it's technically not friday here yet, still two more hours, but I got tagged and I need to go to sleep early bc I get up at 4am, so not waiting for friday lol
I just finished chapter 1 of alive shannon, tho it needs some serious editing too (gonna write the whole fic before posting tho haha) so here's another lil snippet that follows the last one

Still, Eddie gets up and helps him, and brings him some sweats and a t-shirt to sleep in, and then he’s about to go to his room, but then hesitates, standing there awkwardly, wringing his fingers and debating whether he should say anything. Finally, the broken and aching part of him wins, deciding to just for once ask for what he wants.
“Can you-” he starts, and Buck looks at him curiously. “It’s so stupid, Jesus Christ, forget it.” he sucks in a sharp breath and shakes his head, immediately regretting even opening his mouth.
“Eddie, anything.” Buck reminds him, taking a step closer. “What is it?”
“Uh-” Eddie closes his eyes, feeling tears well up, and blurts out: “Can I get a hug?” He hears Buck chuckle softly, and he opens his eyes to see a fond smile on his face.
“Of course.” he responds, closing the distance between them, and wrapping Eddie up in his arms, holding him tightly. Eddie slumps against him, arms around Buck’s back, clutching at the fabric of his shirt, face buried in the crook of his neck, smelling a sharp scent of his shower gel, he must’ve taken a shower after work, before coming to the hospital.
Buck’s hugs are magical. Eddie’s known this, watching his son’s giddy face every time Buck gives him a hug, and now he gets to experience it, too. It’s like a warm blanket on a cold winter night. Eddie immediately feels some of the tension leave his body, warmth spreading over him, and he feels- he feels safe. Like everything will work out and it’s going to be truly okay.

thinking about kageyama’s “it’s the setter’s job to break the wall in front of the spiker” in reference to how kenma sponsoring hinata while he’s in brazil and onwards is effectively doing that on a financial level. once a setter always a setter.
#could talk about how the narrative purpose of every setter (at least in hinata’s story) reflects the idea of breaking a wall in front of him#for hours i think#i want to do a full manga read to fully think about that but#atsumu & hinata’s feeling that he needs kageyama. kenma & just the financial logistics of being able to go to brazil. oikawa & homesickness#obviously there’s more going on w/ all the characters but like. those 3 & kageyama (obviously) all have at least one big thing they help-#hinata overcome. kageyama has so many of these moments w/ hinata i’d have to rewatch & list them all but yea.#akaashi is also this but for bokuto. (bokuto is this for akaashi as well)#(& if we’re talking setters & spikers obviously hinata is that for kageyama. something that makes me sad is when people tell me the healthy communication in my writing is "unrealistic."
like guys this is how me and my partner talk with eachother... I'm writing from personal experience...
#like it's sad both on the front of 'dehumanizing my real life'#but also on the front of 'you deserve to have healthy communication in your life'#like if you think this is unrealistic it means more than likely you havent experienced someone being patient and understanding with you#and that makes me very very sad#I'm sorry#also it's just rude to tell me my writing is unrealistic LOL like hey#real people talk all kinds of ways. shut up#I've been told it's also in part cause they always understand their own feelings when theyre talking#but I'm like...#theyre like mid 30-early 40 and theyre immortal and theyre going through a lot of shit#I feel like theyve thought about it a lot#also the comic takes place over the course of a year so far#we're seeing the big moments and the fun mysteries#so#its about grown men who love eachother#sorry that they think about what they want to say before they say it#also as if adam isnt constantly wrong and steve isnt constantly pushing shit down#he's only JUST RECENTLY starting to share his emotions as they come up#instead of pretending theyre not there and letting things boil over#I think people just THINK theyre communicating way too clearly because their partner#who loves them#is listening and responding with kindness#like..#idk I have a lot of thoughts about this#would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE for this to spark a discussion#and especially for it to cause people to reread a little more critically#and perhaps even introspect on their own ideas of communication standards#I've been with my partner for 10 years. this is how we talk to eachother
