i have been trying to figure out for this entire fic when i could have peter biting metal or a jaw breaker or something because it's so fucking funny to imagine peter mid conversation with someone and he pops a jawbreaker into his mouth and bites down and it crunches and the person stands there in horror thinking "this kid doesn't know about jawbreakers and he just broke his teeth holy fuck... wait a fucking minute."

tianwang and colours

teaser photos of this week's episodes were released and i couldn't stop staring at jiang tian and sheng wang's clothes.

@respectthepetty shared a brilliant post on the drama's colour theory, especially pertaining to the colours jiang tian and sheng wang are wearing or associated with. [thanks so much op for the insightful and beautifully written post ^^]

so, in this photo, jiang tian and sheng wang (maybe) are having a study date outside of school (and they look so domestic and cute and UGH). however, i do notice that jiang tian wears a darker shade of brown while sheng wang wears something lighter.

directly quoting from op's post, "One is light, and the other is dark. One is the sun, and one is the moon. One is warm, and one is cool."

we're so used to seeing jiang tian in dark-coloured clothes (black, grey, blue) while sheng wang always wears something light/bright (orange, white, red, yellow). i think it's such a nice detail to be added in this drama and also jiang tian and sheng wang's characters, considering the progress of their relationship.

i guess, it's showing us how sheng wang has brought light into jiang tian's life, and now he's no longer drenched in only darkness. he still wears darker colours than sheng wang, but it doesn't have that usual gloominess. i think sheng wang balances jiang tian's darkness, and it's just so beautiful to witness this in the upcoming episodes.

and don't get me started on the matching bracelets.....

if my eyesight isn't deceiving me, jiang tian is blue and sheng wang is yellow/brown? again, op uses the motif 'the sun and the moon' to represent jiang tian and sheng wang and i think it's the most accurate representation of their personality.

even though the sun and the moon don't collide, they still belong to the same sky.

i honestly can't wait to see the shift in their relationship. since the walls between them are no longer high, will they finally be united? will there be more than just this feeling of wanting to be closer? what will happen in episode 7 that leads to them wearing these matching bracelets?

so many questions are left unanswered. we just have to wait and see.

There are four main types of Batfam fans in regard to how people interpret Bruce Wayne as a dad (/Joking. This is mostly satire and should not be taken seriously):

Fans that think Bruce is emotionally constipated and isn't the best at being a parent but still tries (Differs per person). Don't necessarily think he's absuive but thinks he can be toxic or have unhealthy expectations for the Robins. Can smell the Oldest Daughter Syndrome coming from Dick and have Family Line (By Conan Gray) as their top song on their Dick inspired playlist and Daddy Issues (By The Neighbourhood) for Jason.

Fans that choose to believe Bruce goes to therapy in their own canon. Love B:WFA. Thinks the comic can be cheesy at times and so find a balance between B:WFA Bruce and Please Go To Therapy BruceTM as their middle ground. He struggles. They advocate that Bruce is not a bad parent, he just has bad writers that seem to forget Bruce wouldn't hurt kids, especially not his own. Love the humane moments and scenes he has in BTAS and the early JL cartoons. He may not be perfect but he's not literally abusive. Whores for Bruce being able to admit when he is wrong and for Jason and Bruce reconciling. I recommend Grow As We Go by Ben Platt for this one.

A mix between the first two. Was fine-ish when Dick was younger. Didn't help him in the healthiest way but eh. Still emotionally constipated but that happened more so after Dick left and Jason died. Started getting better when Tim came back but was still closed off. Should probably go to therapy with the kids so they can drag his ass about all the things he's done that have actually affected them negatively. Understands his mistakes and is also able to admit when he's wrong, eventually. It's not easy but he starts to do better and learns to be more emotionally available. Still has to get chewed out by Alfred sometimes but definitely better than he used to be and it shows. Reconciliation is slow and gradual but progress is made for everyone involved.

The one's I personally avoid for my own sanity and wellbeing:

Think Bruce is a complete bastard and abuser. Want him to choke. Hate any and all interpretations of him. Some of which will refuse to understand how anyone could have a different interpretation. Will point out comics where, in all fairness, he is a dick but forget that characterisation can significantly differ from one series to the next, as comic characters are constantly passed around to different writers and have been for decades. Not to mention movies, shows, etc.

ok I'm awake and a little more sentient. there is a whole lot of stuff I really really like about the episodes but I think my main disappointment right now is just that. viktor became the machine herald because of his own conviction. he forced himself to become stronger, specifically attempted to remove his own emotions because he felt they made him weak. but now this viktor just gets thrust into this situation, like the hexcore is just manipulating him to do whatever the fuck, he didn't even get to choose what he wanted because jayce chose it for him

I might be taking things the wrong way, but you know how I tried to be very careful about determining how deep Ai's feelings towards Kamiki would be before the actual chapters dropped? (and I had to, since what's happened to her was serious, fiction or not, and I felt it'd be rude? even offensive if I jumped to conclusions and got really off about it considering what happened to her) It turned out to be WAY deeper and stronger than I described! I really liked that, btw, and it helped me understand her character better.

Maybe the same thing could be said about kamiki too?? I actually HOPE that would be the case.. and that'd mean a LOT because I'd actually been interpreting him in a really.. how should I put it, compassionate? direction ALREADY. I was afraid I could be wrong about my takes (and I'd actually regret it if it were to be) but I was also convinced that this should be where the story would be going, how he'd be handled, and that there'd be something more about him after that latest chapter.

This comic has some extremely heavy themes and what it tackles is something that can hurt people in reality, right. So I wanted to be careful about determining and drawing conclusions about how the characters feel about one another. Crimes and violence can't be justified no matter what. You can't call something like that "love", but I think this character shared such feelings with Ai. I felt that, so... it'd been giving me a lot of mixed feelings. I felt so conflicted. Perhaps it's just my wishful thinking, but it'd be nice if they really do have a genuine sense of love towards one another.

I had a hunch that it could really be it. That's why I decided to hop right in and start discussing it(it was really fun!) I can be wrong, but...

It'd be even cooler if the actual thing is even STRONGER than what I anticipated it'd be like! (and this is usually the case because I worry about getting things wrong and refrain from being more assertive than the source material)

but who knows? I just really enjoy thinking about/drawing characters that care a whole lot about each other. Ai certainly had that sort of feeling towards her bf all along, and I want to see him doing the same for her too. It'd make so much sense for me that way. I can draw lots of things about them if it were to be the case because I specialize with drawing stuff like that! I say it's my strength. It could be a bit dumb and naive of me to hope for something wholesome from a series that starts out with murder, but we'll see, I guess.
