Thinking about the KaeyaJeanDiluc friendship where they grew up together and they were CLOSE & sure maybe Jean felt like Diluc & Kaeya were closer since they were brothers & sure maybe Kaeya felt like he had to keep secrets from the two of them bc they would never understand but they were like. A trio! A team!

& then Diluc’s 18th birthday comes around and everything goes to shit and Diluc LEAVES so they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc but just Kaeya & Jean & in some ways Kaeya and Jean get closer because of it but there’s also a pronounced DISTANCE where Jean doesn’t know how to reach Kaeya anymore & Kaeya is even more determined not to tell Jean anything & they both lose themselves in their duties to Mondstadt while also missing Diluc and ALSO, despite everything, offering each other unconditional support

& then Diluc comes BACK & in addition to Kaeya & Jean there’s the shaky reestablishment of Jean & Diluc and Diluc & Kaeya but it’s not THE SAME. they’re no longer KaeyaJeanDiluc; Jean & Kaeya are knights and Diluc will never be a knight again & they all changed while Diluc was away & none of them know how to talk to each other anymore AND YET there’s still an undercurrent of trust!! Not fully, especially between Kaeya & Diluc, but Diluc still calls on Jean during the archon quest, trusting that she will keep their secrets even though as the acting grandmaster she should probably not. Jean says in her about Diluc voiceline that she understands why Diluc hates the knights & is working hard to make them an organization he can trust again. Kaeya covers for Diluc’s darknight hero escapades & fondly reminisces about their childhood in front of him. Diluc invited Kaeya to dinner at the winery & (afaik) never told anyone about Kaeya’s origins. Kaeya tells the traveler that they need to give Jean their full support and planned a birthday party for her. Jean left Kaeya in charge of Mondstadt when she went to the golden apple archipelago! On some level they recognize that their goals still align!! There’s still trust and love there but there’s also this gap between them that none of them know how to cross and I just!!!

Water and Lochlan

Saxton pushes Lochlan into the ocean twice. Once during the day he shoves him off and cannonballs in after him. The second time is at night, Lochlan is trying to climb up the ladder and Saxton pulls/shoves him back into the water.

The entire Ratliff family has a water motif. They often wear blue, white, or both. Saxton is obsessed with the pool and associates it with potential hookups (and a place to exercise in public, great opportunity to perform manufactured masculinity)

Tim’s conversation with the monk, where he describes death as a single water drop rejoining the group. Water is used to symbolize identity and relationships/sexuality. And I think for the clothing specifically blue = sexuality and white = identity.

Piper is wearing almost no blue at all, as well as Tim. I think they both completely lack a sense of identity and that’s where their problems lie. Tim has been trying to avoid it by staying busy, Piper is attempting to fix it by facing it head on.

Lochlan also has no identity and is even allowing other people decide what’s to be done about that. Letting his siblings fight over him, doing the posture correction appointment, listening to Saxtons insanity. He’s so unsure of himself that he can’t form an opinion about Saxtons behavior, despite being shocked and even speechless by it.

So when sax says “she’s pretty hot but I don’t think she’s ever been laid before 😏😏” Lochlan tells piper to test the waters. She’s normal so she calls them out. Lack of blue in her outfits = no sexual identity issues, or no definitive sexual identity.

And they had this conversation In The Ocean… she leaves while Lochlan stays. Stuck in confusion. Saxton thinks he’s being playful (helping him) shoving Lochlan into the sea (mentoring him through sex) but he’s really risking his safety (giving him even more sexual issues).

The official account just dropped this shot from yesterday and I need y’all to understand that the energy Kit’s been giving this role is extremely yes and I’m going to be respectfully barking at my screen every week, so just. That’s an important thing to know about me going forward. Zero decorum. Just frothing at the mouth while gnawing on a clock expressly purchased as a sacrificial timepiece to encourage the days to move faster between episodes.

i think the ideal minrathous questline for me would be getting two factions. both the dragons and the threads, with not exactly opposing interests but not ones they necessarily consider to be aligned.

the shadow dragons will do some work to earn goodwill in dock town, but their primary concern here is the wider slave trading network that they’re trying to undermine. the threads aren’t exactly fans of slavers themselves, but their main concern is dock town itself. the people might be free, but life is hard enough that some of the people might even sell themselves into slavery.

some members of each faction might have a more myopic view of things (our goal is more important), while others may see it as a question of limited resources.

neve’s role is still as an independent actor with loose ties to both. varric seeks her out both for being a damn good detective and for those connections.

as u progress through dock town’s questline, these two factions will give you quests that line up with their respective agendas. rook can work with either of them or with both (and maybe try to get them to work together!) with the resulting faction strengths having different implications for the status of dock town & for the state of the shadow dragons organization (which operates throughout tevinter!!! a lot more people than just dock town are impacted if that venatori crackdown succeeds!!!!! kills me that we brush past this fr)

no let’s talk about cScott’s strategy in the life series being the social game. Let’s talk about how he’ll just kinda play nice with everyone and get to very high placements as a result. Do you wonder if his past allies feel used by him? If they feel like they’re just part of the strategy of his own game? Did you realize how rarely Scott has recurring alliances? Do you think they wonder about if they were just someone Scott could get to a higher result to feel good about? Or someone that could get him the win? Or are you normal

all I’m saying is usually we go on lengthy talks about Scott being nice and sweet and wholesome but this guy (character) is good at the murder game! Really worryingly good! Let’s delve into that some more!
