this started as a twitter post but it got way too long

i feel. INSANE. ABOUT FIDDLESTAN YOU GUYS. i’ll admit i didn’t get it at first, like the original concept seems kinda bonkers, they never interact! what a silly rarepair! BUT NO. I SAW A SINGLE PIECE OF FANART AND IT WAS OVER FOR ME. IM HOOKED. im sorry i need to talk about them

my favorite set-up for fiddlestan, and the one i see most people going with, is the idea that fiddleford comes back to ford’s house after ford’s already been sucked through the portal, so he finds stan instead. and thats like such perfect/devastating (depending on how you look at it) timing because their wounds from ford are both so raw.

i feel like this is gonna get long so. gay rambling under the cut

on the one hand, they get from each other what they never got from ford. or at least, what they lost from ford. fiddleford wants love, he wants his unwavering devotion to ford to be reciprocated. and stan, being such a deeply lonely person, can give him that! what he wants is companionship. he wants a friend, like what he had in his brother. he wants forgiveness. and god, fiddleford is one of the kindest, most forgiving characters in the show. if anyone will see where stan is coming from, if anyone can extend forgiveness and understanding where ford fell flat, it’s fiddleford.

and while this exemplifies just how deeply they would need each other in this scenario, when you think about how tightly they both clung to ford, there presents a very real possibility that one or both of them would feel like ford’s replacement.

stan is ford’s twin. people have played with the idea that fiddleford would see a lot ford in stan, even though they may not be very similar in demeanor. they look the same. and deep down, they do have similarities. alex hirsch said in a dvd commentary that there is more of ford in stan than he even realizes, and fiddleford would probably see that. not to mention just how deeply he would miss him.

and when stan has always felt like a worse version of ford, you can imagine he might feel like a stand-in, especially as him and fiddleford get closer. fiddleford, whether he means to or not, would definitely see his best friend in stan. he has his face for god’s sake!! and would stan just accept it? would he be upset to be seen in this light, to act as a replacement, or would he accept that he’ll always be second to ford? either way is just. DEVASTATING. for fiddleford to unintentionally confirm all of stan’s deepest fears and insecurities…

and then there’s what fiddleford is to stan. while i don’t think fiddleford would feel as deeply a replacement as stan does, he IS a big fucking nerd. and stan probably begged him for help getting ford back when he found out that fiddleford is not only a scientist, but worked on the portal in the first place. and he of course wants ford back too, but it wouldn’t surprise me if fiddleford ends up feeling like stan only keeps him around for that purpose and that purpose alone. to learn more about ford, to live vicariously through him as ford’s best friend. because stan is desperate to know more about him, to satiate this need, this wound of missing his brother for over a decade.

god and all the little things too… fiddleford being riddled with anxiety and stan being able to ground him, to knock some much-needed sense into him the next time he wants to pick up that memory gun. stan struggling to take care of himself, to see his own self worth, and fiddleford being there to make sure he eats enough food, reminds him to shower, helps wash or cut his unkempt hair. falling asleep holding each other, because they need that comfort, that warmth, that heartbeat, to feel okay enough to rest.

ugh you could do sooo much with these bitches it drives me up the wall. i feel so unwell just thinking about them. i could yap even more but i’ll keep that for another post

I never seen these two interact once, Even in fanart they barely are in the same art piece. I searched everywhere and only 3 fanfics of these two exist from 2013 and the last one being 2014. Maybe I didn’t look in good enough but like, I checked pinterest, here and pixiv (I’m pretty sure) and not a single art piece of them. Except one, ONE. It was comic of skywarp throwing some m&ms at perceptor and that’s it, Something everyone bothering perceptor. WTF, WHY IS THERE BARELY FANART OF THEM TOGETHER?? I know it’s because it’s some rarepair thing but most rarepair ships would still have at least fanart. There’s barely ships with skywarp, most being astrotrain and megatron, etc.. I’m pretty sure astrotrain and skywarp also barely interact so liek… IM CONFUSED. Or it’s because people like perceptor with yellow guy, Brainstorm i thinks. Did i miss something, Is everyone avoiding shipping them because something happens?? am I an idiot or something??? I can make my own fanfics and art but like, I can’t write a fanfic for shit. I can only do “Skywarp and perceptor kiss maybe idk” That’s it, That’s the whole fanfic for u. It ends there. I don’t mind ships of skywarp and perceptor being with others, I like the other ships but like why not skywarp and perceptor?? The only reason why i decided to ship these two because i was like a big fan of skywarp and perceptor, One day I think “What if skywarp and perceptor like each other” and I searched everywhere and nothing. I’m crying why, nothing for them uggghh I feel like i’m the only guy who ships them in the new big funny year. What the sigma no skywarp and perceptor fanart or fanfic for me to consume. I swear if I missed something, Was there a agreement in 2014 that everyone should never let skywarp and perceptor together, I think they would be awesome together, At least from what I watched from season 1-2 in g1. Maybe It’s because I didn’t watch season 3-4 but I refuse idk why, But then again didn’t skywarp go bye bye in the movie and become purple guy. Maybe I missed something in the Idw comics??? whaaaaaaaaaa……… I can’t read the comics anyway, too hard to find. Their ship name would also be hard. Skytor? Perwarp? Percywarp? Skyceptor? perwarp? Can I make the ship name since I’m basically the only one? Fuck it it’s gonna be.. MicroWarp or microwave or something. Maybe Telescope, telewarp or whatever. Their names suck, I hate u. Is there also a ship of perceptor and starscream? They’re both scientists. Startor. Fuck u perceptor pick a better name next time, this is your fault. Can’t find a good ship name for this guy. A year in this fandom and still have no art about this ship. I love you perceptor but yk. maybe they aren’t meant for each other, But even if they aren’t, there are still ships that don’t make sense but people openly love. Almost like thundercracker and soundwave, Aren’t they also considered a rarepair? Not saying thundercracker and soundwave together doesn’t make sense but about how they barely interact. whatever, don’t matter. It’s not like I was waiting for a year for this ship to happen. Maybe there’s too many ships and characters and that’s why. Or it’s perceptor’s fault, Fuck you perceptor.

IDK the whole "Fedal 2.0" thing just feels manufactured a bit by ATP marketing. Jannik seems like someone who's only really comfortable with the few people he's really close to & so in Fic Land I think that translates most compellingly to a friends to lovers thing with Matteo or Jack. Alternatively I think Janholger enemies to lovers is so fun. Angst/sexual tension of your rightful "destiny" on tour being "stolen" etc etc. Great hate sex potential.

I know Carlos pining over Jannik is a popular take but to be honest I think Carlos acts around Jannik the same way he acts around every man he meets (cuddly golden retriever) & people only notice it with Jannik because they're direct rivals. I honestly think the most fun Carlos ships are the more unexplored ones. Carlos & Grigor could be good (how are there no fics for them yet?). Or Ben? They vibe on the same silly level

dying, poor anon, based on the back-to-back asks you've been holding this in for a while, huh. re: your first ask, this is a safe space in the sense that i'm not going to respond with "but ACTUALLY it's REAL." at the same time you did just come to a known yapper with a prompt that is implicitly about metanarratives in sports fandoms.

because, i mean, that's the thing. this is a sports fandom. full of sports fans. the narratives on the court aren't just a vehicle for the personalities off the court—they're why we're here. and love it or hate it sincaraz is one of THE narratives. partly because, yeah, tennisworld is desperate for the next fedal.¹ but also partly because they play insane and unbelievable tennis against each other. we are always talking about miami and indian wells because no matter how many times you watch those points they never get more normal. 

like, the "carlos pining" take—you're coming at it from the perspective of how they interact backstage, so to speak. others are coming at it from the perspective of carlos talking up jannik as his biggest rival for two straight years, when he was the youngest no. 1 in history and jannik was Just Some Guy. "because they're direct rivals" IS the answer. (i know it wasn't actually a question.)

this is obviously not everyone's reason for shipping it or the only reason they ship it.² (and beloved mutuals please do NOT start an indirect back-and-forth through my inbox of "but actually carlos DOES treat jannik differently here's 39841038490 specific pieces of evidence" because i have a real job to do today.) just, it's not incidental to the appeal. it is the appeal.

just cut a gazillion words about early fedal and the future of tennis. ok your real message here is that the things you find most compelling have been underaddressed by fandom. this is fair. as someone who enjoys several ships that have nothing to do with rivalry or metanarratives and everything to do with They Just Really Like Each Other, i get where you're coming from. honest. i think with jannik/matteo in particularly you're looking at a promising future, like, we're in a shipping boom right now! whether that will translate to fic is an open question. (i feel like the jannik/jack miniboom didn't result in that much fic but i also didn't go looking because i am not compelled by jack draper. sorry beloved mutuals.) i believe in the power of matteo's face to deliver but i think maybe promptfest could be an early bellwether—there were quite a few jannik/matteo prompts.

(i'll also take this opportunity to note that i doooo hope that promptfest will produce some rarepair fills and prompt amnesty is ongoing. once again please don't flood the form with 20 prompts but if you want to drop one or two for a ship you can't believe is missing from the table…)

size is a challenge here. if the current iteration of tennis fandom were bigger sincaraz would still be the main course but at least you'd have other things to eat as well. rarepair would mean "ugh there's only a dozen fics in the tag" instead of "ugh there are zero fics in the tag." however that is somewhat out of our hands.

so the real, actual solution is… be the change you wish to see. this is not a very satisfying answer. believe me. beLIEVE me. i understand. but after MONTHS OF LABOR³ i'm starting to see the fruits of my rareishpair efforts and i believe you can too. take your character insights and flesh them out a bit, string a couple anecdotes into a narrative (optional), add some illustrative visuals, boom. mayafritzes' janholger post totally sold me and i think a lot of other people! (would loooove to read jannik/holger/invisible presence of carlos alcaraz fic.) of the ships you mention i would particularly enjoy seeing you or someone else do this for ben/carlos. :D if you can seed the ground with a fic that also helps. 

sorryyyyy i realize you're just venting and not asking for either deep analysis or action items. this is the risk of coming to my askbox though. 😔 best of luck finding food that is better suited to your palate, i hope you don't have to cook it ALL for yourself. :(

So if Threshold happens to different Trek crews, who gets who pregnant? Voyager is one of the few shows where it makes heterosexual sense, (for lack of a better word, "sense" not being the word anyone would use to describe threshold)

So for Voyager, it being Paris (pilot) and Janeway (captain) makes sense through that lens. Paris, sure, because he is a pilot. We could pick a Science Guy to do it, but then it might be B'Elanna who does the flying fast, and then who is she going to kidnap for Lizard Sex? Harry? ... Yeah it'd be Harry. Anyway once you've picked Paris, you've got to figure out which woman is funniest to have him abduct into Lizardry. B'Elanna? No, not funny enough. She'd be a Klingon lizard and beat him up instead of mating, even if they did get married later. Besides, what if she evolves into a super-advanced Klingon, not a lizard? *claps* PUT TUVOK ON THE SHUTTLE. Kes? No, they already did a Tom v Neelix episode. Seven of Nine isn't on the show yet, so Janeway it is.

Ok so for other shows, we gotta pick a pilot or science guy (who might be screwing around with transwarp, and thus get Lizarded) and someone they could turn into a lizard to have babies with. The show is assuming heterosexual pairings here, but we know about things so we are not so limited.

The original series: as much as I'd love to say Sulu and Uhura ("I'll save you, fair maiden!" "sorry, neither"), I think TOS was much less of an ensemble than later Treks, so it'd need to be Spock. Spock is doing some science stuff, he gets hyper-evolved, and he picks someone else to hyper-evolve and turn into his lizard bride. As much as I want to say "Kirk", I think it's more likely that he runs off with Uhura and then Kirk has to rescue them. Kirk was always about being the one who rescues people, having the Enterprise come rescue Lizard!Spock (is that antisemitic?) and Lizard!Kirk and it's called commanded by McCoy? Nah.

TNG: the direct analogy to VOY would mean we have Wesley and... Picard? No, no, and no. Sorry. Frankly, we already had this plot on TNG (Genesis), and canonically the answer is Worf and Troi. The problem with it being a pilot thing is that Wesley is a child and Data (the official science guy) is an android, so he can't really be hyper-evolving. We could go with Geordi, the other Science Guy, but then we've got the image of a black man kidnapping a white woman. Uhhhh no. We already did that episode and it is an example of Deep Shame for the show. So Worf and Troi it is.

DS9: so this is what inspired me to make this post. We all agree Sisko would be a damn good father to his lizard babies, but would it be him? If so, with who? You could have it be Dax, and she lizards first and kidnaps him, which makes some sense given that she's a Science Guy. But you also have to consider Weird Guys. Every Trek series needs a Weird Guy so that whenever an ancient alien artifact turns the whole crew into Muppets or whatever, they can be the one who isn't affected and can thus solve it. This is all to say, Odo/Kira could be done. We've had a few episodes where he's been shown to do very extreme things out of his pining for her, so it makes some sense. Odo/Quark would be funnier but given how the DS9 writers handled Profit and Lace, I really don't want to see them do a gay mpreg episode.

ENT: the series with canon mpreg! Direct translation of would be Mayweather/Archer. Mmm. Probably not. I think it's gonna be a rarepair: Trip/Hoshi. Trip/T'Pol is too canon to be funny. The next best option is Archer/T'Pol and that's just kinda bleh. It makes sense but it's just the kind of thing they'd do and it'd be bland. We can do better. Honorary mention: Trip and Reed.

I've not watched enough of the New Treks to have an opinion there. Maybe SNW: Ortegas and La'an. Don't ask why.

Just rediscovered spyjh scenes I had COMPLETELY forgotten about in the reincarnator island arc and I am THROWING UPPPPPP AGHHHHH they're soooo. How is there STILL so much material for me to talk about in regards to this insane rarepair. Ok.

Second dramatic as hell enterance, even more cunty than the last. Also he just...shows up when YJH CALLS???? despite the probability cost?? even dkos can't do that in 0th round.

Anyway they had multiple conversations off screen between this screenshot and the last... 'playing along with your schemes long enough' SP was totally stringing him along by drip feeding him cryptic and unhelpful information, like he does in the next part of this conversation (while also taking the opportunity to mock him, he's such a cunt <3)

Oh rarepairs huh? Idk if Lenny x Jenny counts but I'd love to have known more about Jenny and how they felt about each other

I guess my biggest rarepair is Sean x Charles. Sean definitely has a thing for that man. And though he gets on Charles's nerves with his incessant talking Sean's got more respect for him than a lot of people when it comes down to it. He often expresses himself by being crude and annoying, however, so I'd find it interesting to see how they'd navigate a relationship. I think Charles could warm up to Sean romantically if Sean would show a little more restraint. They seem like the pair to get together for one night and then pretend nothing happened afterward, in my opinion.

I do actually also like Sean x Mary-Beth. Mostly from the stagecoach robbery, we can see Sean being concerned and protective over her, and he even shoots the guy being a bit creepy towards her even though he said he was just putting in a warning shot. Could very much also be seen as pure friendship, respect and care for his fellow gang member, but the idea of them being involved romantically is neat to me.

OH AND Molly x Karen, because enemies to lovers. In a world where Molly learns to be less stuck up and Karen learns to be less bitter, idk I just think it's really cute for them to realize they have more in common than they think they do. They're just young women who have trouble with men who they don't feel truly loved by, and I think they could bond over that at first. Plus I find it kind of amusing for Karen's next romantic interest to be the other Irish person in the gang. Shit now I'm thinking about it too much and I wish there were more Molly x Karen fics out there. *Proceeds to go digging through ao3*

Arthur x Albert Mason isn't really that rare, but with Charthur being the dominant ship in the entire fandom it outnumbers the ship a hundred to one and I'd like to see more of it in the tags.

Rarepair Sam/Shane joja dorks

I love Sam and Shane. If they dont have a ship name Im calling them Sunnyside (for nonenglish speakers, “sunnyside up” is a way to cook eggs without flipping, so its both a reference to eggs and the sun)

Toxic or nontoxic, I love it. Give me the daddy issues angst. Give me the power imbalance. But also could be sweet! Shane learns to love life again by seeing it through Sam’s eyes. If I was actually going to write it I think I might lean more toxic, I love leaning into Shane’s worst traits (wonder why there are no Shane fics on my main account hmm?)

BUT with these asks Ive been making them all sweet and shit so let me try to think of something for that. I’ll make the age gap like 7 years (23/30 maybe?).

They’ve been friendly enough as coworkers for a while. Sometimes Shane will even humor him by engaging him in conversation at work. He actually doesn’t seem like a bad guy. Funny even, if you like a deadpan sort of humor. But he’s closed off anywhere else. On Friday nights Sam watches over the pool table as Shane gets so drunk he stumbles home.

He worries about him. Despite Shane’s reputation around town as someone to steer clear of, Sam cares about everyone. And he knows he’s one of the few people Shane will talk to at all.

Things seem to get worse with his drinking. He’s calling out at work more. Coming in late.

Sam starts to come out at night to watch and make sure he gets home okay. He’s usually up when the saloon closes anyway. On nights where Shane’s stumbling badly, Sam goes out into the cold and follows him just in case. You never know with alcohol poisoning. He’s seen it at a party once and never wants to see it again.

But he will if he has to.

One bad winter night he’s following Shane as he does, when they round the corner and he just disappears on the other side. Sam looks around, it’s exceptionally dark on this path into the forest. He’s considering turning the flashlight app on on his phone when he suddenly gets pinned against the nearest barren tree.

“Why the fuck are you following me?” Shane hisses, the alcohol thick on his breath.

“Shane what the fuck!” His heart is racing. Has Shane ever been this close to him before?

“No, you what the fuck! Answer me!”

“I’m just worried!”

Shane groans angrily and lets him go. “Perfect! Of course you’re fucking worried. Let me just add you to the Yoba-damned list of people to disappoint then. No- just don’t okay? Do me a favor and don’t.”

Sam doesn’t know what to say. Despite being a big guy, he doesn’t like confrontation. Never has. He just wants people to be happy.

But Shane seems to want an answer. He’s still standing there, huffing cloudy breaths into the night and staring.

So Sam meekly says what he is thinking. “I just want everyone to be happy.”

An explosive sound comes out of Shane that has Sam flinching, certainly the beginning of a rant, but then he stops as suddenly as he started. He deflates. When his voice comes out next it is weak and broken.

“Of course you do, Sam.” He sighs, and it sounds so sad Sam almost wishes he was angry again. “But maybe some people aren’t built to be happy.”

Sam steps closer to him, just wanting to see into his eyes again in the near darkness. “I don’t believe that,” Sam whispers, Shane looking up to meet his eyes again. “I don’t think you really believe that either.”

“No, you’re right… I think I was happy once. But that might be even worse. If I had never been happy this might hurt less.”

Shane’s eyes are glassy. He’s close enough to hug and Sam is tempted to, but resists. “What happened, Shane?”

Sam bites his lip, tempted to make a joke. When Shane meets his eyes again though, he can't help it. "Actin' real sixteen to be thirty," he mumbles with a smirk.

Shane elbows him but laughs. "Shut the fuck up. Idiot."

"I'm right though."

"So am I."

"Yeah, I can be an idiot and also right."

Shane laughs again and shakes his head. "Yeah."

"So that's what's got you like this then? That you're turning thirty?"

Shane bites at the inside of his cheek. "Just puts things into perspective, I guess."

Sam nods, though he doesn't really understand. He looks up into the night sky as the silence stretches, eyes hopping from star to star. "D'you think I'll get like that when I'm thirty?"

Shane scoffs, so Sam looks down at him again. "Hard to imagine you ever being anything but nauseatingly positive."

Sam's smile widens. "I'll try and take that as a compliment."

"Course you would," he grumbles. After a moment of silence he speaks again. "Sam?"

"Hm."

"I don't actually want you to stop, by the way."

"I know." Sam leans forward and opens his arms, half-expecting to be pushed away. But Shane hugs him. He leans his head on Shane's and murmurs, "I won't."

Can I just say I love the shipping scene in HLVRAI? Like, I've never been in a fandom where it's been this CHILL before. Each ship has appeal and could actually work (unless you're intentionally being weird about it, but I haven't really encountered those people, this is personal experience here), and it's just so-!

Frenrey is wonderful because they're both silly, if those two met under different circumstances you KNOW they'd be friends, and it can be about forgiveness and healing. I love that.

Freelatta is great because Tommy and Gordon always have each others' backs, and those two will see each other through thick and thin.

Sodashipping is delightful because Darnold and Tommy just click SO WELL, they have a lot of common interests outside of soda, and you guys who give Darnold a dog as well as so correct about that omg.

Darzen is really fun because these two have never once interacted in canon but so easily could have. Like Forzen probably had to go through that area to progress as well, what hijinx would they get into?

I don't see Gordon and Forzen being shipped just the two of them often (shoutout to hlvrv, that was unexpected but really fun), but that's another instance I could also see. They're polycule a lot of the time, which hell yeah.

Tomrey is awesome because of the pre-established friendship between Benrey and Tommy, how even down to the final wire Benrey didn't really want to hurt Tommy. Outside of shipping their relationship is just wonderful.

Darnrey is also fun in that regard. Gamer partners.

Benzon as well. This one really depends on your interpretation of canon but it's always fun when it pops up again. The history between those two has so much potential. I don't personally ship this one but it's always fun to explore.

Another I don't have the name for but Darnold and Gordon. Orang. And just the unconditional support from Darnold- wonderful.

Frenreylatta is just delightful. Like you take all the best parts of frenrey, tomrey, and freelatta and put them in a blender and you get pure wholesomeness. I fucking love this one. Absolute winner. And I also really love how usually depictions of this one don't hide the part parts, either, but it's still a generally more supportive relationship overall. Five stars.

Frenreylattarnold is also just *chef's kiss*. Darnold just brings a vibe to the group they don't otherwise have. It simultaneously makes it more chill and more chaotic.

Again I don't know the name, but add Forzen into the mix and you have a really fun, complex dynamic of people who just love each other. I'm so fucking here for it.

I know I'm missing some but AOUGH

I can't not talk about my favorite ship here, though. Boomer sweep. Boomer wins. Every time boomer pops up on my feed I get so fucking happy. Chaos grandpas who fucking love and support each other SO unconditionally. They work through their trauma together while committing crimes. The stark contrasts between them also aid wonderfully to their dynamic, like how Coomer doesn't like video games while Bubby is a speedrunner. They each have their own lives but they want to spend them together. NO I'M NORMAL DID YOU KNOW THAT I SWEAR I'M NORMAL-

Gubby's a fun one, too, and from my understanding that one's a rarepair. But yeah, putting Bubby's firey personality next to Gman's calm and collected one creates a lot of fun opportunities, and helps explore the differences between Half Life and HLVRAI Gman in more in-depth ways. It's always fun when it pops up again, I love it. (Shoutout to catloki for this one.)

I don't member the ship name but adding Coomer in there is also really fun. Chaos grandpas take over the world together <3

I haven't seen Coomer and Gman being shipped individually before but I could also see that one. Coomer would be able to simultaneously meet Gman where he's at while also encouraging him to step outside his comfort zone, and also probably being a terrible influence on him gGFDHSJAKGF.

All this to say I'm not really a shipper. These guys could be just friends and I'd be okay with that, which I guess lends itself to the RTVS crew and how well they all stepped into character. Everyone just has dynamics with each other, that come out naturally, and makes it easy for us to really see where each relationship could go.

“Why he does this every Friday I have no idea” Claudio says as he walks down the hallway to the principal's office. He has to leave class early so he can pick his best friend Mox up from detention. He might not like having to bail Mox out every Friday but they've been friends for nearly twenty years and he'd go to war with that guy if Mox asked. “Hey Claudio, wait up!” someone says from far away. Claudio hears the familiar tapping of boots on linoleum and sees it's Mox's boyfriend, “Hangman” Adam Page.

Claudio waits until Adam is right beside him. “Jesus, you're hard to catch! Gimme a minute” Adam says as he tries to catch his breath. “I assume you're coming with me to pick up Mox again?” Claudio asks, causing Adam to laugh. “Don't I always? Wouldn't be a good boyfriend if I didn't bail that dumbass out every week! Plus getting out early guarantees us the best spots in the library during free period!” Adam says excitedly as they start walking down the halls.

Free period is one of Claudio's favorite classes other than Home Economics cause he gets to catch up with friends, work on some homework and most importantly hang out with his girlfriend, Harley Cameron. Him and Harley have been together for five years and she's made his life exciting every time he's with her. She's the splash of color he needed in his boring life and he's loved her ever since. “Umm hello? Earth to Claudio!” Adam says, snapping Claudio out of his thoughts.

“Oh my apologies! I spaced out! What were you saying?” Claudio asks embarrassingly, causing Adam to laugh. “I was asking if you think Mox would like my outfit today?” Adam asks as he shows off what he's wearing. He's currently wearing his steel tipped cowboy boots, denim bell bottoms with a rose design on the side and a white tank top with flames on the bottom. “I'm sure he'll love it Adam. Is the shirt a homage to when you “accidentally” set a trash can on fire?” Claudio says with a laugh, causing Adam to blush.

“It was an accident! I thought I stubbed the blunt out! I still feel bad about it!” Adam says embarrassingly, causing Claudio to pat him on the back to comfort him. “I'm sure it was Adam anyways we're here” Claudio says as they make it to the principal's office. Claudio knocks on the door and pops out vice principal Christopher Daniels. “Lemme guess, you came to pick up Moxley?” Mr.Daniels asks tiredly, Adam and Claudio nodding in response.

“Of course you are… Moxley! Castagnoli and Page are here! For the billionth time this year” Mr. Daniels says under his breath as Mox walks out the door. “See you next Friday Mr. Daniels!” Mox says with a smirk, causing Mr.Daniels to let out a groan and shut the door. “Thanks for bailing me out like always man” Mox says as he fist bumps Claudio. “My pleasure Mox but you're forgetting someone else came with me to help” Claudio says sweetly as he mentions to Adam.

You're gonna ruin my outfit!” Adam says with a laugh as Mox kisses him then puts him down. “Sorry princess but I haven't seen you since lunch and now that I'm looking at you… you look pretty darn cute right now” Mox says affectionately, causing Adam to blush. “Stop looking at me like ya wanna eat me!” Adam says as Mox smirks at him. “With the way you're dressed it makes me wanna get a second detention” Mox says seductively but before he does anything he gets stopped by Claudio.

“As much as I would love to third wheel this sexual act I believe we should start walking to our lockers so we can meet up with the others” Claudio offers so he doesn't get severely traumatized. “Oh fuck you're right! We gotta get our seats in the library before those Elite snobs do!” Mox says as he fixes his leather jacket and they all start walking down the hallway. “Care to explain why you got detention this week?” Claudio asks, curious on what bizarre thing Mox did to get sent there this week.

“I may or may not have slashed Mr.Callis’ tires on his new car” Mox says with an innocent look as he holds Adam's hand. “That new blue Lamborghini he just bought?!? You fucking didn't!” Adam says excitedly, Mox nodding in response. “You're gonna ruin that man's life until we graduate aren't you?” Claudio asks, receiving a devilish smile from Mox in return. “He deserves it for trying to fail me in woodshop because making wooden nunchucks isn't safe on school premises or some shit” Mox explains, causing both guys to laugh.

They hear the bell ring signaling that class is over and walk a bit faster as students are filing out. “Hey guys! Over here!” Wheeler yells from the lockers as he waves his hand to get the three's attention. They make it to the lockers where Wheeler and Bryan are standing. When they make it to the lockers, Wheeler hugs all three guys with excitement like he does everyday. They would protect Wheeler at all costs if needed.

“You guys excited for free period? I got a new pack of baseball cards I've been waiting to open to show you guys!” Wheeler says excitedly as he shakes the pack in his hand. “You know I'm excited for anything that doesn't involve homework! Also put those away before someone tries to steal them!” Mox warns, causing Wheeler to put the pack of cards back into his bag. “Ok! Geez! You're such a big brother but anyways you guys like my outfit?” Wheeler asks as he twirls in place.

He's currently wearing a pink sweater with cherries on it, a pink and white checkered skirt, white see-through leggings with white bows and pink converse. “You look absolutely adorable like always Wheeler” Claudio says, causing Wheeler to blush. “Yeah, did your sugar daddy buy it for ya?” Mox asks, making Wheeler laugh. “Yeah he did but don't tell Bryan though because he'll get mad” Wheeler says jokingly, receiving a gentle slap on the ass by Bryan in return.

“I love how I buy you cute things yet you still act like a little shit” Bryan says as Wheeler giggles and gives him a kiss on the cheek. “Think you can find me a sugar daddy Wheeler? I think I milked mine dry a while ago” Adam says teasingly, causing Mox to growl at him. “Keep talking like that and I'll make your ass sore for the rest of the year” Mox says seductively, making Adam tremble a bit. “Maybe I should join the cycling team considering I've been third wheeling almost the whole day” Claudio says jokingly, causing everyone to laugh.

“Speaking of that… where's Harley?” Wheeler asks curiously. “Yeah, she's usually with us and ranting about what weird thing her hamster did the night before” Mox says as he looks around the hallway. “She was in the art room with me before I left to pick you up Mox. I wonder what's taking her so long?” Claudio asks worryingly, but he didn't have to worry long before worry turned to annoyance when he heard two familiar voices of people he didn't like.

“Helloooo Claudio!” Mariah says in a sing-song tone that sounds like nails to a chalkboard. “What are you guys doing? Having a jerking session with your pathetic packages?” Mina asks teasingly with a laugh. “Shouldn't you two be on a post scaring away the crows?” Adam asks, which causes Mariah and Mina to glare at him. “Shouldn't you be shoveling pig shit somewhere you filthy hick?” Mariah asks with a sneer. “I don't think he understood you Mariah! You probably need to say it slower so his tiny brain can understand!” Mina says, causing both women to laugh.

Adam felt himself start to cry as Mox pulled him to his chest and growled at the girls. “You two came over here to bother us for a reason so might as well spit it out now before you waste any more of mother earth's precious oxygen” Bryan says with his arms crossed. “Ugh fine you weird little goat man! Claudio, your freaky little girlfriend was in the art room right?” Mariah asks with a devilish smile. “You better go check on her! I heard she had an accident!” Mina says with faux worry.

“Accident? What kind of accident?” Claudio asks, worry setting back in. “That's for you to find out! Anyways ta-ta weirdos!” Mariah says as she pulls out her lighter. “Later losers!” Mina says harshly as both girls walk away, setting their sights on an unsuspecting Kris Statlander to set aflame nearby. “God, they're the worst!” Adam says through sniffles as Mox kisses his forehead.

“Hey Claudio, I got some balloons filled with cow's blood that I got from work in the trunk of my car. Just give me the word and we'll get on the school roof after-school and ruin their whole day” Mox says seriously as Wheeler and Bryan nod in agreement. “No, not yet Mox first I gotta go find Harley and see what happened” Claudio says as he grabs his backpack. “She's probably in the library! We can go with you if you want!” Wheeler offers, but Claudio refuses.

“She likes to be by herself when things happen to her so I'll go talk to her but you guys can stay close by in the projector room next door” Claudio says, with the others nodding in agreement. “Sounds like a plan dude! Now go get your girl or I'm kicking your ass all the way there myself!” Mox jokingly threatens, causing Claudio to let off a little salute as he runs down the hallway. He makes it down the stairway but stops when he sees hall monitor Marina Shafir on patrol. He sees her with a kendo stick in hand and shudders at the thought of being beaten with it.

He's heard the screams of his fellow classmates being beaten senseless by her when they got caught running. He sneakily gets past Marina and when the close is clear he runs to the library. He goes to the little coffee corner in the library and makes him and Harley's usuals. He searches around and hears his girlfriend crying behind a bookshelf which breaks his heart. “Marco” Claudio says quietly on the other side of the bookshelf. “P-Polo…” Harley says quietly as Claudio comes around and sits next to her.

“I got you your usual Kitty” Claudio says sweetly as he hands Harley her cup. “Regular coffee with extra sugar and caramel creamer?” Harley asks through sniffles. “Just the way you like it meine liebe” Claudio says with a small smile. Harley lays her head on Claudio's shoulder as he wraps his arm around her to pull her closer. They drink their drinks in silence for a few minutes until Claudio speaks up. “Are you ready to talk about it?” Claudio asks, causing Harley to sigh.

“I was working on our art project and you know everything was going great! Then you left and Mr.Nana went to get something from the back room and that's when bad things happened! Mariah cornered me in the classroom while Mina got the class fan and turned it on. Then they dumped wet paint on the blade and it splattered all over me and ruined my outfit!” Harley explains rapidly while moving her hands around.

Claudio looks over his girlfriend's outfit so he can see the damage. She was wearing a green turtleneck shirt with a denim overall romper with embroidered mushrooms on the sides and middle with pink and blue knee-high socks and pink converse. She looked absolutely beautiful in it when he saw her this morning but now he sees her clothes are covered with splotches of dried paint. “Oh kitty, I'm so sorry that I wasn't there to protect you” Claudio apologizes quietly as he wipes away Harley's tears.

“That's not even the worst part they did” Harley says quietly as she shoves her face into Claudio's chest. “What else did they do?” Claudio asks as he gently scratches Harley's scalp. “They said a weirdo like me doesn't deserve to be with a perfect person like you” Harley says truthfully, which makes Claudio a bit angry. “abscheuliche Dämonen” he says under his breath but the time for revenge on them is later, right now he needs to comfort his girlfriend.

“Harley, let me tell you now that what those two did to you was vile and they'll get their comeuppance. Secondly, do you remember what happened on our first date?” Claudio asks, causing Harley to blush. “Yeah, I invited you to my house! I tried to make crepes to impress you but it just ended up with you helping me air the smoke out the house and us ordering pizza” Harley says with a laugh. “That was also when I realized that dessert pizza is very delicious! But do you remember what you said to me after that?” Claudio asks with a smile.

“I apologized and asked you why you even accepted to go on a date with a weirdo like me” Harley says as she looks into Claudio's eyes. “What did I say after you said that?” Claudio asks, causing Harley to blush even more. “That you didn't mind being with me and that weird was lovely” Harley says happily. “That's right, you being weird has changed my life for the better. You were the splash of color I needed in my boring life and I never wanna change that. Love, you being weird is one of the reasons why I fell in love with you among other things” Claudio says truthfully.

Without hesitation, Harley wrapped her arms around him and squeezed. “You are the best boyfriend ever!!!” Harley says through happy tears. “I wouldn't say the best considering I'm weird myself” Claudio says which causes Harley to spring up and look at him. “You? Weird? Impossible!” Harley says enthusiastically, causing Claudio to blush. “Harley, I'm a nerd who loves to play video games, make my own clothes from scratch, bake pastries and knit outfits for my cat… I'm not exactly perfect like everyone thinks I am” Claudio explains sweetly.

“Well, maybe that's why I fell in love with you! Your weirdness is lovely to me too” Harley says affectionately. Claudio leans in and kisses Harley deeply. “I love you so much Harley” Claudio says affectionately. “I love you too Claudio” Harley says back. “The others are waiting in the projector room and Mox said he has balloons full of cow's blood in the trunk of his car… how about we go get the others and throw them at Mariah and Mina on the roof of the school?” Claudio offers with a smirk, making Harley instantly stand up.

“Yes! Let's do it but what about my outfit?” Harley asks as Claudio gets up as well. Claudio then proceeds to take off his turtleneck jacket and puts it on Harley, covering up her paint covered outfit. “Now everyone will know that your the girlfriend of someone people shouldn't fuck with” Claudio says proudly.

“Always a gentleman aren't you? Now come on my Swiss sweetheart! Revenge awaits!” Harley says with a huge grin as she grabs Claudio's hand and runs to the projector room. Claudio just laughs as he gets whisked away by the most weirdest and amazing girl he's ever loved.

Good Luck, Babe! | Psychonauts Future Au Animatic

Thank you, @spaloonbabooguuscooties for getting me into Elka x Franke, the rarepair I never thought was possible…Until I started to ship it myself. (I think theres one other person who ships it…but I can’t remember who they were)…

…And once I was possessed by Chappell Roan to make this animatic…of course, I did.

Anyway…so, this animatic takes place in a future au where Elka and Nils are engaged—-but despite everything they’ve been through, Elka has some doubts. After all, she can predict the future. Specifically, BAD futures. And since most of her predictions regarding Nils have been very negative…She isn’t so sure that marrying him would be in anyone’s best interest. That being said, Elka decides to leave the apartment she shares with Nils to go to a bar one night. At the bar, she contemplates a lot about her life—-and herself. She thinks about her life up until this point, her relationship with Nils, whether or not she’s straight or not and also whether or not she’s in love with her co-worker and camp buddy, Franke, and in denial about being straight and in a relationship with Nils just so that she’ll feel assured that she is IN FACT STRAIGHT. Yet, as she thinks, Franke comes in and soon realizes that Elka is pretty down. So, of course, Franke decides to order her another drink, and one for herself. Then, the two get to drinking and talking and…actually have a really good talk with one another. But after they leave and Franke is about to go, Elka is compelled to kiss her…and for once in her life…she feels love. Real love. And Franke feels it too…On top of this, Elka thinks that this may actually work out in her favor because she never predicted it (again, due to the fact that all of her predictions, pretty much, end pretty badly).

Next episode of the Elka x Franke drama…Elka and Nils break up and he tells her that, he too, is NOT straight (contrary to popular belief!) and was waiting for HER to “make a move” like this so that he could get with the guy of his dreams.

That aside, I hope you all like the animatic with these silly little guys :D

Izzy and Dema talk writing (surprise!), trying and failing to catch a train, and Those Greek Guys

Dema: Starting current events (at the time of the interview): It's pitch writing time! How's it going?

Izzy: I've reached the part where the fun and games end and the heavier plot begins, so I'm moving more slowly. I totally lost control of the direction my story was going after chapter 3. But it's been a great time writing this story!

Dema: It is funny how our own stories can get away from us. I think I have my vibes pinned down and I almost always deviate. Does that tend to be your experience or are you usually a make-a-plan, stick-to-the-plan-type of writer?

Izzy: I try to be a no-plan writer. That's usually how my stories start: I get an idea and start in it with no real direction. But eventually I'm forced to develop some plan for where I'm going, and I try to stick to it. But I think the nature of stories is that sometimes they just write themselves and I'm simply their vessel.

Dema: I'm trying to remember which writer described it as trying to catch a train...

Izzy: That sounds familiar... But I can't remember either.

Dema: Wow, it's gunna drive me crazy. I'll put it in later… it was basically, you're on foot, and inspiration is like a train, and you're just grabbing onto whatever you can grab. Except I'm pretty sure a nobel prize-winning writer said it so it sounded much better.

[Narrator: Dema never did find the original source, and it really will drive her crazy. If you know it, tag her!]

When you say you eventually need to develop a plan, at what point do you realize you need to do that?

Izzy: Either when I run out of inspiration or when I have a clear idea of where I want to get, but no idea of how to get there. With my story for the DABB it was the former: after writing three chapters non-stop I hit a brick wall of "alright, and where am I going with this?"

Dema: I was going to ask about the DABB next! Did you have your preliminary idea before you decided to join in?

Izzy: Yes. It was an idea that had been kicking around in my head for a long while, but that I wasn't sure I should actually write because it's a) kind of a cliche and b) not a very popular pairing, but eventually I decided to just get it out there anyway. It started with a very particular line of dialogue and grew from there.

Dema: Oh, we love a rarepair in this house…And of course, I know what it is, and am excited.

Izzy: Lol! It was strange for me actually, becoming a rare pair writer. The first big bang I participated in was for Supernatural, a pairing with 100k fics on their tag. Now I'm writing for a pair with 100 fics, 4 of which are mine.

Dema: Incredible. You are holding down this fort. Also I love this little teaser. When did you start writing for DA?

Izzy: October 2022 (We're in 2024 already, jesus Christ)

Dema: Yes, unfortunately it is a daily shock for me as well. But I love how many people come into the fandom and create new fanworks even so long after the last game came out. What drew you in? Were you already hanging around the DA fandom before 2022?

Izzy: I started playing...at the end of 2021, I think. My brother introduced me to the franchise and my autistic little brain became obsessed with it. I was going to name my favorite game and protagonist, but considering they're the center of the fic, that'd be a spoiler. Anyway, I started following some DA blogs on Tumblr, and eventually thoughts of that game had consumed my every waking thought to the point I wrote two academic essays about it in my first year of uni. I wrote a significant portion of those 4 fics in the bus on the way to said uni. What drew me in most were the themes, really.

Dema: Any in particular?

Izzy: Found family and the tragic undertones of it all, mostly. I really like the way DA2 works as a tragedy in between two epics. The mage x templar conflict is also quite interesting. The tragedy x epic was totally the subject of one of those essays, btw. My professors suffer.

Dema: So I assume DA2 is your favorite of the franchise? Have you played all of them?

Izzy: Yes, it is! I've played all of them a couple of times, and DA2...several times. I don't know how many. 

Dema: I'm so curious if you played them in order or started with DA2. The "best order" to experience the DA universe is an interesting debate.

Izzy: No, I played them in order. Personally, I think it'd be strange to play them out of order, at least for the first time, because of the way the stories tie into each other. What I did do was play DA2 twice before I played Inquisition because on my first gameplay I didn't really check the writing desk (there wasn't anything like that in DAO and I was still new to games more complex than The Sims) and I missed Fenris entirely. Detail: he's one of my fave companions now

Dema: I'm pretty sure I missed Sera on my first DA:I playthrough. It's wild how much it impacts the story, if you miss a companion!

Izzy: Yes! I mean, it's a whole arc and a lot of banter you just don't get. Fenris has so much good banter!! I truly can't believe I missed him.

Dema: When it comes to the DA fandom, would you consider yourself a gamer first and a writer or reader second, or something else?

Izzy: That's a really difficult question. I'm not exactly a big gamer. Like, I'm not a completionist and I mostly play on casual because my real focus is the story being told. So I guess what I truly am is a "reader of the game" lol. Though I have been getting more into combat strategizing and stuff like that for DA2, because you can only play something on casual so many times before it loses the appeal. If you'll allow me an anecdote, to paint a picture of the kind of "gamer" I am: one time I was playing DAI in my brother's room (his computer), and he walks in, sees me with a vein popping on my forehead, stupidly focused, staring unflinchingly at the screen, and asks "what the f* are you doing?" I was in the undercroft tinting armors. 

And then, after that, I'm a writer.

Dema: This story is very relatable, lol. You've touched on the narrative structure of the franchise a bit and I'd love to hear more about that epic to tragedy to epic format, and why that resonated. Since you wrote a whole paper on it, just distill it into like four sentences, that shouldn't be hard right??? (I'm sorry)

Izzy: Oh, god. Ok. I'll try not to get too carried away :V

Dema: Please feel free. Here is a box to stand on, and a megaphone.

Izzy:  So. Uh. The Greeks, right? Those guys. Aristotle, more specifically. The Poetics and all that. I think DAO and DAI follow the formula of classic epics: you have this larger than life hero going on a very important quest to save the world. Notice that those games are longer than DA2, kind of like an odyssey, if you will. There are many quests, many steps to the journey before the hero can rest. It's glorious and grand, regardless of whether the hero survives or not. Now DA2 follows the formula of tragedies even closer than the other games follow the epic. And I mean step by step aristotelian formula. You have Hawke, who rises into fame and fortune. The rising movement is very important, because you later have the downfall. He gets fame and riches, but everything comes with a cost, usually the lives of his family. So in DA2 you have this constant rise and fall movement, leading up to the end where (if you defend the mages, at least) Hawke is forced to leave behind everything they spend 7+ years building. They lose everything. In the essay I compared it to Oedipus: he becomes king and etc, there's this looming prophecy (remember Flemmeth when you do the amulet ritual), and in the end everything falls apart. That's as summarized as I can get lol. And Hawke starts out as a nobody! And the game is actually divided in acts!!!

Dema: I read a LOT of classics/Homer in undergrad and I love this. Ten out of Ten. Thank you! I could honestly listen to you talk about that epic/tragedy structure for another hour but alas, we are out of time. To close the interview, and just for fun: Can you come up with a buzzfeed-style, misleading, click-bait title for your fic? Without giving anything major away that would identify you lol

Izzy: Ok, so, this is as vague as I managed: This is how local political unrest can help your love life (Also, I just realized I went out to get wifi and did the whole interview wearing a DA2 sweater. It was a complete accident, I swear)
