors that led to the inside bay.
"I'll be glad to be not lugging these around any longer."
@olie-pop
Olie walked alongside Lucky as the two made their way to the fire station, a box in hand filled with more donations awkwardly pressed against her stomach. She should have brought a bag instead, much like her companion did, but... oh well.
Lucky for her, the station wasn't too far off now.
"Hmm?" she hummed, looking over at him. She made a show of squinting her eyes at the scrape. "I don't even see anything, what do you even mean?" she teased lightly.
"You probably deserved it."

"You know," Lucky says with a tone that held equal amusement as it did suspicion, as he trails into Melodies hand-in-hand with her for the second detour of their date night after stopping off at The Reef after dinner, "I'm starting to think this whole night was an elaborate ruse for you to get us here."

🕯️ + lucky!
"Have you ever found someone whose silence you can comfortably sit in? A low maintenance hang that recharges your social battery with no expectations for it to be a grand adventure? This steady platform for me to bounce thoughts and theories and anything from.
A conversation alone can be adventurous in itself with none other than Lucky Lewis. Let's face it - I'm a smart guy, and not many people hold up when it comes to holding a conversation with me. God, how did he get so smart? Twenty four and an absolute genius. He taps away at that keyboard and can code while I look at that stuff like it is some form of untranslated hieroglyphics.
He's a great man, a great father and a great friend."

"Ah, see you and all that smooth talking," He says with a hand falling over his heart as Finn bigs up his company, "You get me in trouble."
That trouble was Madison Colbert shaped and Lucky would look into the eye of that storm any time just to see what would happen. His daughter, on the other hand, had far more sway over him which is why he would make it a mission that she didn't find out the first carriage ride he took with her wasn't the first one he had ever been on.
"What I'm hearing is we both agree that this delightful little clip-clop we're on is strictly between us, to the grave. For both of our sakes."
He holds his hand across to his friend to shake on it, like an all important oath was being sealed over the sound of hooves and turning carriage wheels.
"It's a big year for Squishmallows in our house. Have you ever seen them? They're kind of ugly, but she loves them. So does Mac, so I got them a matching pair which I think they'll dig. The big gift this year is a bike though, I'm excited about hopefully teaching her how to ride it properly."
There was no end to the list of memories he was looking forward to making with her.
@finn-brooks
It is for the second full winter in a row Finn is under the palm trees with mountains climbing up to the skies in the east, and an ocean stretching far and wide to the west. The horse carriages are festive, if not out of place, but that might be only for the fact that he thinks of historic cities from the thirteen colonies when it comes to the clip-clopping of hooves on the street.
"I do," he eventually answers with a soft grin. "Especially the company. But the whole thing makes me nostalgic." It also gets him excited for his trip home in a couple weeks.
Finn laughs out, "Lucky Lewis! You brought me out on a horse-drawn carriage ride for Christmas before your daughter? Godspeed." He takes a cautious glance behind them for what he can see just in case. "I also am out here before taking Madison out, so I might be in danger. You, more so, but we are both playing with fire."
He settles back only when he can determine the coast is actually clear and switches the subject. "So, what's Theo's big gift ask this year? Anything wildly outlandish, or has she taken a more practical route?"
@luckylewis
