it didn't really occur to me until watching old interviews with adam that not everyone just like.. idk understands owl city? like he always gets asked "whys it called owl city?" "what's an alligator sky?" "what does this lyric mean?" "why are these lyrics so weird?"

i feel like even back when i was 11 listening to his music for the first time i never really wondered "what does this mean" i mainly just thought "it's nice to find an artist whos similar minded to me and has a big imagination" yk?

it's like so many people are in this box of 'if i don't understand this then it's just weird' and can't use their imagination to fully immerse themselves in whatever it is

maybe it has something to do with the fact that i'm neurodivergent but i really just didn't know that so many people couldnt enjoy owl city because they were too caught up in asking questions and trying to give a logical explanation of lyrics that are MEANT to be nonsensical and require you to use your imagination
