Imagine being 9 years old and asking your dad about the things you're interested in doing when you grow up and he's like "No ❤️! But you can get married, have babies, and then maybe your sons can do those things ☺️🫶 "

thoughts on thistle and yaad's dynamic that i vomited in the tags of another post but will now try to articulate here: they're not actually family, or at least they shouldn't be. not in a conventional sense anyway. framing them as uncle and nephew (even in a non-literal, silly fantasy world way) rides more on technicality than anything concrete.
what i mean by this is yaad calls thistle by name and says he and delgal were raised "like" brothers. he talks about thistle like he's an outsider imposing himself into the melinis' space, and it's clear that thistle was never legitimized as a member of the family. for thistle's part, though we don't know how he would treat yaad pre-demon brainrot, it's safe to assume based on the way he punishes him—turning him into a doll—and how little is shown in the way of any sort of relationship between them that thistle only cares* about yaad as an extension of delgal (otherwise i'd expect something like kabru and milsiril, because it's not like another complicated interspecies family dynamic would be out of place, yet there's next to nothing on them even in bonus content, just their scant interactions in the main story).
in essence, they're strangers to one another. thistle's desperation to preserve the illusion of a family, a model where he doesn't even fit, was the snare they were caught in for the past thousand years of stasis. yaad-as-nephew is a prop to uphold that illusion, and thistle is playing a role he's unfit to play. in the context of post-canon interactions, attempting to reconstruct that facade would only be a reenactment of trauma for them both (in a deeply compelling way i'd love to watch unfold, tbh), as that "uncle and nephew" framing places thistle in an implicit position of power over someone he's already traumatized through misuse of authority in the past, a role which also perpetuates his adultification and yaad's infantilization in turn. it'd mostly be an obstacle to any real connection.
best to burn the melini family bridge, i think, and if there's still anything salvageable left in the rubble, let something different supplant it.

I decided to start a oneshot of all the head counsellors having a party at cabin 12 set sometime after TLO but before Percy dissapears.
And I have a scene where mid way through the younger counsellors are sent away (Connor, Damien, Chiara and possibly Lou?) and it's just the older counsellors (Percy, Annabeth, Pollux, Travis, Katie, Drew, Nyssa, Jake, Clarisse and Chris because Clarisse invited him)
And now i'm wondering how old are Nico and Will?
Cause the wiki says Nico is 14 and Will is 16? (why does that age gap look so odd to me? I know its only two years but 14 just feels younger) but those numbers just feel off to me? Is Nico canonically 14?

What are you going to do, Cassandra? Pay him in exposure (to the elements)?
If you want to throw a coin to your artist, you can do so over at Patreon and society6. You'll get the comics early, get regular sneak peeks, and maybe get some cups or shirts that way too.

I've been getting a few asks about this recently but---
"Why don't you write for post-prison Spencer?"
Because post-prison Spencer is too much like my father and I feel really weird about writing someone that shares too many similarities to an actual person in my life, whom I am related to :DD
I'm fine with, and love, writing for younger Spencer because he's essentially a different character-- he's more like me, and therefore easier to write for and imagine

I totally agree with the general consensus that Ringo provided a lot of emotional support and coolheadedness to the other beatles to the point where they'd have probably killed each other without him but I do also wonder sometimes how much of that is being supernaturally patient and easygoing and how much of it is Ringo just having a tumultuous and isolated childhood where he was never taught to recognize and assert his own emotional needs so he became a blank slate on which others could process their emotions
(And tbh I also wonder how an inability to access or assert his feelings may have contributed to his tendency to process pain by numbing himself and the pretty shitty way he treated women)

Do you think you'll chronicle any further runs after you finish with Croissant? I'd be interested to see your take on things that they didn't encounter, like the Dark Urge and Companion Minthara
Probably not! I've loved making the Croissant comics, but it's been a huge undertaking and it's been basically the only thing I've drawn for months now. I don't know if I'd be ready to document an entire run a second time, BUT there's definitely the opportunity for some drawings/one-offs for any future runs I might do.

RUBEN TREVELYAN ☙ third son of house trevelyan of ostwick
Dear Lady Montilyet, I have little time to spare away from my duties so I'm just going to be blunt. My younger brother can be as stubborn as a ram when he wants to be, both him and my sister take after our father's side of the family, you see? They never really followed the family's traditions and while he, unlike Freya, didn't outright disown the Maker I struggle to see how could he accept to play any role in this he didn't choose for himself. I urgently advise you to find a way to tame him that doesn't involve trying to boss him around. I know for a fact that would be a losing battle.
All my best, Brendan Trevelyan.

I know that Wild Kratts is one of those shows where the main [human] characters don't age despite it still being a quasi-continuity driven show, but it does admittedly make me sad that the WK kids from the earlier seasons are now relegated to (presumably permanent) background cameos because of this.

Bez krwi nie ma wampira. Jest to substancja, która decyduje o jego istnieniu, podobnie jak o istnieniu człowieka.
Without blood there is no vampire. It is this substance which determines his existence, just as it does the existence of a human.
