#I love love love the English dub of the first three seasons

As I rewatch Haikyuu for the Nth time, I am once again reminded of how the English dub missed a huge opportunity when they didnāt cast voice actors with any sort of dialect or accent for the Inarizaki players. But more specifically, Miya Atsumu.
In the manga, Atsumuās dialect is incredibly noticeable and the way he speaks is informal and rough around the edges.
But in the English dub of the anime, the way he speaks is justā¦ boring. Dry. Bland. Like a slice of plain olā Wonder bread. š
Manga Atsumu: Well? Howād ya like spiking?
Anime Atsumu: So, howād you like being a spiker?
Manga Kags: ! It was fun. The way you put the ball up is really easy to hit, Miya-san.
Anime Kags: I found it interesting. And the sets you gave me were really easy to work with as well.
Manga Atsumu: Aināt they? Anybody who canāt hit my sets sucks. Thatās all there is to it.
Anime Atsumu: Yeah I know, right? Anyone who canāt hit one of my sets is a real waste of space.
If he were a spice, heād be flourā¦ š
Manga Atsumu: Yāknow, Tobio-kun. Donātcha think yer more cut out to play wing spiker than setter?
Anime Atsumu: But anyway, I wanted to ask you. Are you sure you wouldnāt rather be a spiker?
Manga Kags: Why do you think that?
Anime Kags: Why would you ask that?
Manga Atsumu: Cuz youāve always got your face screwed up in this āIām thinkinā reeeal hardā look when yer settingā¦ But you looked like you were havinā a blast when you were playinā on the left side.
Anime Atsumu: Youāve had this real tense look on your face every time youāve made a set. But then, it went away while you were playing on the wing.
Whereās the silliness? Huh? Whereās my goofy guy at?? š¤
Like seriously, they couldnāt find a voice actor with a little southern twang in their speech? Or one who could at least fake it?? Or at least someone who would put a little more emotion into my boy Atsumu???
I hate to say it, but they made him sound like just another generic background character. Which is such a damn shame.
#itās the same with the rest of that team honestly#Osamuās VA isnāt terrible I guessā¦ but then again heās not as outspoken as Atsumu so itās not as noticeable#and none of yāall better come at me with ājust watch the sub instead!ā#because my answer is āØNoāØ#I love love love the English dub of the first three seasons#so thatās what Iām used to#and honestly itās funnier in English#Karly rewatches#haikyuu!!#miya atsumu#atsumu miya#haikyuu!! manga

'I'm in Love with the Villainess' Anime - Episode 1 Review
An astounding and hilarious first outing for the series with the power to revolutionize Yuri
We are finally here, the long-awaited and much anticipated first episode of Platinum Visionās Iām in Love with the Villainess anime aired on Tokyo MX and is streaming everywhere outside of Asia with a plethora of dubbing options, including English, on day one on Crunchyroll.
The first outing covers most of the events of the light novelās first chapter, or the first three chapters of the manga, at a rapid but steady and not overwhelming pace. At this rate, the anime should be able to cover much of the seriesā first arc, or the first two out of five books, in a single cour. Perhaps a bit less, depending on which of the storyās various adventures it elects to include. This is an exciting possibility, to be sure, as the story is a character-driven, socially mindful, and expertly written and, despite its fantasy setting, an exceptionally relevant tale of romance, socio-economic inequality, and of course, queerness.
While the first arc of Villainess is a triumph, it would be a shame not to see at least some of the developments from the extra chapters that lead into the second story, like (spoilers for the end of volume 2) Rae and Claireās wedding and their adopted twin daughters May and Aleah. If we are lucky, perhaps they will appear in the final episode or, dare to dream, a second season (end of spoilers).
Now, onto the show itself. For those who, for whatever reason, have not read Inoriās masterpiece, Iām in Love with the Villainess follows Rae Taylor. A salary worker who dies and is reincarnated as the protagonist of her favorite otome game, Revolution. However, Rae has no interest in any of the game worldās three eligible royal bachelors and has eyes only for the game villainess Claire FranƧois. Armed with exceptionally magical ability, Rae sets out determined to secure a happy ending for her beloved Claire against the coming revolution and perhaps win her heart in the process.
Now, the opening of Iām in Love with the Villainess is the series' weakest moment in all mediums, which, considering episode oneās outstanding quality, only highlights just how superb the Yuri masterpiece is as a whole. Even with its need to establish the setting, characters, and premise of the series, the premiere managed to be an excellent introduction and set the bar high with lots of laughs, entertainment, and service between our two leads.
I watched the Japanese audio, and Yu Serizawa and Karin Nanami are fantastic in these roles, with Serizawa playing up Raeās teasing adoration and borderline masochism at full blast, and Nanami explicitly giving voice to Claireās arrogance and frustration. She even manages to deliver a perfect Ojou-style laugh to seal the characterās elite status and lean into the showās use of otome tropes. And having the leads sing the excellent opening and ending themes is just icing on the cake.
Speaking of tropes, while Ironiās original work is a genre-defying masterpiece that broke the Yuri mold, it is never afraid to play with the genreās iconography and its otome game setting. Every other scene had another allusion, including to the bookās cover. As always, I am likely overeager to see connections, however intentional they may be, but the academyās halls harken to otome staples, the bells and strings of the first scene's soundtrack conjured blistering memories of Strawberry Panic (perhaps a sacrilegious comparison to make but I digress), and even an areal shot of the campus was another check mark on my āScenic Yuriā theory.
Now, as mentioned, Iām in Love with the Villainess has to establish the groundwork here, and narratively, these are the weakest moments, often direct exposition, with a few exceptions like Raeās conversation with her roommate Mash about maintaining Claireās attention. The narration is at least accompanied by relevant and creative, if perhaps limited, animation. But to their credit, these moments are succinct, existing only as long as they have to in order to provide the necessary information and get out of the way for what matters most: the characters.
Rae and Claire are front and center from the very get-go, and there is little time wasted in showcasing Raeās intense bottom energy or establishing Claireās elitism and bewildered anger towards Raeās excitement in the face of Claireās carefully calculated cruelty. It is a montage of silly and fun competitions between the two that had me laughing and smiling all the way through, as the Yuri was present in full force, and gives glimpses at the mutual obsession the women have for each other that will soon blossom into a wonderful romance.
These early story beats have a light tone and focus on the bullying, teasing, and rivalry between Rae and Claire, a dynamic that previously and understandably made a subset of readers somewhat uncomfortable. However, assuming the anime unfolds in a similar manner to the manga and light novels, the narrative will explore meatier, heavier subject matter and a far deeper lesbian romance, all without losing its sense of fun and adventure. The next episode or two will be incredibly telling - as the source material is perhaps the most profound and forthright depictions of LGBTQ identity in Yuri, and that all starts with a pivotal conversation that, if it is included, will be coming up shortly.
Overall, I am incredibly excited for this series. The first episode is everything I had hoped for out of an adaptation of one of my favorite works of all time, save the animation, which is average at best. While there is a lot more to see, and we will have to wait to know if Iām in Love with the Villainess lives up to its incredible potential and source material, I am extremely hopeful. We have one of the funniest, most thoughtful, and queerest works of Yuri transformed into a stunning anime project unlike anything that has come before and offers the chance at not just a new Yuri āgatewayā but to continue the work of its source material in revolutionizing the genre.

Fourteen Days of MHA: Day 3
Light Fades to Rain
Okay, let's gush. Here are my feelings about the anime adaptation of chapters 360-362: season 7 episode 11. This will quickly devolve from eloquent discussion to raging madness I promise.
The opening five minutes are the weakest part of the episode. This is the only section I will lodge any complaints about, and honestly they're not that serious.
The sadomasochism got toned down :P
I kind of expected it, and honestly I get why. Even though it was scaled back, the scene was effective enough for most viewers because there's just something about seeing it animated that makes it feel visceral anyways. The detail was always going to be reduced in the art when adapted to animation, and a lot of that art could've looked really bad without the necessary detail.
But it wouldn't be on brand for me if I didn't mention that it bummed me out lol.
The only other thing I can complain about isn't even an issue with the episode, it's an error in the subtitles.
"...you're just goldfish poop next to All For One."
a) It should be "One For All," not "All For One."
b) I don't think they should have kept it as "goldfish poop." Sorry to any language purists out there, but the idiomatic meaning of this phrase in Japanese will not get picked up by an English-speaking audience--and that idiom is important. It has an impact on how Katsuki behaves going forward. I think the subtitles should have changed that to something like "a minnow in One For All's wake" or "a tag-along weakling," ANYTHING to get the point across that Tomura is trying to inflict psychological damage by telling Katsuki he'll never amount to anything on the level of One For All. That message informs the rest of the episode!
Now, if that's the only complaint I have about this whole episode--a slightly too-fast-paced-under-detailed opening scene and a bad subtitle--then I'm a happy camper. And indeed that is the only complaint I have.
This episode is a masterpiece of adaptation.
The focus on the Big Three is so good because it does such a good job of masking where the episode is going but it's perfectly in-theme because of the parallels the three of them have with Izuku and Katsuki. IT JUST WORKS MAN. I LOVE IT.
The music that plays when Katsuki mutters is an excellent choice, though I wish they could have done something to hammer the point home more that he was indeed muttering and analyzing like Izuku does. Maybe the little "mutter" text would've been dissonant in tone lol but still I wish there was a way they could've done it. I do think the point does come across in the end still, but it's just more impactful when you get to see the little "mutter" text come full circle. Yeah yeah, manga vs anime and all that.
I didn't expect the tone they went with for Jeanist's reaction to Katsuki's muttering, but it was just different not like bad or anything. I kinda liked the whole "what the fuuuuck" vibe of it. I was thinking more like "Holy shit, I'm a proud dad" tone but this works XD
Jeanist is such a dad.
HE SPARKLE. KATSUKI, HE SPARKLE. IT SO PRETTY. AT LAST.
The animators were SOOOO trying to hide the twist this episode from the anime-only viewers, they didn't even put Katsuki on the commercial bumpers, they didn't want to SPOIL THE SURPRISE. IT'S SO GOOD.
Lost it at Tenko's freak out (damn voice actor wow) and Mirio's "g-gomen." I need the dub of this scene so bad.
JEANIST MY FIRST LOVE, DAD-ING SO HARD ALL OVER THIS EPISODE LOOK AT HIM GO.
Nejire is adorable as hell and everyone in MHA is so easily read as autistic it's remarkable actually.
They really put the typography behind the plasma cannon they actually did that.
UNF THAT PIANO. THE PIANO GOES OFF ALL OVER THE PLACE THIS EPISODE, DAMN.
Also good job on making the plasma cannon blast look small and precise to contrast Katsuki's attack last episode, because Katsuki definitely has more firepower but Tamaki has the finesse to concentrate the attack for a sustained period.
BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS
Everything from BOOTS on is perfection I know you all already know that.
Jeanist's voice acting is underappreciated, I really loved him this episode.
The little special sound effect for his clusters now!!! IT MAKES ME SO EXCITED. I CAN'T WAIT TO SUPERIMPOSE IT OVER KATAMARI DAMACY NEXT SEASON
Present Mic with the La Brava's-Love-quirk soft narration omg [chef's kiss]
OKAMOTO. OKAMOTO OH MY GOD. YOU GIVING ME FEELINGS WITH YOUR VOICE CRACKS I CAN'T SLEEP
The slo-mo shots are so pretty ;_;
THEY GAVE US MORE KUDOU TOO AND IT WAS SO GOOD, THE CONNECTION WAS DRAWN SO WELL BETWEEN HIM AND KATSUKI I AM LOVING IT SO MUCH. IT ALSO HELPS THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING AUDIENCE UNDERSTAND THIS IS DEFINITELY THE AFO-DOMINANT PERSONALITY NOT TOMURA.
Even if this series ends without explaining it, I'm going to come up with my own explanation for that vestige world shit. That cannot just be symbolic afterlife bullcrap. IT MEANS SOMETHING.
He's just a boy ;_; He's just a baby boyyyyyy
GIVE HIM HIS AUTOGRAPH BY THE END OF THIS SERIES SO HELP ME--
he spin thru the air like a meme
It's time for Horikoshi's favorite character: Bakucorpse!
You wanted the blue sky gone, but at what cost?
YES I'M LOVING THE VIBE FROM THE THUNDER SOUND
Oh...oh it hurts a lot to see in color, oh he's so pale...ohhhh no
THAT ENDING SONG? NOW? HOW DARE.
That horrifying feeling of emptiness at the end :)
The joy of watching others cry over this š
Katsuki is the actual symbol of hope I don't care what anyone says. All hope of victory is lost with his death and the only chance of winning comes from reviving him with the literal power of hopes and prayers and wishes. He is Hope Incarnate. A very Sassy (Soft Precious) Hope Incarnate.

Trapper John, M.D. Masterpost
TL;DR, Trapper John, M.D. is a criminally underrated M*A*S*H spin-off that I'd love to see given a shot at redemption. Links to watch it are under the cut.
Since I've been talking about this show a lot recently, I thought it would probably be a good idea to make it easier to find, since it's fairly obscure nowadays.
If you've never heard of it, I don't blame you. TJMD is a M*A*S*H spin-off that ran from 1979 to 1986, with a contemporary setting and generally more dramatic tone but the same irreverent sense of humor and at times surprisingly progressive writing as its predecessor. It follows Trapper John McIntyre thirty-ish years after the Korean War, contending with medical mysteries and changing times as Chief Surgeon of a major hospital in San Francisco.
The series has few direct references to the events of M*A*S*H (in any of its previous forms), but it features a compelling ensemble cast of original characters that take many tropes M*A*S*H fans will be familiar with in new directions. Especially if you enjoyed the first three seasons of M*A*S*H, I highly recommend giving at least a handful of episodes a shot. The quality of said episodes varies wildly, but there are some true gems in there. (IMDb and Wikipedia links for more information!)
The only catch is, to date, the series has never been officially released to home media or any streaming platform, and I haven't found any evidence that it's still in syndication, so it's not the easiest show to track down. Luckily, all 151 episodes were recorded by dedicated fans, so the series is watchable in (very nearly) its entirety if you know where to look. I did the looking so you don't have to!
This Google Drive contains every episode of the series (with the exceptions listed below) in standard definition, plus my work-in-progress episode guide, highlighting episodes that are relevant to longer story arcs and offering a non-exhaustive list of content warnings for especially heavy episodes. (I'm looking for another place to host them but Google is the platform I'm most familiar with.)
Episodes 1x01 through 3x02 can be found in better quality here, remastered by a fan by combining footage from separate English- and German-language recordings of the series. It occasionally lapses into German audio with English subtitles as the German dub contains some scenes for which the corresponding English audio has been lost. Here is an alternate YouTube link with lower video quality but exclusively English audio, containing roughly 2/3 of the episodes.
If you speak German, you can find that dub here with slightly cleaner visuals.
If you prefer to torrent, you can find those here:
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4 (the second half of 4x20 is corrupted, repeating the same ~2 minutes of footage for the rest of the duration)
Season 5 (5x11 is missing roughly the last 10 minutes of the episode)
Season 6 (the video is frozen for most of 6x23 but the audio is fully intact)
Season 7

Hetalia is my favorite anime ever. It as also a very weird anime that has quiteĀ abad reputation. I watched the entre thing in three weeks (6 seasons of 12 to 24 episodes) in january 2021, then wat hed the movie in february. The 7th season was rekeased in April that year.
The story is... inexplicable. In fact, it doesn't really have a story at all. Hetalia is a parody anime, excepts is parodies History. The characters are human versions of countries. Each episode is 5 minuts long, add to that the opening and ending, they are extremly short. Every episode consist of a couple of skits. As I said, it is a parody anime that bases itself on History, so it somehow has an educative scope. For example, it made me learn that Lithuania was unified in 1236.
Now how could I talk about Hetalia without talking about its humor ? It is... absurd. Nonsensical. The only thing you think about when watching this anime is "what the sweet fuck is that ?". It's the kind of anime you either obsessively love or hate with a burning passion. I am in the first category.
Another point worth mentionning : the difference between the japanese version and the english dub. It's affected by what I call the "Ghost Stories Syndrome". In case you don't know what Ghost Stories is, it's an anime about teenagers chasing ghosts in their school. The japanese version is perfectly normal, but the english dub it... well, it's quite parodic. Lots of jokes, improv... the most famous clip is one in which a girl brought her dead bunny back to life or something and tells its ghost "it could have never worked between us ! Not because you're a rabbit... but because you're black !" This one : https://youtu.be/RINHjxsPOEg?si=jtWIBZkkWZtzE7U-. See what I mean ? Well, it's the same with Hetalia, excepts that the original material is already unhinged. I watched the japanese version, but watched enough of the english dub clips to admire how insane the english voice actors were.
Hetalia started as a webcomic, then there was the manga, the anime, the movie and musicals. There are also at least two official games, a bunch of albums and various proeminent fan-creations (HetaOni, Auf Wiedersehen Sweetheart, Gutters, The Danish Slaughterhouse, 23.5)
Now, would I recommend this anime ? No. Don't watch it. It's hell in there. Most fans will tell you that they hate this show and it's for a reason : it traps you. Once you're in, you can't get out. They say there is a thin line between crazy and genius, and I am convinced that Himaruya Hidekaz himelf is that line. But that's my thing, I like crazy stuff :]

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 5-21: The Tiger Miraculous 2: YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD ESCAPE JULEKA DISRESPECT!?
Why the worst akuma? Why? Why? Why? Apparently there was a deleted cathartic apology scene and the whole battle was thought about being removed. What the hell?
You're going to London
Damn. Even Plagg is serious.
That feels OOC. I always saw Rose as wanting to be a children's doctor while Juleka, not being like other goths, would want to be a model.
Lila wants to rule the world. I can tell.
Straight to the shredder
Dumbing down Chloe? Really?
They're cooking
Dumb idiot teenagers. Or is this stretching it?
Wait, when did that happen? A few days ago?
There's the damn retcon. You can't fool me, even if you try to say she did it to spend more time with her girlfriend Rose.
Honestly even if you change the power to be more inline with that stuff that traumatized me on Deviantart I still think it'd be better if she caused the Third Impact instead.
Nuclear bomb
Cap
Oh no. Lila's deathtrap.
Even Sabrina is disgusted!
Villain Monologue
Love me a good surprise trap when the villain thinks they have it all!
Damn. Even if it was a few seconds, I'd still rather have that than the [@#!$]
I know we aren't going back to Corrupt Mayor Andre, but a girlie can dream.
And they're admitting Audrey is evil too, right?
Fuck this shit I'm out
I'm classifying this as a retcon. Also Juleka disrespect. She did this back in season 4 as well. And in the English dub she talked in full sentences back in the first three seasons, and I'd argue it's better that way.
I'm thinking about it and yeah, this basically is a middle finger to Crocoduel. The Juleka Respect episode. Were Lukanette and Adrigami not enough to insult that you had to go for one of my blorbos too!?
Wait, he's fired? Does the school board not exist in this universe?
This again? Can we get to Lila's secret lair if it's here?
Oh no. Just another identity.
My theory on Lila is that she's much older than she looks, and is actually a serial killer that kills other students and takes their identities for her own uses. Lila's mother last episode was actually Cerise's considering the same movie excuse, not to mention it would explain the wig: she thinks Lila's putting on the wig for her filming. I also assume Lila's planning on doing the same to Marinette and possibly even Kagami. As for the woman in the season 4 finale, I assume she's actually a friend of Lila's diplomat mother ensured to take Lila to the station, considering how busy Lila's diplomat mother clearly is.

Rambling Fan Review of the donghua Heaven Official's Blessing (English dub)
I just need to ramble for a bit after finishing the entire series (PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A SEASON 3!).
Quick Quick review version: I LOVE IT even if I didn't read the novels yet. Highly recommended.
Quick review version: Why is this so underrated?! Would me fangirling about it make Season 3 to arrive faster? I GET THE HYPE NOW!
Actual review/rambling:
So just to be clear on a few things so that everyone is on the same page:
I deliberately chose the English dub once I saw it was an option because my brain needs to rest from all my academic readings and it was too tired to read the subtitles;
There is nothing professional about this review - it's just me writing all my feelings after crying on the closing montage of season 2. Considering that I was emotionally crying on the closing montage of Season 1, I don't know why I'm surprised at myself for doing the same on the Season 2 montage;
I read some spoilers from the wikia pages because I want to know if Hualian gets a happy ending or if I have to write one for them;
I am horny for James Cheek's Hua Cheng voice;
Having said that I am so impressed with his vocal chemistry with Howard Wang's Xie Lian. When I read the novels (when life finally allows me to do so), their voices will be the voices in my head for Hua Cheng and Xie Lian;
I watched some of Kictor's videos on TGCF , specifically this video but I stopped at around the 12 minute mark since I was confused at first midway on the first episode on who was supposed to be Xie Lian's love interest. I initially thought it was going to be a love triangle with Xie Lian being fought over. I was impatient and I needed to know just the background details. I can confidently say that I think this video helped me in clarifying some things and I think the emotional reveals still work;
I am very aware that there were certain scenes that needs to be changed because of China's censorship laws and that the novels have more leeway;
A part of my brain is already making outlines for fanfiction for Hualian; and
The most important point - It is okay to disagree with me. This is just my opinion on what touched me the most while watching the story unfold.
Okay now to the fangirl rambling:
As I type this to the youtube loop of Red Supreme by Hu Xia I've got a lot of positively emotional feelings.
I LOVE how their love story unfolds. How they save each other and they complement each other so well.
I especially love how the story within itself shows why Hualian loves each other even though they may not expressly say it but it is so obvious from their actions to each other and their internal monologue that we are given every now and then.
Season 1 is about showing that Hua Cheng's reason for existing is his love for Xie Lian.
Season 2 is about showing why Hua Cheng's feelings are from genuine love for Xie Lian.
If anything their love story teaches an important lesson: Hope doesn't have to be perfect to be effective.
At the start of Season 1, everyone in Heaven has given up hope on Xie Lian being nothing more than a waste of space who has the audacity to ascend three times and it seems like everyone except Ling Wen who after informing him of his debt because of the damage his latest ascension caused was able to help him get a task to quickly get more credit to pay off the debt (to be honest I still don't really understand the currency of Heaven but maybe that's kinda the point that the story is trying to make in that in a place supposedly of paradise this should be ridiculous. Mortals believing themselves reaching heaven will grant them freedom only to be subjected to the current system in place). And it is this little piece of hope that leads him to Hua Cheng who is the very proof that he has managed to greatly affect someone by giving them hope when they wanted to give up. Xie Lian may think later on that he might have said something ridiculous but to Hua Cheng who wanted to commit suicide, his very existence is the hope he needed to change his perspective on life and it is because of Xie Lian telling him to make him the purpose of Hua Cheng's life that Hua Cheng finally got to live. Even if now he is a ghost, from the brief time he actually truly lived life, that experience showed him what are the things that matters the most. And him achieving greatness in the form of being one of if not the most dangerous calamity that Heaven had to face. So much so that he has killed 33 Gods and has gained a reputation of being someone who is essentially the God killer. He did all of this because Xie Lian saw him in a time when no one wanted to see Hua Cheng, much more help him. This is mirrored in Ban Yue who kept the hope that Xie Lian gave her when he shared with her his dream of saving the world. Something he is later embarrassed about but it was enough for her to do her best to change things, even when it involved the massacre within the city walls. And once again this is shown in Lang Qianqiu to whom Xie Lian was a mentor to (I forgot the word they used for mentor but you get what I mean), when he taught him that it is not the royal family but the people that makes a nation thrive and this lead to Qianqiu leading a peaceful reign and united the nations of Xianle and accomplishing what several others had hoped for.
And this is where these relationships begin to act as a foil to show why the Hualian relationship works.
Ban Yue was misguided and did not have enough experience to trust in herself to know the difference between right and wrong and the subtly gray area in between. While influenced by Pei Jr, she also isn't wrong for saying that she also had some responsibility. But she thinks that the beatings she took in her afterlife is her penance for what she did on that day. It was self-destructive because while she may not say it out loud a part of her feels like she deserves to be treated badly after what she has done. And it was only after they saved her - that she begins to start moving on.
When Xie Lian started to become a God that was hated, he was also self-destructive and feeling like maybe he did deserve it. It was during this time that Hua Cheng still in his mortal lifetime declared that he will never forget Xie Lian. While this may or may not have influenced Xie Lian into moving on from any past mistakes, we do know that he may have not confronted any negative feelings enough that he still has a mental breakdown when the truth is revealed to Lang Qiangqiu. And so Hua Cheng provided Xie Lian that space and person to not be alone while confronting these feelings and thoughts all the while also reassuring Xie Lian that he is not a bad person for what he has done.
Speaking of being viewed as a bad person, we also come to the flaw of Lang Qiangqiu's perspective on Xie Lian. Both Lang Qiangqiu and Hue Cheng admired Xie Lian for saving them and wanted to be like their savior. But there is a difference: Lang Qiangqiu despite having more interactions with Xie Lian as his student, grew up idolizing him so much that he did not notice that the image he made of Xie Lian in his head is either a savior who could do no wrong or the traitor who killed his family and all of their lessons and experiences together were lies so that Xie Lian could kill his entire family. This simplistic reduction of Xie Lian which had carried out even in Lang Qiangqiu's life as a martial God, is not the true Xie Lian who was somewhere in between. Seeing him as nothing more than a savior prevents him from thinking of the times when Xie Lian was the killer rather than the savior. And seeing him as nothing more than a traitor would make him blind in the things that Xie Lian was genuinely trying to teach him to make him better than generations before.
Meanwhile Hue Cheng only had a few but significant interactions with Xie Lian that doesn't simply reduce Xie Lian as either one or the other. He knows enough to know that Xie Lian is altruistic and would do anything that would make the world better. Whether that was disrupting a procession in his honor to save a bandaged child from being killed from a fall or what seems to be the massacre of the Yong An royal family with only the heir remaining, he knows Xie Lian has enough reason to do the things that he did, though he may not know all the facts of the story. And to talk with the God he loved when said God was feeling hopeless and was in despair because people now hate him and are destroying his temples made Hue Cheng realize that even Gods feels remorse, upset, tired, and hopeless. I think this is the moment that Hue Cheng truly becomes devoted to Xie Lian. I forgot who in the Hualian tumblr community said it but I have to agree that this very human moment of Xie Lian being in despair is the catalyst in Hue Cheng's life to be the person whom the God he loves could turn to when he needs support from someone. And what better support could a God have than the most devoted follower that would become the most dangerous and notorious Ghost King among the four calamities. Him being a ghost is also the very thing that ensures Xie Lian continues to exist. These two interactions he has had was enough to not paint a simple picture of Xie Lian in Hue Cheng's mind which allowed him more than Lang Qiangqiu more contemplation on Hue Cheng's part on who the actual Xie Lian is while also allowing room to get to know him more.
Add this to how he is disgusted by how Heaven is for allowing Xie Lian to be taken for granted and which made him realize that beneath the beautiful veneer it is still a system which seems to hinder rather than actually help both Gods and mortals alike - being the most powerful and dangerous Ghost to warrant being a threat to Heaven truly was the best option for Hue Cheng.
And I know this has already been said but it is beautiful that even now in the early stages of their relationship both of them wants to be there for each other. Xie Lian was always there in some form or another for Hue Cheng and Hue Cheng is always there for Xie Lian no matter what disguise or form he takes. They both complement each other's weaknesses. Xie Lian tends to overthink and sometimes doesn't allow himself to truly feel because of his religious sect. Hue Cheng while also calculating tends to take action more because of either efficiency or boredom. Xie Lian apologizing to Hue Cheng for giving him half-truths and thinking about the damages he caused while Hue Cheng apologizes for wounding Xie Lian was so beautiful in that they both love each other to think they deserve retribution from the other when it is so obvious they want their relationship to be repaired.
Hue Cheng is the one being that Xie Lian could truly be himself with and Xie Lian is the one being that keeps Hue Cheng living even though he himself is no longer mortal. And that is such a beautiful love story.

Today I want to talk about Duel Masters. Specifically: The Duel Masters anime from the early 2000s.
For those who don't know: Duel Masters is kind of the little brother of Magic: The Gathering. It was also made by Hasbro and there is a lot of fascinating history between the games. You can listen to Maro talk about it here.
The thing about the anime is that it is a parody dub that gets more unhinged as it goes on. Feels like watching an abridged series on YouTube.
For some reason the official localization team was allowed to do a parody dub instead of a faithful adaptation that takes itself way too seriously for its own good. As a result the official version of the English Duel Masters dub (which was shown on childrens' TV programs in the early 2000s!) is closer to Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged than Yu-Gi-Oh! (which would be the most obvious comparison).
I mean it: they didn't just go for some light dialogue changes. No, they cut tedious, tropey dialogue, inserted pop-culture references, added some 4th-wall breaking jokes about common tropes in shows like this and sometimes even heavily edited the footage for comedic effect. There is a scene where they put a bad disco filter over the video and make a character sing karaoke. Seriously, I can't convey how weird this gets at times. The only thing separating it from an abridged series you'd find on YouTube in the 2010s is probably the lack of swearwords. And that's not really the kind of thing you'd miss anyway.
It gets even more unhinged in the final season. I assume they knew the English version wouldn't be continued since the TCG failed to catch on in the west, so they just went all out. There is a scene pretty late into the series where two characters are dueling and one of them summons a creature, but the wrong summoning animation plays. The characters then complain about the editor they hired on Craigslist. Again: this was meant for children's television. Not the internet.
A lot of jokes went way over my head as a child and I took it super seriously, but rewatching it with a friend last year had me howling with laughter at times. Maybe it's not your sense of humor, but if you like silly anime parodies, I urge you to check it out.
Also, if you speak German, I recommend you watch that version. The localization team did a great job of adapting the jokes and the voice actors really leaned into it. Can't speak for other European versions, but maybe there is something there too. :D
Here is a random assortment of my favourite characters to pay tribute and hopefully whet your appetite:
First we have best girl Mimi, Kokujo, an edgelord and Matrix-aficionado and Jimmy Three-Horns from Iowa.
Yumama, who had her name changed from Yu Fua just so the dub could make "yo momma" jokes and EXTREME BUCKETMAN.
Knight, one of the most pathetic mentor figures I have seen in all of anime (I love him for it) and Dr. Root with his weird crow-mouth (peak or rather "beak" character design).
And finally Tom & Stu (might be the same guy, depending on the localization).
Alright, got that off my chest. Hope this was interesting to you. :)
I usually stick to posting (pixel) art, but I really wanted to share this with the world.

The year was 1996. Growing up in Australia one of our free to air TV channels (channel 7 specifically) had a kids morning program that would show random cartoons (shout out to anyone who understands when I reference Agroās Cartoon Connections). One particular morning I woke to a new cartoon. The animation style reminded me of Transformers and its theme song began with a catchy guitar riff.
š¶Fighting evil by moonlight. Winning love by daylight!š¶
Wait. What?! This is certainly something that Ive never seen before. Intrigued I watched with rapt fascination. There was a talking cat and a girl with beautiful long hair who was actually a secret super hero.
Her name was Sailor Moon.
I was 12 years old and completely hooked. I immediately started wearing my hair in pigtails (I was never able to grow my hair long and it was always terribly thin. Oh that hair envy never went away). I fantasied about how I was also a secret moon princess and one day my Tuxedo Mask would find me and whisk me away. I would look for Luna on every corner, but the talking cat never showed up.
I remember crying so hard when Serena and Darian (original English dubbing!) were separated and ached for them to be reunited (gee, funny how those kinds of obsessions never go away. Or just get transferredā¦). It was only ever season 1 and 2 that aired here and I was lucky that they replayed it at least three times over the years. I remember there was this one tiny shop at my main shopping centre devoted to anime (a rare thing in the 90ās and early 2000ās) where you could buy VHS copies of season 1 and 2. Unfortunately a poor high school student could not afford $36 a tape.
Years later when Sailor Moon Crystal started, the same English dub cast redubbed the entire original series as well. I eventually collected them and watched them all on DVD, and watched all the episodes I never saw (man, Sailor Moon Super S really rambles doesnāt it).
I loved Crystal because I thought the retelling in a more condensed version (without the filler episodes) got us to the point of the arc much quicker. And I like that Usagi and Mamaro didnāt hate each other to begin with.
With the second part of Sailor Moon Cosmos now watched it brings my Sailor Moon journey to an end (wellā¦not quite an end, I never did get around to reading the mangas). But as a 40 year old woman whoās been obsessed with this show since before I was a teenager, Iām always amazed I still love it as much as I do. So whenever anyone ever tells you āthis is just a passing fad. Youāll grow out of itā or somehow makes you feel disparaged for loving something so intensely, remember the things you like are for you and you alone and no one can tell you how to go about loving them.
So hereās to my first love. My first obsession. My first hyperfixation. The first couple that I desperately wished could be together, whose love never strayed far from my mind. Thank you for the journey!
#sailor moon#sailor moon crystal#sailor moon cosmos#sailor moon fandom#usagi tsukino#usagi x mamoru#mamoru chiba#Serena x Darian#youāre never too old to continue loving a fandom#and yes my hyperfixation transferred over to good omens#thank you for the journey

What are your favorite shoujo shows? I just started watching anime and would love recommendations.
AAAAAAAAAAAA! First of all, I'm sorry that this took two months to write up, but I am honestly touched that you asked me! Okay, so disclaimer that I wasn't deep into the anime scene until a few years ago (I'm a late bloomer), but shoujo is my bread and butter so to speak, so I'm happy to give some reccs! Note that this isn't ranked in any particular order, it's just as they come to me! Will give a summary and my thoughts on each. Also, most of these anime don't cover the entirety of the story published in their corresponding manga, but they're all a good starting point if you want to dive into reading the rest!
Putting under a read more because I'm more long-winded than I thought I would be
1.) Sailor Moon: The magical action-adventures of a teenage girl who learns of her destiny as the legendary warrior Sailor Moon and must band together with the other Sailor Scouts to defend the Earth and Galaxy.
Had to start with the original!! Now my love for Sailor Moon goes back to before I knew what anime even was. I caught wind of it when I was five years old and it was airing on TV for the first time, but I adored the show and my Princess Serenity doll. Now, please note that I really did not absorb much outside of the aesthetics and the insane dialogue of the 90s English dub before it stopped airing on tv and I forgot about it for a while, always meaning to get back into it, but never quite managing. Then during 2020 lockdown, my good friend and Sailor Moon expert @pollyannaisms started streaming little watch parties of Sailor Moon Crystal and boy did I fall in love all over again. I'm so happy that it came back into my life when I needed it most, tbh. It really is such a hopeful and optimistic series with some of the most lovely female friendships, one of the most beautiful and romantic love stories I've ever seen, and wonderful messages about loving yourself.
If you want a more streamlined plot with less episodes, I recommend starting with Sailor Moon Crystal since it follows the manga very closely and it's relatively short. 39 episodes across three seasons and then four movies - Sailor Moon Eternal parts 1&2 and Sailor Moon Cosmos part 1&2. Cosmos is FINALLY being released internationally on August 24th and I can't wait to finally see it, I've been rotting for it.
Now, the original 90s anime is also fantastic, it is just incredibly long with I believe 200 episodes and a few movies. It was airing as Naoko Takeuchi was publishing the manga so there's a lot of filler and the monster of the week format can get a little monotonous if you're trying to binge. I would say to take your time with it, but I do believe it's worth the watch because you get some wonderful character development episodes that are absent from Crystal. It's not perfect and there are some....odd choices made, but I do love it. Please note, that if you watch it in English through official streaming services, you'll be seeing a re-dub that Viz did with the Crystal cast when they bought the rights. It's a good dub! But man, I wish I could watch the original 90s English dub more easily (pirating such a long series is kind of an ordeal) because it has some of the funniest dialogue I've ever heard. Lots of people hate it, but I love the nostalgia factor and I personally find it hilarious.

2.) Ouran High School Host Club: Haruhi Fujioka is a studious girl who has recently enrolled at the prestigious Ouran Academy. One day, while looking for a quiet and peaceful place to study, she stumbles across a seemingly unused music room. Upon entering, Haruhi is welcomed by the members of the well-known Host Club: a club in which attractive boys amuse girls from across the entire school. However, when Tamaki Suohāthe founder and president of the clubāstartles the bright scholarship student, she accidentally breaks an expensive vase.
With repayment looking difficult for Haruhi, the Host Club members come up with the perfect solution to the girl's problem: work for the club and ultimately become a Host herself! Mistaken for a boy by her peers, Haruhi has to entertain various female students while coping with her fellow Hosts' extravagant personalities.
Ouran was the first anime that I ever watched on purpose at age 17, and it is very near and dear to my heart. It does come with some caveats, though. While this was the perfect starter anime for me (the friend who recc'd it knows me very well), it's not a good starter anime for everyone. It is incredibly over the top and is also a parody anime of shoujo romances, so some of the jokes might not land if you're a newbie. While I loved it at first viewing, I found it MUCH funnier when I rewatched it ten years later after having seen much more shoujo anime. Also, please note that Ouran aired in 2006, and while it was very progressive for the early 2000s, there is a lot of outdated terminology when it comes to LGBT topics, so tread with care and know that its heart was in the right place and we've come a long way in the last 20 years.
That being said, this series will always be one of my favorites. Aside from being insanely hilarious (and wildly out of pocket), the show has a lot of heart and characters who all genuinely love each other. It touches on feminism and gender and I credit it with making me bisexual.
3.) Fruits Basket: After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out...into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn't long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own--when hugged by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.
God. Fruits Basket is everything to me. This was the second anime I ever watched on purpose, recc'd by the same friend who showed me Ouran. She lent me her DVDs of the 2001 anime adaptation when I was 18 and it took me a few months to actually watch it but MAN. When I tell you that I was crying during the finale with my 8 week old kitten on my chest, and then when the 2019 reboot aired their version of the season finale, I was crying AGAIN with the same cat who was at that point 14 lbs and still snuggling on my chest. Full circle. It will never not be good. I would absolutely recommend that you watch the 2019 reboot over the 2001 version because it encompasses the whole story and has the budget for a much higher quality production. The animation is beautiful and I really like the music. The storytelling is phenomenal, thank you, Natsuki Takaya for my life.
Tohru Honda is truly one of my favorite characters of all time. There is so much depth to her, so much kindness and sadness and a heart full of love. She changes the lives of everyone she meets by just loving them unconditionally and has a legion of friends who would do anything for her. This is another story that features the struggle to love yourself, but it is also about the struggle to let others love you as well. The main romance is another top tier love story for me, and all of the side romances are compelling as well. I will warn you that the series deals heavily with familial abuse and with grief. For every laugh and heartwarming moment, there is a punch to the gut right around the corner. But god, it's worth it in the end. Fruits Basket is full of bittersweet moments of catharsis and it never fails to make me insane (affectionate). Fantastic characters and an excellent plot, it's one of the most compelling series I've ever seen.
4.) Kimi Ni Todoke: Sawako Kuronuma has had a difficult time fitting in, due to her shy nature and her similarity in name and appearance to Sadako from The Ring. On her first day of high school, Sawako meets the one boy who treats her like a normal girl-Shota Kazehaya. Through his selfless aid, Sawako slowly learns to come out of her shell and even begins to make friends for the first time in her life. However, with a new social life come social pressures. As she grows into her new identity, Sawako must learn to deal with such pressures as well as start to understand the unfamiliar feelings inside of her, especially in regards to the boy who made her new start possible.
This is probably THEEEEE sweetest thing I've ever seen. I watched it for the first time last year and I was legitimately crying happy tears in episode 1. If this is your first time watching, you're in luck! Season 3 just premiered after a 13 year hiatus! I've only watched an episode and a half so far, and I already love it so much. It has the exact same energy as the first two seasons. Sawako and Kazehaya are too adorable for words, and Sawako's two best friends are wonderful. This series does a great job of handling the real struggles of adolescents while also being full of optimism and love of all sorts.
5.) Kamisama Kiss: newly homeless teenager Nanami Momozono is trying to figure out her next move when she helps a stranger in need. Out of gratitude, he offers Nanami his home, a rundown shrine, and also his job as a land god. Now, Nanami must juggle high school along with the duties of a deity with the help of Tomoe, a reformed fox demon who reluctantly becomes her familiar in a contract sealed with a kiss. As the headstrong Tomoe tries to whip her into shape, Nanami finds that love just might have cute, pointed fox ears. With romance in the air, will the human deity be able to prove herself worthy of her new title?
This series made me CRAZY!!!!!!! Nanami and Tomoe are such a good nuisances to lovers story with a really interesting twist that I genuinely did not see coming! Nanami is adorable and Tomoe is the perfect house husband, I love them so much. This series is such a fun little romp through the supernatural world of gods, demons, and spirits, with an incredibly interesting cast of characters. The anime has two seasons and a few OVAs, but in order to see the latter, you're going to have to search the less than legal sites because they were never licensed internationally. Definitely worth it in my opinion to see the end of the story.
6.) Yona of the Dawn: Sheltered and spoiled Princess Yona is the only heir to the throne of Kouka. Yona's perfect world comes crashing down when a heinous act of treason threatens to erase all that she holds dear, including her birthright as the princess of Kouka. Left with no one to trust but her childhood friend and loyal bodyguard Son Hak, she is forced to flee the palace. Faced with the perils of surviving in the wild with a target on her back, Yona realizes that her kingdom is no longer the safe haven it once was.
Free from the shackles of naivety, Yona vows to do everything in her power to become strong enough to crush her enemies. With Hak by her side, she must piece together the remains of an ancient legend that might be the key to reclaiming her kingdom from those who conspired to steal it from her.
THIS SERIES MADE ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yona of the Dawn honestly ticks all of my boxes -- sheltered princess who needs to learn how to fight, political intrigue, betrayal, heartbreak, ancient magical legends, and a princess/bodyguard romance. The anime (and OVAs) are only a very small part of the story, but it was excellent regardless. The manga is incredibly long and actually just celebrated its 15th anniversary; it's regarded one of the greatest shoujo manga of all time. I had started reading the manga a few years back, and I REALLY need to get back into it, especially since it seems to be inching closer to the end. But if you love action packed fantasy adventures, this is the story for you!
7.) Inuyasha*: Suddenly finding herself in feudal Japan, schoolgirl Kagome teams up with half-demon Inuyasha to retrieve the scattered shards of a sacred jewel.
*Technically, a shounen, but has the vibes of a shoujo. I need you to know that last year when I had covid, I watched 50 episodes of this series and the first movie. And then I was compelled to make the following image:
Inuyasha is a long one so I suggest pacing yourself, but it is so so worth it! This is another action packed fantasy series with awesome characters, fantastic writing, and a heart stopping romance. The creator, Rumiko Takahashi was already an experienced mangaka when she made Inuyasha, and it shows. She's excellent at naturally weaving the romance into the overarching narrative and there's a maturity to her writing that makes this story about young people feel so intense and complex in the best way.
8.) Maid-Sama!: Misaki is class president of a formerly all-male school. A beacon of hope to the female students as well as teachers, she rules over the boys with an iron fist and a heart of ice. A popular male student stumbles on to her secret double life- working part-time as an upbeat and cheery waitress at a maid cafe! Misaki is forced to make a deal: spend some time with him, or have her hard earned reputation destroyed by revealing her embarrassing secret.
I will warn you, there are elements to this anime that have not aged well since its airing in 2010. A lot of it is very feminist in that early 2000s way! But it also includes that early 2000s brand of "problematic" possessive (and maybe a little too inappropriate) love interest and some outdated romance anime tropes. But all in all, I think it's worth a view. I really love Misaki as a character so much, and her relationship with Usui is fun and frustrating and very, very sweet.
9.) My Love Story!!: With his muscular build and tall stature, Takeo Gouda is no ordinary high school freshman. However, behind Takeo's intimidating appearance lies a pure heart of gold. Unfortunately for Takeo, his appearance does not bode well for his love life. As if his looks were not already enough to scare girls away, Takeo's cool, handsome best friend and constant companion Makoto Sunakawa easily, and unintentionally, steals the hearts of the female studentsāincluding every girl Takeo has ever liked.
One day, when Takeo saves cute Rinko Yamato from a creep on the train, he falls in love with her instantly. But with handsome Sunakawa around, does Takeo even stand a chance?
It's rare to see a shoujo series with a male protagonist, but Takeo is honestly perfect for the role and deserves everything good in the world. This is such an adorable anime with the sweetest couple on Earth and the best friend that anyone could ever ask for. Takeo and Rinko are both down so bad for each other and they're both adorable, awkward clowns. They were truly meant to be! Takeo's friendship with Sunakawa is also such a vital and lovely part of the series and shows that your platonic relationships are just as important as your romantic ones.
10.) My Little Monster: Shizuku Mizutani is apathetic toward her classmates, only caring about her grades. However, her cold view of life begins to change when she meets Haru Yoshida, a violent troublemaker who stopped attending class after getting into a fight early in the school year. He is not much different from her, thoughāhe too understands little about human nature and does not have any friends. Much to Shizuku's surprise, he proclaims that she will be his friend and immediately confesses his feelings toward her upon meeting her.
Because of her lack of friends and social interaction, Shizuku has a hard time understanding her relationship with Haru. But slowly, their friendship begins to progress, and she discovers that there is more to Haru than violence. She begins to develop feelings for him, but is unsure what kind of emotions she is experiencing. Together, Shizuku and Haru explore the true nature of their relationship and emotions.
This is a story about a boy and a girl who struggle with love and friendship. Opening yourself up to other people forces you to be honest with yourself.
Here's another "problematique" anime that I fell head over heels in love with in spite of certain things that didn't age well. I'm a simple woman, give me a cold girl and a feral boy who are obsessed with each other and don't know how to function in society and I'm sold. While Shizuku and Haru's bizarre, never-on-the-same-page romance is the overarching narrative, an important part of the series is the two of them learning how to make friends and find community with other socially dysfunctional weirdos. The friends that they make are just as interesting as the two of them and are equally important to the story.
This is another series that I highly recommend reading the manga for, since the one season anime doesn't get far enough into the story for a satisfying ending. Shizuku's revelations about herself and her character development in the manga genuinely made me cry, and Haru gets some good development as well. Their relationship progresses in a very sweet way as they work to understand each other and respect boundaries and communicate.
11.) Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun:
Chiyo Sakura is a cheerful high school girl who has fallen head over heels for the oblivious Umetarou Nozaki. Much to Chiyo's confusion, when she confesses to her beloved Nozaki, he hands her an unfamiliar autograph. As it turns out, the stoic teenage boy is actually a respected shoujo manga artist, publishing under a pen name. A series of misunderstandings leads to Chiyo becoming one of Nozaki's manga assistants and befriending many of her quirky schoolmates. This slice of life comedy follows Chiyo as she strives to help Nozaki with his manga and hopes that he will eventually notice her feelings.
I adore this series to the moon and back. Both adorable and absolutely HILARIOUS, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, is a wild ride from start to finish. The slow burn to end all slow burns, this ongoing 4-panel, slice of life manga has been ongoing since 2011, yet remains hilarious and so does the one season anime. This is another parody shoujo anime where some jokes might go over your head if you're a beginner, but I think it's easier to digest than Ouran, and would be a fine starter anime. This is another clown4clown romance, but Chiyo and Nozaki aren't the only ones. Their friends are a vibrant cast of characters who tend to fall into classic shoujo manga tropes (though not always in the ways you'd expect) and all have their own incredibly silly and off the wall will-they-won't-they romances.
This is such a fun series that never fails to make me laugh, and often makes me swoon. It's both ridiculous and relatable and you can't help but root for every single character.
And I'll end it there! I have quite a few other series that are near and dear to my heart but these are probably the ones I talk about the most. If you've made it this far, thank you for reading. Anon, I hope that you enjoy your adventures in shoujo anime!
If anyone ever wants to talk about any of these series, my inbox is always open. Seriously, I am always dying to talk about all of these!

Just as you wanted! A little Russian selected garbage on bakugan
Despite the fact that we consider the Russian translation of the anime to be really bad, we all agree that our dubbing is better than the English and even the original! ((I highly recommend listening to it on YouTube) The funny thing is that Masquerade turned out to have, damn it, three actors. The first of them, who voiced the first half of the season, is recognized as legendary and the best option for voicing this idiot. We are proud of this fact and laugh at other dubs because of it.
Despite the fact that we love the Russian translation and all its jambs, there is one mystery in it that we are not able to solve. For some unknown reason, the name "Masquerade" in our dubbing is shortened to just "Mask". This creates an untranslatable wordplay. If you don't go into details, then this turns out to be a pun meaning that in the Russian dubbing Masquerade is not happy. Like all of us in Russia.
Our part of the fandom is extremely proud of the fact that Masquerade is technical, Russian. Because of this, we have a lot of themed jokes and headcanons. For example, he DEFINITELY loves borscht, plays "Fool" (a local card game) and thinks our mems are funny (for example, about candybober and cooks). But we talk about him too much.
We almost always call Dan "Danchik" or "Danya" (Russian name)
We often refer to bakugans simply as "baki", which is consonant with garbage cans.
That's all I can remember so far. Wait for further information updates. Oh, and I'm sorry that we talked so much about Masquerade today - our part of the fandom really loves him.

Mild season five spoilers at one point, I give a heads up before hand.
I have to say, I'm very happy with the LMK casting of voice actors who are mostly known/most prominently coming from the anime English dub field.
I personally don't watch much anime. One of the reasons being I don't like a lot of the over acting that comes with it. Great for other people, but it throws me out of the immersion and just generally gets on my nerves (no shade to anyone who enjoys it, just not for me).
Having said that, the actors themselves are so talented and have such good voices.
Christopher Sabat, Azure Lion's VA, is All Might in MHA.
Matthew Mercer, as of Season 5, plays The Nine Head Demon and in the past was AoT's Levi Ackerman.
And then of course, SEAN SCHEMMEL. I've seen a lot more Dragon Ball (Siblings) than most any other anime, and I never really paid any speacial attention to Goku's VA, despite him being the MC. But now in LMK, wow. Impossible not pay attention. Monkey King is for sure one of my favorite characters and that feeling has only grown with each season as his character growth has been supported and elevated by the voice acting. Season 4's A Life of Mistakes lines?
"I did this for us!"
"Oh kid, you found me."
"I lost sight of why I was even doing it in the first place."
And quick Season 5 mention because I just finished it and this scene alone was definitely not the reason I started making this post in the first place:
The Scream. In Episode 9. Oh My God. I have an occasional habit of smiling while watching media, even if it's tense or sad because I'm enjoying it and appreciating the work that was put in. Not with this. The gutwrenching horror he put into that-
Fuck me I guess, made me sick/pos
And that's just the characters and their VAs I recognized based in my Generalized Anime Knowledge! Each of them have done dozens of more shows or projects.
As well as the rest of the cast who bring such amazing talent and skill. I don't know what they've all done prior (aside from Jack De Sena of course) but wow am I so happy they're apart of the show.
Billy Kametz as Macaque for the first three seasons was amazing. Rest in peace sir
Alejandro Saab who took over in 4 and 5 does such justice to the role (check out his song covers they're amazing and there's nothing like being able to imagine Macaque sing Peaches).
Jack De Sena? I loved him as Sokka, saw the possible corruption arc abilitiy with Callum, and was granted that dream in the form of MK and his subsequent Harbinger counterpart. This man has range and I'm so glad the show is allowing him to use it
Stephanie Sheh as Mei? Gaaaaaaah! I love Mei, and she brings such a vibrancy and life that just perfects the vision for the character.
Dave B. Mitchell and David Chen as my all time favorite old married couple, Pigsy and Tang respectively. Couldn't have asked for better.
Patrick Seitz as Sandy, Kyle McCarley as Red Son (who now that I'm looking at it, is *also* an anime voice actor) and Johnny Bosch as Ne Zha to name just a few more.
I don't know, this started out as a post about being able to enjoy voice acting from people who aren't normally in shows I would watch, but now I guess it's just an appreciation post.
I Love this show. The team, everyone involved, do such a good job . No one who worked on it will see this of course but just gotta say thanks for 5 Amazing Seasons, I've never been crazier about plastic monkies.

My opinions on each are below the cut. There may be spoilers for any of these
Vanitas no Carte/The Case Study of Vanitas: I'm halfway through the first season. I decided to watch it because I heard that people who liked Bungou Stray Dogs and Moriarty the Patriot also liked this. I think it's my least favorite of the three though. None of the characters really stand out so far and I'm a little confused by the plot sometimes. Noe is super cute and I love him. I do not trust his teacher one bit though. Vanitas comes off as a little annoying. He's a little too cocky for my tastes. Also, his interactions with Jeanne do not feel right.
Dimension 20: The Seven: I donāt like this season as much as some others. I just wish the characters were explored a little more because I do find them interesting.
Demon Slayer: Iām watching the Hashira Training Arc as it airs. Surprisingly good for a training arc. The moments between Tanjiro and the Hashira are fun and even seeing the other members of the Demon Slayer Corps is nice. I usually find training arcs a little boring, but I think this one keeps momentum because you know something big is coming.
My Hero Academia: I just caught up on Season 7. It feels a little like the Season 6 fight from how big it is. I do really like the fights in this show because the way Quirks interact and the way the characters use them is interesting. Seeing the thought process keeps my attention versus just blasting and punching each other. It can be a tad too much info dumping at times, but I don't mind. Even though the show has a big cast, I also enjoy seeing that every one of the heroes is playing a role in the plan. Honestly, seeing Hatsume, Shinsou, and Monoma was pretty epic.
Wind Breaker: I didn't finish Tokyo Revengers because I wasn't into middle schoolers fighting each other but this is fine with me for some reason. I think it's because I enjoy the characters more and the fighting is how we learn more about them. I watched the dub because I heard Bryson Baugus voiced in it (unfortunately, his character is probably my least favorite). The dub is pretty good.
Sk8 the Infinity: I love this show so much. This is my second time watching it and my first time watching the dub because I thought I should after watching so many clips of it. The English voice actors are amazing and it's so funny but still hits all the emotional points as well. All the main characters are great and so found family. I forgot how good the show is at making Adam creepy as fuck.

I gotten sucked into watching this anime on crunchyroll called attack on titan and it is one of the best animes I have seen. It kind of mirrors a bit of the lore of the walking dead but in this world the titans make the walkers look like child's play. There is a fucked up story plot who the titans actually are that was a shock when I watched all 4 seasons. The final season....damn was it hard to push through with pain of some of the characters I come to know and love. The English dubbed to this series was outstanding and I felt every performance and got me sobbing near the end.
Anyways I was wondering if the characters from twdg blended worlds in with attack on titan where do you think they will end up after graduating from the Cadet Corp.
In the show you have three places to sign up and devote your service to.
The scout regiment (have the wings of freedom symbol)
The garrison regiment (have the rose symbol to protect wall Rose)
The military police regiment (a horse or unicorn symbol)
And later after historia takes her place as queen of the walls there is a new regiment to serve and protect the queen in the military.
First off we want to apologize that it has taken us a long time to get to this ask. Life has been very busy over the last few months.
We know a bit about AOT. We watched a few seasons so we have a passable understanding of the world and lore.
The scout regiment: Mitch (he wants to take out Titans and be on the front line), Ruby (She's canonically filled with rage), Clementine, Minnie, Sophie, AJ (not really but tried to sneak to the walls to help and Clem sent him back), Carley, Gabe (he's on the front lines to prove himself to his dad), Javi (to protect Gabe and make sure he doesn't die), Lee, Tripp, Allison
The garrison regiment: Brody (is too afraid to be on the front lines), Louis, Mariana, Matthew, Walter, Sarita, Renata, Willy
The military police regiment: Lilly, Aasim, Mark
Queen's guards: Violet, Prisha
Is a Titan shifter : James
The Queen's Chef: Omar

Digi Dynamic Shipping Game
Send me two names among the following 12 and Iāll write a short analysis post about them:
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji
Whether canon provides input on them or not.
The first Adventure season is very adamant about making sure that the viewer identifies Sora as the "mom/big sister" friend of the group. This becomes mostly apparent when she is consistently protecting and/or taking care of Mimi and Hikari - but also Takeru. As I had pointed out in the post about the family angle between Sora, Yamato and Takeru, the latter functions as a bridge between the broken family dynamics they all appear to have at this point. Since Takeru is the youngest member of the group for the majority of the season, he is the most vocal about Sora basically being a motherly figure - which is even more blatantly stated in the English dub version where he straight up tells her that he doesn't "miss his mom so much" when she is around. And it makes sense that he perceives her that way, considering how she took everyone under their wing, including him, functioning as the voice of reason to prevent the others from fighting - especially when his brother is involved -, supporting them in the back however she could. And since Sora herself is struggling with her own sense of obligation, questioning her intentions and ability to love - is it really surprising that, the moment someone like Takeru finally reassures her, tells her that he likes her and doesn't want her to disappear, she immediately stops crying? Finding her composure again, regaining her positive outlook?
Both Sora and Takeru need validation, this becomes quite clear and is an ongoing theme between them through the course of Adventure - there is a reason why Takeru immediately becomes more serious and determined once Sora (and Taichi too) tells him to take care of and protect Hikari. He craves to be needed, he doesn't want to be a burden and actually being trusted by someone like Sora (and Taichi, again!), someone he greatly admires, is a huge boost for him. Maybe even the central motivation he needed (aside from Yamato's reassurance) to not give up, to "fulfill his responsibility", on his way to let Angemon evolve to HolyAngemon. Just like Takeru's words may have been a little stepping stone for Sora to activate her own Crest as well...
After Adventure, there aren't a lot of visible cues that indicate the same/a bigger level of closeness between these two (even taking into account that Sora and Yamato had been dating through the course of 02), but there are little tidbits here and there that do indicate care between them. It's when Takeru protects her from a Snimon attack in 02 (once again showing that he is responsible and protective!), it's when Sora calls him to ask whether he is okay in Tri (still showing off her caring attitude towards him!)...
One might argue that all of these framings are entirely familial, since there is so much focus on the family angle, especially when you keep the age gap of three years between them in mind. However, the reason why I chose the screenshot(s) above may indicate another meaning after all... Because similarly to my previous Daiora analysis, people tend to mainly focus on Sora's romantic potential with Taichi and Yamato - even though there may be other candidates who are potentially just as - if not more - emotionally compatible with her...
Whether I think why and how theyād work.
A famous callback Tri pulled on Adventure is the awkward silence between Sora, Taichi and Yamato in the fourth movie - mirroring the scene in which Sora runs away from the group, unable to tell them why she wanted to be by herself and why she considers herself "unable to love". In Tri, both Taichi and Yamato are at a loss, they have no idea how to deal with her. When they were still kids, all it took was for Takeru to approach her, thank, reassure and tell her that he "likes" her - which is probably why Yamato's instinct as a teenager at this point seems to be the following: "Shall we ask Takeru?"
Takeru, as opposed to his big band leader brother, has a so called "ladies-man-persona" in Tri, he's got a reputation of having dated several girls and appears to be very friendly with Meiko, much to Hikari's jealousy amusement. However, romance is not Tri's strongest feat - and just like we never learn whether or not Jyou's girlfriend is real, we also don't know what exactly Takeru has been doing all this time. He's famous for wearing a mask consisting of smiles and one may or may not be worried about him developing unhealthy dating habits that never result in long-lasting relationships....... OR we stop assuming the worst and take things at face value for once: Takeru Takaishi is a very kind person at heart, and even if he hides behind a mask, has a very big soft spot for reassuring girls around him.
Do you know who also has a soft spot for reassuring others while hiding their feelings behind a mask at times? Sora Takenouchi. They are both incredibly observant of the people around them and very keen to put them at ease, mostly through words - and just like we have seen above, they NEED that kind of validation. It's why Takeru notices that Sora got a new haircut and points it out to her, whereas his brother hadn't seen it at all. It's why Takeru tries to keep track on everything that is happening, not only because he's on his way to become a novelist, but because he cares and even if he probably still can't be honest about his own feelings - he knows that it doesn't hurt to notice and compliment others, he knows that he can make others feel good by being kind like that. Just like Sora is proooobably aware that her caring nature may not be the healthiest self-care approach, but at least puts smiles on everybody else's faces.
Again, this may not sound like the most stable foundation for a relationship, but I could actually see it working out for them. I'm not saying that I want them to "parent each other", but maybe together, they could reach a state where everything gets a little bit easier. Crying together, opening up to each other about how difficult it had been to always uphold that friendliness because they may have felt responsible, even if there were moments when they both would just have wanted to curse and scream... They both love their friends dearly, but may crave to allow themselves a shoulder to lean on. From someone who understands the struggles. I think it could be a great lesson for both of them as consenting adults, trying to live their own lives - having Sora tell Takeru that he doesn't always have to be the strong one to keep everyone together, that he is loved for who he is and that he won't be left again (because his abandonment issues may still be pretty strong). And simultaneously having Takeru tell Sora that she needs to look in the mirror to realize that she deserves to be loved for who she is as well (especially because her flight instinct might still be pretty strong). And that she deserves someone who actually TELLS her that...
Whether Iād prefer them as platonic or romantic ship.
I had thought about Takeru as analogy to Yamato before, simply because he is so much more vocal towards Sora. And while the age gap and mother angle may make things a little bit difficult and even though I had never thought too deeply about the romantic side of Sokeru... I can understand why they used to have their niche here on tumblr. Art of Takeru protecting Sora for once ("I am not a kid anymore!"), art of him letting loose in front of her... The appeal is definitely there and I am a big fan of mutually reassuring ships, so while I usually go for them platonically, I do have a bit of a fondness for their romantic potential now! So it would be nice to see how their relationship may pan out in canon in "the future".
