sorry if this is super passive aggressive sounding or ranty but As open as this community seems some of you are so misogynistic Like wlw and mlw selfships , if the self insert is a woman or fem presenting some of you people freak out , or if the f/o is a woman or fem presenting ! Someone on twitter had a very fem presenting genderfluid self insert and selfshipped with a character that is a bit on the fruitier side but nothing is canon And people went batshit because the artist was "forcing mlw on a gay character" when the self insert wasnt even a woman ??? just fem presenting ???? like in general you people need to learn she/her pronouns and being fem presenting doesn't mean woman . Certain tmascs still use she/her and present themselves as fem -- self inserts can be the same thing without the constant hate and misinformation?

also I noticed that wlw selfshippers just dont get as much attention as mlm or mlw in general and I think we all know why lol . im not an wlw selfshipper but my closest friends are and I honestly hate seeing my selfship get more attention than theirs when their art , lore and writing has so much more effort put into it ? but its ignored because its a wlw selfship like way to go guys .

there's a good couple things about popular fanon that I really hate but the things that always sticks out to me is what they choose to keep from canon for instance, morrisions Talia Al Ghul, some fanon only fans who very proudly say they've never read a comic sure do love to bring up how Talia was portrayed in Morrisions batman run like they've actually even read it

God this is so real. Evil Talia enduring for so long is a testament to how most fanon demonises characters of colour to prop up White favs. Evil Talia exists to prop up Good Dad Bruce, and canon is a convenient excuse to justify that. (This is an issue for canon fans, too; there are some very ungenerous interpretations of characters based on 1 badly written moment or run).

But yeah for most popular fanon 'canon', it's either villainising a POC or victimizing a White boy. Fanon's love of Red Robin 2009 is a good example of this - it's the ultimate White boy victim/evil POC story. Of course it's not, because anyone who reads it knows that neither Tim or Damian are written as unilaterally right or wrong, but that nuance is lost in vague Tumblr posts and out-of-context screenshots.

Everyone picks and chooses canon, that's inevitable given the medium. But where most canon fans pick and choose based on characters they love, fanon seems to choose canon based on who they don't like/who to exclude. So you have Damian cutting Tim's line, the weird endurance of cop!Dick/the 'Tim and Arkham' thing, evil Talia, Cass being in HK... all of this canon centers on removing or villainising characters of colour.

Not all fanon fans are like this, a lot of them genuinely love these characters. But if your love of a White character is predicated on tearing down a character of colour, especially when you've never taken the time to understand anything about them, that's when it stops being harmless fun.

"Go outside" is often said for people who get way too combative on the internet and yes face to face communication with people can be good for grounding yourself but also the internet is a pretty giant place

I know people say things like "this only matters on the internet" but truthfully it only matters on even a small section of the internet... you can go somewhere else. Remove yourself from internet tar pits and hang out with people who are more chill perhaps.

If you find yourself angry or upset all the time look at the spaces you are in and assess if maybe they are exacerbating that, and try to make connections and friends with people outside of those spaces

especially in the earlier eras he had to put a lot more effort into styling/dyeing his hair to cover his ears & the blueness/Elf Sparkle. he also wore glasses for a while to dim the Treelight Eyes (because even as badly faded as he is, it's still really obvious with how old he is).

thoughts on ian’s face in the “sorry im late” scene in 5x8 (i think it’s 5x8)

my thoughts are that i am going to start crying and never stop. my additional thoughts are:

so he's in bed, right? he's been trying mickey all day, meanwhile mickey has been going through his own process at home. but ian is thinking that he might have finally pushed mickey away for good - or scared him away. so he's in bed, eyes shut - probably not sleeping, but just laying there. shutting out the rest of the day. he hears someone behind him and his eyes kinda open. it's when he hears mickey though that his breathing picks up and we go from this:

like it's so slight, but like. the little flutters and the way his eyes start to move 😭 there's life left there. i feel like...... in moments like this, it sometimes feels like you might just lay there until you're dust. it's all over. the life you knew, the life you wanted. and yet - here he is again. and i think ian is genuinely surprised. this is where is starts being surprising to ian that he could be someone to come back for.

anyways. he turns around as fast as his medicated body will let him. we don't see his face when he first sees mickey, but we see it when he says "sorry i'm late." and it reminds me of the scene in 4x11 where mickey says "what you and i have makes me free." like it makes me insane. in both of these moments, his face just drops into something so young and so vulnerable.

like???? he's a little boy! and here is someone standing in front of him - someone he he has ALWAYS WANTED to stand in front of him - promising to be there. that he knows ian needed him. that he's here now for whatever might happen. reality is so warped these days but here he is.

and you see it land??? you see ian exhale and settle in a way he probably hasn't in a while. things are not okay. they're not okay!!! and they won't be for a while. but in this little moment together in this room where he grew up, he can breathe out the grief. he can share it.

mickey moves to get in bed and ian just makes room, like he always has. but he never blinks. doesn't dare take his eyes off of mickey. it's like he's scared mickey might change his mind, or dissolve right in front of him. is he even really there?

and there's another layer of disbelief here. another layer of grief. mickey milkovich is crawling back into his bed to hold him, and it's like this. it happened like this. everything he's done and suffered and been made to face comes down all at once. he's tired, he's scared. he's sorry. mickey has finally seen the worst of him.

he looks away, and mickey chases after him. i think it's important to mickey here that he lets ian feel him. something about that tactile, grounding comfort. and mickey won't look away either, it's too precious. ian's safe, even if nothing is the same.

and it's here, in these quivering lips and drawn eyebrows...... this is the release. his body and his mind have been through a lot in the last few days. it's as close to cathartic as ian really gets for a while. it's not long before the walls go back up and he's angry. but right now, he brings his hand to hold mickey's wrist, and he lets himself be held.

now.... this face:

this face fucking haunts me. i cannot name this face. what is he seeing here? i imagine it's so hard to see past this moment, into a future he can't name. it's like he's simultaneously feeling mickey there and also completely isolated. i can't explain this face. can anyone else explain this face???

either way, he closes his eyes against it. and you can assume that rest is coming.

Holy FUCK I have selective mutism

I never really let myself claim anything like that because it takes a lot to reach a point where I CAN’T talk, but it doesn’t take much at all for talking to become a struggle for me, and situations in which I have to talk for extended periods of time stress me out because, the more I talk, the harder it gets. I only recently let myself say that I go nonverbal sometimes. In presenting my thoughts to my girlfriend, she said it sounds an awful lot like selective mutism.
