My mo gets mad when i go on my phone at family dinner, even just to check the time. Meanwhile, when I’m trying to have a normal or casual conversation with her, she’s so wrapped up in her phone its like i don’t even exist. She tells me to wait until she’s finished doing whatever she’s doing and gets mad at me when i get upset for being ignored.

Also, when I’m on my phone and she comes up to me to have a conversation i turn off my phone and put it down in order to talk to her. She gets mad and thinks i’m hiding things from her.

im so done with seeing articles about kids and screen time that doesnt mention parent behaviors even once. “kids are always on their phones” so are the parents! which the kids look to for how they should behave! ipad babies didn’t chose to only play on their ipads, thats what their parents gave them!

an anecdotal example: when i was a kid, all my parents would do in their minimal free time was watch tv and then they would be surprised when in my sister and i’s minimal free time we would also only watch tv/play video games. they scolded us for not reading books, but they never read books. they scolded us for not going outside but they never went outside.

the thing that drives me sooo crazy about the jinx/isha/cait/vi confrontation is that for vi, it was a lose-lose situation. either caitlyn misses & accidentally hits isha (child witnesses enforcer violence), or caitlyn kills jinx in front of a child who cares for her (child STILL witnesses enforcer violence). Either situation parallels vi’s own past trauma. In that moment, it wasnt about jinx (at least not entirely). It was about vi’s catalyst for violent change about to be recreated and forced upon this child. Caitlyn said she understood how vi felt seeing her parents die, but demonstrated in this moment that she doesnt and literally CANT. caitlyn has never been on the other side or enforcer violence. the child didnt even compute to her—isha was just an obstacle to be avoided, not a person that will carry this experience forever. But vi’s been on the wrong end of a gun. She understood that no matter what, no matter who got hit, if she allowed caitlyn to shoot, vi would be recreating her own trauma. i cannot wait for yor’s eventual backstory chapter because holy shit. if twilight’s was heartbreaking, yor’s might just send me into psychosis.

this whole idea of this young girl who is forced to grow up extremely fast and single handedly fill in the gaps her recently deceased parents left in her and her little brother’s lives. to drop out of school so she can take on dangerous jobs and ensure her brother is happy despite all the turmoil he’s faced. to have sacrificed everything she could’ve been to guarantee her brother always had a roof over his head, warm (although often inedible) food, and a bright future ahead of him.

then, for her to reach adulthood and feel all the work she did was for nothing because, in her peers eyes, she’s inadequate and bizarre. she doesn’t fit the societal expectations of a woman; she’s considered too masculine, too ditzy, too independent and a woman who doesn’t need nor want to rely on a man—all things looked down on by society at that time.

but then her inner conflicts are finally seen by loid who also had to grow up way too fast. and then she finds a family where she is accepted for who she is—shortcomings and all. and now it feels like everything she did to reach this point in her life finally has meaning: to give back to the next generation of kids what she did not have the luxury of receiving— a stable life without the constant threat of war looming over them.

in short… that chapter and its implications will destroy me.

I love that Cal Kestis just can’t help but trust people, even in a galaxy that’s hunting his kind. He makes friends with a nightsister who activity tried to kill him and he gives Bode a homing beacon after their first mission together. Greez comments on the fact that he’s always picking up strays and Cal just makes friends wherever he goes.

The longing for a family is strong with this one. Probably because he lost his previous one, the order, at such a young age.

I don’t typically make ocs in already existing media cuz I’m not one to add characters to shows, but oh my god httyd dragons are just so drawable. I’ve had my girl Prosper for about 5 months now and I cannot describe how much I love her? This fictional lesbian reptile has my heart. (And her mate Hark, but I’ll make a separate post for her :) )

She’s 56 years old, had her right wing completely torn off in a massive battle (she’s left wing politically, ahaha get it left wing because she only has her left wing so-) with the parents of Viggo and Ryker Grimborn that sent the night/light furies into hiding. (Which is my personal hc on how there are ‘no night furies left’). She is the leader of this ‘hidden colony’ of furies, and is basically just the wise, lonely grandmother to them all. She’s also just extremely sad in general. She in in constant pain and can’t fly. I mean I’d be sad too.

She’s also like extremely very heavily against humans, so in my delusional little brain when Hiccup and Toothless somehow stumble upon the hidden colony that’s in a cave (think Minecraft lush cave) she isn’t a very big fan of them funnily enough. Although she does hesitate to immediately fire upon noticing Toothless’ prosthetic tailfin, mainly cuz she’s like “yo tf what yo tail red for? Who is this red tailed child?”

I could ramble for hours about her swckjhisuchuweichiew and she ends up getting a prosthetic wing ‼️

Perhaps Deucey is the least interesting to me cuz the ponytail looks more like one of those fake ponytails to attach to your hair HAHAHA but he looks very handsome too!

He teased and you huffed again before hiding your face on his shoulder

He visibly softened as he strode to the lavish spot you both claimed as your "special spot" and sat you down

You laid back on the grass as the sun set onto you both and relaxed unaware of his adoring gaze

In his eyes no amount of beauty could ever compare to yours and he was sure that would always remain the same

He had long since decided you were the one for him even if he didn't tell you that

As someone who had a reputation as a "Prince" on the school that had girls flocking to him left and right none of them ever even measured to your thumb let alone to you entirely

However he didn't want to ruin the strong bond you both had spent years building so he chose to keep silent and adore you from afar unaware of how you felt the same

He was unaware of how much you truly admired him

How handsome you found him and how funny you found him even if his jokes were corny

How he would light up your world without even trying and how he wormed his way into your heart and left a permanent an irreplacable mark

Unaware of how much you wanted to hold his hand and maybe kiss his cheek like you seen couples do

"Hey Phainon" you suddenly got up

"hm?" he hummed back as a sign he was listening

"when we become adults i want to marry you!" you declare boldly which makes him choke on air

"HUH?!" he immediately sat up looking bewildered

"Do you even know what you're saying?!" he asked recovering from the sudden verbal attack

"we will get married when we become adults"

You say proudly

"Hey wait a second don't you mean i'll be the husband and you be the wife?"

"no i know what i meant"

"...if you say so" he says sceptically

"so what do you say?" you grin

"hmm...sure why not" he shrugs

"let's pinkie promise then"

"what are we?five?"

"just do it you jerk" you huff

"alright alright" He jokingly puts his hands up a in surrender motion

"good"

"then i ████ pinky promise i will marry you when we become adults" you declared

He swore his heart stopped with how stuffed it felt with emotions

"Then i too promise to be your husband when we grow up fully" he vowed

With that your pinkies linked as two teenagers unknowingly sealed their fate along with vows of a future they promised to spend together with the skies as their witness

Sometimes I just want someone to actually care about me as a person. I want someone to actually listen and care about my hyper-fixations when I ramble about them. I want someone to hold me and work me through my BPD episodes, no matter how irrational or out of the blue they may seem.

I just want someone to observe certain mannerisms of mine, to notice the little things about me, to take the time to understand the things that most people overlook.

I know I’m not mentally healthy.

But does that seriously mean I’m not worthy of being loved?

i like to think that the parallel between mike destroying the pillow fort el slept in and will destroying castle byers is actually very meaningful -

i like to think that the choice of a pillow fort was deliberate for hiding el. it's a childish object in the same way castle byers is, and the destruction of it symbolises a loss of a kind of softness and innocence that will never come back.

when will destroys castle byers, it's after trying to make things go back to how they were before he went missing. it's the emotional culmination of all of his angst that the things that have happened to him have happened, and that he's stunted in place when everyone else is moving on and managing to be straight. especially because castle byers was something he & johnathan had built to cope with their father leaving.

when mike destroys the pillow fort it's because he's lost el, and with her any hope of finding will.

it's notable that in the scene, he first stares at the door as if waiting for el, or even for will, to come back. he cares for el at this point as her own person, but i think in this scene he is angry because he feels stupid for ever letting himself hope that he could find will again, and that things could go back to normal - just as will felt trying to get the party to play D&D with him.

for both of them it is a deep embarrassment holding frustration and grief of losing their childhoods, and of losing each other, as two people who were boys together.

the fact that mike has this development so much earlier than will in the show is testament to how the trauma changed the both of them - mike grew up too fast, and will didn't get to finish growing up.

i think mike's actions in the show all follow on from here. his grief of losing will - first when he went missing, then when he came back and was wounded - was so much that he shut it out in favour of being angsty about eleven. and then once she came back, he couldn't understand why everything still felt wrong, and instead he rejected childish notions and preferred to think of his woundedness as maturity, getting obsessed with eleven in order to avoid doing things that reminded him of how things used to feel when they were still kids. this is why he is so mocking and cold to will, because he hasn't really processed how much will going missing shook the security of his world at such a young age, and he never acknowledges that it did. he also hasn't been able to grow up, he's just trying to hide it from himself.
