I got a couple of asks on how I did the text transition in this set. I'm going to explain as best as I can (with image references).
*Disclaimer: this assumes you have a basic understanding of giffing with video timeline, and keyframes. If you're new to keyframes, check out this tutorial by @userpeggycarter before proceeding.
Step 1: Go through, make your gif, color and all that jazz. if you're not familiar with giffing and need a guide, check this one out by @cal-kestis. Be mindful of the number of frames you have, as it is extremely important when keyframing begins. Make sure you have an even number of frames, or you will have an uneven transition. For this gif I'm at 60 frames total, and I'd be careful exceeding 70, as if you need to go back and delete... It just sucks, so be mindful! You'll see my gif and coloring under a group I titled "base" - and I highly recommend putting your gif/coloring/etc. into groups, as it will make the timeline a bit cleaner, and it's a little easier to find everything you need. But when you're done, you should be here:
*Quick note 1: Make sure your gif is in 8-bit mode. If you aren't familiar with bit modes, that is a tutorial for another time. For now, you can change it here:
Step 2.1: Pick your font/placement/etc. I really recommend being 100% on whatever you pick, along with the size. I've encountered problems when I move the font after the fact with alignment, so it's best to look your gif over to ensure you're satisfied. For this set, I went with Figtree, placed dead center.
I want to add to this by saying, thus far, I have found that white is the only color that works for this. I'm playing around with some other options, but black is 100% a no go. If you find a way to get that working, let me know. I'll amend this tutorial.
Photo of text settings, along with where you should be now.
Step 2.2: Since we're transitioning into a new set of words/text, you need to get that text ready as well. Shorten the length of time the first piece of text runs to halfway (I have 60 frames, so I cut it to 30).
Step 2.3: Duplicate your text layer, type your other text. The two texts should show for length of time, as you have an even number of frames, meaning you can divide by 2. Move it over to the end of where the previous text ends. If that makes no sense, it should look like the below: (again, folder for the typography to know where to reference. I have a small organization addiction so.. creator's choice)
*Quick note 2: I do not recommend changing to a new font or size with this, it won't look quite right. Of course, experiment away! This is just a small caution based on my own experimentation.
Now, to get to the actual fun part...
Step 3.1: Duplicate the first text layer. For this gif, it's the one that says "it didn't change anything". Once you duplicate it, you'll be turning it into a smart object. This is so the filter we apply works. Repeat for the second text layer. Lil gif below:
Quick note 3: I recommend going one text bit at a time, and also would tell you to put each typography layer into its own folder. This is really important for later, so doing it earlier is better.
Step 3.2: We will now apply the filter. To do this, you're going to click the smart object version of our text, then go to Filter → Stylize → Wind. For the gifset I made, I used Method → Blast and Direction → From the Right. Click "OK" and the filter will apply. Duplicate this for the other text layer.
Step 4: We now begin the keyframing. I highly recommend the rule of 0.3, which is when your transitions are over the span of multiples of 3 (i.e. if you start at frame 1 with 100% opacity, frame 3 will be at 0%). We'll be doing 6 frames from 100% to 0%, and vice versa, for this transition. This was the best time I found for this transition, but it's a matter of preference. Just follow that rule of 3.
Step 4.1: Click the smart layer of the text we made on the timeline, then click the little arrow on the left of the name of the layer. You'll see this:
See the little clock next to Opacity? Click it, and you get this lovely little yellow diamond. This is how we control the visibility of the Wind layer. It will start at 100%, keep it there.
Click the arrow on the right of the play button 6 times (aka get to the 6th frame), click the stopwatch again. While on this frame, and the yellow diamond clicked, change the opacity of the Wind layer to 0% It'll look like this:
You will repeat this, in reverse, at the end of the text layer.
Quick note 4: Sometimes, Photoshop is moody. To get the diamond on frame 30 (or whatever frame # the end of your text layer is), put it on the frame prior. You can then nudge that diamond over 1 frame. See below:
Repeat the process for the other text layer.
Step 5: We're basically done! Change your gif from video timeline to frames, maybe do a quick play through to make sure all is well.
Quick note 4 (it's the last one I promise): I have heard from many that when they work with keyframes, they end up with duplicate frames. I, personally, have not encountered this issue. I do not know if it is because of the version of Photoshop others are using, PC vs. Mac, or some other secret third thing. I recommend that, when you check your gif, verify if there are duplicate frames. The keyframe tutorial I linked earlier goes into further detail, and here is another lovely explanation from Nik, the master of all things keyframe transitions.
Step 5.1: Export, and give yourself a high five because you deserve it.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out! I'll try to clarify anything if needed. Happy giffing!

Dear author, I’m so sorry that someone plagiarised your work especially since you work so hard on your stories 💔😞
We want to help the plagiarised book get taken down so can you please share the link?
If enough people report, the fanfiction site admins will finally listen and take down the plagiarised book, instead of the plagiarism claim being buried.
I hope this issue gets resolved quickly and I hope you have a better day.
UPDATE! Based on this and that and also this.
Thank you, anon. I appreciate your words, but as I stated in one of my previous posts, Wattpad reports are finicky. I believe at this point, we're at day thirteen of dealing with this plagiarizer and day four of it being public and yet despite it all, the plagiarizer has still yet to budge.
So, I thought I'd give another update and give the information we discovered in our findings. As to what we know is copied and from who. Keep in mind, one of these four copies stories has already been taken down and done with. I'll specify which in a moment.
Before I proceed, if you happen to be one of the original writers mentioned in this post and you want your portion removed from this post for whatever reason, let me know. I do not want to upset anyone, except the plagiarizer. At this point in time, I care little for their feelings on the matter when they've had plenty of time to make things right.
The plagiarizer: Kristynaka1
FIRST.
Obviously, the first story that was discovered was mine, with all the information linked in the posts at the very top. I was made aware of this by the inbox from a kind reader. Ever since then, I've been dealing with this plagiarizer.
My mutuals and I found it weird that somehow, the plagiarizer had relatively good grammar with few mistakes in the story. Yet every little note or message they sent, had many spelling mistakes and was sometimes difficult to read. It was inconsistent and strange, and we couldn't make sense of it until we had a theory which some readers in the comments here have already suggested. We theorize that the plagiarizer began to use AI.
Of course, we can't prove this but how else would a user who can't format and type proper messages be able to write whole paragraphs that are actually legible and understandable?
ChatGPT was available to the public sometime in 2022. Before 2022, many of their "stories" were copy and pastes from Tumblr. After 2022, there were differences in the copied stories that made it harder to find the original story and connect it to the original writer. Differences in writing that I doubt the plagiarizer wrote themselves if we go by their messages like:
So yeah. Onto the evidence.
SECOND.
After a few days, one of my mutuals began to suggest searching for the origins of other stories as they doubted any of the posts belonged to the plagiarizer. Low and behold, we found three others. The first of which belonged to @monst and their post. Just by comparing the first paragraph was enough to confirm that.
I won't go into too much detail as the links pretty much say all you need when you actually look at the evidence.
THIRD.
Not even an hour later, we found the second copied story from that oneshot book. Thankfully, there were only two stories there, so there aren't any more copied parts from that series they claim is theirs. The original is @ppsycho and their post. This one again looks like a direct copy, even the image is the same.
FOURTH.
This is the one that was already deleted, thankfully. So there is not many good screenshots I can present, except one before it was gone. So the original writer is @mint-yooxgi and their post.
Here is the only screenshot I have of the wattpad version, just to showcase that it did in fact exist, and it was copied.
So yeah, that's everything for now. If you check out the plagiarizer's profile and recognize the other stories I did not name, please let me know. We thought we found one of them on Quotev, but it wasn't.
Please continue commenting discouragements and reporting the account!
I think I'll leave this off with something I typed last night in a chat:
In whatever way this ends, know that it will end badly for the plagiarizer. They can choose to ignore, but that won't make everything go away. People will remember, I will remember. If they go radio silent and try to forget everything but keep the stories up, comments will still be there. If they try to delete the comments, new comments will just be made. The comments will serve as warnings to others that might stumble across their account, and it will immediately make them click off the account or story because no one wants to read a plagiarized story. The account we see now will just be empty of real readers, so it will remain a miserable little place where each comment will serve as a reminder as to why plagiarism is bad.
Even if they do decide to delete and make another account yet again, whether they decide to copy the same stories they did before or pick entirely new writers to prey upon, it doesn't matter. Readers will either recognize them from before or new readers will notice the plagiarism taking place. It doesn't matter what they do. They will be found and dealt with in some way, shape, or form.
I hope those two or so years of small internet fame were worth it while they lasted.

“How do I know if my story needs work or if I’m just being hard on myself?”
As I sit here accepting the fact that at 70k words into Eternal Night’s sequel while waiting for my editor for Eternal Night itself, that I have made an error in my plot.
Disclaimer: This is not universal and the writing experience is incredibly diverse. Figuring this out also takes some time and building up your self-confidence as an author so you can learn to separate “this is awful (when it’s not)” and “this is ok (but it can be better)” and “this isn’t working (but it is salvageable).”
—
When I wrote my first novel (unpublished, sadly), years ago, I would receive feedback all over the chapters and physically have to open other windows to block off parts of the screen on my laptop to slow-drip the feedback because I couldn’t handle constructive criticism all at once. I had my betas color-code their commentary so I could see before I read any of it that it wasn’t all negative. It took me thrice as long as it does today to get through a beta’s feedback because I got so nervous and anxious about what they would say.
The main thing I learned was this: They’re usually right, when it’s not just being mean (and even then, it’s rarely flat out mean), and that whatever criticisms they have of my characters and plot choices is not criticism of myself.
It did take time.
But now I can get feedback from betas and even when I hear “I’d DNF this shit right now unless you delete this,” I take a step back, examine if this one little detail is really that important, and fix it. No emotional turmoil and panic attack needed. I can also hear “I didn’t like it” without heartbreak. Can’t please everyone.
The only time I freak out is when I'm told "this won't need massive edits" followed up by, in the manuscript, "I'd DNF this shit right now". Which happened. And did not, in fact, require a massive rewrite to fix.
So.
What might be some issues with your story and why it “isn’t working”.
1. Your protagonist is not active enough in the story
You’ve picked your protagonist, but it’s every other character that has more to do, more to say, more choices to make, and they’re just along for the ride, yet you are now anchored to this character’s story because they’re the protagonist. You can either swap focus characters, or rework your story to give them more agency. Figure out why this character, above any other, is your hero.
2. Your pacing is too slow
Even if you have a “lazy river” style story where the vibes and marinating in the world is more important than a breakneck plot, slow pacing isn’t just “how fast the story moves” it’s “how clearly is the story told,” meaning if you divert the story to a side quest, or spend too long on something that sure is fluffy or romantic or funny, but it adds nothing to the characters because it’s redundant, doesn’t advance the plot, doesn’t give us more about the world that actually matters to the themes, then you may have lost focus of the story and should consider deleting it, or editing important elements into the scenes so they can pull double-duty and serve a more active purpose.
3. Youve lost the main argument of your narrative
Sometimes even the best of outlines and the clearest plans derail. Characters don’t cooperate and while we see where it goes, we end up getting hung up on how this one really cool scene or argument or one-liner just has to be in the story, without realizing that doing so sacrifices what you set out to accomplish. Personally I think sticking to your outline with biblical determination doesn’t allow for new ideas during the writing process, but if you find yourself down the line of “how did we get here, this isn’t what I wanted” you can always save the scenes in another document to reuse later, in this WIP or another in the future.
4. You’re spending too long on one element
Even if the thing started out really cool, whether it’s a rich fantasy pit stop for your characters or a conversation two characters must have, sometimes scenes and ideas extend long past their prime. You might have characters stuck in one location for 2 or 3 chapters longer than necessary trying to make it perfect or stuff in all these details or make it overcomplicated, when the rest of the story sits impatiently on the sidelines for them to move on. Figure out the most important reasons for this element to exist, take a step back, and whittle away until the fat is cut.
5. You’ve given a side character too much screentime
New characters are fun and exciting! But they can take over the story when they’re not meant to, robbing agency from your core characters to leave them sitting with nothing to do while the new guy handles everything. You might end up having to drag your core characters along behind them, tossing them lines of dialogue and side tasks to do because you ran out of plot to delegate with one character hogging it all (which is the issue I ran into with the above mentioned WIP). Not talking about a new villain or a new love interest, I mean a supporting character who is supposed to support the main characters.
—
As for figuring out the difference between “this is awful and I’m a bad writer” and “this element isn’t working” try pretending the book was written by somebody else and you’re giving them constructive criticism.
If you can come up with a reason for why it’s not working that doesn’t insult the writer, it’s probably the latter. As in, “This element isn’t working… because it’s gone on too long and the conversation has become cyclical and tiring.” Not “this element isn’t working because it’s bad.”
Why is it bad?
“This conversation is awkward because…. There’s not enough movement between characters and the dialogue is really stiff.”
“This fight scene is bad because….I don’t have enough dynamic action, enough juicy verbs, or full use of the stage I’ve set.”
“This romantic scene is bad because…. It’s taking place at the wrong time in the story. I want to keep it, but this character isn’t ready for it yet, and the vibe is all wrong now because they’re out-of-character.”
“This argument is bad because…. It didn’t have proper build-up and the sudden shouting match is not reflective of their characters. They’re too angry, and it got out of hand quickly. Or I’m not conveying the root of their aggression.”
—
There aren’t very many bad ideas, just bad execution. “Only rational people can think they’re crazy. Crazy people think they’re sane,” applies to writing, too.
I just read a fanfic recently where, for every fight scene, I could tell action was not the writer’s strong suit. They leaned really heavily on a crutch of specific injuries for their characters, the same unusual spot getting hit over and over again, and fights that dragged on for too long being unintentionally stagnant. The rest of the fic was great, though, and while the fights weren’t the best, I understood that the author was trying, and I kept reading for the good stuff. One day they will be better.
In my experience beta reading, it’s the cocky authors who send me an unedited manuscript and tell me to be kind (because they can’t take criticism), that they know it’s perfect they just want an outside opinion (they don’t want the truth, they want what will make them feel good), that they know it’s going to make them a lot of money and everyone will love it (they haven’t dedicated proper time and effort into researching marketing, target audiences, or current trends)—these are the truly bad authors. Not just bad at writing, but bad at taking feedback, are bullies when you point out flaws in their story, and cheap, too.
The best story I have received to date was where the author didn’t preempt with a self-deprecating deluge of “it’s probably terrible you know but here it is anyway” or “this is perfect and I’m super confident you’re going to love it”.
It was something like, “This is my first book and I know it has flaws and I’m nervous but I had a lot of fun doing it”.
And yeah, it needed work, but the bones of something great were there. So give yourself some credit, yeah?

Hi, guys. It's me, Barlowe.
No fun aesthetics, none of that. We're addressing the election today.
I never thought I'd be political on my blog—and, in fact, avoided it except for where I really wanted to get things out to everyone, like Project 2025—but circumstances have forced me to step up.
For those who want to see my actual Writeblr intro, you can find it here. This post is getting pinned to my blog for a while.
So, hi. Barlowe here.
I'm an autistic lesbian with health issues I'm too poor to treat.
I'm currently in a relationship with a Mexican-American woman.
My older sister, although we don't really get along, is trans.
I do not care about my relationship with her. What matters is that she is in legitimate danger. Because of the results of the election.
My girlfriend? She's in danger, too. She had people yell and spit at and shove her during Trump's first term, and she had little to nobody she could turn to for help. Like me, she's chock-full of struggles and disabilities. So much so that I almost want to say she's had it even worse than me in that regard.
But I won't be comparing struggles here; that's not the point.
My little sister is still a teenager. She lives in Florida.
As a 13-year-old, she had people call her a slut for wearing a tank top.
A tank top.
It's Florida. It's hot.
She was 13.
Do you know the amount of rage I felt when I heard that?
I'm a nonviolent af grown-ass adult and I wanted to track down those kids to beat them tf up. I wanted to teach them a lesson to never treat my little sister like that again.
But they aren't the source of the problem, do you know that?
The source of the problem is their parents. The media. The internet, and echo chambers full of disgusting, sexist pigs who reduce women—and girls—to nothing more than sex objects for men.
“Grab 'em by the pussy.”
Did we all forget that?
Did we all forget how disgusting that pathetic excuse for a man is?
Did we ignore all of his crimes, all of the things he's done?
Why? Because Harris is a black woman? Because she's mixed? Because she's flawed? Because she didn't deserve to win?
Listen to me.
That's not good enough.
Maybe she didn't deserve to win. But do you know what?
Nor did Trump.
Trump deserves to be IN JAIL.
He's racist, he's xenophobic, he's sexist, a rapist, a homophobe, a convicted felon, and so, so much more.
And yet here we are.
How did millions of people vote a man like that into office?
I would've gone running for the hills at just ONE of those things?
... but that's not the point.
We're here now, except... things aren't quite as clear-cut as we've been led to believe.
There's an interesting saying that goes something like:
“People most often expect from others what they know of themselves.”
And what did Trump most love screaming at the hills?
That the votes of 2020 were rigged.
And he said to “find votes”.
Well, it looks like he found them.
Or, at the very least, he's gotten rid of Democratic ones.
There were bomb threats called in on democratic-leaning polling locations, machines “didn't recognize” ballots, democratic ballots were rejected for inane reasons, and ballots were burned.
Do you think a man so obsessed with so-called “rigging” wouldn't engage in it himself? Whether he truly believed it or not—which, it's been proven that he didn't, and only claimed so to rile up his cultish followers, causing January 6th—who's to say he wouldn't do it himself to “even out the playing field” so to speak? Who's to say a man like him wouldn't claim election fraud 4 years in advance just to pull the wool over all of our collective eyes later?
I'm not saying that he hasn't won.
But I am saying it's not goddamn over.
There's petitions you can sign demanding for recounts [EDIT: THEY DELETED THE LAST ONE!!!! THIS IS A REPLACEMENT!!!]. You can contact Harris to beg her to not take this lying down. You can—and SHOULD—contact the White House directly.
Listen to me.
Check out Project 2025.
My sweet, lovely girlfriend has been shoved and verbally abused—harassed into literal agoraphobia that she's already slipping back into just because of the election's results—by people who ate up the hateful rhetoric of the Right.
She lives in a Blue State.
Even while my trans sister was male-presenting, she was treated differently—coldly—before she cut her hair short again. Suddenly, people would smile at her on the streets again.
She's since started transitioning, and what about now?
My little sister was physically bullied while she lived in Texas.
They, too, are lucky I was never around for that.
Now, in Florida, I doubt she fares much better.
My friend, who's a teacher in Texas, has been forced to publish under a pseudonym and try their complete and utter best to hide their writing so they're not fired for her job. Why?
Because the MC's nonbinary.
My friend is terrified for their son, growing up in a world like this. They're terrified to have another kid—which they want—because 'what if it's a daughter?' They don't want to bring a girl into a world like this.
And they don't want to risk a pregnancy that can end their life.
People all across the states are being forced to give birth to the children of their rapists... or die because of complications in the womb.
Babies are being forced to die slowly in the womb rather than humanely, through “abortion”, after it's clear they're dying, but “still have a heartbeat.”
Queer folk, PoC, and immigrants have been targeted and live in fear for their lives. They deal with VERY real violence and harassment, even if you don't see it yourself.
This is all the lasting effects of Trump's first term as president.
He and his followers spread a hateful rhetoric strongly aligning with Hitler's before the man took over. They fearmonger and sell out minorities as the reason everything's wrong in this country.
They make minorities a scapegoat, and make them into targets.
Regardless of the actual results of the election, these so-called “victories” for the Right only embolden the bigots to act more and more egregiously.
It doesn't matter if you're “one of the good ones”. It doesn't matter if “most Republicans aren't like that”. It doesn't matter what you think.
What matters is reality.
And reality is: a Trump victory means victory for the extremists.
They ran with it the first time.
What do you think they're going to do with it this time?
This all isn't to sound doomeristic, though—I think we still have a chance. I think Trump's rigged this thing for a reason. I think we need to push for this stuff to be exposed.
But it's going to take everything we have, guys.
Sure, maybe Harris isn't perfect. She's questionable af in a LOT of places, and I personally hate her stances on Palestine. I'm sure most of all of us do. But, do you really think Trump will be any kinder?
Do you really care to doom everyone else off of the miniscule chance that he'll decide to help them?
Listen: Harris isn't trying to turn the States into the next fascist dictatorship. Trump is. Harris isn't showing EVERY single “preparing for a genocide” red flag. Trump. IS.
Petition for recounts. Tell Harris not to give up.
And contact the White House telling them this is not acceptable.
Complain about the bomb threats. Complain about the lost ballots. Complain about the tampered-with ballots. Complain about the burned ballots, complain about the rejected ballots, and don't stop fighting tooth-and-nail like Trump kicked and screamed after the 2020 election.
Don't give up. It's not too late.
And, to my followers?
Let me make this abundantly clear.
If any of you voted for Trump? If any of you wanted him to win, or for Harris to lose?
Then get the fuck off my blog.
I don't give a shit what kind of relationship we've had in the past, or if you liked my writing, or any of that.
A loss for Harris is a win for Trump—it's that simple.
You aren't morally superior for choosing not to vote for Harris no matter WHAT reason you had for it. You aren't morally superior for finding her dubious, for hating her views on Palestine, or for refraining from choosing either of the two evils.
You're a coward.
An enabler, comforting yourself by telling yourself “at least you didn't have a hand in {whatever turned you against her}”.
Sure, you didn't kill the sheep.
But you left the gates open for the wolves.
And that makes you responsible for their deaths.
You knew the risks of leaving the gate open. But you did it anyway.
And, to any of you who voted for Trump?
I want you to know I HATE you.
No matter what, no matter who, no matter WHY.
I consider you all equally responsible for anything and everything that happens as a result of his presidency if it comes to be.
It isn't “just politics”.
It isn't something you can just wipe your hands clean of.
Maybe you don't have to face the consequences for the things that come from this, but I, the people I love, and countless others do.
It's not “just politics”.
It's our fucking lives.
And I hope, one of these days, you learn to regret it as much as the rest of us.
So, to those of you who left the gate open?
Do yourself a favor.
Get the fuck off my blog before I find out you did.

Rick and Morty if Autism Speaks and Autism Moms focus-grouped it to death:
Rick: Everyone, I have a terrible confession to make. Summer [scrolling through her phone]: Sure, Grandpa Rick. How many planets did you blow up today? Rick: No, Summer, it's much worse than that. I... [sighs and sticks his hands in his pockets] I just got back from the doctor's office. I...I have autism. [The entire family gasps in shock. Summer drops her phone. Morty's hands fly to his mouth.] Beth: No! Rick! Why didn't you ever tell us? Rick: I didn't know, sweetie. Bird Person noticed that I'd been flapping my hands a lot and said, "Mubba rubba nub nub," which means, "I'm going to give you a referral for an autism diagnosis." I just got back from the clinic. I'll be honest with you--when the word "autism" came out of the doctor's mouth, I couldn't decide if I wanted to hide the truth from you or crash my ship directly into the building, killing me instantly. [Jerry stares at him. Summer starts sobbing. Beth glances at Morty with horror and disbelief.] Beth: But--what about Morty? He flaps his hands sometimes, too. Do you think that--maybe--oh God, I don't even want to say it-- Rick [looking at her sadly]: I don't know, sweetie. Autism is a genetic disease, and it's not looking good. Morty: No! NO! Why, Rick? This is the worst thing you've ever done! Rick: I'm sorry, buddy. I wish I could go back in time and delete the autism from my genes. Summer [sobbing]: You've ruined our family! I always knew I was the one normal child, and now you've just confirmed it! Beth: I'm sorry, Morty, but I won't be able to look at you the same way again. I knew there was a reason I favored Summer all these years. And Rick, well--I don't know if you can keep living here. Our budget is already tight without you spending $500 a month on math textbooks and model train sets. Jerry: Wait, hang on. If I can get meta here for a second--doesn't Dan Harmon play Bird Person? And isn't he, you know...in that way? Rick: Autistic? [Beth and Summer gasp at the sound of the word.] I don't know, let me check. [He opens a portal and disappears, then returns a few seconds later, his eyes heavy with sadness.] Yes. Dan Harmon is autistic, which means...Bird Person is autistic, too. I'm sorry. [The entire room is silent.] Beth: Well...at least you'll be able to get together now. I know you autistics can't date normal people. Summer: Autistics can't date anyone, period. Sorry, Morty, but I guess Jessica and Bruce Chutback both dodged a bullet. [Morty bursts into tears. Beth rubs his shoulder.] Beth: It's okay, honey. Look at it this way--you'll be able to go on lots of adventures with Grandpa since we have to separate both of you from the general population. Jerry: And "different" doesn't mean "worse." I mean, in this case, it absolutely does, but it doesn't mean that in other contexts. Morty: I'm sorry that I'm burdening everyone. [glances up] Hey, um, Rick--maybe you can find a cure, right? [smiles weakly] Some planet out there must've found a cure for autism by now, right? Rick [forces a smile]: You've got it, buddy. I'm sure there's a universe out there that's...found a cure for this tragic disease. [Everyone looks silently down at the table. Morty stands up.] Morty: I'm going to sit in my room for a while. Let me know when you've decided if you're going to keep me or put me up for adoption. Beth: We'll let you know, honey. [Morty walks upstairs. The rest of the family turns to Rick, who sighs.] Rick: Well...I guess I'll go to the garage. The noise-cancelling walls will protect you from the sounds of my incessant stimming and hand-flapping. I know you don't want me back in the house, so you can turn my room into extra storage space. Jerry can even turn it into a man cave if he wants. I don't care if he does. I don't care about anything anymore. Summer: Neither do we, Rick. Neither do we... [Rick walks into the garage and sits quietly on the stool. After a few minutes of silence, he hesitates, then reaches inside his coat and applies a sticker to his ship. The camera zooms in to reveal a puzzle piece that reads Autistics On Board.]

FOP Sideblog Update - Sept. 2024
Hi! This lovely ol' sideblog's been tidied up in light of A New Wish! I have a new AU for New Wish works. Let's talk about it!
Main blog - @fountainpenguin
My FFN - My AO3
Sideblog masterpost
Housekeeping Updates
- New avatar - @zachbrightside and I updated our FOP sonas. Tossed the headcanon'd honorary pixie hat on mine! :) Shout-out to that one kid in "School of Crock" who wore this hat with no explanation. And squared my gal's wings! Experimented with pink and purple hair options, but I like the brown too much to change.
- Fixed all broken masterpost links - Checked 3 or 4 times, so let me know if you find something wrong.
- Added things to the masterpost that weren't there (Ex: Art section)
- Combed through every post and changed the bullet point system so they're easier to read, following format update from several years ago that condensed the spacing between bulleted items.
-> As part of this, I've used indents and dashes in place of bullets in many posts. I've also added periods on otherwise blank lines to force blank space, as the blank space is another thing we lost during that format update.
-> This is so posts will look better on the dashboard. The dots may seem odd when viewed directly on the blog, but it definitely makes it easier to not lose my place while editing long posts. Also, they should be more readable now than they would be if they're reblogged to others' dashboards without this change.
- I combed through the short bios and long profiles and divided paragraphs more. There were many bulky paragraphs that have now been divided in a way that should make posts - especially these big profiles - easier to read.
-> Cleaned the "Appearances" sections of the long profiles. They used to list each 'fic that character is in, but now they have a labeled AO3 link to works written by me that include that character. Sleek, clean, and automatically updates!
- Shout-out to me having Dale Dimmadome already down as one of H.P. and Sanderson's past godkids 5+ years ago. I knew that was my headcanon, but I did not remember that was on his profile and I'm glad it was, haha... oh no. I don't know what my plan is for that in light of New Wish, but I'll figure it out.
- Changed posts that called my canon Riddleverse Classic to say Cloudlands AU, since that's the new name for my series. Left the name Riddleverse for posts that encompass multiple AUs.
-> Updated my Icebreaker post with this and other new info
- Deleted any posts tagged as "Delete later"
- I have a lot of long profiles and other posts saved to my drafts from years ago. Once Tumblr shifted to the new format (including with the queue), it became so distressing and ever-changing that I struggled a lot to find my footing.
Ex: They took away line dividers, which I thought was frustrating since I used those on my long posts and found them helpful. I was holding out hope they'd return. - Some posts (like my wing refs and the giant 20k-word class overviews) kept getting flagged if I edited them, and I was worried I'd lose my stuff or have the account deleted - Back then, the queue would only tell me which day of the week something was posting, not which month or day. It was just overwhelming to create a schedule or keep track of my stuff, so I took a break from Tumblr in general.
These days, I'm much more comfortable with the editor and my queue is now more specific about deadlines. I look forward to posting here again!
I won't be on a schedule, and the big character profiles do take a lot out of me, but my plan back in the day was to release one a month. Might be able to get to there! If not, maybe the short bios.
Future of this FOP Sideblog
- More worldbuilding posts! I let this blog sit a long time because I felt like I'd said all my worldbuilding and the only thing to do now was profiles and bios (which I was reluctant to prioritize when I felt "behind" in my 'fics).
However, I found some things I'd never moved to this blog, such as my notes on aging. I'd like to post that and others I found.
- No longer hesitant about sharing stuff for "weird" characters or OCs. I had a post about celebrity kids (Poof's age and younger) that I never posted because I didn't think anyone would care about my headcanons for Simon Sparklefield (who only appears in one obscure episode I don't count as fully canon anyway) or Billy Crystal Ball (also obscure) but... Hey, that's why you're here, isn't it? So let's talk celebrities!
In other words, I'd like to bring this blog back as the unapologetic place to share my FOP things. We have references to canon characters and talk of OCs (like Hadley, Emery, Whistle, Soren, China, Anti-Saffron, Kalysta, Iris, Idona... List goes on.)
- This blog will have more polished fanart than the doodles from my main blog
- Polished 'fic cover images will be reblogged here. By this, I mean the posts I do on my main blog that outline what to expect from a 'fic. I won't reblog my general chapter announcements; I don't want to flood this blog with those.
- 130 Reasons Why I'm Fairy Trash's cover will be reblogged, but the posts for individual trains won't be. - Existing cover images will get new, polished posts for their 'fics before I reblog them here.
- I went through the blog and added the tag "Cloudlands AU" to many posts, apart from a few I'm still hesitant to edit (or where it didn't seem worth noting). Cloudlands AU refers to my lore for the 11 seasons of the main series (i.e. including the "Oh Yeah!" shorts), and this is what my sideblog was meant for.
- The reason for this new tag is to separate it from City Lights AU: my new AO3 series for works about New Wish. These works are not compliant with Cloudlands AU, which was designed years ago.
Ex: Peri and Irep will get a short bio on this blogged tagged as City Lights AU to explain what we're setting up for their characters over there, distinct from the existing short bio for Poof and Foop in Cloudlands AU (who are very well established in their arcs). In other words, I'm not rewriting Cloudlands AU canon to fit with A New Wish, but I still want to write works for New Wish. Expect bios and art for Hazel and Dev here someday (and others).
The next thing I post will be Hadley's full character profile (now with updates that are compliant with A New Wish).
After that, I'll reblog my Cloudlands AU and City Lights AU guides to this blog so they'll be under their tags and on the masterlist.
When that's all done, I'd like to knock out full character profiles for Dale, Dev, and Hazel when I can (in addition to finishing my drafts for Cosmo, Wanda, Poof, and Foop). Long, slow process, but it would be cool to have those things done by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Feeling decent about my idea for Hazel's birthdate. I have nice options for Dev, but no commitment until Zach and I nail down where "Operation: Birthday Takeback" goes in our New Wish timeline. Enjoying the process so far! -> Dev's b-day is QUITE the toss-up between options like "National Day of Unplugging," "Plant a Lemon Tree Day," and the absolutely golden combo of "Pizza Party & Virtual Assistants Day." And perhaps others we've not investigated!
I think that's everything! Hopefully, this is the last "blog news" announcement we have for a while, and the blog can return to being a landing spot for fanart and story meta.
As always, the sideblog's Asks are closed as I want to maintain a consistent feel for this blog. You can reach out to my main blog (Askbox here) if you want to ask a worldbuilding question.
Additionally, I'm interested in following other people's worldbuilding / AUs so I can engage more with the community, especially those passionate about FOP worldbuilding. -> I'm open to self-advertisement if you want to shoot me an Ask on my main blog telling me where I can find your work! -> I'd prefer to follow a blog that is primarily for FOP worldbuilding / art / 'fics (or subscribe to an AO3 series for FOP works), but I'm open to consideration if your blog is multi-fandom! My preference: Thoughtful takes on characters and world that dig deeper than just ship art / ship 'fics- Nothing against shipping, but I'm more interested in character analyses and worldbuilding. Bonus points for a focus on miserable children, Dale lemonade trauma, Pixies, or Timmy growing up to lose his memories and live an average human life. If you don't fit this, you can still recommend your AU and I'll check it out, but that's my wishlist :) Also, if there's anyone who makes Timmy/Molly content, you are my hero and should totally link me your work.
It's such an honor to see so many followers of this sideblog despite its long absence! To those of you interested in staying with me as we enter this next phase, thank you very much - it means a lot to me - and I hope you enjoy browsing!
And to anyone who's lost interest, thank you for spending time while you were here <3
One last note - My goal has always been to reblog others' fanart for my 'fics here, but most of them are still sitting in my drafts, unreblogged. I'll queue those up. I'm always delighted to receive gift art! Feel free to tag @riddledeep and I'll reblog it here! Same goes for gift 'fics, so don't hesitate to share!

Sunset Died - Wolff/Sekemoto
Own decisions

Later that evening. After Morgana had brought dinner to the table, Sam sat silently in front of his bowl for a moment. “Do I really have to go to school tomorrow?"/ ”Oh… No, of course you don't if you don't feel ready for it yet. But…maybe it would be nice for you to make a new friend and learn something”. Sam slowly pulled his chair a little closer. “I'll decide in the morning.”

A few minutes after the meal. “I'd like to use your laptop, if you don't mind. Don't worry, I won't access your medical stuff, I just want to check on old contacts"/ ‘was Cy able to answer your questions?’/ ‘mhm, the line is back up 24/7, he's checked everything again for security. we just haven't been contacted about it yet’/ ”Oh, that's wonderful. Yes, all right”.

That evening, Sam wanted a bedtime story. Morgana and her husband actually thought that he would want to sleep without it for the time being. But he seems to be coping with his grief in his own way. He doesn't cry, at least apparently not in the presence of the adults. His attention span didn't last very long, though, and he quickly fell asleep. “Hn, no wonder, that was a really stupid story. Good night…”.

As Morgana was about to go to bed, she noticed that there was a new painting on the easel. And it was completely finished. In a way, it made her a little proud, because Sam had apparently only learned to paint from watching and was therefore able to gather enough inspiration. But on the other hand, it made her a little sad. His family would never admire his later works.

Even though it was already quite late and Thornton's eyes were almost closing, he at least wanted to make a first attempt and see what had happened in his e-mail inbox since the disaster. “Holy shit, over 4000 emails. I can delete some of them, it's just advertising, information… what did I click on back then? Well, o.k., i have some catching up to do“.

Later that night. “What have you been doing all this time?"/ ‘Deleting unnecessary emails and giving an old colleague a sign of life from me, like my cousin Dwayne…’/ ‘You… You have a cousin?’/ ”Hard to believe, but yes. I haven't seen him for ages, I don't know how he got my e-mail address. Anyway, he wanted to know if everything was OK and if we wanted to see each other again sometime…phh“.

“How long ago was the email?"/ ”A few days before everything here was dead. I had so much to do at the time and hadn't checked my emails at all… The last time I saw him was when I was 6 or 7, we never had much to do with each other…"/ ‘And yet you replied to him…’/ ”Well, at least to say hello. He sent me a family photo. His children look like little feral wolves"/ ‘hnhn, maybe they are wolves’/ ‘what nonsense… good night’.

It's the next morning. Morgana was about to check on Sam and was surprised to see that he was already up and standing in front of the closet. “hi, I thought you were still asleep"/ ‘No, I just wanted to get my things out for school…’/ ‘For… You want to go to school?’. He just nodded without looking at her.

“Yes, then… Then get dressed, I'll quickly make something for you to eat” / ‘You don't have to, I know where everything is…’. Without another word, he took his things out of the first drawer and disappeared outside into the bathroom.

After Sam had disappeared from the room with his clothes, Morgana looked out of the window for a moment. Then an important thought caught up with her again. She remembered Leighton's words. “The family chronicle. It's not really my style to rummage around in other people's things, but… I guess it's important.”.

Morgana literally rummaged through the things that belonged to Yumi. She didn't have very many clothes left, as most of them had been lost in the destruction of her house. But the few things she did find were all carefully folded, so it wasn't long before she came across something in the bottom left-hand drawer.

She felt something solid under one of the items of clothing and pulled it out of the drawer. Then it fell out of her hand briefly. “This must be it. I only have one problem… I can't speak Japanese, but I'm sure the Internet will help me.“.

A little later, Morgana went downstairs to the living room with the book. Sam was still eating breakfast. He saw her sit down at the desk and recognized what she was holding. “What do you want to do with it?"/ ‘Oh, I… I wanted to translate a few things for you, if I can manage it’/ ‘You don't have to translate it for me’.

Morgana looked at him a little questioningly. “Don't I have to?”. He shook his head. “When we sometimes couldn't sleep at night, Grandma would read it to me since I was very little. She showed me all the signs and told me what they meant"/ ‘really all of them?’/ ‘mhm…’/ ‘And you've memorized them all?’. He nodded again. “So… do you know what it all says?"/ ‘not everything yet’.

“Hm, I see. “/ “Dad told me to read it”. Morgana almost felt guilty. She looked at the book for a moment and then decided for herself not to proceed any further. “Of course, I didn't want to violate your privacy either. I just thought…"/ ”When I'm ready, I'll read it. And I can read it out loud to you then. But not today… And not tomorrow either.” Morgana switched her laptop off again. “All right. You're the boss, hn”.

Sam brought his keys into the kitchen. ("Unbelievable, I didn't know she taught him Japanese. Of course, it's his mother tongue and it wasn't out of the question that she taught him more. It would probably take me weeks or months to translate everything. Hm…I'm excited”.

just some stress vent
didn't put this in the Marketing Post™️ but I haven't closed my redbubble yet bc I literally can't. a fascinating 3-way intersection of my reported income, my tax status, and my doctor's office means it has to stay a technically viable source of income for the time being. the doctor is a sliding-scale clinic that currently treats me For Free. if that changes I literally will not be able to go, will lose my medication, and be even less stable than I am now. so even outside of the property tax thing - which I am NOT expecting to pay off the backs of stickers alone, I'm just trying to help lessen the blow to my household - I very much need the shop to take off so I can get some kind of foothold on financial independence. I need the stickers to do good so I can expand and make the kind of money that lets me pay bills AND afford health insurance so I can get some of my bigger issues addressed. redbubble has at least moved me into the no-fee tier (why? no one knows) and teepublic's changes haven't kicked me in the dick yet so I'm just kind of white-knuckling it until I can make the kind of changes I need to make. which is getting really old, if I'm being terribly honest. my partner put it best last year, in the middle of everything going to shit: "We always figure something out. But I'm really tired of having to figure things out. I kind of just want them to work."

Hello everyone that comes across this blog :D I'm Glitz, ( @glitzwashere | She/They/It ) welcome to my Bakugan BP Oblivion AU's dump blog! Where I either reblog stuff, ramble, actually post art (sometimes reblog from my main) or post a random incorrect quote I have saved in my notes because I spam the incorrect quotes generator too much.
This is my self indulgent passion project I have been brainstorming and working on for... quite a while now (4 years? pretty sure) and since I didn't do anything on my other blog dedicated for it I deleted it and went "might as well do something" so here we are now.
please note posts in this blog will include
A bunch of headcanons
My favourite ships
Oc x canon ships
ocs in general
Mentions of violence (incorrect generator loves those for some reason)
uh, swearing
Heavy themes (I will tag individual posts accordingly)
And a bunch of other stuff that you'll probably figure out later on
If you are going to harass me about any of the headcanons or ships then please kindly get off my blog and/or block me. I'm not dealing with that, I'm just trying to have fun here.
I made this cause if I don't dump my ideas I'm going to explode into a million pieces then die, but at the same time don't expect me to post much I am very inconsistent so uhhhh send help.
ALSO!!! I have this thing called character specific asks! They're nothing special but basically, you ask a question and I sort of role play the character you ask! I won't do it for all asks, but if you would like to do this just put Character Specific Ask: [insert character here] and ask away! Nothing weird though! (all of these will be based post-Oblivion so be wary)
Anyways I hope you all enjoy this little passion project blog, feel free to interact and send me asks or like anything really!! I'd be so happy to talk to you all about Oblivion!!

can i rant for bit cuz ugh why do all the men on dating apps suck?? i hate how some men really seem to fetishize plus size women. like when you're trying to talk with them and all they wanna talk about is sexual stuff from the get go 😡😤 like hello?!? im more than just my body?? ive never even met you dude. ive got a personality, interests, etc. like do these men think they're doing plus size women a favor by aggressively sexualizing them?
it honestly sucks so much. so in order to cope I've been fantasing about hotch 😏
like imagine dbf!hotch where he overhears you ranting about dating and the men on the apps and later tries to talk to you about it. he'd tell you that they're all boys and you need a man.after hearing how upset and objectified you feel he'd probably decide to actively pursue you. especially if you've had a will they-wont they thing going on.
i just really want him to seduce me and give me a reason to delete all my dating apps
❤️🔥
I'm so sorry this is so late but girlie I feel this so hard. I legit gave up on dating apps cuz it was just "let me see how big your tits are" "😜 wanna meet up and fuck?" Even if your profile says you're not looking for that, youre looking to date! I thought at one point I found someone who was chill and wanted to just go on a date but then 🧍 well, we won't get into that. All in all, ppl need to stop fucking fetishising fat ppl. It's dehumanising. Do we want to be desired sexually? Absolutely. But not just that tho. We want to be loved and accepted for who we are and how we look. I really hope that you do eventually find someone who doesn't just see you as a sex object, ❤️🔥 anon because you deserve it 💖💖
Dbf!Aaron Hotchner is sooooooooo🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭 OOOOOGH
He is fucking PISSED knowing you're being treated like this on dating apps. He thinks it's fucking disgusting that people see you as nothing but a fetish. He fucking adores you. He thinks you're funny, sweet, beautiful, kind and well, of course he thinks you're fucking sexy too. But knowing you're trying to deal with all this shit makes him angry.
So he does whatever he can to show that he's, first of all, into you very much so. But also that hes not after you just for "having a good fuck with a thicc girl". The thought of people treating you as less than human, just sexual organs because of your curves makes him fucking sickened. Man starts to rly make an effort to show he is interested in you. He tries even harder to make you smile and laugh, treats you to stuff, is extremely attentive if you ever vent to him. And he can see it's working, you've got a pep in your step, and you always have that adorable shy smile on your face whenever he talks to you or looks at you. Big fan of fixing a stand of your hair.
One day something changes, you come to him upset and frustrated and you show him the dating app. You vent about it to him all about the disingenuous guys on there only seeing you as a thicc chick to fuck so they can tick it off their bucket list. And so he hugs you close, kissing the top of your head and says he can't stand to see you so upset anymore. But he has something to say that could help.
You pull away, confused. And he's looking at you with so much tenderness your heart tightens. He smiles, brushing a stray tear from your cheek.
"Sweetheart, those stupid boys don't know what they're doing. They don't know how to treat a woman, how to make her feel loved and cared for and seen as more than just their body type. I... I want to know if you'll have me. Accept me to show you how you deserve to be treated."
You can barely string words together, it's cute. But he sees more tears again and he panics, thinking he's gone too far.
"I'm sorry, this was not appropriate. I-"
"Yes.. I- yes, I want you." You interrupt him. It makes him pause, staring at you for a moment as he studies your expression. You glance away, feeling shy again. "I only started using dating apps because I didn't think I'd ever get to be with you, Aaron..."
Oh, oh sweetheart. His heart is soaring and he pulls you close for a tight hug, swaying you gently.
"Sweetheart, you have me. I'm yours."
Needless to say you freed up a lotttttt of space on your phone getting rid of all the dating apps 🥰 plenty of storage for the incoming pics you and Aaron will take together from this point forward.

I don't know if your still taking requests if you aren't ignore/delete this 😅 I just really love your writing and wanted to shoot my shot
Can I have reader who is a virgin and is bestfriends with love interest(s) and they confide in them that they could only have sex with someone they REALLY trust but later they ask "hey I know this is weird but I don't want to be a virgin anymore and I trust you to know you won't hurt me but can you be my first? You could say no and we could pretend this never happened but I'm just tired of being a virgin" if they end up being romantically involved is up to you
I want this with Din and Boba and Cobb Vanth (if you don't write for him that's cool) and Luke
Fem!reader x Boba, Cobb, or Din | 458k words
Content: virginity, propositioning a friend, short intro with links to full smut fics
Okay okay okay, this prompt made me go just a little bit insane, and I tried to do simple headcanons, I really did, but in the end I couldn't help but write out smutty one shots instead 😈
So let's turn this into a choose-your-own adventure thing. Here's an introduction to set the scene, and then you'll have a choice of what happens next, each leading to one of three characters - Din, Boba, or Cobb (sorry I couldn't find the inspiration to write for Luke in this scenario!) Pick one or pick them all!
[18+ only below the cut, please and thank you]
Your best friend sat at the edge of the dock, feet dangling off the side as he gazed out at the water twinkling in the moonlight. You stared at his back for a moment as you steeled your resolve. With a final, determined breath, you pushed yourself forward and sat beside him.
"Hey," you said with a nervous breathiness to your voice. He looked over at you in concern. "Scary today, huh?"
"Yeah," he agreed with a nod. You'd almost died in a firefight earlier that day. "Are you okay?"
"I am..." you said slowly, trying to find a way to transition into the script you'd prepared for yourself.
"What's wrong?"
You could never hide your true emotions from him. You looked over and gave a sheepish grin.
"This is going to sound weird, but there was something that occurred to me, when I thought my life was over. I thought... well, I thought what a shame that I was going to die a virgin."
You shifted to look at him square on and quickly dove into your speech, before he had a chance to react.
"I know, I know, it shouldn't be such a big deal. It's just that, I want that experience. And I want it with someone I know and trust. That's what's made it so hard to have happen. I haven't found the right person yet. And today made me realize that maybe I never will. Which is so not fair, because so many people have sex, no problem, so why can't I? Why am I holding myself back? Especially when..."
You faltered and averted your gaze, not wanting to see any part of him for fear you'd find him pulling away.
"Especially when... what?" he prompted. At least he was still paying attention and not completely repulsed by the awkward topic of conversation. But you couldn't really tell by his voice how he felt about it. So you took in another big breath and gave him a meaningful look.
"Especially when there is someone in my life I know and trust."
Silence. You swallowed hard, doubt starting to overtake you, regret at having gone through with this at all.
"I'm not looking for love or anything," you quickly threw out there, shifting yourself to turn back away. "And you can totally say no, and we can just forget I ever said anything. I just... I'm tired of being a virgin and I'd trust you to be my first, is all."
You looked down into your lap and swung your legs back and forth, hoping to heaven the heat in your cheeks wasn't actually visible. You might have just ruined a perfectly good friendship and all for what... sex? Were you really that desperate?
Option 1: "Darling" - But then you felt him move beside you; not away, but closer. Hope overshadowed doubt and you lifted your eyes...
Option 2: "Cyare" - The silence continued, save for the gentle lapping of water against the dock below. You felt your stomach twisting and tears brimming along your eyes...
Option 3: "Mesh'la" - At first, all you could hear was your own heart thumping in your ears. But then you realized beyond that, there was a low, gentle chuckle...

I've typed this post out a couple times in the past few months and then deleted it but I think it's just going out there today.
I used to want to die when I was little, and no one really tells you about what comes after that. What you have to grapple with when you don't want to die anymore. No one tells you about how you have to face living past the age of 18, past graduating high school, and you have to figure out how to navigate that.
It's not something you get prepared for, especially because the other adults around you think you've already been planning for this.
I didn't believe I'd make it much further past high school. Not that I'd take my own life, necessarily, but in my head and heart I was convinced that by some act of nature that would be it. An accident, some freak incident where I die or, in some later fantasies, ended up in a coma only to wake up as an adult with some high school crush rushing into the hospital room telling me they've always loved me but were too afraid to say it back then and now want to make up for lost time and help me adapt to the world around me.
I was severely missing The Vitamin, so to speak.
And then it didn't happen. And I kept living. And I keep living. And some things are great. Some things. Aren't. But nonetheless I've been out of high school for a number of years now and with every passing day the idea of myself being lost to some freak accident becomes more and more abhorrent and terrifying.
And yet I don't know what I'm doing. Or what to do with myself. I wasn't supposed to make it this far. I'm alive, sure, but living might be a stretch, and no one really warns you about that.
I have a job. I might start looking for a better one more suited to my skillset soon. I don't know. I'm not looking for advancement. Just comfort. Just something to do that pays the bills because everything else just seems so impossible right now and I don't know when it won't be, if it won't be.
There's no real point to this post, I think. Just throwing some thoughts out into the void in case anyone relates or something and needs to know that they aren't the only one still standing and with no idea how to move forward. Someone else who expected the trail to be over by now, only to see it keeps going for many more miles, and turning back is literally not an option, but we're too exhausted and lost to go further.
We'll probably figure it out some day. Take the next step. Find a map, maybe. Make one if we feel like it. But until then? Until then I'm just sitting here. Figuring it all out.
#slime speaks#tw sui ideation#a more serious post#just something that's been floating in my head lately#it's really weird to still be alive despite everything#i feel very lost a lot of the time. but i'm living day by day and figuring it out from there.

Hi! I was wondering if you have any tips for outlining your story?
I’m trying to work on one, but it doesn’t really want to cooperate with me when I try to outline.
Do you have any tips for what works for you?
I would say don't force it, most importantly. You won't be satisfied and it won't come out great if your heart and mind just aren't in it. Get your inspiration and creative muse going first.
I genuinely don't know how the fuck I got my plot as fleshed out as it is, I got hella lucky it kept going. It was very fuck it we ball.
I will say, I often reread what I already had planned before letting my little brain movie continue.
I can picture things in my head really clearly, so basically my brain gave me a movie of the first 5 chapters and I just let it "yes and" itself until it just kept going. Or I got specific scenes that popped into my head and then wrote from where I left off and pushed things in a direction that could make the scene true in a way that made sense and flowed well.
From there, I knew I needed to resolve conflicts I'd established ("how does Phil get EK out of his body?"), come back to certain plot points I'd planted the seeds of ("so how is Phil doing while the group is planning his rescue?"), or cover "well what's going on with x during this time?" type stuff ("how is Missa taking care of the kids on his own while this is all going on?"). So over time, I'd make sure to either devote a whole chapter or just a scene to cover the thing, whatever length felt right.
As soon as I get a rough idea of what major points I want to cover, the rest comes organically as I'm writing. For example, in Chapter 3, I did not plot the Pissa date thoroughly. My plan said "fluffy distraction date, but hes hallucinating," and eventually "Phil hallucinates an enderman which exposes he's not doing well so he confesses everything to Missa bc he can't bring himself to lie to him." I didn't plan them visiting an event venue, going on a picnic, taking pictures, anything casual they talked about before that point. I let it come out in the moment and allowed the pieces to just fall into place because over-planning something can sometimes choke the life out of it.
Though that could just be what works for me because I'm taking over a decade of roleplaying skills and fitting them to a fic. A lot of the scenes I write come out the same way I'd start a roleplay. You can see it most in the start of a chapter, because both require setting the scene before puppeting the character(s) within it.
And obligatory mention that the process isn't always linear, flowing perfectly, etc. Shit takes time and the first draft is not gonna be your last, even if only a single detail changes later. Don't expect perfection the first time, you'll limit yourself and you won't be satisfied later. It could straight up kill your motivation to write the thing at all. I've deleted whole paragraphs of text in chapter 4 because even though they were written beautifully, it wasn't what I wanted or didn't match my plan.
So basically:
Ride as long as you can on the initial idea. Milk as much Where Does This Go / What Happens Next from it as possible
Play to your strengths when writing. If you're good at describing setting or atmosphere, go nuts. If you're good at writing dialogue, weaponize that. Whatever you're best at writing, lean into that and it'll make your story shine.
Keep the things you need to conclude satisfyingly in mind. Figure out how you want to resolve the conflict(s) you've started, then steer the plot in that direction however you see fit. If you establish certain things, decide if you Need or Want to actually write it out rather than imply it happening/being done/whatever.
Make sure the events that connect two plot points together flow well and make sense, but leave room for improvising because things that unfold organically are important in order to avoid having a plot feel too "mechanical" so to speak. Not to mention things that miraculously fall into place and just fit in perfectly are super rewarding and motivating.
Don't be precious with your ideas. If something doesn't fit, suck it up and delete it (you can always copy/paste it elsewhere to keep it in case it works later on, or you're just so damn proud of what you wrote that you don't want to banish it to the void). Chances are when you rewrite the scene or steer it in a more logical direction, you'll write something you like even more. If you don't, sometimes sacrifices must be made and you can refine the new thing until it's to your liking as many times as you want. OR you can commit to the new thing you wrote, but make sure to make all the changes to your plot and such necessary to have that thing make sense and flow well with the rest of what you're writing.
And very important: If you're writing for something that has a Canon, make sure what you're doing makes sense for the character. Don't have a "he would not fucking say that" / "he does not have the emotional intelligence for that" (HUGE ONE. Modern fandom has a massive problem with bitching about characters not communicating, but if the character would not spill their guts to someone, don't fuckin do it!! Miscommunication sucks, but lack of communication is a device that often benefits plot and creates conflict necessary for an interesting story!!) / etc moment. Dig into the character's brain and understand how they work, take what you know about how they are in situations and in general and apply that. Binge read character analysis for help, your best resources are your fellow fandom mates who are insane about their little guys. Consult them if you can't find any analyses, they'll write you a whole essay often times. Characterization is extremely important and many readers just straight up won't read your thing if you're butchering their special guy. For example, Phil is deeply allergic to sharing his burdens and hates the idea of putting his friends in danger. Obviously I'm not gonna have him venting to anyone who'll listen that he's being possessed by a god they don't even know of and that he needs their help. Even when you're writing an AU, that will rarely ever make the character's canon way of being irrelevant, you just have to think about how those traits would look in your universe/specific situation. There's still even more nuance to this I won't cover, but just keep in mind that writing a character accurately matters!

hi, I was going through my archive and stumbled upon that post of yours about getting suspended by staff for having "too many sideblogs" that I had reblogged to spread awareness.
someone I follow got suspended in october also for having too many sideblogs, staff asked them to delete some and only then did they get their account back.
now I'm worried about the amount of sideblogs I have. how many blogs did you have at the time staff suspended you, including the ones you are just a member of? like is it more than 10 or would staff do this randomly to users who have 4-5 blogs including their main?
it's totally bullshit that they do this to active users when many inactives (who won't ever return to tumblr) still have all their blogs and sideblogs and bots are taking up urls one after the other and bothering actual users. I'm sorry they did this to you.
thank you <3 i appreciate your words, it really was a super stressful time for me not knowing whether this blog i've poured my heart into for over a decade was going to get terminated out of nowhere 😭 and in a lot of ways i feel like i still haven't caught up to everything i missed while i was gone, and the backlog just keeps getting bigger
i can't remember exactly how many sideblogs i had back then, but it was definitely more than 10. it seems kind of arbitrary though because i know of people with like 30+ urls and they've been fine?
also the weird thing for me was that they included the blogs i was just a member of, so i didn't even have the power to delete them like they were asking me to. not to sound like a tumblr ancient ™ but back when we didn't have built-in dms or discord, we used to make private sideblogs with our mutuals to talk (kinda similar to the communities feature nowadays) and those were being counted as inactive as well. i'm guessing that since all the posts were private, they appeared to be inactive? because of that i ended up having to leave several of those blogs, so all of those conversations with some of my oldest friends here are now gone :(
it's just so bizarre because it feels like they're going after actual users instead of focusing on the biggest issues at hand? as you said, bots keep taking up urls every single day, and there are so many inactive users who haven't been online in years that still have their massive url hoards. for a while, tumblr used to append "-blog" to inactive urls (which imo was a great idea to free up old urls) but even then, it seemed to be completely random and only applied to very few blogs. i've literally been waiting for a canon url to free up for 9 years and it's completely blank so :/
if you only have 4-5 sideblogs i'd say you're most likely safe! but then again it's always a toss up when it comes to staff so i can also give you some advice just in case:
avoid contacting staff as much as you can
this is just speculation but after talking with the handful of other people i know that went through the same thing, it seems like most of us contacted staff for other issues before being suspended some time later. my guess is that if you pop up on their radar, you run the risk of being scrutinized more closely even for something completely unrelated to the issue you were originally seeking help for.
2. keep your sideblogs few and active
of course, if you have urls you don't really plan on using (even if they're really good) you should free them up because the fewer urls you have, the less risk you run of getting suspended one day. also they'd make a lot of other users happy. if you prefer, you can even give them to your friends or mutuals. it's better than just letting them sit there gathering digital dust.
however, if you have a handful of urls you love and actually plan on using someday, try to keep them active. give them a purpose and occasionally reblog posts, change your header and pfp, etc. (if this seems like a lot of work to you then it's probably best to release those urls)
i had to part with a few urls that i was really fond of back then so i know how hard it is </3 but trust me it's best to just not run the risk if you can avoid it.
3. back up your blog
just in case, because you never know what might happen. this post links to a google doc with several different alternatives to back up your blog. it may take some getting used to at first, but try to choose the method that's easiest for you so you can do it regularly!
--
i hope any of this is helpful for you! and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! i'd like to help as much as i can so other people don't go through what i did 😭
#ask#Anonymous#sorry for the late reply btw!! i have a mountain of asks i still need to get through and it's a little overwhelming ngl#but i'm gonna try to answer one every few days at least

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers! Spread the self-love 💞
Okay, so first off, thanks to @dear-massacre for this one. I got to filter through a lot of things I wrote for other fandoms besides Teen Wolf, and while I won't be sharing them (purely because most of them fell victim to the Great Strikethrough Purge, and the "clean" versions I have up on the Pit that is fanfiction.net are... frankly, things I would delete if I could remember what the hell my log-in is), I did remember one I co-wrote with a friend of mine over a decade ago. And neither of us remembers how to log into that old account we created solely for the purpose of writing something together (let me just say, AO3 allowing for co-creators is a fucking godsend), so the link for that one will have to direct you there instead of AO3. I may be able to update this with an AO3 link, provided @caseyvalhalla (said cowriter) is able to find a full version of the fic in their backup drive (which would be outstanding, seeing as how my copy of the fic was lost at some point about three or four PCs/laptops ago).
I also left WIPs out of this list because I feel like that might be too cruel of a tease, seeing as how I haven't updated them since about 2011.
Freaks and Fools is a Halloween-themed fic that Casey and I brainstormed together in about two hours after the initial joke of mashing up Kingdom Hearts and Peanuts. One of us said "Axel is Snoopy, sleeping out on the lawn," and it suddenly turned into him also being Johnny from The Outsiders; what followed was a feverish brainstorming session of determining the perfect way to balance drama and humor. Then we wrote and edited the whole damn thing over the course of three coffee-laden weekends.
I'm Not Asking Questions, I'm Taking My Chances is the first fic I wrote for the Sterek Reverse Bang. I'd previously written a fic for the Sterek Reverse Quickie, and it was my very first Teen Wolf fic, period, while I fucked around and found out if I'd be able to write for the fandom. Turns out, I could. The minimum word count for the RB was 5k, so naturally I wrote something up in the 80k range because I have zero chill.
It's a fantasy AU that very loosely (seriously, so loose that you definitely don't want to be relying on this fic to catch you in a trustfall exercise) incorporates themes from the Merlin series. Writing it helped teach me how to better plan out scenes, in terms of "do I really need to write out this whole scene independently or could I just incorporate it briefly into this already-existing one?" It also gave me better practice at determining when I was going to have to let scenes go altogether, maybe with the notion that I might write them someday and add them on later.
You Gotta Promise Not to Stop When I Say When is a fic I wrote for the Sterek Reverse Quickie, during which I was paired up with the same artist who I'd written for during my very first RQ. She wanted comfort, made a moodboard about it (sadly, Discord stopped image hosting so the links to all of her previous artwork are all broken), and I decided I wanted to write comfort as well. I gave her two choices (Derek takes Stiles's pain, or Stiles is a vampire sharing a house with Derek, and both of them accuse the other of being a squatter--it's a long, stupid story that has gone off the rails in a meme prompt thread on Discord), and went with the one that both of us could sink into.
This one is probably my absolute favorite because I literally just wrote what I know. Stiles is disabled, Derek helps him cope with it. I can't really sell it any better than that, other than to say that I wrote my own personal experiences, but Sterekified.
We're Floating in the Moonlit Sky is a Sterek fic I wrote for a little something called the 1000 Cakes Challenge, which provided the writer and artist participants with a word, an action, and a setting, and had us all spin our own take on them. The word was "kumquat," the action was "pursuit" or "sleepwalk" (I incorporated both--again, zero chill), and the setting was a gorgeous painting of a snowy forest that one of the moderators made herself just for the challenge. Initially, I wasn't even going to participate because I'd literally just finished writing my latest Sterek RB fic and thought I was burned out. Then an idea smacked me in the face right as I was falling asleep.
I love this one because it's more or less just me allowing myself some pure self-indulgence. There's some angst, there's some drama, but most of it is just seeing how many Christmas carol references I can squeeze in as puns. Stiles is half-elf and half-frost sprite, Derek is still a werewolf, Peter is Krampus (thanks to @ice-mage, because "of course Peter is Krampus"), and Noah is Santa Claus.
My Echo, My Shadow, and Me is the Sterek Reverse Bang fic I wrote before I got started on Floating. I somehow managed to write 100k+ words in a bit under four months, and satisfied my desire to write a season 3a "fix-it" (of sorts--more like a revision) in the process. I don't know if the experience would be the same for @nerdherderette, who wound up beta-reading "the Beast in Blue" in the course of about 20 hours, but it was damn satisfying to write.
Essentially, all of season 3a still happens, but Jackson never leaves and Cora never arrives. I wanted to explore everyone's strengths and flaws, and I wanted to write an alternate take on the nogitsune without having to rewrite 3b as well.

Hi, I have a question about your looking macro. Is there any way to make macro appear in different colors base on the player preference? Ex: the player choose that they love red, the text of macro after that will appear in red color; the player choose they love blue, they will appear in blue…
My post kept getting deleted, and right after I finished it too;;
I've been experimenting with this, and this might be a slightly inconvenient solution. If you want to do this, it would be VERY helpful to know some basic CSS.
1. You'll have to make a new widget passage (I'd title it "looked") and add this code. You'll also have to initialize $link_color in your StoryInit passage. You can do ((set $link_color to "")) or if you have a default color, ((set $link_color to "red")), but you will want to think about that later...
2. If you're using the "observe" macro, replace the widget passage with the observe widget with this code instead. For glance. For reveal.
3. We should get rid of the default color I initially applied in .look a , .look a:hover , and .looked by commenting the code out (that is, the code will be a comment instead of actual code, so it does not apply to the text).
4. Next, we will want to make a class for every color you want to give the player an option to color their links as. For example, if you want to make a red color, we will make a class for the red color. Remember, a class is a way you format a group of "stuff" the same way.
To do this, we will need to make classes that are .look.red a, .look.red a:hover, and .looked.red. These are SEPARATE from .look a, .look a:hover, and .looked. Inside these classes, you will want to add "color: red" or in place of red, you can also add a hexcode instead.
Make sure it is in the format of .look.(color) a, .look.(color) a:hover, and .looked.(color).
Repeat the step for every color you want to add. Again, these are new classes each time. So you will make a .look.green a and a .look.blue a separate from .look.red a (and of course, from .look a). This goes for .look a:hover and .looked as well.
5. After that, go into each of the looking macros (any of the ones you added like observe, glance and reveal) and scroll down to the bottom of the widget passage. You will find an empty ((timed 0s)). Here, we will make if statements.
Let's say I made classes red, green and blue, because I want to give the option to players to make the links red, green or blue. If the variable $link_color is red, we will call an ((addclass)) that adds the "red" class that will be formatting the links. If the $link_color is blue instead, add the "blue" class. It will look like this:
((addclass ".look" "[the name of the color class]"))
You will also want to do the same thing in the new widget passage "looked" that we just made earlier. It's practically the same code, but make ".look" into ".looked":
((adclass ".looked" "[the name of the color class]"))
6. After all of that is done, you can ask the player what color they want and change it merely with ((set $link_color to "red")) or ((set $link_color to "blue")) and so forth. It will automatically color the links.
Although, keep in mind, if the passage is already rendered, it likely won't live update the colors of the link. It will just color the links of all the looking links after you ask them and the variable is set.
Let me know if anything goes wonky! I had to rewrite this guide from almost scratch TWICE because Tumblr weirded out on me, and this is again, pretty experimental. Thank you so much for the ask 💕💕
