Reader, looking at Wally blankly: "Wally, why are you wearing a dress?"

Wally, looking calm and pleased with himself: "Sally wanted me to be a princess in her new play."

Reader, looking more confused: "That doesn't answer my question, Wally."

Reader looking at a nearby Sally: "Sally, why is he in a dress?"

Sally, whispering loudly in your ear: "I wanted to know what he would look like in a dress!"

Reader, not even surprised at this point: "Just...let me get a picture then you can take off the dress, okay Wally?"

How long has he spent looking at the same sheet of paper with the same scribbles (actually likely less now with the mess that he's made), with the same designs, and with the same look.

He doesn't know, really he doesn't know.

Mole taps his pencil against the blue print of his latest project because the college is having them design something, design something -- he would complain more but he picked the major and -- oh well, there's only so much to complain about when you're the one throwing yourself into hell.

There is one thing that he knows though, and that is that he hates it. Hates this stupid course because it sucks. Nothing makes sense, and honestly some of that might be the bias speaking seeing as he can't get a working blueprint, let alone model, and he's going to have to build all of this later, and it's two AM in the fucking morning, and, and, and--

"Are you still up?"

He almost jumps out of his seat when he hears the door open, he turns over to his roommate Blu. He'd say that he seemed concerned but -- mask. There was a mask on his face and -- why did he always get the weird ones? First Acedia now this?

Just his luck.

"Yeah, just working on this blueprint and-"

"Can I see?"

Mole doesn't even get the next word out before Blu closes the distance between them with a few strides and peaks over his shoulder to see his... his... well his abomination of a blueprint.

"I didn't know that you liked trains so much," Blu comments and for a second Mole wants to bash his head into the desk and hide away, let the shadows swallow him up and what morsels of high school angst swallow him up like the shadows because this is embarrassing.

"Yeah... my father worked on them," He was about to take it away before Blu put his hand on it or well... is a robotic hand yours? Technically yes but also there's the matter of whether or not it is because its not blood or flesh or -- he's getting off track...

"Huh... what's wrong with it then?" Blu seems to be trying to figure it out, and part of Mole hopes that he doesn't after all he's not the one trying to major in engineering and in trains of all things.

"It just doesn't work,"

"Huh,"

Silence.

Why is there silence?

"When is it due?"

Ah there it is.

"Next week but I need to build it by then so-"

Blu claps his hands together and puts one on Mole's shoulder, he thinks that Blu's smiling right now? Is it weird to think that? He could be glaring daggers at him and he really wouldn't know--

"Well then! I think a nights rest ought to do you good then,"

"But it's not done yet-"

"Well you tried your best at the moment, why don't we give it a day and then try it again?"

Mole grits his teeth a little in frustration, pressing them together before looking back at the blueprint, he's been at this for how long again? And still nothing.

It's not good enough.

"I've already tried it at my best, it's not working,"

"I don't think trying it at your worst is gonna do you any good either," Blu snips back, it's rather playful and lighthearted, but he makes him want to smash something. It might make him feel better, which is odd because he's never been a particularly violent person.

When Mole doesn't respond he feels Blu nudge him once more and defeated he ends up moving from his spot at the desk and getting ready for bed. Once that's done he sees Blu waving to him slightly.

"Well see! Don't you feel better already?"

He shrugs a little before sitting down on his bed and looking at Blu.

"Why were you out so late?"

"Just helping my little sister with something,"

"Oh..."

Blu lets out a small chuckle.

"Good night Mole,"

"Good night Blu,"
